1:41
Speaker 3: may not have known this, But if you're going to
1:43
Speaker 3: if you're going to go to the Charleston Town Center,
1:46
Speaker 3: it's gonna cost you more money now to Park's five bucks.
1:49
Speaker 3: Now they've raised the price on that, and we're gonna
1:52
Speaker 3: talk about that coming up a little bit later on. Also,
1:55
Speaker 3: as the legislature begins to wind down, they actually gabbled
1:58
Speaker 3: in earlier this morning. I think it was the Senate
2:01
Speaker 3: was at nine and the House was at ten, if
2:02
Speaker 3: I'm correct about that. If not, it's that then it's
2:05
Speaker 3: the reversal. But we got Wilson and Meadows there today
2:08
Speaker 3: and we'll check in with them toward the end of
2:11
Speaker 3: the show. One of the big bills that's gotten a
2:12
Speaker 3: lot of tract well, there's actually a couple that have
2:15
Speaker 3: been on people's radar of the last twenty four hours.
2:17
Speaker 3: It seems one of those is the micro grid bill,
2:19
Speaker 3: and so I may get into talking about that a
2:21
Speaker 3: little bit. Also, a cell phone ban in classrooms. The
2:24
Speaker 3: House has already passed it and it's up for a
2:26
Speaker 3: vote in the Senate, and I'm going to try to
2:28
Speaker 3: get into that story coming up a little bit later on.
2:31
Speaker 3: And your calls and texts. Oh, by the way, the
2:33
Speaker 3: Tulip Festival is going on over at Gritz Farm. Will
2:36
Speaker 3: talk to Alexandra up post about that a little later on.

2:50
Speaker 3: En Racism being held on the twenty sixth of this
2:52
Speaker 3: month here in Charleston, here to talk about a chante
2:55
Speaker 3: ellis of the YWCA, Charleston Chante. Welcome to the show.
2:58
Speaker 5: Thank you, how are you? Thank Thank they for having me.
3:00
Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. Tell us all about this
3:03
Speaker 3: big event. Just give us the overall then we'll break
3:05
Speaker 3: down specific overall.
3:06
Speaker 5: This is our ninth annual Race in Racism. So we've
3:10
Speaker 5: been doing this for the past nine years. It happens
3:14
Speaker 5: on the boulevard on the west side right above Magic Island.
3:19
Speaker 5: Starts at nine am on April twenty six, and it.
3:23
Speaker 3: Is April twenty six, as you said, And this thing
3:26
Speaker 3: the ninth year, is that right? Yeah, this is our
3:28
Speaker 3: ninth year and just gets bigger and better every year.
3:31
Speaker 3: What are some of the things going on there in
3:33
Speaker 3: addition to the quote unquote race, What are some of
3:36
Speaker 3: the other things you got going on?
3:37
Speaker 5: So we have a five k run and a one
3:39
Speaker 5: mile walk. We also have bandanas for dogs, so because
3:44
Speaker 5: the dogs like to come about to but we also
3:47
Speaker 5: have a kid zone and we have other vendors there.
3:50
Speaker 5: We'll have family care mobile unit, we'll have Starbucks, and
3:55
Speaker 5: usually people who are not running, who are not walking,
3:58
Speaker 5: they're there for the mission for sure.
4:00
Speaker 3: That's what I was going to say, because you know,
4:01
Speaker 3: not everybody is a is a runner, and not everybody
4:05
Speaker 3: wants to walk, but they just want to help out
4:06
Speaker 3: or they just want to they're there, as you said,
4:08
Speaker 3: for the mission. Talk about what the mission is.
4:10
Speaker 5: So we have a lot of supporters, and so our
4:13
Speaker 5: supporters are there to support our mission and eliminating racism.
4:18
Speaker 5: This particular race supports our programming with our community Enrichment
4:22
Speaker 5: program which encourages education, advocacy, and community engagement.
4:28
Speaker 3: And talk about that kind of do a deep dive
4:31
Speaker 3: into that, about those programs that you offer with a
4:33
Speaker 3: community engagement and the advocacy.
4:35
Speaker 5: So the advocacy, like today, you know, we're you know,
4:38
Speaker 5: we'll be at the capital. I'll leave here and walk
4:42
Speaker 5: to the capital. We've done some work with education as
4:47
Speaker 5: far as understanding your role in democracy and those types
4:51
Speaker 5: of things. The community can use some supporting.
4:54
Speaker 3: Where are we? I know this is probably the most
4:57
Speaker 3: broad question ever, but but where are we now? Chante
5:00
Speaker 3: twenty twenty five. It gets as her eyes rolled back
5:04
Speaker 3: in her head. Where are we now as far as
5:07
Speaker 3: race relations in America? In your opinion? I mean, we
5:10
Speaker 3: got a way to go, but we've come a long way.
5:13
Speaker 3: Was that is that a fair statement.
5:15
Speaker 5: We've come a long way. Okay, you know, it's to
5:18
Speaker 5: a point where we've taken two steps forward, but we're
5:21
Speaker 5: we're going several steps back this point. We've showed some progression.
5:29
Speaker 5: I think for the most part, people want to understand
5:34
Speaker 5: each other, and that's what it's going to take, understanding
5:37
Speaker 5: people's differences, especially with the whole DEI scare as you know,
5:43
Speaker 5: with people the woke virus is what it's being called,
5:49
Speaker 5: which is not It's part of our society, right, It's
5:53
Speaker 5: a part of being a diverse culture. It's providing equitable
5:57
Speaker 5: opportunities for everyone. This is where we at. But that's
6:03
Speaker 5: going backwards.
6:04
Speaker 3: Okay, okay, okay, But but we have come a long way,
6:07
Speaker 3: as you said, but we still got a lot of
6:08
Speaker 3: work to do.
6:08
Speaker 5: I think we have a whole lot of art.
6:10
Speaker 3: I think I think it's a fairy say what we're
6:11
Speaker 3: talking to you as chante Elis again from y w
6:13
Speaker 3: C A Charleston, talk about I know that this is
6:16
Speaker 3: kind of like one of your big signature events, but
6:18
Speaker 3: you guys, you folks do a lot of other stuff
6:20
Speaker 3: besides just event of this event. Talk about that.
6:23
Speaker 5: Yes, So the hye WCA has several programs. So particularly
6:26
Speaker 5: we have my program, which is the Community Enrichment Program.
6:30
Speaker 5: We have a Domexica Violent Shelter, we have a childcare center,
6:34
Speaker 5: we have transitional housing, and then we have our Shanklin
6:40
Speaker 5: House for the elderly and abuse elderly.
6:44
Speaker 3: There's a lot of different things that you do other
6:45
Speaker 3: than just And the reason I bring that up Chante
6:47
Speaker 3: is I don't want people to think, well, this is
6:49
Speaker 3: what they I mean, this is your No.
6:51
Speaker 5: We are a social service, social services and the service organization.
6:55
Speaker 3: You do a whole lot of stuff in the community.
6:56
Speaker 3: Tell me about you personally, I mean you met on
6:58
Speaker 3: my show in the past, But tell me about Chante.
7:01
Speaker 5: Well Schante is originally from Brooklyn, New York. But however
7:06
Speaker 5: this has been my home since twenty six years.
7:09
Speaker 3: Did you end up here? Do you mind asking how
7:10
Speaker 3: you are by.
7:11
Speaker 5: Way of the military?
7:12
Speaker 3: Okay, thank you for your service, thank you for your support.
7:16
Speaker 5: So I have a son and I'm a mom and
7:21
Speaker 5: I am a huge advocate for are the West Virginia state.
7:28
Speaker 5: I think it's one that I became to know and love.
7:32
Speaker 3: What is it about West Virginia that you love? And
7:34
Speaker 3: the reason I bring this up is because you know,
7:37
Speaker 3: we have we haven't, and everybody knows about the issues
7:39
Speaker 3: of people leaving West Virginia. But anytime I get somebody
7:43
Speaker 3: that came here and decided to make it their home.
7:46
Speaker 3: You said, you're originally from Brooklyn. What is it that
7:49
Speaker 3: appealed to you about West Virginia that made you want
7:51
Speaker 3: to stay here and raise your son here?
7:53
Speaker 5: So I didn't come here by way of Brooklyn, That's
7:55
Speaker 5: what I will say that. Okay, had I done that,
7:58
Speaker 5: it might been a little bit okay, okay, fair enough,
8:00
Speaker 5: it would be a little bit of a culture shop
8:02
Speaker 5: for me, just a little bit, a little bit of
8:04
Speaker 5: a coach, Okay. But I think there's a lot of
8:09
Speaker 5: history here. There's a lot of history. I love being outdoors.
8:14
Speaker 5: There's so much to do during I mean especially during
8:17
Speaker 5: the summertime and the warmer months. It's it's scenic, it's beautiful.
8:24
Speaker 5: And then I think that people who are not from here,
8:29
Speaker 5: they have lots of opportunities that they wouldn't have in
8:33
Speaker 5: bigger city.
8:34
Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly right. Let's get back to the race in racism.
8:38
Speaker 3: It is happening again here. On April the twenty sixth,
8:41
Speaker 3: on the Boulevard in Charleston. It's one of the biggest
8:43
Speaker 3: events in Charleston. I mean because it's it's a big
8:46
Speaker 3: not just the race and the walk, but everything that
8:47
Speaker 3: goes along with it. As you said, all of the
8:49
Speaker 3: different A lot of folks just come out just to support. Yes,
8:53
Speaker 3: if a business owner, because we have a lot of
8:55
Speaker 3: business people that listen to the show, if they want
8:57
Speaker 3: to get involved, or do you still need sponsors at
8:59
Speaker 3: this point?
9:00
Speaker 5: What do you need to Yes, we always look, always
9:03
Speaker 5: look at a sponsors. So you can go onto our
9:05
Speaker 5: website at YWCA Charleston dot org slash race all the
9:10
Speaker 5: details or right at your fingertips. We can use sponsorships,
9:15
Speaker 5: you can form a team, or if you want a volunteer,
9:18
Speaker 5: you can do that too, because we do need lots
9:19
Speaker 5: of volunteers. We need people to cheer on the runners
9:23
Speaker 5: and walkers.
9:23
Speaker 3: Talking about those volunteers, It's something I meant to bring
9:25
Speaker 3: up early and I didn't. The volunteers to pull this
9:27
Speaker 3: event off. Talk about those folks.
9:29
Speaker 5: Volunteers are huge in making sure that this event is
9:34
Speaker 5: a success. So we have volunteers who guide the runners
9:39
Speaker 5: and walkers in which direction to go. We have volunteers
9:42
Speaker 5: who come in stuff packets the day before so that
9:46
Speaker 5: people can pick up our during packet pickup, we have
9:50
Speaker 5: people who just come out and cheer. So it's going
9:53
Speaker 5: to be on the boulevard. So if you live on
9:55
Speaker 5: the boulevard, just come out your front door and help
9:58
Speaker 5: support the event.
9:59
Speaker 3: All right. And I know you've got a Facebook page
10:01
Speaker 3: and you mentioned the website. We wish to the best,
10:04
Speaker 3: but it's a big one of the bigger events in
10:05
Speaker 3: the springtime every year in Charleston. I appreciate you being here, Chantann.

Speaker 3: going through the legislature they gaveled in early this morning.
13:16
Speaker 3: One of those has to do with a cell phone band,
13:18
Speaker 3: and you've heard me talk about cell phone bands in school.
13:21
Speaker 3: When you hear the term ban, though, I mean and
13:24
Speaker 3: it all depends on how it's gonna play out. I ain't.
13:26
Speaker 3: Ban is kind of a strong word for what most states,
13:29
Speaker 3: there's eight other states that have done this. Ban is
13:33
Speaker 3: really not the right word. So we'll talk about that
13:36
Speaker 3: a little bit later on. Plus we'll go to the
13:38
Speaker 3: capitol and check in with Wilson and Meadows. As we
13:41

Speaker 3: Alexander Post is with Gritz Farm and she joins us. Now, Alexander,
13:51

13:53
Speaker 11: Good morning, Dave, thanks for having me, Thank you.
13:56
Speaker 3: For being here talk about this big event.
13:59
Speaker 11: Yes, absolutely so. We are so excited. We're in the middle,
14:04
Speaker 11: close to the end now of our second annual Tulip
14:07
Speaker 11: Festival here at Chris Farm. We planted two hundred thousand
14:11
Speaker 11: tulips this year, which is double what we planted last year.
14:14
Speaker 11: And you can see the tulips now through the end
14:17
Speaker 11: of this weekend, the thirteen.
14:19
Speaker 3: Yeah, and I kind of I may have alluded to
14:21
Speaker 3: the fact that it's about to start, but it's actually
14:23
Speaker 3: been going on for some time. But you and I
14:24
Speaker 3: talked a couple days ago. You were a little worried
14:27
Speaker 3: about the weather when we talked on Monday, right, Yeah, we.
14:31
Speaker 11: Were a little unsure of what the frost might do
14:34
Speaker 11: to tulips. We didn't have that last year when we
14:38
Speaker 11: were doing the Tulip Fest. So I'm happy to report
14:41
Speaker 11: that the tulips are still standing and in good conditions.
14:44
Speaker 11: So yeah, they are here, they're alive.
14:47
Speaker 3: And well they're alive, and well that's good to hear
14:49
Speaker 3: because with the winner, we've had to wonder anything is growing.
14:52
Speaker 3: It really is. The Dave Allen Show on five eighty

Speaker 11: Two hundreds?
15:13
Speaker 3: Well, well, okay, all right, I was gonna say just
15:15
Speaker 3: go ahead and just keep moving the numbers up. That's
15:17
Speaker 3: a lot of work to get all those out there.
15:19
Speaker 3: Tell me about that process.
15:21
Speaker 11: Yeah, So we started planting them back in November. We
15:25
Speaker 11: knew we wanted to have a bigger past this year,
15:28
Speaker 11: so we planted double what we did last year. And
15:32
Speaker 11: we also have some food and attractions that we're offering

Speaker 3: know you've known me for some time. You know when
15:57
Speaker 3: you mentioned food, you've got me to get. Let's do
16:00
Speaker 3: a deep dive into the food items good talk about that.
16:04
Speaker 11: Yeah, it's good food. I know I might be biased,
16:07
Speaker 11: but it really is awesome. So we have an in
16:10
Speaker 11: house chef that curates all of our food service, and
16:15
Speaker 11: we've got our bakery roll in this weekend, so we've
16:17
Speaker 11: got donuts and cookies and other baked goods and then
16:22
Speaker 11: our pizza, which we just added last year, so it's great.
16:26
Speaker 11: It's made on local dough and we've got some other
16:28
Speaker 11: sweet treats in there too. So if you were curious
16:32
Speaker 11: if you could come out and enjoy some food with Toolips,
16:35
Speaker 11: you definitely can. This weekend.
16:37
Speaker 9: I want to.
16:37
Speaker 3: Talk about Gritz Farm overall, because you know it's I mean,
16:41
Speaker 3: it's just I'm in Kanaw County right now, but I
16:43
Speaker 3: live in Putnam County and we may kind of take
16:45
Speaker 3: it for granted. But but talk about everything as in
16:49
Speaker 3: a hole that goes on there at Gritz Farm because
16:51
Speaker 3: I know that throughout the year you've got activities going on.
16:54
Speaker 3: You might think about it just you know, primarily during
16:57
Speaker 3: the fall, but it's but it's pretty much a year
16:59
Speaker 3: round thing. There's school groups that come in from all
17:01
Speaker 3: over the state to check out all the activities that
17:05
Speaker 3: you got going on there. Just give us the cell
17:07
Speaker 3: job on Gritz Farm.
17:09
Speaker 11: Sure. So we are a three season farm. Currently, we're
17:13
Speaker 11: open from April to the end of October, and right
17:17
Speaker 11: now we're in our tulip in greenhouse season, so we're
17:20
Speaker 11: also open on the farm with tons and tons of
17:23
Speaker 11: spring plants that you can shop. We'll have some produce
17:25
Speaker 11: ready here within the next couple of weeks. We're also
17:28
Speaker 11: located at Capital Market in downtown Charleston if you want
17:31
Speaker 11: to shop with us there. In the summertime, we host
17:35
Speaker 11: special events like farm to table dinners, have lots of produce,
17:38
Speaker 11: and then in the fall we move to that fall
17:41
Speaker 11: festival season that you were talking about, and that's when
17:44
Speaker 11: we have all the school groups come out and the
17:46
Speaker 11: big festival for six to eight weeks. It's just the
17:50
Speaker 11: place totally transforms into a pumpkin wonderland, So it's a
17:54
Speaker 11: place to be in the fall.
17:56
Speaker 3: Give me a ballpark figure and I'm not going to
17:59
Speaker 3: hold you to it. How many people would you think
18:02
Speaker 3: visit Gritz Farm on a yearly basis, So we're.
18:08
Speaker 11: Very proud of the fact that we do see guests
18:11
Speaker 11: that come from all fifty states to visit Grits Farm
18:15
Speaker 11: throughout the year. We love being able to provide just
18:21
Speaker 11: a unique experience for people in all the different seasons.
18:24
Speaker 11: And something I didn't mention is we're actually growing some
18:28
Speaker 11: Christmas trees as well here, so we hope in a
18:31
Speaker 11: couple of years to have some trees for people to
18:33
Speaker 11: come out and cut and maybe do some Christmas events too.
18:36
Speaker 3: It's become though, Gritz Farm is one of the must
18:40
Speaker 3: see destinations when you kind I know a little bit
18:42
Speaker 3: about the tourism partner part of it over there in
18:44
Speaker 3: Putnam County. I mean, it's when people start listing the things,
18:47
Speaker 3: the things that go on in Putnam County and really
18:49
Speaker 3: in this part of the state, Gritz Farm always makes
18:52
Speaker 3: like the top definitely the top three or four things
18:54
Speaker 3: you've got to see if you come to Putnam County.
18:57
Speaker 11: Well, thank you. Yeah, we we don't take that lightly.
19:01
Speaker 11: We try to be better every year. We try new
19:04
Speaker 11: things every year, changing our systems, our flows, seeing what
19:07
Speaker 11: the customers like, what they don't like. That's the most
19:11
Speaker 11: important thing to us is that people are just having
19:13
Speaker 11: a really genuine, authentic good time when they come to
19:16
Speaker 11: Gritz Farm.
19:17
Speaker 3: Talking to Alexandra posts from a Gritz Farm about the
19:20
Speaker 3: Tulip Festival and everything else that's going on out there.

Speaker 3: Morgan Morgan is America's largest injury law firm. All right,
19:32
Speaker 3: give us the details again on the Toolip Festival.
19:36
Speaker 11: Yep, absolutely so. You can come today through Sunday for
19:41
Speaker 11: the official second annual Gritz Farm Toolip Festival. Please visit
19:45
Speaker 11: our website Gritsfarm dot com. We have all of the
19:48
Speaker 11: hours and ticket options. You can purchase tickets at the
19:52
Speaker 11: gate Thursdays and Fridays, but it's online only Saturdays and Sunday,
19:56
Speaker 11: so be sure to check us out online.
19:57
Speaker 3: All right, Alexandra I know you're busy. You gotta get
19:59
Speaker 3: by to work. Somebody's got to take care of those tulips.
20:02
Speaker 3: I guess, go out there and make sure that they're
20:04
Speaker 3: ready to go. And I'm glad they survived because I
20:06
Speaker 3: told the listeners. When you and I talked about this
20:09
Speaker 3: on Monday, you were a little iffy. You were said, well,
20:12
Speaker 3: let me get back because I asked you if you
20:14
Speaker 3: wanted to come on the show. You said, let me
20:15
Speaker 3: get back with you in a day or so. But
20:17
Speaker 3: I'm glad. I'm glad the tulip survived.
20:20
Speaker 11: Yes, yes we are too. They got a little frosty,
20:24
Speaker 11: but they're still here.
20:25
Speaker 3: All right, Good luck with everything. We'll talk to you
20:28
Speaker 3: again soon. Thanks a lot, Alexander Dave. All right, Alexander
20:33
Speaker 3: posted again from the Gritz Farm over in Putnam County.
20:36
Speaker 3: And you know, I guess, and I've lived in that area,
20:40
Speaker 3: not exactly where Gritz Farm is, but on the other
20:41
Speaker 3: end of the county and for eleven years now, and
20:45
Speaker 3: I'm as guilty as anybody else. I didn't realize what
20:48
Speaker 3: a big tourist attraction it was. And the way I
20:50
Speaker 3: found out that it was was when my niece, who
20:55
Speaker 3: was still in high school at the time, told me
20:58
Speaker 3: that she's coming to Grit's Farm and this was, you know,
21:01
Speaker 3: in Logan County, and I'm thinking, why are you coming
21:04
Speaker 3: to Putnam County and she said, well, that's our school
21:08
Speaker 3: goes every year. And then I talked and meet to
21:10
Speaker 3: find folks over there and find out, yeah, that they
21:12
Speaker 3: come from all over the state, all fifty states as
21:14
Speaker 3: a matter of fact, to little old Putndham County for
21:17
Speaker 3: Gritz Farm. The tulip festival is going on, and lots
21:19
Speaker 3: of good food too. That's how you get me there,
21:21
Speaker 3: not the two. I mean, the tulips are, you know,
21:22
Speaker 3: nice and everything, but the food is what's what's going
21:25
Speaker 3: to get me there. Bigley Pickli Wiggly Hotline three zero

21:44
Speaker 3: Visit meets rentals dot com. All right, so I saw
21:48
Speaker 3: some online chatter about this and uh in case you're wondering.
21:54
Speaker 3: I did talk to officials with the City of Charleston
21:58
Speaker 3: about this a little earlier this morning, and I first
22:01
Speaker 3: saw some people talking about it. And just so you know,
22:05
Speaker 3: if you are coming to the town Center in Charlestown,
22:09
Speaker 3: parking is now five dollars. It has been raised. Now,
22:13
Speaker 3: before everyone goes raising all kinds of cane with the city,
22:17
Speaker 3: know that City of Charleston has nothing to do with this.
22:19
Speaker 3: This is not on the good one administration's clock. You know,
22:22
Speaker 3: this is not you know, I was joking with somebody
22:25
Speaker 3: from the city. I said, well, it seems like you
22:26
Speaker 3: folks get blamed for everything. This is not. This is
22:28
Speaker 3: a private it's private building and a private parking. They
22:31
Speaker 3: can they charge whatever they want. But obviously it's it's
22:37
Speaker 3: been a little you know, there's been been some questions
22:39
Speaker 3: raised about the about the price of that.
22:41
Speaker 10: Now.
22:42
Speaker 3: In talking to someone from the city though, as they
22:46
Speaker 3: explained it to me, and again, the city had nothing
22:49
Speaker 3: to do with this, Okay, They just they were just
22:51
Speaker 3: you know, giving me some some background information. Basically said, look,
22:56
Speaker 3: that's kind of in line with what parking at similar facilities,
23:02
Speaker 3: uh is like at similar facilities across the country, and
23:07
Speaker 3: that may or may not be true, because I've visited
23:10
Speaker 3: a lot of shopping malls, but I haven't visited a
23:13
Speaker 3: whole lot that are set up like the Charleston Town
23:15
Speaker 3: Center is in downtown try be You know, the Huntington
23:19
Speaker 3: Mall is the one that comes to mind immediately because
23:21
Speaker 3: it's the other one that's closest to us. You think
23:23
Speaker 3: about maybe some of the some of the shops out
23:26
Speaker 3: at Trace Fork or South Ridge or whatever, and they
23:28
Speaker 3: don't charge, they don't charge for parking, but when you're
23:31
Speaker 3: in a downtown type setting, it's kind of unique. And
23:36
Speaker 3: if you go across the country and you look at
23:38
Speaker 3: the history of the town center, a lot of those
23:41
Speaker 3: malls didn't make it because people didn't want to be
23:46
Speaker 3: downtown anymore. They wanted to be in the suburbs and
23:49
Speaker 3: in the in the areas on the outside of town,
23:52
Speaker 3: much like you know Huntington. You know, the Huntington Mall
23:55
Speaker 3: is not in Huntington. We call it that it's not
23:56
Speaker 3: in Huntington. Uh. And then the and the the the
24:01
Speaker 3: shops at South Ridge and the shops at trace Fork,
24:03
Speaker 3: and you know, they're they're out there, but uh, I
24:07
Speaker 3: guess it just in what I was reading about it yesterday. Uh,
24:11
Speaker 3: And there were a lot of questions asked, But I
24:14
Speaker 3: will tell you that I was at the My wife
24:16
Speaker 3: and I were at the Town Center on Wednesday, Wednesday Saturday.
24:21
Speaker 3: I'm sorry, I got my days mixed up. On Saturday,
24:24
Speaker 3: we had been out running around and we made an
24:26
Speaker 3: appearance over at the home show, and uh, she wanted
24:29
Speaker 3: to go in and check on something in the Town
24:32
Speaker 3: Center and I I was. I was amazed at you know,
24:38
Speaker 3: three o'clock on a Saturday afternoon, and at that time
24:41
Speaker 3: the weather was pretty good, which may hurt mauls. I
24:43
Speaker 3: don't know at the lack of people that were there.
24:47
Speaker 3: There were there were. There was other things besides the
24:51
Speaker 3: home show going on over the coliseum and convention Center.
24:53
Speaker 3: For what I could gather based on the on the
24:56
Speaker 3: appearance and the the the age of the kids, there
24:59
Speaker 3: must have been some st I'm going to say, a
25:00
Speaker 3: cheerleading competition or something to that effect going on over
25:03
Speaker 3: the Colosseum and convention Center. I did see a lot
25:06
Speaker 3: of the I saw a few of those folks, and
25:08
Speaker 3: I saw people kind of as I sat on a
25:10
Speaker 3: bench as most old guys do while they wait for
25:12
Speaker 3: their wives. Inside. I sat there and I watched people
25:16
Speaker 3: walking in and you could tell they were from out
25:19
Speaker 3: of town and just kind of looking around as if
25:23
Speaker 3: to say, what happened here? You know what happened? And
25:26
Speaker 3: we all remember, I guess the town centers in its
25:31
Speaker 3: heyday in the nineteen eighties and nineties. I mean, I
25:34
Speaker 3: knew people, you know from southern West Virginia where I'm from,
25:39
Speaker 3: that would make two to three trips a week to
25:42
Speaker 3: the town center. And it was definitely a weekend destination Saturday, Sunday,
25:46
Speaker 3: go have dinner, you know, go go to the big
25:49
Speaker 3: stores at the malls and things of that nature. But
25:52
Speaker 3: getting back to the thing here, the raising of the
25:55
Speaker 3: of the price to five dollars, it's I mean, I
25:59
Speaker 3: guess the big question. And I'm not trying to be
26:00
Speaker 3: critical to them, because I want all businesses to do well.
26:03
Speaker 3: But my big question would be, you know, for what.
26:08
Speaker 3: And that's not a slam on the businesses that are there,
26:10
Speaker 3: because they're doing the best they can. But anytime Starbucks
26:14
Speaker 3: goes out, and I'm not a Starbucks proponent, I prefer
26:17
Speaker 3: my coffee to be local.
26:19
Speaker 12: Uh, But.
26:21
Speaker 3: You know it's it's a pretty bad situation. And and
26:24
Speaker 3: we've talked about I've been doing this show for five
26:26
Speaker 3: years and we've talked about it, you know, at least
26:29
Speaker 3: once a week about saving the Charleston Town Center. And
26:34
Speaker 3: you know it's not and Mayor Goodwin and I have
26:36
Speaker 3: talked about it when she's on the show. It's not
26:38
Speaker 3: going to be. Everybody says, what if you bring in
26:41
Speaker 3: X store that'll save the town Center. That's not happening.
26:44
Speaker 3: It's not gonna happen. A former co worker of mine here,
26:47
Speaker 3: former producer of the show, give her a big shout out. Kaitlin.
26:52
Speaker 3: Caitlyn Murphy was all about bringing David Busters and I
26:55
Speaker 3: love Caitlyn to death, but that wouldn't have saved the
26:58
Speaker 3: town Center. One single entity is not going to save
27:01
Speaker 3: a mall. And uh So in anybody that says that
27:07
Speaker 3: malls are dead, I think you're dead wrong, because go
27:12
Speaker 3: to the Huntington Mall now on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Uh,
27:16
Speaker 3: malls are not dead. Maybe that there will always be
27:20
Speaker 3: those people that want to look around, especially people who
27:24
Speaker 3: come from towns like we see in various portions of
27:29
Speaker 3: West Virginia. That come to town for state baseball tournament,
27:32
Speaker 3: are come, you know, for some other activity. They come
27:35
Speaker 3: in and they don't have those things in their town.
27:37
Speaker 3: They don't have these stores, and they just like to
27:41
Speaker 3: look around. And there's always going to be a market
27:43
Speaker 3: for people who want to look round, just want to
27:46
Speaker 3: look around. And we know what online shopping has done
27:50
Speaker 3: to two malls and to Mama Pops in general, but
27:54
Speaker 3: there's always a market for them. But I don't know
27:56
Speaker 3: what the answer to the Town Center is. Again, one
28:00
Speaker 3: single entity is not gonna save it. It's not. And
28:04
Speaker 3: the perception of crime in the Town Center really doesn't
28:10
Speaker 3: meet reality. I mean, if you look at the at
28:12
Speaker 3: the figures, and I'm not saying there's not been issues
28:14
Speaker 3: with car break ins and things of that nature and
28:17
Speaker 3: homeless and whatever the Town Center, because there has been.
28:19
Speaker 3: But if you look at the actual statistics, they they
28:22
Speaker 3: don't bear that out. But that's any more of a
28:24
Speaker 3: problem than it is in another mall, like a Huntington
28:26
Speaker 3: mall for example. So I don't know what the answer is,
28:30
Speaker 3: but do know if you're gonna go to the Town Center,
28:32
Speaker 3: you're gonna pay five bucks to park there. Tech says Dave,
28:36
Speaker 3: you're telling us that people have to pay five dollars
28:39
Speaker 3: three dollars more to park in the town center's crumbling, jankie, unsafe,
28:42
Speaker 3: stinky parking garage for what to shop at a ninety
28:45
Speaker 3: percent empty mall. Big thanks to the price raisers and
28:48
Speaker 3: the new owners of the parking garage, says a text.
28:51
Speaker 3: Well it's their place, you know, it's America. You can

31:56
Speaker 3: happened to get a text that said, while no one
31:59
Speaker 3: was at the town Center Saturday afternoon, it was very
32:01
Speaker 3: I'm sure he wouldn't care for me telling you this.
32:03
Speaker 3: It was very busy and we had a huge day
32:05
Speaker 3: in our store, so says the idiot Taylor, Tony the Taylor.
32:09
Speaker 3: And it's an inside joke with Tony the Taylor and myself.
32:11
Speaker 3: But yeah, so downtown Charleston's doing pretty well. And if
32:15
Speaker 3: you talk to the businesses down there, not all but many,
32:18
Speaker 3: I mean, Tony's doing pretty dang good. Of course, he's
32:20
Speaker 3: taken a lot of my money these days. So there
32:23
Speaker 3: you go. But Dave Island showing five Eddieline Brownhoe part

32:36
Speaker 3: cave on tariffs. He had no other choice. He was
32:39
Speaker 3: losing his support and it was going to crash the economy.
32:43
Speaker 3: He doesn't know what he's doing, it says a texture,
32:47
Speaker 3: you know, And much like everything else in the political landscape,
32:51
Speaker 3: that is twenty twenty five, no matter what happens, there's
32:55
Speaker 3: going to be a spin on it. And yesterday that
32:59
Speaker 3: news broke while Amanda and I were doing Metro News
33:01
Speaker 3: midday cheap Plug yesterday, and the text line started lighting
33:08
Speaker 3: up your social media. Your favorite news outlet probably was
33:12
Speaker 3: all about it last night, saying Trump won, Trump lost,
33:16
Speaker 3: Trump cave. Trump's the greatest thing ever, he goes. That's
33:20
Speaker 3: just where we are right now. That's just where we are.
33:22
Speaker 3: So if you're not a Trump fan, and or if
33:26
Speaker 3: you're very very anti Trump, if you're very anti Trump,
33:29
Speaker 3: you're going to think that yesterday was a total disaster
33:32
Speaker 3: that he got embarrassed. But if you are a Trump fan,
33:34
Speaker 3: you're going to think it was the greatest thing ever.
33:36
Speaker 3: And that's that's just where we are. Ain't gonna change it.
33:40
Speaker 3: That is society today. That says Capitol More and Justice
33:45
Speaker 3: supported the destruction of our state and country just to
33:47
Speaker 3: get rich. Oh, texasays Dave. Despite being our state capital,
33:54
Speaker 3: Charleston is a medium sized suburb. No remaining mall in
33:57
Speaker 3: suburban America charges five dollars to park. This fee is
34:01
Speaker 3: to pay the suckers who bought this crumbling garage. It
34:03
Speaker 3: is an embarrassment, says a texture. TEXTA says, raising rates
34:08
Speaker 3: one hundred fifty percent means raising income the same but
34:11
Speaker 3: basic money grab to take advantage of Civic Center patrons.
34:14
Speaker 3: Well there's other options. You don't have to park there.
34:16
Speaker 3: You can park other places if you want. But I
34:19
Speaker 3: understand one hundred percent what the texture is saying. Uh, Texas, Dave.
34:24
Speaker 3: You're saying that the town Center garage the smells of sewer,
34:26
Speaker 3: that has shaky dark elevators, that's upper decks have waves
34:29
Speaker 3: in the concrete, that security is scarce to non existent,
34:32
Speaker 3: that it's connected to a floundery mall is properly priced
34:35
Speaker 3: because others are price similar. No no, no, no, no,
34:37
Speaker 3: no no no, That's not what I'm saying at all.
34:39
Speaker 3: I'm saying similar malls. I'm saying that malls that are
34:43
Speaker 3: built and constructed like the Town Center charge similar things.
34:48
Speaker 3: I'm not saying ones that are in as bad as shape.
34:51
Speaker 3: And if I didn't make that clear, that's on me.
34:53
Speaker 3: I'm not saying ones that are in that bad of
34:55
Speaker 3: shape like the town Center is. I'm not saying that
34:59
Speaker 3: at all. I'm just saying well constructed ones, ones that
35:02
Speaker 3: don't have a lot of the issues, the construction issues
35:05
Speaker 3: and so on, those are charging that amount for downtown.
35:09
Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. I'm not I'm not I'm not
35:11
Speaker 3: giving the owners here a past. No, that's that's that's
35:13
Speaker 3: That's not what I'm saying at all. Tex says day
35:18
Speaker 3: most of the people that parked them all worked downtown.
35:20
Speaker 3: At two dollars a day. It was the cheapest option,
35:22
Speaker 3: but now will be cheaper to pay monthly parking in
35:24
Speaker 3: a city own garage. I would say town center parking
35:28
Speaker 3: will be on the losing end. Tech says Trump is
35:32
Speaker 3: pumping and dumping the market, presumably manipulating the market for
35:35
Speaker 3: insider trading, and no one is doing anything about it.
35:38
Speaker 3: Goodbye market credibility. Somebody pointed out to me, and this
35:42
Speaker 3: is a TJ. Meadows thing. He's the financial guru in
35:44
Speaker 3: these parts, not me, but about the whole manipulating the
35:49
Speaker 3: market that the president did. Now, I don't know whether
35:51
Speaker 3: he did or not. I'm just saying that's that was
35:53
Speaker 3: pointed out to me something I was reading last night
35:56
Speaker 3: and a reference to Martha Stewart was made and her
36:00
Speaker 3: time in Alderson in there. Coming up on tomorrow's show Friday,
36:04

36:49
Speaker 3: of course open line West Virginia nothing but your calls
36:51

36:54
Speaker 3: Selango Law airs noon to three on this and many
36:56
Speaker 3: other Metro news stations around the state. I'm going to
37:00
Speaker 3: get into this a little bit further on Metro News
37:02
Speaker 3: Midday later today, and I'm sure the boys at the
37:04
Speaker 3: Capitol talk about it as well. The discussion of micro
37:07
Speaker 3: grids continues today now. The House gabbles in at nine
37:10
Speaker 3: this morning, the Senate at ten, and sessions are expected
37:12
Speaker 3: to go way long today as they normally do as
37:15
Speaker 3: we head towards the end. Aaron Parker has a story
37:17
Speaker 3: posted about it this morning wv Metronews dot com with
37:20
Speaker 3: some developments from his story. You've heard that some legislators,
37:26
Speaker 3: Senator Rupy Phillips among them, aren't exactly sold on micro grids,
37:30
Speaker 3: and some county officials aren't either, mainly because they are
37:36
Speaker 3: concerned about funding to the counties that could be lost.
37:41
Speaker 3: There have been several county commissioners from around the state
37:45
Speaker 3: that have spoken out against the micro grids, and I
37:47
Speaker 3: spoke to one county commissioner who did not want to
37:50
Speaker 3: do an interview about it, but said, this is a
37:53
Speaker 3: quote from this particular county commissioner that the folks, the
37:57
Speaker 3: county commissioners that were upset at the capitol and pro
38:00
Speaker 3: testing this, we're just wasting their time. His words, not mine.
38:07
Speaker 3: And so there are some local groups that are against
38:11
Speaker 3: it too. I had a conversation with guests of this
38:15
Speaker 3: show from time to time. Morgan Tenny from the Putnam
38:18
Speaker 3: County Development Authority, and we are working on getting her
38:21
Speaker 3: on the show, either either on talkline or on Metro
38:25
Speaker 3: News Midday with a man did me later today. I
38:27
Speaker 3: did talk to Morgan the Development Authority a little bit
38:30
Speaker 3: earlier this morning. She was fighting on being at the capitol.
38:32
Speaker 3: So expect to hear her on either talk line or
38:37
Speaker 3: on the Metro News midday show, or a combination of both.
38:42
Speaker 3: And she and some other folks are a little bit worried.
38:46
Speaker 3: I don't say upset, they're a little bit worried about
38:47
Speaker 3: it too. So we'll see what happens between now and
38:49
Speaker 3: the midnight hour on Saturday. Brad McElhenny writes about this
38:53
Speaker 3: one on the website. The Senate yesterday passed a bill
38:58
Speaker 3: that would pretty much keep cell phones, or at least
39:01
Speaker 3: as they are now, out of West Virginia classrooms now
39:05
Speaker 3: again not a total band. Don't get all upset parents,
39:09
Speaker 3: and I say parents because it's parents and are more
39:10
Speaker 3: upset about what the kids are. The Senate passed at
39:13
Speaker 3: thirty three to one. The House had passed it back
39:16
Speaker 3: in March. Senate Education Chair Amy Grady, who is an
39:20
Speaker 3: elementary school teacher, spoke out about it and she said,
39:26
Speaker 3: and you can read this in Brad story. She had
39:27
Speaker 3: some apprehension about it at first, but had a little
39:29
Speaker 3: bit of a change of hearts on the band. Eight
39:33
Speaker 3: states have similar bands, by the way, and it's all
39:39
Speaker 3: in the details here on a cell phone band. So
39:42
Speaker 3: calm down, helicopter parents, it's not a complete band. It
39:47
Speaker 3: would limit the use of cell phones and other such
39:53
Speaker 3: devices in the classroom during instructional time. And it would
39:59
Speaker 3: man eight that county boards put in some into place
40:05
Speaker 3: some sort of policies for the upcoming school year and
40:09
Speaker 3: requiring counties to document offenses to the West Virginia Education
40:14
Speaker 3: Information System. It does allow phones to be confiscated for
40:22
Speaker 3: repeat offenders. Now there are some exceptions to that among
40:27
Speaker 3: those students who have medical conditions that have to have
40:30
Speaker 3: their phones to monitor them, think severe diabetics and things
40:32
Speaker 3: of that nature. This bill was introduced on behalf of
40:36
Speaker 3: the governor. Now, again, the devil's in the details. How
40:40
Speaker 3: if it's passed, how exactly it's all going to play out,
40:44
Speaker 3: No one knows yet because again it all depends on enforcement. Now,
40:49
Speaker 3: think back to when you were in school. I am
40:51
Speaker 3: a frequent gum chewer, always have been. Remember when you
40:56
Speaker 3: were in school, and supposedly you weren't supposed to have
40:59
Speaker 3: gum in school, but teachers care and some didn't. And
41:01
Speaker 3: you know what, teachers really enforced it, others didn't. I
41:04
Speaker 3: presume it will be the same way with phones.
41:09
Speaker 10: Uh.
41:09
Speaker 3: There is talk that it would be done the way
41:14
Speaker 3: it is done in some other states. That and this
41:18
Speaker 3: is just one idea of being floated around that when
41:20
Speaker 3: when the bell rings instructional time begins, teachers take role
41:23
Speaker 3: if they still do that sort of thing, I don't know. Uh,
41:26
Speaker 3: And they students when they come in a classroom would
41:30
Speaker 3: be asked to put their phones in a locked case.
41:34
Speaker 3: They would be these are individual cases. Uh, and this
41:37
Speaker 3: is what's and I don't want to say, this is
41:39
Speaker 3: definitely what's going to happen. This is what's gone on
41:41
Speaker 3: in other states. They have these locked cases, you know,
41:45
Speaker 3: see through, and every student has a number you put
41:48
Speaker 3: the phone when you walk in, you drop it into
41:50
Speaker 3: the case. Uh, it's locked, teacher, and it's out there, teach.
41:54
Speaker 3: The students can still see the phones and things of
41:56
Speaker 3: that nature. Uh, that's what's that's what's done in the other states.
42:00
Speaker 3: But you know, who knows how it's all going to
42:03
Speaker 3: work out. It is interesting though, and I've done a
42:05
Speaker 3: lot of research on this that the states that have
42:09
Speaker 3: banned the phones. I know it's going to be shocking. Here,
42:13
Speaker 3: it's the parents that had a harder time dealing with
42:17
Speaker 3: it than the kids did. Everybody thinks, well, kids can't
42:21
Speaker 3: survive without their phone. No, no, no. In other states,
42:24
Speaker 3: it's been mommy and daddy that can't survive without the
42:30
Speaker 3: kid having the phone. They had a much harder time
42:32
Speaker 3: with it. And they've done interviews with kids who have
42:34
Speaker 3: said that they said, yeah, it was shocking at first,
42:36
Speaker 3: but once they got used to it, they were fine
42:39
Speaker 3: with it. It's mommy and daddy that's the problem here
42:41
Speaker 3: more so than it is the kids, because for some reason,
42:47
Speaker 3: they feel like they need to be connected to their
42:49
Speaker 3: kids all all day for some reason. And then you
42:53
Speaker 3: wonder when they become adults, why they can't function on
42:56
Speaker 3: their own and why is a parent you're still paying
42:59
Speaker 3: car payments of of twenty five year olds. In all
43:03
Speaker 3: seriousness seriousness, Senator Grady had some interesting stats. The average
43:09
Speaker 3: team gets two hundred and thirty seven notifications per day
43:17
Speaker 3: on their cell phone. The average team spends two hours
43:24
Speaker 3: per day while at school on their phones, and we
43:31
Speaker 3: wonder why we continue to fall behind all other industrialized countries.

46:50
Speaker 3: of the garage? Well, in my conversations earlier today there
46:53
Speaker 3: was some talk about cure. That's the Charleston Urban Renewal Authority.
46:56
Speaker 3: They're out of it. It is an entity and again
46:59
Speaker 3: they that he doesn't own it. An entity created. This
47:03
Speaker 3: is what I'm told by the old bond holders bought
47:05
Speaker 3: the garage at auction so they own and operate the
47:08
Speaker 3: two garages that are connected to the mall. The owner
47:11
Speaker 3: of the Marriott owns the garage beside his or her
47:14
Speaker 3: particular hotel. So there is that Texas President Trump has
47:23
Speaker 3: done more for America than any other presidents in my lifetime.
47:26
Speaker 3: This is common sense and everyone knows this. According to
47:30
Speaker 3: a text, tex says, it's not for quote some reason,
47:34
Speaker 3: parents want to be connected to their kids at school
47:36
Speaker 3: in case there's a shooting. Until that stops, the cell
47:38
Speaker 3: phone thing should not change. Well, it's going to change.
47:41
Speaker 3: It's going to change definitely. But again we're only talking
47:44
Speaker 3: about during instructional time. And you know, I try to
47:48
Speaker 3: put my and again, I get this all the time.
47:51
Speaker 3: I'm not a parent, and I get that. But if
47:56
Speaker 3: there is God forbid a school shooting, I mean, I'm
48:01
Speaker 3: thinking you'd probably want to be remain as quiet as possible.
48:03
Speaker 3: I don't know that you want to be picking up
48:05
Speaker 3: the phone. I'm just saying, every and every shooting shooting
48:07
Speaker 3: is different. I get that. I understand the concern. Okay,
48:12
Speaker 3: I really really do. I understand the concern that parents have.
48:16
Speaker 3: But again, as has been in other states, it's the
48:18
Speaker 3: kids aren't the one that have problem with this. It's
48:20
Speaker 3: it's the parents. It's the parents that don't want to
48:23
Speaker 3: let go. And I know I'm the old guy. I
48:26
Speaker 3: realized that. But I grew up in a time when
48:29
Speaker 3: when I got on the bus at seven fifteen, seven
48:32
Speaker 3: thirty Morney, I didn't talk to my parents at all
48:35
Speaker 3: until three or three thirty in the afternoon. Now you
48:37
Speaker 3: can say times have changed, yes they have. There you
48:41
Speaker 3: didn't hear about school shootings of the nineteen seventies and
48:43
Speaker 3: eighties when I was in school like you do now.
48:45
Speaker 3: There were school shootings. There were, make no mistake about it,
48:48
Speaker 3: but not not like they are now. And I and
48:51
Speaker 3: I will, I will grant you that, but I just
48:55
Speaker 3: I just don't feel that you're that again, not a parent.
48:59
Speaker 3: I don't think that you're doing your kids any favors
49:01
Speaker 3: by remaining connected to them all all day. I just
49:05
Speaker 3: don't think And it's I mean again, this is you're
49:07
Speaker 3: an instructional time they're talking about Talk to any teacher
49:10
Speaker 3: about this. And I will say this because somebody pointed
49:13
Speaker 3: it out on a previous show to me, and I
49:16
Speaker 3: saw this firsthand when I was in state government, and
49:18
Speaker 3: I used to go into schools and used to talk
49:22
Speaker 3: to kids and talk to classes the teachers. Teachers are
49:26
Speaker 3: going to also have to buy into this by not
49:28
Speaker 3: being on their phones as well. I can't tell you
49:30
Speaker 3: the number of times when I was talking to a
49:33
Speaker 3: class when I was in state government, I was talking
49:35
Speaker 3: to them about civic engagement and voting that I was
49:38
Speaker 3: having a little problem with the kid in the back,
49:40
Speaker 3: and then mainly was because the teacher was on Facebook
49:43
Speaker 3: or on TikTok. If that was the thing, then So yeah, teachers,
49:47
Speaker 3: teachers got some work to do too, uh tex says
49:53
Speaker 3: uh Ooh okay, it's a news tip. I'll have to
49:57
Speaker 3: get that to Jeff and the news department. Thank you
49:59
Speaker 3: very much. Let me see, Texas parents are still covering
50:04
Speaker 3: car insurance, rent, another cost of living for twenty five
50:07
Speaker 3: year olds because wages have not kept up with prices
50:09
Speaker 3: and the Richmond consolidated all wealth. Good job, Republicans, you
50:12
Speaker 3: have screwed an entire generation. Remember this, young people. Republicans
50:15
Speaker 3: will never vote to increased minimum wage, cap mortgage costs,
50:18
Speaker 3: reduce health insurance premiums, or anything else that will make
50:21
Speaker 3: your life less expensive. They will say the free market
50:23
Speaker 3: is a solution. Yeah, how that's worked out for you? Well,
50:26
Speaker 3: it worked out pretty well for my generation. I can't
50:28
Speaker 3: imagine being that age and having my parents pay my bills.
50:31
Speaker 3: I can't. Let me see, Dave, the parents can't depend
50:37
Speaker 3: on the government to notify or protect her their children
50:39
Speaker 3: from shootings. The phone gives them a tool to call
50:42
Speaker 3: nine to one one to let them know their location
50:44
Speaker 3: in case of emergency. Cell phone, says a textra have
50:47
Speaker 3: ruined society. Folks would trip and follow the Grand Canyon
50:51
Speaker 3: because they never saw it coming. Well that's true of
50:53
Speaker 3: adults as well, not just teenagers. Let's go to the
50:56
Speaker 3: Capitol and let's talk to mister Wilson and mister Meadows. Hey, guys,
51:01
Speaker 3: how you doing. Man, you were on a roll there
51:03
Speaker 3: with the texters, Dave. You know, I say things and
51:06
Speaker 3: people react. That's what we do.
51:07
Speaker 9: Are they worked up on the cell phone? Yeah, yeah for.
51:10
Speaker 3: The most part. And the five dollar parking at the
51:12
Speaker 3: town center, Oh that's uncalled for. I don't know, is
51:17
Speaker 3: it five bucks to park at the town So they
51:19
Speaker 3: just raised the price. Yeah, it's it's five bucks now
51:21
Speaker 3: to park at the town.
51:22
Speaker 8: I mean, there's no stores to go to get money somewhere.
51:24
Speaker 3: There's a few. There's a few, all right, all right,
51:27
Speaker 3: So yeah, I got people worked up on the cell
51:29
Speaker 3: phones because that's what I do, all right. So what
51:32
Speaker 3: do you guys getting people worked up about over at
51:35
Speaker 3: capital today?
51:35
Speaker 8: Well, we're going to talk about the bill that reorganizes
51:39
Speaker 8: the Board of Governors for colleges and universities across the state,
51:42
Speaker 8: taking away the voting privileges for students, faculty, and staff.
51:45
Speaker 8: Senator Mike Wolfe was going to join us because he
51:48
Speaker 8: said the quiet part out loud during yesterday's Senate floor session.
51:52
Speaker 8: We'll talk to him about that a little bit later.
51:54
Speaker 8: Bill Lee will not buy he's asking the pe or
51:57
Speaker 8: he's asking the state board for a resolution on p E.
51:59
Speaker 8: I A wells him about the cell phone band bill
52:01
Speaker 8: as well, Brad. At some point, things are kind of
52:05
Speaker 8: fluctuating here at the Capitol in the closing days of
52:09
Speaker 8: the session. So we'll have all of that, and who
52:11
Speaker 8: knows what else the show?
52:13
Speaker 3: Am I going to be on the show today? You
52:14
Speaker 3: said you might need me because it's the possibility. I
52:16
Speaker 3: got plan possibility, I got plans. What plans could you have?
52:19
Speaker 3: I got a show in the afternoon. Now, man, I'm
52:21
Speaker 3: and I'm with the you know I got, I'm in here,
52:23
Speaker 3: I'm in hair and makeup between ten and now.
52:25
Speaker 8: Speaking of that, by the way, I got confused for
52:27
Speaker 8: you again today.
52:28
Speaker 3: All right, ten seconds go. Oh it happened again. Somebody
52:31
Speaker 3: can guess.
52:32
Speaker 8: Somebody went, are you Dave Allen for the evermore?
52:36
Speaker 9: No?
52:36
Speaker 3: Well, you know, all I say is like, no, I'm
52:39
Speaker 3: the good looking when he's the out of them. All Right,
52:41
Speaker 3: cut is Mike, cut is Mike. We're done. I'll see
52:44
Speaker 3: you later today and I'll see you tomorrow. Until then,
52:46
Speaker 3: have fun and love somebody.
53:00
Speaker 2: You s A S A M.
53:01
Speaker 13: Six point five. That's on Charleston one O four point
