Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to another episode of Inside the Bus. I'm
- 0:03Speaker 1: Jack McPherson. Joined here with me is Cooper Comstock and
- 0:06Speaker 1: JP Hovey. We also have two special guests for us
- 0:11Speaker 1: current Michigan Wolverine football players. Go ahead and introduce yourself, boys.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Zach Marshall on the tight end from San Diego. Been
- 0:22Speaker 2: on the Michigan team for three years now, freshman year
- 0:24Speaker 2: within that a year, so yeah, excited to be here,
- 0:28Speaker 2: National champion.
- 0:30Speaker 1: How do you before we really get to do it,
- 0:33Speaker 1: do you think that was a fraudulent national championship?
- 0:35Speaker 3: I was about to say, I was about to say
- 0:36Speaker 3: a lot of haters in this building.
- 0:37Speaker 2: The craziest part is, like, think about it, we had
- 0:40Speaker 2: to go on the road. Depends without Harbaugh. You want
- 0:44Speaker 2: to talk about overcoming adversity.
- 0:46Speaker 1: But did y'all have Biff Pogi at that time? Or
- 0:48Speaker 1: was he?
- 0:49Speaker 3: It was it was Sharon.
- 0:54Speaker 1: We'll get We'll get to him too, so don't worry.
- 0:57Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. Also, before we get too far into
- 0:59Speaker 1: this legendary of forty seven jerseys, you guys know we
- 1:03Speaker 1: always try and shout out some honorable athletes who rep
- 1:06Speaker 1: the number of the episodes correlated with forty seven was
- 1:09Speaker 1: a tough one.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Forty seven is tough. We had to do some research.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I had to do some research. We landed on John
- 1:14Speaker 1: Lynch Tampa Bay buccaneer at forty seven.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Chris Cooley Redskins legend, and that might have been really
- 1:22Speaker 3: it bear Bachmeyer, I would call it the legend, but we're
- 1:26Speaker 3: kind of bottom of the barrel. Verst of forty seven's.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Clay Matthews.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Clay Matthews in college was forty seven Southern cal but
- 1:37Speaker 3: we gotta let the other one introduced.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Yes, go ahead, try nice straight.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Pierce.
- 1:42Speaker 4: I played the tackle Newiversity of Michigan from Chicago, Illinois.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Happy to be thank you.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Where'd you say you were from? Zach san Diego, Oh,
- 1:50Speaker 1: san Diego. I love me and JP love San Diego.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think we're in some like quiet
- 1:56Speaker 1: minority groups saying we love San Diego.
- 1:58Speaker 3: I like it too.
- 1:59Speaker 1: It's one one of the best players ever. But we've
- 2:01Speaker 1: both recently been there, not so long ago. Great food,
- 2:04Speaker 1: great atmosphere. But I think what I want to ask
- 2:07Speaker 1: right off the bat, because we got an offense and
- 2:09Speaker 1: a defensive guy, what's the superior side?
- 2:11Speaker 2: Of the line has to be offense. I mean, we
- 2:15Speaker 2: know what's going on like that, I will say their
- 2:18Speaker 2: reaction has to be better than ours. But the fact
- 2:21Speaker 2: that like we we get to just go out there,
- 2:23Speaker 2: play full speed and get after it, like offense has
- 2:26Speaker 2: to be better, all.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Right, Trey, If you have any grit, any love for contact,
- 2:31Speaker 4: any violence in your heart, if you if you are
- 2:34Speaker 4: basically if you're a dog, you play defense. That's just
- 2:37Speaker 4: the fact. I think everybody knows that. I think everybody
- 2:39Speaker 4: kind of you watch the game, You're like, oh, yeah,
- 2:41Speaker 4: you kind of have to be a nut job to
- 2:43Speaker 4: do that. Like you gotta be, like you gotta have
- 2:45Speaker 4: some shit to you to do that one. So, I
- 2:47Speaker 4: mean offense, they make place, they may score touchdowns. But
- 2:50Speaker 4: if you got you got any any violence in you,
- 2:52Speaker 4: any any need for contact, you need to play defense.
- 2:55Speaker 4: You gotta like I don't even understand, like how this
- 2:57Speaker 4: is a question.
- 2:58Speaker 2: You have any need to win? You can always win
- 3:01Speaker 2: on offense.
- 3:01Speaker 4: You can winch championship.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I was gonna follow up with that, you really win
- 3:05Speaker 1: a single game by scoring more points than the other team.
- 3:09Speaker 1: There's definitely been games out there where there's only been
- 3:11Speaker 1: defensive points scored. I obviously could probably Iowa. Yeah, maybe maybe.
- 3:16Speaker 2: That's how I didn't they score more points.
- 3:19Speaker 3: That's like I would Nebraska every year.
- 3:21Speaker 2: They were like yeah, I think like the points were
- 3:23Speaker 2: scored by the defense. Like two years ago, remember that
- 3:26Speaker 2: OC was like the kid of the head coach.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Yeah, one time they one time they bet the FCS
- 3:31Speaker 3: team like ten to seven, and they had like two
- 3:35Speaker 3: field goals and like two safeties, like they crazy. They
- 3:40Speaker 3: didn't score a touchdown. They had ten points and that's
- 3:42Speaker 3: ten points. That's ten points score anyway.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Yeah, no, you gotta love it. You gotta love just
- 3:47Speaker 1: the the team camaraderie completely mixed with like fuck you,
- 3:52Speaker 1: motherfucker were better than you in practice, We're gonna motherfuck you.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I like that stuff. Tell me a little bit about
- 3:58Speaker 1: Kyle Whittingham. You guys have spent some time with him now,
- 4:02Speaker 1: I've heard some rumors that back in the day and
- 4:04Speaker 1: still now, he could throw up some weight and he's
- 4:06Speaker 1: a physical guy. Just give me like first impression you
- 4:09Speaker 1: guys have had with coach Whittingham.
- 4:12Speaker 4: First impressions, He's an intense guy, focused guy, and like
- 4:17Speaker 4: he's more like he's more Jack than you think, like,
- 4:20Speaker 4: you know, like like not to be no pause, he's
- 4:24Speaker 4: pretty he's he's a rocked up got pause. He's a
- 4:29Speaker 4: solid guy. Like he's pretty solid guy.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean if you look back in the day
- 4:36Speaker 2: he does anyone remember what number he wore or Wittingham?
- 4:41Speaker 2: Can somebody can you peep that? Can somebody check if
- 4:44Speaker 2: he was forty that might be historic because he I
- 4:47Speaker 2: think he might have been forty seven and wore a
- 4:49Speaker 2: cowboy like a full neck roll.
- 4:52Speaker 3: I mean that's he looks like he's a great dude linebacker.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, what's it feel like h playing under
- 5:00Speaker 1: a coach who's defensive minded as an offensive guy? Is
- 5:03Speaker 1: there like, is there any kind of like where he
- 5:07Speaker 1: seems like he favors a defense a little more or
- 5:09Speaker 1: is it more like the ocs like you guys are more.
- 5:12Speaker 2: N It's really funny. Forty four Okay, they still a
- 5:16Speaker 2: good number though, great number four fourths, shout out Max Pretison, Cap,
- 5:22Speaker 2: that's Cap. But you were saying defensive minded. I mean
- 5:27Speaker 2: you get to the end of the practice with an
- 5:28Speaker 2: offensive minded coach, and if the defense has a really
- 5:30Speaker 2: good day and the offense has a decent day, dude,
- 5:33Speaker 2: he is mfing you, like going at you. Meanwhile, a
- 5:37Speaker 2: defensive minded coach is like, wow, that was a really
- 5:39Speaker 2: competitive game, like a really competitive day. Like I feel
- 5:43Speaker 2: like offensive minded coaches really care about, like the offense
- 5:45Speaker 2: scoring points and say you like only score once or twice,
- 5:49Speaker 2: they will get on you crazy, worst practice we've ever had. Meanwhile,
- 5:54Speaker 2: like a defensive coach is like, yeah, great, great stops
- 5:57Speaker 2: by everyone.
- 5:58Speaker 1: H a little back and forth.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Meanwhile, yeah, like, like I said, the offense, the defense
- 6:03Speaker 2: does terrible. It's like, man, that was a great practice,
- 6:07Speaker 2: Like everything was firing on all cylinders, and then the
- 6:09Speaker 2: defensive coordinator pulls them the side and it's like, oh, man,
- 6:11Speaker 2: that sucked.
- 6:13Speaker 4: I will say this though with like as a defensive guy,
- 6:16Speaker 4: when the offense is having a bad practice, it it
- 6:20Speaker 4: practice does feel like it sucks, Like it feels like
- 6:23Speaker 4: we're we're in the same side of the field the
- 6:24Speaker 4: whole practice. It's like, oh, like I would say that
- 6:28Speaker 4: the impact feels worse when the offense is worse. When
- 6:30Speaker 4: the defense is worse. It's like, oh, we're firing right, like.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Our offense is cooking. Man, we're gonna points. The defense
- 6:37Speaker 2: is gonna do their job, but we're gonna put up
- 6:39Speaker 2: points like that.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Yeah, but then the offense is going not going good.
- 6:42Speaker 4: It's like it's like, yeah, it doesn't look like it's
- 6:45Speaker 4: muddy football.
- 6:46Speaker 3: So what's the message after the spring game when there's
- 6:50Speaker 3: point when it's a very low scoring game.
- 6:53Speaker 4: You know, I mean, hey, yellow team may seem one.
- 6:57Speaker 4: That's all I gotta say.
- 6:59Speaker 2: No crazy stat about spring games. I'm oh for four,
- 7:03Speaker 2: damn four four spring games. Oh for four blue team,
- 7:08Speaker 2: Blue team, mased team, blue team. Hopefully that's that's a plan.
- 7:15Speaker 4: But like three for three spring games, never lost undefeated.
- 7:22Speaker 3: H JP wants to know if y'all were both recruited
- 7:28Speaker 3: by Jim Harball, what was it like and what was
- 7:31Speaker 3: it like? Uh, his in home visit for y'all, you.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Gotta go home visit.
- 7:36Speaker 4: It was cool. It was pretty chill compared to some
- 7:38Speaker 4: of the other stories. The only thing I remember about
- 7:41Speaker 4: Harball is like, so he came in, Uh, we're eating
- 7:45Speaker 4: Berria tacos and I guess they never had beeriad tacos.
- 7:48Speaker 4: But he was also like he had his dip. So
- 7:51Speaker 4: I'm eating my Berrio taco and I'm looking over his dip.
- 7:54Speaker 4: Like bottle and I just like it was like, looky
- 7:57Speaker 4: ruined it for me because I was thinking about the
- 7:59Speaker 4: same color as the beer. Are you like the Yeah? Yeah,
- 8:03Speaker 4: so I mean but it was a great I committed
- 8:05Speaker 4: on my I committed on my home visit. So that
- 8:07Speaker 4: was fun, Like were good? Yeah?
- 8:09Speaker 1: How was he? How was he with the family and stuff? Family?
- 8:12Speaker 3: I fel like he like he's a good family.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Yeah, he's just dispit I feel like he's checking every
- 8:18Speaker 1: other dude.
- 8:18Speaker 3: I've been to that. I have an uncle who does that,
- 8:20Speaker 3: and it would ruin my appetite. You just like when
- 8:22Speaker 3: I'm like ten years old, family vacation just sets out there, I'm.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Like, what is that?
- 8:29Speaker 4: Yeah you cheer?
- 8:30Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like no.
- 8:33Speaker 2: My mine was funny. We were watching Bucks Saints either
- 8:39Speaker 2: on a Thursday or Monday. I'm trying to remember if
- 8:41Speaker 2: it was a Thursday or Monday, but it was like
- 8:43Speaker 2: an off. It was a weird day. Family brought in
- 8:47Speaker 2: some pie from like a really nice Spanish restaurant like
- 8:51Speaker 2: Fantastic Him Grant new some and Matt Wise or the
- 8:57Speaker 2: three guys that came yeah to my my house visit.
- 9:02Speaker 2: I don't know, if you gotta know a lot about
- 9:04Speaker 2: that whole situation about wi.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Yeah, we all got to get into it.
- 9:07Speaker 2: We don't. I'm just like, yeah, but those three show up.
- 9:12Speaker 2: After he finished dinner, Coach Harball goes instantly.
- 9:16Speaker 1: To the couch.
- 9:17Speaker 5: Is there there's a game on tonight, right, you guys
- 9:22Speaker 5: got recliner, You gotta recliner?
- 9:24Speaker 4: Feet up?
- 9:25Speaker 6: Is he shoes on in the house, shoes on, shoes
- 9:28Speaker 6: on in the house, feed up diet coke, sweet tea,
- 9:34Speaker 6: and then I think he had a dip like a spit,
- 9:37Speaker 6: a spit too, So.
- 9:38Speaker 2: We had three three things right here.
- 9:40Speaker 5: He's like, I'm a good football coach, but you know
- 9:43Speaker 5: what I'm really good at watch the ball.
- 9:45Speaker 2: I love it.
- 9:46Speaker 5: I've always been a good football coach from man, this
- 9:48Speaker 5: is where I belong. Right here, Eddie's full reclined, watches
- 9:53Speaker 5: the entire game.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Doesn't leave my house.
- 9:56Speaker 1: That is that recliner typically in that house, Does it
- 10:00Speaker 1: belong to one particular person.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Like my mom? Where he where he sat?
- 10:05Speaker 1: See? Because like I feel like if I'd be in
- 10:06Speaker 1: the house and they said, like my pops share something,
- 10:09Speaker 1: I'm like, oh mane.
- 10:10Speaker 2: See Luckily my dad sat right next to him. I'm
- 10:14Speaker 2: a fan. There's so there's there are two recliners and
- 10:17Speaker 2: then there's like a like a three person seat over here,
- 10:21Speaker 2: and I just I sprawled across that thing. But so
- 10:24Speaker 2: I'm sprawled across that thing. They're sitting right here. The
- 10:27Speaker 2: other coaches are out there, you know, chatting with my
- 10:30Speaker 2: mom and trying to like, you know, sell sell me
- 10:32Speaker 2: on Michigan. Sure, I'm already committed at this point, but
- 10:35Speaker 2: they're still gonna make sure, you know. But dude, he
- 10:39Speaker 2: was at my house, I want to say, until like eleven.
- 10:41Speaker 3: PM once at the end of the game he had
- 10:43Speaker 3: to watch at the end of the game, and.
- 10:43Speaker 2: They was like, you know, I'll just I'll just go
- 10:46Speaker 2: down to Coronado.
- 10:47Speaker 5: I got a house down there.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I got house.
- 10:49Speaker 2: So he's, yeah, I guess he's got a place over there,
- 10:51Speaker 2: like in San Diego.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Used to coach at San Diego.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's when he.
- 10:55Speaker 1: That's when he bought his house.
- 10:56Speaker 5: And he was like, yeah, you know what, I'll just
- 10:59Speaker 5: go over to my house.
- 11:01Speaker 1: You guys.
- 11:01Speaker 2: You guys get to the airport.
- 11:03Speaker 3: This impression is like spot on.
- 11:04Speaker 7: Is it?
- 11:07Speaker 2: My buddy?
- 11:07Speaker 1: His name is Austin Winfrey. He was on the strength
- 11:09Speaker 1: staff in twenty twenty to twenty twenty two, I believe.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I don't know if he would have been there with y'all,
- 11:15Speaker 1: but there I cannot remember.
- 11:20Speaker 2: That's when I showed up.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it might have been right at the end. But
- 11:23Speaker 1: he would always tell me hilarious Harball stories about him
- 11:26Speaker 1: showing up, you know, five am, and he's working out
- 11:29Speaker 1: in his khakis and cam felt on, and he said,
- 11:32Speaker 1: and I don't know if he was just trying to
- 11:33Speaker 1: pull one on me, but I believe Hi when he
- 11:35Speaker 1: says it that after workout one day, he got in
- 11:38Speaker 1: the cold tubs, full khakis, full polo on, and then
- 11:41Speaker 1: gets out and then like proceeds to go through his day,
- 11:44Speaker 1: and I'm like, there's there, Like there's no way. The
- 11:47Speaker 1: feeling of wet pants on is one thing I know.
- 11:49Speaker 1: I know Harbball can be a psycho. I'm sure, like
- 11:52Speaker 1: a good psycho, but I don't think anyone's psychotic enough
- 11:55Speaker 1: to do that. But maybe he is that guy. I
- 11:58Speaker 1: don't know if y'll have any of those. How long
- 12:00Speaker 1: was Harball with you guys? And until he was gone
- 12:03Speaker 1: one year?
- 12:03Speaker 2: For me, it was like eighteen months, so the season
- 12:07Speaker 2: and spring. But for you it was just the season.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I got during the summer. He was gone by
- 12:13Speaker 4: like so after the NATY he left, so like probably
- 12:15Speaker 4: six seven minutes in January.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Yeah, something like that.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Something like that.
- 12:21Speaker 1: No, that's cool. I mean to get to be under
- 12:23Speaker 1: such a legendary coaches, it's got to be something you'll
- 12:26Speaker 1: talk about forever. I mean, just like the funny impressions
- 12:29Speaker 1: and him putting the feet up on the couch and
- 12:32Speaker 1: spitting dip in your home.
- 12:33Speaker 2: I want to know.
- 12:34Speaker 3: And we don't have to get into it if it's whatever.
- 12:36Speaker 3: But like when he I don't know the extent of
- 12:39Speaker 3: like y'all knew him looking at the NFL, like when
- 12:41Speaker 3: he took that job, Like what was y'all's thought press
- 12:44Speaker 3: like process about like your future at Michigan.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Did were you able to go to the meeting? I
- 12:48Speaker 2: had a class. I don't want to clock class, so
- 12:52Speaker 2: you were you were at the meeting. So we all
- 12:54Speaker 2: get like told, hey, show up at like what was
- 12:56Speaker 2: it one thirty or something like that.
- 12:58Speaker 4: Right, It's like like we got the Twitter notifications, Like
- 13:02Speaker 4: walking up to the meeting, we're getting Twitter for notifications
- 13:04Speaker 4: like oh yeah, Harbor took the Chargers job. My bad,
- 13:08Speaker 4: we got the like, my bad, we got the notification
- 13:11Speaker 4: like right before the meeting, like, oh, Harbor take the
- 13:14Speaker 4: Chargers job. And we're walking into the meetings. We're like,
- 13:16Speaker 4: I guess we know what the meeting is about, like
- 13:19Speaker 4: and then we goes in there. He's like, yeah, took
- 13:23Speaker 4: the charger's job. Tell us. So he's excited to coach Herbert.
- 13:27Speaker 3: That's such a funny thing. That's such a funny.
- 13:33Speaker 5: He's like, yeah, he's six sax chuck man. I like
- 13:37Speaker 5: that guy, what are we doing?
- 13:41Speaker 2: Did your whole team and you're out here?
- 13:42Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm really excited to cut justin Herbert, Like.
- 13:46Speaker 3: He really does. You're good, dude. That's so funny. You know,
- 13:51Speaker 3: the vibes are high after winning the Natty, just like
- 13:54Speaker 3: Jim's still riding it. Are we still going like yeah, no,
- 13:57Speaker 3: we're so he's taking he's just taking a call. We're
- 13:59Speaker 3: going on the see like I understand the decision. I mean,
- 14:04Speaker 3: that's what That's why I don't really never would follow
- 14:06Speaker 3: a coach for going to the NFL, Like come on,
- 14:08Speaker 3: like that's what that's what we're especially when he got
- 14:11Speaker 3: like so close to his Super Bowl when he was there,
- 14:13Speaker 3: Like he was good in the NFL before he was
- 14:15Speaker 3: at Michigan.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Also, just the quality of life in the NFL versus
- 14:19Speaker 2: college as a coach, like being able to actually have time.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Oh, probably even more so, Like nowadays it's more money
- 14:26Speaker 3: for less work.
- 14:27Speaker 2: It's more money for less work. They don't have to
- 14:28Speaker 2: do the recruiting. Like think about that. The coaches aren't
- 14:32Speaker 2: selling you on the recruiting.
- 14:32Speaker 3: He he doesn't have to deal with nil anymore either,
- 14:35Speaker 3: Well he got out of.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that's called a collective bargaining agreement, so you know,
- 14:39Speaker 2: gets paid exactly what they are are told.
- 14:43Speaker 4: Like the GM NFL is way better as a coach,
- 14:45Speaker 4: Like you can go to the NFL, Like come on,
- 14:48Speaker 4: it's like displayer. If you can go to an NFL,
- 14:49Speaker 4: you go to the NFL.
- 14:50Speaker 3: So I mean, yeah, I feel like you can't follow
- 14:53Speaker 3: him for that how long? I forget the timeline? So, like,
- 14:56Speaker 3: I guess you all technically had like I know you
- 14:58Speaker 3: hired within, but you had a like a coaching search
- 15:00Speaker 3: for a little bit, Like did they like update y'all
- 15:02Speaker 3: about like because like y'all are kind of like suspended
- 15:06Speaker 3: and like kind of in flux. So like what did
- 15:07Speaker 3: y'all know about like your next head coach after that?
- 15:12Speaker 2: Which one after Jim or after after Jim after Jim.
- 15:15Speaker 2: I mean we kind of we were pretty clued in.
- 15:18Speaker 2: They were like, we're going to make sure that we
- 15:20Speaker 2: check everything right. The athletic director came in here, like,
- 15:23Speaker 2: we're gonna try to make sure we check all you
- 15:26Speaker 2: know what it's it, cross all your teeth, dot all
- 15:28Speaker 2: your eyes, like make sure that everything was ready. But
- 15:31Speaker 2: we knew it was going to coach more.
- 15:33Speaker 4: So yeah, they I think at that point they were
- 15:36Speaker 4: like really focused on like keeping the roster together. We're
- 15:38Speaker 4: like a lot of guys from the nat of year
- 15:40Speaker 4: who had another year left, like like all that that
- 15:43Speaker 4: whole twenty two class got drafted first, second, third round,
- 15:46Speaker 4: so I mean they were really just going to keep
- 15:48Speaker 4: a lot of guys there. So they were like, I mean,
- 15:50Speaker 4: they made the pick this round, so yeah, they're just
- 15:53Speaker 4: trying to keep us out all there.
- 15:56Speaker 3: I feel like if you're like a Mason Graham or
- 15:58Speaker 3: like Kenneth Grant or cold, like if you're like going
- 16:01Speaker 3: in the first round and you just want to Natty
- 16:03Speaker 3: like why would you leave, Like did you have one
- 16:06Speaker 3: more year? Like go play, like why would you leave
- 16:09Speaker 3: money money? But like but like I don't know how
- 16:12Speaker 3: much they were making. Actually I was gonna say they probably.
- 16:14Speaker 2: They had to retain people, you know what I mean retained.
- 16:17Speaker 2: And the craziest part is like that was I mean,
- 16:21Speaker 2: I guess after that was like the first year of
- 16:23Speaker 2: like people really getting good contracts or even kind of
- 16:26Speaker 2: starting the contract thing. I mean, if you could have
- 16:29Speaker 2: been a freshman in twenty twenty four, that would have
- 16:31Speaker 2: been the best time, like to be a freshman. I mean,
- 16:34Speaker 2: those guys are still righting the coat tails of just
- 16:36Speaker 2: getting paid. Crazy. Yeah.
- 16:39Speaker 7: Well yeah, like, welcome to college football, you guys.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Yeah, if if y'all couldn't hear JP he said, he's
- 16:50Speaker 3: asking what they're welcome to college football moment?
- 16:52Speaker 2: Is I have a good one?
- 16:54Speaker 4: Do you have a good one? I don't have a
- 16:56Speaker 4: good one, but you can mine.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Mine's in a practice which Tray was giving the movie Tray. Yeah. No,
- 17:03Speaker 2: Trey actually showed up on the first day and just
- 17:05Speaker 2: started little like little boying everyone. So you know he was.
- 17:09Speaker 2: He was three hundred and fifteen pounds, just yoked and
- 17:14Speaker 2: running straight through all of our senior guard's faces. No,
- 17:16Speaker 2: I'm just kidding. But for me, it was in a
- 17:19Speaker 2: We had this drill called beat Ohio and this linebacker
- 17:23Speaker 2: that ut pays plays at Georgia State. His name's Jayden Hood.
- 17:27Speaker 2: You remember j Hood Hood, and he would take the
- 17:31Speaker 2: soul out of people like puss pause, but he would
- 17:35Speaker 2: just hit you so hard. There's no poth yeah, no pause.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Jaden Hood hits so incredibly hard and always leads with
- 17:42Speaker 2: the crown of his helmet like just that guy half
- 17:46Speaker 2: the time, ninety percent of the time isn't gonna make
- 17:48Speaker 2: the play, but he's gonna hurt the person that he hits.
- 17:51Speaker 2: It's great, it's fantastic. And we I had a I
- 17:54Speaker 2: basically had like insert inside zone on him. And I
- 17:58Speaker 2: was seventeen years old, two hundred and eight pounds on
- 18:02Speaker 2: my third day, Cali boy man bun and everything. Dude,
- 18:10Speaker 2: we don't have to bring that back.
- 18:11Speaker 3: But I'm a reference pick bro.
- 18:13Speaker 2: I answered through that hole and I'm standing just like
- 18:17Speaker 2: this as Jaden Hood just runs flat through my face.
- 18:22Speaker 2: My helmet ends up tripping up our running back like
- 18:25Speaker 2: it it's the worst play ever. Like, I'm not giving
- 18:29Speaker 2: you all the film for that. I think I tried
- 18:30Speaker 2: to delete it from the exos you know database. It's
- 18:34Speaker 2: somewhere someone has that film and they're probably gonna bring
- 18:38Speaker 2: it up in like my NFL. You know they have everything.
- 18:42Speaker 2: They have everything, dude.
- 18:44Speaker 4: Yeah, they know everything. Honestly, my welcome to college for
- 18:47Speaker 4: the moment was like, honestly, I didn't get like crazy.
- 18:52Speaker 4: I probably like against Iowa Big Ten, I was like
- 18:55Speaker 4: on punt return and I was like trying to break
- 18:57Speaker 4: the shield up. I'm running, so I'm running as hard
- 18:59Speaker 4: as I can. It's a shield. Some like savvy like
- 19:02Speaker 4: guy on the shield. He just like gets me right
- 19:05Speaker 4: here under my helmet, gets me my like like jaw.
- 19:08Speaker 4: He like fractured my jaw. Yeah, I didn't. I couldn't
- 19:12Speaker 4: eat normally for it was like it wasn't too bad.
- 19:15Speaker 4: I don't have I didn't eat surgery or anything.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Mouth jaw break seems like one of the worst injuries
- 19:21Speaker 1: eating from.
- 19:21Speaker 2: A tube that that Kanye wire jaw just using.
- 19:26Speaker 1: A blender tube. All right. On the opposite of that question,
- 19:30Speaker 1: what was the moment where you were like all right,
- 19:33Speaker 1: I'm here to stay like I'm I'm making plays like
- 19:35Speaker 1: where you were like you're screaming up at the Big
- 19:39Speaker 1: House like this is my fucking city. Like y'all got
- 19:41Speaker 1: a moment like that. It doesn't have to be at
- 19:43Speaker 1: the Big House. But you know what I'm saying, yelling
- 19:45Speaker 1: back to Michigan.
- 19:46Speaker 4: You know it's bad because we lost this game, and uh,
- 19:50Speaker 4: I didn't do I didn't I had a good game.
- 19:52Speaker 4: I didn't play that much of my sophomore year. Uh
- 19:55Speaker 4: you know they that sophomore year, you know, we ha
- 19:57Speaker 4: KG and Mason Graham like so we're I wasn't playing
- 20:00Speaker 4: like a bunch. But we played Oregon at the Big House.
- 20:04Speaker 4: They put me in for like four plays and I
- 20:06Speaker 4: made like two tackles tackle for loss and that I
- 20:09Speaker 4: was like, all right, yeah, I can play this game.
- 20:11Speaker 4: Like they had the starter stealing, so I was like,
- 20:12Speaker 4: all right, I could play here.
- 20:14Speaker 1: And going off the sideline to everyone's smacking your help.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Yeah a feeling.
- 20:18Speaker 4: And I had like messed up earlier in the game.
- 20:20Speaker 4: I had like messed up bad like if you watch
- 20:22Speaker 4: the game, you know, like I had a penalty that
- 20:25Speaker 4: was pretty bad. And then like so I went back
- 20:27Speaker 4: in there and I made those plays. I was like,
- 20:28Speaker 4: all right, all right, I feel a little bit better.
- 20:31Speaker 2: But I kind of have two. One on like special
- 20:34Speaker 2: teams where I was like, Okay, I can actually like
- 20:36Speaker 2: participate in this, and then one in like actual game.
- 20:39Speaker 2: The obvious one is against Washington, right like first like
- 20:43Speaker 2: real start, first play the game. I'm in second place,
- 20:46Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Like the whole entire game
- 20:48Speaker 2: I was. I was, I was the one, and then
- 20:52Speaker 2: going for five seventy two on a todd like winning
- 20:56Speaker 2: that game because it was kind of an important game,
- 20:58Speaker 2: like a lot of part exactly, a lot of people
- 21:01Speaker 2: were like you lose, we lose that game. It's like
- 21:03Speaker 2: it's the rails are off there, Like wasn't gonna I
- 21:07Speaker 2: wasn't gonna let that happen, especially with that being like
- 21:09Speaker 2: my first real start, So that was very important, like
- 21:13Speaker 2: a real moment of like yeah I can. That was
- 21:16Speaker 2: when I went from being like I could be a
- 21:17Speaker 2: contributor to being the guy versus first play of the
- 21:22Speaker 2: twenty would that be twenty five season or twenty four
- 21:25Speaker 2: to twenty five season play Fresno State? Yeah, the opening
- 21:30Speaker 2: kick return, I just sprint. I'm I was one of
- 21:34Speaker 2: the shield guys last year, like full wed shield run
- 21:39Speaker 2: through it like back up to the ten yard line
- 21:42Speaker 2: is just sprint at some crazy linebacker at the five
- 21:44Speaker 2: position and I got a pancake on the opening kickoff
- 21:48Speaker 2: and I was like, all right, I can do this.
- 21:50Speaker 2: That was That was kind of my moment. Washington. Washington
- 21:55Speaker 2: was home this year. Last year was away and we
- 21:57Speaker 2: lost that game. I don't want to talk about it.
- 21:59Speaker 3: Shot out Jack Tittle.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Dude, it wasn't that loud.
- 22:03Speaker 4: It's beautiful though. The drive up we're driving on like
- 22:06Speaker 4: the bridge and we see like the boats in the water.
- 22:08Speaker 4: I'm like, wow, this place is. I can move to
- 22:09Speaker 4: Seattle like that was. It's beautiful.
- 22:11Speaker 3: That city seem sick that Actually I wanted to ask
- 22:14Speaker 3: besides the Big House, this might be a two parter. Well,
- 22:17Speaker 3: the first one is like favorite stadium you played at
- 22:19Speaker 3: it's not Michigan. And then the other one is besides
- 22:22Speaker 3: the Michigan State and Ohio State, who do you all
- 22:24Speaker 3: hate the most in the Big Ten Conference?
- 22:27Speaker 7: Rival talk?
- 22:29Speaker 4: Stadium wise, like Washington's fire like Washington, that's that's the
- 22:33Speaker 4: best stadium that I've seen. I think because I haven't
- 22:35Speaker 4: been to like I've been to Heavy Valley that the
- 22:37Speaker 4: stadium is like it's allowed, but it's.
- 22:39Speaker 3: So ugly, like it's so ugly of concrete.
- 22:43Speaker 4: And then yeah, but like Washington, that stadium is beautiful, man,
- 22:46Speaker 4: like Seattle's beautiful city.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Like the second part is going to get you all
- 22:50Speaker 3: in trouble, bolton Board materially, you don't have to answer it.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Rivalry, Well, I'll landswer to the stadium because I'll give
- 22:58Speaker 2: you more time to think about who who we can
- 23:00Speaker 2: ruffle feathers Worth because I already went onto the podcast
- 23:03Speaker 2: and said Michigan State sucks. So I know, I mean
- 23:05Speaker 2: like I was a little fired up. I went a
- 23:08Speaker 2: little aggressive.
- 23:09Speaker 3: I was.
- 23:09Speaker 2: I was just happy to be here, guys. But I'm
- 23:14Speaker 2: not back Michigan, but like, yeah, I was, I was
- 23:20Speaker 2: fired up. Now, as far as stadium, Washington's most pretty,
- 23:24Speaker 2: but like as far as coolest vibe, just kind of
- 23:27Speaker 2: being there, it might be like Nebraska Illinois.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Nebraska by three touchdowns. Yeah, I mean, all the juice
- 23:36Speaker 1: is out of that place almost.
- 23:40Speaker 2: They were in the balloons were cool.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Is one of the coolest things in college football, like
- 23:45Speaker 1: that whole I've also heard that Iowa was really cool.
- 23:48Speaker 2: You went to Iowa?
- 23:49Speaker 4: Right, Oh no, we never haven't four years we have
- 23:53Speaker 4: even been at Oregon.
- 23:56Speaker 2: We go to Oregon this year we go to Austen.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Will be fun. And then as far as like people
- 24:02Speaker 2: that we just like, I guess I'd have to put
- 24:05Speaker 2: it at like someone that I thought was going to
- 24:08Speaker 2: offer me and then it so like it's more like personal. Yeah,
- 24:11Speaker 2: would be either SC or U c l A. Like
- 24:13Speaker 2: both of them they're supposed to like offer me, and
- 24:16Speaker 2: then like neither of them offered me in their backyard
- 24:20Speaker 2: in my back home state, and I was like super excited,
- 24:23Speaker 2: super pumped to talk to both of them.
- 24:24Speaker 1: And then who would you rather go on to becides
- 24:26Speaker 1: U c l A or UC of those two.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it would have really came down to a lot
- 24:31Speaker 2: of factors, like how much flight time I would.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Get, how much money they're getting.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Yeah, a little bread never hurts. Huh.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Now that's fair. I like that because I feel like
- 24:40Speaker 1: you're not giving too much bulletin bull like that that everybody.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Has, that everybody has.
- 24:44Speaker 2: That that's like a good one to if you want
- 24:47Speaker 2: to represent your state, you're I guess it's not my city,
- 24:50Speaker 2: but it was my parents' city, you know what I mean?
- 24:52Speaker 2: Like La La is important to me. That's where my
- 24:54Speaker 2: family's from. Yeah, but now I'm out here in ann
- 24:56Speaker 2: Arbor and I have zero regrets.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Zero outside the football culture and in Arbor. What's y'all
- 25:02Speaker 1: favorite aspect of that town?
- 25:05Speaker 4: The restaurants. But I've been me, and I like me,
- 25:10Speaker 4: and I like some of the other d lemon. We've
- 25:12Speaker 4: been going to some restaurants, like exploring it, and I
- 25:15Speaker 4: like that side.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Because you've got money now, huh yeah, yeah, man.
- 25:20Speaker 4: We went from three hundred dollars a month. Man, let
- 25:21Speaker 4: me explore and exploring.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Like you know, like dude, our first year here, we
- 25:26Speaker 2: made three hundred dollars a month.
- 25:27Speaker 4: Yeah, in the dorms were inms.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Three hundred dollars a month.
- 25:30Speaker 4: That was.
- 25:31Speaker 2: That was basically how like college football was before before
- 25:34Speaker 2: everything like the thing went up a little bit. But yeah,
- 25:37Speaker 2: three hundred dollars a month to now these crazy an
- 25:41Speaker 2: IL contracts, Like what the heck?
- 25:47Speaker 1: Yeah, JPS, if there's any fun first purchases.
- 25:51Speaker 4: So uh yeah, I bought a bought a car. I
- 25:54Speaker 4: was driving the hon A CRV my parents. How a CRV?
- 25:56Speaker 4: Nah about? I bought a BMW X five in competition,
- 26:02Speaker 4: I know the cr vs bro my god, it feels
- 26:05Speaker 4: like a downgrade, especially in getting gas, Like.
- 26:11Speaker 2: I guess it's I guess mine would probably be the
- 26:13Speaker 2: car to like I about a Maserati.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Dang, and that's not the most expensive purchase. I don't know.
- 26:24Speaker 2: I do own I own the house, but that's with
- 26:25Speaker 2: my family. So my family kind of went these on
- 26:28Speaker 2: the house. They stay up here during the fall with me,
- 26:32Speaker 2: so get home cooked meals.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Heck, yeah, they get to.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Come to every single one of my games. Vary, but
- 26:39Speaker 2: the Maserati was mentioned.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Hey, who's got the on y'all team? Who's got the
- 26:44Speaker 1: most expensive cars? A Bryce Hunter? But he's got that lambow,
- 26:47Speaker 1: doesn't he?
- 26:48Speaker 7: Or he?
- 26:51Speaker 3: Yeah, him and Marsh were taking photo that.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Was that was that was them traveling. So I don't
- 26:57Speaker 2: expensive car.
- 26:58Speaker 4: I think, who oh, let's just go Biff.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Biff drives the rolls.
- 27:03Speaker 2: But Likeff used.
- 27:04Speaker 1: To pull up.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Driving, that was gonna be like a beat up trunk.
- 27:12Speaker 2: He drives a cooling in.
- 27:14Speaker 4: Yeah it's a flexorro like shout out, Biff. I don't
- 27:19Speaker 4: know if I'm out, But he like, you know, the
- 27:21Speaker 4: spirit of ecstasy on the top. He would keep it
- 27:23Speaker 4: on lock. So the spirit of ecstasy. Never went down,
- 27:25Speaker 4: never went down.
- 27:26Speaker 3: Yeah, that is so funny.
- 27:31Speaker 4: It's so it was a beautiful car player with the
- 27:35Speaker 4: most expensive car. Oh no, man, there's guys with multiple cars. Yeah,
- 27:40Speaker 4: they got some some nice ask.
- 27:43Speaker 1: I can't imagine. The parking lots these days are really prominent,
- 27:46Speaker 1: Like college football programs. The parking lots just gotta be
- 27:50Speaker 1: millions of dollars.
- 27:51Speaker 2: It's probably just like souped up trucks and hellcats.
- 27:54Speaker 1: That's about all.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Like, those are the two things. You got, your your
- 27:58Speaker 2: big old Lineman driving those souped up truck, crazy Silverado's
- 28:02Speaker 2: zel like with the with the big old Corvette motors
- 28:05Speaker 2: and them.
- 28:05Speaker 1: And then you got yeah, very scat packs.
- 28:09Speaker 4: The super duringos Man.
- 28:13Speaker 3: We got so many, it says Michigan, more like a
- 28:24Speaker 3: Richigan rich Agan. Yeah, my guess is that's a good guess.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Okay, do I get one guess?
- 28:36Speaker 3: I get a guess. I don't know, I know exactly
- 28:41Speaker 3: who it is. You'll guess no, no, no, Jery.
- 28:46Speaker 2: So it's got to be Jack.
- 28:49Speaker 3: You could be talking about.
- 28:53Speaker 1: That's fair.
- 28:53Speaker 2: That's fair my guess.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Honestly, that would have been my guess to chef.
- 28:59Speaker 3: Really, I feel like this got Derek written all over it.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Honestly.
- 29:02Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a that's a Derek side quest.
- 29:05Speaker 1: That is all right? So you did say kind of backtracking, U,
- 29:09Speaker 1: C l A or USC would have been an awesome
- 29:11Speaker 1: school if you got offered. What is one school in
- 29:15Speaker 1: the nation that if you if you're not giving any
- 29:17Speaker 1: shade in Michigan that you'd love to go play for today?
- 29:19Speaker 3: Wait, also, I also still want to know who Trade
- 29:22Speaker 3: doesn't like besides Michigan Sate. Don't have to say okay, yeah,
- 29:25Speaker 3: I don't want to let them get away with that.
- 29:27Speaker 4: I was gonna. I was thinking, like who gave me
- 29:29Speaker 4: like the most troublehood? Who I felt like like the grittiest,
- 29:32Speaker 4: like like push after the play tipe guys, And this
- 29:35Speaker 4: might be underrated and they're underrated line like Northwestern they're
- 29:40Speaker 4: an underrated.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Line cheap shot in people.
- 29:42Speaker 4: Yeah, they were physical and then they would go through
- 29:45Speaker 4: the whistle and like we were in Wrigley Field, that
- 29:49Speaker 4: that would Wriggle Field. We played at field. That was beautiful.
- 29:52Speaker 3: That's pretty cool to be to be able to play
- 29:54Speaker 3: at Wrigley Yeah, that was pretty That's not like a
- 29:55Speaker 3: bad ball game.
- 29:56Speaker 4: I like, Yeah, twenty five people in the stands too,
- 29:58Speaker 4: so like they're everything. It did felt personally. I was like, man,
- 30:02Speaker 4: they weren't even they were in big ship talkers, but
- 30:04Speaker 4: like they were physical and they like you could feel them.
- 30:07Speaker 4: Like after the gain, I was like these guys.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Were Dude, they're talking about that Northwestern game. There's a
- 30:12Speaker 2: terrible clip of me landing on my head. Do you
- 30:15Speaker 2: remember that, dude? I got flipped? If you pulled it up?
- 30:19Speaker 2: Fox Sports reposted it. Yes, it was bad, and it
- 30:23Speaker 2: was like, man, I'm gonna sit my dumb ass down.
- 30:25Speaker 2: That's the cat like the sound behind it, and I'm like, really,
- 30:29Speaker 2: come on, man, I like I I like got like
- 30:32Speaker 2: a like a hip pointer and my whole back like
- 30:35Speaker 2: spassed up.
- 30:36Speaker 3: It was bad.
- 30:37Speaker 4: Oh I do remember that?
- 30:38Speaker 7: Oh?
- 30:39Speaker 2: Like Fox Sports posted reposted that, or like dude posted
- 30:41Speaker 2: it on their on their main page. You did, I
- 30:46Speaker 2: But now you were saying who would he go play for?
- 30:49Speaker 1: Yeah? Right now today is in May? Was it sixth?
- 30:52Speaker 1: Who if you could leave Michigan? And we're not saying
- 30:54Speaker 1: you want to leave Michigan, but who would you go
- 30:57Speaker 1: play for? Today? In twenty twenty six and College Football
- 31:00Speaker 1: World No In I own money. I just person you
- 31:05Speaker 1: can say coach.
- 31:06Speaker 2: Yeah, it would be my old tight ends coach Steve
- 31:08Speaker 2: Casula wherever he ends up, Like I would love to
- 31:11Speaker 2: play with him if it's the NFL college like that amazing.
- 31:15Speaker 2: He's an amazing person. Whether I can coach side by
- 31:17Speaker 2: side with him, Like he's one of those people like
- 31:20Speaker 2: I would follow the store for Like love that guy.
- 31:24Speaker 2: He's made me who I am today.
- 31:26Speaker 4: I love it Texas right now, that's not a bad
- 31:30Speaker 4: place for say or.
- 31:31Speaker 1: In I own money.
- 31:32Speaker 3: Yeah, NFL, that's pretty good school.
- 31:37Speaker 4: I was just factored in, like uh in Io like city,
- 31:42Speaker 4: like they're good at football right now, Like I got
- 31:44Speaker 4: I got one of my boys down there. Like I
- 31:46Speaker 4: would say Miami, Like Miami seems kind of fun.
- 31:49Speaker 1: He's got to visit Miami And if if I was
- 31:52Speaker 1: lucky to even play college football at y'all's level, Miami
- 31:55Speaker 1: would be an awesome place to go the workouts in
- 31:58Speaker 1: the summer. You gotta earn in your spot in Miami.
- 32:01Speaker 1: But man, that is one program they got building back
- 32:04Speaker 1: up to uh a historic level. Marrow christ Ball too
- 32:08Speaker 1: is just an absolute dogs like him and maybe have
- 32:12Speaker 1: some similarity crossovers in the vinn diagram. But yeah, Miami
- 32:16Speaker 1: is a good answer. And so it's Texas.
- 32:18Speaker 2: So what what NFL team do you.
- 32:21Speaker 1: All feel like?
- 32:22Speaker 2: For you defense most fun defense part of offense?
- 32:27Speaker 3: Do you think that audience?
- 32:29Speaker 4: Do you have an answer go for I'm d lineman
- 32:32Speaker 4: right now, But the Texans are crazy. They have fun
- 32:36Speaker 4: over there, like yeah, Will Anderson, Man, they just got
- 32:40Speaker 4: they got some guys down there, a good team.
- 32:46Speaker 2: That's a great wow, and the guys are awesome.
- 32:49Speaker 4: Yeah, they just drafted Kim McDonald from Ohio State. They're
- 32:52Speaker 4: gonna be Yeah. I mean, bro, they're gonna be good.
- 32:54Speaker 4: They seemed fun to like that defense seems fun to
- 32:56Speaker 4: play in general.
- 32:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean you got about to have him on
- 33:00Speaker 2: on busting here pretty soon. But the Sean McVay offense,
- 33:03Speaker 2: the way they use their tight ends, like the way
- 33:05Speaker 2: they used hybrid receiver tight ends, like all of it. Right,
- 33:08Speaker 2: I could go in line, I could line up, go crack,
- 33:11Speaker 2: crack block, do all of it. So being an offense
- 33:14Speaker 2: similar to that, I'm not saying rams you have to drive,
- 33:17Speaker 2: but I would love it. I'd love it.
- 33:18Speaker 3: He just wants against the Cardinals.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Yeah, two free wins against Cards. I want to beat
- 33:24Speaker 2: the Niners every single every single year. That'd be great.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Dude.
- 33:29Speaker 2: George Skittle is still my favorite favorite player period, like
- 33:33Speaker 2: favorite player in the NFL. It's it's George Kittle, friend
- 33:36Speaker 2: of our show.
- 33:37Speaker 1: He's been on George, which I assume George Kittle listens
- 33:41Speaker 1: every week. But he still owes us a game more jersey.
- 33:44Speaker 1: That he said, and he actually went to the extent
- 33:46Speaker 1: to he d m me on Twitter and was like, hey, uh,
- 33:50Speaker 1: send me the address for this jersey and I sent
- 33:52Speaker 1: it to him. He's a busy guy, you know.
- 33:55Speaker 2: He and he know he lost in transit, lost in transit.
- 33:58Speaker 1: They could have been And that's why I'm I'm hoping
- 34:00Speaker 1: because we consider Georgia close friend of ours. We ran
- 34:03Speaker 1: into him at the Super Bowl. He's always been great
- 34:05Speaker 1: to us, a kind man. So we're we're not at
- 34:09Speaker 1: the point where it's gun to the head, but we
- 34:11Speaker 1: are loading the gun. So, okay, outside of football, if
- 34:18Speaker 1: you guys weren't playing, what what would life be like
- 34:20Speaker 1: for y'all? Like, what do you want to do if
- 34:22Speaker 1: if you guys weren't like trending for the NFL?
- 34:25Speaker 3: You'd also add like what are you doing in school?
- 34:27Speaker 1: Yeah, that too.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Yeah for me student first, I was always going to
- 34:32Speaker 2: play like college sports of some sort, whether it was
- 34:34Speaker 2: gonna be rugby or football. So I guess I would
- 34:37Speaker 2: probably be doing rugby at like an ivy or something
- 34:39Speaker 2: like that. But as far as just academically, if football
- 34:44Speaker 2: were taken away from me now, I would still go
- 34:46Speaker 2: into like football operations stuff. On the business side of it,
- 34:51Speaker 2: whether it's agency, whether that's starting and recruiting and working
- 34:54Speaker 2: my way up to being either like a GM or
- 34:56Speaker 2: something of that nature, would be like kind of my
- 34:58Speaker 2: dream dream situation. And I want to help like put
- 35:02Speaker 2: together like a union for a Double A players like
- 35:06Speaker 2: things like that. That's that's what I'm really really into,
- 35:09Speaker 2: like building that like business community around myself.
- 35:13Speaker 4: Mm hmm. Yeah, that's a great question. I mean major
- 35:18Speaker 4: in communications right now, so I think maybe something to
- 35:21Speaker 4: do with that, like, but man, that's a that's a
- 35:25Speaker 4: great question, hopefully. I mean, I think I'd still be
- 35:28Speaker 4: playing a sport. I'll probably be playing baseball.
- 35:30Speaker 2: But you're going to the league, bro, don't even worry
- 35:35Speaker 2: about it. I mean, you're going to the league's.
- 35:45Speaker 4: En We asked questions.
- 35:49Speaker 7: Came.
- 35:49Speaker 3: Yeah, that the like summer interns.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Yeah, those are the non sport athletes.
- 35:55Speaker 3: I don't think that. I don't think the Michigan interns
- 35:57Speaker 3: last year came out here. I don't even think we
- 35:58Speaker 3: had started.
- 35:59Speaker 1: No, we I don't think we had that. We started
- 36:01Speaker 1: like a month after right before Grinders. Yeah, I can't
- 36:08Speaker 1: remember really all those questions we asked the guys who
- 36:11Speaker 1: most of them now currently work here. We're pretty much
- 36:13Speaker 1: like gotcha journalism questions.
- 36:15Speaker 3: I mean we could ask like what, like, what's I
- 36:17Speaker 3: mean it's only Wednesday.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, let me give you guys a little compliment,
- 36:21Speaker 1: like not to dig on Nico and what's the other
- 36:25Speaker 1: news name. Not to dig on those guys. And they
- 36:29Speaker 1: did an awesome job. We had a great time, you
- 36:32Speaker 1: guys being like very prominent, you know, Michigan football players.
- 36:36Speaker 1: It's cool to see you guys jumping to learn things
- 36:39Speaker 1: and seeing me all at desks the last couple of
- 36:41Speaker 1: days and like really trying to evolve yourselves in the
- 36:44Speaker 1: work process because like at the end of the day,
- 36:46Speaker 1: y'all necessarily wouldn't have to the same reason we just
- 36:50Speaker 1: asked that question. You're like, man, I'm going to the league.
- 36:52Speaker 1: You didn't say that. We said that, you know, and
- 36:55Speaker 1: we believe that. But it's cool to see you guys
- 36:57Speaker 1: jump in the mix and like really be eager to learn.
- 37:00Speaker 1: And I know everyone here appreciates that. So again, kudos y'all.
- 37:04Speaker 1: And it's already been dope and we're only halfway through
- 37:06Speaker 1: the week. But I feel like, what's y'all's first thoughts
- 37:10Speaker 1: on this work, because it's been an interesting week no
- 37:12Speaker 1: matter what we have, it's been a weird week in
- 37:15Speaker 1: general for what's going on.
- 37:17Speaker 3: And you can also add like favorite parts so far,
- 37:20Speaker 3: even though, like we said, it's Wednesday, we got half
- 37:23Speaker 3: the week to go.
- 37:23Speaker 2: The fact that we just called a team meeting and
- 37:25Speaker 2: sent Matt alone to the other side of the fricking country. Dude,
- 37:31Speaker 2: we just sent him to go get a car. Now
- 37:33Speaker 2: he's currently eating a seventy two ounce steak.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I think he's he's live or live.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Dude, he's live eating a seventy two ounces.
- 37:40Speaker 3: I think they were trying to get Wi Fi at
- 37:42Speaker 3: the restaurant to go live.
- 37:43Speaker 1: They're not live yet, dude.
- 37:45Speaker 2: The fact that I got to actually make like the
- 37:47Speaker 2: edit for it, and like the fact that you guys
- 37:49Speaker 2: actually posted that, right, A guy who's like, yeah, I've
- 37:52Speaker 2: done a little bit of Funno edit him, because I've
- 37:53Speaker 2: done like TikTok and crap like that, or like make
- 37:56Speaker 2: my own posters for camps and stuff. But like you guys, actually, y'all,
- 38:00Speaker 2: y'all got a lot more followers to me. Let's just
- 38:02Speaker 2: put it that way, And y'all just posted that. I
- 38:04Speaker 2: was like, I'm I'm pumped. Like the fact that you
- 38:06Speaker 2: guys give is kind of a little creative liberty to
- 38:09Speaker 2: just play around. I know, you got to make cliffs
- 38:12Speaker 2: that got posted.
- 38:13Speaker 4: Like yeah, I don't know, I mean, shout out Jared.
- 38:16Speaker 4: He pretty much walked me through everything. I never used
- 38:18Speaker 4: premiere before. So, like, I think my favorite part of
- 38:22Speaker 4: this is just like being around the guys, Like you
- 38:23Speaker 4: have an amazing like culture here, Like I'm downstairs and
- 38:27Speaker 4: like it's all jokes. It doesn't feel like I feel
- 38:29Speaker 4: like dang. Like it doesn't feel like work, Like it
- 38:31Speaker 4: doesn't feel like I'm at school like trying to grind
- 38:33Speaker 4: out like projects. It feels like pretty cool. It's like, oh,
- 38:37Speaker 4: team meeting about to go play four square, Like that's
- 38:40Speaker 4: that's like, that's super chill like I think that's my favorite,
- 38:43Speaker 4: like my favorite like thing here. I guess it's saying
- 38:46Speaker 4: like it doesn't have to I don't have to go
- 38:48Speaker 4: like working in office if not playing football and just
- 38:50Speaker 4: like hate my life. Like yeah, yeah, that's pretty much
- 38:52Speaker 4: that's the thing.
- 38:53Speaker 2: I got another thing I want to add, like kind
- 38:56Speaker 2: of kind of on that jokes jokes thing you guys
- 38:59Speaker 2: making a show up in suits or maybe that was
- 39:01Speaker 2: just like show up in suits.
- 39:04Speaker 1: That's what happened.
- 39:05Speaker 2: We didn't.
- 39:05Speaker 3: Yeah, the intern showed up in suits last year.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Y'all picked dude. It's so. And then like Derek walking
- 39:10Speaker 2: up here being like or he didn't walk up here,
- 39:13Speaker 2: but like I'm over there grinding out something. He's like, hey, Coop,
- 39:17Speaker 2: you got him doing something? No, man, we just finished,
- 39:22Speaker 2: all right, come on, you come with me, dude. I
- 39:24Speaker 2: thought I thought I was. I thought I was gonna
- 39:26Speaker 2: put to work.
- 39:27Speaker 3: You're finally gonna put to work.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll just play Madden like it was. Sorry, n
- 39:34Speaker 2: C double A. I don't know if we do. You
- 39:36Speaker 2: all have rights to Madden? Yeah yeah yeah yeah. Well
- 39:40Speaker 2: the fact is, and then I you know, handed him
- 39:43Speaker 2: the game because I was I could have I could
- 39:45Speaker 2: have rinsed him. I was I was up, I was
- 39:46Speaker 2: up seven just just alright.
- 39:50Speaker 3: They were doing they were doing a busting Bowl Natty
- 39:52Speaker 3: in there, busting Bowl National Championship.
- 39:58Speaker 2: Can we can? We can we get?
- 40:00Speaker 4: I don't have the game?
- 40:02Speaker 2: How do you not have the game?
- 40:03Speaker 4: I give the code to my brother and then I
- 40:05Speaker 4: don't have five. But it's like in my closet right.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Now, working your brother. I'm yeah, yeah, I was gonna say,
- 40:12Speaker 2: is it your brother in the game too?
- 40:14Speaker 1: Well? Yeah, yeah, he.
- 40:15Speaker 3: Will be yeah is he really?
- 40:20Speaker 4: Yeah, you're younger than me.
- 40:22Speaker 1: But I mean, like, are you hard on him or
- 40:24Speaker 1: are you like trying to like coach him up in
- 40:26Speaker 1: the right ways? Are you kind of like motherfucking him
- 40:28Speaker 1: in public? And then probably be like, hey man, we
- 40:30Speaker 1: gotta tighten these things up.
- 40:31Speaker 4: Nah, No, it's not a relationship. I just tell him
- 40:33Speaker 4: the truth, Like I mean, I don't lie to him.
- 40:35Speaker 4: I just be like he'll be like yeah, am I
- 40:36Speaker 4: Like am I slow right now? I'm like yeah, I'm
- 40:40Speaker 4: like he's not. It's nothing like he'll tell me the
- 40:42Speaker 4: truth too, Like if he's like, bro, like you look
- 40:45Speaker 4: ridiculous right now, It's like Okay, I can trust him,
- 40:47Speaker 4: you know for sure, Like we've always had that relationship
- 40:50Speaker 4: where we could tell each other the truth and like, yeah,
- 40:53Speaker 4: so right now, it's just like a big adjustment because
- 40:55Speaker 4: he's coming from Western Illinois. He transferred in like he's
- 40:59Speaker 4: just the grinder though he's he's his work ethic is crazy.
- 41:02Speaker 1: What was alike when you found out your brother's coming
- 41:04Speaker 1: to play ball with you?
- 41:06Speaker 4: I was, I was that was my life's complete.
- 41:07Speaker 1: You know.
- 41:08Speaker 4: It's like my parents they don't have to go like
- 41:10Speaker 4: choose between going to his Western Illinois games.
- 41:12Speaker 1: And it's like no disrespect to Western Illinois. It's like,
- 41:15Speaker 1: you know, the game at the big House might be
- 41:17Speaker 1: a little more important. Yeah, you know, it's like we
- 41:21Speaker 1: don't we love our sons.
- 41:21Speaker 3: Now it's two birds one so now, yeah, which is awesome.
- 41:25Speaker 4: My parents they don't even see I don't think that
- 41:27Speaker 4: they see even saw.
- 41:27Speaker 1: It like that, but they probably did. They probably loving
- 41:30Speaker 1: great parents. Where if I had kids, you know, hey,
- 41:34Speaker 1: you better be d one, you better be a starter,
- 41:36Speaker 1: you better be doing it.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Like if your brothers d one and you're not, I'm
- 41:40Speaker 2: going to your brother. That's a crazy take. Crazy, that's
- 41:44Speaker 2: not unheard of, not at all.
- 41:46Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, it's it's been great having him there,
- 41:49Speaker 4: like shout, shoutout, Chris. We don't they put the freshmen
- 41:53Speaker 4: in or like in the transfers, they put them in
- 41:55Speaker 4: a nice ass apartments. Yeah, but it's expensive, so I'm
- 41:58Speaker 4: not living out there. I'm not living on campus.
- 42:05Speaker 1: Pretty yeah, pretty on the dot. We do need to
- 42:08Speaker 1: get tapped into this live stream for mad. Do we
- 42:11Speaker 1: have any other questions before we kind of start wrapping
- 42:13Speaker 1: things up.
- 42:14Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 42:15Speaker 3: I'm not the question guy.
- 42:16Speaker 4: I got a question for you guys.
- 42:18Speaker 3: All right, let's go.
- 42:19Speaker 4: If you weren't working for Busting, what would you be
- 42:23Speaker 4: doing right now?
- 42:24Speaker 1: Probably playing the league? You know? I JP? Do you
- 42:29Speaker 1: want to like you here?
- 42:31Speaker 2: I walk this one well, I mean JP, I think
- 42:35Speaker 2: JP has got the most followers of all of us, so.
- 42:39Speaker 1: JP on Twitter?
- 42:40Speaker 7: Does I think if I was completely removed from Busting
- 42:46Speaker 7: and like doing work with brands and everything, I'd probably
- 42:49Speaker 7: be a teacher. I love working with kids or like
- 42:53Speaker 7: maybe a like a camp direct, like a summer camp director,
- 42:58Speaker 7: and like, yeah, I just I get so much joy
- 43:00Speaker 7: out of working with kids trying to help, you know,
- 43:03Speaker 7: like mold them into good, good people going forward, and
- 43:08Speaker 7: or I would love to do my own podcast on
- 43:10Speaker 7: the side, which I would love for it to blow up.
- 43:13Speaker 2: But yeah, that's that's probably be my answer.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Okay, JP be an all star teacher, and if you've
- 43:19Speaker 1: known JP for five minutes, you know immediately he would
- 43:22Speaker 1: fit that mold so quickly.
- 43:24Speaker 2: But what subject, that's the real question.
- 43:26Speaker 1: I know, probably like a like a college course on entrepreneurs.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Oh so like an entrepreneurship class. Yeah, that's that's actually far.
- 43:34Speaker 2: That's actually far.
- 43:35Speaker 3: I think, do you want to go? You want to go?
- 43:37Speaker 1: You know what yours is?
- 43:38Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 43:38Speaker 3: I would say, like probably if I wasn't a bust
- 43:42Speaker 3: and I would be doing graphic design. My goal, like
- 43:44Speaker 3: when I started out design was to be like a
- 43:47Speaker 3: pro baseball football team or like a high level like
- 43:51Speaker 3: college like basketball football, uh like in their creative team
- 43:55Speaker 3: whatever like that. But I would say if I wasn't
- 43:57Speaker 3: doing graphics like period, I'd probably still be like in
- 44:00Speaker 3: the family business doing like mortgage loans back in Texas,
- 44:04Speaker 3: and I do love Texas. It was hard to leave Texas,
- 44:07Speaker 3: so I would definitely still be back home like DFW
- 44:11Speaker 3: because like sometimes I get fomo. I know my my family,
- 44:14Speaker 3: like my brother and dad probably get fomo for something
- 44:16Speaker 3: I'm doing. But sometimes they're like they're going golfing today.
- 44:19Speaker 3: I'm like, uh, like I'm not. I'm not back there.
- 44:21Speaker 3: I can't hang with them, so I'd probably be back
- 44:23Speaker 3: home doing the doing the family stuff.
- 44:25Speaker 1: That's real. I like a realistic option. My dad I
- 44:31Speaker 1: did like door to door sales and a couple different
- 44:33Speaker 1: sales jobs. Like realistically, probably like a sales job. I
- 44:37Speaker 1: know I'd be good at it and make good money.
- 44:39Speaker 1: I wouldn't necessarily love it, but an unrealistic one that
- 44:43Speaker 1: I could, I would. My soul would be rich, but
- 44:46Speaker 1: my pockets would be broke. Would be like ocean photography.
- 44:48Speaker 1: My brother lives out in Hawaii, and there was a
- 44:51Speaker 1: moment before I started working here where I wanted to
- 44:53Speaker 1: go and move out there and like basically film all
- 44:56Speaker 1: kinds of like action sports stuff on water and mainly
- 45:00Speaker 1: surfing stuff because I love swimming and I'm not a
- 45:03Speaker 1: good surfer, but I am a good swimmer. So being
- 45:05Speaker 1: able to just like be on the water and capture
- 45:07Speaker 1: that and just kind of probably build like a following
- 45:10Speaker 1: around that because there's not like you don't just like
- 45:12Speaker 1: apply to be like an ocean photographer. It's not like
- 45:14Speaker 1: jobs jumping out. But I guess yeah, that'd be my
- 45:17Speaker 1: like to kind of what if, you know, a realistic one.
- 45:20Speaker 1: And then somewhere where I'm out at the beach just
- 45:23Speaker 1: hanging out, putting on too much sunscreen. So yeah, I
- 45:25Speaker 1: think that's where we're at. That's for the league, so
- 45:28Speaker 1: or the league.
- 45:29Speaker 2: Yeah, go to the league.
- 45:31Speaker 3: It early me too early early, he said.
- 45:35Speaker 2: JP said he chose not to cho Yeah, it was
- 45:39Speaker 2: a choice, you know, dude, Well.
- 45:41Speaker 1: You guys actually killed this interview. Yeah, great answers. And
- 45:44Speaker 1: I know that some Michigan diehards are gonna flood into
- 45:47Speaker 1: our mentions, which will be awesome for us and for
- 45:50Speaker 1: y'all kind of get more of a you know, just
- 45:53Speaker 1: some some good conversation flow out there. And you guys
- 45:55Speaker 1: are great at what you're doing. We appreciate the work
- 45:57Speaker 1: you are putting in. It's been dope, Avenue y'all.
- 46:00Speaker 2: Thank you. We appreciate you guys just kind of leading
- 46:03Speaker 2: us having having having a good time out here playing
- 46:05Speaker 2: with four square getting we.
- 46:06Speaker 3: Got to play right after this, getting ratch for it.
- 46:09Speaker 3: We haven't played today.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Yet hopefully will.
- 46:19Speaker 4: Appreciate you. Thank thanks, thanks for this, like it's a
- 46:23Speaker 4: crazy opportunity. Appreciate you guys.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Dude, We're excited to come up to to Michigan again
- 46:27Speaker 1: the Fall have some actual friends there and you know,
- 46:30Speaker 1: just to see you guys dominate. So best of luck
- 46:32Speaker 1: in the future. Stoke for this week, Coop, you want
- 46:35Speaker 1: to close us out.
- 46:37Speaker 3: Thank you guys so much for watching episode forty seven,
- 46:40Speaker 3: the Clay Matthews USC episode, the Chris Cooley episode. I
- 46:43Speaker 3: forgot the other one, but thank Lynch, John Lynch for
- 46:46Speaker 3: Downs Legend. Anyways, all y'all tune in next week episode
- 46:49Speaker 3: forty eight. Thank you,
