- 0:05Speaker 1: On Monday.
- 0:05Speaker 2: We talked a lot about the issues that this team has,
- 0:08Speaker 2: but we still have to be confident going into Week three.
- 0:10Speaker 2: So what are you most confident in about this team
- 0:12Speaker 2: as they face the Texas?
- 0:14Speaker 3: The quarterback, the offense as well.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Welcome in to jag Dam on this Wednesday and Kai
- 0:36Speaker 2: Nannie Stephens in here with Brian Sexton, John Oser, and
- 0:39Speaker 2: as I mentioned, we're turning the page today. We're going
- 0:42Speaker 2: to talk positive all day on Wednesday. I've decided because
- 0:44Speaker 2: we kind of went in on it a little bit
- 0:46Speaker 2: on Monday and the sky is not falling. Things are
- 0:48Speaker 2: okay because you guys still mention what you're most confident
- 0:51Speaker 2: in is the issue we were most concerned about.
- 0:52Speaker 3: When you said that was your question, I thought, where
- 0:55Speaker 3: do I want to go with this? Do you want
- 0:56Speaker 3: to talk about the linebackers? Don't want to talk about
- 0:58Speaker 3: the secondary, the defense that's played so well, Evan Ingram,
- 1:02Speaker 3: the receivers. There's really a little bit on the interior
- 1:06Speaker 3: of the offensive line, there's some concern, But other than that,
- 1:08Speaker 3: I think this team can turn it around pretty quickly.
- 1:10Speaker 4: Well.
- 1:11Speaker 5: History shows us that these players on offense are good.
- 1:16Speaker 5: Doug Peterson's offense over the course of time and the
- 1:20Speaker 5: Chiefs offense. Frankly, it's very similar. Produces, it works. I
- 1:24Speaker 5: think Trevor Lawrence is a good player. We've seen that
- 1:28Speaker 5: so over seventeen games. They are going to be a
- 1:32Speaker 5: good offense.
- 1:32Speaker 3: At least. Neither one of us, said Logan Cook, even
- 1:35Speaker 3: though he's the best punter in the league. So who
- 1:37Speaker 3: wouldn't have confidence in him? But there was a time
- 1:39Speaker 3: in twenty twenty twenty one where he would have said,
- 1:41Speaker 3: hey man, Logan Cook, best player on the team.
- 1:43Speaker 2: It's dire times when you're going to the punter. Although
- 1:45Speaker 2: we do love you, Logan Cook. No nothing against him.
- 1:47Speaker 2: We love you, and we love the banana ball and
- 1:49Speaker 2: all of that. Let's get into our big things today,
- 1:51Speaker 2: because why not.
- 1:52Speaker 1: We're turning the page. That's our first big.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Thing today because, as I mentioned, what happened in week
- 1:57Speaker 2: two against the Chiefs hopefully is an isolated incident. Yes
- 2:00Speaker 2: you have to watch the tape, Yes you have to
- 2:01Speaker 2: learn from it, but we got to move on.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Mentally.
- 2:03Speaker 2: That team meets to move on too, because, as we discussed,
- 2:05Speaker 2: at certain points, if you don't, you know, turn the
- 2:08Speaker 2: page and move on to the next game you have
- 2:09Speaker 2: ahead of you, then things can spiral, and that's when
- 2:12Speaker 2: we would become really concerned. Brian, do you feel that
- 2:15Speaker 2: the team is in the right place to move forward
- 2:17Speaker 2: this week? And I kind of put this behind them.
- 2:19Speaker 3: I do, And you know, I talked on Monday a
- 2:21Speaker 3: little bit about how I thought last week that Doug
- 2:24Speaker 3: Peterson came into his Wednesday press conference, he wasn't himself.
- 2:27Speaker 3: He was absolutely himself on Monday. There's an old action
- 2:31Speaker 3: in the NFL. Don't let him beat you twice. You know,
- 2:33Speaker 3: it's one thing to get beat, especially by the defending
- 2:36Speaker 3: Super Bowl champs, but don't let the hangover of a
- 2:38Speaker 3: poor performance put you in peril of losing to the
- 2:41Speaker 3: Texans the next week. And it was clear to me
- 2:43Speaker 3: from the moment that Doug started talking on Monday that
- 2:46Speaker 3: he had his focus and thus the team's focus in
- 2:49Speaker 3: the right place.
- 2:51Speaker 5: I think they are. I also think it's not It's
- 2:56Speaker 5: not something that you can assume. And I guess what
- 3:00Speaker 5: I mean is this last year they were two and
- 3:02Speaker 5: six and then sort of had to punch their way
- 3:05Speaker 5: back into the postseason. So at no point have they
- 3:08Speaker 5: really been considered a good team, and then sort of
- 3:14Speaker 5: had a body blow and had an early season.
- 3:17Speaker 4: This is new form.
- 3:18Speaker 5: I guess my point. They're favored in this game. They
- 3:20Speaker 5: believe they ought to win. They're playing a young team
- 3:23Speaker 5: that they quote ought to beat. They have been in
- 3:26Speaker 5: a situation before, and it's a division game, so it's big.
- 3:29Speaker 5: I hate the word trap game, but if anything fit,
- 3:31Speaker 5: you know, not trap, whatever, but they have never really
- 3:35Speaker 5: done this thing where they've sort of proven okay, we're better.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Trap would fit, though. I mean, I think trap would
- 3:41Speaker 3: have fit this week if if they had beaten Sure,
- 3:43Speaker 3: if they had beaten the Chiefs, then you could say
- 3:46Speaker 3: there's a trap. I think if anything else, it's the
- 3:49Speaker 3: reverse of that. This week there is a hyper focus
- 3:53Speaker 3: with the loss of Kansasity. And look, we said this
- 3:56Speaker 3: on Monday. It's one thing to lose to Kansasity. They're
- 3:58Speaker 3: the defending world champions. Patrick Mahomes is the best player
- 4:01Speaker 3: in the league. There's no disgrace in that. The hangover
- 4:04Speaker 3: effect here is that the offense just looks so out
- 4:07Speaker 3: of sync, and we expected the offense to not look
- 4:11Speaker 3: that way, right. We didn't expect them to lose the
- 4:14Speaker 3: weight that they did. But John, I think you wrote
- 4:16Speaker 3: this a couple of times. You know, they had a
- 4:17Speaker 3: shot with five minutes left in the red zone of
- 4:20Speaker 3: the Chiefs and they just didn't get it done. It
- 4:22Speaker 3: wasn't like they weren't even in a position to win
- 4:24Speaker 3: the game, and they played very poorly on offense. So
- 4:26Speaker 3: there's a lot of reasons to believe that they will
- 4:29Speaker 3: be ready to go.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Good teams handle this thing.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Yes, absolutely they do.
- 4:33Speaker 2: It will be very telling. Our next big thing is
- 4:36Speaker 2: South setup. We mentioned it a little bit, but this
- 4:38Speaker 2: is the second divisional game in three weeks that they've had.
- 4:40Speaker 2: So these games, you know, they almost count double, right,
- 4:43Speaker 2: So these are going to set them up to get
- 4:45Speaker 2: where they want to be.
- 4:46Speaker 1: In the postseason.
- 4:46Speaker 2: If you can win your divisional games, the other stuff
- 4:49Speaker 2: will come. And that is part of why we don't
- 4:51Speaker 2: want them overlooking this week, John, I know that sometimes
- 4:55Speaker 2: the Texans, I guess a division opponent, anybody has a
- 4:57Speaker 2: little bit of a buggaboo with them, But things on
- 4:59Speaker 2: paid should play out well again Houston.
- 5:02Speaker 5: Well, as I said Monday, I'm not a big believer
- 5:05Speaker 5: that teams in the past have had the Jaguars number,
- 5:09Speaker 5: because in the past, everybody had the Jaguars numbers the players,
- 5:13Speaker 5: they haven't been as good as teams. This is so
- 5:16Speaker 5: that sort of thing I don't think really applies to
- 5:18Speaker 5: this bunch. I think this goes back to what the
- 5:20Speaker 5: theme of the week is. It's a game that everybody
- 5:23Speaker 5: would say, and even players they are, they ought to win.
- 5:27Speaker 4: You ought to handle business.
- 5:29Speaker 5: It ought to There's no easy games in the NFL,
- 5:32Speaker 5: but you ought to know it.
- 5:33Speaker 4: By five minutes left, that is the better team. You think.
- 5:37Speaker 4: That's what they are, It's what they're supposed to be.
- 5:39Speaker 4: They got to do it.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Now. Here's the hang up. This was a game the
- 5:42Speaker 3: Jaguars were supposed to win last year in Week five
- 5:45Speaker 3: and Davis Mills as their starting quarterback. By all accounts,
- 5:49Speaker 3: they were not as talented, but they're not as talented
- 5:51Speaker 3: now they weren't then, and the Jaguars couldn't score a
- 5:54Speaker 3: touchdown and lost thirteen to six. The quarterback had a
- 5:57Speaker 3: terrible day. He made an awful throw into the end zone,
- 6:01Speaker 3: one that probably got him focused on playing better football. So, yes,
- 6:09Speaker 3: the Jaguer should win this game. They should have won
- 6:11Speaker 3: this game last year. This john is a very big
- 6:13Speaker 3: test in the sense that this is that game, win
- 6:17Speaker 3: the games. If you're a good team, you win the
- 6:18Speaker 3: games you're supposed to. And this might be the first
- 6:21Speaker 3: time we've seen that.
- 6:22Speaker 5: I think they're a different team than they were this
- 6:23Speaker 5: time last year. They got to show expectations.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Our final big thing is going to be anger management,
- 6:28Speaker 2: part of turning the pages, using that frustration that we
- 6:31Speaker 2: saw a lot of in the locker room and postgame
- 6:33Speaker 2: with Doug Peterson as well, turning that frustration into production
- 6:37Speaker 2: and turning that into something because you can't just be
- 6:39Speaker 2: mad about it.
- 6:40Speaker 1: You have to fix it, right.
- 6:41Speaker 2: So, Brian, we talked a lot about how they're able
- 6:43Speaker 2: to do that with Doug Peterson at the Helm, because
- 6:45Speaker 2: I think he's that kind of coach that can use
- 6:47Speaker 2: that to motivate his team.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Look at and I don't want to intimate that they're
- 6:51Speaker 3: not working hard and they're not working long hours, but
- 6:55Speaker 3: you know that excellence is generally achieved by doing a
- 6:59Speaker 3: little bit more than others think is wise, right, by
- 7:02Speaker 3: caring a little bit more than other people believe is necessary.
- 7:06Speaker 3: It's that little bit more. Twenty more minutes on the
- 7:09Speaker 3: iPad instead of twenty minutes on Instagram, right, probably makes
- 7:12Speaker 3: a difference this week in somebody's game. It's not about
- 7:16Speaker 3: playing angry. It's about using the frustration to be smarter,
- 7:21Speaker 3: to do a little bit extra, something a little bit
- 7:24Speaker 3: different in your preparation that gives you back that focus
- 7:27Speaker 3: and gives you the edge just a little bit. Right.
- 7:31Speaker 3: There's a great motivational speaker, Anthony Robbins, and he talks
- 7:33Speaker 3: about two millimeters. It's just two millimeters on a turn
- 7:36Speaker 3: of the wrench makes an amazing amount of difference for them.
- 7:39Speaker 3: This week, it's about finding the two millimeters and getting
- 7:42Speaker 3: sharpened again.
- 7:44Speaker 4: I'm gonna kind of go the other way. I think
- 7:46Speaker 4: it is necessary to channel it.
- 7:48Speaker 5: I think Doug's challenge this week a little bit is
- 7:52Speaker 5: they If there was a theme out of the Chiefs game,
- 7:55Speaker 5: it's that he thought they were maybe trying a little
- 7:58Speaker 5: too hard at the big moments to make a play
- 8:01Speaker 5: to be the guy. I think offensively, at least, it
- 8:05Speaker 5: very much sounded to me on Monday like his emphasis
- 8:07Speaker 5: this week is going to.
- 8:08Speaker 4: Be, Look, we've got the players to do this.
- 8:12Speaker 5: Everybody doesn't have to score an eighty or a touchdown
- 8:14Speaker 5: on every play, Trevor, you don't necessarily have to score
- 8:19Speaker 5: that touchdown in the red zone. You can hand it
- 8:21Speaker 5: to Travis four times. At no point did you get
- 8:25Speaker 5: a vibe from Doug on Monday that they didn't care.
- 8:29Speaker 4: It was more, look, we're good. Just let the game
- 8:32Speaker 4: come to you.
- 8:33Speaker 3: And what you just said could be the two millimeters right,
- 8:36Speaker 3: figuring out to hand the ball off four times, whatever
- 8:40Speaker 3: that might be.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Yes, just small things, little things, execution as we said.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Right, and or calming down right yep, knowing that you're
- 8:47Speaker 3: good as opposed to we got to go beat the
- 8:49Speaker 3: Chiefs so that everybody knows that we're good.
- 8:52Speaker 2: No overreacting this week when they take on the Texans.
- 8:54Speaker 2: All right, we're here on jag Zam presented by Jet
- 8:56Speaker 2: Home Loans. Stay with us, coming back, We're going to
- 8:58Speaker 2: talk about the AFC South and what's going on around
- 9:00Speaker 2: the division. For ten years, Dreambinder's Homes has been proud
- 9:10Speaker 2: to call themselves the official homebuilder jas Wars. Visit Dreamfindershomes
- 9:15Speaker 2: dot com for all of the available inventory and go jags.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Welcome back into jags Am here in the Hyundai Studios
- 9:22Speaker 2: presented by Jet Home Loans today and we're going to
- 9:24Speaker 2: go around the AFC South because we want to keep
- 9:26Speaker 2: you guys up to day and on what's going on
- 9:28Speaker 2: in the division so that you can kind of see
- 9:30Speaker 2: where the Jags stand with things. So there's three teams
- 9:32Speaker 2: that are one in one in the division right now,
- 9:34Speaker 2: and there's one team that's ozho and two and that
- 9:36Speaker 2: would be Houston, the team coming to town. So, Brian,
- 9:39Speaker 2: when you look at the Texans, we're going to get
- 9:40Speaker 2: a little bit more into the specific game plan later
- 9:43Speaker 2: in the week, but they're owing to They've got a
- 9:45Speaker 2: rookie quarterback.
- 9:46Speaker 1: What's been going on with them?
- 9:47Speaker 3: Well, look, they've fallen behind by double digits in both
- 9:50Speaker 3: of their first two games, to Baltimore last week to Indianapolis.
- 9:54Speaker 3: They don't have the vertical playmakers that we've all come
- 9:56Speaker 3: to know in Houston, and when they fallen behind, they've
- 10:00Speaker 3: had to abandon the run and it's left CJ. Stroud
- 10:02Speaker 3: to throw the ball. John. He threw the ball forty
- 10:04Speaker 3: four times in the lost to Baltimore. Look thrown forty
- 10:08Speaker 3: times for rookie is a formula for loss, and then
- 10:11Speaker 3: forty seven last week. He's completing about sixty six percent
- 10:15Speaker 3: of his passes and he has no interceptions. So he's
- 10:18Speaker 3: doing some good things. It's just he's found himself in
- 10:21Speaker 3: a position where he's had to do it all himself,
- 10:23Speaker 3: and that's tough to do in this league.
- 10:25Speaker 5: Yeah, all indications are that he's the real deal. They
- 10:29Speaker 5: think they found their guy. The issue, the main issue
- 10:33Speaker 5: there is they feel like they're probably a year away
- 10:36Speaker 5: in terms of draft, in terms of free agency, from
- 10:39Speaker 5: sort of getting back on the plane where they have
- 10:41Speaker 5: a chance to compete. The second issue is of their
- 10:45Speaker 5: offensive line. They have one starter healthy right now that
- 10:48Speaker 5: they've got projected, and it's sometimes you see that and
- 10:52Speaker 5: they're playing okay with this bunch. They're giving up a
- 10:55Speaker 5: lot of his on the quarterback and a lot of sacks.
- 10:57Speaker 5: There was a fumble, a very key fumble last week
- 10:59Speaker 5: for stra This is the time where the Jaguars need
- 11:03Speaker 5: to take advantage of this and feel like the stronger team.
- 11:06Speaker 3: He's been sacked eleven times, the most in the league,
- 11:08Speaker 3: and he stumbled three times and lost two of those.
- 11:11Speaker 3: So they have extra draft picks and cap room from
- 11:14Speaker 3: the Deshaun Watson trade in the next year. It won't
- 11:17Speaker 3: take long. He looks like he might be the real deal, too.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Time to start building around him.
- 11:21Speaker 2: We'll get into a little bit of the rookie quarterbacks
- 11:22Speaker 2: in the division later on in the show. We're going
- 11:25Speaker 2: to go to the Colts now, who got a win
- 11:27Speaker 2: against the Texans last week, and they did it without
- 11:29Speaker 2: Anthony Richardson for much of that game because he left
- 11:31Speaker 2: with a concussion. Went to the concussion protocol and Gardner Minshew,
- 11:35Speaker 2: our old friend was in the game, and they were
- 11:37Speaker 2: able to tick down the Texans and get a win.
- 11:39Speaker 1: So they're at one in one as well.
- 11:41Speaker 4: John.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Is Anthony Richardson going to deal with some of those
- 11:43Speaker 2: issues being a running quarterback? Is this going to be
- 11:46Speaker 2: part of the problem or can he adapt to the
- 11:47Speaker 2: NFL style and protect himself a little bit more?
- 11:49Speaker 4: Well?
- 11:50Speaker 5: Yeah, Trevor after the game in the opener said, hey,
- 11:54Speaker 5: protect yourself.
- 11:55Speaker 4: I'm summarizing.
- 11:56Speaker 3: I wasn't there, but.
- 11:59Speaker 4: This is a league of big, strong, fast, defensive players. Uh. Historically,
- 12:05Speaker 4: when quarterbacks.
- 12:08Speaker 5: Puts themselves in position to get hit a lot, it
- 12:12Speaker 5: over time shortens their career. This is a little bit different.
- 12:15Speaker 5: He's gotten hurt twice in two games. Yeah, probably a
- 12:19Speaker 5: little bit of flukey in that. You can't say, okay, well,
- 12:20Speaker 5: that's gonna happen all the time. Guys have played this
- 12:23Speaker 5: way and played ten or eleven years. But it's one
- 12:27Speaker 5: reason the league over time, you know, typically likes guys
- 12:32Speaker 5: who stand in the pocket.
- 12:33Speaker 4: Even in this day of of of of.
- 12:35Speaker 5: Running quarterbacks, teams would still prefer a guy who can
- 12:39Speaker 5: protect himself because of the longevity of the position. It's
- 12:41Speaker 5: changing a little bit, but deep down in the gut
- 12:44Speaker 5: of this league, you you always get worried when your quarterback.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Takes a lot of hits. Uh.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Mitschew came in, as you mentioned, it was eleven to fourteen.
- 12:52Speaker 3: I mean, typical Minshew. He's not gonna throw the ball
- 12:53Speaker 3: down the field, but he completed it enough passes and
- 12:56Speaker 3: took advantage of the league that they have. Uh. Teams
- 12:59Speaker 3: know how to prepare for Gardner. Minshew very different than
- 13:02Speaker 3: Anthony Richardson. So if the Colts, who are built around
- 13:05Speaker 3: Richardson have to rely on Minshew, they're going to struggle.
- 13:08Speaker 3: They just don't. They just aren't built to be that
- 13:12Speaker 3: team right now. Although Shane Steichen said he was very
- 13:14Speaker 3: impressed with Minshew, and it's hard to argue. I mean,
- 13:16Speaker 3: Minch's a guy who comes in and he gets the
- 13:18Speaker 3: job done. In situations where it looks bleak, you lose
- 13:23Speaker 3: your starting quarterback.
- 13:24Speaker 5: There was a feeling up there that if Minshew had
- 13:26Speaker 5: played all season and started, they're probably a seven win
- 13:29Speaker 5: team and probably a five win team with Richardson, you
- 13:32Speaker 5: you know, he's a little more.
- 13:33Speaker 4: Ready to be okay.
- 13:34Speaker 5: Now, it's just that Richardson they think has the ability
- 13:37Speaker 5: to be great long term.
- 13:39Speaker 4: So why Dylan Gardner has that great long.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Term and he needs the reps for sure.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Hopefully gets back on the field quickly, and then we're
- 13:45Speaker 2: going to head over to the Titans now because they
- 13:48Speaker 2: are one in one as well. They came back against
- 13:49Speaker 2: the Chargers to get their first win of the season.
- 13:52Speaker 2: As they went into that game oh to one, Tannehill
- 13:54Speaker 2: bounced back. Obviously, they kept him in town because they
- 13:56Speaker 2: want to kind of keep this all going. Ryan, we
- 13:58Speaker 2: talked about this, but Henry not exactly that. Derrick Henry
- 14:01Speaker 2: were just same.
- 14:02Speaker 3: No, they've got to have Tannehill. It appears tanner Hill
- 14:05Speaker 3: led the league last week in yards per attempt. He
- 14:08Speaker 3: was over ten point three yards per attempt and led
- 14:11Speaker 3: them down. If you have played very well a week
- 14:13Speaker 3: after throwing three interceptions in their loss to the Saints.
- 14:16Speaker 3: The problem for the Titans is going to be do
- 14:18Speaker 3: they have the guns the receivers to be able to
- 14:20Speaker 3: get down the field like that. Derrick Henry is second
- 14:24Speaker 3: in the league in rushing attempts, but he is thirty
- 14:28Speaker 3: fifth in the league in yards per attempt. So you
- 14:31Speaker 3: can see that maybe all the years of all the
- 14:34Speaker 3: carries are starting to wear on him. You know, in
- 14:37Speaker 3: his career, he's never averaged below four point two yards
- 14:40Speaker 3: per carry, so three point five is pretty low for him.
- 14:43Speaker 3: If the Titans are going to compete, they're going to
- 14:45Speaker 3: need their quarterback. They can get some days from Derrick Henry,
- 14:47Speaker 3: but if they don't have Tannehill, it appears that they're
- 14:50Speaker 3: going to struggle.
- 14:51Speaker 5: Yeah. I always say count these guys at John Peril.
- 14:55Speaker 5: I mean, everybody sort of said at the beginning of
- 14:58Speaker 5: the season the Jaguars, we're gonna run away with this division.
- 15:02Speaker 4: I really bought into that.
- 15:05Speaker 5: I get that maybe Derrick Henry isn't Dereck Henry superman.
- 15:10Speaker 5: They beat the Chargers last week, and I think the
- 15:13Speaker 5: Chargers are good. They figure out a way to win.
- 15:16Speaker 5: The Jaguars are gonna need to get a double digit
- 15:18Speaker 5: number to be away from this tame this year.
- 15:20Speaker 3: The key for them is their quarterback playing well. And
- 15:25Speaker 3: if he does, it'll it'll give Derick Henry a chance
- 15:28Speaker 3: to have some room to run.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Seems like a coin flip though, whether we're gonna see
- 15:31Speaker 2: good Tannehill or bad Tannahill.
- 15:33Speaker 3: The says, so we'll have thirty five years old.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll have to see all right, Stay with us

- 16:17Speaker 3: You have Chase on credit, kept on working, working, working,
- 16:20Speaker 3: Randall hump around Donovan Smith, but give the credit. You
- 16:25Speaker 3: like a different.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Different this this exam, we're gonna do this or that today,
- 16:38Speaker 2: presented by Price dot Com. John, I know you love
- 16:40Speaker 2: the word trap game, but how's that involved in you
- 16:42Speaker 2: this or that today?
- 16:43Speaker 4: Well? Is this a trap game?
- 16:45Speaker 5: Which or I think it's the other word I hate
- 16:49Speaker 5: with a statement game is you know, I don't like
- 16:52Speaker 5: either one, but I do believe if you can call
- 16:55Speaker 5: anything a division statement, Brian, I think this might be
- 16:58Speaker 5: a week to do that. To me, this is a
- 17:00Speaker 5: game good teams win if you're going to control your division.
- 17:04Speaker 5: This is the kind of game you get early. You're
- 17:06Speaker 5: playing at home. He's a team you ought to beat.
- 17:09Speaker 5: It just ought to be one of those twenty eight thirteen.
- 17:13Speaker 5: You're not worried about it in the in the last
- 17:16Speaker 5: five minutes of the game. If it doesn't go that way,
- 17:18Speaker 5: it's not a reason to panic. But that's what you'd
- 17:20Speaker 5: like to see out of this team that you believe
- 17:22Speaker 5: is going to be, that you believe is on the upswing,
- 17:26Speaker 5: that you believe is going to be one of those
- 17:27Speaker 5: teams moving forward, those kind of teams do that this week.
- 17:30Speaker 3: I know you don't like the idea. Also, I don't
- 17:33Speaker 3: like very much. No I know of a team having
- 17:35Speaker 3: the other team's number, but the Texans have. I mean,
- 17:37Speaker 3: in two thousand and two they came in as an
- 17:39Speaker 3: expansion team and Jermaine Lewis returned to punt for a
- 17:42Speaker 3: touchdown and the expansion Texans beat the Jaguars in their
- 17:47Speaker 3: first ever meeting. And then, of course, last year, there
- 17:49Speaker 3: was no reason why the Jaguars should lose to Davis
- 17:53Speaker 3: Mills and that bunch of guys, but they did. So
- 17:56Speaker 3: there have been moments where it's happened. So I'm gonna
- 17:58Speaker 3: say that this is a Yeah, I don't like trap
- 18:02Speaker 3: game out there's a division statement, and it better be mean.
- 18:04Speaker 3: I'm the guy who said I think the Jags sweep
- 18:05Speaker 3: the division in my hot take before the season. Right,
- 18:07Speaker 3: you don't need to kill them. You don't need to
- 18:09Speaker 3: win by thirty seven points to you know, to establish it.
- 18:13Speaker 3: But come out win the ball game. Don't make it close,
- 18:18Speaker 3: you know, don't be in the fourth quarter wondering, hey,
- 18:20Speaker 3: we're gonna get this one or not.
- 18:22Speaker 1: I think it was later in the year.
- 18:23Speaker 2: I might go a trap game because I think sometimes
- 18:25Speaker 2: these division opponents can sneak up on you a little
- 18:27Speaker 2: bit when it's a game you're supposed to win. But
- 18:29Speaker 2: I think because we're only in the third week, I'll
- 18:31Speaker 2: go a statement win and I think hopefully they can
- 18:33Speaker 2: show their best version of their offense, so that we
- 18:36Speaker 2: have high hopes heading into London.
- 18:37Speaker 3: If it's a trap game after a loss, you got
- 18:40Speaker 3: a good.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Team, let's hope. So I think they're good, Brian, what's
- 18:44Speaker 1: here and this or that for this week?
- 18:45Speaker 3: Well, which quarterback would you rather have? The Jaguars will
- 18:47Speaker 3: see the two rookies in the division in the first
- 18:49Speaker 3: three weeks, and we saw Anthony Richardson and John You
- 18:52Speaker 3: alluded to him. His traits, his physical characteristics give him
- 18:56Speaker 3: the chance to be great. And we saw a very
- 18:58Speaker 3: limited game planner opening day. The executed it pretty well
- 19:01Speaker 3: and he's higg and fast and guys have to account
- 19:04Speaker 3: for him when he starts to get outside the pocket.
- 19:07Speaker 3: And then you've got CJ. Stroud, who is by all
- 19:09Speaker 3: accounts of pocket passer. You know, scrambled three times last
- 19:12Speaker 3: week for a grand total of one yard. It's not
- 19:14Speaker 3: what he wants to do. He's a guy who can
- 19:16Speaker 3: stand back there. He's sixty six percent accurate in terms
- 19:19Speaker 3: of his completion percentage and seems very comfortable there. So
- 19:24Speaker 3: which of these two quarterbacks do you think has a
- 19:26Speaker 3: better chance long term to be that guy that gets
- 19:29Speaker 3: his team into the playoffs.
- 19:31Speaker 4: Of Stroud without Quick.
- 19:32Speaker 5: I mean, but I'm a pocket passer guy, so I
- 19:36Speaker 5: think Straud is out of question because I think he'll
- 19:39Speaker 5: be healthy for the long term and he's already sixty
- 19:42Speaker 5: six percent under the dress he's been in all indications
- 19:46Speaker 5: or he's he's on his way to being that, And
- 19:52Speaker 5: I think with Richardson has a lot of questions.
- 19:54Speaker 2: And that's just a gamble, right, Like Anthony Richardson, we
- 19:56Speaker 2: don't know, we haven't seen a ton of him, and
- 19:58Speaker 2: now he's been hurt in these two games so far
- 20:00Speaker 2: in the NFL season. So I would like to be
- 20:03Speaker 2: a gambling woman and pick Richardson, but I think I'm
- 20:04Speaker 2: gonna Well.
- 20:05Speaker 3: The one thing it's worthy of pointing out is that
- 20:06Speaker 3: Richardson isn't an offense like Jalen Hurts. If you saw
- 20:09Speaker 3: the Vikings Eagles game last Thursday night, when they couldn't
- 20:12Speaker 3: get the passing game going, AJ Brown was out of sync.
- 20:15Speaker 3: They just started handing the ball off and DeAndre Swift
- 20:18Speaker 3: had a big day, and when the Vikings collapsed on Swift,
- 20:21Speaker 3: well here comes Jalen Hurts. I mean, I do think
- 20:24Speaker 3: that the Colts have an opportunity to have something. I
- 20:27Speaker 3: don't know how long it will last if you can't
- 20:28Speaker 3: stay healthy, But I like Richardson. I'm intrigued by him.
- 20:33Speaker 2: It would be so cool to see them if they
- 20:35Speaker 2: had a running game going right now with the Colts going, we.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Might we might see that in October, because yeah, that's
- 20:40Speaker 3: when the running back Jonathan Taylor is back. He'll be
- 20:43Speaker 3: back in action. You would think somewhere.
- 20:46Speaker 1: It'll be playing somewhere.
- 20:48Speaker 3: When we see them, Yes, September fifteenth.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Yes, okay, let's hope, so all right for my list
- 20:52Speaker 2: or that this week? We want to see the offense
- 20:55Speaker 2: bounce back. But who would you like to see a
- 20:57Speaker 2: bigger day from on Sundays? At the running backs or
- 20:59Speaker 2: the wide receivers. Now we're kind of getting on both
- 21:02Speaker 2: sides of the issue the other day. But Brian, when
- 21:05Speaker 2: you look at that, which one do you want to see?
- 21:06Speaker 3: Running backs? I want to see the running game get started.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Fred Taylor, of course, he's always going to want to
- 21:12Speaker 3: see the running game. But he and I had a
- 21:13Speaker 3: long conversation about this on Sunday afternoon, and he said,
- 21:17Speaker 3: why have they given up the run? With an offensive
- 21:19Speaker 3: line that is struggling to keep Trevor clean, and they
- 21:23Speaker 3: were on Sunday, and to a large degree, they were
- 21:25Speaker 3: on Opening Day in Indianapolis. The running game slows all
- 21:28Speaker 3: that down, It calms everything down, and it gives Trevor
- 21:31Speaker 3: more time in the pocket to get the receiver started.
- 21:33Speaker 3: So from my perspective, I know this is a team
- 21:36Speaker 3: that's going to use the pass to set up the run.
- 21:38Speaker 3: I know that's where it's headed. But on Sunday, I'd
- 21:41Speaker 3: like to see them use the run to set up
- 21:42Speaker 3: the pass until everything settles down.
- 21:45Speaker 5: Yeah, Fred's gonna have a long wait because this is
- 21:48Speaker 5: and it's not that Doug doesn't like the run. It
- 21:51Speaker 5: says that this team does not believe, with this style
- 21:55Speaker 5: of offense that you turn around and just hand the
- 21:58Speaker 5: ball off if the numbers aren't there. So a lot
- 22:01Speaker 5: of the passes that they use, you know, Brian, a
- 22:03Speaker 5: lot of the passes they use, they don't believe that
- 22:05Speaker 5: running into a stacked box is it.
- 22:09Speaker 4: Is the way to win. So anyway I digress, I.
- 22:13Speaker 5: Guess I'll go the other way and say I'd like
- 22:14Speaker 5: to see a big game from the receivers because I
- 22:17Speaker 5: feel like with this team, if you get some receivers
- 22:22Speaker 5: going and feel like that's clicking. I think they feel
- 22:26Speaker 5: like that's their identity and they feel better about themselves.
- 22:29Speaker 5: So I'd love to see the run too, But I'll
- 22:32Speaker 5: use that argument not thinking that there's a huge difference
- 22:36Speaker 5: between which I like to see.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Well, just one more benefit though to the run, and
- 22:39Speaker 3: that is if this offensive line they haven't played well,
- 22:43Speaker 3: they've heard that they haven't played well. I don't care
- 22:46Speaker 3: whether you're a pass blocking line or run blocking line.
- 22:48Speaker 3: There's gotta be a toughness and a nastiness to you.
- 22:51Speaker 3: And I think they're on I think they're back on
- 22:53Speaker 3: their heels a little bit, especially the interior three. I
- 22:56Speaker 3: think by running the bowl, who's a Bear Bryant. It
- 22:59Speaker 3: always talked about thevantages of run blocking in practice. I
- 23:04Speaker 3: just I'd like to see them run the ball, just
- 23:05Speaker 3: to get that offensive line in gear. But I do
- 23:08Speaker 3: understand that the way that Doug and Press are going
- 23:11Speaker 3: to build this offense, it's going to be based on
- 23:13Speaker 3: the past. But this week, I think maybe the run and.
- 23:16Speaker 1: I think we might see a little bit of both.
- 23:17Speaker 2: To be fair with you, just enough run to get
- 23:19Speaker 2: the wide receivers open and get them going and that
- 23:22Speaker 2: high flying offense that we hope and expect them to be.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Say with us coming up, we'll preview the rest of
- 23:27Speaker 2: the week, and they have a sneak peek.
- 23:28Speaker 1: It sounds of the game. Jags fans.

- 24:40Speaker 3: And wait to watch it.
- 24:43Speaker 2: I know we know the outcome, but these are so
- 24:45Speaker 2: well put together you got to check them out if
- 24:46Speaker 2: you can.
- 24:46Speaker 3: So sure, yeah, for sure, that's a great seas.
- 24:49Speaker 2: What are you guys working on this week? Anything fun?
- 24:51Speaker 2: Just trying to get back on track.
- 24:52Speaker 5: I should have a foyer on the ozone podcast on
- 24:56Speaker 5: Thursday to post on Friday, so look forward to that.
- 24:58Speaker 3: I'm going to spend some time with you offensive a
- 25:00Speaker 3: defensive lineman this week and Breston Buckner for a pregame
- 25:04Speaker 3: radio interview and talk of by establishing the line of scrimmage,
- 25:07Speaker 3: the defense has done a very good job. The offensive
- 25:09Speaker 3: line obviously has some ground to make up, but I
- 25:12Speaker 3: think That's a big story for this team going forward,
- 25:13Speaker 3: not just this week. Next week you see b Jon
- 25:16Speaker 3: Robinson in Atlanta, in London, and I mean, you've got
- 25:19Speaker 3: to be the lines are where it is all built
- 25:22Speaker 3: and just kind of get caught up a couple of
- 25:24Speaker 3: weeks into the season.
- 25:24Speaker 1: I love coach Buckner.
- 25:25Speaker 2: If you can't get you hyped up for a game,
- 25:27Speaker 2: then you're just never going to be able to get
