UTA Proposes 50-Cent Fare Hike | Salt Lake City News
UTA is preparing to raise its base transit fare by 50 cents — from $2.50 to $3 — possibly as early as 2027, to cover soaring operational costs since 2020. While gas prices play a role, nearly everything else has gotten more expensive. The agency is also testing a “tap to pay” system for easier payments via credit card or mobile wallet, especially for visitors and infrequent riders.
