- 0:36Here is your host, Angel Santana. Good morning and Merry Christmas to everyone.
- 0:43Thank you to my daughter, Ariel, and to the man himself, Santa,
- 0:47for the beautiful introduction.
- 0:49And thank you, our Half-Faith Let It Begin family, for joining us on this annual
- 0:54tradition, The Story of the Candy Cane.
- 0:57Tonight, we gather with grateful hearts as we prepare for the greatest celebration
- 1:02of all, the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
- 1:06This tradition is special because it reminds us that even the smallest things,
- 1:13even a simple candy cane, can point us back to the love of God.
- 1:18So sit back, relax, and let's journey together into the story of the candy cane. Amen.
- 1:30Long ago, in a small village, a humble candy maker wanted to create something
- 1:36special for the children at Christmas.
- 1:38Something simple, something sweet, but something that would quietly remind them
- 1:44of the true meaning of this season.
- 1:46He prayed and asked God for inspiration, and slowly, an idea formed in his heart.
- 1:53He shaped a piece of white candy into the form of a king.
- 1:58When he held one up, the candy looked like the letter J, standing for the precious name Jesus.
- 2:05When turned the opposite way, it becomes the shepherd's staff,
- 2:09reminding us of the good shepherd who watches over his flock,
- 2:13guiding and protecting each one of us.
- 2:16The candy was made of white to symbolize the purity of Christ,
- 2:22the sinless, spotless, and perfect in every way.
- 2:26It reminds us that through him, we are washed clean and made new.
- 2:32Then the candy maker added red stripes, a bold red stripe to represent the blood
- 2:37that Jesus would one day shed for us, and the three thinner stripes to remind
- 2:44us of the scourging he endured.
- 2:46All because of his deep and endless love. The candy cane was never meant to
- 2:52be just a treat. It was created as a quiet, beautiful message.
- 2:58Because Jesus loves you, Jesus is with you, and Christmas is all about him.
- 3:05As you enjoy a candy cane this Christmas Eve and Christmas morning,
- 3:09take a moment to look beyond the sweetness.
- 3:12Hold it up and see that J and remember it's Jesus.
- 3:18Turn it the other way and you'll see that it takes shape of a shepherd's staff,
- 3:23reminding us of his guidance.
- 3:26See the white and know you are forgiven. See the red and know you are loved.
- 3:32May this tradition continue to remind us why Christmas fills our hearts with hope.
- 3:38Because God so loved the world that he gave his only son.
- 3:43Thank you for joining us on this special Christmas Eve edition of Have Faith, Let It Begin.
- 3:49From my family to yours, may your home be filled with peace,
- 3:53warmth, laughter, and everlasting joy of Christ.
- 3:57Have a blessed night. May you feel the love of God surrounding you. Merry Christmas.
- 4:04And remember that you matter.
- 4:06Have faith. Let it begin. See you next season.
