- 0:24Well, hello there, everyone, and welcome once again
- 0:28to the ever-popular Inspirations for Your Life
- 0:30show.
- 0:31It is so great to be with everyone
- 0:33today.
- 0:34Hopefully you have had a wonderful weekend and
- 0:39you did some great things.
- 0:41So yes, great to have you here.
- 0:44And this is our second day in, yes,
- 0:49our master series, because, you know, we start
- 0:53on Saturday and then we roll through the
- 0:54week and we go through to Saturday.
- 0:58So yes, so great to be with everyone
- 1:01here.
- 1:02We'll get to our show here in just
- 1:03a moment.
- 1:04But on days like today, we like to
- 1:07do something special, which is Sundays and Thursdays,
- 1:10we actually do a shout-out to some
- 1:14local businesses.
- 1:16And so, you know, what we try to
- 1:18do is we try to do this in
- 1:20the effort to build community.
- 1:22That's why we do it.
- 1:23We give a shout-out to them in
- 1:26the hope that they're going to reach back
- 1:27out to us.
- 1:28Now, it doesn't cost them any money to
- 1:31reach out to us, but what we're hoping
- 1:33they'll do is they'll go to jasonacademy.com
- 1:36and they will go ahead and, well, basically
- 1:40allow us to come into their facility so
- 1:44they can host us for a free Inspirations
- 1:47of Your Life live show.
- 1:49And once we do that, we will also
- 1:53interview them, we'll have an author talk, and
- 1:56it's kind of cool, you know, what we
- 1:59do here.
- 2:00And then after that, we do an author
- 2:02signing.
- 2:03So I hope that some of you will
- 2:06take advantage of that.
- 2:07So right now, what I want to do
- 2:09is I want to reach out to this
- 2:13business today.
- 2:14And the business we've chosen is Blush Brew
- 2:18Coffee.
- 2:19They're located in New Jersey.
- 2:22They're actually located, well, right here in Hawthorne,
- 2:27New Jersey.
- 2:27And so Blush Brew Coffee, they're a mobile
- 2:32coffee trailer serving handcrafted drinks with, they claim,
- 2:36a girly elevated twist.
- 2:38They say to think coffee, but make it
- 2:40cute.
- 2:41From the signature lattes to refreshing special drinks,
- 2:44they're here to bring good vibes, great coffee,
- 2:47and a little sparkle to your day.
- 2:48So even though they don't have a place,
- 2:50they're a truck, we're more than happy to
- 2:52do a live show wherever they're parked somewhere.
- 2:55So yes, somewhere we can bring community together.
- 2:57So again, shout out to you guys.
- 3:00Welcome.
- 3:00I hope you'll check out jasonacademy.com.
- 3:02If you're in the area, definitely check out
- 3:05Blush Brew Coffee Company wherever they are.
- 3:10Again, they're a truck, and I guess they're
- 3:13around.
- 3:13I don't have an exact address where they're
- 3:14going to be next, but just wanted to
- 3:16give a shout out to them.
- 3:18So guys, yes, if you're thirsty or hungry,
- 3:21feel free to go grab yourself something.
- 3:22I have my cup of tea here.
- 3:27Pretty good.
- 3:28So ladies and gentlemen, I want to tell
- 3:29you something.
- 3:30I want to tell you that it's important
- 3:31that you become the version of you that
- 3:36you want to be a better version of
- 3:37yourself.
- 3:38And I know a lot of you are
- 3:39probably saying to me, John, I don't know
- 3:42how to do that.
- 3:43And that's fine if you don't know how
- 3:44to do that.
- 3:46That's why we're here, to help you become
- 3:49a better version of yourself.
- 3:51You can actually check out, guys, after the
- 3:53show is over, you can actually check out
- 3:56BelieveMeAchieved.com, of course, from where my amazing,
- 4:00inspiring creations.
- 4:01You can do that later.
- 4:02But guys, let's get into the show, all
- 4:04right?
- 4:05Building a life you don't need to escape
- 4:07from, series 5, show 34.
- 4:10That is what this whole week is about.
- 4:13Protect the energy that makes you feel alive.
- 4:17Series 5, show 34, episode number 2.
- 4:19That is our granular topic for today.
- 4:22All right, everyone.
- 4:23Welcome, once again, to the Inspirations for Your
- 4:25Life show.
- 4:26If you've been here before, well, I would
- 4:29love to say welcome back and thank you
- 4:31so much for being here.
- 4:32It's your first time here.
- 4:33Of course, welcome and thank you as well.
- 4:36Hey, everyone.
- 4:37I'm John C.
- 4:38Morley, serial entrepreneur, in case you did not
- 4:41know.
- 4:41An engineer, marketing specialist, video producer, podcast host,
- 4:46coach, keynote speaker, a graduate student at Montclair
- 4:50State University, a passionate lifelong learner, and so
- 4:55grateful now to be a published author.
- 4:58Yes, guys.
- 4:59Welcome.
- 4:59Your energy, guys, affects everything.
- 5:02I don't know if you know that, but
- 5:04it really does.
- 5:05It influences how you think, how you communicate,
- 5:10how you work, how you respond to challenges,
- 5:14and how much of your life you actually
- 5:16enjoy.
- 5:17Yet, we often protect our money, possessions, and
- 5:21schedules more carefully than we protect our energy.
- 5:26Today isn't about avoiding responsibility or pretending difficult
- 5:32situations don't exist.
- 5:34No, it's about becoming more intentional about what
- 5:39receives access to you.
- 5:41Let's explore 30 ways to protect the energy
- 5:44that makes you feel alive.
- 5:45Now, not to pick on one person, but
- 5:48we've all had somebody before that's kind of
- 5:51did something, said this, said that, but you
- 5:53know what happens?
- 5:54They really don't come through.
- 5:56They don't follow through.
- 5:57Maybe they're too busy.
- 5:59Who knows what it is, but it doesn't
- 6:00really matter.
- 6:01The point is you don't want to give
- 6:03people like that access to your life, because
- 6:05if you do, it's going to drain you,
- 6:07and you're going to expect something, and guess
- 6:09what happens?
- 6:10Well, they're not going to be able to
- 6:11help you.
- 6:13Yeah, and you're going to be frustrated.
- 6:15So that is a big problem.
- 6:17Number one, guys, learn where your energy disappears.
- 6:21Learn where your energy disappears.
- 6:25Pay attention to the moments that consistently leave
- 6:30you drained.
- 6:31We know those.
- 6:32Certain activities, conversations, habits, or environments may be
- 6:36consuming far more energy than you actually realize.
- 6:40You can't protect something until you understand where
- 6:43it's going.
- 6:45Number two, guys, stop giving everything equal importance.
- 6:49Not every request, inconvenience, notification, or problem deserves
- 6:54the same amount of attention.
- 6:57Decide what genuinely matters and allow smaller things
- 7:01to remain smaller.
- 7:03Number three, recognize emotional exhaustion.
- 7:08Early, early, because it'll save you from burnout.
- 7:11Don't wait until you're completely depleted before admitting
- 7:15you're tired.
- 7:16Like, don't wait to get a drink until
- 7:19you're, like, so dehydrated you can barely walk.
- 7:23Notice changes in patience, concentration, enthusiasm, and the
- 7:28mood around you.
- 7:29Early awareness gives you an opportunity to adjust.
- 7:33That's key, guys.
- 7:34Number four, protect yourself from unnecessary negativity.
- 7:38You can't eliminate every negative situation or vibe,
- 7:42but you don't have to voluntarily surround yourself
- 7:45with negativity.
- 7:46If it exists, just excuse yourself from it.
- 7:49You don't have to be rude.
- 7:51Be selective about what repeatedly enters your mind.
- 7:55When somebody says, oh, we're going to help
- 7:57you, we're going to support you.
- 7:58But then they fall off the earth.
- 8:01Don't lose heart.
- 8:02Just see it for what it is.
- 8:05And detach yourself from those people.
- 8:10Number five, notice which environments drain you.
- 8:14Some environments leave you energized, while others consistently
- 8:19just exhaust you.
- 8:21Notice the difference.
- 8:23Your surroundings, ladies and gentlemen, this is key.
- 8:25Your surroundings influence your mental and emotional state
- 8:31more than you may realize.
- 8:33Number six, spend energy where it creates something.
- 8:39Invest energy in work, relationships, learning, creativity, problem
- 8:43-solving, and experiences that produce something meaningful.
- 8:49Energy becomes valuable when it helps something worthwhile
- 8:52grow.
- 8:54That's key, guys.
- 8:55Number seven, stop carrying everybody else's urgency.
- 8:59There's no need for it.
- 9:00And people will let you, and it'll just
- 9:01drain you.
- 9:02Someone else's emergency doesn't automatically have to become
- 9:07yours.
- 9:09Determine what actually requires immediate attention, all right,
- 9:13immediate attention, before allowing another person's urgency to
- 9:18control your day.
- 9:20All right, that's a key thing, guys.
- 9:21A really, really, a really, really key thing.
- 9:24So number eight, give your mind recovery time.
- 9:29Your brain needs periods when it isn't constantly
- 9:33solving, reacting, processing, or deciding.
- 9:37Give yourself opportunities to mentally recover without feeling
- 9:41guilty about them.
- 9:43Number nine, identify what restores you, what genuinely
- 9:49brings your energy back.
- 9:51It could be quiet time, exercise, music, nature,
- 9:56reading, creating conversation, or simply being away from
- 10:01constant stimulation.
- 10:03Learn what works for you, okay.
- 10:07Number 10, stop confusing exhaustion with accomplishment.
- 10:13Being completely exhausted doesn't automatically mean you had
- 10:18a successful day.
- 10:20Results matter more than proving how depleted you
- 10:24can become while producing them, all right.
- 10:27This is important, and I'm telling you this
- 10:30stuff because I care.
- 10:31This isn't me trying to, you know, tell
- 10:33you what to do, but this is me
- 10:35explaining that we have to give ourself time.
- 10:40If we don't, that can become, you know,
- 10:43a very, very big problem, a really, really
- 10:47big problem.
- 10:48So I want to tell you that honestly.
- 10:57I think that's important to understand, okay.
- 11:02And I know a lot of you are
- 11:03saying, John, I don't get it, right.
- 11:08I think sometimes people, like for whatever reason,
- 11:14they get confused, okay.
- 11:18They get confused, and then that causes them
- 11:21to be depleted.
- 11:22Number 11, guys, protect your enthusiasm.
- 11:26It's precious.
- 11:28Enthusiasm is valuable.
- 11:29Don't continually expose your excitement to people who
- 11:32immediately dismiss every idea or explain why nothing
- 11:36will work.
- 11:37I'll give you an example.
- 11:38I was talking to a neighbor a few
- 11:41weeks ago, and I was, you know, coming
- 11:44back from a hike, and I was really
- 11:45excited about it.
- 11:47And you know what they said to me?
- 11:49Oh, John, you told us about your hike
- 11:51last time.
- 11:54And I had a few words.
- 11:55I didn't want to say anything.
- 11:56And I said, well, this was different.
- 11:58You know, this was a different situation at
- 12:00the time.
- 12:00And they didn't really give a darn, right.
- 12:03So don't expect other people to kowtow or
- 12:07to have the same joys you do.
- 12:09When you dismiss them and you don't expect
- 12:13anything, you're better off.
- 12:15If they surprise you, great.
- 12:17But don't be waiting for them.
- 12:19You're worth more than that.
- 12:20Give worthwhile ideas enough room to develop.
- 12:23Number 12, create distance from constant complaining.
- 12:28Everyone needs to vent occasionally.
- 12:32But constant complaining without any desire to improve
- 12:35something can become exhausting.
- 12:39You don't have to participate in every negative
- 12:41conversation.
- 12:42Not to participate in any of them.
- 12:45Number 13, stop spending energy proving yourself.
- 12:48You don't need to win every argument or
- 12:52convince everyone that you're capable.
- 12:55Let your work character, consistency, and results speak
- 12:59when it's possible.
- 13:02Number 14, give difficult situations appropriate limits.
- 13:07A difficult situation deserves enough attention to address
- 13:11it responsibly.
- 13:13But it doesn't deserve unlimited access to your
- 13:16entire day.
- 13:18Handle what you can and create boundaries around
- 13:21the rest of your life.
- 13:22Number 15, recognize when you're mentally overloaded.
- 13:28It happens.
- 13:29When everything starts feeling equally urgent, you may
- 13:33be overloaded.
- 13:35Stop adding more.
- 13:37Identify what actually needs attention.
- 13:40And reduce unnecessary demands where possible.
- 13:45Okay.
- 13:46Number 16, recharge before you completely become empty,
- 13:51right?
- 13:53Think about this with a car.
- 13:55Do we wait till the gas tank is
- 13:57empty before we get gas?
- 13:58I hope not.
- 13:59Otherwise, you'll be riding on fumes.
- 14:02And worse, you might stall.
- 14:04Don't treat recovery as something you earn only
- 14:07after you're exhausted yourself.
- 14:09Small periods of recovery can prevent you from
- 14:13reaching the point where everything becomes harder.
- 14:17So today, LeJello and I got back from
- 14:19my four-hour hike.
- 14:21I decided the first thing I was going
- 14:22to do was just to get comfortable in
- 14:25my chair, listen to some music, and just
- 14:29rest.
- 14:29And I did for a few hours.
- 14:31And that felt really, really good.
- 14:33Number 17, stop volunteering for unnecessary stress.
- 14:37You don't need to do that.
- 14:38You don't need to be the yes person
- 14:40or pleaser to everyone.
- 14:42Before saying yes, ask whether something genuinely needs
- 14:46your involvement.
- 14:46Being capable of handling something doesn't mean you
- 14:51must automatically take responsibility for it.
- 14:56A lot of people miss that point in
- 14:57life.
- 14:58They try to be the people pleasers.
- 15:00And I admire people that want to do
- 15:03that.
- 15:03But I know I was younger.
- 15:05I did it all the time.
- 15:06The thing is, if you become a people
- 15:07pleaser 24-7, you're going to run into
- 15:09a problem, okay?
- 15:12The problem you're going to run into is
- 15:17you're going to get tired.
- 15:22You're going to get frustrated.
- 15:23You're going to burn out.
- 15:26What burnout means is it takes the joys
- 15:28away from the things you love in life.
- 15:32Number 18, use your strongest energy intentionally.
- 15:37Notice when you're at your best during the
- 15:39day.
- 15:40Whenever possible, use those periods for work, conversations,
- 15:45creativity, or decisions that genuinely deserve your strongest
- 15:49attention, all right?
- 15:51Number 19, protect the activities that restore you.
- 15:56If something consistently helps you, recharge.
- 16:01Don't always sacrifice it.
- 16:03First, when life becomes busy, the activities that
- 16:06restore you may be exactly what allows you
- 16:09to handle everything else better in your life.
- 16:13And that's the real truth.
- 16:14But some people, you know, they have this
- 16:16ego.
- 16:17And, you know, they have to be better
- 16:19than everybody because that's just their ego.
- 16:22That's how their ego works.
- 16:24But I think sometimes the ego actually becomes
- 16:27the death of them because they're not open
- 16:31to learning.
- 16:31They're not open to growing.
- 16:33Number 20, learn when enough is enough.
- 16:37You've heard people say enough is enough, right?
- 16:39But then people still keep going on.
- 16:41There will always be another email, a task,
- 16:45improvement, a challenge, or a problem, depending how
- 16:47you look at it.
- 16:48Sometimes you need to recognize that you've done
- 16:51enough for today and allow yourself to stop
- 16:54where you are.
- 16:56That's a hard thing for people.
- 16:58How do you stop where you are when
- 17:01you're not, like, happy?
- 17:04I think you have to be content with
- 17:06the day and where you're at.
- 17:09And when you're content with that day, that
- 17:11makes a very, very big difference for everybody,
- 17:15right?
- 17:16It makes a very, very big difference for
- 17:18everybody around.
- 17:21And I know that's hard for some people
- 17:23to understand.
- 17:24But I want to be clear and let
- 17:26you know that you have the choice to
- 17:30decide what to do, right?
- 17:32You have that choice.
- 17:32Number 21, don't let one problem consume your
- 17:37entire day.
- 17:38We've all been there.
- 17:39We've all done that.
- 17:40Don't let it happen.
- 17:41A difficult hour doesn't automatically need to become
- 17:44a terrible day.
- 17:45Let me give you an example.
- 17:47You know, you get up in the morning,
- 17:48maybe you stub your toe, or you hit
- 17:51your elbow, or you even broke a glass
- 17:53or something.
- 17:54And then you allow that to spiral you
- 17:57down the rest of the day.
- 17:58When you say, okay, I broke a glass,
- 18:00I bumped my arm, I did something.
- 18:03Okay, the next, the rest of my day
- 18:05is going to be good.
- 18:06Your mind needs to shift out of that
- 18:09spot that it's in.
- 18:11Address what happened.
- 18:14Learn what you can.
- 18:15And refuse to give one event more time
- 18:18than it deserves.
- 18:22You have the power to do so much
- 18:24more in life, guys, when you actually do
- 18:28it.
- 18:29You have to take action from those inspired
- 18:32thoughts.
- 18:32They're not magically going to get done for
- 18:35you, okay?
- 18:36Number 22, create emotional breathing room.
- 18:40You don't need to react immediately to everything
- 18:43you feel.
- 18:44Give yourself space between an event and your
- 18:48response.
- 18:50No one says you got to give the
- 18:51answer tomorrow.
- 18:52That space can help you respond thoughtfully instead
- 18:55of emotionally.
- 18:57Number 23, preserve energy for people who matter.
- 19:01Don't give every ounce of patience and attention
- 19:05to strangers' problems and obligations.
- 19:08Then arrive exhausted around the people you value
- 19:11most.
- 19:13Save something meaningful for them too.
- 19:16They deserve it just like you.
- 19:18Number 24, stop allowing these minor challenges and
- 19:22problems to become the major drains and the
- 19:25major attention of your life.
- 19:28You know, 10 things should go well for
- 19:30you today.
- 19:30But then you're like, oh my gosh, but
- 19:32then this one thing happened.
- 19:34Okay, it happened, all right?
- 19:36It could be the fact you got stuck
- 19:38in traffic.
- 19:38But don't let that be the thought of
- 19:42your whole day.
- 19:43You might've went to a conference and you
- 19:44had an amazing time.
- 19:46But maybe one of the items of food
- 19:50they served wasn't good.
- 19:51It didn't taste good.
- 19:52Don't let that ruin the whole experience that
- 19:54you had.
- 19:55A minor inconvenience can consume hours if you
- 20:01continually replay it over and over again.
- 20:03Ask yourself whether the amount of energy you're
- 20:06giving something matches its actual importance.
- 20:10Many people won't do that.
- 20:12Number 25, notice what consistently lifts you.
- 20:15Pay attention to the people, the places, the
- 20:19activities, and experiences that leave you feeling stronger.
- 20:23Those patterns can teach you where your energy
- 20:26is being renewed.
- 20:30That's something we should pay attention to, I
- 20:32think.
- 20:33Number 26, give yourself permission to disengage.
- 20:37A lot of people, when they've committed to
- 20:40do something, it's okay to say, I don't
- 20:42wanna do that anymore.
- 20:44Maybe you volunteered for a while and you're
- 20:47like, oh, this is gonna be too much
- 20:48for me.
- 20:49Maybe you've got school.
- 20:50Maybe you've got things going on.
- 20:51What's happened to me, right?
- 20:54Doing school, being a serial entrepreneur, running other
- 20:56companies, being a keynote speaker.
- 20:58Sometimes you have to say no to these
- 20:59volunteer people.
- 21:01And that doesn't make you a bad person.
- 21:04And no doesn't mean never or right now.
- 21:07It's no.
- 21:09Not every debate requires your opinion.
- 21:11Not every message requires an immediate response.
- 21:15And too many people from the corporate world
- 21:17say, oh my gosh, I gotta give an
- 21:18answer now.
- 21:19No, you don't.
- 21:20Not every situation requires your involvement.
- 21:23Sometimes disengagement is a responsible choice, all right?
- 21:28Number 27, treat energy like a limited resource.
- 21:33You don't have a limited concentration, patience, creativity,
- 21:37or emotional capacity.
- 21:39When you recognize that you become more selective
- 21:43about where those resources go, that's the key
- 21:47to having a better, more fulfilling life.
- 21:51The catch is most people do not take
- 21:54the time of their day to say, wait
- 21:55a minute, being more intentional.
- 21:59Being more intentional is enjoying the moment, okay?
- 22:04I think that's a very important thing to
- 22:07realize.
- 22:08It's about the moment, the moment.
- 22:13The moment is key, guys.
- 22:16The moment is absolutely, absolutely, absolutely key.
- 22:20If we don't do that, then that can
- 22:23be a very big problem for us and
- 22:24for many other people, many other people.
- 22:28So let's become more intentional.
- 22:30Number 28, invest it where it can grow.
- 22:33Use your energy where it can create something
- 22:36larger.
- 22:37Knowledge, relationships, meaningful work, personal development, experiences,
- 22:42or opportunities that continue producing value.
- 22:47Number 29, your energy shapes your experience.
- 22:52Two people can move through similar days and
- 22:56experience them completely differently.
- 23:00Depending on where their attention and energy go,
- 23:03what you repeatedly feed influences how life feels.
- 23:09Number 30, protect what makes you feel alive.
- 23:13Don't become so busy maintaining everything that you
- 23:17eliminate everything that gives your life joy and
- 23:21energy.
- 23:22Protect the people, the interests, the experiences, and
- 23:25the moments that remind you why you're doing
- 23:28all this in the first place.
- 23:32A wise person once said something to me.
- 23:34You know what that was?
- 23:35It was that, you know, John, we have
- 23:37to become a person that's about truth.
- 23:44We have to become a person that's about
- 23:46what's going on in our life.
- 23:48We have to become a person that acknowledges
- 23:52things, that becomes in the moment, okay?
- 23:56We have to be a person that enjoys
- 23:57the journey on the way to our goals,
- 24:00not just enjoy when we get there.
- 24:02As I get ready to close and wrap
- 24:04this show up, protecting your energy isn't selfish,
- 24:07and it isn't about creating a life without
- 24:09responsibilities.
- 24:11No, it's about recognizing that your energy has
- 24:15value.
- 24:16You can't give everything unlimited access to it.
- 24:21You don't need to carry every person's urgency.
- 24:25You don't need to win every argument.
- 24:28You don't need to solve every problem today,
- 24:31and you don't need to become completely exhausted
- 24:35before giving yourself permission to recover and take
- 24:38a break.
- 24:39You know, I wrote the book, Drain to
- 24:44Driven, and I broke my leg 10 years
- 24:46ago.
- 24:46I gotta tell you, once that happened, more
- 24:49epiphanies have been happening to me, and the
- 24:50one that was really interesting is that it's
- 24:53okay to take a break.
- 24:55You know, if you're not fully tired, take
- 24:57a break.
- 24:59Pay attention to what drains you.
- 25:01Pay attention to what restores you.
- 25:05Notice the environments that change your mood.
- 25:10Notice the people who strengthen you.
- 25:13Notice when you're spending enormous energy on something
- 25:17that barely matters.
- 25:19Then make adjustments.
- 25:21Maybe you need more recovery, time for yourself.
- 25:25Maybe you need to say no more often,
- 25:28because that's yes to yourself.
- 25:29Maybe you need to stop giving one frustrating
- 25:31situation control over an entire day, a week,
- 25:36a month, your entire life.
- 25:38Maybe you need to protect something you enjoy
- 25:40instead of constantly removing it from your schedule
- 25:44because everyone else says there's no time for
- 25:47it.
- 25:47Don't let other people be the factor that
- 25:52takes you away from your joys.
- 25:55They're always gonna be selfish and want you
- 25:57to put time on them.
- 25:58You need to put more time on yourself.
- 26:00Your energy is one of the resources through
- 26:02which you experience your life.
- 26:05Where it goes matters.
- 26:07I'm John C.
- 26:08Morley.
- 26:09And thank you so much for choosing to
- 26:11join me for another amazing episode of Inspirations
- 26:13For Your Life.
- 26:15Use your energy intentionally.
- 26:18Invest it where something meaningful can grow.
- 26:22Preserve some for the people who matter.
- 26:28Give your mind room to recover.
- 26:32You know, if you think about anything you
- 26:36do in life, whether you walk, whether you
- 26:39run, there's gotta be a recovery time.
- 26:42And there isn't a penalty time for some
- 26:44more tea.
- 26:46There shouldn't be a penalty that you impose
- 26:48on yourself because you're taking a time out,
- 26:51because you're chilling.
- 26:56You have the right to take a time
- 27:00out.
- 27:01You have the right to say no.
- 27:02You have the right to say, I'll get
- 27:06back to you.
- 27:06You have the right to say, let me
- 27:08check my schedule.
- 27:10You have the right to say, I'd like
- 27:14to.
- 27:15At this time, it's just not something I
- 27:17put in my schedule.
- 27:18You can make it as nice as you
- 27:19want or just say, I don't have the
- 27:20time.
- 27:22I prefer to say at this time, I'm
- 27:23not able to help you.
- 27:25If they ask you why, I have other
- 27:27commitments.
- 27:28That's it.
- 27:30You don't owe anybody an explanation as to
- 27:33why you can't help them.
- 27:35If you promise to give somebody 15 minutes
- 27:37or 30 minutes and it's going past 30,
- 27:40I gotta get going.
- 27:41I have a hard stop at 5.30,
- 27:43whatever.
- 27:44And then hopefully they respect you.
- 27:46If they don't, it's just proving my point
- 27:49that they're about being selfish.
