- 2:35Speaker 1: So everything you can, everything you do helps us to
- 2:37Speaker 1: get there, and so thank you in Banks or do
- 2:44Speaker 1: you have any takeaways for this tragedy episode about the Browns.
- 2:51Speaker 2: You know, I just think it's funny that Cody's like
- 2:53Speaker 2: I love classical music, and my favorite piece of classical music,
- 2:58Speaker 2: oh did Pocabo's Canon?
- 3:01Speaker 1: Indeed, just like probably the only piece you've ever heard though.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Right right, I'm just laughing about it. I was a
- 3:08Speaker 2: band kid, so I'm just like.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Leg I mean, it's a pretty song, but it's so basic. Yeah,
- 3:15Speaker 1: it's very basic, but the most basic. Cody's basic. Cody
- 3:19Speaker 1: is basic.
- 3:20Speaker 2: But he thinks he's so profound. That's what I'm saying.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Like classical music, I love Paco's Canale.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Very refined it is, it's dumb. My takeaway is that
- 3:31Speaker 1: I just I don't know, I was shape shifting into
- 3:34Speaker 1: the life of Janelle Cody's mom, like living out on
- 3:38Speaker 1: that ranch after Winn has passed, living with Cheryl, the
- 3:43Speaker 1: other sister wife, and I think there's a third sister wife,
- 3:45Speaker 1: Like I don't know the lore around that there might
- 3:47Speaker 1: be a third sister wife on the ranch. Yeah, but
- 3:49Speaker 1: just like these older women, Janelle's in her seventies. Yeah,
- 3:54Speaker 1: living in this house shack.
- 3:57Speaker 2: It looks like a shack.
- 3:58Speaker 1: It's kind of like a shack.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of a shack.
- 4:01Speaker 1: And I just felt really bad for her, Yeah, and
- 4:05Speaker 1: really sad for her because, as we will discuss, she's
- 4:08Speaker 1: lost not only her husband of fifty years, but her
- 4:11Speaker 1: son Curtis. Yeah, so sad from a motorcycle accident. And
- 4:15Speaker 1: it's just been a summer of tragedy. And there's Janelle
- 4:18Speaker 1: just up in Wyoming living in that shack. And I
- 4:21Speaker 1: just felt bad. I just I did. I felt bad.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel bad for her too.
- 4:25Speaker 1: And she's still alive.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I think she's passed now.
- 4:29Speaker 1: I don't know if she has. I know Cheryl has.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I know that Janelle went to Cheryl's funeral during COVID,
- 4:36Speaker 1: that was the whole thing. I think Cody went too
- 4:39Speaker 1: as well. But she is still I wonder if Janelle
- 4:42Speaker 1: is still alive because in this episode passed she was
- 4:45Speaker 1: seventy one, and so I think this was filmed around
- 4:48Speaker 1: twenty fourteen. I think, so she'd be like eighty two,
- 4:52Speaker 1: eighty three. It's possible she's.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Still up in Wyoming by herself.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Tody's shack in a new McMansion in flat Staff with
- 5:01Speaker 1: his whole ass fourth wife.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Yeah, he don't give a crap about his mom.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Well, I kind of felt like he did in this episode.
- 5:06Speaker 1: We'll get to it. We'll get to it anyway. I'm
- 5:08Speaker 1: just saying I'm registering that I'm worried about you. Yeah, okay,
- 5:12Speaker 1: I feel you, all right. So, without any further ado,
- 5:15Speaker 1: let's get into our recap of Sister Wive season six,
- 5:19Speaker 1: episode seventeen and titled Tragedy in the Family. Yeah, last
- 5:25Speaker 1: episode we had poor Truly with a cross eyes and
- 5:30Speaker 1: doubled over on the floor in the kitchen. We saw
- 5:32Speaker 1: the pictures of her in that hospital bed with her
- 5:35Speaker 1: swollen face. I felt so bad. I was looking forward
- 5:38Speaker 1: to some levity. Yep, no to some party people.
- 5:41Speaker 2: We're not getting any.
- 5:42Speaker 1: We are not getting that. No, we'll start us off.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Well, we start off the episode with this like dumb
- 5:47Speaker 2: segment about like everybody worrying it's forty six days away
- 5:51Speaker 2: until their commitment ceremony. That's gonna be such a big deal.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I can't wait. I'm so excited counting down the dates.
- 5:59Speaker 2: They still haven't finished their mission statement because.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Nobody cares at least of all the children, least of
- 6:05Speaker 1: all the children.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Nobody gives a shit. And then they haven't finished any
- 6:08Speaker 2: of the back backyard decorations, because this is gonna be
- 6:12Speaker 2: in their backyard of gravel in the cul de sac.
- 6:14Speaker 1: A veritable moonscape. You're on the surface of the moon.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Yeah, and they haven't decorated or done anything. They meet
- 6:21Speaker 2: with some lady named Brie who's like the event planner
- 6:25Speaker 2: or whatever, and it's.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Your weird husband, I know, just in the background, just.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Like standing there.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Okay, husband, it's bizarre.
- 6:33Speaker 2: And she's like, yeah, I've totally done celebrations like this before,
- 6:37Speaker 2: Like it's gonna be totally fine, Like we'll we'll make
- 6:40Speaker 2: it work. But I'm like, I don't know if you're
- 6:42Speaker 2: gonna make it work. I don't know if you're gonna
- 6:44Speaker 2: do it.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I think they rustle up some sort of a commitment
- 6:46Speaker 1: ceremony they do. It's gonna happen, but I don't think
- 6:48Speaker 1: it's gonna be like posh, no and wonderful.
- 6:51Speaker 2: It's gonna be booty, yes, because Cody wants a string
- 6:54Speaker 2: quartet playing buck bells can indeed, just like this is
- 6:58Speaker 2: so stupid. It's so like fancy, yeah, beautiful and elegant,
- 7:04Speaker 2: and I'm just like, well.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Now I have to ask you, like, what's your favorite
- 7:07Speaker 1: classical piece of music?
- 7:09Speaker 2: Box Cello sweet number one?
- 7:11Speaker 1: Oh my god?
- 7:12Speaker 2: Do you pray with that? Yeah?
- 7:13Speaker 1: Wow?
- 7:14Speaker 2: And then second one is Moonlight Sonata?
- 7:16Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yes, okay, yeah, my favorite bit of classical
- 7:20Speaker 1: music is Vivaldi. The Four Seasons? Is that that great?
- 7:22Speaker 2: No?
- 7:23Speaker 1: I can't take it to every season and I feel
- 7:26Speaker 1: every single beautiful. I love us a little mom.
- 7:29Speaker 2: That's a great one.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you, love Bach as well?
- 7:32Speaker 2: Yes, back is great? Yeah, okay, yeah right, And I'm
- 7:34Speaker 2: not hating on Pokwell, I just think it's such a.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Basic fucking and it's very wedding codd, which you hear
- 7:42Speaker 1: the wives on the couch talking about, like, well, do
- 7:45Speaker 1: we really want to give the appearance of a wedding
- 7:48Speaker 1: or like nuptials or like we're marrying each other. That's
- 7:50Speaker 1: not what this is about. Yeah, we're really just here
- 7:53Speaker 1: to recommit ourselves to this falling apart, broke ass family
- 7:57Speaker 1: and all our kids who hate us. So is there
- 7:59Speaker 1: another song we might be able to play?
- 8:01Speaker 2: And Cody's like, no, it's my party. So we're gonna
- 8:04Speaker 2: play my favorite classical song.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Maybe break Shit my olymp biscuit would be better. I
- 8:08Speaker 1: don't know, that's what I do.
- 8:09Speaker 2: That would have been lit. Yeah, but no, we're gonna
- 8:12Speaker 2: play PoCA Bell's con No. That was fine. And then
- 8:14Speaker 2: they want to plant a tree because you know, the
- 8:16Speaker 2: whole theme of this commitment ceremony is the trail life.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Because we have a family tree, and like we're all
- 8:22Speaker 2: like brunches and leaves and stuff.
- 8:24Speaker 1: And we just arrived at the Culd de Sac and
- 8:26Speaker 1: we're gonna put our roots down here because this is
- 8:29Speaker 1: where our home is. We're together finally. Yeah, in the
- 8:33Speaker 1: could sack homes right next to each other. We can
- 8:36Speaker 1: build here, we can be architects and manifest. Meanwhile, four
- 8:41Speaker 1: years later, Yeah, you're picking up all of your steaks,
- 8:45Speaker 1: all your kids, and you're moving to flag Staff. It's wild.
- 8:48Speaker 1: I mean, you've got a time capsule in the ground,
- 8:50Speaker 1: you got an oak tree, you got Robin's backyard that
- 8:53Speaker 1: was renovated for the purposes of the celebration. We'll go
- 8:56Speaker 1: to them.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Well, and Mary's web bar and Lea, you're just gonna
- 9:00Speaker 2: leave four years later, Well, because the interest is due
- 9:03Speaker 2: or the payments are due to the ball. Yeah, and
- 9:06Speaker 2: so they gotta leave. Yeah. I would be so fucking
- 9:10Speaker 2: bitter if I was these kids, because you know, looking
- 9:13Speaker 2: at this in these past seasons, I'm like, you really
- 9:15Speaker 2: do have it made. You have the cul de sac.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Everybody's got their houses that were presumably their dream houses,
- 9:21Speaker 2: and like everybody seems to be settling in, Like the
- 9:24Speaker 2: kids are all in school, like they're making friends, they're
- 9:27Speaker 2: adjusting to Vegas life, and then you just fucking leave
- 9:30Speaker 2: because of dating and going to fucking nau and fly.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Snaff yes and the balls. Yeah.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just ridiculous.
- 9:39Speaker 1: They're going to have to pay it, yeah, one way
- 9:41Speaker 1: or another.
- 9:43Speaker 2: And then we have some weird segment where we're meeting
- 9:45Speaker 2: with a contractor and I think.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Mark from Living Waters he's a Living Waters and care
- 9:53Speaker 1: landscaper guy.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Is this for the commitment ceremony?
- 9:56Speaker 1: He's for the commitment ceremony? He is there to install
- 9:59Speaker 1: like landscape features for the party in Robin's backyard, which
- 10:04Speaker 1: they continually refer to as our backyard. Okay, we're going
- 10:07Speaker 1: to be having to renovate our backyard. But I do
- 10:10Speaker 1: believe it's actually Robin that benefits from this renovation. And
- 10:14Speaker 1: so she's going to get all this installed landscaping, water
- 10:18Speaker 1: features and green features or whatever you call them. And
- 10:21Speaker 1: Mark's here to just check it out. But of course
- 10:24Speaker 1: he's got to learn that he's dealing with a bunch
- 10:27Speaker 1: of polygamists. I don't feel like he needed to know that,
- 10:31Speaker 1: but of course we've got to proclaim that and declare that.
- 10:33Speaker 1: And so then we have the obligatory scene with Mark
- 10:37Speaker 1: by his truck saying something like, well, yeah, I mean,
- 10:41Speaker 1: I didn't know they were polygamists. They seem like nice people,
- 10:44Speaker 1: but I'm a Christian, yeah, and and I don't know.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I'm sure, like when we all die, we're going to
- 10:51Speaker 1: get to heaven, but I'm just not sure about them
- 10:54Speaker 1: with that one sin of polygamy. And I was just like, Mark,
- 10:56Speaker 1: shut up. Stf you with their big ass mouths and
- 11:01Speaker 1: concerned always about somebody else's sin. Think about your stuff.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Look at the log in your own eyes.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Straight up.
- 11:08Speaker 1: God, it couldn't stand Mark.
- 11:10Speaker 2: I'm so tired of that too, Like I'm so tired
- 11:12Speaker 2: of like love my neighbor, but like I'm judging your
- 11:14Speaker 2: sin though. Yeah, my gosh, shut up.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Love the sinner, but hate the sin. Just take care
- 11:19Speaker 1: of your own house. Thanks straight. I can't stand it.
- 11:22Speaker 1: I can't and I'm a Christian. Yeah, I'm talking about
- 11:25Speaker 1: my old people.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Yeah, it's so annoying. And I'm just like, I'm so
- 11:28Speaker 2: tired of interviewing random people in the city of Las Vegas,
- 11:33Speaker 2: right and saying, did you know that these people are polygamists?
- 11:37Speaker 1: What do you think about polygamy? Polygamous? I've never met
- 11:40Speaker 1: a polygamist. They seem so normal. I really enjoyed their company. Okay,
- 11:46Speaker 1: every other episode, every single same thing.
- 11:50Speaker 2: It's the same script too, because you know, TLC is
- 11:52Speaker 2: telling them to say that. They tell say that they're nice,
- 11:55Speaker 2: wholesome people, because that's what we're trying to advertise. And
- 11:58Speaker 2: it's like, you know, they aren't like awful. I mean,
- 12:01Speaker 2: the og wives, they're not awful, you know, but like
- 12:05Speaker 2: they're just normal people.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Having a business interaction. And afterwards they all meet in
- 12:11Speaker 1: somebody's living room it's probably Robin's, and they're talking about
- 12:14Speaker 1: everything and they're not discussing religion. And then we have
- 12:17Speaker 1: the scene on the couch with the adults and they're
- 12:21Speaker 1: talking about, oh, I didn't really know that Mark even
- 12:24Speaker 1: commented about our polygamy because it never even came up
- 12:27Speaker 1: in the conversation. We're just doing business with other people
- 12:30Speaker 1: of integrity, and that's the way that it should be.
- 12:32Speaker 1: And then Robin says something like, I mean, I hadn't
- 12:35Speaker 1: known it at the time. I mean, if I had
- 12:37Speaker 1: known that he said something like that at the time,
- 12:39Speaker 1: and then here comes her job. But I had known
- 12:42Speaker 1: so hard it said something about us in polygamy. I
- 12:46Speaker 1: wouldn't have liked that.
- 12:47Speaker 2: I wouldn't have liked that at all, not at all.
- 12:48Speaker 2: And then Cody says something stupid like he gets upset
- 12:51Speaker 2: because they've been hiding polygamy for so long?
- 12:53Speaker 1: What on National TV sixth season of Sister Wow, they're
- 12:58Speaker 1: still an hiding.
- 13:00Speaker 2: They had to run away from Utah.
- 13:02Speaker 1: We've for the law, other shows on TLC dealing with
- 13:05Speaker 1: Mormons and getting away from the like, everybody understands that
- 13:10Speaker 1: you're a polygamist.
- 13:11Speaker 2: But he wants to let it shine. This is his chance.
- 13:14Speaker 1: That's why we're having this commitment ceremony, so we can
- 13:17Speaker 1: just come out and let everybody know we're prouled to
- 13:20Speaker 1: be polygamists. It's so yeah, I got that season one, honey,
- 13:24Speaker 1: we understand, we get it.
- 13:26Speaker 2: But then flash forward to season nineteen and now you're
- 13:29Speaker 2: I'm a monogamous. Yeah, I'm a promenade.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I don't believe.
- 13:32Speaker 2: I don't believe in it.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Are sorry if I led you with stray?
- 13:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's crazy to me. And then we take a
- 13:38Speaker 2: trip to Wyoming, and this is where we learn that
- 13:41Speaker 2: the family has experienced two tragedies in like the last
- 13:45Speaker 2: couple months. We had Curtis, Cody's brother, who died in
- 13:49Speaker 2: a tragic motorcycle accident, leaving behind his wife and kids.
- 13:53Speaker 2: And then we have wind Brown, Cody's papa, who died
- 13:57Speaker 2: of natural causes. I guess he had a stroke or something.
- 14:01Speaker 2: And the family is reeling from this double death. And
- 14:05Speaker 2: so they're going to travel to Wyoming to I think,
- 14:09Speaker 2: like go to the funerals.
- 14:11Speaker 1: It's not funerals. The funerals have already taken place. They're
- 14:14Speaker 1: literally filming content. That's kind of what's day about this
- 14:18Speaker 1: is that they've already had the funeral for Curtis and
- 14:21Speaker 1: when and they talk about the horses and what happened after, right, Yeah, Yeah,
- 14:25Speaker 1: they're making an extra trip up with cameras, which is
- 14:28Speaker 1: why Erica never showed up Erica Curtis's wife, because this
- 14:31Speaker 1: is just about producing and about cameras, but they're going
- 14:35Speaker 1: up to like film stuff, gross and having an additional
- 14:38Speaker 1: memorial of some sort.
- 14:40Speaker 2: That's why I felt like this whole episode was off
- 14:42Speaker 2: because I'm just like, are you going for the funerals?
- 14:44Speaker 2: Like a couple months later, like okay, no, you're just
- 14:46Speaker 2: manufacturing content, got it? Yeah? Gross? Like even back in
- 14:50Speaker 2: twenty thirteen, Like you see this problem a lot nowadays,
- 14:53Speaker 2: like with TikTok and Instagram and stuff like where people
- 14:55Speaker 2: are manufacturing content, Like you have those family bloggers that
- 14:59Speaker 2: are like so sinister and everything. But like even back
- 15:02Speaker 2: in twenty thirteen, you have Cody motherfucking Brown being like,
- 15:05Speaker 2: you know what, my dad and my brother died. This
- 15:08Speaker 2: is great content for TLC. Let's kind offilm it.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Which is why Eric is not participating based and I
- 15:14Speaker 1: wouldn't either, No, I wouldn't do it. And this is
- 15:16Speaker 1: the problem again with reality television. As soon as your
- 15:19Speaker 1: cast becomes aware yeah, of the cameras and is contributing
- 15:25Speaker 1: storylines and content ideas, then you've lost the plot. It's
- 15:28Speaker 1: not authentic, and it's no longer as entertaining. It's not
- 15:31Speaker 1: that I'm not entertained, Yeah I am, but it's just
- 15:34Speaker 1: not as entertaining.
- 15:35Speaker 2: That's crazy to me that Cody even now and I'm
- 15:38Speaker 2: thinking about it, I'm like, Wow, like, your brother died
- 15:40Speaker 2: and you're just going up to Wyoming just to talk
- 15:43Speaker 2: about him.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Put bandana's on a fence post.
- 15:46Speaker 2: And talk about how much you miss him. And now
- 15:47Speaker 2: I'm wondering, like, were you even that close? Are you
- 15:51Speaker 2: that close?
- 15:51Speaker 1: There's so many smoke and mirror things happening in this family,
- 15:55Speaker 1: it's crazy.
- 15:56Speaker 2: We do hear some of like the lore between like
- 15:59Speaker 2: Cody and Curtis, because I guess Cody's family was LDS
- 16:03Speaker 2: and then when converted to polygamy because he wanted a
- 16:07Speaker 2: bang Cheryl, and this happened when Cody was on a
- 16:11Speaker 2: mission trip. And then I think Curtis was the one
- 16:14Speaker 2: that was like, nah, fam, I'm not living this life
- 16:17Speaker 2: at all. I'm gonna go and be a Christian.
- 16:19Speaker 1: And I think it's precipitated by his meeting of Erica.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Like he meets Erica, the family is introduced to Erica,
- 16:26Speaker 1: and then sometime after that Curtis becomes a born again
- 16:30Speaker 1: Christian and so they do like have different faiths yea,
- 16:34Speaker 1: And this causes some kind of a rift between Win
- 16:37Speaker 1: and Curtis. They don't really elaborate too much about that.
- 16:40Speaker 1: I don't know who judged too, but based on kind
- 16:44Speaker 1: of the way Cody talks about Curtis, it sounds like
- 16:46Speaker 1: it was when who maybe had a problem with Curtis
- 16:49Speaker 1: at the very least leaving Mormonism coming just a regular
- 16:54Speaker 1: regular Christian.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Yeah, who didn't believe in salamanders. Sorry, you didn't hear
- 17:01Speaker 2: me say. And then they go over to Janelle's house,
- 17:05Speaker 2: Cody's mom, Yes, And this is where she tells the
- 17:09Speaker 2: story of how she met when Yeah, I met in
- 17:12Speaker 2: high school or something at a high school dance. Yeah,
- 17:15Speaker 2: she was dancing with his friend and then she was like,
- 17:17Speaker 2: oh but I want that.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Well, but they were straight up men. Did you catch
- 17:21Speaker 1: that what? So it's a high school dance. Janelle went
- 17:25Speaker 1: to the same high school Win went to, but he
- 17:28Speaker 1: had already graduated. He became a full on man. He's
- 17:31Speaker 1: a rancher now would do But Janelle is, I don't
- 17:34Speaker 1: know how to say it, dame, and shes gonna say, Jane,
- 17:35Speaker 1: Janelle is still in high school, and I'm like, are
- 17:37Speaker 1: you a freshman though? Are you a sophoman? Like? What
- 17:40Speaker 1: grade are you in in high school? Well, they go
- 17:42Speaker 1: to some kind of a dance and then in walk
- 17:44Speaker 1: these two grown ass men. One's a rancher and one's
- 17:47Speaker 1: a farmer, and the farmer exactly yeah. So the farmer
- 17:52Speaker 1: is like, can I dance with you? Janelle? And she does?
- 17:54Speaker 1: And then Win, who's the friend of the farmer. So
- 17:57Speaker 1: when's a rancher a whole man though? Ole man goes
- 18:01Speaker 1: by Janaille's home, knocks on the door and says, hey,
- 18:03Speaker 1: I'm here on behalf of my friend. You know, would
- 18:05Speaker 1: you be amenable to being a farmer's wife? Would you
- 18:08Speaker 1: be okay living that kind of life? Because that's what
- 18:11Speaker 1: he does. He's interested in you. And that's when Janelle,
- 18:14Speaker 1: very cheeky, very forward, says, well, actually, I'm kind of
- 18:18Speaker 1: into you, dog. I'm kind of digging your vibe, the aura.
- 18:22Speaker 1: It's just so beautiful. And so then that's how she
- 18:26Speaker 1: gets with Win. And we see these pictures of Winn
- 18:29Speaker 1: as a young man, young rancher. I'm like, he's kind
- 18:32Speaker 1: of handsome, Yeah, totally definitely got the cowboy vibe. I
- 18:35Speaker 1: can see how the basement would flood for a man
- 18:38Speaker 1: like that, big old Win, those cowboy boots and a
- 18:42Speaker 1: big old hat.
- 18:43Speaker 2: That's what your husband where he wears big old cowboy
- 18:45Speaker 2: boots and wrangler geek.
- 18:47Speaker 1: You know I like that?
- 18:48Speaker 2: Yeah, you do, like I do. Man, it was a
- 18:52Speaker 2: different time back then, right.
- 18:53Speaker 1: But you know Winn had a hard face. Oh yeah,
- 18:55Speaker 1: my husband, he's smiling all his life. Yeah, he's got
- 18:58Speaker 1: a good sense of humor. But like with Wynn, he
- 19:01Speaker 1: seems like a stern person. He seems like a hard
- 19:04Speaker 1: egged person, like a task master daddy.
- 19:10Speaker 2: And then we go over to Cheryl's house and go
- 19:13Speaker 2: visit Cheryl, and Cheryl's not having a good time.
- 19:16Speaker 1: She's not doing well.
- 19:17Speaker 2: She is not having a good time. But this is
- 19:19Speaker 2: where we have Janelle, Cody's wife, tell the story of
- 19:24Speaker 2: how Cheryl met Win. And I feel like we've heard
- 19:27Speaker 2: this a million times.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Well let's go over it again for the new listeners.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Well, Janelle have been friends with Cody and Mary because
- 19:33Speaker 2: Janelle was married to Mary's brother.
- 19:37Speaker 1: And she was traditional LDS, whereas Cody and Mary were aub.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Yeah, and then Cody suggested going to Wyoming.
- 19:45Speaker 1: And hanging out at wins ranch, which is odd, don't
- 19:47Speaker 1: you think a little bit. He's just like, well, I mean,
- 19:49Speaker 1: if you're really into the cowboy lifestyle, why don't you
- 19:52Speaker 1: go visit my dad who's a polygamist and stuff and
- 19:54Speaker 1: go spend some time with them.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Yeah, And then Janelle does yeah, and Cheryl came too
- 19:59Speaker 2: because Cheryl.
- 20:00Speaker 1: It was after a while though, because.
- 20:02Speaker 2: She was concerned about Janelle falling into the cult.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Right, because brainwashing, there's abdoctions, there's like a lot of
- 20:10Speaker 1: mythology around the aub and so she travels to Win's
- 20:15Speaker 1: ranch to make sure her daughter's okay, and then she
- 20:18Speaker 1: falls in love with Win and they get married Hoddy
- 20:20Speaker 1: before Janelle and Cody do big belt buckle. That's right,
- 20:24Speaker 1: he's got a swagger to that. I'm geelling you.
- 20:27Speaker 2: They fell madly in love. And then four months later
- 20:30Speaker 2: Cody and Janelle get married, right, because I guess Janelle's
- 20:34Speaker 2: sense divorced or something.
- 20:36Speaker 1: I did think it was interesting if I can just
- 20:38Speaker 1: pause a bit, because we get to Cheryl's house, which
- 20:42Speaker 1: is another shock, quite frankly, and she does seem very depressed.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Like there's just a blanket of grief over her,
- 20:51Speaker 1: and Cody says he asks her, like, how are you doing?
- 20:54Speaker 1: How are you holding up? And she's like, basically, I
- 20:57Speaker 1: cannot talk about it, which is so like Janelle recall
- 21:01Speaker 1: when she loses Garrison and she goes back to the
- 21:04Speaker 1: Carolinas and like her sister's trying to talk to her,
- 21:06Speaker 1: like she just can't get the words out. So she's
- 21:09Speaker 1: very similar to her mother in this way, which I
- 21:11Speaker 1: thought was interesting. And then later in this episode and
- 21:14Speaker 1: I'll just kind of get to it now we have
- 21:16Speaker 1: the conversation about why it is easier I guess for
- 21:20Speaker 1: Janelle Cody's mother to sort of process Wins passing because
- 21:24Speaker 1: she had fifty whole years with when, whereas with Cheryl
- 21:28Speaker 1: she met him when she was forty eight years old
- 21:31Speaker 1: and she only had twenty years. And I think like
- 21:34Speaker 1: she's the robin to Wins Cody in that relationship, like
- 21:38Speaker 1: when they cross paths and locked eyes, it was soulmate
- 21:42Speaker 1: karma stuff, yep. And he fell in love with Cheryl
- 21:45Speaker 1: and Cheryl fell in love with him, and so she's
- 21:48Speaker 1: mourning when I think in a different way than Janelle definitely.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I think it's sad.
- 21:53Speaker 2: I think this is where we have. Cody even echo that,
- 21:56Speaker 2: and he's like, I can understand where Cheryl's coming from
- 21:59Speaker 2: because my dad met her and fell in love and
- 22:01Speaker 2: this is the love of his life or whatever, and
- 22:04Speaker 2: didn't have enough time, so I can relate to Cheryl
- 22:06Speaker 2: that way. And I'm like, oh, well.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Why can you relate to Cheryl that way?
- 22:10Speaker 2: Do you think because you met Robin later in life
- 22:12Speaker 2: and you don't got enough time, and you're you're foreshadowing
- 22:15Speaker 2: it a little bit and you can see yourself and
- 22:17Speaker 2: her shoes, and like, hopefully you and Robin live a happy,
- 22:20Speaker 2: long life.
- 22:20Speaker 1: I guess for a long life.
- 22:22Speaker 2: I don't want to wish bad upon you, even though
- 22:26Speaker 2: it forever, but may you live forever and go bankrupt.
- 22:30Speaker 2: But like, you know, it was interesting to hear Cody
- 22:33Speaker 2: say something like that, like I can understand how Cheryl feels.
- 22:37Speaker 2: I'm like, ah, got it.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Yes, so he is at present considering Robin to be
- 22:42Speaker 1: his soulmates exactly. Yes.
- 22:45Speaker 2: And then we have Cody and the kids, I think
- 22:47Speaker 2: writing poems and letters about win or to win, and
- 22:51Speaker 2: they're going to go to the cemetery and this is
- 22:53Speaker 2: where they are going to leave some of the letters
- 22:56Speaker 2: and stuff in his cowboy boots yeh, at the cemetery,
- 22:58Speaker 2: which is kind of sweet. And I thought this was
- 23:01Speaker 2: kind of interesting because of how Cody recounted like a
- 23:04Speaker 2: specific experience with his dad. Cody says that he never
- 23:08Speaker 2: really felt loved by his dad because his dad was
- 23:11Speaker 2: a very harsh, I guess, kind of cold rancher who
- 23:17Speaker 2: probably didn't say I love you very much, and like
- 23:19Speaker 2: wasn't very tender. And I think Cody talks about like
- 23:22Speaker 2: when he was a kid working on the ranch and
- 23:25Speaker 2: living on the ranch, like his dad made him work
- 23:27Speaker 2: and made all of the guys work and was not
- 23:30Speaker 2: kind about it, like not very like willing to give
- 23:34Speaker 2: him breaks or anything like that. And Cody was really
- 23:38Speaker 2: into athletics and stuff in his school years and everything,
- 23:43Speaker 2: and was it on his eighteenth birthday.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Well before that, Like Cody talks about like having to
- 23:48Speaker 1: work the ranch, like that's not interested at all in
- 23:51Speaker 1: working the ranch. He kind of wants to do his wrestling.
- 23:54Speaker 1: He wants to be a part of the things that
- 23:55Speaker 1: he's interested in. And when it's just all business, like
- 23:58Speaker 1: it's a ranch and there's a lot of crap that
- 24:00Speaker 1: needs to be done, and I've got boys, and you're
- 24:01Speaker 1: going to do the work with me. And Cody says
- 24:03Speaker 1: that he complained for years about being cold. Yeah, they're
- 24:08Speaker 1: in Wyoming and he doesn't have enough layers, and he's
- 24:11Speaker 1: out here working with the horses and the cows and
- 24:12Speaker 1: all these things, and he just cold all the time.
- 24:14Speaker 1: So while simultaneously pursuing athletics, he's also working the ranch
- 24:18Speaker 1: and he's uncomfortable, and so yes, then we get to
- 24:21Speaker 1: I think it was his eighteenth birth.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Sting like that, right, and he wanted a letterman jacket
- 24:26Speaker 2: because he was so big in athletics, and so he
- 24:29Speaker 2: gets a gift from his dad and he thinks that
- 24:31Speaker 2: it's a letterman jacket, but it ends up being coveralls, right,
- 24:36Speaker 2: which apparently really upset Cody. And like, when you're eighteen,
- 24:39Speaker 2: you don't realize the significance of that, right, because you're
- 24:43Speaker 2: just like the fucking dog coveralls.
- 24:45Speaker 1: So I didn't keep working on the ranch. But like,
- 24:47Speaker 1: wasn't it weird though to you that he would put
- 24:49Speaker 1: it in the box of the place that sold the
- 24:53Speaker 1: letterman jacket a little almost as if he was goating Cody,
- 24:57Speaker 1: or like teasing Cody a little bit, or maybe the
- 24:59Speaker 1: same place sold the coveralls. I don't know, but it
- 25:02Speaker 1: just seemed like almost a cruel trick on behalf of whim.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Maybe. Yeah. And then when Cody is like writing this
- 25:08Speaker 2: letter to his dad and like reading at the cemetery,
- 25:11Speaker 2: He's like, I realized, now, after all these years, that like,
- 25:15Speaker 2: you gave me these coveralls because you were worried about
- 25:17Speaker 2: me being cold, and you were remembering when I was
- 25:19Speaker 2: a kid, right, and I was complaining about being cold,
- 25:22Speaker 2: and like to me, I can see the sentiment of that,
- 25:25Speaker 2: Like I can see like him realizing like, oh, maybe
- 25:28Speaker 2: my dad like wasn't always a piece of shit. Maybe
- 25:31Speaker 2: he did actually care about me. But like maybe you're right,
- 25:33Speaker 2: maybe it was like this weird little trick that he
- 25:36Speaker 2: was playing on him. Or maybe that's what we're getting
- 25:39Speaker 2: Cody's version of it, right, Like.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Maybe I think Cody is trying to look back and
- 25:44Speaker 1: put on some rose collared glasses. Maybe a little bit.
- 25:47Speaker 1: I think that his father, in that moment giving him coveralls,
- 25:51Speaker 1: at the very least, was insensitive to what his son
- 25:53Speaker 1: actually really valued and wanted. Yeah, but I think a
- 25:56Speaker 1: lot of us do this when we lose people, especially
- 25:59Speaker 1: if we're losing people who we had problematic relationships with,
- 26:02Speaker 1: Like we want to be able to look back at
- 26:04Speaker 1: those relationships and not feel pain. We want to sort
- 26:08Speaker 1: of contextualize them in a way so that they're not
- 26:10Speaker 1: as hurtful. So it just felt to me like Cody
- 26:13Speaker 1: was trying to make it work with his dad, Like,
- 26:16Speaker 1: I get it, you just didn't want me to be cold.
- 26:18Speaker 1: You really did love me. But I'm just sitting here
- 26:21Speaker 1: as an innocent bystander wondering. I mean, I'm sure Wynn
- 26:25Speaker 1: loved him, I'm sure when all of his children, but
- 26:27Speaker 1: that doesn't necessarily make him a good dad, especially to
- 26:31Speaker 1: his boys. I don't know. I don't even know that.
- 26:33Speaker 1: I don't even know about the sisters. I don't even
- 26:35Speaker 1: know who his sisters are. Does he have sisters?
- 26:37Speaker 2: I think.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Not all boys. Yeah, never even heard of the sisters.
- 26:41Speaker 1: I wonder what their story would be like of their father. Yeah.
- 26:44Speaker 2: I wish we could get more insight into that because
- 26:47Speaker 2: I wonder if it would explain some of Cody's like
- 26:50Speaker 2: terrible behavior. And I'm not saying that like Wynn was
- 26:53Speaker 2: like this awful person I don't fucking know anything about him.
- 26:56Speaker 2: I just know that he's like a hard rancher and everything.
- 26:58Speaker 2: But I guess like I could just kind of of
- 27:00Speaker 2: relate to the idea of like trying to find like
- 27:05Speaker 2: some goodness in your parent or like in these people
- 27:08Speaker 2: that have passed on because you are looking at the
- 27:11Speaker 2: situation a little bit differently and like maybe Cody is
- 27:14Speaker 2: trying to in this regard. But it was just interesting
- 27:17Speaker 2: to me, like seeing this from Cody because we know
- 27:21Speaker 2: him now to be somebody who's incapable of like reflection
- 27:25Speaker 2: or any kind of acknowledgment of any goodness that like
- 27:28Speaker 2: his og wives produced for the family. Like he can't
- 27:31Speaker 2: see any of that kind of stuff now, Like we're
- 27:34Speaker 2: looking back now and he's like trying to find the
- 27:36Speaker 2: goodness in his dad.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Yeah, but even in him trying to find the goodness
- 27:39Speaker 1: in his dad in this moment, it's about him.
- 27:42Speaker 2: It is.
- 27:43Speaker 1: It's the light that comes respect to me. Oh he
- 27:44Speaker 1: really did love me though, right, he really did see
- 27:47Speaker 1: me and see what I needed, And yeah, he gave
- 27:49Speaker 1: it to me because he loved me.
- 27:50Speaker 2: That's a good point. It's still like that narcissistic, Yes,
- 27:53Speaker 2: still narcissistic. Yes, and then we shift gears for some
- 27:58Speaker 2: fucking reason and we have them Mary and the family
- 28:01Speaker 2: so dumb. Going back to her former employers Tom and Jerry, No,
- 28:06Speaker 2: it's Tom and.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Terry talmentary at like a plaque shop. So Cody worked
- 28:10Speaker 1: at a sign shop and Mary worked at a packet shop.
- 28:14Speaker 1: I thought it was gonna be like working with disaffected youth.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Oh yeah, because I had heard about her doing that.
- 28:18Speaker 1: But I guess that was in Utah, I guess or something.
- 28:20Speaker 1: So but when they were in Wyoming, he worked at
- 28:22Speaker 1: the sign shop and she worked at the black shop,
- 28:25Speaker 1: and she was very secretive about being a polygamist because
- 28:31Speaker 1: they would have been judged in the community. Oh and
- 28:34Speaker 1: so she never did tell her employers Terry and Tom
- 28:38Speaker 1: that she was a polagymist. So now they're going back
- 28:41Speaker 1: to tell them twenty years later.
- 28:44Speaker 2: I don't understand. I don't understand. And they go and like,
- 28:47Speaker 2: Mary's all anxious and as usuable, But I'm like, this
- 28:51Speaker 2: is so dumb to be anxious about when you're on
- 28:53Speaker 2: a national television show on TLC.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Like, but she's always anxious and uncomfortable when she has
- 28:59Speaker 1: to commute Kate of course express herself because this little way. Yeah,
- 29:03Speaker 1: I can't get into.
- 29:04Speaker 2: It because she can't be a grown up and like
- 29:06Speaker 2: just speak with her big girl words. But Tom and
- 29:08Speaker 2: Terry already found out, of course, because they watched the
- 29:12Speaker 2: show or something.
- 29:13Speaker 1: They knew when she was working there. Yeah, it's like
- 29:15Speaker 1: because somebody called them and said, oh, by the way,
- 29:18Speaker 1: like Cody's got multiple wives, and they're like, are you
- 29:22Speaker 1: kidding me? You must have just heard that from Cody
- 29:24Speaker 1: and he was just show boding. He was just making
- 29:26Speaker 1: stuff up, because that's how Cody is. Did you catch
- 29:29Speaker 1: that part? That's just what Cody does. He talks a
- 29:31Speaker 1: big game. And so we just didn't know for sure.
- 29:35Speaker 1: But then we saw you one day with Christine, Yeah,
- 29:37Speaker 1: and she was pregnant, and we wondered a little bit
- 29:41Speaker 1: maybe it was true.
- 29:42Speaker 2: And spoiler, they don't care. They never cared back then.
- 29:46Speaker 2: They don't give a shit. Now they're like, yeah, we've
- 29:48Speaker 2: been knowing. It's fine.
- 29:49Speaker 1: We live in Wyoming. We see this all the time.
- 29:51Speaker 1: We know this exists in our zeitgeist.
- 29:53Speaker 2: We getting so dumb. And Mary's like, oh my ha
- 29:55Speaker 2: ha ha, Like I'm so glad, I'm so nervous, so done.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Cody actually makes tell them formally, yes, so why didn't
- 30:02Speaker 1: you tell them what you came here to tell them
- 30:04Speaker 1: after they already told you. We have been knowing this
- 30:06Speaker 1: for twenty years, So Cody, I mean, excuse me. Mary
- 30:08Speaker 1: then says, oh, well, by the way, I'm a polygamist.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Her hers, this is so dumb, so dumb, this is
- 30:15Speaker 1: so so cringe dumb, so bad. And then we hear
- 30:18Speaker 1: from Christine talking about how hard it was to like
- 30:21Speaker 1: hide the fact that she was a plural wife, and like,
- 30:24Speaker 1: I get it, but you get it also like a
- 30:26Speaker 1: window into Christine kind of breaking I think fundamentally from
- 30:31Speaker 1: this whole thing, like realizing kind of sucks to have
- 30:34Speaker 1: to hide my relationship, hide my marriage, like not be
- 30:38Speaker 1: able to have my husband around all the time because
- 30:41Speaker 1: he's with other wives or whatever. Like it's you're starting
- 30:44Speaker 1: to see Christine realize, like this kind of sucks, and
- 30:48Speaker 1: it's been sucking for quite some time since I've lived
- 30:51Speaker 1: in Wyoming, because she's like, I can't just walk down
- 30:53Speaker 1: the street in Cody or Level Wyoming with my husband
- 30:58Speaker 1: pregnant because people will ask questions, why is Cody with
- 31:02Speaker 1: this woman when he's married to Mary, and so Janelle
- 31:05Speaker 1: and Christine weren't able to be seen just them to
- 31:08Speaker 1: ever sad and that is that is actually sad, like
- 31:11Speaker 1: super sad.
- 31:12Speaker 2: And also like watching this it made me realize and
- 31:15Speaker 2: have a little bit more compassion for how cringe Christine
- 31:17Speaker 2: has been now because now she's just excited to be
- 31:21Speaker 2: sure a monogamous wife. She's still cringe and just.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Have someone who only has eyes for her. Yes, that's
- 31:27Speaker 1: got to be wonderful after having to compete for your
- 31:31Speaker 1: husband's gaze with two other women and then only one
- 31:35Speaker 1: other woman, right, the new woman.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Exactly, so even though she's still cringe now I understand.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Yes.
- 31:41Speaker 2: And then we have the family going over to the
- 31:44Speaker 2: river to memorialize Curtis.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Yes, so we have the big scene with when at
- 31:50Speaker 1: the cemetery which seems to be the same cemetery as Garrison.
- 31:54Speaker 1: It did look exactly the same cemetery, which is sweet
- 31:57Speaker 1: and wonderful that Garrison is laid to rest there. But
- 32:00Speaker 1: then yes, we do have a little bit of a
- 32:02Speaker 1: family memorial for Curtis at this place by the river
- 32:06Speaker 1: where Cody and Curtis used to spend quite a lot
- 32:09Speaker 1: of time it's also the spot where the family first
- 32:13Speaker 1: met Erica, yeah, and got to know Erica. And it
- 32:17Speaker 1: just made me wonder in this moment again, why Erica
- 32:22Speaker 1: is not there. It just felt intuitively, let me put
- 32:26Speaker 1: on my sake, my fake psychic hat. It felt intuitive
- 32:29Speaker 1: to me like she was saying, I don't want to
- 32:33Speaker 1: be there because you're just doing this for the cameras.
- 32:36Speaker 1: We've already had a funeral. I'm literally a widow. I've
- 32:39Speaker 1: just lost my young husband. I've got two little kids,
- 32:42Speaker 1: and you're bringing all these cameras up to the place
- 32:45Speaker 1: where I live so that you can what film a show?
- 32:48Speaker 1: Do you even give a crap about me? And the
- 32:51Speaker 1: answer is no, no, I don't think Cody actually gives
- 32:53Speaker 1: a crap about you. I think he's just making television.
- 32:56Speaker 1: And so she doesn't show up, Her kids aren't there.
- 32:58Speaker 1: It's just Janelle Mom, Cody and his kids and his wives,
- 33:03Speaker 1: and yep, I was like, oh, that's a pretty glaring omission.
- 33:07Speaker 2: It makes me wonder like how they were even allowed
- 33:10Speaker 2: to do this in the first place, because if you're
- 33:12Speaker 2: right about Erica like not wanting to be a part
- 33:15Speaker 2: of this because she doesn't want her husband's tragic death
- 33:19Speaker 2: being used to exploited, yes, to be for profit and everything,
- 33:24Speaker 2: Like I wonder if she tried to say like no,
- 33:27Speaker 2: Like I wonder, I wonder if she tried to call
- 33:29Speaker 2: the network or anything, or maybe she just didn't have
- 33:31Speaker 2: the bandwidth to even deal with all of that. She
- 33:34Speaker 2: was just like, fuck you, Cody, Like I guess, do
- 33:36Speaker 2: whatever you want, Like I'm going to be private with
- 33:38Speaker 2: my kids while we're literally mourning.
- 33:41Speaker 1: It just kind of had echoes of what happened with Garrison.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Oh this memorial service, and there was that rumor that
- 33:48Speaker 1: the family didn't want the cameras to be there, but
- 33:51Speaker 1: Cody brings the cameras anyway, and so then the cameras
- 33:55Speaker 1: have to stay like two hundred feet away or whatever,
- 33:57Speaker 1: and so we get these shots at the memorial from
- 34:00Speaker 1: a long distance away, And I was like, is Cody
- 34:04Speaker 1: the driver behind like needing to have these sentimental moments
- 34:08Speaker 1: like a commitment ceremony for example, and the upcoming time
- 34:12Speaker 1: capsule ceremony that they're going to have, Like is he
- 34:15Speaker 1: the driver behind creating these fake moments just to mine
- 34:20Speaker 1: this sentiment from the audience. And maybe Erica knows this
- 34:23Speaker 1: and Oh yeah, maybe that's why Eric is not there
- 34:25Speaker 1: right now.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Maybe. And I mean, if Cody is a communal type
- 34:28Speaker 2: of narcissist where he wants everybody to think like he's
- 34:31Speaker 2: such a good person and he's such a caring brother
- 34:33Speaker 2: and such a caring son, like he would totally do
- 34:36Speaker 2: all these things.
- 34:37Speaker 1: So I'm sorry, but like, what's the difference between a
- 34:39Speaker 1: regular narcissist and a communal narcissist. I mean, aren't all
- 34:44Speaker 1: narcissists wanting the community to see them a certain way?
- 34:47Speaker 2: Not necessarily. The communal narcissists are one specifically where they
- 34:51Speaker 2: like try to do a lot of charity work, or
- 34:53Speaker 2: they try to do a lot of things that make
- 34:55Speaker 2: them appear to be good people or like no, I'm
- 34:58Speaker 2: so giving because I'm such a good person. It's like
- 35:01Speaker 2: that kind of it's still narcissism. It's still fueled by
- 35:04Speaker 2: like this stupid ego and everything, but it's like mainly
- 35:07Speaker 2: focused on the appearances of like, no, I'm a good person. No,
- 35:12Speaker 2: I have a happy family. Yeah, like Cody being so
- 35:15Speaker 2: focused on the big family and having all of his
- 35:18Speaker 2: wives get along and everything, like no, like I'm a
- 35:21Speaker 2: good plural husband, I've been good this whole entire time.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Y'all are just all wrong, Like it's that kind of
- 35:27Speaker 2: okay narcissism, Yeah.
- 35:28Speaker 1: Okay, but anyway, moving on from Curtis's sexual moral yeah,
- 35:34Speaker 1: we go on then to Cody going to meet with
- 35:38Speaker 1: his mom. Yes, just them, so there's no other family
- 35:42Speaker 1: around yet. And I actually thought this was a really
- 35:45Speaker 1: sweet scene because of the way that Cody took care
- 35:49Speaker 1: of his mom, like emotionally, like no, he was asking
- 35:52Speaker 1: questions like how are you mom? Yeah, and how have
- 35:55Speaker 1: you been doing? And we learn that Janelle is actually struggling.
- 35:59Speaker 1: She's been she's been going through Curtis's old poems and yeah,
- 36:04Speaker 1: like she's This is where she says she tells us
- 36:06Speaker 1: that she's actually really struggling with the passing of Curtis
- 36:09Speaker 1: much more than with when. Yeah, and Cody's just trying
- 36:13Speaker 1: to take care of his mom, and at some point
- 36:14Speaker 1: he's like, well, would you ever consider leaving this shuck
- 36:18Speaker 1: all right and like coming down to maybe spend longer
- 36:21Speaker 1: amounts of time in Las Vegas around all of your grandkids?
- 36:24Speaker 1: And she's like, honestly, no, Yeah, I'm okay here, I've
- 36:28Speaker 1: got seventy some odd grandkids, so not just your children,
- 36:32Speaker 1: Like I got a lot of grandkids and I'm busy,
- 36:34Speaker 1: but I'm just sad.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Yeah, and she says she's lonely too, Like she's busy,
- 36:39Speaker 2: but she's lonely. And that's like this part was hard
- 36:42Speaker 2: for me, just because Cody's like trying to get his
- 36:44Speaker 2: mom to like move closer to be with family and everything,
- 36:47Speaker 2: and she's resistant to it because you know, when you're
- 36:50Speaker 2: that old, like you don't really want that kind of
- 36:52Speaker 2: a change, like let me just be in my shack
- 36:54Speaker 2: and sure, on the rand, I'm used to what I'm
- 36:56Speaker 2: used to exactly. They don't want to move, like that
- 36:58Speaker 2: was how my poppy was like after my non I
- 37:00Speaker 2: were like, do you want to come live with my
- 37:02Speaker 2: mom or my uncle? And he's just like, nope, I'm
- 37:05Speaker 2: going to stay here my small town. And it's like, okay,
- 37:08Speaker 2: you can't really force them to do that. They just
- 37:10Speaker 2: want to be where they're comfortable and that's fair. Yep.
- 37:14Speaker 2: And then we have like a story I can't remember
- 37:17Speaker 2: who said this, if it was Cody or what, but
- 37:19Speaker 2: like when Winn died, he apparently looked surprised. Yeah, like
- 37:25Speaker 2: and Cody I think says like he maybe saw Curtis
- 37:27Speaker 2: or something like it was as if.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Like he was surprised by somebody in the room and
- 37:32Speaker 1: Cody thinks it was Curtis. And then Cody talks also
- 37:35Speaker 1: about the two funerals, Like first Curtis passes and then
- 37:41Speaker 1: the family gets back to the ranch and like all
- 37:43Speaker 1: of the horses are Cody says, acting crazy, but like
- 37:47Speaker 1: they're running around, they're super activated. Yeah, and Curtis was
- 37:50Speaker 1: really a horse person. He was a cowboy person. And
- 37:53Speaker 1: then when Win passed and they had his funeral, they
- 37:56Speaker 1: come back to the ranch and the horses are behaving
- 37:58Speaker 1: in much the same way. Yeah.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Kind of interesting. Yeah, that they were like all really
- 38:03Speaker 2: into the horses and everything, and the horses may be new.
- 38:06Speaker 2: It's really sad actually. And then we have the family
- 38:08Speaker 2: meeting up and they talk about like Cheryl and Janelle
- 38:14Speaker 2: Cody's mom, going to church.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Yeah, so after when passes, Cheryl and Janelle, Cody's mom,
- 38:21Speaker 1: make a pact that they're just going to make sure
- 38:24Speaker 1: that they manage and maintain their relationship. And so they
- 38:27Speaker 1: first go to church together. The next week, they go
- 38:30Speaker 1: to a matinee together. They watch a movie, like it
- 38:32Speaker 1: is a priority for them to make sure that they
- 38:36Speaker 1: nurture their relationship, which is an interesting sort of unspoken
- 38:41Speaker 1: comment on what's going on with Cody's wives, because of
- 38:45Speaker 1: course we have them in Sedona with the counselor like
- 38:48Speaker 1: talking about what is going to happen if I pass away?
- 38:52Speaker 1: Are you guys even going to be friends? Are you
- 38:54Speaker 1: guys going to still be considered a family together?
- 38:58Speaker 2: Right?
- 38:58Speaker 1: And so they're sort of reflecting in this watching Janelle
- 39:01Speaker 1: and Cheryl try to make this work and live together
- 39:04Speaker 1: on the ranch after Wind's gone, And I think the
- 39:07Speaker 1: subtext there is like, are we going to do that?
- 39:09Speaker 1: Would we even be able to go to church together?
- 39:12Speaker 1: Would we be able to go to a movie together?
- 39:15Speaker 1: Because as it stands in this moment, I don't think so.
- 39:18Speaker 1: I think if Cody dies first year in the cul
- 39:21Speaker 1: de Sac, the women are scattering like the wind.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Oh one hundred percent, because why would you be friends
- 39:26Speaker 2: with someone.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Like Robin or Mary or Mary? Yeah, like why, well
- 39:31Speaker 1: that's why.
- 39:31Speaker 2: Like even now you see it's just Christine and Janelle
- 39:34Speaker 2: ye trying to like stay close, and all of their
- 39:37Speaker 2: kids are pretty close, and Mary's doing her own thing
- 39:40Speaker 2: and going to Disneyland. I guess, hey, Robin's at home
- 39:43Speaker 2: with her American girl dolls. Yeah, yikes, and her men
- 39:46Speaker 2: and her man to you, I mean, not much of
- 39:48Speaker 2: a prize there, but like whatever, And then this is
- 39:51Speaker 2: where Cody again has to like make the connection of
- 39:54Speaker 2: like losing his brother and his dad and with truly
- 39:58Speaker 2: being sick, and like, this is why we need to
- 40:00Speaker 2: have the commitment ceremony. This is why we need to
- 40:02Speaker 2: commit to each other because we're a family and we
- 40:04Speaker 2: love each other. Blah blah blah. Again, like speaking to
- 40:07Speaker 2: your point of Cody just using all of this to
- 40:09Speaker 2: manufacture content and try to connect it to the stupid ass.
- 40:13Speaker 1: So he's becoming a producer, yes, and as we know,
- 40:16Speaker 1: the producer that left last year Sister Wives, they were friends.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Like that producer lived next door or like in the
- 40:24Speaker 1: same subdivision as Cody. They were friends. And so Cody
- 40:27Speaker 1: is obviously talking to the producer in twenty fourteen or
- 40:31Speaker 1: whatever and trying to come up with storylines and content
- 40:34Speaker 1: that they can produce. So you can already see him
- 40:36Speaker 1: wearing this hat and I don't.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Like it neither.
- 40:39Speaker 1: I don't think it's good. But there's Luckily, so many
- 40:43Speaker 1: other things going on in this family that it keeps
- 40:46Speaker 1: me interested.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Yeah, very definitely. And then we have the preview for
- 40:50Speaker 2: next episode, which hopefully will be lighter and funnier. We
- 40:54Speaker 2: can make fun of people. We have a dressmaker coming.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Old you like that. I'm wondering if this is where
- 41:01Speaker 1: I initially picked up with Sister Wives, like started to
- 41:05Speaker 1: watch it. Really this part I think in this season
- 41:08Speaker 1: because I remember watching that episode with the dressmaker so bad.
- 41:12Speaker 1: But then I think I walked away from it again
- 41:14Speaker 1: and it came back around the time of the Catfish.
- 41:16Speaker 1: But yeah, I remember this.
- 41:17Speaker 2: This is coringe. I remember this episode two because the
- 41:20Speaker 2: dressmaker comes by and she's designing these.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Beautiful, dreadful you sure about that?
- 41:26Speaker 2: All four of the ladies, and it's a complete fucking
- 41:29Speaker 2: shit show.
- 41:30Speaker 1: I can't care.
- 41:32Speaker 2: It's going to be so good.
- 41:33Speaker 1: They don't wear the dresses, though, I think at the
- 41:35Speaker 1: end of the day, I don't think so.
- 41:36Speaker 2: I think like maybe one or two of them have
- 41:38Speaker 2: a dress that's like completed, and then like one or
- 41:40Speaker 2: I think Mary probably buys one.
- 41:42Speaker 1: And Robin I'm sure probably would not be seen in
- 41:45Speaker 1: a bad dress.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Of course, and then we have the kids saying that
- 41:49Speaker 2: the commitment ceremony means more to the adults than it
- 41:52Speaker 2: means to them, like they don't give a shoe.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Well, because the adults understand that this is their job
- 41:57Speaker 1: and if they don't produce content, they're going to lose
- 42:00Speaker 1: it and their income.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Yes, And then we have Janelle asking the question to
- 42:04Speaker 2: Cody about if they put this mission statement on canvas
- 42:08Speaker 2: and it's permanent, like, what is going to happen if
- 42:11Speaker 2: Cody decides to get another wife?
- 42:15Speaker 1: My god, it's the Robins jog. It's really hard as
- 42:19Speaker 1: she's sitting in her armchair across the room just staring
- 42:23Speaker 1: at him. Oh another wife?
- 42:25Speaker 2: What really, You're gonna get another one? Okay? And of
- 42:28Speaker 2: course Cody's gonna be like, no, I have no plans
- 42:31Speaker 2: because he never is going to because Robin's.
- 42:33Speaker 1: It and he's in love. He's sprung, honey, he has
- 42:35Speaker 1: sprung sprung Diesel jeans model, that's right, break dancing. See. Well,
- 42:42Speaker 1: this was an interesting episode. It was a sad episode.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Curtis was so young, he was thirty four, tragic four
- 42:51Speaker 1: on a motorcycle. You know, my husband owned a motorcycle
- 42:55Speaker 1: when I met him myola. You know I dated impotent man, right.
- 43:00Speaker 2: He had a motorcycle too.
- 43:01Speaker 1: That's how he got his brain, That's how he got
- 43:03Speaker 1: his TPI. He was not wearing a helmet because he
- 43:06Speaker 1: was a dumb mess. Not wearing a helmet. He gets
- 43:09Speaker 1: into an accident and gets a TBI, changes his brain
- 43:12Speaker 1: chemistry forever, leading to our ultimate BREAKUPD. And so then
- 43:17Speaker 1: when I got with my now husband and he had
- 43:20Speaker 1: like a couple of bikes, I'm just like, you know what, fair,
- 43:24Speaker 1: I get it. I love that for you, but I
- 43:26Speaker 1: don't think I can date you. I've just got too
- 43:28Speaker 1: much trauma. And do you know he sold those bikes
- 43:30Speaker 1: within thirty days? Shut he sold those bikes within thirty days.
- 43:35Speaker 1: And I remember the first guy coming to get his
- 43:37Speaker 1: Kawasaki or whatever it was. He's like, so, why are
- 43:40Speaker 1: you selling your bike? And he's like, yeah, my girlfriend
- 43:42Speaker 1: doesn't want me to ride. And the man's like, I
- 43:45Speaker 1: would never do that for a woman, never, okay, And
- 43:48Speaker 1: my husband's like, all right, sorry, he gave it up
- 43:52Speaker 1: for me.
- 43:53Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Yeah, because I was worried that something like that with
- 43:56Speaker 1: Curtis would happen.
- 43:58Speaker 2: That's actually really sweet.
- 43:59Speaker 1: It is week because he loved his motorcycle. I know, I.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Bet he was so cool on those motorcycles.
- 44:05Speaker 1: Oooh my god. You know he's like six', three, yes
- 44:07Speaker 1: and he'd be wearing like His Power rangers, outfit like
- 44:10Speaker 1: when he's riding his Little. Kawasaki some about you gives
- 44:16Speaker 1: me going up six months, LATER i was, married still
- 44:21Speaker 1: married to this. Day, yeah, Well, beatrice is there anything
- 44:24Speaker 1: else that we should say to these beautiful raccoons before
- 44:27Speaker 1: we get up on out of here?
