- 1:47Speaker 3: up a little bit later on the show, said the
- 1:48Speaker 3: financier Eric tar is going to be stopping by. We
- 1:50Speaker 3: know the special session has been called by the governor
- 1:52Speaker 3: for September thirtieth legislative interims wrapping up earlier this week
- 1:56Speaker 3: in Parkersburg. We're going to get into the financier's take
- 1:59Speaker 3: on both of those plays, more about the tax situation.
- 2:02Speaker 3: And we're talking with the Senator the other day he said,
- 2:04Speaker 3: you want to spend some time talking about guns, So
- 2:06Speaker 3: I said, hey, we can get into that. I got
- 2:08Speaker 3: some more fallout from the Harris Trump debate from the
- 2:10Speaker 3: other night to get to. I'll try to get to
- 2:12Speaker 3: some of the texts I didn't get to on yesterday
- 2:15Speaker 3: show time permitting and also hopefully another time permitting thing
- 2:20Speaker 3: or if the schedule works out. We're going to introduce
- 2:21Speaker 3: you to the newest member of the Venture News team
- 2:24Speaker 3: working out of our studios here in Charleston. Her name
- 2:26Speaker 3: is Morgan Pemberton, and well she's working. She's off on
- 2:29Speaker 3: assignment right now, but she makes it back up the building.
- 2:32Speaker 3: We're going to introduce you to her. Ripfest opens up
- 2:35Speaker 3: today and had that Riverfront Park. So obviously we have
- 2:38Speaker 3: a lot to get to. There are a couple of
- 2:40Speaker 3: news items I do need to mention before we get
- 2:43Speaker 3: to our first guest, and there are now and you
- 2:46Speaker 3: just heard Chris's news report at the top of the hour,
- 2:48Speaker 3: at least two deaths being reported in Charleston, one early
- 2:51Speaker 3: this morning outside the Urk Sullivan LifeWay men shelter around
- 2:54Speaker 3: four point thirty this morning. That story's still developing. Also,
- 2:58Speaker 3: there was a shooting before nine and the seven hundred
- 3:01Speaker 3: block of Regency Drive. Little details being released on either
- 3:05Speaker 3: situation at this point, as one would suspect because it
- 3:08Speaker 3: is an ongoing investigation. We will cover it on air
- 3:11Speaker 3: and online throughout the day as details are available. Also,
- 3:15Speaker 3: the situation with the school threats happening Knawa County, Putnam County,
- 3:19Speaker 3: all over the state and all over the nation. And
- 3:23Speaker 3: I don't know what the answer is. My social media feed,
- 3:25Speaker 3: like yours, are probably filled people saying in many cases
- 3:29Speaker 3: and some other counties, not sending their kids to school
- 3:31Speaker 3: until it all gets straightened out. Don't know what that's
- 3:33Speaker 3: the best plan either, But again I don't have kids.
- 3:36Speaker 3: So I did make contact though with the Director of
- 3:39Speaker 3: Homeland Security in the state, Rob Cunningham, earlier this morning.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Rob is going to be on with us on the
- 3:44Speaker 3: show one day next week to discuss that. So lot's
- 3:47Speaker 3: going on in the news, but I want to take
- 3:50Speaker 3: time to talk about a special event coming up in
- 3:52Speaker 3: less than two weeks at the Connal Seeming Convention Center.
- 3:55Speaker 3: It's called the Chef's Challenge, and it's a fundraiser for
- 3:58Speaker 3: Covenant House to Charleston. Rihanna or Bree Martin and Tracy
- 4:01Speaker 3: Chapman with Covenant House and joining us right now. Good morning.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Rie will start with you, welcome to the show.
- 4:05Speaker 5: Good morning, David, thank you, thank you for having us
- 4:08Speaker 5: this morning.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. And Tracy is with us
- 4:11Speaker 3: as well. And Tracy Chapman is the new director of
- 4:16Speaker 3: the program. Is that right?
- 4:17Speaker 6: Yes, I'm the program director.
- 4:18Speaker 3: And this is your first event that you're putting on me.
- 4:20Speaker 6: My first event. I'm super excited.
- 4:22Speaker 3: So tell us, Bria, I will go to you what
- 4:24Speaker 3: exactly is Chef's Challenge? What is this thing?
- 4:27Speaker 2: So?
- 4:27Speaker 5: Chef Challenge, much like you said, Dave, is our annual
- 4:30Speaker 5: fundraiser for Covenant House, food housing and healthcare. That's what
- 4:36Speaker 5: we specialize in. But we operate a food pantry out
- 4:39Speaker 5: of the Covenant House and this is our fourteenth annual
- 4:44Speaker 5: Chefs Challenge. And what it is pretty much is it's
- 4:47Speaker 5: so nice, sit down dining style dinner that what we
- 4:51Speaker 5: like to call local celebrity chefs get together and they
- 4:54Speaker 5: develop a five course menu. It consists of past or
- 5:00Speaker 5: dervs and any type of any type of dining item
- 5:05Speaker 5: or course for the evening, and then we wrap it
- 5:07Speaker 5: up with some very nice desserts from two of our
- 5:11Speaker 5: wonderful pastry chefs in the area, Chef Morgan Morrison from
- 5:14Speaker 5: Rock City and Chef Terry Blevins from a Little Bit
- 5:18Speaker 5: of Having Cupcakes.
- 5:19Speaker 3: And this is happening when and where.
- 5:21Speaker 5: September twenty fourth at the Charleston Convention Center. Doors will
- 5:25Speaker 5: open at five point thirty, Dinner will begin at six.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Okay, And who are some of these celebrity chefs we have?
- 5:32Speaker 5: So we will have one of the people or the
- 5:35Speaker 5: group of people that I always like to talk about
- 5:37Speaker 5: and mention is the culinary students from Carver.
- 5:41Speaker 3: They do fantastic work up there, absolutely really do.
- 5:43Speaker 5: Absolutely, So Chef Mandy will bring her set of students
- 5:46Speaker 5: this year. We'll have Chef Dinnis coming to us from
- 5:49Speaker 5: Sleepy Hollow. We'll have Chef Evan from Ichibonn. We'll also
- 5:54Speaker 5: have Chef Betty from Embassy Suites. Then we'll bring in
- 5:58Speaker 5: Chef Keith Jackson from Black Sheet Burrito. We will have
- 6:03Speaker 5: of course the infamous James Beard Award winner, infamous Chef
- 6:07Speaker 5: Paul Smith and Chef Todd will be joining us from
- 6:10Speaker 5: the Convention Center this year. And then again we'll wrap
- 6:14Speaker 5: things up with our two pastry chefs.
- 6:16Speaker 3: It sounds like there's gonna be a lot of great
- 6:18Speaker 3: food and that is always of interest to me and
- 6:20Speaker 3: for a great cause. This menu is a make Can
- 6:23Speaker 3: you give us a little sneak preview? I mean, I
- 6:25Speaker 3: know you've got a variety of different foods that are
- 6:27Speaker 3: going to be there, and I know you get the pastries.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Don't want to give away too much.
- 6:30Speaker 5: But can you tell us absolutely So this year we
- 6:33Speaker 5: were exploring somewhat of an Italian theme, so we are
- 6:38Speaker 5: taking a tour.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Of Listen Tony the Taylor if you're listening, sponsor my
- 6:41Speaker 3: text line. He listens the show every day. Parentsino, this
- 6:44Speaker 3: is for you, so go ahead.
- 6:46Speaker 5: Thanks right. So, our culinary students, they will one of
- 6:50Speaker 5: their courses will be a tomato peach brushetto. They will
- 6:54Speaker 5: also do a cheesy proscudo strow and then Chef Evan
- 7:00Speaker 5: from Ichi Bond he will be bringing us a sausage
- 7:02Speaker 5: reclotta stuffed mushroom with red pesto, and Chef Dennis from
- 7:08Speaker 5: Sleepy Hollow will be doing a fancy, really fancy caprice
- 7:12Speaker 5: salad and then Chef Todd he will do the main
- 7:16Speaker 5: entree course, which is a chicken marsala, and then Chef
- 7:21Speaker 5: Paul will be bringing the vegetarian marsala with Hernshaw Farms,
- 7:26Speaker 5: mushrooms and tofu, so it will be a delightful cuisine.
- 7:30Speaker 5: I am certain. We'll also have some of our desserts.
- 7:34Speaker 5: Chef Terry will be bringing a mini lemon Cello Tara Massou.
- 7:39Speaker 5: She's got two desserts, and then Chef Morgan has three.
- 7:43Speaker 5: One of them that I'm very interested to see and
- 7:46Speaker 5: taste will be the Italian butterbrickle.
- 7:48Speaker 3: I'm very excited about it. You had me a butter brickle,
- 7:50Speaker 3: I believe it or not. I am not a bit
- 7:52Speaker 3: I love food of all kinds. My listeners know that
- 7:55Speaker 3: I'm not a necessarily big sweets eater. I prefer the
- 7:58Speaker 3: meat and the cheese and potatoes. I'll tell you, butterbrickle.
- 8:01Speaker 3: You had me well, and I can throw down on
- 8:04Speaker 3: some buddy.
- 8:04Speaker 5: We're going to have that because Chef Betty from Embassy
- 8:07Speaker 5: will be putting together an antiposity platter, so there will
- 8:11Speaker 5: be meat and cheese all over the place.
- 8:14Speaker 3: You know, perhaps we should have had them do up
- 8:17Speaker 3: some samples for us, because I can eat this kind
- 8:19Speaker 3: of stuff. Right, Ryan's banging his head against the glass
- 8:23Speaker 3: in the production studio and they right now it all
- 8:25Speaker 3: sounds great. So where does the money go.
- 8:27Speaker 5: So the proceeds from this event benefit Covenant House. It's
- 8:31Speaker 5: non discretionary funding. Most of what we operate is grant funding,
- 8:36Speaker 5: and those grants come with specific criteria, and if a
- 8:39Speaker 5: person who comes for assistance does not meet that criteria,
- 8:42Speaker 5: unfortunately we're not able to help in many cases. And
- 8:45Speaker 5: so the proceeds that come from this event allow us
- 8:48Speaker 5: to fill that void and be to be able to
- 8:51Speaker 5: help someone who may not qualify otherwise. And of course
- 8:54Speaker 5: we always have we have an honorary chair for the event,
- 8:58Speaker 5: and so we will be honoring Judge Joanna Tabot this
- 9:02Speaker 5: year as our honorary chair. And then of course Chef
- 9:06Speaker 5: Paul he is our spokesperson for a Chef Challenge this year.
- 9:09Speaker 3: That's awesome. It's good stuff of Dave Allen showing five
- 9:11Speaker 3: Ady Live is brought to you in part by Mortgan
- 9:13Speaker 3: and Morgan with more than twenty billion dollars recovered. They
- 9:15Speaker 3: believe when you're injured, you deserve more. Mortgaan to Morgan
- 9:18Speaker 3: in America's largest injury law firm at thisnee At this point,
- 9:22Speaker 3: are you in need of any sponsorships? So, if people
- 9:24Speaker 3: are listening right now and they can't make it to
- 9:26Speaker 3: the they would like to contribute, how do they get
- 9:27Speaker 3: in touch with you and how do they how can
- 9:30Speaker 3: they help out?
- 9:30Speaker 5: Great question, Dave, thank you so much. What they can
- 9:34Speaker 5: do is a couple of different ways. You can go
- 9:36Speaker 5: right to our Facebook page and secure a ticket, or
- 9:39Speaker 5: contact Angela Douglass who is our director of operations, and
- 9:43Speaker 5: she can set up any type of sponsorship. She can
- 9:45Speaker 5: email an application, it can be sent straight in. You
- 9:48Speaker 5: can also buy tickets via, of course Covenant Houses website.
- 9:53Speaker 5: And on top of that, if you need to stop
- 9:54Speaker 5: by the building, you're more than welcome. And we're located
- 9:56Speaker 5: at six hundred Truths Berry Street, right here in the
- 9:58Speaker 5: heart of Charleston.
- 9:59Speaker 3: All right, get the details, the date, the times, whatnot again.
- 10:02Speaker 5: Absolutely September twenty fourth. Doors will open at five thirty,
- 10:06Speaker 5: dinner begins at six. We will be partying right at
- 10:10Speaker 5: the Charleston Convention Center.
- 10:11Speaker 3: All right, sounds good. Bri and Tracy. I appreciate you
- 10:14Speaker 3: being here. And Tracy's the newcomer. So this is your friend.
- 10:17Speaker 3: This is a big event, to be your first big
- 10:18Speaker 3: event you're excited about. What's your background? Tell us about you.
- 10:22Speaker 6: I actually left the Supreme Court of West Virginia and
- 10:26Speaker 6: prior to that, the Kenaw County Schools, and my interest
- 10:29Speaker 6: was in grants and helping a nonprofit and making a difference.
- 10:33Speaker 6: And I think I've I've found the place to do
- 10:36Speaker 6: just so well.
- 10:37Speaker 3: You got a got a good person to work with
- 10:39Speaker 3: over here. Absolutely, she does a great job. As I
- 10:41Speaker 3: appreciate you being here hanging out with me one second.

- 15:05Speaker 8: Oh absolutely, yeah.
- 15:06Speaker 12: You know, another time around the sun, it's a little
- 15:09Speaker 12: less younger and dumber.
- 15:10Speaker 3: So yeah, I guess something about us September babies, because
- 15:13Speaker 3: mine's coming up here here in a couple of weeks.
- 15:14Speaker 3: So well, thank you can be the first to tell
- 15:17Speaker 3: me that I appreciate it.
- 15:18Speaker 8: That look up to my elder's eye.
- 15:20Speaker 3: I knew that was Kyle. I got you. I got
- 15:22Speaker 3: you by two years, Senator. I get you a boy too.
- 15:23Speaker 3: I get you TOEA and I think by a couple

- 15:28Speaker 3: did that.
- 15:29Speaker 8: We've got to be telling the truth on the radio, right, Let's.
- 15:32Speaker 3: Get right to it.
- 15:33Speaker 4: Uh.
- 15:33Speaker 3: The governor's planning to cut taxes. You know, Senator, no
- 15:37Speaker 3: one wants to pay taxes. You're a business owner, you're
- 15:39Speaker 3: an individual, family guy. You know, no one wants to
- 15:42Speaker 3: pay We've all said that, you and I mentioned in
- 15:44Speaker 3: the past, but you know, we would all like to
- 15:47Speaker 3: be able to have a little bit of a lesser
- 15:49Speaker 3: tax burden. But many people, including yourself, and you've been
- 15:53Speaker 3: one out there that's really been talking a whole lot
- 15:54Speaker 3: about this, are just you're saying that the state is
- 15:58Speaker 3: just not in a position to do what the governor
- 16:01Speaker 3: wants to do at this point, and without talking way
- 16:04Speaker 3: over everyone's heads here, including my own, because this is
- 16:07Speaker 3: not really my strong suit as well. Republicans, some Democrats
- 16:12Speaker 3: too the legislature a great number, not all, but a
- 16:15Speaker 3: great number. I just feeling a little bit, a little
- 16:18Speaker 3: bit of an issue here. Explain what the issue is, Dave.
- 16:21Speaker 12: You know me well, and yeah, I definitely want to
- 16:22Speaker 12: cut taxes. Who doesn't want to cut taxes? And I
- 16:25Speaker 12: think that the well, how we've demonstrated that Republicans want
- 16:29Speaker 12: to cut taxes, and we put in a plan to eliminate,
- 16:32Speaker 12: not just reduce, but eliminate the personal income tax. So
- 16:36Speaker 12: that is a very sophisticated plan when it comes down
- 16:40Speaker 12: to it, because that's about a two and a half
- 16:41Speaker 12: billion dollar lift to get rid of the entire personal
- 16:44Speaker 12: income tax. So with this four percent trigger coming in,
- 16:46Speaker 12: we're going to get it down it'll be a twenty
- 16:48Speaker 12: five and a quarter percent reduction in the personal income tax,
- 16:51Speaker 12: so a quarter of it gone. Since twenty seventeen, we've
- 16:55Speaker 12: eliminated about a billion dollars in taxes. So the problem
- 17:00Speaker 12: here is that if you get too aggressive, you got
- 17:02Speaker 12: to go back and reverse a lot of those things
- 17:05Speaker 12: that you did. And so, you know, it sounds good
- 17:08Speaker 12: to say, hey, we're going to knock out another five percent,
- 17:11Speaker 12: another one hundred and ten hundred and fifteen million dollars
- 17:13Speaker 12: in taxes. If you go to aggressive too fast, what
- 17:16Speaker 12: happens is you have to go back and reverse that
- 17:18Speaker 12: policy in order not to put the state upside down
- 17:22Speaker 12: for all our obligations. Because every time we pass a bill,
- 17:26Speaker 12: there's a chance that bill has an expense to it.
- 17:28Speaker 12: And so you can go out and look five six
- 17:31Speaker 12: years now, you can even look out two years and
- 17:33Speaker 12: see that bills we've passed that phase in expenses and
- 17:37Speaker 12: phase in taxes excuse me, phase in tax reductions. The
- 17:42Speaker 12: net difference in a couple of years is over six
- 17:44Speaker 12: hundred million dollars. And so if you go in and
- 17:46Speaker 12: you take in another one hundred and fifteen million dollars
- 17:49Speaker 12: on hundred and ten million dollars. You can really put
- 17:51Speaker 12: us upside down in a situation. You know, there was
- 17:53Speaker 12: We've had those years.
- 17:54Speaker 8: In West Virginia.
- 17:55Speaker 12: We don't want them again, so we had we are
- 17:58Speaker 12: progressively eliminating taxation in West Virginia. Just to say something
- 18:03Speaker 12: that sounds good on the way through. You know, if
- 18:06Speaker 12: if the government come in and give us a plan
- 18:08Speaker 12: that reduces those liabilities and not just say hey, if
- 18:12Speaker 12: we do this, then maybe it goes away. But hard line,
- 18:16Speaker 12: we're taking this liability off the books. It costs this much,
- 18:19Speaker 12: so we can reduce taxes for having taken that off.
- 18:22Speaker 12: I think you'd find a legislature that's good with that,
- 18:24Speaker 12: but right now we haven't seen that plan.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Talking to CENTA Financed chair Eric tar And again, as
- 18:29Speaker 3: we said at the beginning of the segment, I mean,
- 18:31Speaker 3: I think everybody would like to live this, would like
- 18:33Speaker 3: to like to have the elimination of the state income tax.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Certainly tax reductions. The governor seems to think, and he
- 18:38Speaker 3: said this on numerous occasions, and I wanted to take
- 18:42Speaker 3: the governor at his word when he says this, that
- 18:46Speaker 3: this is what's going to bring people to West Virginia.
- 18:49Speaker 3: I would say, I think it wouldn't hurt to bring
- 18:53Speaker 3: people to West Virginia. But there's got to be more
- 18:55Speaker 3: than just that. Because he points to some other states
- 18:58Speaker 3: that don't have state income tax, and I agree with him, Yeah,
- 19:01Speaker 3: that's great. However, there's other things going on in those
- 19:05Speaker 3: areas other than just the state of income tax. Would
- 19:07Speaker 3: you agree disagree with that?
- 19:08Speaker 12: Yeah, Well, what you're saying is not wrong, and what
- 19:10Speaker 12: the governor said is not wrong, but doing another five
- 19:13Speaker 12: percent doesn't get you there where you really have to
- 19:16Speaker 12: get to in order to get feet moving into West Virginia.
- 19:19Speaker 12: For our taxation policies, a few areas we're not competitive.
- 19:22Speaker 12: Personal income tax is still one of those. To be
- 19:25Speaker 12: competitive nationally, we need to be at a fifty percent
- 19:27Speaker 12: income tax reduction. So you're talking about a one point
- 19:30Speaker 12: twenty five billion dollars total to get there on just
- 19:33Speaker 12: personal income tax. Okay, So that billion dollars I was
- 19:36Speaker 12: talking about that wasn't just personal income tax. It's taxes
- 19:39Speaker 12: in a lot of different areas that we've reduced. A
- 19:42Speaker 12: big part of it was personal income tax. So it
- 19:45Speaker 12: to get there, it really to get there rapidly. We've
- 19:49Speaker 12: tried that a couple of times House voted it down
- 19:51Speaker 12: one hundred and nothing. So you have to increase sales
- 19:53Speaker 12: tax somewhere to offset the personal income tax, which is
- 19:56Speaker 12: in my strategy, a good plan because about twenty percent
- 19:59Speaker 12: of our sales tax is paid by people who don't
- 20:01Speaker 12: live in West Virginia. One hundred percent of income tax
- 20:03Speaker 12: is paid by people who live in West Virginia and
- 20:05Speaker 12: work in West Virginia. So you know, there's ways you
- 20:09Speaker 12: can get there, but politically they're more challenging than the math. Okay,
- 20:13Speaker 12: so so I do agree with the governor that we
- 20:16Speaker 12: need to get there. But the problem is every time
- 20:19Speaker 12: you do a personal income tax reduction until you get
- 20:22Speaker 12: to a spot to where we are competitive nationally that
- 20:24Speaker 12: will move people to West Virginia. For having done it
- 20:27Speaker 12: is that it's more ideo logic.
- 20:32Speaker 8: Nobody wants to pay it.
- 20:33Speaker 12: I'd rather spend my money and have government spend it
- 20:35Speaker 12: every single day of the week. And so that happens,
- 20:37Speaker 12: but it happens in such small fractions that it doesn't
- 20:40Speaker 12: produce the economic impact that a tax.
- 20:43Speaker 8: Cut can do.
- 20:44Speaker 12: And you don't get that until you're at fifty percent
- 20:46Speaker 12: or greater. For West Virginia because that's where it takes
- 20:49Speaker 12: to get competitive nationally.
- 20:50Speaker 3: I got a tax last night from a state senator
- 20:53Speaker 3: who shall remain nameless, but he knew you were going
- 20:56Speaker 3: to be on the show today, and he sent me
- 20:57Speaker 3: a tax last night. And he said, I am a
- 20:59Speaker 3: say that supports the governor's proposed additional tax cut. If
- 21:02Speaker 3: there's money, get it out of Charleston back into people's pockets.
- 21:05Speaker 8: Well, I guess to what I just said.
- 21:07Speaker 12: You know, so if I'd rather spend mone money than
- 21:10Speaker 12: have Charleston spend it, the problem is you got to
- 21:13Speaker 12: think long term. If you do that too fast, we're
- 21:16Speaker 12: going to be in a situation where you're raising taxes,
- 21:18Speaker 12: because we have. In two years, we got a net
- 21:21Speaker 12: decrease in revenue available to us by over six hundred
- 21:26Speaker 12: million dollars. That's from taxes that are not tax from
- 21:30Speaker 12: tax cuts that phase in, so, for instance, eliminate SoCal
- 21:33Speaker 12: Security income tax. We just passed that bill this last
- 21:35Speaker 12: year that phases in over a three year period, so
- 21:38Speaker 12: it results in a thirty eight million dollars decrease in
- 21:41Speaker 12: personal income tax collections to the state for having eliminated
- 21:44Speaker 12: the tax on social security so that's a great thing.
- 21:48Speaker 12: I'm happy to see we did that, But that phase in,
- 21:50Speaker 12: so that's a net reduction. Then you've got expenses that
- 21:53Speaker 12: pop in, and those expenses like third Great Success Act,
- 21:56Speaker 12: every year, it's another thirty three million dollars more expenses
- 21:59Speaker 12: that come in to that. If you look at Hope scholarship,
- 22:02Speaker 12: Hope scholarship in two years is two hundred million dollars
- 22:05Speaker 12: more than we're spending. That's an expense. So when you
- 22:08Speaker 12: start looking at that, if we go in and reduce
- 22:11Speaker 12: the taxes too fast, with those liabilities coming onto those books,
- 22:14Speaker 12: we won't have the money to pay for those things.
- 22:16Speaker 12: So then what happens, Well, then you start looking at
- 22:19Speaker 12: two things, where else can we reduce spending, which there
- 22:22Speaker 12: are areas that are also very politically difficult that I
- 22:24Speaker 12: would love to see happen.
- 22:27Speaker 8: Or you got to go back and raise taxes.
- 22:28Speaker 12: And when you start raising taxes, we have lost the
- 22:32Speaker 12: path to eliminating personal income tax. So for that, Senator,
- 22:35Speaker 12: if you really don't want to pay more taxes and
- 22:36Speaker 12: stick to the plan, because there's a system to get there.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Talking about Center financiaer Aera Tarve Dave Island showing five
- 22:42Speaker 3: aaby line Brides to You, part by Love Healthy West
- 22:44Speaker 3: Virginia presented by WVU Medicine. This is podcast offering help
- 22:48Speaker 3: on things like heart disease, diabetes, and more. Check out
- 22:51Speaker 3: relatest episodes on wv metronews dot com or the podcast
- 22:54Speaker 3: menu and start your journey towards betterhealth today. You and
- 22:57Speaker 3: others Senator have said in the past, you've kind of
- 22:59Speaker 3: pointed to the governor's senatorial run is saying that this
- 23:03Speaker 3: is campaign fodder. Do you you still go along with that? Yeah?
- 23:06Speaker 8: I think so. I mean, think about what's happening right now.
- 23:09Speaker 12: There's there's no fire right now to come into a
- 23:12Speaker 12: special session to say, hey, we got to eliminate another
- 23:15Speaker 12: five percent on personal income tax or the world's going
- 23:17Speaker 12: to fall apart.
- 23:18Speaker 8: It wouldn't happen till January. Anyway.
- 23:19Speaker 12: We were already coming in for interims coming in first
- 23:22Speaker 12: week of October, and we usually stepped in our special
- 23:25Speaker 12: sessions over top interim, so you don't have to pay
- 23:27Speaker 12: extra dollars out there for eBoy coming in Charleston. So
- 23:30Speaker 12: to come in and act like this is urgent to
- 23:35Speaker 12: come in and tell the public that there was these
- 23:37Speaker 12: conversations over the weekend with the legislative leadership that said, hey,
- 23:40Speaker 12: this is the day we need to come in when
- 23:41Speaker 12: we had no discussions. I mean, it makes me wonder
- 23:45Speaker 12: why saying it so, and the guy's running for you,
- 23:48Speaker 12: a senate soul, I would assume it's campaign fodder.
- 23:51Speaker 3: He did announce, as you said, we already had I
- 23:53Speaker 3: gues see interim schedule for October, but he did announce
- 23:55Speaker 3: that the special session will be in September thirtieth. What
- 23:58Speaker 3: do you expect to see from that?
- 23:59Speaker 12: Well, ones that we normally have these special sessions throughout
- 24:02Speaker 12: the year to handle the business of the state. I mean,
- 24:04Speaker 12: because there's things that come up, you have to fund
- 24:06Speaker 12: this or that you have, there's things you might miss
- 24:09Speaker 12: and because it's I mean, we're we handle twenty billion
- 24:11Speaker 12: dollars in spending and so sometimes you'll pass legislation and
- 24:15Speaker 12: you might be two or three million off here or there.
- 24:17Speaker 12: There's type of things and you just miss it. And
- 24:18Speaker 12: for instance, like pay raises or type things, because you'll
- 24:20Speaker 12: do pay raise in a certain area and then not
- 24:23Speaker 12: realize you have two different types of revenue that fund
- 24:26Speaker 12: the employees in there, and you might have to come
- 24:27Speaker 12: back in. Okay, Hey, there's four hundred thousand dollars we
- 24:30Speaker 12: missed here. We need to run usupplement, do that those
- 24:33Speaker 12: type of things of the state. So you have a
- 24:35Speaker 12: lot of those type of things that we do in
- 24:36Speaker 12: those special sessions.
- 24:37Speaker 2: We need to do that.
- 24:39Speaker 12: I think we're probably going to be discussing these the
- 24:41Speaker 12: governor's tax coming. That's why he's called us in. So
- 24:43Speaker 12: I expect he's probably going to put a bill on
- 24:45Speaker 12: there of some sort about this an idea for tax reduction,
- 24:50Speaker 12: and I hope, I hope he comes up with something
- 24:51Speaker 12: completely creative. If he can come up with something completely
- 24:54Speaker 12: creative and come there and say, here's where we're going
- 24:56Speaker 12: to take one hundred and ten millione hundred and fifteen
- 24:59Speaker 12: million dollars of life ability, that it's forward looking off
- 25:01Speaker 12: the books, so we can swap it out. I think
- 25:03Speaker 12: you're going to see us looking at it. But if
- 25:05Speaker 12: he does not do that, I think it's it's it's
- 25:08Speaker 12: the bill is gonna be persigned on grata because I
- 25:12Speaker 12: think that we we understand very well that we have
- 25:14Speaker 12: a path eliminating these taxes, and you can screw it up.
- 25:17Speaker 12: It's fragile. So I think that those are things. Uh,
- 25:21Speaker 12: there may be a couple of bills. He's talked about childcare,
- 25:25Speaker 12: tax credit, those type things, you know, So where I
- 25:27Speaker 12: think there'll be probably some discussions around childcare.
- 25:32Speaker 8: We've been having some a lot of long.
- 25:33Speaker 3: There's a desperate need. Senator, I think that you would
- 25:35Speaker 3: you would agree with that there's a desperate need to
- 25:37Speaker 3: do something or at least have the conversation about various
- 25:41Speaker 3: childcare child welfare issues in the sate of West Virginia.
- 25:44Speaker 12: Yeah, I say, I think there's areas where there are
- 25:48Speaker 12: so I mean and when I say that, I think
- 25:49Speaker 12: there's probably our childcare deserts within the state. The ones
- 25:53Speaker 12: that are coming out and really calling a childcare crisis
- 25:56Speaker 12: are primarily the people get paid provide childcare. I haven't
- 25:59Speaker 12: had a parent come to me yet and say, hey,
- 26:01Speaker 12: we've got a childcare crisis. That's that's come and said
- 26:04Speaker 12: that to me. So anytime you want to try to
- 26:07Speaker 12: get something done, you try to create an emergency.
- 26:09Speaker 8: So I don't know.
- 26:10Speaker 12: So one of the things that we've been doing is
- 26:12Speaker 12: we have a staff of people that are looking at
- 26:15Speaker 12: how do we pay for childcare? Where do we pay
- 26:17Speaker 12: it from what do we get from having paid for it?
- 26:20Speaker 12: Because what this is that the federal government has done
- 26:22Speaker 12: is they've expanded entitlement to people who are already receiving
- 26:27Speaker 12: entitlements that pays more for child care for that. So
- 26:30Speaker 12: what in the past four years, we have spent two
- 26:34Speaker 12: hundred and forty million dollars more on childcare in West
- 26:37Speaker 12: Virginia under the guys that it improves workforce participation. Our
- 26:42Speaker 12: workforce participation has went down in those four years. So
- 26:46Speaker 12: for having spent another sixty million dollars a year on childcare,
- 26:49Speaker 12: workforce participation has went down. So to me, it bears
- 26:54Speaker 12: looking into it. Says to Okay, what are the other
- 26:56Speaker 12: things that affect the access to childcare besides throwing money
- 27:00Speaker 12: at it? Because it's very apparent throwing money at it
- 27:02Speaker 12: hasn't done anything.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Texas Dave asked Senator tar where had they been getting
- 27:06Speaker 3: their money for their budget? Have they been getting any
- 27:08Speaker 3: money from the feds?
- 27:10Speaker 13: Oh?
- 27:10Speaker 8: Yeah, absolutely, and that's that's not for the budget, not
- 27:12Speaker 8: per se. So one of the things that.
- 27:15Speaker 12: I'm a fan of using a tax dollar four is
- 27:20Speaker 12: rebuilding West Virginia's infrastructure, sewer, water, roads, broadband those type things,
- 27:24Speaker 12: access to those and so there's a lot of federal
- 27:28Speaker 12: matches out there for these different things, and it might
- 27:30Speaker 12: be one to two all the way to one to nine.
- 27:32Speaker 12: In other words, we go in and spend ten dollars
- 27:34Speaker 12: in the government, come back and reimburse us nine of
- 27:36Speaker 12: those ten the federal government. So there's plans out there
- 27:40Speaker 12: that are available for us that are time limited, and
- 27:44Speaker 12: so it becomes important too that when we do have
- 27:47Speaker 12: money available to us, you can turn your one dollar
- 27:50Speaker 12: of tax into another nine dollars on top of it
- 27:54Speaker 12: and go get sewer to your neighborhood, or get water
- 27:57Speaker 12: to your neighborhood, or pave the road in front of
- 27:59Speaker 12: your house. So there's some of those things out there.
- 28:02Speaker 12: So definitely there's been some federal dollars that we've been
- 28:04Speaker 12: able to access because we have been very judicious in
- 28:08Speaker 12: our spending in state government, by holding four flat budgets,
- 28:11Speaker 12: by going in and reducing spending in areas that the
- 28:14Speaker 12: government shouldn't be spending on, by investing in ourselves on
- 28:18Speaker 12: things that will turn money back into the state for
- 28:20Speaker 12: having spend a dollar, like for economic development initiatives. When
- 28:24Speaker 12: you land new cores, when you land Berkshire, when you
- 28:26Speaker 12: learn land Time, it's there's those things that that's big
- 28:31Speaker 12: money that comes into westreating trund reinvesting ourselves and so
- 28:34Speaker 12: then we can take that capital for having done that
- 28:36Speaker 12: and then match that federal dollar. And we've been doing
- 28:39Speaker 12: that very well in West Virginia. So much so I think,
- 28:42Speaker 12: and I've said it many times on your show, is
- 28:43Speaker 12: that the biggest one of the biggest players I've had
- 28:47Speaker 12: is serving as a legislator. Is in my time and service,
- 28:50Speaker 12: I have got to see hope in the faces of
- 28:52Speaker 12: West Virginia's about what is in front of West Virginia
- 28:56Speaker 12: and so and that's that's a big part of it
- 28:58Speaker 12: because we've been handling this.
- 28:59Speaker 3: Right before I let you go. You and I were
- 29:01Speaker 3: texting back and ford last week about it. You on
- 29:03Speaker 3: the show and you said, do you want to talk
- 29:04Speaker 3: about guns?
- 29:05Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 29:05Speaker 3: What what's up with you?
- 29:06Speaker 6: You know I was.
- 29:07Speaker 12: I was actually on a golf course. So you know,
- 29:09Speaker 12: my I have a few hobbies that I love to do.
- 29:11Speaker 12: If I can never get to do them. One of
- 29:13Speaker 12: them is golfing, one's hunting, just shooting guns and cars.
- 29:16Speaker 12: Those are those are the things that.
- 29:17Speaker 3: Really that's that's cars driving, not shooting cars.
- 29:20Speaker 2: You know what.
- 29:20Speaker 8: I got funny story about that. So my dad was
- 29:23Speaker 8: called a Chevy killer, so.
- 29:24Speaker 3: A little bit of both, and we'll get into that
- 29:26Speaker 3: another time.
- 29:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:27Speaker 12: So, but uh, you know, I was golfing and with
- 29:29Speaker 12: some buddies and they said, hey, man, quit being such
- 29:30Speaker 12: an egghead when you're on Dave Show and having to
- 29:32Speaker 12: talk about guns, cars or something, and you know of
- 29:34Speaker 12: these things that we all get to do it, you know,
- 29:36Speaker 12: talk about and play with out here.
- 29:37Speaker 8: So uh so that's what that was about.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Okay, I thought you were going to get into some
- 29:41Speaker 3: specific gun issues. You just want to talk guns. You
- 29:43Speaker 3: need to talk to Chris Lawrence, you know with the
- 29:45Speaker 3: Westroeting outdoors.
- 29:46Speaker 12: You need to go in and talk about my f
- 29:48Speaker 12: N five O nine with the Hall Sun side on it,
- 29:50Speaker 12: and you know, it's a talking about that stuff.
- 29:52Speaker 3: And you and I are. I'm not a gun guy necessarily.
- 29:54Speaker 3: I'm not anti gun. I'm just not really one of
- 29:56Speaker 3: my hobbies. But I will say that I'm a car guy.
- 29:58Speaker 3: And I've got to hook you up with my with
- 30:00Speaker 3: my brother in law, who's probably listened to the show
- 30:02Speaker 3: right now, because he's a fellow Corvette guy too. And
- 30:04Speaker 3: I know you you've got a VET that you're you're very,
- 30:07Speaker 3: very proud of.

- 35:51Speaker 3: into the TV age via Metro News TV, you'll be
- 35:53Speaker 3: seeing a lot more of her as well. He name
- 35:55Speaker 3: is Morgan Pemberton. Morgan, good morning, welcome to the team,
- 35:58Speaker 3: Good morning, Thank you. Tell us about you, Where are
- 36:01Speaker 3: you from? Where's home?
- 36:02Speaker 17: I'm originally from Williamstown, West Virginia. Pretty much grew up
- 36:06Speaker 17: here in Huntingdon, West Virginia. My aunt lives there who
- 36:09Speaker 17: I currently live with. I went to Marshall Go Ahead,
- 36:12Speaker 17: graduated in April of this year and really excited to
- 36:16Speaker 17: just be here and do what I love to do.
- 36:19Speaker 3: Well, you and another frequent guest of the show, Stevelen
- 36:22Speaker 3: Allen Adams of Ogden Newspapers Williamstown native as well, you
- 36:25Speaker 3: ex patriots can have a connection here in Charleston. So
- 36:29Speaker 3: let me talk about why did you get into this field?
- 36:30Speaker 3: Because you know, you're a younger person. Seemingly a lot
- 36:33Speaker 3: of younger people simply aren't going into my chosen profession
- 36:37Speaker 3: for the last thirty six years. What was it about
- 36:40Speaker 3: it about the profession in general that interested young Morgan?
- 36:43Speaker 17: I originally wanted to do like pr and then realize
- 36:47Speaker 17: it's not something I wanted to do. So when I
- 36:49Speaker 17: got into college, the radio station WML really helped me
- 36:56Speaker 17: decide that radio was what I want to specifically do,
- 37:00Speaker 17: the news and everything. So it was kind of later
- 37:03Speaker 17: on in my teen years when I realized that this
- 37:06Speaker 17: is something I wanted to do, what.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Are you most looking forward to in the job other
- 37:12Speaker 3: than the getting up at three am? You have told
- 37:15Speaker 3: you about that, right, they told you that.
- 37:16Speaker 17: Okay, I think just getting out there doing the stories
- 37:22Speaker 17: anchoring because, like I said in WML, I anchored the
- 37:25Speaker 17: five o'clock news there all the for five semesters or
- 37:29Speaker 17: something like that. So I'm looking forward to that and
- 37:31Speaker 17: just continuing learning the job and everything.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Well, you're gonna be working with Chris Lawrence in the morning,
- 37:37Speaker 3: so you're working with one of the best. And don't
- 37:39Speaker 3: tell him. I said that, okay, but you're working with
- 37:40Speaker 3: probably with the best best newscaster and say to West
- 37:43Speaker 3: Virginia in my opinion, but don't tell him.
- 37:44Speaker 2: I said that.
- 37:45Speaker 5: Okay.
- 37:46Speaker 3: I have to say, your debut here, Morgan is a
- 37:48Speaker 3: little bit more calm than the last person we brought in,
- 37:50Speaker 3: because that was Aaron Parker. And I don't know if
- 37:52Speaker 3: you've heard that story or not. He was about to
- 37:54Speaker 3: do his introductory interview and I had Aaron in the
- 37:58Speaker 3: very seat that you're in now, and I said to him,
- 38:01Speaker 3: I right, Aaron, we're ready to go. During the commercial break,
- 38:04Speaker 3: Jeff Jenkins runs in here with the news that on
- 38:07Speaker 3: that particular morning, the NBA legend, an all the time
- 38:10Speaker 3: great mountaineer, Jerry West, had passed away. So basically we
- 38:13Speaker 3: took Aaron and pushed him out of the way and
- 38:15Speaker 3: put Jeff in a position and so a little bit
- 38:17Speaker 3: more calm, so far for you today? All right. So,
- 38:19Speaker 3: in an effort, Morgan, to get to know you, I've
- 38:21Speaker 3: prepared a list of questions for you. I need you
- 38:23Speaker 3: to answer and rapid fire fashion. Are you ready to go?
- 38:27Speaker 2: Yes?
- 38:27Speaker 3: All right? Do you have any pets of so? What
- 38:29Speaker 3: are their names?
- 38:30Speaker 5: No?
- 38:30Speaker 3: Nope's all right? Favorite ice cream flavor, chocolate? Name a
- 38:34Speaker 3: movie or TV show you can practically quote.
- 38:36Speaker 17: Line for line, Probably Criminal Minds.
- 38:40Speaker 3: Okay. What's your favorite teacher's name in school?
- 38:44Speaker 17: I don't remember half the teachers I had, but she's
- 38:48Speaker 17: a natural for radio. But probably in college Christopher's Window.
- 38:52Speaker 3: Okay, knowing well, knowing well, so he wasecad. He's actually
- 38:56Speaker 3: from my hometown. Name the one musical artist you could
- 38:59Speaker 3: drive I've across country listening to, Oh gosh, probably Luke Bryan. Okay,
- 39:08Speaker 3: all right, no, only I'm not gonna hold that against you.
- 39:10Speaker 3: What's the one place in the world. You've always wanted
- 39:12Speaker 3: to visit Disney World. Okay, do you have a favorite
- 39:15Speaker 3: sports team?
- 39:16Speaker 17: No?
- 39:17Speaker 3: Really, Marshall Thundering Herd. Sure so, I said, talked about
- 39:21Speaker 3: you having to get up when you do your early
- 39:23Speaker 3: bird or a night out by nature.
- 39:26Speaker 17: I like it, well pretending to work. I like to
- 39:28Speaker 17: get things done early. But if not working, then a
- 39:31Speaker 17: night out.
- 39:32Speaker 3: Okay, what is your final question? What is it that
- 39:36Speaker 3: you like so much about West Virginia? Because you're a
- 39:37Speaker 3: young person, You're in a field that not a lot
- 39:40Speaker 3: of young people are going into. You chose to go
- 39:43Speaker 3: into this field and to stay in West Virginia. What
- 39:46Speaker 3: is it that you like about West Virginia so much?
- 39:48Speaker 17: I mean, I guess coming from a small town because
- 39:50Speaker 17: Williamstown's a small town. Just the community that I was
- 39:54Speaker 17: surrounded with, and I kind of want to be that
- 39:56Speaker 17: person just to you know, give people the new news
- 40:00Speaker 17: and be part of a community that you know is
- 40:04Speaker 17: inviting and stuff like that.
- 40:06Speaker 3: Well, Morgan, we're a very blessed to have you here
- 40:08Speaker 3: on the team. We appreciate you taking. By the way,
- 40:10Speaker 3: I got a text from Steven Allen Adams. I screwed
- 40:12Speaker 3: up royally he is not from Williamstown. He's from the
- 40:16Speaker 3: rival Saint Mary's.
- 40:17Speaker 8: Yeah, I screwed.
- 40:18Speaker 3: That's that would be like in my home county down
- 40:20Speaker 3: the river, getting Logan and Chapmanville mixed up.
- 40:23Speaker 2: You know.
- 40:23Speaker 3: I apologize that I've known Stephen for like one hundred years.
- 40:26Speaker 3: I don't know, I've somehow had a little brain fog
- 40:28Speaker 3: on that. Yeah, he says, Williamstown is our rival. We
- 40:31Speaker 3: swat bees, is what he says. But he did wish
- 40:33Speaker 3: your best to luck anyway. So all right, Morgan Peppers
- 40:36Speaker 3: to welcome to the team. I appreciate you being here.
- 40:38Speaker 3: Thanks a lot, thank you. All Right, we'll let you
- 40:40Speaker 3: go on about your because you've already been out working
- 40:42Speaker 3: this morning, so I know you've got to go put
- 40:44Speaker 3: a story together to get out here and go to work. Okay,

- 46:36Speaker 3: fifty eight, Tony the Taylor Text three zero four nine
- 46:38Speaker 3: three five five zero zero eight. I've talked a little
- 46:41Speaker 3: bit about a text that I got about a week
- 46:43Speaker 3: and a half or so ago from one of our
- 46:46Speaker 3: loyal textures. I don't know who the people are, just
- 46:48Speaker 3: a text that said they were having some problems as
- 46:51Speaker 3: they like to monitor I guess emergency situations on scanner
- 46:54Speaker 3: apps or things of that nature. And I was trying
- 46:56Speaker 3: to link one with the other with Johnny Rutherford for
- 46:58Speaker 3: Metro nine to one one, and we're able to get
- 47:00Speaker 3: that straightened out, we thought. And then early in the show,
- 47:03Speaker 3: I got a text from someone that said, sir, it's
- 47:06Speaker 3: not just a broadcastify thing. Multiple platforms are affected. Kanawha
- 47:11Speaker 3: County public Safety has been off for at least ten days.
- 47:14Speaker 3: I use it for works as a texture, and it
- 47:16Speaker 3: would have been beneficial to know beforehand. No I was
- 47:18Speaker 3: rolling into an active crime scene last night at Greenbrier Gardens.
- 47:22Speaker 3: I don't have an answer for that. Here's what I
- 47:24Speaker 3: do to the texture, though, I text. I actually texted
- 47:28Speaker 3: your information during one of the other breaks to Johnny
- 47:30Speaker 3: Rutherford at Metro nine to one one, and hopefully, like
- 47:33Speaker 3: we did last week, we'll get an answer on the situation.
- 47:35Speaker 3: To see what the situation is. I think they were
- 47:37Speaker 3: kind of under the impression that it was just a
- 47:39Speaker 3: broadcastify situation, but apparently it goes beyond that, according to
- 47:43Speaker 3: what this texture is saying. So I've got the info
- 47:45Speaker 3: into Metro nine to one one's John Rutherford. So if
- 47:48Speaker 3: I get an answer for you, I will certainly let
- 47:51Speaker 3: you know. Remember on the show yesterday, I made a
- 47:55Speaker 3: comment about Taylor Swift endorsing Kamala Harris following the debate
- 48:02Speaker 3: the other night, and a lot of people, and you know,
- 48:03Speaker 3: I'm like a lot of people when it comes to celebrities.
- 48:07Speaker 3: They have just as much right to give their opinion
- 48:10Speaker 3: as anybody else does. My only issue is why should
- 48:12Speaker 3: we Why should we care more about what Taylor Swift
- 48:15Speaker 3: or some football player thinks over the guy who's fixing
- 48:18Speaker 3: your car or whatever. I mean, we're all the same,
- 48:20Speaker 3: we're all Americans. But I did say that if you
- 48:23Speaker 3: don't think that's a big deal, that you're not paying
- 48:27Speaker 3: attention to how big Taylor Swift truly is. Got some
- 48:29Speaker 3: information sent to me this morning from a friend of
- 48:33Speaker 3: mine in DC, and it says, as you predicted on
- 48:36Speaker 3: your show yesterday, Dave In the first fifteen hours after
- 48:41Speaker 3: Taylor Swift's post, there were about three hundred and thirty
- 48:44Speaker 3: eight thousand visitors to the website vote dot gov that
- 48:51Speaker 3: referred was that were referred from the custom u r
- 48:53Speaker 3: L created and shared by miss Swift. The group vote
- 48:57Speaker 3: dot org also said it saw a fifty eight percent
- 49:00Speaker 3: spike in engagement around the debate and Taylor Swift's endorsements.
- 49:06Speaker 3: The CEO vote dot org Andrea Haley, said in a
- 49:12Speaker 3: statement Swift's impact on voter engagement is undeniable. There have
- 49:17Speaker 3: been over four hundred thousand new voter registration since Taylor
- 49:23Speaker 3: Swift's posts, over four hundred thousand since that post.
- 49:27Speaker 15: They're eating the dogs, the people that came in, They're
- 49:30Speaker 15: eating the cats.
- 49:32Speaker 3: I don't know why that. I don't know where that
- 49:34Speaker 3: came from. So the debate reaction can to my point
- 49:37Speaker 3: on the Taylor Swift things is if you just want
- 49:39Speaker 3: to dismiss it and say, well, that's not a big deal,
- 49:40Speaker 3: Yeah it was. It was kind of a big deal.
- 49:43Speaker 3: It really was. But Dave Allen showing five Day Live
- 49:46Speaker 3: Bright to you a party by Husband's Pizza this month

- 49:50Speaker 3: pizza and an eight inch chocolate chip cookie for only
- 49:52Speaker 3: twenty three ninety nine. So debate reaction continues. Some texts
- 49:56Speaker 3: I didn't get to yesterday. One of the text referring
- 49:59Speaker 3: to Vice president and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris as being
- 50:03Speaker 3: my candidate. I got so many texts here I can't
- 50:06Speaker 3: call it the exact text, but basically they said, what
- 50:08Speaker 3: about my candidate, Kamala Harris. I have stated on this
- 50:13Speaker 3: show before, and I'm not part of the news team,
- 50:15Speaker 3: so I don't necessarily have to be objective. I don't
- 50:19Speaker 3: plan for voting for either Kamala Harris or for Donald Trump.
- 50:23Speaker 3: I'm not a fan of either candidate. So that may
- 50:26Speaker 3: be wrong, wrong, wrong headed, as somebody told me the
- 50:29Speaker 3: other day on that. But if I'm not a fan
- 50:31Speaker 3: of either candidate, at least I can look myself in
- 50:35Speaker 3: the mirror at night and say that I'm not responsible.
- 50:40Speaker 3: But either way, come January, whether Donald Trump is the
- 50:45Speaker 3: next president of the United States or Kamala Harris is
- 50:48Speaker 3: the next president of the United States, that person will
- 50:51Speaker 3: be my president. You've heard me say this before. I
- 50:53Speaker 3: don't get into this crap I don't get into all
- 50:58Speaker 3: this crap about that's not my president. Yeah, you're a
- 51:01Speaker 3: United States citizen. It is your president, whether you like
- 51:03Speaker 3: it or not, whether it's Harris, whether it's Trump, it
- 51:05Speaker 3: is your president. Tex says that you're butt hurt from
- 51:10Speaker 3: all that fence setting. Well, you know it is. It
- 51:15Speaker 3: is what it is. But as far as the thing
- 51:17Speaker 3: with the eating, eating the pets, and you know that
- 51:20Speaker 3: we've talked about before. They're eating the dogs, the people
- 51:24Speaker 3: that came in, they're eating the cats. It's been debunked
- 51:29Speaker 3: and debunked in fact one social media. I mean, I
- 51:34Speaker 3: don't know how more you can debunk it. And you
- 51:37Speaker 3: can send me all the TikTok videos you want, you
- 51:39Speaker 3: can send it, send me clips from city council. The
- 51:42Speaker 3: city of Springfield has said it's not happening. Law enforcement
- 51:46Speaker 3: have said it. The Republican governor said it isn't happening.
- 51:49Speaker 3: I don't know what more you want. Matter of fact,
- 51:51Speaker 3: there was the one story about the supposed animal eating
- 51:58Speaker 3: that didn't even happen in Springfield. It was actually Anton, Ohio.
- 52:01Speaker 3: The parents of a kid who was killed by a
- 52:03Speaker 3: drunk driver by an illegal alien have asked President Trump
- 52:07Speaker 3: to please stop using their child as political fodder. That
- 52:09Speaker 3: was their word. Final text says, I'm ashamed of the
- 52:12Speaker 3: people in my beloved Republican party for nominating yet again
- 52:15Speaker 3: the disaster that is Donald Trump. Horrible decision that has
- 52:18Speaker 3: cost us another four years, and I am a Republican,
- 52:21Speaker 3: says a text. But Dave Allan showing five eighty live
