- 0:10Announcer: Today's show will encourage, inspire, and empower you to face life's challenges with a bold confidence and renewed hope.
- 0:18Announcer: Now let's join our host, Ron Myers, the promoter.
- 0:23Ron Meyers: Hello, my friends.
- 0:24Ron Meyers: It is so good to be with you today.
- 0:27Ron Meyers: My name is Ron Myers, and I'm the host.
- 0:29Ron Meyers: The show is called Get the Hell Out of Your Life.
- 0:33Ron Meyers: Real stories, real struggles, and real hope.
- 0:36Ron Meyers: Today we're talking about something that every single one of us faces at some point in life.
- 0:43Ron Meyers: Faith under fire.
- 0:45Ron Meyers: Now, when we hear that phrase, we might think of soldiers, war zones, or first responders running toward danger.
- 0:53Ron Meyers: But the truth is, millions of people are living with faith under fire every single day.
- 0:58Ron Meyers: Fear about their health.
- 1:00Ron Meyers: Fear about their finances, fear about their future, fear about relationships falling apart, and fear that their life may never become what they hoped it would be.
- 1:11Ron Meyers: Fear has a voice, and fear tells convincing stories.
- 1:16Ron Meyers: Years ago, someone gave me a simple acronym for the word fear: false evidence appearing real.
- 1:24Ron Meyers: Fear creates pictures in our mind that feel real, even when they are not.
- 1:30Ron Meyers: Fear says stay safe, stay small, don't take that risk, don't step out.
- 1:36Ron Meyers: But faith says something completely different.
- 1:40Ron Meyers: Faith says trust God.
- 1:43Ron Meyers: Faith says step forward even when the path is not clear.
- 1:48Ron Meyers: Faith says, keep your eyes on Jesus even when the waves begin to rise.
- 1:54Ron Meyers: Remember the story when Peter saw Jesus walking on the water?
- 1:58Ron Meyers: Peter stepped out of the boat and started walking towards Jesus.
- 2:04Ron Meyers: But when Peter shifted his eyes from Jesus to the wind and the waves, well, he began to sink.
- 2:11Ron Meyers: And that is what fear does.
- 2:13Ron Meyers: Fear pulls our eyes off Jesus and onto the storm.
- 2:18Ron Meyers: But here's the truth I want you to remember today.
- 2:21Ron Meyers: You cannot walk on water if you never get out of the boat.
- 2:26Ron Meyers: So many people today are living in boats of fear, boats of doubt, boats of worry, and boats of what if.
- 2:33Ron Meyers: They are surviving, but they are not living the life God designed for them.
- 2:39Ron Meyers: That is why I love sharing stories, stories of faith like the one you're about to hear.
- 2:46Ron Meyers: Today you are going to meet a young woman whose faith was tested in a way most of us can barely imagine.
- 2:53Ron Meyers: Her name?
- 2:54Ron Meyers: Yasmin Mazawi, a 27-year-old Christian paramedic from Israel who lives in Nazareth, and she serves with Majen David Adam, Emergency Medical Service.
- 3:08Ron Meyers: On the morning of October 7, 2023, she was supposed to be boarding a plane to submit her master's thesis.
- 3:15Ron Meyers: Instead, rockets filled the sky, sirens began sounding, and she made a decision that placed her directly in the middle of danger.
- 3:24Ron Meyers: She went to work saving lives.
- 3:26Ron Meyers: What carried her through that day was not bravado, it was Psalm 23.
- 3:31Ron Meyers: The Lord is my shepherd.
- 3:34Ron Meyers: That quiet reminder that even in the valley, God is still walking beside us.
- 3:41Ron Meyers: And her story reminds us of something we all need to hear today.
- 3:46Ron Meyers: Fear may be loud, but faith is stronger.
- 3:50Ron Meyers: Let's take a listen.
- 3:51Ron Meyers: Well, listeners, I'm at the National Religious Broadcasting Convention, and I met this incredible young lady.
- 3:59Ron Meyers: I want to say this right, Yasmin Mazawi?
- 4:03Yasmeen Mazzawi: Yeah.
- 4:04Ron Meyers: All right, very good.
- 4:04Ron Meyers: Where do you live?
- 4:06Yasmeen Mazzawi: Sure.
- 4:06Yasmeen Mazzawi: So I live in Israel.
- 4:07Yasmeen Mazzawi: I was born in Nazareth.
- 4:09Yasmeen Mazzawi: I live in Nazareth.
- 4:10Ron Meyers: I think of Nazareth, and I think of Jesus.
- 4:13Ron Meyers: And you're a Christian?
- 4:14Yasmeen Mazzawi: Yes, I am.
- 4:15Ron Meyers: Oh, praise God.
- 4:16Yasmeen Mazzawi: I'm a Christian.
- 4:16Yasmeen Mazzawi: I was born to a Christian family.
- 4:18Ron Meyers: And you I saw you the other day.
- 4:20Ron Meyers: And you had your ambulance uniform on.
- 4:23Yasmeen Mazzawi: Yes.
- 4:24Ron Meyers: And you drive an ambulance in Israel.
- 4:27Ron Meyers: Tell the listeners your job.
- 4:29Yasmeen Mazzawi: Sure.
- 4:29Yasmeen Mazzawi: So I started volunteering at Magenda Vidodom.
- 4:32Yasmeen Mazzawi: Magenda Videdom is the national medical and emergency and blood services organization in Israel.
- 4:41Yasmeen Mazzawi: So I started volunteering as a young volunteer since the age of 15.
- 4:45Yasmeen Mazzawi: And when I turned 18, I took the decision to do a national service as a paramedic.
- 4:51Yasmeen Mazzawi: So I did a one year of professional intensive training and then two years of national service as a paramedic.
- 4:57Yasmeen Mazzawi: And since then I've been volunteering as a paramedic at MDA.
- 5:00Yasmeen Mazzawi: So all I do is volunteering.
- 5:02Ron Meyers: And you were on duty on October 7th.
- 5:05Ron Meyers: Take us into how God used you to help other people.
- 5:11Yasmeen Mazzawi: Wow, it was just a chaos, I would say.
- 5:13Yasmeen Mazzawi: Like I think everyone was feeling under uncertainty.
- 5:17Yasmeen Mazzawi: Nobody knows, no knew what's happening and what's gonna happen.
- 5:21Yasmeen Mazzawi: I just woke up just like everyone, 6 30 a.m.
- 5:24Yasmeen Mazzawi: in the morning of October 7th, and we saw all the alarms on our notifications and our phones, and we understood that something here is unusual that we didn't know or we didn't see before in the past.
- 5:37Yasmeen Mazzawi: And I was supposed to fly on the same day to submit my thesis for the masters.
- 5:43Yasmeen Mazzawi: And I took the decision not to fly and go to the station and support MDA in my region, the closest station to support my friends, my colleagues, the families.
- 5:55Yasmeen Mazzawi: And I think the verse that helped me and gave me the source of light all the time throughout this challenging time is Psalm 23.
- 6:04Yasmeen Mazzawi: The Lord is my shepherd.
- 6:06Yasmeen Mazzawi: This gave me the source of light that I want to be this light of people who were, you know, people who lost their family members and others who were kidnapped.
- 6:16Yasmeen Mazzawi: Many many of them we knew.
- 6:18Yasmeen Mazzawi: They were friends of ours, friends of our families and colleagues.
- 6:22Yasmeen Mazzawi: You know, it's not spe you know, it's it's not nothing that we it's very close, let's say.
- 6:27Yasmeen Mazzawi: It's very close to us.
- 6:28Yasmeen Mazzawi: But that was really, really challenging times.
- 6:31Ron Meyers: How old are you?
- 6:31Ron Meyers: You're young.
- 6:32Yasmeen Mazzawi: I'm tw almost 27.
- 6:34Ron Meyers: You're 27.
- 6:34Ron Meyers: So to see this horrific thing going on in front of your eyes, and then you're taking the ambulance out to get people, what's going through your mind?
- 6:43Yasmeen Mazzawi: To be honest, it's it's scary, you know?
- 6:46Yasmeen Mazzawi: It's all the tension, uncertainty.
- 6:48Yasmeen Mazzawi: Even going to emergency cases, and the sirens start in the outside, you have to stop the ambulance, go out, lay on the ground, say wait about 10 minutes or sometimes even more until the uh front command say otherwise, and then continue to to the emergency, you know, continue our way.
- 7:07Yasmeen Mazzawi: It's very challenging, it's very scary, for sure.
- 7:12Yasmeen Mazzawi: We're all human, right?
- 7:13Yasmeen Mazzawi: But I could feel that what gave me this energy is the unity that I could see in our teams.
- 7:21Yasmeen Mazzawi: Like we all in in Magenda Vidalam, we work and volunteer, people from so many different backgrounds, and I always like to use this analogy that each one is a hero, and what connects between us is this necklace made out of values, of loving the other, giving the other, of uh one mission of saving lives.
- 7:41Yasmeen Mazzawi: And all of us, as colleagues, Arabs, Jews, Muslims, Bitch, Druze, uh, Christians, worked all together for this mission of saving lives during these challenging times.
- 7:53Yasmeen Mazzawi: And also, you know, in the daily life as well, that's what we do is saving lives.
- 7:58Yasmeen Mazzawi: And this gave each one of us the power to continue and to serve and to, you know, to stay and stand still.
- 8:08Ron Meyers: So during the days, the weeks, the months after all this, are you sitting on edge wondering when a siren went off, what's gonna happen?
- 8:17Ron Meyers: Are we safe?
- 8:18Ron Meyers: Is it living in a lot of fear after the thing of it's gonna happen again, or what's it like?
- 8:25Yasmeen Mazzawi: Wow, this is a great question.
- 8:26Yasmeen Mazzawi: I think we have to do this separate, you know, as medics and as first aid providers.
- 8:32Yasmeen Mazzawi: And in especially in our country, we see lots of emergencies, and we've been going through a very hard and challenging years lately.
- 8:39Yasmeen Mazzawi: I think we have to do this separate sometimes, like the what we see and what we go through in our shifts, and then after when we go back home, we have to do that, not just for us, also for our families, because as I say, I think we have to be a source of light for other people in need, to families, for families who lost their family members, to friends of ours, to our colleagues, and I pray every day to our Heavenly Father to give me the power and be this source of light and power and to give this energy to my colleagues and our colleagues at MDA who maybe face other challenges than the fear of sirens, you know.
- 9:21Ron Meyers: There are people that are listening right now here in the United States that are going through trials and tribulations and fear, and their families are in trouble, and you have a microphone now.
- 9:33Ron Meyers: Can you give them some hope or some encouragement?
- 9:36Yasmeen Mazzawi: I would say that hope is there, and there is a light at the end of the road.
- 9:40Yasmeen Mazzawi: And as a believer, I I am sure that our Heavenly Father has a great big plan for each and every one of us.
- 9:49Yasmeen Mazzawi: Just believe that whatever challenge you are going through will definitely end.
- 9:56Ron Meyers: So you were gonna go fly away, but you didn't for your thesis.
- 10:00Ron Meyers: So you're you're in college or you're finishing college?
- 10:03Yasmeen Mazzawi: I finished my master's, I already submitted my thesis.
- 10:07Ron Meyers: So is there plans for Yasmin and maybe to leave the medical field, or what's the future look like for you?
- 10:13Yasmeen Mazzawi: My master's degree and my uh educational uh part I did not in the medical field.
- 10:19Yasmeen Mazzawi: I'm working in the generative uh artificial intelligence field, which is way different from the medical.
- 10:26Yasmeen Mazzawi: Oh no, not way different, but like in a different field, I would say.
- 10:29Yasmeen Mazzawi: And I'm pursuing my PhD now.
- 10:31Yasmeen Mazzawi: Yeah, and the medical field will always be there, and I will always continue volunteering as a paramedic.
- 10:39Ron Meyers: Living in Jerusalem and being Jewish, you have an audience right now that's Americans.
- 10:44Ron Meyers: Tell us a little bit more about life in Jerusalem.
- 10:49Yasmeen Mazzawi: I love that question.
- 10:50Yasmeen Mazzawi: I live in I live in the northern part, not from Jerusalem, but I would say what is is the you know similar to all cities uh and to all places in Israel and the people in Israel is that we all say great life.
- 11:06Yasmeen Mazzawi: So people do love one another.
- 11:09Yasmeen Mazzawi: Definitely wherever there are differences, there is tension everywhere, not only in Israel, all around the world.
- 11:15Yasmeen Mazzawi: But Israel is amazing, people of Israel are amazing, and you can find the love and the the compassion to one another.
- 11:25Yasmeen Mazzawi: Yeah, I think this is something that the world don't see in the media, maybe.
- 11:29Ron Meyers: You ever just think about your living where Jesus, the Messiah, walks?
- 11:35Ron Meyers: You are there.
- 11:36Ron Meyers: What that has to be.
- 11:37Ron Meyers: I've never been there yet.
- 11:39Ron Meyers: I I want to be.
- 11:40Ron Meyers: Yes, it's my bucket list.
- 11:43Yasmeen Mazzawi: It's amazing.
- 11:44Yasmeen Mazzawi: I love that.
- 11:45Yasmeen Mazzawi: And I think it's like a privilege to to to be born there and to live there and to walk in the streets where Jesus walks, and it's amazing.
- 11:54Yasmeen Mazzawi: Yeah.
- 11:54Ron Meyers: So you have a booth here, you're part of the is what can we do as citizens of the United States to help you?
- 12:01Ron Meyers: We pray for you all the time.
- 12:03Ron Meyers: We love our friends in Israel.
- 12:05Ron Meyers: What can we do for you, your organization, or for Israel?
- 12:09Yasmeen Mazzawi: Thank you so much, first of all, for the support.
- 12:12Yasmeen Mazzawi: And yeah, we, you know, as I said in the beginning, MGA is based on volunteers.
- 12:18Yasmeen Mazzawi: We are like 90% volunteers and only 10% of employees.
- 12:22Yasmeen Mazzawi: So we're talking about 36,000 approximately of volunteers and 3,500 employees.
- 12:30Yasmeen Mazzawi: So I think the and and the beauty of this is that each one comes from a different background, supporting all Israeli uh citizens and all Israeli communities around the country.
- 12:42Yasmeen Mazzawi: And if the audience would like to hear more about the the work that we do at MDA, can visit our website, saving livesinisrael.org.
- 12:53Ron Meyers: Saving lives inisrael.org.
- 12:57Ron Meyers: Yes.
- 12:57Ron Meyers: You know, I heard something this morning.
- 12:59Ron Meyers: I was at the Prayer for Israel breakfast, beautiful, you spoke, and I was not aware about losing so many ambulances.
- 13:11Ron Meyers: So tell us that story and how Franklin Graham came to the rescue.
- 13:15Yasmeen Mazzawi: Wow, this is a great story because you know, during the war, not only Jews were targeted, you know, all Israeli citizens were targeted.
- 13:26Yasmeen Mazzawi: Many, many people from non-Jewish religion or community were were kidnapped and others uh died, you know.
- 13:35Yasmeen Mazzawi: So also ambulances were targeted.
- 13:38Yasmeen Mazzawi: Like we're talking about people who were coming to save people who were hit.
- 13:42Yasmeen Mazzawi: And we were targeted, ambulances and teams, and we lost so many ambulances and equipment.
- 13:49Ron Meyers: So you're going out to help people, and yet you're in an ambulance that is also a target.
- 13:55Ron Meyers: They want to blow you up.
- 13:57Yasmeen Mazzawi: And then Franklin Graham within days to him and to to his support and to their support that within days they were able to provide the MDA with the vehicles that you know we lost vehicles, and he and and and he said, like he he raised the phone to the CEO and said, Let us know how can we help you.
- 14:21Yasmeen Mazzawi: And they did help us, they supported us a lot during the war, which we are so grateful for.
- 14:28Ron Meyers: You know, the United States, we love Israel, we're allies with Israel.
- 14:33Ron Meyers: And when you're in Israel, I know you probably see some of the TV over here when these college students are protesting on the college campuses.
- 14:43Ron Meyers: What goes through your mind when you see that on the news?
- 14:46Yasmeen Mazzawi: To be honest, that's very sad.
- 14:48Yasmeen Mazzawi: Because, first of all, MDI is not a political organization.
- 14:51Yasmeen Mazzawi: Not at all.
- 14:52Yasmeen Mazzawi: We are built on values.
- 14:54Yasmeen Mazzawi: But it's so sad because I I I see that these people do not give the opportunity for the people who are maybe different than them to talk.
- 15:04Yasmeen Mazzawi: I I usually use an analogy that says, like, two communities maybe have stereotypes about one another, don't know about one another, but they don't communicate.
- 15:14Yasmeen Mazzawi: And we have to break this window made out of glass and make these people communicate.
- 15:20Yasmeen Mazzawi: And that's so sad that we see that these people do not communicate, do not accept the other who are maybe different or have different beliefs, and that's so sad, you know.
- 15:29Ron Meyers: Yeah, we all are created in the image of God.
- 15:32Ron Meyers: Yes, and there's people that hate other people, but they've never even met them.
- 15:37Yasmeen Mazzawi: Exactly.
- 15:38Yasmeen Mazzawi: That's what I was trying to say.
- 15:39Yasmeen Mazzawi: And they've never talked to them.
- 15:40Yasmeen Mazzawi: Exactly, and that's so sad.
- 15:42Yasmeen Mazzawi: Because we're all different, even within the same religion and the same country and the same community.
- 15:47Yasmeen Mazzawi: We're all different, but we have to accept one another.
- 15:50Yasmeen Mazzawi: To I'm not saying to, you know, just to accept, to be willing to communicate, to understand, maybe.
- 15:57Ron Meyers: Yes.
- 15:58Ron Meyers: Agree at disagreeing.
- 15:59Ron Meyers: It's okay if you don't, but let's just talk.
- 16:02Ron Meyers: Let's let's just sit down and talk.
- 16:04Ron Meyers: I mean, we do we definitely do need more of that.
- 16:06Ron Meyers: Well, I want to thank you, Yasmin, for your time.
- 16:09Ron Meyers: Is there anything that you would like to say to the listeners out there?
- 16:14Yasmeen Mazzawi: Well, I'd like to thank everyone for listening and and the support and the love.
- 16:20Yasmeen Mazzawi: And we could feel the support and love.
- 16:22Ron Meyers: Could you yeah?
- 16:22Ron Meyers: I've heard that.
- 16:24Ron Meyers: I've heard that.
- 16:24Yasmeen Mazzawi: Thank you.
- 16:25Ron Meyers: Well, thank you again.
- 16:26Ron Meyers: God bless you.
- 16:27Ron Meyers: Thank you.
- 16:27Yasmeen Mazzawi: God bless you.
- 16:28Ron Meyers: Well, listen, I know you're at your booth.
- 16:30Ron Meyers: Before we go, would you pray for my listeners?
- 16:34Yasmeen Mazzawi: Of course.
- 16:34Yasmeen Mazzawi: My privilege, of course.
- 16:36Yasmeen Mazzawi: Dear Heavenly Father, we pray for your wisdom.
- 16:39Yasmeen Mazzawi: We pray that you be with us during these challenging moments.
- 16:44Yasmeen Mazzawi: And we are sure that it's not only us facing challenges, many of our listeners and audience are facing challenges.
- 16:51Yasmeen Mazzawi: We ask you, our Heavenly Father, to give them the source of light and show them the source of light because we are sure that you have a great, great plan for each and every one of us.
- 17:03Yasmeen Mazzawi: We thank thee for your love and unconditional love and light that you give to us.
- 17:09Yasmeen Mazzawi: And we pray for your wisdom, for your love, and for peace.
- 17:14Yasmeen Mazzawi: And I say this in the name of our of thy son Jesus Christ.
- 17:17Yasmeen Mazzawi: Amen.
- 17:20Ron Meyers: Listening to Yasmin, what struck me the most was not just the danger she faced, it was the peace she carried.
- 17:28Ron Meyers: In a moment when rockets were falling, sirens were sounding, and chaos was unfolding, she kept showing up to save and to serve.
- 17:37Ron Meyers: One call after another, one patient after another.
- 17:41Ron Meyers: And what held her steady was not adrenaline, it was faith.
- 17:45Ron Meyers: Psalm 23.
- 17:46Ron Meyers: The Lord is my shepherd.
- 17:49Ron Meyers: Those words have carried believers through centuries of storms.
- 17:54Ron Meyers: And here is something else that stood out in Yasmin's story.
- 17:58Ron Meyers: Unity.
- 17:59Ron Meyers: In the ambulance, you will find Arabs, Jews, Christians, Muslims, and Druze working side by side, diverse backgrounds, different beliefs, but one mission save lives, serve people, bring hope.
- 18:14Ron Meyers: That is a picture of humanity at its best.
- 18:17Ron Meyers: And Yasmin reminded us that courage is not always loud.
- 18:22Ron Meyers: Sometimes courage looks like simply showing up.
- 18:26Ron Meyers: Sometimes courage looks like the kindness when anger would be easier.
- 18:31Ron Meyers: Sometimes courage looks like faith when fear is trying to take over your thinking.
- 18:38Ron Meyers: And her story reminds us that even when the world feels uncertain, God is still present.
- 18:47Ron Meyers: When I returned, some encouragement and action steps for the upcoming week.

- 20:37Announcer: We gotta be born again, born of the Spirit, and that's by trusting Jesus Christ, turning from our sins, and trusting Jesus.
- 20:42Announcer: How do you get the hell out of your life?
- 20:43Announcer: Oh gosh.
- 20:45Ron Meyers: Jesus.
- 20:45Ron Meyers: Jesus.
- 20:46Ron Meyers: Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.
- 20:47Ron Meyers: My friends, before we go today, let me leave you with this thought.
- 20:54Ron Meyers: Many of you listening right now are living with your own version of faith under fire.
- 20:59Ron Meyers: Maybe your storm is not rockets or sirens.
- 21:03Ron Meyers: Maybe it's uncertainty, stress, loneliness, financial pressure, a difficult decision.
- 21:12Ron Meyers: And fear is whispering in your ear.
- 21:16Ron Meyers: Fear is telling you the worst is coming.
- 21:19Ron Meyers: Fear telling you you are not strong enough.
- 21:23Ron Meyers: Fear telling you to stay in the boat.
- 21:27Ron Meyers: But my friend, remember what fear really is.
- 21:30Ron Meyers: False evidence appearing real.
- 21:33Ron Meyers: Fear paints pictures that God never painted.
- 21:36Ron Meyers: Fear predicts outcomes God never promised.
- 21:40Ron Meyers: And fear keeps people from stepping into the life they were created to live.
- 21:46Ron Meyers: But faith, faith lifts your eyes to Jesus.
- 21:50Ron Meyers: Faith reminds you who is walking on the water with you.
- 21:54Ron Meyers: Faith reminds you who is in control of the storm.
- 21:58Ron Meyers: And remember this.
- 21:59Ron Meyers: You cannot walk on water if you never get out of the boat.
- 22:05Ron Meyers: So here are three simple action steps for this coming week.
- 22:10Ron Meyers: Number one, start your day anchored in truth.
- 22:14Ron Meyers: Before the noise of the world begins, read Psalm 23 for the next week.
- 22:19Ron Meyers: Let those words remind you that God is guiding your steps, even when you can't see the entire path.
- 22:28Ron Meyers: Number two, replace fear with faith.
- 22:32Ron Meyers: When fear enters your mind this week, pause and ask, is this the truth or is this false evidence appearing real?
- 22:43Ron Meyers: Then replace that thought with prayer and meditate and talk to Jesus.
- 22:50Ron Meyers: Number three, take one step out of the boat.
- 22:54Ron Meyers: Do something this week you have been avoiding because of fear.
- 22:59Ron Meyers: Make that phone call, start the idea, have the conversation, take the step because your purpose is not waiting inside the boat, it is waiting in the step of faith.
- 23:11Ron Meyers: My friends, fear does not get the final word.
