- 0:01Yogic practice focused on transformation of human nature
- 0:04must necessarily address issues differently than one that has
- 0:10Liberation as its sole goal. This brings in the need for an
- 0:15understanding of the human instrument.
- 0:17The various elements of the be the development of those
- 0:21elements through time. And the manner, in which past
- 0:25ages form, a basis for the current stage with both, its
- 0:31He's and its limitations. SRI aurobindo provides a
- 0:35detailed background to the residual issues, that arise due
- 0:39to the nature and characteristics of these past
- 0:42stages of development and the influence of the three gunas on
- 0:47these respective elements. SRI aurobindo writes quote human
- 0:54nature and the character of the individual are a formation that
- 0:58has arisen in and out of the incontinence of the material
- 1:02world and can never get entirely free from the pressure of that.
- 1:06Incontinence, as Consciousness grows in the being born into
- 1:11this material world, it takes the form of an ignorance slowly
- 1:16admitting or striving with difficulty after knowledge.
- 1:20And human nature is made of that ignorance.
- 1:24And the character of the individual is made from the
- 1:28elements of the ignorance. It is largely mechanistic like
- 1:33everything else in material nature and there is almost
- 1:36invariably a resistance and more often than not a strong and
- 1:42stubborn resistance to any change, demanded from it.
- 1:47The character is made up of habits and it clings to them is
- 1:50disposed to think them, the very law of its being and it is a
- 1:55hard job to get it to change at all except under a strong
- 1:58pressure of circumstances, especially in the physical
- 2:02parts, the body, the physical mind, the physical life
- 2:06movements, there is this resistance, the temasek element
- 2:11in nature is powerful there. What the Gita describes has AA
- 2:16prakasha absence of light and operability, a tendency to
- 2:22inertia inactivity, unwillingness to make an effort.
- 2:26And as a result, even when the effort is made, a constant
- 2:32Readiness to doubt to despond and despair to give up renounce,
- 2:38the aim and the Endeavor collapse.
- 2:42Fortunately, there is also in human nature, a septic element,
- 2:46which turns towards light, and average Asik, or kinetic
- 2:50element, which desires and needs to act and can be made to
- 2:54desire. Not only change, but constant
- 2:57progress, but these two owing to the limitations of human
- 3:02ignorance and the obstructions of the fundamental and
- 3:05conscience. Suffer from pettiness and
- 3:09Division and can resist as well as assist the spiritual
- 3:14Endeavor, and quote. Reference SRI aurobindo in the
