- 0:23Speaker 1: dot org. Golf dot Breck dot org. Good time to
- 0:26Speaker 1: remind you that OTAs are voluntary. You're a voluntary but
- 0:33Speaker 1: it's a step in the off season for NFL teams,
- 0:35Speaker 1: including the New Orleans Saints, which begin year two of
- 0:38Speaker 1: the Kellen Moore era, and Kellen Moore did, in fact
- 0:41Speaker 1: meet with reporters after practice day two of OTAs to
- 0:45Speaker 1: tail folks out, went.
- 0:47Speaker 2: This is practice two for us. Yesterday we had a
- 0:49Speaker 2: good practice, more of a first and second down introductory day.
- 0:52Speaker 2: That's kind of the focus here. OTAs in general, just
- 0:55Speaker 2: from a philosophical approach, really scheme install ton of fundamental
- 0:58Speaker 2: work and then get into some of the physical condition.
- 1:01Speaker 2: We just viewed OTA's as a ramp up right into
- 1:03Speaker 2: training camp and so we're trying to get these guys
- 1:05Speaker 2: in really good football shape and just keep building as
- 1:07Speaker 2: we go.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Football shape, a little bit of install built toward camp.
- 1:12Speaker 1: We also learned here on Thursday that New Orleans will
- 1:16Speaker 1: have three sets of joint practices when they get into
- 1:20Speaker 1: the preseason, So it is ramping up here into the offseason.
- 1:23Speaker 1: This is just the push off from the dock point. Now,
- 1:25Speaker 1: I mentioned that OTAs are voluntary, so it is very
- 1:30Speaker 1: common that veteran players choose not to go. They go
- 1:34Speaker 1: work out on their own. That's completely acceptable and fine.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Organization generally is fine with it as long as there's
- 1:39Speaker 1: communication and all that sort of stuff, despite the fact
- 1:43Speaker 1: that they continue contract talks. Chris alave is and has
- 1:47Speaker 1: been at OTAs, as Kellen Moore discussed.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Certainly you recognize, you know, not everyone goes down you know,
- 1:54Speaker 2: that path and that situation, because there's a business side
- 1:57Speaker 2: to this that we all understand and respect, and you know,
- 1:59Speaker 2: that's part of this thing for everyone that's a part
- 2:01Speaker 2: of the NFL. And he has done an awesome job
- 2:03Speaker 2: of off season. He's prepared really really well. I mean
- 2:05Speaker 2: he looks really really good, and you know that group
- 2:08Speaker 2: spent a lot of time. You know, certainly in the
- 2:10Speaker 2: back end of last year with Tyler and then this
- 2:12Speaker 2: Hilost season. You can just see the continuity that these
- 2:14Speaker 2: guys are creating.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I'm coming back to more receiver conversation because that is
- 2:18Speaker 1: going to be a giant part of this offseason. You
- 2:21Speaker 1: heard Kellen Morris say they're creating continuity with Tyler Tyler Schuck.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Of course, so this last year, at this time, Tyler
- 2:28Speaker 1: Schuck wasn't the starter. Last year, at this time, he
- 2:31Speaker 1: was a rookie getting his sea legs and was going
- 2:34Speaker 1: to be competing with Spencer Ratler for the job, who
- 2:36Speaker 1: ultimately started the season. It's very different now with Tyler
- 2:39Speaker 1: Schuck as the undeniable leader. So they got to ramp up.
- 2:42Speaker 1: But the other sort of notable attendance mark here was
- 2:47Speaker 1: Alvin Kamara, who was not there. Again, no big deal,
- 2:51Speaker 1: jeff Don contold us today ago they did not expect
- 2:53Speaker 1: Alvin Kamara to be there and been in Otia is
- 2:55Speaker 1: the last three years, so no big deal there, But
- 2:57Speaker 1: he was Kellen Moore on a timeline for Kamara.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and I don't think we can put timelines on
- 3:02Speaker 2: any of this stuff, you know, we're just kind of
- 3:04Speaker 2: working through the roster, and again this time of year,
- 3:06Speaker 2: there's you know, some of these guys they tritionally haven't
- 3:08Speaker 2: come this time of year, which is you know, as
- 3:10Speaker 2: part of their kind of rhythm and routine as far
- 3:12Speaker 2: as the off season program. And so we'll just work
- 3:14Speaker 2: continue to work through that.
- 3:15Speaker 1: So Alvin Kamara not there, no timeline, I think a
- 3:20Speaker 1: giant part of ramping up to the off season or
- 3:24Speaker 1: the other running backs. I think it is certainly worth
- 3:27Speaker 1: noting how Chen looks, and remember old Kendre Miller coming
- 3:32Speaker 1: back off of injury. If the Saints feel like they
- 3:35Speaker 1: have better options than running backs, they're gonna move on
- 3:37Speaker 1: from Alvin Kamara. It's why they restructure the contract to
- 3:40Speaker 1: give themselves the option to move on from ak if
- 3:43Speaker 1: they wanted to. Kellen Moore didn't have a lot to say,
- 3:45Speaker 1: but did get his first look at Chin.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Yeah, Trav's done awesome job. He's been here, I mean
- 3:51Speaker 2: each and every day working his tail off. It's it's
- 3:54Speaker 2: been awesome. Obviously he's got an acclimation period coming into
- 3:56Speaker 2: a new organization and so that's a part of this.
- 3:59Speaker 2: But he's done excellent.
- 4:00Speaker 1: John, you paid him fifty four million dollars. Also notable
- 4:04Speaker 1: that he worked that he has a tail. This is
- 4:06Speaker 1: a running back, but you heard him say it. I'm
- 4:09Speaker 1: sorry he had a tale. Well, he's worked his tail off. Okay,
- 4:14Speaker 1: had a tale, had a tale. He worked it off.
- 4:18Speaker 1: So notable that the tale was there, but it's off
- 4:21Speaker 1: since he worked it off. So no more tale for agent.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Hard work right there. A little weird that he showed
- 4:26Speaker 1: up with a tail. I'm not judging. Some people have tails.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Agent had a tail, but he worked it off. Don't
- 4:34Speaker 1: know if Kendre Miller's ever had a tail, but here's
- 4:36Speaker 1: the update.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Yeah, still working through the recovery process. And so you know,
- 4:42Speaker 2: I don't necessarily see him out there in the in
- 4:44Speaker 2: the football elements, but he's done an awesome john.
- 4:50Speaker 1: For a guy who sometimes gets wordy and wax his
- 4:52Speaker 1: poetic as Kellen Moore at times is wont to do
- 4:57Speaker 1: a seven second answer on Kendre Miller. That did instill
- 5:02Speaker 1: a lot of confidence.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Did it?
- 5:05Speaker 1: Kendra Miller last year played in seven games with the Saints,
- 5:08Speaker 1: had forty seven carries for a buck ninety three average
- 5:10Speaker 1: four yards of carry.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Actually, remember last year, in the preseason, he kind of
- 5:13Speaker 3: looked explosive. He looked good on some kickoff returns. It
- 5:16Speaker 3: felt like it felt like a new beginning. You know,
- 5:21Speaker 3: get him a bread maker. It's a new beginning. Even
- 5:24Speaker 3: if you stole the bread maker and regifted it. It
- 5:26Speaker 3: was a new beginning for Kendre Miller a year ago,
- 5:30Speaker 3: and then he got hurt, which was the same old result.
- 5:32Speaker 3: So you want something to keep an eye on as
- 5:34Speaker 3: that as far as Kamara, like, Kamara will be back
- 5:39Speaker 3: if they don't feel like they have good options. But
- 5:41Speaker 3: if Achient, who of course they broke him off with
- 5:43Speaker 3: fifty four million dollars, he's gonna be your lead back.
- 5:46Speaker 3: But if Kendre Miller's healthy and they like Devin Neil
- 5:48Speaker 3: who was coming off injury and got Audric Estimate still
- 5:50Speaker 3: hanging around, then I think you could see them move
- 5:53Speaker 3: on from Alvin Kamara. But this is why this offseason
- 5:56Speaker 3: work I think is relevant for the New Orleans Saints.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Now back to the point about the receivers. Okay, because
- 6:03Speaker 3: notable that a Lave was there and some of the
- 6:05Speaker 3: photos if you saw him from OTA's today that the
- 6:07Speaker 3: Saints released from yesterday and today, we're Jordan Tyson the
- 6:11Speaker 3: first round pick Chris Olave side by side, which they're
- 6:14Speaker 3: hoping we'll create this incredible one two tandem and it
- 6:18Speaker 3: certainly is going to be notable. Having Jordan Tyson out
- 6:22Speaker 3: there after Remember at rookie camp, he was there the
- 6:26Speaker 3: first day, they did not participate him the second day.
- 6:29Speaker 3: This was Kellen Moore after practice talking about Tyson's reps
- 6:35Speaker 3: there and if they're still going to be limited here
- 6:36Speaker 3: in OTAs.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll still control his his volume, you know, for
- 6:40Speaker 2: a number of these guys. You know, again, we the
- 6:43Speaker 2: end goal is we got to have an awesome training camp.
- 6:45Speaker 2: We gotta be set up for that standpoint, and so
- 6:47Speaker 2: we're going to control reps for a lot of these
- 6:48Speaker 2: guys and so they'll we'll utilize them in the ways
- 6:51Speaker 2: we can and continue to build them and I'll go
- 6:53Speaker 2: not just for Jordan, but a lot of them.
- 6:55Speaker 1: So the one follow up was on the workload that
- 7:00Speaker 1: Jordan Tyson's had the first two days.
- 7:02Speaker 2: He was out there doing a little bit, Yeah, just
- 7:04Speaker 2: a little bit incorporate with like, I don't know, he
- 7:08Speaker 2: won't do any seven on seven today, he'll do a
- 7:10Speaker 2: couple of the more of the walkthrough type speed.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Now I just got done telling you. With respect to
- 7:17Speaker 1: Kendre Miller, oh ellen Moore. Ellen Moore didn't have a
- 7:25Speaker 1: lot to say. Didn't have a lot to say there
- 7:27Speaker 1: about Jordan Tyson either, a little close to the vest,
- 7:29Speaker 1: but Jordan Tyson spot on this rosters obviously locked up.
- 7:34Speaker 1: One guy who is certainly worth watching is Jalen Polk,
- 7:38Speaker 1: and he's fascinating because remember, Jalen Polk was a first
- 7:41Speaker 1: round pick out of the University of Washington, and he
- 7:45Speaker 1: effectively took a red shirt year last year because the
- 7:48Speaker 1: Saints traded for him knowing he was injured and having
- 7:52Speaker 1: a really disappointing start to his career. But yeah, when
- 7:56Speaker 1: he came out of Washington and was was in New
- 7:59Speaker 1: England and they knew he was gonna miss the season,
- 8:02Speaker 1: but they traded for him, giving up late draft capital
- 8:07Speaker 1: to bring Polk to New Orleans. Let him sit last
- 8:10Speaker 1: year with this offense, right, Kellen Moore's offense coming in,
- 8:15Speaker 1: and then have this year to see if this is
- 8:17Speaker 1: the opportunity he could emerge. And you're talking about a
- 8:19Speaker 1: dude that's six' to, one two hundred and three pounds physical,
- 8:22Speaker 1: receiver was a great player in That washington team that
- 8:25Speaker 1: went all the way to The National Championship, game and
- 8:27Speaker 1: after sitting for a year now getting, healthy he's got his,
- 8:30Speaker 1: opportunity and yet he's participating here In. OTAs finally was
- 8:33Speaker 1: on the.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Field it was. FUN i feel Like i've Seen jalen
- 8:36Speaker 2: so much this whole past almost calendar year, now and
- 8:39Speaker 2: so it was great to see him out. THERE i,
- 8:41Speaker 2: mean you, know obviously we thought really highly of him
- 8:43Speaker 2: being able to acquire him From New. England it's been
- 8:46Speaker 2: a great exposure And i'm excited for.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Him, well you're gonna have a, deep talented receiver group
- 8:55Speaker 1: with a variety of sizes and skill. Sets remember a year, Ago,
- 9:00Speaker 1: oh my criticism was you had a bunch of dudes
- 9:04Speaker 1: that were the same. Dude you Had Brandon, cooks who
- 9:08Speaker 1: was your offseason, acquisition who looked a lot Like Rashid,
- 9:12Speaker 1: shaheed who looked a lot Like Chris. Olave these dudes similar,
- 9:15Speaker 1: size skimular, skill similar skill. Sets until you brought into Von,
- 9:20Speaker 1: velay who the first seven games was not very, productive
- 9:24Speaker 1: started to get productive near the end and then got
- 9:27Speaker 1: injured missed the rest of the. Season but now you
- 9:29Speaker 1: look at this receiver group that The saints, have and
- 9:33Speaker 1: you're talking about dudes with different sizes and skill, sets
- 9:35Speaker 1: which is really really. Encouraging and when you look At
- 9:40Speaker 1: Chris olave who's six foot eighty, Seven Jalen polk six
- 9:43Speaker 1: one two, Three Jordan tyson six to two hundred, Pounds
- 9:48Speaker 1: Devon vle six five to, ten you're looking at dudes
- 9:52Speaker 1: with different, size different skill, sets, abilities power, strength size
- 9:56Speaker 1: to go over the middle deep threats Like Jeorde. Tyson,
- 9:59Speaker 1: yes very much in favor of what they've done. Here
- 10:02Speaker 1: the other very notable part of the, offense as we,
- 10:05Speaker 1: mentioned is you finally are going into this this year,
- 10:08Speaker 1: too which is very different from a year ago because
- 10:11Speaker 1: a year ago you had a quarterback competition With shuck And.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Rattler now there is no. Competition they're both still, there
- 10:16Speaker 1: but this Is shuck's. Team there's no. Ambiguity And Kellen
- 10:19Speaker 1: moore was asked about how different it is With Tyler
- 10:21Speaker 1: shuck not having to go into a competition to go
- 10:23Speaker 1: into the.
- 10:24Speaker 2: OFFSEASON i think there's a leadership component when you know
- 10:27Speaker 2: you're kind of leading the. Charge there's there's a leadership
- 10:29Speaker 2: thing that he's certainly showcased throughout this whole, offseason just
- 10:32Speaker 2: with you, know kind of rallying these guys and working
- 10:34Speaker 2: as much as they have worked through this whole off.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Season and then from an on field, standpoint obviously he's
- 10:39Speaker 2: got a great foundation with what we you, know did last.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Year we're gonna make plenty of adjustments and have a
- 10:44Speaker 2: little nuances and he's a part of that. Process and
- 10:46Speaker 2: SO i think that's the fun part of this is
- 10:48Speaker 2: every day we're going to kind of be able to
- 10:49Speaker 2: build off of something we've done in the. Past we're
- 10:51Speaker 2: gonna be able to put some new stuff in and
- 10:53Speaker 2: make some adjustments and build it.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Together only day two Of SAINTS'. OTAs this is only
- 10:59Speaker 1: day and so you're gonna have this offseason workout schedule
- 11:05Speaker 1: which is going to persist as you move Throughout. June
- 11:09Speaker 1: you had this two DAY. OTAs they'll be back on
- 11:11Speaker 1: the Field june, first then the, third, fourth, eighth, tenth
- 11:15Speaker 1: and eleventh THROUGHOUT. Ota, so As kellen, said, there it's
- 11:18Speaker 1: an opportunity to get into football shape and to do
- 11:21Speaker 1: some insult and ramp up toward training, camp which is
- 11:25Speaker 1: what we're all really looking forward. To year two of
- 11:27Speaker 1: The Kellen moore, era but they're often running. Here
