- 0:31Podcast, and we are recording live at the

- 0:36I am thrilled today to be joined by
- 0:37Paul Hilts, president and CEO of NCH Naples.
- 0:41Paul, thank you so much for being with
- 0:42me today. Good morning. Thank you for having
- 0:44me. Alright. Before we kick things off, can
- 0:46you go ahead and introduce yourself and tell
- 0:48us a little bit about your background and
- 0:50organization?
- 0:51Sure. I'm the CEO of NCH in Naples,
- 0:53and I've been there for five years. NCH
- 0:55is a health system based in Naples, Florida.
- 0:58It's an independent nonprofit. We're about a billion
- 1:01dollars in net revenue, and we're one of
- 1:04the top 50 health systems in America. Well,
- 1:06that's amazing. Now to start our conversation off
- 1:09today, I'd like to talk about the imperative
- 1:11to reduce costs, improve quality, and advance health
- 1:14equity.
- 1:14So how do you approach aligning these priorities
- 1:17in your organization's strategic vision?
- 1:19Well, we we approach cost and quality by
- 1:22working on our culture, and our culture is
- 1:24one of a metrics driven culture where we
- 1:27really benchmark NCH against some of the leading
- 1:29health systems in America, and our team is
- 1:31really focused on providing great value for the
- 1:34patients and for the payers.
- 1:37That's awesome. Now looking ahead, what do you
- 1:39see as the biggest opportunity for payers to
- 1:42lead the charge in transforming care delivery and
- 1:44driving better outcomes for all stakeholders?
- 1:46I'm convinced that the future will be one
- 1:48where patients and payers are really going to
- 1:51be driven by quality. And for us, that
- 1:54means attracting the best and the brightest physicians
- 1:57and other clinicians
- 1:59that come to Naples to become a part
- 2:01of a system where
- 2:03patients and providers
- 2:05alike feel happy to be in the system
- 2:07and where doctors feel that they can do
- 2:09their best work to take care of patients.
- 2:11Well, I'd like to hear a little bit
- 2:13more about your organization. So is there anything
- 2:15else that you'd like to cover that we
- 2:16haven't already discussed? Well, there's two important things
- 2:19we're working on right now. One is we're
- 2:21opening up an orthopedic hospital this week in
- 2:24conjunction with the Hospital for Special Surgery, the
- 2:27number one orthopedic hospital in America. And we've
- 2:30recently broken ground on the Rooney Heart Institute
- 2:33in Naples, which we believe will be one
- 2:35of the top cardiac,
- 2:37vascular, and stroke centers in The United States.
- 2:40Well, that's amazing to hear. Thank you so
- 2:43much for joining me today on the Becker's
- 2:45Payer Podcast.
- 2:46Again, we're recording live at the Becker's third
- 2:48annual spring payer issues roundtable. Paul, thank you
- 2:51so much for joining me. Thank you so
- 2:52much.
