Latest / Host Planet: Airbnb, Holiday Let, and Vacation Rental Insights / Noise, Neighbours & STR Regulation: What Hosts Need to Know
Transcript
- 0:00Your guests will notice if they are welcome in the neighborhood
- 0:03or not. I think the most important thing
- 0:06is to really communicate with your neighbors, whether they're
- 0:08an apartment next door or the house down the street.
- 0:12Regulation is obviously a big challenge for this industry.
- 0:15It is still a bit underestimated how big of a threat it actually
- 0:20is. Should noise monitors be
- 0:22mandatory in every short term rental?
- 0:25What happens when houses neglect their neighbors?
- 0:29And which trends will define the vacation rental industry in
- 0:322025? On today's episode of the Host
- 0:35Planet podcast, we're joined by Niels Madison, the CEO and Co
- 0:39founder of Minute, to explore how hosts can be responsible
- 0:43community members and run successful and sustainable
- 0:46businesses. Neil, thank you for joining us
- 0:54on the House Planet podcast. What should short term rental
- 0:57hosts and property managers do in order to be a good neighbor?
- 1:03I think the most important thing is to really communicate with
- 1:05your neighbors, you know, regardless of whether they're an
- 1:08apartment next door or the the house down the street.
- 1:13Part of running a shorter rental business is you never know
- 1:15what's what's going to happen on any given day.
- 1:18And if you have a good relationship with your
- 1:20neighbors, a lot of those things become a lot easier and if you
- 1:23have open communications with them.
- 1:26So I think that's the most important thing, so.
- 1:29It's just a case of maybe when you buy a rental or your you
- 1:32take over the management of it. Just knocking on the door,
- 1:35giving them your number, giving them your e-mail address, simple
- 1:38as that. Yeah, listening to, you know,
- 1:41their concerns or maybe their circumstances and then used that
- 1:47to communicate to your guests so your guests understand what the
- 1:50environment that they are staying in gives.
- 1:55Must a minute. I had one issue.
- 1:56There was I had a neighbor one time who was complaining a
- 1:59little bit and he really appreciated that.
- 2:02I gave him a call and just said, look, sorry about this, it's
- 2:07being sorted out. So I think taking that time to
- 2:10just have a chat with your neighbor, just pick up the phone
- 2:13in the same way that you deal with a guest.
- 2:14Really. It can really pay dividends in
- 2:16the end because if if you don't have the neighbors on your side,
- 2:20then the ramifications can be can be pretty negative, right?
- 2:24Right. I mean, your guests will notice
- 2:27if they are welcome in the neighborhood or not.
- 2:31And I think that initial welcome, you know, we always
- 2:35wish it's the the host or the property manager, but sometimes
- 2:37it's not. And I think having a supportive
- 2:42community around you can make a difference, not just to you, but
- 2:44to the guest as well. And of course, like if you get
- 2:49on the wrong side of a neighbor, there's a lot of things they can
- 2:52do now complaining to councils, etcetera too disrupt your
- 2:56business. They can be quite costly.
- 2:58So I really think this is one of those things where a little bit
- 3:02of proactive work can make a huge difference down the line.
- 3:06Yeah, that's the next question really.
- 3:07I mean, the, the pitfalls really of not being a good neighbor
- 3:10are, are those things, you know, complaining to the council,
- 3:13picking up the phone to the police maybe if, if there's any
- 3:16sort of issue. So trying to avoid that is, is
- 3:19so, so important. Let's talk about a little bit
- 3:22about Minute then obviously your your company.
- 3:26So tell us how a monitoring tool like Minute can help you be a
- 3:31really good neighbor and a net positive in your community.
- 3:35Yeah. So at the minute we we help
- 3:37hosts be good neighbors that that's part of part of our
- 3:40mission. And of course the most important
- 3:44aspect of that is, is noise. That is the number one complaint
- 3:48that neighbors tend to have against short term let's, which
- 3:52I think makes sense if we think about it like if you have a
- 3:56short term let that is a bit conducive to gatherings or, or
- 4:01parties, that's going to happen more often than not when you're
- 4:06renting it out. And of course, as a neighbor
- 4:08that that can get quite, it can get quite annoying after a
- 4:11while. And So what we do at minute is
- 4:15we, we have a sensor that is privacy conscious.
- 4:19So it doesn't pick up any information that can be tied to
- 4:21a specific individual, but can measure things like noise levels
- 4:25and occupancy levels. And then we use that information
- 4:29to actually communicate directly to the guest at first and give
- 4:34the guests an opportunity to, to self regulate and, and know
- 4:37that, you know, maybe they are being disturbing to the
- 4:40neighbors now. And we see that that is in the
- 4:43vast majority of cases very effective in allowing guests to,
- 4:49to self regulate. And we've seen that it, it
- 4:52creates a, a much lower number of neighbor complaints than you
- 4:57should expect, you should expect otherwise.
- 5:00So that that's, that's probably the most important aspect of
- 5:04what we do. Okay, real talk now for all you
- 5:07hosts out there, you know that moment when you guest messages
- 5:10you again with hey, what's the Wi-Fi code?
- 5:13Or you're staring at 5 different calendars wondering if you've
- 5:17accidentally double booked the cottage.
- 5:19Yes, we've all been there. That's why here at Houseplanner
- 5:23we recommend Housefully. It's basically your rentals
- 5:26control centre. It handles bookings across all
- 5:29the big platforms, syncs your calendars to ensure there are no
- 5:33double bookings, automates guest messages, and even creates these
- 5:37really slick digital guidebooks that stop all the repeat
- 5:40questions. Honestly, it just makes your
- 5:43life easier and keeps your guests happier, helping you
- 5:46achieve those all important five star reviews.
- 5:50And here is a little bonus. If you're a House Planet
- 5:52listener, you can get $500 off on boarding the House Fullies
- 5:57property management software and 30% off digital guidebooks for
- 6:01life. Just hit the link in the show
- 6:03notes and use the codes Planet 500 for the PMS and House Planet
- 6:08GB for the guidebooks. And if you'd like a proper
- 6:12walkthrough, there's also a link to book a demo with Frank Bosey
- 6:15from House Fully. He will show you how it all
- 6:18works. Less stress, more bookings,
- 6:21sorted with House Fully. So in terms of the kind of the
- 6:25functionality, then how exactly does that work?
- 6:28How does the guest get the alert?
- 6:29Is it some kind of alarm? Is it a message?
- 6:32Yeah. So we work with Airbnb and a lot
- 6:36of PMSS etcetera. So typically the guests will get
- 6:41the message through the platform which they made their booking
- 6:44through and it'll be, you know, something that the host can, can
- 6:48change depending on what they, what they wanted to say.
- 6:52You know, maybe you spoke to your neighbors earlier and they
- 6:55have a specific need, you know, maybe it's the kids bedtime or,
- 6:59or, or, or something else. And you can change the message
- 7:04to be very factual around that. But we see that like those
- 7:09automated messages that that come just, you know, 10 or 15
- 7:14minutes after noise has been detected are, are, are the most
- 7:18effective. And it could be the same for for
- 7:22other monitoring aspects like cigarette smoke, for example.
- 7:24If you're in an apartment building, that's something that
- 7:26can quickly spread to the neighbors and as well occupancy,
- 7:32right? Like even even before things get
- 7:34loud, if you see that you know, someone has brought their 1212
- 7:37closest friends to a 2 bedroom apartment, you know, maybe that
- 7:40is something where, where you need to kindly remind them about
- 7:43the, the, the house rules. But ideally from, from, from our
- 7:49perspective, what we see is probably the best.
- 7:51This is to be even more proactive and to speak to your
- 7:54guests about minutes already at the booking and have it on your
- 7:59listing and disclose what going to happen under what
- 8:03circumstances. And then we actually see a lot
- 8:07fewer issues than you would have otherwise.
- 8:10So again, just as with your neighbors, I think communication
- 8:14with your guests can be yeah, it can, it can really help the
- 8:19relationship over the over the long term.
- 8:22So how does the technology actually work in terms of the
- 8:26noise monitoring, the cigarette smoking and also the the number
- 8:32of occupants in the rental? How does the device actually
- 8:37know that these problems are happening?
- 8:41Yeah, that's, this is probably like the core IP of what we do,
- 8:48right? Like because obviously you can
- 8:49infer all of those things with say a camera or, or other types
- 8:54of sensors. And the problem with those is
- 8:57that you are recording imagery or or sound that can be
- 9:05violating someone's privacy. And especially when you see, you
- 9:09know, you send that to the cloud, you don't know where it
- 9:10goes. What's unique about Minute is
- 9:13that we do analysis directly on the sensor level, and only when
- 9:19something like cigarette smoke detection or loud noise has been
- 9:23detected does the sensor send that to the the guest and the
- 9:28host and what it sends then, not the raw data.
- 9:33It only sends exactly that message that I, the sensor has
- 9:38detected that the decibel level is, you know, 85 decibels in,
- 9:42in, in this flat, which, which is too loud in this
- 9:45circumstance. And the way we do it is that we
- 9:50have neural networks, the same type as you would have in a
- 9:54computer vision system that takes different sensory input.
- 10:02So it could be sound air pressure in the case of
- 10:05cigarette smoke detection, it's it's a more air quality type
- 10:08data. And then you you run this data
- 10:12through with the neural network and then the neural network is
- 10:16identifying events based on what comes into it.
- 10:19So it is something that, you know, only only 10 or so years
- 10:25ago you'd say it was impossible to do on, on directly on a
- 10:29sensor because it doesn't have much computational power.
- 10:32But of course, like with the revolution in artificial
- 10:35intelligence that we've been through over the, over the last
- 10:38few years, suddenly all the, all of these things are possible.
- 10:41And I think we're still just at the start of it.
- 10:44There is a whole lot more than the sensor we'll be able to
- 10:46learn over the long term. Exciting stuff and tell us how
- 10:50you got started with this because I know you've had quite
- 10:52an interesting background. You were out in Silicon Valley
- 10:56and working for some very interesting tech giants out
- 10:59there. So, so how did you come up with
- 11:01the the idea for this business and the, you know, the mechanics
- 11:05really of this technology? Yeah, I think those were two
- 11:09different things actually. Like I came upon the problem, if
- 11:13you will, when I was in San Francisco, I was working for
- 11:17Apple and I ran into one, if not the first employee at Airbnb
- 11:24when they were going through a, an accelerator called my
- 11:26Combinator. And he was telling me how
- 11:31already in those early days, they had issues with hosts who
- 11:37were renting out their, you know, their precious homes and
- 11:40they wanted to protect them. And the only thing that they had
- 11:42was was cameras. But of course you see that like
- 11:45as a, as a guest, as a violation.
- 11:49And I thought that was a very interesting, very interesting
- 11:52problem, right? Like you have two sides where if
- 11:57you solve it, it sort of gets better for everyone.
- 11:59And I like those kinds of kinds of problems.
- 12:02And then it was a few years later when, when I was at Apple,
- 12:05we did a lot of work with different type of machine
- 12:10learning systems. And, and I was at that point I
- 12:16started to consider what my own startup would be.
- 12:19I was looking at a lot of different ideas.
- 12:23But then this, the development of the computer vision side has
- 12:29been had been that, you know, when I started working with
- 12:32those things, the algorithm couldn't really tell the
- 12:35difference between a cat and a dog in a picture.
- 12:36It sounds ridiculous now, but it's not that long ago.
- 12:40But they rapidly became better and eventually, of course, like
- 12:44surpassed humans. So a computer is a lot better at
- 12:48finding, you know, a hidden cat in a picture than than than than
- 12:51a human is. But sound was always behind.
- 12:55And there are a few reasons for that.
- 12:56Like sound is, is different sound sources superimposed on
- 13:00one another. If you think about a picture,
- 13:03you know, if you have one thing in front of another, then then
- 13:05it gets completely, completely hidden.
- 13:09That's not really the case with sound.
- 13:10It all melts, which makes it a little bit more difficult to
- 13:13identify the specific things. But the trajectory was still
- 13:18quite clear. Like just as you started from a
- 13:22point of quite crude algorithms that were often wrong,
- 13:26eventually the same type of of intelligence that would work on
- 13:34on imagery also would work on sound.
- 13:36And you would get to a place where a, a sensor or a computer,
- 13:41like listening to an environment would understand more about that
- 13:44environment than a human would. And I saw how that technology,
- 13:49of course, that could be applied to, to this problem where you
- 13:52had a, an expectation of privacy, but you also had a
- 13:56monitoring need. And so that was really the, the,
- 14:00the, the realization that that made me think, OK, this is
- 14:05actually something that's interesting enough that you can
- 14:07start a company around it. We didn't know exactly where it
- 14:10would go. We actually did not know that
- 14:11much about the short term rental industry.
- 14:14We just knew that there's going to be environments where we
- 14:17expect privacy, but you have a stakeholder that needs insight
- 14:22from that environment that they need to be able to get without
- 14:26disturbing the privacy of that guest or tenant.
- 14:29And that's what we started with and we sort of pitched it in a
- 14:33few different markets, short term rentals being one.
- 14:36But of course the one that took off where the need was really I
- 14:41think the most critical and maybe where the pain was felt
- 14:45the the most, the most clearly. And so that's what we doubled
- 14:51down on and it's been a great, it's been a great journey.
- 14:55It's a great industry and I'm very happy that we found that
- 14:58niche for us. So at the moment then the
- 15:01technology like we were saying it's monitoring noise and
- 15:04cigarette smoke and occupancy. You mentioned there that you
- 15:08think it's going to develop. I'm not expecting you to share
- 15:11any trade secrets, but if you look into your crystal ball a
- 15:14little bit, you know how how do you think your your business
- 15:17will develop in terms of what it's going to monitor in in
- 15:20future? Yeah.
- 15:22So I think almost everything is possible, but there is no like
- 15:27rather you, you shouldn't monitor things that you don't
- 15:29need. So I feel like it needs to start
- 15:31with the problems that our customers are having and of
- 15:37course noise and parties was like like a relatively easy one.
- 15:40I think if I look ahead where things are heading now, the
- 15:43industry is professionalizing, there is more need for like
- 15:47operational efficiency. And so I think the kind of
- 15:50things that we would be looking at is more to do with making
- 15:57sure operations run very smoothly.
- 15:59You know, seeing, have my cleaners been in the whole
- 16:04property, have they spent a reasonable amount of time in the
- 16:07different places and, and then the triggers sort of automations
- 16:13based on that, that could be 1. I also think it's more and more
- 16:18important that we do what we can to reduce the carbon footprint
- 16:23of the industry. I think that's something that
- 16:25hospitality operators in general, we don't need to think,
- 16:28think hard about. And I think there's a lot of
- 16:32efficiencies that that can be realized once you take guest
- 16:36behaviour into account when set in heating and cooling and that
- 16:39sort of thing. And that's definitely something
- 16:43we can we can do already today, but I think it can get a lot, a
- 16:48lot better. So those are probably the more
- 16:51the the major themes and then we'll work back backwards from
- 16:57that and then say, OK, well, given that we need to have
- 17:03faster turnover, more efficient use of of of resources, then
- 17:08what are the things that we need the sensor to detect?
- 17:11And that's probably how we would go about it.
- 17:13So a device that is monitoring guests, but also monitoring kind
- 17:18of every aspect of the property and managing it, that's kind of
- 17:22where you see things going. Yeah.
- 17:24The way I would see it is more like monitoring the property
- 17:29without monitoring the guest type.
- 17:31So I think we need to like see ourselves in, in both parts of
- 17:38the both, both both sides of the business here.
- 17:43And I think we really need to, to make sure that it's like a
- 17:49like a win, win, win. You know, like there should be
- 17:51something in it for the, the neighbor and the community.
- 17:54There should be something in it for the guests or there should
- 17:55be something in it for the host. And the, the right balance to
- 18:00strike between like data and efficiency and integrity and
- 18:05privacy is when you see that it's like a clear win for, for,
- 18:10for all three. But when I talk about like guest
- 18:13behaviour, I would say something like, you know, detect maybe
- 18:16when there is no guest and maybe when there is no guest, you turn
- 18:18off the AC for the day. So those would would be the kind
- 18:22of things or similar similar with heating in a cold climate.
- 18:27Now, there are parts of the world, specifically in America,
- 18:30which mandate having monitoring tools like minutes in your
- 18:35rentals. Is that something you'd like to
- 18:37see everywhere? Yeah.
- 18:41I mean, regulation is is obviously a big challenge for
- 18:43this industry. And I think it is still a bit
- 18:47underestimated how big of a threat to it it actually is.
- 18:53And right now we're dealing with a patchwork of regulation that
- 18:56can be different city by city enforcement is very different.
- 19:01And I think that's actually really bad for the for the
- 19:04industry as a whole, because it makes it really hard for more
- 19:08professional operators to make sure that they're in compliance
- 19:11across their across their geographies.
- 19:14So while in general, I'm in favour of, you know, more
- 19:18national or statewide or even European Union level regulation,
- 19:24I also think that when it comes to noise monitoring in in
- 19:30particular, you know, there are some places where it's needed a
- 19:33lot more than in others. And so for example, like we've
- 19:36worked with a couple of governments in California where
- 19:39there are times of the year in, for example, Coachella Valley
- 19:43when there is a a lot of people who come and visit for the music
- 19:50festival and it basically became unlivable for, you know, regular
- 19:57residents. And that's not an environment
- 19:59that that we could ever tolerate.
- 20:01So we worked with the, the city government there in La Quinta
- 20:07and got minutes installed across the board and we could see
- 20:09actually a, a reduction of neighborhood complaints with
- 20:1285%. So, so it was quite, quite
- 20:16effective. So in that environment like, of
- 20:18course it is probably the right the right thing.
- 20:23I think it's probably also the right thing in cities where we
- 20:27live close to one another. And I think noise and nuisance
- 20:31from short term rentals is probably the main reason why
- 20:35people become antagonistic to the whole industry.
- 20:40And so I think we could actually nip a lot of regulation in the
- 20:43bud, a lot of more draconian regulation in the bud, if we
- 20:46like worked closely with communities and then and made
- 20:49sure that we were less of a negative impact to, to to the
- 20:53neighbors. But that said, like there needs
- 20:56to be like a like a balance because, you know, forcing a
- 21:00very rural property where maybe there is no neighbors nearby to
- 21:05have the same rules as you do, like an apartment in, in London.
- 21:08I don't think it's right. So finding that, finding that
- 21:12balance in the regulatory framework I think is the is the
- 21:17challenge and I hope they get it right.
- 21:21What's the feedback that you get from customers who've used
- 21:25minute in terms of the before and after?
- 21:28I mean, you're talking a little bit as well about the impact on
- 21:31the neighbors, you know, noise complaints potentially reducing
- 21:34by 85% in, in a place where there is Coachella, I imagine
- 21:38there were a lot before. So it's reduced significantly.
- 21:40So what's, what's the, the feedback that you get from both
- 21:42sides, I guess the the owners and also the neighbors?
- 21:47Yeah. So I think especially like like
- 21:50the professional owners that have, you know, maybe 5 or 10
- 21:54properties, like for them, it happens, it happens a lot.
- 22:00So when they install them in it, like suddenly like they get a
- 22:03lot of time back, they get a lot of stress that they didn't need.
- 22:06And so, so they're of course like people are people are quite
- 22:10happy. And I think almost like the
- 22:14bigger you are, the, the more of an impact it, it, it, it does
- 22:18because as a property manager, these are the kind of things
- 22:21that that comes to you if it's not not handled before.
- 22:26But of course also more like owners, many owners love their
- 22:31second homes. And we also do a lot of things
- 22:36like, you know, indoor climate monitoring and water leak
- 22:41detection and these kind of things.
- 22:43And we have saved over the years, many properties from
- 22:45being completely destroyed. And those are always the most
- 22:49appreciative messages from, from customers that I get this, you
- 22:53know, when we've saved, when we've saved, saved their own
- 22:56family home from, from some sort of destruction.
- 22:59And there has been a lot of different stories over the
- 23:02years. And so yeah, those are probably
- 23:07some of my some of my favorite ones.
- 23:09In terms of communication, it's something that you touched on
- 23:11before. What's the best way of
- 23:13communicating to your guests that a tool like Minute is in
- 23:17your rental? And also what's the best way of
- 23:19communicating it to the neighbors?
- 23:21Because I imagine the neighbors will feel a level of comfort if
- 23:26owners are using this type of tool.
- 23:28Absolutely. And I think a lot of property
- 23:30managers use it in their communication when trying to
- 23:33attract owners as well. So, you know, it becomes obvious
- 23:38who is a a more conscientious property manager manager and
- 23:43not. And we like one of our company
- 23:47values is transparency. And I think it's very important
- 23:49given the, the, the type of business that we, that we run.
- 23:53And so we are always in favour of like disclose it on your
- 23:57listing, explain what it is. And if you explain what it is,
- 24:00it's not scary. If you find it in the middle of
- 24:02the night as a guest and you're wondering what is this?
- 24:05That's not a good experience. So I always say like, you know,
- 24:08put it in the put it in the house rules, put it when you
- 24:11put, put it on the listing and, and ideally also when you check
- 24:15in. And we have tools to facilitate
- 24:18that sort of like, you know, automated messaging based on
- 24:21what I guess it's actually entering a property, etcetera,
- 24:23which can mostly be used to elevate the the experience,
- 24:27right? Like you come in and you are
- 24:28welcome at the right time rather than at the, you know, 10 AM
- 24:32check in time that that or, or 2:00 PM check in time that that
- 24:37is in the is in the rule book. So, yeah, that's what that's
- 24:43what I would say. You know, like people are not
- 24:45going to get every message, they are going to miss it.
- 24:48But so you have to put it in several places and and be quite
- 24:51proactive about it and timely about it.
- 24:53Yeah, very important, yeah. Be be open about it because it's
- 24:57going to be something that a lot of guests are going to respect.
- 25:01I think a lot of guests will probably prefer it as well
- 25:03because it shows that you're, you know, taking your, your,
- 25:05your rental and your property seriously.
- 25:07OK, Then just moving on a bit to about 2025.
- 25:10So what are the trends that you're seeing in the STR space
- 25:13that house and property managers should be aware of?
- 25:15Yeah, so. Regulation, we touched upon that
- 25:18like I still see that as a, a force that is like reshaping
- 25:23the, the industry and that's something I hear from customers
- 25:26really all over the world. We also knew regulations in
- 25:30Vienna, for example, which directly effects our, our, our
- 25:34customers there. And I think especially like the
- 25:38more professional managers that we work with, I don't mean
- 25:41professionals in the, in the, in the behaviour, but like, as like
- 25:45larger companies, they're seeking to invest in places
- 25:49where there is lower regulatory risk.
- 25:52And so I see a lot of investment being made into things like
- 25:56apartment hotels and, and sort of repurposing maybe old school
- 26:02hotels to something that is a bit more short term rental.
- 26:04So you, you know, remove a lot of the staff and and install
- 26:10sort of kitchenettes and that sort of thing.
- 26:13And I don't think that's necessarily a, a, a bad
- 26:17development. I think that's probably
- 26:18something which sits a little bit in between your typical
- 26:21short term rental and and a hotel that can fit a lot of
- 26:25types of travellers. So that's one thing.
- 26:28And then sort of on the other side, I would say like the like
- 26:33another trend that we're seeing is the emergence of a really
- 26:37like high end class of properties, which is really nice
- 26:43to see. I think that's almost like
- 26:45something on its something on its own where a lot of people do
- 26:50like they put in a lot of work to the properties and and they
- 26:55almost build their own brand around even like a single a
- 27:00single property. And I think that there's a lot
- 27:01of interesting implications for that in terms of like how do you
- 27:06acquire guests, build demand? And I'm looking forward to
- 27:12seeing more where that can where that can go in coming years.
- 27:15Sounds good. OK.
- 27:16Then Neil's we've got a few questions to finish.
- 27:19So first of all, your favorite brand in the STR space, apart
- 27:24from million, of course. Yeah, I, I.
- 27:26Struggled. I struggled with this one
- 27:28because like we have of course like over 10,000 customers and I
- 27:33love them all. But one, that one that stands
- 27:36out a little bit and I would say also stands out in terms of how
- 27:38quickly they've scaled on the brand they've built, especially
- 27:42in the last year is wonder, I don't know if you've seen them,
- 27:46it's a it's AUS operator doing these like very, very high end
- 27:52vacation rentals across across America.
- 27:55If you haven't, if you haven't done checked them out, I think
- 27:58there's a lot of inspiration even for smaller property
- 28:00managers to be had there. Excellent.
- 28:02We'll take a look and. We'll include a link in the show
- 28:04notes. Wonder OK, an individual in the
- 28:07STR space you'd like to give a shout out to and why?
- 28:12Yeah, I was going to give a shout out to my friend the Alex
- 28:15Limpert of Guest Ready. That's another company that I
- 28:18think is doing quite well and and it has like a really good
- 28:22attitude to to the industry. So, you know, if you have the if
- 28:26you have the chance, you should have Alex on your podcast as
- 28:28well. Excellent.
- 28:29We'll see if we can. Get that organised and I shout
- 28:32out for Alex there. And finally, then your number
- 28:34one lesson learned since founding Minute.
- 28:39Yeah, there is a lot of lessons. I think the number one is, you
- 28:42know, don't start your own company now.
- 28:46Like the thing that I come back to like if you're trying, trying
- 28:49to like distill a lot of the things that you you encounter in
- 28:53a start up journey, It all comes down to people.
- 28:58And I think like having a long term view on on people building
- 29:02your team. That's that's probably the
- 29:07thing. You know, if there's like one
- 29:08thing that that you want to tell like an aspiring entrepreneur,
- 29:11like it's really like think about the people that you, you,
- 29:16you choose to have on your team and, and think about them in a
- 29:19long term. Like how are people developing?
- 29:22Because that's ultimately what a company is.
- 29:24It's just a collection of people.
- 29:26Very wise words. Yes, it is all about people,
- 29:29whether it's your customers, your team, that is the key.
- 29:33Niels, it's been a real pleasure.
