- 0:23Speaker 2: shows at Madison Square Garden.
- 0:25Speaker 3: That's right, three shows at MSG sold out. It was
- 0:29Speaker 3: a great but they still.
- 0:31Speaker 1: They took it from me. It was amazing. What you
- 0:33Speaker 1: have no soundboard? That's apparently they cut me off.
- 0:36Speaker 2: We're about to see how little personality Joe actually has.
- 0:40Speaker 4: This is going to be an extremely unfunny episode.
- 0:43Speaker 2: How'd you feel the weekend went? I felt it was great?
- 0:45Speaker 2: What else happened this weekend?
- 0:47Speaker 1: We played listen, when's that for the first time? That's right?
- 0:50Speaker 1: We have the.

- 0:53Speaker 2: place on radio, on your iPods, your CD walkman's oh those.
- 1:00Speaker 3: You know we talk about burning a CD in the
- 1:01Speaker 3: song please don't burn the City of our song.
- 1:04Speaker 1: That was just it's just a reminder of what was illegal.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I like that.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Speaking of uh burning CDs, we did quite a bit
- 1:11Speaker 2: of that with our guests.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Today, we have.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Our first ever repeat guests, Double Down. They are some
- 1:18Speaker 2: of our closest friends. They are full of memories of
- 1:23Speaker 2: their time when they were the Og Band. Uh once
- 1:26Speaker 2: once was We'll always be, will always be. But we
- 1:29Speaker 2: felt like the first episode with them was a bit soft. Yeah,
- 1:33Speaker 2: it was like a first date.
- 1:34Speaker 1: It felt kind of weird.
- 1:34Speaker 3: We all left there being like, yo, I like you,
- 1:36Speaker 3: but I feel like you didn't get like Yeah, I
- 1:39Speaker 3: felt like I don't know. I don't know if I'm
- 1:40Speaker 3: ready for a second date. So this is we're giving
- 1:41Speaker 3: him another shot. But they apparently have come.
- 1:43Speaker 2: They've come ready with lots of stories, never before heard story.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Yeah, even John Taylor took a helicopter in Hey. This
- 1:49Speaker 3: episode brought to you by helicopters. Ladies and gentlemen, please
- 1:51Speaker 3: welcome back to the Couch to the Hey Jonas Couch,
- 1:54Speaker 3: the Og Band.
- 1:55Speaker 1: John, Greg Jack. Great to have you back in the pot.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I'd hit a clapping sound board, but I don't have it,
- 2:01Speaker 2: so we're going to put it in the edit. Every
- 2:02Speaker 2: time I do this, I am giving the producer's freedom
- 2:05Speaker 2: to come up with any sound.
- 2:09Speaker 5: So I like that one.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Oh no, I just imagine.
- 2:12Speaker 2: What do you think it was that Joe became unfunny?
- 2:15Speaker 2: When did he lose his what year?
- 2:17Speaker 5: I think you're just born with it.
- 2:18Speaker 1: From a fee to a fee. I would say that
- 2:21Speaker 1: media and the comedians you guys watching at home.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Well, yeah, Greg has been funny for quite a while. Yeah,
- 2:26Speaker 2: Jack Jack guy in the band guys fluctuate.
- 2:30Speaker 3: We're talking about your first visit on the Hey Jones
- 2:32Speaker 3: pod and how we felt like the first episode was
- 2:35Speaker 3: like a first day with you guys. It kind of
- 2:36Speaker 3: was like, huh, not good enough for a second. I'll
- 2:38Speaker 3: tell you that much, so we're giving you another shot.
- 2:41Speaker 3: That makes a lot of sense. That's great.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Thanks. I thought it was. I think it was great.
- 2:45Speaker 2: It was a good I'm just trying to keep him
- 2:48Speaker 2: on the hot seat. It was a good first try.
- 2:49Speaker 2: It was a good first try. We all left going
- 2:51Speaker 2: we could do better. Like John, you told like three
- 2:53Speaker 2: or four stories as we were walking away from the
- 2:56Speaker 2: podcast going to sound check that day.
- 2:57Speaker 1: That or gold that you didn't share. Yeah, we got
- 3:01Speaker 1: a vault.
- 3:01Speaker 5: What do we remember?
- 3:03Speaker 2: He apparently doesn't remember anything. He's been saying that a
- 3:05Speaker 2: lot recently covering his tracks in case I know a.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Good I remember it all. Greg remembers every day.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I remember saying that just for the viewer or listener
- 3:15Speaker 3: agent height, please.
- 3:16Speaker 1: My age, I'm forty four years old and I'm six
- 3:19Speaker 1: foot eight. That's one of those things. It's true.
- 3:22Speaker 6: I'm thirty nine years old. I had to think about that.
- 3:25Speaker 6: My birthday's coming up, so please send me something, and don't.
- 3:29Speaker 1: You tell me address.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Where are we going to celebrate your birthday? Send them
- 3:33Speaker 2: a tweet to at poop McGhee.
- 3:35Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, send me gift cards and we're going to
- 3:39Speaker 6: be in Australia. We are on my birthday when I
- 3:43Speaker 6: turned the Big four zero.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Nice.
- 3:44Speaker 4: We had a running joke the other day that we're
- 3:47Speaker 4: going to celebrate your birthday with a Nick got a
- 3:49Speaker 4: salad at a restaurant and it was positioned linear and
- 3:57Speaker 4: it was like, let us laid out.
- 3:58Speaker 2: It was positioned horizontally. It was long, so it was
- 4:01Speaker 2: a long salad. It was long like dominoes.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I was following along via text. It made a lot
- 4:06Speaker 1: of sense to me.
- 4:06Speaker 2: I will say this. We were not high when we
- 4:09Speaker 2: started coming up with.
- 4:10Speaker 1: This, but we were. We were in Canada.
- 4:11Speaker 2: We're gonna open a restaurant. It's where everything is served
- 4:14Speaker 2: left to right. It's all long. Eat a long salad.
- 4:17Speaker 2: It goes like this, you eat it across left to right, it's.
- 4:19Speaker 5: Going to give it.
- 4:20Speaker 1: French fries that are just lined up individually, you have
- 4:24Speaker 1: to eat it.
- 4:24Speaker 2: What about the spaghetti and then yeah, long spaghetti with
- 4:28Speaker 2: a drip of marinaro in a row, they're laid out.
- 4:31Speaker 2: It's going to do well in certain places. Yeah, cities
- 4:35Speaker 2: like Sioux Falls.
- 4:37Speaker 7: Yeah, oh my god, they'd love to eat left high
- 4:40Speaker 7: concept dining.
- 4:41Speaker 4: You eat and sit left to right like you like
- 4:44Speaker 4: walk in, sit left to right, long Canoli's.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Here's my pitch. Here's my pitch.
- 4:49Speaker 3: You get a My pitch is you get a if
- 4:52Speaker 3: you bring a guest and you can get through the
- 4:55Speaker 3: entire dinner without them mentioning that everything's left to right
- 4:58Speaker 3: and it's obviously very is all?
- 5:00Speaker 1: Are you get a free meal?
- 5:01Speaker 7: So explain this a little bit more for those listening
- 5:03Speaker 7: at home, and because we're using our hands a bit.
- 5:05Speaker 7: Is it like you are you deconstructing a hot dog
- 5:09Speaker 7: or something to that effect?
- 5:11Speaker 1: Is an ingredient by an Indian jump on one side.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Dog is technically a long food, so would we wouldn't
- 5:16Speaker 2: have it at our There are foods that are long,
- 5:21Speaker 2: no foods that are not long.
- 5:22Speaker 5: Long long foods the basic food.
- 5:24Speaker 2: But ros already got it off the Men like the
- 5:28Speaker 2: Men item.
- 5:30Speaker 1: You can order it. We have lots of we don't
- 5:31Speaker 1: really prefer to make it.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Oh Jack, we forgot to ask your birthday and your
- 5:35Speaker 2: age and your favorite.
- 5:37Speaker 8: Your birthday and your age. My birthday September twentieth, nineteen
- 5:43Speaker 8: eighty seven. Okay, so that makes you thirty eight years old.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Nice.
- 5:46Speaker 3: So John is the oldest, the eldest. Did you feel
- 5:49Speaker 3: like he was always the eldest? Did he?
- 5:51Speaker 1: Did he make you feel like you were younger than
- 5:52Speaker 1: him when we was in the band a little bit?
- 5:55Speaker 5: Yeah, but like he was like older brother vibe.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Yeah, John told me everything about life I did.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Like Actually, John taught me a lot about life too,
- 6:03Speaker 2: like what it was effectively my chaperone for a lot
- 6:05Speaker 2: of the early days of touring, and he was dangerous.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Teach me about conspiracy theories. He gave me hot takes
- 6:11Speaker 2: on music, which was mostly you just kind of shitting
- 6:16Speaker 2: on everything that wasn't sort of emo pop Jason or
- 6:21Speaker 2: came out of Burke or the Beatles, came out of
- 6:22Speaker 2: Burkeer the Beatles.
- 6:23Speaker 1: It's true Berkeley to the Beatles. Then memoir of John Taylor.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Yeah, Greg was sort of more Greg and Jack was
- 6:29Speaker 2: sort of more around our age, closer to our age.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Yeah right, and so we did silly stuff.
- 6:36Speaker 1: It was cool what happened.
- 6:39Speaker 3: But I back to your point of not knowing anything.
- 6:42Speaker 3: John Taylor taught you how to use microwave.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, which we mentioned in part one. We didn't get.
- 6:48Speaker 7: See, this is this year we can unbock some things
- 6:50Speaker 7: that we brushed over and please one.
- 6:52Speaker 1: So here's the real story.
- 6:54Speaker 7: Greg lovely Greg, incredible family, incredible parents. Greg is allergic
- 7:00Speaker 7: to almost everything. So for one of his birthdays, I
- 7:03Speaker 7: made Greg a business card that lists all of his
- 7:05Speaker 7: allergies so that when he's abroad he could hand that
- 7:07Speaker 7: or anywhere he could hand that to a waiter.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Because I love Greg that has all of his allergies.
- 7:11Speaker 7: Gifts, I'm allergic to all these things. Please give this
- 7:14Speaker 7: to the death. I think I gave him five hundred
- 7:16Speaker 7: of those business cards had a great cartoon version of
- 7:19Speaker 7: Greg on it, the cars Dude, and so it was
- 7:22Speaker 7: foods that the groove Dude approves. So Greg had never
- 7:25Speaker 7: cooked food, he'd never done laundry. He went home every
- 7:28Speaker 7: weekend from Seaton Hall to stay with his folks because
- 7:30Speaker 7: that was a safe place to be because of the
- 7:32Speaker 7: sold world's dangerous for a guy like Greg, so flash
- 7:37Speaker 7: he's trying. He's trying to, you know, bring himself in
- 7:41Speaker 7: and acclimate to an environment on the road, and we're
- 7:44Speaker 7: helping him through that.
- 7:45Speaker 1: I was maybe a little aggressive and a bit of
- 7:47Speaker 1: a bull and you didn't bully him at all. No,
- 7:48Speaker 1: I sure know. I come from a family of four.
- 7:53Speaker 7: I'm the third of four, and I grew up in
- 7:56Speaker 7: a neighborhood of the thousand people in it. And bullying
- 7:58Speaker 7: is it's a little bit in there. It toughens the
- 8:00Speaker 7: skin a bit, thickens it up. So Greg he takes
- 8:03Speaker 7: it upon himself. He's hungry. We're on the tour bus
- 8:05Speaker 7: and I watch him and I just observe, almost like
- 8:08Speaker 7: a guy on a safari watching an animal who's just
- 8:10Speaker 7: been born.
- 8:11Speaker 1: And he reaches into the cupboard. I'm like, oh, what's
- 8:13Speaker 1: he doing.
- 8:14Speaker 7: We're on a tour bus, right, And he pulls a
- 8:16Speaker 7: can of spaghettios out of the cupboard and he glances
- 8:19Speaker 7: at the can, doesn't certainly doesn't read the instructions whatever.
- 8:22Speaker 6: He opens the microwave, but I read on the can
- 8:25Speaker 6: microwave for three minutes. Yes, but for some reason.
- 8:30Speaker 7: There's a lawsuit into the microwave. I'm still watching it
- 8:33Speaker 7: at this point. My eyebrows are up. I'm like, oh,
- 8:35Speaker 7: this is good. For some reason, he doesn't press three minutes.
- 8:39Speaker 7: He just hits like the you know, rapid start button whatever,
- 8:42Speaker 7: and it goes for one minute.
- 8:44Speaker 1: And I'm watching him and he's whoa, whoa, and the
- 8:46Speaker 1: sparks start flying up. I'm like, Greg, Greg, turn the
- 8:48Speaker 1: front of the mic I let him get all the.
- 8:49Speaker 7: Way there, because sometimes you gotta let the kid to
- 8:52Speaker 7: touch the flame before you pull him from the phone.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Part of you that was was curious what would happen
- 8:57Speaker 2: to him in the scenario or.
- 8:59Speaker 7: Was it just a by arresting the scenario that was
- 9:03Speaker 7: happening at the time was probably selfishly motivated because if
- 9:06Speaker 7: the microwave broke, I wouldn't be able to microwave my
- 9:08Speaker 7: four hundred Totinos pizza roles that I was gonna.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Eat after the show.
- 9:13Speaker 7: So h you know, because I've gone through some phases, guys,
- 9:16Speaker 7: I was, I was. I was housing maybe five thousand
- 9:18Speaker 7: calories of frozen food a day back then.
- 9:20Speaker 6: Also, John, once on the bus you drank like ten
- 9:23Speaker 6: water bottles of water in like ten minutes.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I think we had to pull the bus over. It
- 9:30Speaker 1: was like a bit you would do.
- 9:32Speaker 5: John did this thing one time.
- 9:35Speaker 2: It just went right through his body, massive amounts of
- 9:37Speaker 2: liquid and as as quickly as you possibly can you
- 9:41Speaker 2: and Big Rob.
- 9:42Speaker 1: That was like a feat.
- 9:43Speaker 7: I would be.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I remember remember the red bulls. He would chug red
- 9:47Speaker 1: bulls as fast as humanly possible.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Yeah, oh yeah, I recall John, you housing two or
- 9:53Speaker 2: three red bulls as you often did. And at this
- 9:56Speaker 2: particular show while we're on tour, there was a very
- 9:58Speaker 2: famous televis angelists that attended the shows, and he did
- 10:02Speaker 2: the prayer at the prayer circle was the show, and
- 10:04Speaker 2: your heart was pounding.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I just remember looking over.
- 10:08Speaker 2: At this hell of angelists and he looked at you
- 10:11Speaker 2: and it was like, this person's going on stage in
- 10:13Speaker 2: two minutes.
- 10:15Speaker 1: And I lived to tell the story, I would be.
- 10:18Speaker 7: I would be rich today in the TikTok Instagram world
- 10:21Speaker 7: if I could still chug liquid siced. There's this guy
- 10:23Speaker 7: who fills up a cowboy boot with stuff and just
- 10:25Speaker 7: takes it down the hatch, And like I could do that,
- 10:27Speaker 7: I can't.
- 10:28Speaker 3: We had some legendary people in the pre show huddle,
- 10:31Speaker 3: which would sometimes be a prayer, sometimes just be like
- 10:33Speaker 3: a I don't know if campfire.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Was a minute care living the dream. Matt Damon was
- 10:37Speaker 2: one person.
- 10:39Speaker 6: He joined in and closed out the Burning Up tour
- 10:42Speaker 6: in Miami. Yes, he was there for prayer.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Our mother really enjoyed having Matt Damon at the prayer circle.
- 10:48Speaker 8: I enjoyed it too, But you're dead guy. Thank God
- 10:51Speaker 8: for Barry Gibb when he was there.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Came to show this family and he joined the prayer
- 10:55Speaker 2: circle and he would come and in the Miami are
- 10:59Speaker 2: for get Another person we had in our in our
- 11:02Speaker 2: pre show huddle, which was pretty incredible for all of
- 11:05Speaker 2: us because he was also just hanging out and catering
- 11:06Speaker 2: one day was Paul Simon.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Yes, that's John. You and I had one of our
- 11:09Speaker 1: favorite nights ever his friends at the Paul Simon show
- 11:12Speaker 1: at the Hollywood Bowl. Yes, yeah, that's one of my
- 11:14Speaker 1: favorite memories.
- 11:15Speaker 7: These are the things that would happen as a band
- 11:17Speaker 7: member with Jonas brothers, and these are the things that
- 11:19Speaker 7: sometimes these guys would have to miss because of how
- 11:21Speaker 7: hard they were working for you guys.
- 11:22Speaker 1: The fans at home.
- 11:23Speaker 7: So at that point we were doing big meet and greets,
- 11:26Speaker 7: and I remember your dad came and said, hey, every day,
- 11:29Speaker 7: what's a big meet and greet? Like five hundred, six
- 11:31Speaker 7: hundred people. It would take show, it would take hours.
- 11:34Speaker 7: Because you're really gracious with your fans, you took a
- 11:36Speaker 7: lot of time to really show up and connect with them.
- 11:39Speaker 7: And your dad came back. We were in uh new
- 11:42Speaker 7: work at P and C and your dad comes back.
- 11:44Speaker 7: He said, would you mind spending some time with someone?
- 11:46Speaker 7: Because the guys were tied up. He got here early
- 11:48Speaker 7: and his daughter's in the meet and greet line and
- 11:50Speaker 7: he didn't mention who was He's like, he's in catering.
- 11:53Speaker 7: And then because you guys were tied up, I walk
- 11:55Speaker 7: into catering and it's Paul Simons and I'm like, yeah,
- 11:59Speaker 7: I'm going to hang out. And I like almost two
- 12:01Speaker 7: hours with Paul Simon while you guys were in the
- 12:02Speaker 7: me I walked him to front of the house and
- 12:04Speaker 7: to HUTSI I took him through the back. He played
- 12:06Speaker 7: some of my guitars, we walked around the stage.
- 12:08Speaker 5: You didn't calm hang out with me, and Simon.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Wanted to for me to be honest, I would also
- 12:17Speaker 3: not be like, sorry, guys, I didn't even know who
- 12:19Speaker 3: it was, and I'm a really all these years and
- 12:24Speaker 3: then wow, that wasn't the only musical legend that you
- 12:26Speaker 3: met throughout this process.
- 12:28Speaker 1: You've got like the what's it.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Called, what's the the Guy and Avengers in finish stones,
- 12:33Speaker 2: you get the infinished stones of legend because Brian Wilson
- 12:36Speaker 2: also come to you and said, Hey, how's music.
- 12:37Speaker 7: Brian Wilson did say how's music at backstage at the hollywa.
- 12:41Speaker 1: On multiple occasions.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Paul McCartney was around, But I will say John and
- 12:45Speaker 2: I I'm sorry, guys. We have one of the best
- 12:48Speaker 2: memories of you know, meeting pretty cool people. During the
- 12:52Speaker 2: Obama presidency, I was asked to be a part of
- 12:54Speaker 2: the Motown tribute Facts. John accompanied me as both my friend,
- 12:58Speaker 2: musical director and guitar player, and last minute they're like, hey,
- 13:02Speaker 2: can you do a song for the for the luncheon
- 13:06Speaker 2: before the event tomorrow night? And I'm like, uh, sure,
- 13:10Speaker 2: I'll perform for Motown Legends with basically no rehears.
- 13:14Speaker 7: Smokey Robinson and Barry Gordy and Michelle Obama in the
- 13:17Speaker 7: front let us.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Play your three thousand.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Yeah, so we're like, what if we just play the
- 13:22Speaker 2: song I'm doing tomorrow night, which we've been practicing. So
- 13:24Speaker 2: we played jug A Ba honey Punch, just John and acoustic,
- 13:28Speaker 2: and then that night went to sound check at the
- 13:32Speaker 2: White House and the next day and this is I'll
- 13:34Speaker 2: land I'll land the plane soon. I remember asking John
- 13:37Speaker 2: who was also there, sort of as like a management
- 13:39Speaker 2: rep kind of like help you know, like what's the
- 13:41Speaker 2: dress code for tonight because I don't recall like having
- 13:44Speaker 2: seen that. And it was listed as right like casual
- 13:48Speaker 2: or something. Yeah, it was something like cocktail casual. I
- 13:51Speaker 2: don't remember it was. It was not as hard to
- 13:53Speaker 2: understand language.
- 13:55Speaker 4: So it's one of the garden party like wedding.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Things like we don't know what it is. We realize.
- 14:03Speaker 2: By the way, the wardrobe attire was for the daytime event.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Oh no, the nighttime event was a practice high.
- 14:12Speaker 1: White House.
- 14:13Speaker 2: In the East room at the White House, Michelle Obama,
- 14:18Speaker 2: Stevie Wonder, every legend you can think of the front
- 14:21Speaker 2: row and I'm doing a Motown tribute with Seal, Jamie
- 14:26Speaker 2: Fox and John Legend. They're all suited, booted I'm I scramble.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I go to like Sears or something nearby. Just get
- 14:34Speaker 2: a white button down shirt and a black tie. No
- 14:36Speaker 2: jackets would fit them on stage, and just that.
- 14:38Speaker 1: You looked amazing. It was ridiculous, looked amazing.
- 14:40Speaker 7: And they sat me directly behind the president and the
- 14:42Speaker 7: vice president. And I said to the person when they
- 14:44Speaker 7: sat me, I think I'm in the wrong seat, and
- 14:47Speaker 7: they were like, no, that's your seat.
- 14:49Speaker 4: So you have a hard time with that stuff, like
- 14:51Speaker 4: when you when you show up to an event and
- 14:52Speaker 4: it's you're under dressed or you think it's going to
- 14:54Speaker 4: be something.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Like do you panic? Have you met nick Y? Like
- 14:57Speaker 1: what kind of question is that regularly?
- 14:59Speaker 4: Have you before today to say, hey, what like it
- 15:04Speaker 4: just happened to me face, it's kind of happening to me.
- 15:09Speaker 1: You look fantastic. It did happen to me.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Before the Disney Legends thing, I had a suit with
- 15:13Speaker 4: my outfit and it looked like I was like a
- 15:15Speaker 4: five year old. Put on dad, let's unpack this because
- 15:17Speaker 4: you were you were your little Let me see that
- 15:19Speaker 4: the trailer was warm and it got hot and Kevin
- 15:21Speaker 4: was injury.
- 15:23Speaker 1: You were really long.
- 15:25Speaker 3: I thought it looked very fashionable. Kevin did not like
- 15:28Speaker 3: I knew. I've been I've been there. It's frustrating for
- 15:32Speaker 3: a minute.
- 15:32Speaker 1: You got to you got to recalibrate and you have
- 15:35Speaker 1: to get it out.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Yeah you have like you should buy like a like yeah, boxing,
- 15:41Speaker 2: no jacket, no jacket, no shirt. In his case was great.
- 15:45Speaker 2: In mine not so good.
- 15:47Speaker 1: I remember it and I think it was great.
- 15:50Speaker 7: You can find that online the PBS special. Yeah, you
- 15:53Speaker 7: crushed it. It was incredible. Greg filling Games was the
- 15:55Speaker 7: music director. It was a world class band. You were
- 15:57Speaker 7: up there with your peers and contemporaries. You say, you
- 16:00Speaker 7: were up there with a bunch of legends. You're a
- 16:01Speaker 7: legend yourself, and you crushed it was amazing.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Well thanks John Taylor and I also had a really
- 16:05Speaker 3: good celeb highlight night. I think all of us went
- 16:09Speaker 3: to go see YouTube play at the Toronto Blue Jays Stadium.
- 16:12Speaker 3: We were filming Camp were filming Camp Rock Deuce at
- 16:15Speaker 3: the time. I had an early morning the next day
- 16:18Speaker 3: and during the show.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Important to to note to you were nineteen at the time, right,
- 16:23Speaker 2: I was, you were legally able to drink in Canada.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, So.
- 16:30Speaker 3: We were approached all of us by what was Bono's publicism,
- 16:34Speaker 3: and he said, excuse me, Hi, I just want to
- 16:35Speaker 3: let you guys know that Bono is going to be
- 16:37Speaker 3: having a really exclusive after party and he wanted to
- 16:39Speaker 3: extend it by you and the band. We'd love to
- 16:41Speaker 3: see you guys there obviously is on stage, but right
- 16:43Speaker 3: now you can't say hi, but he would love to
- 16:45Speaker 3: say how do you guys after the show? And we're
- 16:46Speaker 3: all like, oh, thank you. Now that kind of felt like, oh,
- 16:49Speaker 3: this is probably not really, like it's not Bona's not
- 16:51Speaker 3: really they really say an exclusive after he said exclusive
- 16:54Speaker 3: VIP like slib only party. That's hilarious, And so we
- 16:59Speaker 3: said some thing a I would write.
- 17:01Speaker 1: So we were like one million we knowing that we
- 17:06Speaker 1: had at early morning, We're like, well, like all right,
- 17:08Speaker 1: let's just write this off. Is not gonna happen.
- 17:09Speaker 3: So we go by the hotel, but like the whole
- 17:12Speaker 3: drive back and by the way, one of the best
- 17:13Speaker 3: concerts we've ever seen.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Did you shave today? Yeah? I'm gonna look different now. Yeah.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Anyway, so I shaved her. Well, I shaved twice. Actually
- 17:23Speaker 3: I shaved a game when I got here.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Shadow. So anyway, so then we get to the hotel.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I remember we get on our floor at like floor fifteen.
- 17:33Speaker 3: John Taylor looked at I'm I'm like, bro, the parties
- 17:36Speaker 3: across the street, like we're going to the part.
- 17:39Speaker 1: What if we don't go? Everyone to bed.
- 17:41Speaker 3: Everyone was like, all right, we'll see in the morning,
- 17:42Speaker 3: and you and I look at him like, I know
- 17:44Speaker 3: it's already like eleven pm. We have to wake up early,
- 17:46Speaker 3: Like I think our call time was five a am or whatever.
- 17:49Speaker 3: I was like, but if, like Bono, one of my heroes,
- 17:53Speaker 3: is just I had this vision of him just waiting
- 17:55Speaker 3: for us, like I guess they'll never show.
- 17:57Speaker 1: So Johnna is like, let's just go.
- 17:59Speaker 3: So we went down walk across the street, walk in
- 18:02Speaker 3: and it's kind of like empty, Like it was like
- 18:03Speaker 3: people were starting to kind of like trickle in because
- 18:05Speaker 3: the concert was just finishing.
- 18:06Speaker 1: We got there pretty fast.
- 18:08Speaker 7: That's that's what happens when you have a party that's
- 18:10Speaker 7: a little too exclusive, you know, when it's all VIP celebrities,
- 18:13Speaker 7: it's thin and super important.
- 18:16Speaker 1: There's not a lot of people around you.
- 18:17Speaker 3: This is like pre Drake, So the party was not
- 18:20Speaker 3: at many Toronto's Lips Drink was still into grassy at
- 18:22Speaker 3: the time.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Yeah, it was so then Jimmy got shot.
- 18:25Speaker 2: So then about forty five minutes in, I look at John,
- 18:29Speaker 2: I'm like, look, we can wait another ten minutes, but
- 18:31Speaker 2: if like Bono doesn't show them, we should just.
- 18:33Speaker 7: Leave quick side note there was also a hater in
- 18:35Speaker 7: the room and you got to squash some beef.
- 18:37Speaker 1: So don't forget about that part. That's important. I was
- 18:39Speaker 1: gonna forget that, okay.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Like the doors shoot open and like like it felt
- 18:45Speaker 3: like a movie scene, like a mist of smoke, and
- 18:47Speaker 3: Bono walks in with his shirts buttoned down to like
- 18:51Speaker 3: the flask button. He's in a jean shirt and jean
- 18:53Speaker 3: pants and he just has his sunglasses on.
- 18:55Speaker 1: He's looking around.
- 18:56Speaker 3: He's like hey, hey, yayyy and he walks stripes to us.
- 19:01Speaker 1: It's just me and John sitting on a round table.
- 19:03Speaker 3: He sits down right next to us and we're like ugh,
- 19:07Speaker 3: and he immediately just starts talking to us for hours wherever.
- 19:11Speaker 1: And he then is like, you need to meet my friend.
- 19:15Speaker 3: I'm not gonna do it his impression. I'm not gonna
- 19:16Speaker 3: even try to do impression. You need to me my friend.
- 19:18Speaker 3: And Maxwell, the singer comes over and says with us,
- 19:20Speaker 3: I'm like, oh my god. And then somebody sends him
- 19:24Speaker 3: a flag and it was like an Irish or his
- 19:26Speaker 3: favorite team's flag and it was like defaced, like like jokingly,
- 19:30Speaker 3: like funny content, and he's like where is he?
- 19:32Speaker 1: And he kids up.
- 19:33Speaker 3: He's like, I'll be all right back and Colin Colin
- 19:35Speaker 3: Farrell was outside apparently, and they're like best friends but
- 19:38Speaker 3: also rivals of the like it's similar to Man City
- 19:41Speaker 3: and Liverpool Jack and Iran City favor there's like a
- 19:44Speaker 3: friendly robbery and he was like, where is he going?
- 19:47Speaker 1: And he walks outside him to mess up.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Colin Farrell was wild and but the highlight for me
- 19:53Speaker 3: and for both of us, I guess I would say
- 19:54Speaker 3: he was like not giving us like tons of amazing advice,
- 19:57Speaker 3: talking about songwriting and like we're in our career. It
- 20:01Speaker 3: was everything you would have dreamt of meeting one of
- 20:02Speaker 3: your heroes. And yes, and then the lead singer at
- 20:05Speaker 3: Snow Patrol. Two weeks before that, he there was an
- 20:09Speaker 3: article where he essentially wrote something about the purity rings
- 20:13Speaker 3: that we had at that time and how it was
- 20:16Speaker 3: a way for us to sell music to people and
- 20:19Speaker 3: to like and it was like a Disney's idea and
- 20:23Speaker 3: we were.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Just like dangerous.
- 20:24Speaker 3: It is a marketing selling sex to young people as
- 20:28Speaker 3: a marketing tool, and he thought it was like selling
- 20:32Speaker 3: non sex, Yeah, non sex, and he sat down. And
- 20:35Speaker 3: at this moment, I feel full of confidence because I'm
- 20:38Speaker 3: like surrounded by Maxwell John Bono and like.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Kings Leon were the opening band that they were there too, oh.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Yeah, and they were kicking it too, and I just
- 20:47Speaker 3: remember being like, yeah, I kind of feel invincible.
- 20:49Speaker 1: And I just was like I met the lead singer
- 20:51Speaker 1: Garry Walks up.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Bono was like, oh me, my friend Joe Jonas whatever,
- 20:56Speaker 2: and I'm like, oh hi, and I was like, oh yeah,
- 20:59Speaker 2: actually I have something I want to talk to you about.
- 21:02Speaker 2: And I was like that article was like when we
- 21:04Speaker 2: went we kind of got into it and then Bona
- 21:06Speaker 2: made him sit down and we like kind of aired
- 21:07Speaker 2: it out and it was really.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Mediated and squashed a beef.
- 21:12Speaker 7: Regularly well, driving home late at night in Ireland will
- 21:15Speaker 7: pick up like a guy who's trunk out a pub
- 21:17Speaker 7: and drive him back to his house and knock on
- 21:19Speaker 7: the door and wake his wife up and be like
- 21:20Speaker 7: I got your husband here, and the wife's here.
- 21:23Speaker 1: He's a saint, so can I.
- 21:27Speaker 6: This reminds me of a time I had a huge fumble.
- 21:30Speaker 6: Kind of has to do with Bono my first year
- 21:32Speaker 6: working in management with you guys, Joe's and and Jack uh.
- 21:37Speaker 6: We had just launched d n C and we traveled
- 21:41Speaker 6: constantly and we were working every single day trying to
- 21:43Speaker 6: promote Kicked by the Ocean.
- 21:45Speaker 1: This is right before the song started.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Getting We're operating like an eighties hair metal band.
- 21:51Speaker 1: It was. It was tequila at three.
- 21:56Speaker 5: I was totally exhausted.
- 21:58Speaker 1: It was fun, it was so fun, but it was
- 22:01Speaker 1: the time.
- 22:02Speaker 6: I uh, so was Christmas time and we finally had
- 22:06Speaker 6: just gotten off the the jingle ball shows actually nice.
- 22:10Speaker 1: And I had been away from home for so long.
- 22:12Speaker 6: And that year my brother in law, Reeve Carney, was
- 22:17Speaker 6: was in a show, a Broadway show, spider Man Turned
- 22:20Speaker 6: Off the Dark, which was all the music was written
- 22:22Speaker 6: by Bono and the Edge, So Reeve and the entire
- 22:26Speaker 6: family we were all invited to Ireland to spend Christmas
- 22:29Speaker 6: at Bono's house and I and everybody went except for
- 22:34Speaker 6: me and my wife. We said, oh, you know, I've
- 22:36Speaker 6: just been touring a lot. I think I'm just We're
- 22:37Speaker 6: just gonna hang.
- 22:37Speaker 1: At home, Are you kidding me?
- 22:39Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 22:40Speaker 1: And I totally fumbled, like.
- 22:43Speaker 7: You did not have your allergy card yet and that
- 22:46Speaker 7: was probably a safe decision.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Foods are safe and you probably some peas or something
- 22:53Speaker 1: cereal awesome. That's the first time I met by me.
- 23:01Speaker 3: He's just like sitting there going like, why did that
- 23:03Speaker 3: guy not want to come to.
- 23:07Speaker 5: I have a story. I'll make it short though.
- 23:09Speaker 8: I got into a Paul McCartney after party because they
- 23:12Speaker 8: thought you guys were going, and I was like, yeah,
- 23:14Speaker 8: the guys are on their way and they're like, cool,
- 23:16Speaker 8: come on in, and then I got to hang out.
- 23:20Speaker 5: Came you guys never came.
- 23:21Speaker 8: Actually, I don't think I knew you guys were coming
- 23:23Speaker 8: at the time, but by the time I got in,
- 23:24Speaker 8: I was like, where I'm not going to leave. It
- 23:26Speaker 8: was at the Hollywood Bowl show. We all were going
- 23:30Speaker 8: to go and then you guys went WHOA.
- 23:32Speaker 5: I was like, do you.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Guys ever use that? Like use the band thing?
- 23:36Speaker 6: I got out of a speeding ticket once because I
- 23:39Speaker 6: just said, it's just in New Jersey during the Burning
- 23:42Speaker 6: Up tour and I said, uh. I played bass for
- 23:45Speaker 6: the Jonas Brothers and he was like, do you have
- 23:47Speaker 6: a CD?
- 23:48Speaker 1: Like what, why would I have the CD?
- 23:51Speaker 2: A CD on you?
- 23:52Speaker 1: Though? No?
- 23:53Speaker 7: And he just I just he just believed me same
- 23:56Speaker 7: and he let me got out of a speeding ticket
- 23:57Speaker 7: early days because of you guys. On one of those
- 24:00Speaker 7: North Jersey turnpike off shoot ros, I was going very fast.
- 24:04Speaker 4: I got the opposite though, I got pulled over and
- 24:07Speaker 4: I got you.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Got to take it because you're Jonahs brother.
- 24:10Speaker 4: I think it may have been because he was like
- 24:12Speaker 4: proving a point to his state trooper friends that he
- 24:15Speaker 4: pulled over a Jonah's brother and he was going to send.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Me the full letter of the law. Name in badge
- 24:20Speaker 2: that's three seven to two on the New Jersey No.
- 24:24Speaker 2: But like he like pulled me out of the car.
- 24:26Speaker 2: The whole thing it was like inspect the vehicle, you
- 24:29Speaker 2: need to see.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Because he I presented him with a Texas license and
- 24:35Speaker 4: his whole thing was, you can't own a car in
- 24:37Speaker 4: New Jersey with the Texas license, And I.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Go, can you live in Jersey? Still? Yeah?
- 24:43Speaker 4: But this was when I had residents in Texas and
- 24:45Speaker 4: I was said, I have a home in both places,
- 24:48Speaker 4: and but that's my main residence he goes, that's not allowed.
- 24:50Speaker 1: I spent six months and one day.
- 24:52Speaker 4: Exactly and I said it is allowed, and then he
- 24:54Speaker 4: got me out of the car.
- 24:55Speaker 2: I think you should start a like a offshoot podcast
- 25:00Speaker 2: of the hay Jonas podcast, which is where you talk
- 25:02Speaker 2: about legal stuff.
- 25:02Speaker 3: All right, guys, we're gonna do some voicemailing, uh and
- 25:05Speaker 3: we'd love your your help with these.
- 25:07Speaker 9: I'm just approaching two years of marriage and it's been great. However,
- 25:12Speaker 9: I have a terrible fear of spiders. And my husband
- 25:14Speaker 9: doesn't want a pet dog, a pet pig. He want
- 25:17Speaker 9: a freaking tarantula.
- 25:18Speaker 1: How would you approach this?
- 25:20Speaker 9: Thank you, Love you guys.
- 25:21Speaker 3: So you're hud okay, so you guys are approaching two
- 25:24Speaker 3: years of marriage. You don't like spiders, He doesn't want
- 25:28Speaker 3: to get any other animal except a tarantula. He might
- 25:31Speaker 3: not like you And yeah, that sounds crazy. I think
- 25:36Speaker 3: if he gets a transula, you get whatever pet you want.
- 25:38Speaker 6: Yeah, something that eats tarantula's probably, Yeah, get a snake.
- 25:43Speaker 4: Thinking about the tanslo typically it's gonna stay inside the
- 25:45Speaker 4: glass case.
- 25:46Speaker 1: I mean, have you ever seen home alone? Yeah?
- 25:49Speaker 2: Good point, I think, uh, yeah, you get whatever you
- 25:52Speaker 2: want if but you can say yes to the transla.
- 25:55Speaker 3: But you can get any animal you want, any animal,
- 25:57Speaker 3: doesn't matter the price. You should you should retort? You
- 26:01Speaker 3: should what's that word means?
- 26:02Speaker 1: Retort?
- 26:03Speaker 7: In other words, you should get a thing he hates. Oh,
- 26:06Speaker 7: it is about compromise and retorting. Yeah, sometimes you need
- 26:11Speaker 7: to just retort.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Okay, next up, what do you go sonus? How are
- 26:14Speaker 1: you guys?
- 26:15Speaker 9: Listen? I got a buddy and he's on the call
- 26:19Speaker 9: here with me. We've been we've been really good friends
- 26:22Speaker 9: for over twenty five years, you know, almost best friends.
- 26:26Speaker 9: We're close with each other's families. His kids call me uncle,
- 26:29Speaker 9: My kids called him uncle. Uh.
- 26:31Speaker 1: We look quite alike.
- 26:34Speaker 9: We've always known that, but recently we were on a
- 26:37Speaker 9: family vacation with our families late into the night when
- 26:42Speaker 9: our kids were talking about how much he and I
- 26:44Speaker 9: look alike and even act alike.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Our mennerisms are the same.
- 26:48Speaker 9: And you know, Jesus, like you guys are like brothers.
- 26:51Speaker 9: It's like you guys are like brothers. My mom comes
- 26:55Speaker 9: out and tells my buddy. She says, well, I knew
- 27:00Speaker 9: your dad. This caused everyone to sort of squeal, and
- 27:08Speaker 9: even the youngest kids knew what that little ellipsis after
- 27:11Speaker 9: I knew might mean my mom was insinuating that her
- 27:18Speaker 9: and my buddy's dad shagged in the past, and this
- 27:23Speaker 9: got everyone investigating our kids, finding out timelines when it
- 27:27Speaker 9: could have happened. Some timelines did add up for the possibility. Uh,
- 27:33Speaker 9: there was a time where my my mom and who
- 27:37Speaker 9: I have always known to be my dad were in
- 27:40Speaker 9: a divorce and during that divorce, my buddy's dad was
- 27:47Speaker 9: you you want to speak on this, but.
- 27:49Speaker 10: Well, they were boning and there was he.
- 27:54Speaker 9: We that that's the point, he was. What they were
- 28:00Speaker 9: is a hotel receipt that was in the.
- 28:03Speaker 10: There's a The point is I want to say to
- 28:06Speaker 10: the Jonas bros. These guys are smart guys, very savvy.
- 28:10Speaker 10: The obvious thing to do we take a DNA test,
- 28:14Speaker 10: because because it's really clear that they were having sex
- 28:18Speaker 10: at the time that you were pro created.
- 28:22Speaker 9: Yes, you're jumping to a major conclusion, which is complete bullshit.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Hang on a second.
- 28:27Speaker 10: It doesn't mean there are some things and all of
- 28:30Speaker 10: the evidence, all of the evidence backs it up.
- 28:33Speaker 1: All you need to do is take the test, and
- 28:35Speaker 1: you refuse to take the test.
- 28:37Speaker 9: Question is why won't you, So let me speak about
- 28:40Speaker 9: the details that my buddy is just harping on to
- 28:42Speaker 9: believe that this is a scientific fact that we're actually
- 28:44Speaker 9: actually Okay, Granted, my mom and who have always believes
- 28:50Speaker 9: my dad, were in the middle of their second divorce
- 28:52Speaker 9: when my buddy was in a place in West Texas
- 28:59Speaker 9: where it is, we do have proof that my mom
- 29:01Speaker 9: traveled to at that time.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Doesn't say they hooked up. It says to my mom
- 29:04Speaker 1: traveled to that place at that time.
- 29:06Speaker 9: There is a quote that my buddy here likes to
- 29:09Speaker 9: always say that my mom always says that her husband,
- 29:13Speaker 9: the man I always believed to be my dad, said
- 29:15Speaker 9: the day I was born.
- 29:16Speaker 1: What's that he said?
- 29:19Speaker 10: She said, come on, let's go to the hospital. She
- 29:21Speaker 10: were about to give birth, and and she said, and
- 29:24Speaker 10: he said said, I'm not going.
- 29:27Speaker 1: To the hospital.
- 29:28Speaker 10: That's not my kid, Which you told me long before
- 29:31Speaker 10: ever mentioned anything to knowing about knowing Charles.
- 29:35Speaker 1: That was in jest, okay, And mind you.
- 29:38Speaker 10: It wasn't in jest that Now you're modifying history, your
- 29:42Speaker 10: revisionist historians.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Because you want this to be true. It's white part.
- 29:48Speaker 9: This is what sucks about you. You're you're you're all
- 29:49Speaker 9: excited about it and you and you're like, well me
- 29:51Speaker 9: be excited about it, all right. You're right, if this
- 29:54Speaker 9: was true, you gain't a brother, but I lose who
- 29:56Speaker 9: I thought would be My dad has been my dad
- 29:58Speaker 9: the last here's my life.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Okay.
- 30:01Speaker 10: But if that's the reason you don't want it, man,
- 30:03Speaker 10: take a DNA test and that's maybe a legitimate reason,
- 30:07Speaker 10: but at least it's an honest reason because you know
- 30:10Speaker 10: that the evidence is there.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Wow.
- 30:13Speaker 10: So so I just want to ask you, guys, what
- 30:16Speaker 10: would you do in this situation? We take a test,
- 30:20Speaker 10: but what would you do if the guy's unwilling to
- 30:22Speaker 10: take the test? What's your idea.
