- 0:05Speaker 1: What is up everybody? Welcome back to foul Territory.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I'm your guest to host Katie wou here with Eric Kratt.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Josh Reddick, I believe making his hosting debut on the
- 0:15Speaker 1: show as well. Please subscribe for us whatever platform you're on.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Check out all our new fresh merch designs, including some
- 0:22Speaker 1: player license gear. Krats has gotcha at foul Territory shop
- 0:28Speaker 1: dot com, model it shore bombs, Love it guys. Before
- 0:32Speaker 1: we dive into the top story, we got to give
- 0:34Speaker 1: some love to a mister Jacob de Grom, who picked
- 0:37Speaker 1: up his two thousandth career strikeout last night big win
- 0:41Speaker 1: Rangers over the Nationals Titus season high with ten punchies.
- 0:44Speaker 1: He also became the second fastest pitcher in MLB history
- 0:48Speaker 1: to get to that two thousand career strikeout mark, behind
- 0:52Speaker 1: just one Randy Johnson. He did it in two hundred
- 0:54Speaker 1: and sixty two games, de Grom in two seventy two.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Kratsy your thoughts on de Gram's performance.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Last night, I mean career high ten punches, like, I
- 1:04Speaker 3: feel like he's taking advantage of a NAT's team that
- 1:08Speaker 3: can't really hit, and he shut him down, so he
- 1:11Speaker 3: still got it. At a one hundred and three years
- 1:13Speaker 3: old at thirty eight years old to groam doing it.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Congrats Josh, what you got any thoughts on mister de Grom?
- 1:24Speaker 4: Yeah, huge congrats. It's a milestone that not a lot
- 1:27Speaker 4: of people will get to even think about. And this guy,
- 1:29Speaker 4: you know, probably could have done in about six years
- 1:32Speaker 4: prior minus injuries. But you're still a great accomplishment. Keep
- 1:35Speaker 4: your cat. I am proud to say I am not
- 1:37Speaker 4: one of the two thousand, so huge congrats to Jacob.
- 1:42Speaker 1: It's like you knew what I was going to ask you.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I think it's worth noting guys. Jacob de Grom decided
- 1:47Speaker 1: to he didn't want to wave his no trade cause
- 1:49Speaker 1: wanted to stay in Arlington try to win with the Rangers.
- 1:51Speaker 1: So we love to see that once again at big
- 1:54Speaker 1: congratulations for one of the games, the greatest.
- 1:56Speaker 2: On the mound. Speaking of the mound, let's charge a mound.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Let's charge them about.
- 2:05Speaker 2: All right?
- 2:06Speaker 1: We have yet another update in the Katel Marte saga.
- 2:09Speaker 1: It's pretty much been the main storyline all week. D
- 2:13Speaker 1: Backs GM, Mike Hasen, manager Tory Leavello, Katel Marte and
- 2:16Speaker 1: his agent had a productive conversation yesterday, as described by
- 2:21Speaker 1: Mike Hasen, Martes will be shifted to the ten day
- 2:24Speaker 1: il Guys. He is expected to rejoin the Diamondbacks and
- 2:27Speaker 1: once healthy. This is per uh diamondbackspeet reporter Nick Pikoro
- 2:31Speaker 1: does a great job covering that team. The MRI showed
- 2:33Speaker 1: some inflammation of the upper hamstring and the knee. However,
- 2:37Speaker 1: the d Backs president and CEO Derek Hall expects explanations
- 2:41Speaker 1: and apologies from Katel Marte. Josh Reddick, I believe you
- 2:45Speaker 1: have some thoughts about this cool Kotel Marte situation.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, where do we even start with this?
- 2:50Speaker 4: This is this is just bad look, just a bad
- 2:53Speaker 4: look over all. I mean, you ghost your team, you
- 2:55Speaker 4: don't show up and then you don't talk to anybody
- 2:57Speaker 4: for what a couple of days. It just makes you
- 3:00Speaker 4: look bad and it makes your teammates, you know, kind
- 3:02Speaker 4: of rethink the process of how we can view things
- 3:06Speaker 4: and and view you. You know, like you said, it
- 3:09Speaker 4: shows you don't carry about your team, You don't cary
- 3:10Speaker 4: about your teammates. We read all the time how he
- 3:13Speaker 4: and Tory Levello had this great relationship and then you
- 3:15Speaker 4: go to your your manager. So I'm not buying into
- 3:18Speaker 4: that either. So it's just all oro ount bad look
- 3:20Speaker 4: for me. And you talk about distractions in baseball, this
- 3:23Speaker 4: is a huge distraction for everybody, for your teammates, for
- 3:26Speaker 4: your managers, and for your coaching staff, and even running
- 3:29Speaker 4: all the way up to your ownership in front office.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Josh, how about the fact that he he Tory Leavello
- 3:35Speaker 3: came out and was like, there's nothing wrong with this guy.
- 3:38Speaker 3: This guy is a great teammate earlier this year, after
- 3:41Speaker 3: the stuff had happened, after all this stuff, So not
- 3:44Speaker 3: only did they put on the front that I have
- 3:46Speaker 3: a great relationship all that stuff, and they may have
- 3:49Speaker 3: a relationship, a great relationship, I don't know. It feels
- 3:52Speaker 3: like a one way street, which sometimes is a manager
- 3:55Speaker 3: with superstars, it is a one way street. But Josh,
- 3:59Speaker 3: I have to ask you, because you were a gold Glover,
- 4:02Speaker 3: you won a World Series, all this stuff, you were
- 4:05Speaker 3: an upper achalon player, was there ever a time where
- 4:08Speaker 3: you were like.
- 4:11Speaker 5: Just not just not coming to the park today?
- 4:14Speaker 4: No, no, no, I mean this is what I dreamed
- 4:19Speaker 4: of doing every day in my life. I look forward
- 4:22Speaker 4: to going to the ballpark every day, whether it was
- 4:25Speaker 4: you know, coming up with Boston, going to Oakland, going
- 4:27Speaker 4: to you know, even the Dodgers and everywhere. You're in
- 4:30Speaker 4: a big league stadium, getting to play a big league
- 4:32Speaker 4: baseball game every day of your life for your job.
- 4:34Speaker 4: I looked forward to getting up to go to the ballpark.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Whether we had a good chance of winning or losing,
- 4:38Speaker 4: it didn't matter. Man, put me in the lineup. I
- 4:41Speaker 4: get to do this because as we learn, this happens quick,
- 4:45Speaker 4: you're going to turn around in five years and look
- 4:47Speaker 4: back and go, Man, that career happened fast, and I
- 4:50Speaker 4: could wish I could have done so many things differently.
- 4:54Speaker 1: You know, guys, it's one thing if this happened once,
- 4:57Speaker 1: which is bad enough, but this has now become a pattern.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Tell Marty and you're looking I'll start with you, Kratzy.
- 5:02Speaker 1: You're looking at this Dbacks team that's right in the
- 5:05Speaker 1: thick of it. Come September, they're going to be in
- 5:07Speaker 1: the mix for that NL wild card. And you have
- 5:10Speaker 1: to wonder, how is this impacting the clubhouse because we
- 5:13Speaker 1: don't know when Marte is coming back, and this is
- 5:16Speaker 1: a team that needs him. He's one of their best
- 5:17Speaker 1: players in the stretch. Run Krats, what do you think
- 5:20Speaker 1: about the inner workings of this.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Dynamic, there's I feel like I need to like really
- 5:26Speaker 3: concisely make my points. There is no better second baseman
- 5:31Speaker 3: in the game, let alone on the Diamondbacks. I get it,
- 5:35Speaker 3: he's not having a great year, but he can catch
- 5:37Speaker 3: when he is hot. He can carry a team for
- 5:40Speaker 3: a two week stretch that maybe nobody in the league
- 5:45Speaker 3: can carry because he bats from the right side with
- 5:47Speaker 3: power and he bats from the left side with power.
- 5:49Speaker 3: He has speed, so you're not going to replace the
- 5:53Speaker 3: possibility of production. But also all this distraction when he
- 5:58Speaker 3: comes back from this just horrific knee inflammation that he's
- 6:03Speaker 3: dealing with. When he comes back from this, they're going
- 6:06Speaker 3: to look at him and go, we got can tell
- 6:08Speaker 3: Marte back in the lineup whether or they're you're not
- 6:11Speaker 3: gonna sit there in the seventh inning with him up
- 6:13Speaker 3: at the plate and go, man, I can't believe he
- 6:16Speaker 3: didn't show up to the park. You know, there'd be
- 6:19Speaker 3: times when he you know, he makes it out and
- 6:20Speaker 3: you're like, oh right, this guy again. But in the moment,
- 6:24Speaker 3: you're like, we have the one of the best options
- 6:26Speaker 3: year in and year out. This guy is a top
- 6:28Speaker 3: three top five MVP finisher, not candidate finisher in the voting.
- 6:35Speaker 3: So yes, I know he's having a down year, but
- 6:43Speaker 3: better with him in the lineup.
- 6:48Speaker 6: That's right, Josh, there one game back on the wild card.
- 6:53Speaker 6: Like you know I just mentioned, there's how distracting this is.
- 6:56Speaker 6: Like you guys are in a playoff race right now,
- 6:59Speaker 6: and then you throw this on you. We're about to
- 7:00Speaker 6: start September baseball when baseball gets really put under the
- 7:04Speaker 6: magnifying glass, and this is the last thing any of
- 7:07Speaker 6: your teammates, why it should be the last thing that
- 7:09Speaker 6: you want to bring upon your team. And you know,
- 7:12Speaker 6: if you don't care, then then come out and say
- 7:14Speaker 6: that and don't play. Don't just try to hide behind
- 7:16Speaker 6: excuses if that is your case.
- 7:19Speaker 7: Hey, for those of you that are on your phone,
- 7:21Speaker 7: it's very often, or even if you don't use it much,
- 7:24Speaker 7: you should check out your wireless bill and make sure
- 7:26Speaker 7: that it is treating you well. It's summertime. You're feeling good, right,
- 7:29Speaker 7: aj But are you spending too much on your wireless bill?
- 7:33Speaker 7: And should Mintmobile get involved?
- 7:35Speaker 8: Now?
- 7:35Speaker 9: Some of them has two college aged kids got They're
- 7:37Speaker 9: always on their phone, whether it's they're checking their snap,
- 7:40Speaker 9: they're checking their DMS, they're checking their Twitter. I need
- 7:44Speaker 9: fifteen dollars a month because I need unlimited quality coverage
- 7:47Speaker 9: that mintmobile provides.
- 7:48Speaker 7: They get that new wireless plan for just fifteen bucks
- 7:51Speaker 7: a month. Go to mintmobile dot com slash territory. That's
- 7:53Speaker 7: mintmobile dot com slash territory. Cut your wireless bill to
- 7:56Speaker 7: fifteen dollars a month at mintmobile dot com slash territory.
- 7:59Speaker 2: That's it.
- 8:00Speaker 7: No catch up front payment of forty five dollars for
- 8:02Speaker 7: three months, ninety dollars for six months, or one hundred
- 8:04Speaker 7: and eighty dollars for twelve month. Plan required fifteen dollars
- 8:07Speaker 7: per month, equivalent taxes and fees extra initial plan term
- 8:09Speaker 7: only greater than fifty gigabytes, may slow when network is busy.
- 8:12Speaker 7: Includes up to twenty gigabyte hotspot capable device required availability,
- 8:16Speaker 7: speed and coverage varies sement mobile dot com.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Josh, you said distraction, and I think that's the beauty
- 8:22Speaker 3: of why people listen to our show distraction. We've always
- 8:25Speaker 3: had distractions. I feel like the distraction is pregame in
- 8:30Speaker 3: the game.
- 8:31Speaker 5: I don't care if somebody's growing a third arm on
- 8:35Speaker 5: your team.
- 8:36Speaker 3: During the game, I don't feel like it's as much
- 8:39Speaker 3: of a distraction, but pregame, no, how much do you
- 8:42Speaker 3: think it is a distraction because now as teammates have
- 8:45Speaker 3: to answer questions for a guy that they're like, I
- 8:47Speaker 3: don't know, like I'm trying to get ready for the game.
- 8:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, we know how much the media world
- 8:52Speaker 4: loves getting in those questions. So I mean you bring
- 8:55Speaker 4: on on one of you know, media attention for other guys,
- 8:59Speaker 4: you know, for me, if I'm looking at it from
- 9:01Speaker 4: my perspective, like I'm not trying to even hang around
- 9:04Speaker 4: this guy. If that was the case, Like, I don't
- 9:05Speaker 4: want to be around you. You're bringing negative vibes to everything.
- 9:08Speaker 4: I'm not gonna go to the cage at the same
- 9:10Speaker 4: time as you. If you're in the food room, I'll
- 9:11Speaker 4: grab my food and go somewhere else because it just
- 9:14Speaker 4: it creates bad chemistry. And we know what it takes
- 9:16Speaker 4: to win baseball games and win a World Series. It's
- 9:19Speaker 4: not just talent skill. It has to be a good
- 9:21Speaker 4: clubhouse vibe, and I highly doubt that's the case right
- 9:24Speaker 4: now with all this stuff floating around. What it was
- 9:26Speaker 4: like beforehand, I'll have no clue, But just think about
- 9:29Speaker 4: that bad chemistry. It brings from the locker room to
- 9:32Speaker 4: the you know, the batting cages, to the training room
- 9:34Speaker 4: to everywhere. You're looking at this guy and you're going, man,
- 9:37Speaker 4: I can't look at this guy in any way I
- 9:39Speaker 4: used to anymore. So it brings that distracted But you're right,
- 9:41Speaker 4: I think once you get into that baseball game, I
- 9:43Speaker 4: think everything goes out the window.
- 9:45Speaker 3: You played with him for a quick second and twenty
- 9:49Speaker 3: one right at the end of your career, kind of
- 9:51Speaker 3: at the beginning, yep, what was your interaction? How long
- 9:54Speaker 3: did you play with them? Even because I saw you
- 9:56Speaker 3: only had a few at bats.
- 9:58Speaker 4: I think I was probably I think I was around
- 9:59Speaker 4: maybe cl to two months, give or take. Didn't you
- 10:02Speaker 4: really get to know a lot of guys that will
- 10:05Speaker 4: But I mean, you talk about a great player, fantastic
- 10:09Speaker 4: player when he was healthy. Back then, I know he
- 10:10Speaker 4: was having some hamstring issues, so he had a lot
- 10:13Speaker 4: of times where he get those starts and they have
- 10:15Speaker 4: to come out, and you felt bad for the guy.
- 10:16Speaker 4: But I didn't get any really bad vibe swimming back then.
- 10:19Speaker 4: But then again, like I said, I wasn't that close
- 10:21Speaker 4: to him, So I didn't. I definitely didn't see any
- 10:23Speaker 4: of this kind of stuff coming out of a player
- 10:25Speaker 4: like that.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Yeah, you guys, you just have to wonder is this
- 10:31Speaker 1: something that the d Backs clubhouse, when Slash if Marte
- 10:34Speaker 1: comes back, can overcome And you know, in the middle
- 10:36Speaker 1: of September when they expect to be right in it
- 10:38Speaker 1: with the Padres, the Phillies, you know, not even the
- 10:40Speaker 1: Cardinals still kind of hanging around. Can they overcome what
- 10:44Speaker 1: has just become really taken away from the good baseball
- 10:46Speaker 1: they've been playing and what should have been like a
- 10:48Speaker 1: very fun September uh September run for these guys. Again,
- 10:52Speaker 1: just one game out of that wild card picture for
- 10:56Speaker 1: more das content.
- 10:57Speaker 5: Yes, all right again it's the d Back content.
- 11:01Speaker 3: One thing I was thinking about the day he goes
- 11:03Speaker 3: to the team, the day he was just like, I'm
- 11:05Speaker 3: not gonna show up. I don't know if you guys heard,
- 11:07Speaker 3: but Nolan Ernado, I think he was supposed to DH.
- 11:11Speaker 5: Here's where the team aspect comes in.
- 11:14Speaker 3: I think Nolan was dealing with something and they weren't
- 11:18Speaker 3: sure where he was gonna be with it. When guys,
- 11:22Speaker 3: when every day guys check out of the lineup, or
- 11:26Speaker 3: you know, don't want to play, or don't show up
- 11:28Speaker 3: or ghost you you know, in Kutel's case, other guys
- 11:32Speaker 3: like it changes other guys' rhythms and timing and everything.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Nolan Ernado's playing through something, as most players are in August,
- 11:40Speaker 3: playing through something. If he has to play a few
- 11:43Speaker 3: extra games at third base when he was gonna get
- 11:47Speaker 3: a break, get off his feet and dh you know,
- 11:50Speaker 3: if somebody else gets hurt during this time, I'm not
- 11:52Speaker 3: saying you can blame one hundred percent on could tell,
- 11:56Speaker 3: but this is a team sport played by a team,
- 12:00Speaker 3: played by individuals who need to figure out how to
- 12:02Speaker 3: stay healthy all collectively. And when this happens, it's not
- 12:06Speaker 3: just a singular well you know, he's out of the lineup.
- 12:09Speaker 3: It affects other guys. Aeronauto's up there in age, he's
- 12:11Speaker 3: probably one of the.
- 12:13Speaker 5: Leaders on the team.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Is his inability to step into another spot because Catel's
- 12:20Speaker 3: gone and get some breaks. Does that injure him more
- 12:25Speaker 3: for the season.
- 12:25Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 12:26Speaker 3: It's all it's all just possibilities and hypotheticals, but it's
- 12:30Speaker 3: the reality of where you're at in a one hundred
- 12:32Speaker 3: and sixty two game season.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Yeah, CRATSI I think you're spot on there. Go ahead, Josh,
- 12:39Speaker 2: go ahead.
- 12:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I totally get that. I mean you didn't we
- 12:42Speaker 4: didn't even think about that talking about aeronauto in his
- 12:45Speaker 4: his day because he probably went to bed the night
- 12:48Speaker 4: before knowing he had a DHD. And as we know
- 12:51Speaker 4: as former players, that's a completely different mindset from playing
- 12:54Speaker 4: every day on the in the field to DH or
- 12:56Speaker 4: even hid in that day off. You just if you're
- 12:58Speaker 4: half shut down from a d eighth. If you're off,
- 13:01Speaker 4: you mentally and you physically try to shut down the
- 13:03Speaker 4: night before to prepare for that next day. So you
- 13:05Speaker 4: gotta imagine coming to the ballpark and then not even
- 13:08Speaker 4: just knowing hours before the game. He went pretty much
- 13:11Speaker 4: up until game time not knowing whether he would play
- 13:14Speaker 4: or DH or not. So yeah, it changes Aeronaudu's perspective,
- 13:17Speaker 4: and I guarantee it he doesn't appreciate that. He wasn't
- 13:20Speaker 4: very happy. And then it affects somebody else who maybe
- 13:23Speaker 4: had a schedule off there was supposed to play and
- 13:25Speaker 4: now they got a bum rush and get their day
- 13:27Speaker 4: ready and throw things in line for them hopefully to
- 13:30Speaker 4: be ready to play a Major League Baseball game, because,
- 13:32Speaker 4: as we know, routines are a big thing a part
- 13:34Speaker 4: of this game, and if you can't do your full
- 13:36Speaker 4: routine and feel comfortable, you go into that game that
- 13:38Speaker 4: night being absolutely out of whack, so to speak. So yeah,
- 13:42Speaker 4: I'm glad you brought that up, Cratcy, because it changes
- 13:44Speaker 4: not only your whole team, but it changes those individuals
- 13:47Speaker 4: who have to change their whole game day plan.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Guys, I think it's even worse if I remember correctly
- 13:53Speaker 1: that Sunday, the day before this all went down, Arnatto
- 13:56Speaker 1: actually left that game with an intercostal stream and I
- 13:59Speaker 1: covered Nado for a long time out in Saint Louis.
- 14:01Speaker 2: For him to leave a game is a big deal.
- 14:04Speaker 1: But then he gets to Boston with everybody else except
- 14:07Speaker 1: one key player and is back in the lineup there
- 14:10Speaker 1: playing through something you know are not as a gamer.
- 14:12Speaker 2: That's how you stay in the league for as long
- 14:13Speaker 2: as he has.
- 14:14Speaker 1: But all great points as to the ripple effect of
- 14:17Speaker 1: what this does for your team, not just externally with
- 14:20Speaker 1: all the outside noise, but internally as well. All right, guys,
- 14:27Speaker 1: some weirdness. One of the weirder ninth innings we've seen
- 14:29Speaker 1: as of late. Dane Myers thinks the Reds have the
- 14:32Speaker 1: game in the bag. Their Cardinals are down to their
- 14:34Speaker 1: final strike, and Dan Myers drops the ball and Tommy Fam,
- 14:39Speaker 1: the always insightful Tommy Fam chimed in This Twitter user said,
- 14:43Speaker 1: this ball is in left field, not even left center.
- 14:45Speaker 1: What is going on Dane Myers? Tommy Fam said, what
- 14:48Speaker 1: we have going on is centerfielders today who know the
- 14:51Speaker 1: value of stealing catches to help their outs. Above average
- 14:54Speaker 1: numbers go up because it improves your war. So you
- 14:57Speaker 1: have this a game that is lost. Yes, the Reds
- 14:59Speaker 1: did lose ten to nine because the center fielder didn't
- 15:02Speaker 1: want the leftfielder to catch the ball because he wanted
- 15:04Speaker 1: the points.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Josh, your thoughts here are fair or not?
- 15:09Speaker 5: It's Tommy Fam.
- 15:10Speaker 4: I love how outspoken Tommy Fam has always been. Is
- 15:13Speaker 4: that the case here?
- 15:14Speaker 5: Maybe?
- 15:14Speaker 4: Who knows, as an outfielder, you've called off guys probably
- 15:19Speaker 4: a little too soon that the ball gets to drift away,
- 15:23Speaker 4: so it does look bad at times, So maybe that's
- 15:25Speaker 4: what happens here. But I don't know if I can
- 15:28Speaker 4: take Tommy's comments that seriously. If that is the case,
- 15:30Speaker 4: I mean the game on the line. Maybe it's just
- 15:32Speaker 4: a mistake that you make as a baseball player. But
- 15:35Speaker 4: I'm sure that does happen two boost guys, war I mean,
- 15:38Speaker 4: I'm not totally against what he said. Is that what
- 15:40Speaker 4: happened here probably not. Probably just a little bit of
- 15:43Speaker 4: drifting Cincinnati. The ball flies very well, does some unpredictable things.
- 15:47Speaker 4: So just a baseball mistake that somebody made and you
- 15:50Speaker 4: move on from it. Hopefully.
- 15:55Speaker 7: For the families out there looking for a new path

- 16:52Speaker 1: All right, Krassy, we just talked about them on the
- 16:54Speaker 1: last segment. But the Astros down but never out. They're
- 16:58Speaker 1: four and six in their last ten sit at five
- 17:01Speaker 1: hundred sixty four sixty four. Do they have enough to
- 17:05Speaker 1: make a push in this sad, sad American league?
- 17:09Speaker 8: Man?
- 17:09Speaker 3: I think I think their bullpen's obviously gotten healthy with
- 17:12Speaker 3: haters lights out Bryana Bray, who doesn't have to carry
- 17:16Speaker 3: the huge load. Okre down there, King, I know he
- 17:19Speaker 3: gave up a few, but they have that bullpen core
- 17:24Speaker 3: that hopefully is not too tired from carrying a lot
- 17:28Speaker 3: of the load this year from a starting rotation that
- 17:31Speaker 3: to me without without Hunter Brown saying, guys, get on
- 17:36Speaker 3: my back, I'm taking this. I don't know how they
- 17:40Speaker 3: fend off the Mariners, the Rangers, you know, I don't
- 17:45Speaker 3: know how they do it. Except for the fact that
- 17:47Speaker 3: maybe you're done. Between the three intentional walks. He gets
- 17:51Speaker 3: a game, Ken hit a dinger that'll win him these games, like,
- 17:54Speaker 3: this team can hit, So are they going to hit
- 17:56Speaker 3: enough to be able to fend those teams off? I
- 17:59Speaker 3: would say no, So then I'm gonna take the opposite
- 18:01Speaker 3: and say yes, the Ashers are going to win the division.
- 18:04Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what he said.
- 18:05Speaker 2: That's what he said.
- 18:07Speaker 5: That's what he said.
- 18:08Speaker 8: That's what he said.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Now it's time for That's what he said.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Top pitching prospect Kate Anderson is getting called up by
- 18:20Speaker 1: the Mariners.
- 18:21Speaker 2: He will debut on Saturday against the Cubs.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Jeff Passen reports top pitching prospect in baseball, third pick
- 18:29Speaker 1: in the twenty twenty five draft.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Look at the numbers there.
- 18:32Speaker 1: What strikes me is the one hundred and thirty five
- 18:34Speaker 1: punchies and just the thirteen walks. Aaron Jude of the
- 18:38Speaker 1: Seattle Times wrote that Anderson is one of the most
- 18:42Speaker 1: hype prospects in Mariner's history. Again, major league debut on Saturday.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Guys says it right there, he's hearing, he's perfect. Maritors
- 18:50Speaker 1: fans getting excited after a pretty tough week Cratsy, your
- 18:54Speaker 1: thoughts on this big debut coming up?
- 18:58Speaker 3: I mean I joked about it was I mean it
- 19:01Speaker 3: was one of those things like how does he hit?
- 19:03Speaker 3: Like he doesn't hit? You know, so is this gonna
- 19:06Speaker 3: be six inning shut out?
- 19:08Speaker 5: Yeah? I would hope.
- 19:09Speaker 3: You know, this guy comes up to the big leagues
- 19:11Speaker 3: and is everything that he's done in the minor leagues.
- 19:13Speaker 5: He doesn't need to be in the minor leagues. I
- 19:15Speaker 5: know that.
- 19:16Speaker 3: I see that in the numbers. He is supremely dominating.
- 19:21Speaker 3: I think his whip is like a point yeah point six' four.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Whip and some people will, say well it's An arkansas
- 19:28Speaker 3: blah blah. Blah, okay like it's time for him to come,
- 19:31Speaker 3: up and the rotation has stayed healthy so they haven't
- 19:34Speaker 3: needed to rush. This but he's gonna come up and
- 19:37Speaker 3: he's gonna. Help he's gonna help this. Rotation you, know
- 19:40Speaker 3: maybe some guys get pushed, back get a little rest
- 19:43Speaker 3: because they've all made their. Starts but, again The mariners
- 19:47Speaker 3: need to. Hit BUT i will be glued to THE
- 19:49Speaker 3: tv On.
- 19:50Speaker 2: SATURDAY i think that's just what The mariners do.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Right for all of their, problems they know how to develop,
- 19:58Speaker 1: pitching and this is. EXCITING i think we've yet to
- 20:00Speaker 1: really figure out what The mariners are gonna. Do what
- 20:02Speaker 1: this means that they're going to try that six man
- 20:04Speaker 1: rotation hybrid thing. Again, uh there's, well we'll see on On.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Saturday but for, me the thing is is can this
- 20:10Speaker 1: be a jolt for a team, that as we just talked,
- 20:13Speaker 1: about is still somehow in this playoff? Picture, josh what
- 20:16Speaker 1: do you think can can this kind of jolt The
- 20:18Speaker 1: mariners back to being in?
- 20:20Speaker 4: Contention it definitely cannot. HURT i think you're you're providing
- 20:26Speaker 4: an elite pitcher to an already pretty elite pitching staff
- 20:30Speaker 4: with some starts here and there Going Little, haywire but
- 20:33Speaker 4: it all comes back to, Hitting like he can't help
- 20:36Speaker 4: boost the lineup's numbers if if he's only. Pitching so,
- 20:40Speaker 4: yeah he's still gonna he's gonna strike out, Guys he
- 20:42Speaker 4: maybe give up one or no, runs and he's gonna
- 20:44Speaker 4: get a no decision after going six or seven innings
- 20:47Speaker 4: and hopefully in praying that they can win the ball. Game,
- 20:50Speaker 4: obviously you're very happy for the, kid and he's deserving
- 20:53Speaker 4: of every call up that he's, getting so very, deserving
- 20:56Speaker 4: but you got to hit and, hopefully you, know for.
- 20:59Speaker 4: Them but this is hopefully a. Boost it can kind
- 21:01Speaker 4: of boost the whole clubhouse and not Just, ane just
- 21:04Speaker 4: a pitching. Staff but if this lineup's not facing A
- 21:07Speaker 4: Houston astros, team they usually are not hitting very.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Well you've seen them, Play you've seen him face The
- 21:14Speaker 3: astros for. Sure but guess who he's gonna. Face Kate
- 21:17Speaker 3: anderson is gonna come to the big Leagues, saturday and
- 21:20Speaker 3: he's gonna face the leadoff hitter for The Chicago.
- 21:23Speaker 5: CUBS pa the first BATTY.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Vp, yeah the first batter you faces is one of
- 21:31Speaker 3: TWO mvp candidates right, now the, ONE i, mean it's
- 21:34Speaker 3: a it's a two horse. Race nothing else going on
- 21:37Speaker 3: in The National league. There then those two, GUYS i,
- 21:42Speaker 3: mean welcome to the big league's. Moment and you THINK
- 21:45Speaker 3: pca is gonna be like.
- 21:46Speaker 5: Whatever we'll see what we.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Do he's gonna be like, this this guy's walk thirteen,
- 21:51Speaker 3: Guys i'm coming out. Swinging So i'm getting to THE
- 21:55Speaker 3: tv early to watch this. Game let's put it that,
- 21:58Speaker 3: way BECAUSE i do not want to miss the first
- 22:00Speaker 3: pitch of the. Game because if you don't see the first.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Pitch you can't watch the whole, game.
- 22:05Speaker 4: Can't hit the first one if he don't swing it
- 22:07Speaker 4: the first.
- 22:07Speaker 5: One, factual.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Factual it's a good Point cratzy about A pca just
- 22:13Speaker 1: an electric. Season just saw him play In chicago and
- 22:17Speaker 1: as good as advertised per. Usual now on the flip,
- 22:19Speaker 1: SIDE ms, fans we're gonna do you a. Solid we're
- 22:21Speaker 1: just not going to talk about the twenty two to
- 22:23Speaker 1: nothing ball, game but we are going to talk about
- 22:24Speaker 1: something that happened a few days. Ago Cole emerson on the,
- 22:28Speaker 1: il on the injured list with some wrist, soreness And
- 22:33Speaker 1: mariner say he didn't really disclose that in. Depth would
- 22:36Speaker 1: have liked a little bit more information on. That you,
- 22:39Speaker 1: know it's a learning. Curve he's a rookie coming, up
- 22:41Speaker 1: a lot of a lot of looks and eyes on
- 22:44Speaker 1: him coming up as one of the best prospects in the.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Organization so we talked To Jerry, depoto talked to The Seattle,
- 22:50Speaker 1: times the president based operations for The, mariners SAID i
- 22:53Speaker 1: wish That emerson would have been a little more. Upfront
- 22:57Speaker 1: if it was bothering him that, much he should have
- 22:59Speaker 1: said SOME ft RESIDENT Gm Jim, bowden also The athletic
- 23:04Speaker 1: had strong thoughts On mariners rookie not disclosing his injury
- 23:08Speaker 1: with the team until after they have optioned. Him now
- 23:10Speaker 1: he's again on the injured. LIST i know we have
- 23:12Speaker 1: some thoughts. Here let's see What jim had to.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Say.
- 23:14Speaker 5: First, well let's talk about what.
- 23:16Speaker 10: Happened, right Cold emerson wasn't producing right and he was
- 23:20Speaker 10: optioned to the minor, leagues you, know to get. Going
- 23:24Speaker 10: and then after he was, optioned he said he was
- 23:26Speaker 10: hurt and had to go.
- 23:27Speaker 5: On the injury.
- 23:27Speaker 10: List wait What, Yeah, wait if you're hurt and have
- 23:30Speaker 10: to go on the injury, list then you do it
- 23:32Speaker 10: at the major league, level not after you're. Optioned if
- 23:34Speaker 10: you've been hurting this, long they would have put you
- 23:37Speaker 10: on THE il and it would have explained why you're
- 23:39Speaker 10: not hitting up the. Expectations so this is on the,
- 23:42Speaker 10: player and, look this is a learning. EXPERIENCE i went
- 23:45Speaker 10: through this a lot a lot of pitchers too over the.
- 23:48Speaker 10: Years you, know their arm would be, barking their, shoulder the,
- 23:50Speaker 10: elbow and they don't tell, anybody and they don't tell
- 23:53Speaker 10: anybody because they don't want to get optioned. Out they
- 23:55Speaker 10: don't tell anybody because they want to stay in the big.
- 23:57Speaker 10: Leagues they want to ride the private jets to stay
- 24:00Speaker 10: in the sweets and the nicest Rich carlton's in fourth
- 24:03Speaker 10: seasons in this.
- 24:04Speaker 5: COUNTRY i understand.
- 24:06Speaker 10: That but for your, career you've got to be honest
- 24:09Speaker 10: with the, team and if you're, hurt we gotta fix.
- 24:12Speaker 10: You you can't sit there and hide the injury and
- 24:14Speaker 10: then your option. Out oh by the, Way i'm, hurt
- 24:16Speaker 10: and you know now put me on the. Il you know.
- 24:19Speaker 10: It just it does create at times bad blood because
- 24:23Speaker 10: now the team kind of feels, like, well CAN i trust?
- 24:25Speaker 10: YOU i, mean and it's kind of a selfish move
- 24:28Speaker 10: too to be honest in those. Situations So i'm Glad
- 24:31Speaker 10: Jerry depoto came out and, said of publicly and for
- 24:33Speaker 10: Cold emerson and all young, players let this be a learning.
- 24:36Speaker 10: Experience if you're, hurt let the big league team take
- 24:39Speaker 10: care of, you fix, you hear, you and keep. Going
- 24:43Speaker 10: Cold emerson's going to be a great, Player there's no
- 24:46Speaker 10: doubt about. It but he should have been more honest
- 24:48Speaker 10: with the team about his wrist and not do it
- 24:51Speaker 10: after he was sent.
- 24:52Speaker 5: Out that's not.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Good we have.

- 25:51Speaker 7: f OU. L, YEAH i mean this is a fifty
- 25:57Speaker 7: to fifty fence for me because we've been, there, right former,
- 26:01Speaker 7: players we've been.
- 26:02Speaker 4: There if we were young and we were brought with
- 26:03Speaker 4: something was, barking we played through. It we tried to
- 26:06Speaker 4: self self medicate so as we was self kind of
- 26:10Speaker 4: rehab ourselves to make sure we could stay in the big,
- 26:12Speaker 4: leagues because, yeah you want to be in the show
- 26:14Speaker 4: and you want to be up there and play every.
- 26:15Speaker 4: Day but, yes at the same, time you've got to
- 26:18Speaker 4: let them know because they're the best at what they,
- 26:20Speaker 4: do and if they can get you, right then they're
- 26:22Speaker 4: gonna do everything they can to get you, right because,
- 26:24Speaker 4: yeah you want to play now and you want to win,
- 26:26Speaker 4: now but you know this is not something you want
- 26:29Speaker 4: bothering you in the next three to five years or
- 26:31Speaker 4: your whole career and then once you're done playing as.
- 26:33Speaker 4: Well so you got to you got to kind of
- 26:35Speaker 4: pick your poison. There take when you, can take your
- 26:37Speaker 4: chance off when you can to get, right and don't
- 26:39Speaker 4: come back until you are. Right don't try this comeback early,
- 26:42Speaker 4: stuff because you're only going to risk that chance of
- 26:45Speaker 4: getting hurt even more and missing more.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Time, anyway all, Right, first Cold EMERSON i asked one
- 26:51Speaker 3: of his teammates down In tacoma what he's. Like and
- 26:54Speaker 3: the guy had THAT i, asked had played, with had
- 26:58Speaker 3: played With Chase, utley and he, said this is a
- 27:02Speaker 3: really really unfair comp but he said he attacks the
- 27:05Speaker 3: game Like Chase. SUTLEY i Know Chase sutley played through
- 27:08Speaker 3: plenty of, injuries whatever people think Of Chase, sutley so
- 27:12Speaker 3: it's very similar that. Mindset AND i could only go
- 27:15Speaker 3: by my. EXPERIENCE i was forty years old in my
- 27:18Speaker 3: last season AND i got called up during THE covid
- 27:21Speaker 3: season as a fill. In if anybody understands what the
- 27:25Speaker 3: fill in, was go back and look at THE covid.
- 27:27Speaker 3: SEASON i was running sprints in the outfield or just.
- 27:29Speaker 3: Running it wasn't really, fast so it couldn't be classified
- 27:32Speaker 3: as a. Sprint AND i tweaked my hamstring BEFORE i
- 27:36Speaker 3: was even. Activated BUT i was in the big leagues
- 27:38Speaker 3: in case something, happened in case somebody's POSITIVE covid test came,
- 27:42Speaker 3: back AND i didn't tell, Anybody and then somebody went
- 27:47Speaker 3: on THE il with a hamstring, strain and guess who
- 27:51Speaker 3: had to catch the very next game when we were
- 27:53Speaker 3: down In tampa and guess who hit a ball off
- 27:56Speaker 3: the right field wall and had to leg out a?
- 27:57Speaker 3: Double this, Guy AND i wasn't gonna tell, anybody SO
- 28:01Speaker 3: i limped through the. Game nobody could really. TELL i
- 28:05Speaker 3: got treatment, afterwards and THEN i sat in my normal
- 28:07Speaker 3: four to five days while El gary caught and THEN
- 28:11Speaker 3: i healed. Up so there's plenty of times that you're
- 28:15Speaker 3: on the, cusp you're on the fringe Your TRIPLE a big,
- 28:17Speaker 3: League TRIPLE a big, league you're struggling in the big,
- 28:20Speaker 3: leagues and you don't tell. Anybody AND i disagree With
- 28:23Speaker 3: jim here except for he should have told him and
- 28:26Speaker 3: they could have helped him rehab. Faster but, again at,
- 28:30Speaker 3: TWENTY i made the same mistake at. Forty it worked
- 28:33Speaker 3: out for, me it wasn't working out For.
- 28:35Speaker 4: Cole the cold tub does fantastic. Things get in it
- 28:40Speaker 4: every day after the, game. Everybody it sucks every, time
- 28:44Speaker 4: but get in. It it is a career.
- 28:46Speaker 5: Saver but did you do it at?
- 28:48Speaker 3: TWENTY i, MEAN, jj you Like, josh you were like you,
- 28:51Speaker 3: were you were a. GUY i wasn't to them the
- 28:54Speaker 3: big leagues souse, thirty SO i learned that. Stuff but at,
- 28:57Speaker 3: twenty no Chance i'd show up at the parking vill
- 29:00Speaker 3: what do we.
- 29:00Speaker 4: DO i didn't debut at. TWENTY i debuted at twenty,
- 29:04Speaker 4: two SO i was IF i had a debuted at,
- 29:05Speaker 4: TWENTY i would have known what to. Do but, YEAH
- 29:08Speaker 4: i mean at twenty, TWO i was doing it every.
- 29:10Speaker 4: Day but you're, right at TWENTY i was in the.
- 29:11Speaker 4: MINERS i can still roll out of bed and go
- 29:14Speaker 4: catch a flave on the, gap SO i understand that
- 29:17Speaker 4: too at. Twenty at twenty you feel like you can heal.
- 29:19Speaker 4: Overnight but at the same, time you know that's on.
- 29:23Speaker 4: Him if he doesn't want to tell the trainers and the.
- 29:25Speaker 4: Staff there's got to be a teammate on, there a
- 29:27Speaker 4: leader that can step up and be, like, hey something bothering,
- 29:30Speaker 4: you something ailing, You LIKE i can help you behind the,
- 29:32Speaker 4: curtain you, know like there's ways to do this thing
- 29:35Speaker 4: in your own hotel. Room there's stuff you can get
- 29:37Speaker 4: to make yourself get better and maybe not one hundred,
- 29:40Speaker 4: percent but tolerate yourself to get back to Say, okay
- 29:42Speaker 4: NOW i need the. TREATMENT i need to be on
- 29:44Speaker 4: THE dl or THE. Il, sorry.
- 29:48Speaker 2: It's a learning. Opportunity at the end of the, day
- 29:50Speaker 2: he's twenty years.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Old this is certainly not the last time we're going
- 29:53Speaker 1: to See Colt emerson learn from, it move. On he's
- 29:55Speaker 1: too good of a talent to let this be the
- 29:58Speaker 1: defining moment of his. Career guess, what, guys Mlbon fox

- 30:28Speaker 1: For Aaron, Boone yankees manager told reporters That Aaron judge
- 30:33Speaker 1: has started hitting off the tee progression for The. Yankees,
- 30:37Speaker 1: Slugger This Al east is a. Mess, Cratsy who do
- 30:42Speaker 1: you think has the upper? Edge and can The yankees
- 30:45Speaker 1: with or Without Aaron judge hold it off in this?
- 30:48Speaker 3: DIVISION i, MEAN i THINK i think the way The
- 30:52Speaker 3: yankees need to get, HEALTHY i think The.
- 30:54Speaker 5: Rays this is The rays.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Division BUT i honestly believe that The yankee may be
- 31:00Speaker 3: a better playoff team because of that three or four
- 31:04Speaker 3: headed monster that they could have in the. PLAYOFFS i,
- 31:07Speaker 3: mean when you can Go schlitler Call freed most, likely
- 31:12Speaker 3: if Not Carlos rodon if, not like that is a
- 31:17Speaker 3: that is formidable in the. Playoffs BUT i think with the,
- 31:19Speaker 3: INJURIES i think The rays take this division and then
- 31:23Speaker 3: The yankees have to go into a short series with
- 31:26Speaker 3: just an, incredible incredible starting.
- 31:29Speaker 9: Rotation See gek is the official ticket marketplace For Major League,
- 31:33Speaker 9: baseball and anytime.
- 31:34Speaker 5: You want to go to a, game you should go To.

- 33:18Speaker 1: not for lack of effort on his. Part all three
- 33:20Speaker 1: of his starts have been pretty. Good But Tarek scouble
- 33:23Speaker 1: is not a pitcher who is going to satisfy himself
- 33:26Speaker 1: by being pretty.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Good he wants to be.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Great so we're still looking to see that Big Schooble
- 33:30Speaker 1: dodger debut where he looks like the butcher that The

- 34:27Speaker 3: for that first start in the.
- 34:28Speaker 4: Playoffs, bingo, bengo, bongo you hit the nail on the.
- 34:35Speaker 4: Head i'm taking that every. Time The dodgers haven't been
- 34:39Speaker 4: Playing dodger, baseball but they're still going to score plenty
- 34:43Speaker 4: of runs to give To scooble everything he needs to
- 34:45Speaker 4: beat The pirates team that can struggle a lot more
- 34:48Speaker 4: than they, can so that that's an easy pick for.
- 34:50Speaker 4: Me Jared, jones great, pitcher going to be a good
- 34:53Speaker 4: name and a big name in baseball for a. While

- 35:50Speaker 1: Too we got a, Lot we got a lot up, Here, Cubs,
- 35:56Speaker 1: Mariners we Have, Giants Red sox On fox as.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Well giants not what you. Want been one of.
- 36:03Speaker 1: The more disappointing seasons For San Francisco boston five game losing,
- 36:09Speaker 1: streak but they won four of their last seven. Sins
- 36:12Speaker 1: that that's going to be on seven fifteen On fox as.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Well we also have The nationals and The, Marlins Uri perez,
- 36:20Speaker 1: First Jake Irvin. Miami maybe we should be talking about,
- 36:24Speaker 1: them but maybe. Not they're four games back of The
- 36:27Speaker 1: padres from the wildcard. Spot, granted this is not The American,
- 36:30Speaker 1: league SO i feel like there's a, clear definitive line
- 36:33Speaker 1: after The cardinals where we can just kind of say
- 36:36Speaker 1: that's where the wild card race. Ends BUT i Like miami's,
- 36:40Speaker 1: pitching AND i think if they didn't have that god
- 36:41Speaker 1: awful losing streak heading right before the trade, deadline.
- 36:44Speaker 2: They might have been a little bit more active at the.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Deadline but for the first time in a long, time
- 36:48Speaker 1: looking at The marlins and The, nationals you're seeing some,
- 36:51Speaker 1: young up and up and coming. Talent, josh do you
- 36:54Speaker 1: feel like there's hope for both of these fan bases
- 36:56Speaker 1: going forward heading into next?
- 36:58Speaker 5: Year, oh.
- 37:00Speaker 4: Definitely if you're looking past what this season has already
- 37:02Speaker 4: been brought to, YOU i think you can look very
- 37:04Speaker 4: positively toward the future for these ball clubs because they're
- 37:07Speaker 4: right on that cusp of being, really really. Good like you,
- 37:10Speaker 4: said The marlins go through that, horrific horrific losing streak
- 37:13Speaker 4: that changes everything about the trade, deadline could make them
- 37:16Speaker 4: that much more of a. Contender but, yeah it gives
- 37:18Speaker 4: you plenty of positives because you look forward at these
- 37:20Speaker 4: guys and what they're going to be able to, do
- 37:23Speaker 4: and The National, league like we talked about, earlier is
- 37:25Speaker 4: so good that they are going to be in contention
- 37:28Speaker 4: in that excuse me Not American. League we talked so
- 37:30Speaker 4: much about that That National League east and have all
- 37:32Speaker 4: the opportunities to be at the top of that board
- 37:35Speaker 4: in years to.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Come, impasciatic you got one.
- 37:39Speaker 3: MORE i got one question for, You, josh AND i
- 37:42Speaker 3: don't hear very often we talk about two teams are
- 37:44Speaker 3: playing each. Other miami has developed incredible. Pitching they're. Hitting it's,
- 37:49Speaker 3: fine but you know they've they've kind of brought that
- 37:52Speaker 3: in from other. Organizations The nats have developed their hitting
- 37:56Speaker 3: this year with under the new, regime developed their. Hitting
- 38:00Speaker 3: which would you rather have to start and springboard yourself
- 38:06Speaker 3: into the next phase of a winning? Organization because they're
- 38:10Speaker 3: facing each. Other There's saturday On fox.
- 38:12Speaker 4: One so If i'm PLAYING, gm where am what AM?
- 38:15Speaker 4: I what AM? I what AM i?
- 38:16Speaker 5: Picking which team are you taking or which way are you?
- 38:20Speaker 5: Taking i'm taking the?
- 38:24Speaker 4: Pitching, okay pitching Can pitching can get me a long,
- 38:27Speaker 4: way AND i CAN i can get hitting from from
- 38:30Speaker 4: already developed guys that are already in trades or free agent.
- 38:34Speaker 4: SIGNINGS i THINK i can build a lot better team
- 38:36Speaker 4: around pitching THAN i can hitting.
- 38:38Speaker 5: GOOD i like. It you've seen. It you've seen a.
- 38:40Speaker 3: DEVELOPMENT i, mean you've played on organizations that developed and
