- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a Bramble Jam podcast.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:25Speaker 2: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater.
- 0:29Speaker 2: On today's episode, we are discussing Providence Falls Episode three,
- 0:35Speaker 2: Movie three, Part three, Thief of Fate, the third in
- 0:39Speaker 2: a trilogy of Providence Falls movies. This one originally aired
- 0:42Speaker 2: on Hallmark Channel on Saturday, August sixteenth, and is now
- 0:46Speaker 2: available to stream on the Hallmark Plus streaming platform. You
- 0:50Speaker 2: can find us elsewhere when you're not listening to the podcast.
- 0:53Speaker 2: The first place to look would be for us on Instagram,
- 0:55Speaker 2: where we are Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 0:58Speaker 1: We also have a Facebook group if you are looking
- 1:00Speaker 1: for people to chat with about Hallmark movies. There's been
- 1:06Speaker 1: lots of chatter about this particular movie in our Girls
- 1:10Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark Facebook group. Have you been over there this morning?
- 1:14Speaker 2: I haven't been over there this morning, but as I
- 1:16Speaker 2: was compiling our listener mailbag episode which will come out tomorrow,
- 1:22Speaker 2: I believe as of the airing of this episode, lots
- 1:25Speaker 2: of Providence Falls talk and I have to say that
- 1:28Speaker 2: I'm taking some of the opinions quite personally, so that
- 1:32Speaker 2: should be an interesting conversation. But I don't think this
- 1:38Speaker 2: is not one of those movies where it's a universal experience.
- 1:40Speaker 2: People feel really strong in one way or the other.
- 1:43Speaker 2: And I've I've found it very interesting.
- 1:48Speaker 1: That I can't wait to get into the mail bag.
- 1:51Speaker 1: I definitely can't That's gonna be fun, that's gonna be
- 1:54Speaker 1: a big, long discussion. I think I'm excited for it.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yeah, speaking of mail bag mentioned, we do have a
- 2:00Speaker 2: new episode coming out tomorrow, but that means we are
- 2:02Speaker 2: in need of brand new listener mailbag submissions for our
- 2:05Speaker 2: next episode, so keep them coming. A lot of people say, like,
- 2:08Speaker 2: I always think of something I want to say while
- 2:10Speaker 2: I'm listening and then I just forget, And I totally
- 2:13Speaker 2: get it. If anybody gets that, it's me. But here
- 2:16Speaker 2: is your reminder. If you have something you want to say,
- 2:17Speaker 2: drop us an email or a voice message. Yeah, even
- 2:22Speaker 2: if you're just on Instagram, you can send a DM
- 2:25Speaker 2: to the email's probably better because that's where we like
- 2:28Speaker 2: compile in the dms. It can get lost a.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Little bit with the number of dms we get. But yeah,
- 2:34Speaker 1: I mean, if something comes to mind right away, please like,
- 2:38Speaker 1: let us know, however, send a carryer pigeon.
- 2:40Speaker 2: We don't care. All right, let's hear a synopsis for
- 2:44Speaker 2: Providence Falls, Thief of Fate.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Detectives Cora and Liam close in on solving their murder
- 2:51Speaker 1: case and rebel against the Angels, choosing to take fate
- 2:55Speaker 1: into their own hands. Uh spoiler alert. The whole thing
- 3:00Speaker 1: just tells you what happens and the synopsis star does
- 3:02Speaker 1: it not?
- 3:02Speaker 2: It really does? Oh my gosh, it really does. We
- 3:07Speaker 2: have Lucy Guests returning as director. She did direct the
- 3:10Speaker 2: first movie as well. I have some thoughts on Lucy's
- 3:13Speaker 2: directing all positive, don't freak out, but thrilled to have
- 3:17Speaker 2: her back, and just saw an announcement of a Christmas
- 3:20Speaker 2: movie she's directing. She's quickly becoming one of my faves,
- 3:23Speaker 2: very much looking forward to more from her. The teleplay
- 3:27Speaker 2: for this movie was written by Teresa Kale. She has
- 3:29Speaker 2: nine writing credits, having written multiple episodes of the series
- 3:32Speaker 2: Girl Meets World as well as Trolls Topi and The
- 3:37Speaker 2: one new casting edition we have for this episode is
- 3:41Speaker 2: one Brendan Penny, who appears as the Angel Gabriel. He's
- 3:46Speaker 2: not even credited on IMDb. For this movie. His last
- 3:51Speaker 2: IMDb credit is Private Princess Christmas from Countdown to Christmas
- 3:55Speaker 2: twenty twenty four. He also was in a novel on
- 3:58Speaker 2: the Wall in twenty twenty four, Love on the Danube
- 4:01Speaker 2: twenty twenty four, and Family Practice Mysteries in twenty twenty four,
- 4:05Speaker 2: Big twenty twenty four, Real Light twenty twenty five. So
- 4:07Speaker 2: I hope we're gonna see Brendan in an upcoming Countdown
- 4:11Speaker 2: to Christmas movie.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Man, I'll never forget Brendan Penny on the Hallmark Christmas
- 4:16Speaker 1: Cruise playing Family Feud. He was so funny, so so
- 4:20Speaker 1: into it.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I loved.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I was very entertaining, very entertaining.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Let's take aquick break and come right back with our
- 4:27Speaker 2: first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what was your first impression of
- 4:39Speaker 2: Providence Falls Thief of Fate?
- 4:41Speaker 1: Well, Finn moved on so fast even Hallmark was like,
- 4:45Speaker 1: whoa slow down, buddy.
- 4:50Speaker 2: My first impression is I'm gonna need Nil Materer to
- 4:52Speaker 2: be the villain in all of his movies going forward,
- 4:55Speaker 2: please and thank you. It's in my likes.
- 4:58Speaker 1: He's so good as a villain, the best lakes, so likable,
- 5:05Speaker 1: but like also you're a bad guy, and I love
- 5:08Speaker 1: it so very much. So if we can talk about
- 5:10Speaker 1: my first like, it's the Bail and Susette backstory here,
- 5:15Speaker 1: and finally we get some you know, we get some
- 5:21Speaker 1: information about Susette and how she's plucked out of purgatory
- 5:24Speaker 1: in exchange for like manipulating Cora and Finn, and I
- 5:28Speaker 1: feel like that's all juicy and yummy, and I loved
- 5:31Speaker 1: all that stuff. But it's the scene that Niall as
- 5:36Speaker 1: Bail does with Agon in the bar that I really
- 5:41Speaker 1: really loved.
- 5:42Speaker 2: He's so nasty and I just loved it. Yeah, he
- 5:48Speaker 2: really does play the person from the bad place really well. God,
- 5:52Speaker 2: I love it.
- 5:52Speaker 1: He's just like mean, mean, but like not I was
- 5:56Speaker 1: like mean but not scary, but kind of also really
- 5:58Speaker 1: scary when like someone like very calculated like that, right, Well,
- 6:03Speaker 1: Samiel was like, we're gonna find whoever was working for
- 6:05Speaker 1: you and take them out of the equation, and Bill's
- 6:06Speaker 1: like you can try.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Like, yeah, okay, m to your point. My one of
- 6:12Speaker 2: my likes of this movie was excellent use of guest stars.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Nile mat truly knocked it out of the park, like
- 6:17Speaker 2: he is was such a great surprise. A lot of
- 6:20Speaker 2: people knew who was coming. I don't watch the preview,
- 6:22Speaker 2: so I didn't, and I guess maybe I should have
- 6:24Speaker 2: because other people knew that Brendan Penny was in this
- 6:26Speaker 2: and I have no idea idea. Like when the Brendan
- 6:28Speaker 2: shows up on screen, I'm like, literally out loud. I
- 6:31Speaker 2: was like, look who it is. Brendan Penny was a
- 6:33Speaker 2: nice surprise. His role as Gabriel wasn't as strong as
- 6:37Speaker 2: the Bail role in my opinion. But I like when
- 6:41Speaker 2: they use big names for these little roles. It's just
- 6:45Speaker 2: nice for this regular Hallmark viewer. Nice little There are
- 6:49Speaker 2: no little roles, Megan, Well, correct, there's no small parts. Yes,
- 6:54Speaker 2: that's it.
- 6:55Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 6:55Speaker 2: I'm not in the industry. I don't know, but I
- 6:57Speaker 2: knew it was something along those lines.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Oh.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I like when they use big names for these brief
- 7:03Speaker 2: on screen appearances. There you go, there you go.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's like a fun I wondered if they were,
- 7:10Speaker 1: like if they were cast that way, or were they
- 7:13Speaker 1: just working nearby or they just have like a friendly
- 7:17Speaker 1: connection with like whomever and they're like, oh hey, let
- 7:19Speaker 1: me call my friend a nile mater and see if
- 7:21Speaker 1: he wants to do this.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Or you know. Yeah. To me, it seems like for
- 7:25Speaker 2: a role like that, it has got to be that
- 7:28Speaker 2: they were they either live in the area or they
- 7:30Speaker 2: were working in the area, because it's a lot to
- 7:32Speaker 2: fly them in and house them and all of that
- 7:36Speaker 2: just for a day, so they're knowing nothing about anything.
- 7:40Speaker 2: As referenced many times, it does seem more likely that
- 7:45Speaker 2: they're using local actors for short on screen appearance roles. Yeah.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it reminds me of that movie. I think it's
- 7:55Speaker 1: Heidelberg Holiday. Is that the one about like Jonathan Bennett
- 7:58Speaker 1: is like in the background because he just so.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Has he was there. Yeah, yeah, that was great funny.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I have another like, well, I've got lots of yes,
- 8:06Speaker 2: But I really liked the full circle moment we get.
- 8:09Speaker 2: It starts with Cora and her dad talking as he's
- 8:12Speaker 2: bringing her home from the hospital about how he remembered
- 8:14Speaker 2: when she was little he would take her to work
- 8:15Speaker 2: with him and she just loved it, and she's like,
- 8:17Speaker 2: I didn't, I just wanted to be near you. And
- 8:20Speaker 2: then it comes around at the end of the movie
- 8:22Speaker 2: where she leaves her role as a detective and she's
- 8:26Speaker 2: like I did this to stay close to you, Like
- 8:28Speaker 2: this was a way that you and I could be
- 8:30Speaker 2: in each other's lives. It wasn't my dream, and he's
- 8:36Speaker 2: there for it. And it's nice that she's not letting go.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Like we're led to believe like this was her big
- 8:42Speaker 2: dream to become a detective, and we realized that was
- 8:45Speaker 2: never her motivation.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Yeah, but the problem, the problem for me with all
- 8:51Speaker 1: of that is, you know, she was so for a
- 8:55Speaker 1: lack of better words, pissed off that her boss, the
- 9:00Speaker 1: she for whatever was questioning her instincts and whatever. And
- 9:04Speaker 1: that led me to believe like she was a really
- 9:07Speaker 1: good detective and she I guess both can exist. She
- 9:10Speaker 1: was a really good detective, but it wasn't her life's passion.
- 9:13Speaker 2: So it just.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Bothered me that she's like, yeah, I don't want to
- 9:18Speaker 1: do this.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I hear you, Like it felt like it was
- 9:21Speaker 2: too easy for her to let it go. Yeah to me,
- 9:24Speaker 2: hearing like talking about how she was bothered by her
- 9:27Speaker 2: Boston Take her seriously. I think you're right, Like, two
- 9:29Speaker 2: things can be true. This isn't my only goal in life,
- 9:33Speaker 2: But do I feel strongly enough about my ability to
- 9:37Speaker 2: make second chances of success that I'm really ready to
- 9:40Speaker 2: walk away from it. And also maybe it's not my dream,
- 9:44Speaker 2: but I'm a badass woman and I want to do
- 9:47Speaker 2: whatever I do well and be taken seriously. Yeah that's
- 9:51Speaker 2: fair because like how many people are there, Like a
- 9:53Speaker 2: lot of the dudes are just there to collect the
- 9:54Speaker 2: paycheck and they're being taken seriously. Mm hmmmmmmm. What else
- 10:01Speaker 2: did you like?
- 10:03Speaker 1: Speaking of Chief Boyd, Look, he's my MVP. I love
- 10:08Speaker 1: that Mattie Finocchio. We've been saying for a long time,
- 10:11Speaker 1: give this guy a bigger role. This is a pretty
- 10:13Speaker 1: big role. I think I sort of love that he
- 10:17Speaker 1: was the bad guy. And did I not call it?
- 10:20Speaker 1: I knew, mister red flag totally that you called it. Yep,
- 10:24Speaker 1: I was wrong about her dad and Leo, but.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Yeah, there's got to be a red herring. Yeah, but
- 10:31Speaker 2: I knew who was the bad guy. It was so obvious.
- 10:34Speaker 1: However, with that said, I love that Matty Pinocchio got
- 10:37Speaker 1: this big role, and I think I'm ready to see
- 10:41Speaker 1: him in something equally as big, but where he's the
- 10:46Speaker 1: good guy or the love interest or the whatever. You know.
- 10:49Speaker 2: I love him.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I think he's awesome.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Yeah, give him a starring role and counted a Christmas
- 10:53Speaker 2: come on totally think speaking of things that were obvious
- 10:58Speaker 2: but that I did not notice. That is the u
- 11:00Speaker 2: of second chances as having double meaning both for the
- 11:03Speaker 2: community that they serve as well as second chances for
- 11:06Speaker 2: these lost souls. Liam gets his second chance to prove himself.
- 11:09Speaker 2: I liked that they did a nice job tight and
- 11:12Speaker 2: tying it in all together. I was as we were
- 11:15Speaker 2: getting to the conclusion of the movie, I was like, oh,
- 11:18Speaker 2: I could see how this book was. The books were
- 11:20Speaker 2: probably very satisfying if they if the story followed because
- 11:24Speaker 2: I didn't read the books, but if the story followed
- 11:26Speaker 2: the books in a similar fashion, I could see how
- 11:29Speaker 2: it all tied together nicely. What else did you like?
- 11:32Speaker 1: I like that sexy spaghetti dinner scene.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Literally my notes that spaghetti dinner exclamation point damn Lucy guest.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Honestly, the whole part where she's like moving the wine
- 11:47Speaker 1: glass further and further and further away from him. I
- 11:51Speaker 1: was like, that's so subtle, but also so like quite interesting.
- 11:56Speaker 1: I wondered, like if that was a Lucy guest, like,
- 11:59Speaker 1: you know, we're at him closer. Yeah, was that direction
- 12:02Speaker 1: from our director. How did that whole like I want
- 12:06Speaker 1: to be a fly in the room When they were
- 12:08Speaker 1: talking that cia, I just thought it was real sexy.
- 12:11Speaker 1: And if you look at all three movies together, there
- 12:16Speaker 1: were a lot of i'm gonna say, like upgraded sexy
- 12:20Speaker 1: scenes compared to like regular Hamewark movies didn't. Don't you
- 12:24Speaker 1: think so yet?
- 12:26Speaker 2: I think it's a it's a special gift to be
- 12:29Speaker 2: able to work within the parameters of what Hallmark wants
- 12:33Speaker 2: on their screens and still send the steamy message. Like
- 12:38Speaker 2: that chair pole, Oh my god, is so hot and
- 12:44Speaker 2: so innocuous, Like everyone's clothes are on. There's really no
- 12:48Speaker 2: physical contact, nothing happened, but the pole of the chair
- 12:52Speaker 2: is just enough. It's like the zipper scene. Like the
- 12:54Speaker 2: zipper is I think maybe a little more obvious, because
- 12:57Speaker 2: like the idea of unzipping something is really sex but
- 13:00Speaker 2: like a chair, there's nothing inherently sexy about a chair,
- 13:04Speaker 2: and yet it was great.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, I absolutely agree.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Especially because the whole time he's telling Cora this story
- 13:14Speaker 2: about his past failures and what's helping what's not helping him,
- 13:17Speaker 2: what's making him keep her at arm's length? Like why
- 13:20Speaker 2: he's afraid to get closer to her, and so then
- 13:23Speaker 2: like the metaphor of pulling the chair good.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and just like even the way that the chair scrapes, yeah,
- 13:31Speaker 1: on the floor.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Yeah, the whole thing really works. It really works. With
- 13:35Speaker 2: one exception, I thought that the suspenseful scenes in this
- 13:37Speaker 2: movie were done pretty well. Liam getting separated from the
- 13:40Speaker 2: group when Aggon interferes. I thought that was genuinely suspenseful.
- 13:46Speaker 2: I wasn't totally sure it was going to happen there.
- 13:47Speaker 2: I thought his dive in front of the bullet was
- 13:49Speaker 2: well done. We'll talk about a saying that I thought
- 13:51Speaker 2: wasn't one hundred percent for me, but I did think
- 13:54Speaker 2: that they really brought the suspense for me.
- 13:57Speaker 1: I will agree that seeing in the tunnel, there was
- 14:02Speaker 1: one part of it that was a little bit hokey,
- 14:04Speaker 1: and I wonder if that is going to be in
- 14:07Speaker 1: your wishes, I'm sure, but yeah, I thought I thought
- 14:10Speaker 1: that was good too, because I was like, where's the
- 14:11Speaker 1: agon leading him? Like what's happening here?
- 14:13Speaker 2: Yeah? Thought, did you at any point wonder if Egon
- 14:16Speaker 2: wasn't Agon, like if it was Bail in disguise like
- 14:18Speaker 2: leading him? Oh?
- 14:20Speaker 1: I did not, but that would have been a fun twist.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Yeah, Like when he disappears for a second, I was like,
- 14:26Speaker 2: oh he being led astray? Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Do you have any more likes?
- 14:32Speaker 2: I have two little ones. Well, okay, Cora. I really
- 14:35Speaker 2: liked that Cora's realization of who Liam was in their
- 14:38Speaker 2: relationship with something she came to on her own and
- 14:40Speaker 2: wasn't something that she needed to have Angels blained to her,
- 14:44Speaker 2: h Okay, I didn't want them sitting there being like, no,
- 14:47Speaker 2: the reason why we feel connected is that I needed
- 14:49Speaker 2: her to get there on her own. I think that's
- 14:52Speaker 2: the only way she understands it. And finally, when Finn
- 14:56Speaker 2: takes off to apprehend Magnus after Susette sees that text
- 15:00Speaker 2: on her phone, she's like, wait, I want to know
- 15:02Speaker 2: what happens at the end of our day and he returns,
- 15:04Speaker 2: oh to kiss her. Yeah. Yeah, it's an A plus scene.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Yeah. You know, you know, I like I like Finn.
- 15:11Speaker 1: I really like Evan Roderick a lot. I know I'm
- 15:14Speaker 1: gonna be like, maybe I'm gonna have to get into
- 15:17Speaker 1: some auroraty Garden.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Oh my, want to watch some Evan Roderick.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, do you have more likes?
- 15:25Speaker 2: I don't. Well, I'm wondering if you'd like to talk
- 15:28Speaker 2: about Finn and your wishes.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Well about his Like the way he moves on so fast.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't hate it, but I wonder if you did.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Really I did. I just I'm like, he moves on
- 15:42Speaker 1: real fast, like real fast, and I feel to me
- 15:45Speaker 1: like it undercuts the emotional weight of Cora choosing Liam
- 15:51Speaker 1: because it makes it feel like nobody really cared that much,
- 15:55Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 15:56Speaker 2: He had Susette lighting in the wings that was no
- 15:58Speaker 2: big deal.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, and and Coor being so worried about Finn
- 16:06Speaker 1: that I appreciated, Like I was like, Okay, she really
- 16:08Speaker 1: cares about him as like a person or as a friend,
- 16:11Speaker 1: like she wants she's worried about his safety. So I
- 16:15Speaker 1: enjoyed like that part of it, Like she wasn't just like, eh,
- 16:18Speaker 1: he's just some dude or whatever. But Finn, on the
- 16:21Speaker 1: other hand, I was like, Finn dude, like no love lost, Like, oh,
- 16:26Speaker 1: Cora chose Liam, so oh bestie looks good.
- 16:29Speaker 2: So especially after the second movie where he looks so
- 16:34Speaker 2: forlorn seeing them kissed. Yes, yes, and we're talking couple
- 16:37Speaker 2: days later, Yes, just days later, exactly.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I was kind yeah bothered.
- 16:43Speaker 2: What do you think about Suzette though being pissed when
- 16:46Speaker 2: Cora goes on that date with Finn.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not really sure, Like I have a
- 16:51Speaker 1: hard time understanding Susette's motivations, Like is she just there?
- 16:58Speaker 1: I mean, was she just doing all those things just
- 17:00Speaker 1: so she could live in the modern world? Like she
- 17:04Speaker 1: didn't kind of like how Cora's like, was our friendship
- 17:07Speaker 1: all bs? Like, Well, that's my question about Suzette, right,
- 17:10Speaker 1: because when we learn that she's working for bail, you
- 17:13Speaker 1: start to question her motivation, but then she seems to
- 17:16Speaker 1: genuinely like she says, yeah, of course she was there
- 17:19Speaker 1: to just do a job, but then she became a
- 17:22Speaker 1: genuine friend of Cora's. I feel like she's not acting
- 17:25Speaker 1: like a genuine friend to Cora when she's frustrated by
- 17:31Speaker 1: Cora's spending time with Finn, Like because Cora has two
- 17:34Speaker 1: guys on the hook, maybe she's upseteah, But yeah, that
- 17:37Speaker 1: doesn't mean that Suzette's entitled to one of them. She's
- 17:40Speaker 1: not in a relationship with either. She hasn't done anything wrong,
- 17:45Speaker 1: and so I didn't love that from Susette. I thought
- 17:48Speaker 1: that was like told us a different story about who
- 17:50Speaker 1: she was in her motivations than we were led to believe.
- 17:52Speaker 1: At the conclusion, as mentioned, there's a scene that doesn't
- 17:56Speaker 1: land for me, and that is when they catch Boyd.
- 18:01Speaker 2: He shuts up the light and runs. That's it. Yeah,
- 18:04Speaker 2: it's not screaming mastermind criminal to me, he.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Like shuts the lights off and takes off, and then
- 18:11Speaker 1: Susaid just flips the switch back on and then.
- 18:13Speaker 2: They run after him. I was like, what this guy's
- 18:18Speaker 2: been running? It was like criminal enterprise and that's his
- 18:21Speaker 2: best move.
- 18:23Speaker 1: I'm so glad it didn't land for you either, because
- 18:26Speaker 1: I was like, what.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it wasn't my wasn't my favorite moment. I'm so sorry, Maddie.
- 18:32Speaker 2: I still love you.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Was it equally as bad as when the guy fumbles
- 18:35Speaker 1: the gun in the movie number one?
- 18:37Speaker 2: They have the same energy, for sure? Yeah, for sure?
- 18:40Speaker 1: For sure?
- 18:41Speaker 2: For sure.
- 18:42Speaker 1: The moment when the angels appear in front of Cora, Yes,
- 18:47Speaker 1: it was a little bit too much for me.
- 18:50Speaker 2: It's it's and you mentioned it.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I think in it was either last week's episode. But
- 18:55Speaker 1: you're like the quantum weep. Yeah, that's all I could
- 18:58Speaker 1: think of when I when I saw it now, I
- 19:00Speaker 1: was like, this is a little bit unbelievable.
- 19:06Speaker 2: I think that's the challenge of a movie where you're
- 19:08Speaker 2: incorporating angels who are not human? How do you how
- 19:14Speaker 2: do you express that right? Because I think the better
- 19:18Speaker 2: way to do it is they just walk on screen
- 19:20Speaker 2: as opposed to materializing.
- 19:22Speaker 1: On Yes, yes, yes.
- 19:25Speaker 2: The only thing is that doesn't then communicate to the
- 19:28Speaker 2: person who doesn't know who they are that they are otherworldly.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Mm hmm. How Cora's I think she even says like,
- 19:37Speaker 2: I know what's going on here, but this is still
- 19:39Speaker 2: hard for me to accept when she sees them. So
- 19:42Speaker 2: I think I think they need in like a little
- 19:45Speaker 2: bit of some sort of other worldliness in order for
- 19:48Speaker 2: her to fully grasp what is going on. But I
- 19:51Speaker 2: don't think there's a way to do it. In the book,
- 19:53Speaker 2: they like materialize out of the mist, and that gives
- 19:56Speaker 2: me hokey vibes too, Like totally in all of it,
- 20:00Speaker 2: it's hard to execute. I don't love it.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Yeah, even with Brendan Penny, Like at the end as Gabriel,
- 20:06Speaker 1: I was like, He's like I'm right here.
- 20:09Speaker 2: I'm like, Okay, I don't know. I don't know.
- 20:14Speaker 1: I have to admit, like, as much as I liked
- 20:17Speaker 1: the end of movie two, like just this movie like
- 20:20Speaker 1: kind of just.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Limped into home base for me, Oh, was that a
- 20:25Speaker 2: same thing? Yeah?
- 20:26Speaker 1: I just was like, this is like too much, Like
- 20:28Speaker 1: all this all this angel stuff was was.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Too much for me.
- 20:35Speaker 1: I also didn't really like that we didn't get any
- 20:37Speaker 1: closure on Bail.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:40Speaker 1: I mean, I'm guessing you know, we didn't get closure
- 20:47Speaker 1: on his efforts, Like I wanted to see him be like,
- 20:50Speaker 1: dagnam it it didn't work or whatever, like you know whatever.
- 20:54Speaker 1: But wait, did it work though? Because he was trying
- 20:59Speaker 1: not to get them to get right?
- 21:01Speaker 2: I guess technically he prevented Cora and Finn from getting together,
- 21:04Speaker 2: but second chances happens.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. I just they didn't. They didn't.
- 21:11Speaker 1: They needed to close that chapter out. We needed to
- 21:14Speaker 1: see something that ended his story or that he moved
- 21:18Speaker 1: on to another mission or well whatever to that point,
- 21:23Speaker 1: do you think this would have been better served as
- 21:25Speaker 1: a series of eight episodes? No, because I thought three
- 21:29Speaker 1: was too long.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Oh that's interesting because I think in a series, they
- 21:34Speaker 2: could have done all of those things like you could
- 21:36Speaker 2: have had we would have dug a little deeper into
- 21:38Speaker 2: Bail and Susette, and maybe there would have been a
- 21:41Speaker 2: little more of a window between Finn's Finn's letdown and
- 21:47Speaker 2: hooking up with Susette.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Rebound is Yeah, I mean, I guess I could see
- 21:55Speaker 1: that like a six episode maybe an eight episode one season.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Wonder sure I could. I could maybe get get onto that.
- 22:03Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Part of me felt like three movies. Six hours was
- 22:07Speaker 1: too long. My biggest complaint Movie number one was that
- 22:11Speaker 1: it was slow. I thought this this installment was also
- 22:15Speaker 1: a little bit slow, but it was so heavy on
- 22:18Speaker 1: the solving the crime part of it that I didn't
- 22:22Speaker 1: really care about. So that's where I land. All Right,
- 22:28Speaker 1: are you readfferent?
- 22:28Speaker 2: Did you see that?
- 22:29Speaker 1: Yes?
- 22:29Speaker 2: I have none, Okay, I have two little, very little.
- 22:35Speaker 2: In movie one, I thought I bumped on something. They
- 22:38Speaker 2: were using they pronouns for Gabriel. Yeah, it's a he.
- 22:42Speaker 2: They straight up use he him pronouns in this movie.
- 22:45Speaker 2: So that was a nothing burger. Finally, they go to
- 22:49Speaker 2: the bar Dante's like Dante's Inferno about you know, the
- 22:53Speaker 2: seven circles of hell. Funny now that's all.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Oh oh, I just had to did to see that.
- 23:02Speaker 1: I just made the connection. The coffee place that they
- 23:06Speaker 1: go to is called the Cat something the cat Cafe
- 23:09Speaker 1: or something like that. And Susette was a cat burglar.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Look at that, Look at me. Put the pieces together.
- 23:18Speaker 2: I love how like the worst people, they can come
- 23:20Speaker 2: up with our burglars. Right. Liam was a bad guy
- 23:23Speaker 2: because he used to steal from people. And Susette, you know,
- 23:26Speaker 2: her soul needed salvation because she was a cat burglar.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Like these, these are the souls that need redemption. Although
- 23:33Speaker 2: I guess when you think about it, we don't really
- 23:35Speaker 2: want to see redemption for like super bad guys. So sure,
- 23:38Speaker 2: I don't want to see like a murderer being like, well,
- 23:40Speaker 2: now you're nice, so I forget you. Yeah, good point.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Well I'm a little worried about your rating.
- 23:48Speaker 1: I mean, it does not change from movie one or two.
- 23:52Speaker 1: It's a four star. I give it five. Are you
- 23:56Speaker 1: for real?
- 23:57Speaker 2: Really?
- 23:57Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 23:57Speaker 2: I liked this series a lot, and I thought the
- 23:59Speaker 2: movie I like it.
- 24:00Speaker 1: I'm glad you did.
- 24:01Speaker 2: I'm glad you did so, I'm are you putting the
- 24:04Speaker 2: boxing gloves on?
- 24:05Speaker 1: In the Girls Gonne Hallmark Facebook group and like really
- 24:07Speaker 1: defending your choice here.
- 24:09Speaker 2: I mean, if it doesn't hit, it doesn't hit. We've
- 24:11Speaker 2: been there too, So I thought it was well executed.
- 24:16Speaker 2: I was into the story. I thought the production value
- 24:18Speaker 2: was super high. I thought Lachlan and Katie and Evan
- 24:23Speaker 2: were fan frea fantastic as we're Maddie and niall like,
- 24:26Speaker 2: I really, I think there's a lot of positives about
- 24:29Speaker 2: that movie. But if the story doesn't hit for you,
- 24:31Speaker 2: the story doesn't hit, it's.
- 24:33Speaker 1: I just mean, like i'd even four stars. You know,
- 24:36Speaker 1: four stars is not a bad rating.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not, and I'm not saying you. A lot
- 24:40Speaker 2: of people like I didn't like this, and I think
- 24:42Speaker 2: it's just so different from what they've come to expect
- 24:46Speaker 2: in a lot of ways. The style of the movie.
- 24:47Speaker 2: People are like, is it a mystery? And then so
- 24:49Speaker 2: they were like, well, I don't like mystery, so I
- 24:51Speaker 2: don't like this, But I feel like, eh, the mystery
- 24:56Speaker 2: was heavy in Movie three, but not throughout. It was
- 24:58Speaker 2: just kind of a third place point to me. And
- 25:01Speaker 2: it's it's just different. And I think the trilogy, which
- 25:05Speaker 2: is not what they're calling it. They call it a
- 25:06Speaker 2: mini series, a three part special event. You know, I
- 25:10Speaker 2: think that's different and people have a hard time wrapping
- 25:12Speaker 2: their heads around that, so we'll talk more about it
- 25:15Speaker 2: and tomorrow's episode. Yep. Yeah, Well, thanks for listening to
