- 0:19Hello, and welcome to episode 335 of the All Systems Go Sports
- 0:25Betting podcast powered by Rhythm.
- 0:28I'm your host, Josh Applebaum. What's going on everyone?
- 0:36Happy Wednesday. Happy hump day, guys.
- 0:39We are halfway through our work week and oh what a day it was
- 0:42yesterday. I'll give you the the overall
- 0:45reason why it was a great day and then reason that was also a
- 0:48great day. The first up was the fact that
- 0:50we had another sweep of the board. 3 and O + 2.38 units, 6
- 0:55and O. Our last six pod plays did have
- 0:58a nice one with Seattle 1 Nothing.
- 1:00Yesterday. All we needed was one run and
- 1:02then the the Mariners were able to lock that down and get that
- 1:06one. Nothing.
- 1:06Win the Brew Crew. Oh my God, have you seen the
- 1:09team hotter than the Brewers laying -125 they went 14 to
- 1:13nothing roughing up Paul Skeens and then a late night sweat with
- 1:16the Padres winning 5 to 1. Had another great great dog
- 1:20divisional dog line move there in in favor of the pods.
- 1:23So a nice little 3 and O yesterday plus 2.38 units, A6
- 1:27and O around 5 units over the last couple days.
- 1:30And I I would argue you know why we're hot right now?
- 1:33Because there's something going on with the gambling gods in the
- 1:35sports betting world. Because this big hot stretch has
- 1:38coincided with the release of my second book, Barry in the lead
- 1:41today, guys. But the NFL sharp betting
- 1:43playbook debuted yesterday came out for everyone to to read and
- 1:47get their hands on. You can get the paperback copy
- 1:50old school if you're at a beach or like reading a book.
- 1:53Do people still read books? I hope they do because I just
- 1:54wrote my second one. But then you can also get the
- 1:56audio book if you're the type of person that wants to listen to
- 1:59it in the car or maybe listen to it when you're while you're
- 2:02making dinner or maybe you won't take the dog for a walk.
- 2:05You want to put some headphones in the audio book as well as
- 2:08paperback. And you know what was even
- 2:10better about yesterday's debut? We went straight to number one,
- 2:13baby. If you look at the Amazon best
- 2:15seller list in the category of sports gambling, we are #1 So
- 2:20what an incredible day it was yesterday.
- 2:22I want to thank all of you who have purchased the book, whether
- 2:26it's a pre-order or you picked it up yesterday, but it is fully
- 2:29available completely. And again, now's the time where
- 2:32it's really kind of the dog days of summer.
- 2:34We're grinding baseball, obviously, but football is it's
- 2:36about to get crazy around here, guys.
- 2:38So if you wanted to support the team, if you wanted to really
- 2:41more importantly, not just, you know, support your podcast host
- 2:44and your author over here, but get some benefit to you by being
- 2:47able to brush up on how to bet the NFL.
- 2:50There's still time to bet some win totals.
- 2:51I'll have a final batch of all my futures bets.
- 2:54We'll talk about that prior to Week 1.
- 2:57But then of course, how to bet pre season.
- 2:59Already looking at NFL Week 1 win totals.
- 3:01We still got to hit on divisional bet, stuff like that,
- 3:04but it's a great refresher to get you excited for the football
- 3:07season. So thank you for making it
- 3:09number one. I can't believe it.
- 3:10Number one on Amazon. I also wanted to make a small
- 3:14request if you did purchase the book, you guys have already been
- 3:17tweeting me a little, little little photo of the book and I
- 3:20would love for you guys to continue to do that.
- 3:22My buddy Da Rush did it. I want to give a quick shout out
- 3:25to everyone who has tweeted out a picture of the the NFL sharp
- 3:29betting playbook. So we got my buddy Derouche
- 3:31Bears nation living the dream Vegas, Mitch Bossy had the
- 3:36Montag group. My agent tweeted out A at as
- 3:40smart wad love that handle there horses in hockey, my buddy Andy
- 3:45Gresh, Willie Tomlinson, my buddy Mike Fedotowski, Mike
- 3:49Barton, as well as triumph books.
- 3:51And again, all you guys have been tweeting a photo of it.
- 3:53Keep it coming because I will retweet you and I love seeing
- 3:56the book like in terms of like people holding it or at their
- 4:00desk or in front of something cool.
- 4:02So keep it rolling here. Tweet me a copy or or screenshot
- 4:06or a photo of you with the book. And then also I'm going to ask
- 4:08for as many five star reviews on Amazon as possible because we're
- 4:12number one right now. But really we want to have the
- 4:15strongest five star reviews. I've already got one under the
- 4:18belt. But I want you guys, if you
- 4:20wouldn't mind to spend a couple minutes, give the the NFL sharp
- 4:23Betting Playbook A5 star review on Amazon and then nice little
- 4:27blurb. Maybe you say, hey, I really
- 4:29enjoyed Josh's first book. This one's even better.
- 4:32Like the section on betting systems or I had no bankroll
- 4:35management. I really enjoyed the section on
- 4:37bankroll management or not parlaying or I'm brand new to
- 4:40betting and provided me a blueprint, whatever it may be. 5
- 4:43star reviews with, with some couple, it all takes a sentence
- 4:47or two. If you want to go more in depth,
- 4:49hey, that's even better. But seriously guys, we're we
- 4:51debuted #1 Can you believe that? I'm pretty proud of it and it
- 4:54just goes to show the thirst, I would say for data-driven
- 4:57betting. Sports betting is getting
- 4:59legalized pretty much everywhere you look except for ironically
- 5:02the big states, California, Texas and Florida.
- 5:05But I think there's a thirst for betting and people realize
- 5:08number one, they think betting is easy.
- 5:10They find out that it's hard and then number 2, they realize I
- 5:13can't just throw darts. I can't just bet on what I think
- 5:15will happen. I need a blueprint to attack.
- 5:17Obviously the number one sport here, the NFL, but betting in
- 5:20general and that's what the NFL Sharp Betting Playbook does.
- 5:23So thank you for purchasing it. If you haven't done yet, please
- 5:26order a copy from Amazon.com. Tweet me your pictures of the
- 5:30book and also five star reviews with some some little blurbs.
- 5:34That would be super, super cool of you guys as well.
- 5:37So that being said, six and O I'm not looking for another 3
- 5:39and O, but I'll take a 2IN1 eke out of winning day.
- 5:41But we're going to get right back to do what we love to do,
- 5:44which is betting on Major League Baseball because pretty soon,
- 5:47you know, we got August, we got September, we'll have the
- 5:49playoffs. But baseball's, you know,
- 5:51there's still a good chunk left, but I want to embrace all these
- 5:54baseball days we have because they're not going to be here
- 5:57forever. So that being said, three pack
- 5:59overall to guy today, guys, let's waste no more time and
- 6:02dive right in. First one on the board for me.
- 6:05Let's go to Cleveland where the Guardians are hosting the Miami
- 6:08Marlins 6:40 PM Eastern Time, first pitch.
- 6:11So setting the stage for this interleague match up, the guards
- 6:14who are 62 and 56 and now on the heels of Detroit.
- 6:18Or are they 5-6 games back in the Yale Central, which is crazy
- 6:21because they're like 15 games back a month ago.
- 6:23But anyway, they won the opener last night against the Marlins,
- 6:264 to 3. Came through as a -135 home
- 6:28favorite pitching match up for tonight.
- 6:30Looks pretty good. The Marlins, who are 57 and 62,
- 6:33they're going to go with the ready Yuri Perez.
- 6:36He's four and three with a 3.25 ERA.
- 6:39He'll be opposed by Guardians righty Gavin Williams, who's
- 6:42seven and four with a 3.17 ERA. More on Williams in a second.
- 6:45If you remember his last start, this line opened with Cleveland
- 6:49around a -, 120 -, 125 home favorite.
- 6:52Miami around a + 105 Rd. Dog and sharps.
- 6:55You're saying let's ride the hot hand here?
- 6:57Guardians I believe are 16 and seven since the All Star break.
- 7:00But we have seen Cleveland get steamed up.
- 7:02They open -120 -, 125 now they're up to -135.
- 7:07I jumped on the guards at -135 again, but shop around.
- 7:11Some books are closer to -140. We have some pretty good splits
- 7:14on Cleveland. Number one at DraftKings, 70% of
- 7:18bets, 82% of dollars, and then at Circa, 67% of bets, 80% of
- 7:24dollars. So both DraftKings and Circa
- 7:26with some good pro and Joe splits low bets higher dollars
- 7:29in favor of the home chalk. Now, once it's the match that
- 7:32lights up for me on Cleveland, which I really like, if you're a
- 7:35short home favorite -140 or less, you're getting line
- 7:38movement and you're coming off a win.
- 7:40Since July 1st, those teams have been really good, 53 and 3262%,
- 7:45but because of the short chalk price, it's actually a 12% ROI.
- 7:49The Guardians in particular have been pretty good in this spot.
- 7:52When they are a favorite, they're the third best chalk
- 7:54team in baseball, 33 and 1964 percent, 9% ROI.
- 7:59And when they are a favorite against a below 500 club,
- 8:02they've typically done well taking care of business.
- 8:04They're 27 and 1466 percent, 12% ROI.
- 8:09Cleveland would have that interleague favorite betting
- 8:13system value, so lack of familiarity benefiting quote UN
- 8:16quote the better team and we also have Cleveland with some
- 8:18correlative betting value. So this game is a very low total
- 8:21of 8, some books even down to 7 1/2 and we have Cleveland
- 8:25obviously favored. So lines moving further to
- 8:27Cleveland, it's a low total. Typically that bodes well
- 8:30because you would expect the fewer amount of run scored to
- 8:33come from more likely the better team was expected to win.
- 8:36I mentioned Gavin Williams, I learned the hard way.
- 8:38I bet against Williams his last start out.
- 8:40I remember I was on the Mets, that was a podcast play and
- 8:43Gavin Williams almost had a no hitter.
- 8:44I believe he took a no hitter into the 9th and maybe with one
- 8:47or two outs he gave up a home run.
- 8:49I think DeSoto, but still he has a 0.61 ERA in two August starts.
- 8:55He's only giving up one run in 14.2 and he's pitched.
- 8:58He's giving up two earned runs or less in four straight starts
- 9:01and at home he's been pretty good five and two 2.77 ERA.
- 9:05So I want to back Williams. He's really throwing the ball
- 9:07well right now. On the other hand, Yuri Perez
- 9:10got good stats overall, but last two starts, 3.97 ERA, five runs
- 9:15allowed in 11.1 innings pitched. And at home, the guy's been
- 9:19great. Two point O 8 ERA, but on the
- 9:21road, 4 point O1. So he's struggled a little bit
- 9:24in August and he's been worse on the road than at home and he's
- 9:26on the road tonight. Last 10 Guardians have played
- 9:29very well. They're eight and two over the
- 9:31last 10 games. They have a 2.87 team ERA.
- 9:34They're pitching very well. Marlins, meanwhile, 3 and seven
- 9:37over their last 10 ERA of a little bit over 6.
- 9:40Then lastly, a little bit of home Rd.
- 9:42Nothing crazy, but Cleveland is 30 and 27 at home.
- 9:45Miami is 29 and 31 on the road. So we have a line move toward
- 9:49Cleveland. We have a really good pro and
- 9:52Joe bet split. We got some good system matches
- 9:54here. Correlative betting,
- 9:55interleague, favorite value. I lead it here with the
- 9:58guardian. So let's see if we can hopefully
- 10:00start the night off with a guardians when they've been red
- 10:02hot. Let's keep it going, let's go
- 10:03Gavin Williams. I got Cleveland -135 at Bet MGM,
- 10:09next one for you. Let's go right back to the
- 10:11Bronx. Let's get some New York style
- 10:13pizza. Let's go swit the Yankees 7:05
- 10:16PM Eastern Time, first pitch the Twins at the aforementioned New
- 10:19York Yankees. Now the Yankees have taken the
- 10:22first two games of this three-game set.
- 10:24Yankees are 64 and 56 on the year.
- 10:27They won the opener six to two. Remember, he played in the other
- 10:29night, came through as a -180 home favorite and they won again
- 10:32yesterday, 9:00 to 1:00 as a - 215 home favorite.
- 10:36So pitching matchup for tonight, Twins who are 56 and 63.
- 10:41They're going to go with the righty Joe Ryan, the last man
- 10:44standing as everyone else has been traded.
- 10:46He's been good 11 and five 2.79 ERA.
- 10:49Yankees meanwhile, going with Cam Schlitter, the righty one
- 10:53and two 4.38 ERA. Now this game open New York, NY
- 10:58around a -. 125 home favorite Minnesota around a plus one O 5
- 11:01Rd. dog. And you would think on paper,
- 11:03Joe Ryan greater than Cam Schlitter, right?
- 11:07However, the market is fading, Ryan, and moving further up
- 11:09toward the Yankees because the Yankees have gotten steamed up
- 11:12-125 up to -150 I got Yankees -150 at FanDuel.
- 11:17Shop around though, because some books are closer to -155.
- 11:20Now, if we look at the splits in particular in Vegas out at
- 11:23Circa, only 39% of bets are on the Yankees, but it accounts for
- 11:28a little more than half the money.
- 11:29So that would be a sharp contrarian, low bets, higher
- 11:32dollar split telling us those bigger wise guy wagers are on.
- 11:35The Yankees do have some system matches on New York favorites
- 11:39off a win with a winning record getting at least $0.05 of line
- 11:42movement and they also made the playoffs the previous year.
- 11:45That system is 140 and 6867 percent, 5% ROI this season.
- 11:51Another system here is a non division home favorite -160 or
- 11:54less off a win getting line movement.
- 11:57They're 101 and 6262 percent, 9% ROI.
- 12:01So 2 good matchups or two system matches in favor of New York.
- 12:05The Yankees would have that non division favorite value.
- 12:07So lack of familiarity benefiting quote UN quote.
- 12:10The better team was expected to win.
- 12:12Yankees bats have kind of come alive this series.
- 12:14They struggled prior. Let's hope that continues
- 12:17because the Yankees do have the better offense.
- 12:19Hitting 250 on the year, 190 home runs, 611 runs scored.
- 12:24Twins hitting 239 only 140 homers, 497 runs scored.
- 12:29And lastly a little bit of home Rd.
- 12:31Minnesota has really struggled on the road, 24 and 38.
- 12:35Yankees pretty good at home, 37 and 24.
- 12:38So big steam toward New York again.
- 12:41Joe Ryan's a good pitcher. This almost reminds me a little
- 12:43bit of the the Brewers and Paul Skeens last night where Skeens,
- 12:47great pitcher, but the line was moving a little bit further
- 12:49toward Milwaukee. Same sort of thing here.
- 12:52So hopefully the Yankees offense comes to play once again.
- 12:55We got line movement, really good system matches here.
- 12:57Home Rd. splits, better offense. I lead it with the Yankees.
- 13:01I got New York at -150 last bit of the night.
- 13:05Anybody want to stay up late? Sweat this one with me. 10 O
- 13:085:00 PM Eastern Time, the Tampa Bay Rays visiting the Athletics,
- 13:12not the Oakland Athletics, technically the Sacramento
- 13:14Athletics, but pretty soon they'll be in Vegas.
- 13:17Cannot wait for that because then I'll be able to go visit
- 13:19Vegas and I'll plan it around when the Red Sox visit the Vegas
- 13:23A's, which sounds pretty cool if you ask me.
- 13:25And also I believe it's a either a tractable roof or half roof or
- 13:29something like that because it gets very hot out there in the
- 13:31summer and you need a you need a roof out there and keep it cool.
- 13:35But anyway, this is the rubber match of a three-game set.
- 13:37The Rays, who are 58 and 63 on the year they won the opener 7
- 13:41to 4 came through as a - 110 Rd. pick em.
- 13:44Then we saw the A's who are 54 and 68.
- 13:47They went and bounced back with a six.
- 13:49Nothing win yesterday came through as a - 110 home pick em.
- 13:52So both games have been pick em games.
- 13:55However, for this one here tonight, we got the rays going
- 13:57with the righty Drew Rasmussen, who's nine and five with a 2.66
- 14:02ERA. More on him in a second.
- 14:03He's been really good all year long.
- 14:05The A's meanwhile, going with the righty JT Ginn.
- 14:07He's two and four with a 4.39 ERA.
- 14:10So what do you see across the market here?
- 14:12Well, this game opened Tampa Bay around a -, 120 Rd. favorite.
- 14:17So it wasn't a pick em game, but it was slightly toward Tampa A's
- 14:20around a plus one O 5 home dog. And we've seen this line move
- 14:22further toward the Tampa Bay Rays.
- 14:24Rays have now gotten steamed up -120 up to -130 I jumped on rays
- 14:29-130 at Bet MGM. Shop around.
- 14:32A lot of books are at 1:35 right now.
- 14:34But aside from this line move, some good splits coming down on
- 14:37Tampa Bay. They're getting 61% of money
- 14:40line bets, 74% of money line dollars at at DraftKings and
- 14:45then at Circa only half the tickets 50% but 90% of the
- 14:49money. So both books are showing a
- 14:51pretty good low bets higher dollar split, especially at
- 14:53circa with only half the tickets.
- 14:55But nine out of $10 system match here.
- 14:58That lit up for me on Tampa. If you are a road favorite and
- 15:01you just got shut out the previous game, those teams in
- 15:04the next game have gone 28 and 1664 percent, 11% ROI.
- 15:09Tampa would have that non division favorite value.
- 15:12So lack of familiarity hopefully benefiting that quote UN quote
- 15:15better team was expected to win, which would be Tampa here based
- 15:18on the -130 price. I wanted to mention a little bit
- 15:21more about Rasmussen, Rasmussen how we pronounce it.
- 15:24But he has a 0.00 ERA in two August starts.
- 15:28He's giving up zero runs in 11.1 innings pitched.
- 15:32He has given up two earned runs or less in seven straight starts
- 15:35and he's four and O with a 2.85 ERA on the road.
- 15:38So he's been good, good in August, really good his last
- 15:41seven starts and good on the road.
- 15:43Meanwhile, JT Ginn 6.75 ERA in two August starts, giving up
- 15:48seven runs and 9.1 innings pitched.
- 15:50He has a on the road he's respectable 3.29 ERA, but at
- 15:54home 5.54 ERA. So I want to back Rasmussen,
- 15:58Rasmussen and fade JT Ginn. Lastly, if this becomes a
- 16:03bullpen game, we got to sweat it.
- 16:05It is kind of a higher total 9 1/2, but the Rays do have the
- 16:08better pen. Team ERA of 3.72 versus 5.11 for
- 16:13the A's. That's the third worst in
- 16:14baseball. So it's the rubber match of a
- 16:16series. We've rotated win so far, but we
- 16:19open with a favorite with Tampa. They become more of a favorite.
- 16:22They got good splits. I really like the system match
- 16:24again Rd. favorite after getting shut out, winning 2/3 of the
- 16:27time basically, as well as hopefully the better pitcher on
- 16:30the bump. So I'm going to back to raising
- 16:32this one guys. I got a -130 bet MGM, but shop
- 16:36around some books now -135 S guardians, Yankees and rays.
- 16:41See if we can get two out of three and keep this little hot
- 16:44streak going. So that about does it for
- 16:46episode 335 of the All systems Go sports betting podcast
- 16:50powered by rhythm. This is the part of the pod
- 16:52where we wrap things up. And I always start first by
- 16:54saying thank you. Thank you for taking the time
- 16:56out of your day, out of your busy lives during the dog days
- 16:59of summer to tune in to sweat the pod with me to grind the
- 17:02sharp data-driven breakdowns and hopefully cash some tickets
- 17:05along the way. Obviously, we want to win every
- 17:07play we talk about, but I always mention with the pod, it's in
- 17:10the the bio description, the fact that we're really trying to
- 17:13teach a model like, you know, we pick three games a day, but
- 17:16there could be other games that you play that you incorporate
- 17:19some of these tips and strategies to help you identify
- 17:22a good sharp bet. But if you do enjoy this pod #1
- 17:25thank you and keep listening. But #2 any chance you could give
- 17:29it a five star review? That'd be very much appreciated
- 17:32on Spotify or iTunes. If you want to leave a nice
- 17:34comment under the review section or you would maybe want to
- 17:37recommend it to a friend or click the follow button, that
- 17:40also be fantastic. Next, if you enjoy this style of
- 17:43betting breakdown, data-driven, sharp, contrarian betting.
- 17:47Not betting based upon what we think or want or hope will
- 17:49happen are biases, but betting on based upon what the market is
- 17:53telling us. Trying to be with the sharps,
- 17:55trying to be against the public, trying to beat the closing line.
- 17:59Trying to look at splits and system matches.
- 18:01Making bets based on our head and not our heart.
- 18:03Based upon what the numbers are telling us, not what our gut
- 18:06instinct is telling us. If this style of betting has
- 18:08appealed to you, you want to learn more about data-driven
- 18:10betting, you have someone in your life who could use some
- 18:12data-driven tips. I would love for you guys to go
- 18:15to Amazon.com and buy one or both of my books.
- 18:19If you are literally just getting started, brand new to
- 18:21sports betting, then my first book, The Everything Guide to
- 18:24Sports Betting is great. It's got all the breakdowns of
- 18:27how lines are set, how and why they move, how to read line
- 18:29movement, how to locate sharp action, how to go contrarian,
- 18:32How to place a bet in person or online, How to shop for the best
- 18:35line, How to set up a bankroll management plan.
- 18:37But I would also love for you to pre-order.
- 18:40You know what, I got to stop saying that there's no more

- 21:39episode 335 of the ASG pod. As always guys, I'll leave you
- 21:42with two final thoughts. One, whether I see you at the
- 21:45Borgata and Atlantic City, Twin River in Rhode Island, the Brook
- 21:48of New Hampshire, Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun, down in
- 21:50Connecticut, at the Encore in Boston or Plain Ridge Park,
- 21:52Casino, MGM Springfield or the Nash and my Neck of the Woods.
- 21:56Or, of course, out in the desert where the true grinders get
- 21:59down, where Billy Walter sends his number runners, where the
- 22:01lowest juice possible is found at the South Point.
- 22:04Or sweat and sharp contrarian plays jumping in the stadium
- 22:06swimming pool. When you cash a big ticket at
- 22:08Circa, wherever it may be, you're going to walk up to me
- 22:11and we're just going to, we're going to pop open the janitor's
- 22:13closet, bust out a broom, do a little Fred Astaire dance on the
- 22:16sports book floor, show me a Padres ticket, a Brewers ticket,
- 22:20a Seattle Mariners ticket, 6 and O, our last six guys.
- 22:23Let's keep it rolling here. First one's on me, next one's on
- 22:25you, and we'll sweat the Guardians, Yanks, and Rays
- 22:28tonight. So as always, guys, whether
- 22:31we're three and O or O and three, six and O or O and 6:00,
- 22:34somewhere in the middle, hot, cold again, betting is easy when
- 22:37you're hot. It's really difficult when
- 22:39you're cold because you know, it's an emotional game.
- 22:42But we can never get too high when we're doing well and never
- 22:44get too low when we're struggling.
- 22:45You got to stick to the model, stick to the blueprint,
- 22:47disciplined with our bankroll management and just play the
- 22:50system matches. Avoid the games that got red
- 22:52flags. Get down on the games that check
- 22:54off our boxes, which at this point you might know are games
- 22:58that have simultaneously the opportunity to bet against the
- 23:02public, be with the house, be with the pros, flat bet, avoid
- 23:05parlays and get that CLV. If we can do that, we're going
- 23:08to be OK long term. So have a great Wednesday,
- 23:11everybody. We do have some college, not
- 23:13college football, but NFL pre season for tomorrow.
- 23:16And you know what? If you haven't done it yet, go
- 23:19buy a copy of the NFL sharp betting playbook.
- 23:22Let's keep it number one overall guys.
- 23:24But of course, have a great night and I'll see you back
- 23:27tomorrow for a Thirsty Thursday edition.
- 23:29That'll be episode 336 of the All Systems Go Sports Betting
- 23:33podcast powered by Rhythm. Good luck everybody and have a
- 23:36great Wednesday night.
