Speaker 3: going on in the community. To tell you about. One

Speaker 3: of those, it was happening tomorrow and into the weekend.
• 1:52
Speaker 3: It's a Yakfest in St. Albans and the tour to Cole.
• 1:55
Speaker 3: Adam Bryant is going to join us to talk about that.

Speaker 3: Also coming up here in a day or so, the
• 2:01
Speaker 3: West Side Neighborhood Association is having and just in time
• 2:06
  Speaker 3: for Father's Day, they're doing a this it's a competition.
• 2:10
Speaker 3: It's a competition of folks doing dad jokes, and our
• 2:14
Speaker 3: own Rob Reel from Assister Station ninety six to one
• 2:17
Speaker 3: KWS is going to be the MC of that. I
• 2:21
Speaker 3: love a good dad joke, I do, and so they
• 2:23
Speaker 3: couldn't get a better better guy to do that than Rob.
• 2:27
Speaker 3: So Rob is going to join us in studio along
• 2:29
Speaker 3: with Naomi Base from the organization. I think some other

• 2:44
Speaker 3: good friend from Bridge Valley, doctor Casey Sachs, Welcome to
• 2:47
  Speaker 3: the show.
• 2:48
Speaker 6: Good morning, Dave. So great to be here with you today.
• 2:51
Speaker 3: I gotta just throw this out here. So can we
• 2:54
Speaker 3: now say doctor Sachs goes to Washington? Is that right?
• 2:57
Speaker 6: I do about two weeks a month. I have the
• 2:59
Speaker 6: privilege of working on a couple of executive orders.
• 3:02
Speaker 3: So I mean, are you at liberty to discuss those?
• 3:04
Speaker 3: I mean, how you got this gig?
• 3:07
  Speaker 7: Sure?
• 3:08
Speaker 6: So I had previously worked at the United States Department
• 3:10
Speaker 6: of Education, and after President Trump signed the Executive Order
• 3:14
Speaker 6: about Apprenticeships and the Executive Order about Artificial Intelligence, some
• 3:18
Speaker 6: folks in Washington called and said, we think that you
• 3:21
Speaker 6: would be the perfect person to lead these So I am.
• 3:25
Speaker 6: It's just a real short term thing. It's through December,
• 3:27
Speaker 6: and then we should have a plan in place, and
• 3:29
Speaker 6: then I can hand the plan off to folks who
• 3:31
Speaker 6: work their full time.
• 3:32
Speaker 3: And it's a good resentation, you know, good representation of
• 3:34
Speaker 3: West Virginia and Bridge Valley. For you to be there,
• 3:36
  Speaker 3: I would think.
• 3:37
Speaker 6: It's really great both for the state and certainly for
• 3:40
Speaker 6: the college. Already, it's helped me really think about some
• 3:44
Speaker 6: of our federal grants and how we're making investments and
• 3:46
Speaker 6: students in the community, and I think it'll really set
• 3:49
Speaker 6: us up for some long term success.
• 3:51
Speaker 3: Well, we wish, certainly. I wish you the best of
• 3:53
Speaker 3: luck with that. What exactly are you going to be doing?
• 3:55
Speaker 3: Can you kind of break it down then we'll move
• 3:56
Speaker 3: on talk about things currently at Bridge Valley?
• 3:58
  Speaker 8: You bet. So.
• 3:59
Speaker 6: Executive orders lay out the President asks for secretaries of
• 4:03
Speaker 6: different agencies to develop plans around certain things so around
• 4:08
Speaker 6: artificial intelligence, for example, there's ninety day deadlines, there's one
• 4:12
Speaker 6: hundred and twenty day deadlines, and it's helping the agencies
• 4:15
Speaker 6: hit those deadlines because they're inner agency collaborations. And so
• 4:19
Speaker 6: when you have the Department of Commerce and Labor and
• 4:22
Speaker 6: Energy and Education all in one room, you need a
• 4:25
Speaker 6: unified document and there's not one clear person to write that.
• 4:28
Speaker 6: And so for these projects, I'm one person.
• 4:32
Speaker 3: All right, Well, they couldn't have picked a better one
• 4:34
Speaker 3: person to do the job. In my opinione, A few
• 4:37
Speaker 3: and I think you'll represent Bridge Valley and West Virginia
• 4:40
Speaker 3: very very well. All right, So you folks had to
• 4:42
Speaker 3: open a house the other night, I understand. How'd that go?
• 4:45
  Speaker 2: Oh?
• 4:45
  Speaker 5: We did.
• 4:45
Speaker 6: There's so much fun. It's just really great to get
• 4:48
Speaker 6: potential students in and often their parents and families to
• 4:52
Speaker 6: hear about what we offer here at the college. So
• 4:54
Speaker 6: the other night it was actually an open house for
• 4:57
Speaker 6: the Win Academy, which is the early college high school
• 4:59
Speaker 6: that we have on campus, and had a really great
• 5:02
Speaker 6: turnout of families to talk about if this might be
• 5:05
Speaker 6: a good fit for their kids. And often it's a
• 5:07
Speaker 6: good fit for kids who sort of know the area
• 5:10
Speaker 6: that they want to go into. They sort of know
• 5:12
Speaker 6: their path, and we have really strong paths in both
• 5:15
Speaker 6: healthcare and engineering, and so a lot of times that's
• 5:19
  Speaker 6: who comes.
• 5:20
Speaker 3: Yeah, indeed, and that Win Academy. I mean again, we
• 5:23
Speaker 3: are on here with me a couple times a month.
• 5:25
Speaker 3: But for people that don't know, explain how the Wind
• 5:27
  Speaker 3: Academy works.
• 5:28
Speaker 6: So it's an early college high school, which means that
• 5:31
Speaker 6: you do both high school classes and college classes concurrently.
• 5:35
Speaker 6: It's the instead of saying take twelfth grade English, we
• 5:39
Speaker 6: put you in a college level English class, for example,
• 5:42
Speaker 6: and then it counts as your twelfth grade English. And
• 5:45
Speaker 6: the real beauty of that is that for students who
• 5:48
Speaker 6: are on sort of on a fast track at that point,
• 5:51
Speaker 6: we're trying really hard to help more and more students
• 5:53
Speaker 6: graduate from high school with their associate's degree so that
• 5:56
Speaker 6: if they want to immediately and they're the labor market,
• 5:59
Speaker 6: they can have a credential to employer's value. And if
• 6:02
Speaker 6: what they want to do is take that and transfer
• 6:04
Speaker 6: to Marshall University, they can do that too.
• 6:07
Speaker 3: Talk to you with doctor Casey Sachs Abridge Value the
• 6:09
Speaker 3: Dave Valence Show in five eighty five is brought to
• 6:11
Speaker 3: you in part by Morgan and Morgan, with more than
• 6:13
Speaker 3: twenty billion dollars recovered. They believe that when you're injured,
• 6:15
Speaker 3: you deserve more. Morgan and Morgan America's largest injury law firm.
• 6:19
Speaker 3: Now you have something called a simulation room.
• 6:22
Speaker 6: Now right, Oh, Dave, You've got to come see that.
• 6:24
Speaker 6: It's so cool. So the simulation room. In the health sciences,
• 6:30
Speaker 6: students are allowed to do up to half of their
• 6:33
Speaker 6: clinical experiences in a simulated setting. But that only really
• 6:38
Speaker 6: works as authentic learning if we can make the simulation
• 6:41
Speaker 6: very authentic. And so one of the things that we
• 6:45
Speaker 6: have a nurse who had been a thirty year er veteran.
• 6:48
Speaker 6: She's wonderful, Betty Craze. So when Betty's designing simulations for
• 6:52
Speaker 6: our students, she does really elaborate activities an entire week
• 6:58
Speaker 6: of burn victims or something like that. But what she
• 7:01
Speaker 6: said is that the thing that she hasn't been able
• 7:03
Speaker 6: to simulate are things like the smell. And so we
• 7:08
Speaker 6: have a whole room now where we can design thousands
• 7:11
Speaker 6: of different simulations and even pipe in things like smells.
• 7:15
Speaker 6: So as gross as this is, we have a blood
• 7:17
Speaker 6: smell and a vomit smell, and those are things that
• 7:21
Speaker 6: often if you're a first time nurse and you walk
• 7:23
Speaker 6: into a room and there's been a burn victim, that
• 7:26
Speaker 6: burning flesh smell is something that people really struggle with,
• 7:29
Speaker 6: and now we can simulate it for them so that
• 7:31
Speaker 6: the first time they're with a real patient in that setting,
• 7:34
Speaker 6: it's less of a jarring experience.
• 7:36
Speaker 3: I mean, I guess I understand that, doctor Sachs, because
• 7:38
Speaker 3: I've known stories of people that were all about helping people.
• 7:42
Speaker 3: They wanted to be a nurse, they wanted to be
• 7:43
Speaker 3: an EMT or something like that, but then when they
• 7:46
Speaker 3: first got there and they sensed, you know, the blood
• 7:50
Speaker 3: and they sense the smell of things like that, I
• 7:52
Speaker 3: know I would have a very very difficult time with that.
• 7:54
Speaker 3: And it's not you know, it's not to try I
• 7:56
Speaker 3: would think, it's not to try to drive them away,
• 7:59
Speaker 3: but it's also so an opportunity for then to go, well,
• 8:01
Speaker 3: maybe I can't handle this, or I've got to get
• 8:03
Speaker 3: used to this a little bit more and work on
• 8:06
Speaker 3: this ability so I'm in.
• 8:09
Speaker 6: It just helps prepare people, right, yeah, exactly. Percent don't
• 8:12
Speaker 6: want to turn them away. What we want is for
• 8:14
Speaker 6: them to go into the workforce and feel like, yes,
• 8:17
Speaker 6: I know what to expect and I'm ready to deal
• 8:19
  Speaker 6: with it.
• 8:19
Speaker 3: Right, And that's very important. That's kind of what I
• 8:21
Speaker 3: was getting at there. You got some upcoming camps going
• 8:23
  Speaker 3: on there.
• 8:24
Speaker 6: Oh gosh, they're so fun. If your kids don't already
• 8:27
Speaker 6: have something to do. From July twenty first to July
• 8:30
Speaker 6: twenty fifth, we have a STEM camp. It's for fifth
• 8:34
Speaker 6: graders through eighth graders. It's really fun. I sent my
• 8:36
Speaker 6: goddaughter last summer. I brought her out from New Jersey
• 8:39
Speaker 6: and it's like you're going to camp, and she loved it.
• 8:42
Speaker 6: They work with robots, they do different kinds of just
• 8:46
Speaker 6: they just play all week. It's really great, and our
• 8:49
Speaker 6: faculty members who put it on are especially enthusiastic.
• 8:52
Speaker 3: Well, and they play, but they're also learning something as well,
• 8:55
  Speaker 3: so that's right.
• 8:56
Speaker 6: I mean. The whole point is that it's built around
• 8:58
Speaker 6: a science heavy curriculm, so that students walk away and
• 9:01
Speaker 6: sort of know more about robotics and know more about
• 9:04
Speaker 6: manufacturing and might even have a sense that this is
• 9:07
Speaker 6: something they want to do in their careers. So we're
• 9:09
Speaker 6: thinking about early exposure and we're trying to be intentional,
• 9:12
Speaker 6: but we also want to make sure that it's fun
• 9:14
Speaker 6: because it is for kids.
• 9:15
Speaker 3: Yeah, indeed, doctor Casey Sacks. Before we let you go,
• 9:18
Speaker 3: we can talk about this as we get a little
• 9:19
Speaker 3: bit closer, but you guys are going to be hosting

Speaker 6: We've been doing it for years. We always try and

Speaker 6: host one of the Live on the Levee nights, and
• 9:31
Speaker 6: I'll certainly keep talking about it, but please come out

Speaker 3: It's going to be a great night, it always is.
• 9:37
Speaker 3: Live on the Levee is actually back because you know,
• 9:40
Speaker 3: the kind of a different schedule this year. Lives would
• 9:42
Speaker 3: be back tomorrow, but you guys will be there on

Speaker 3: great event. Also a great event. It's going to be
• 14:05
Speaker 3: going on in Saint Albans. Of course got Tour de Cole,
• 14:08
Speaker 3: but you also got Yakfest going on. Adam Bryant is
• 14:11
Speaker 3: with us right now. Good morning, Sarah, welcome to the show.
• 14:13
Speaker 4: Good morning, thanks for having me.

• 14:17
Speaker 3: wild and wonderful classic rock, will also be a big
• 14:19
Speaker 3: part of that. And because he comes in the studio
• 14:22
Speaker 3: anytime I have guests, because he thinks there's going to
• 14:24
Speaker 3: be food in here. Steve, Anamal and Shockley, Yeah, sir,
• 14:27
Speaker 3: here this is as well. It's a party, all right,
• 14:32
Speaker 3: Mike's off, Okay, all right, Adam, talk about tell what's
• 14:37
Speaker 3: going on and we'll break it down specifically, give us
• 14:38
  Speaker 3: the overall.
• 14:39
Speaker 7: Sure, We've got a lot of great stuff going on
• 14:41
Speaker 7: this weekend. Yackfest starts tomorrow Friday at four o'clock four Friday.
• 14:46
Speaker 7: Friday Friday, we've got bands starting. Live music starts at
• 14:50
Speaker 7: four o'clock tomorrow and then at two o'clock on Saturday.
• 14:54
Speaker 4: We're gonna have live music all day.
• 14:56
Speaker 7: We're gonna have all kinds of great food, great vendors,
• 14:59
Speaker 7: a kid a, it's just going to be a great time,
• 15:01
Speaker 7: a big party in St Albans, and we throw a
• 15:04
Speaker 7: big one every year.
• 15:05
Speaker 3: And everything's on old name Yep, everything's on old Well
• 15:07
  Speaker 3: in B Street.
• 15:07
  Speaker 4: We're getting a little bigger.
• 15:08
Speaker 7: We were bleeding on too B Street this year, so
• 15:10
  Speaker 7: we're actually it's not a straight line, it's it's an
• 15:12
  Speaker 7: l this year.
• 15:13
Speaker 3: All right, Yeah, all right, And you guys are going
• 15:15
Speaker 3: to be a part of it as well. Animal and Shockley.
• 15:17
Speaker 13: Yes, we have the official party band of ninety eight
• 15:20
Speaker 13: to seven, Mountain Hair Supply playing Friday night. And there's
• 15:23
Speaker 13: a Fleetwood mac opener.
• 15:25
Speaker 7: Yeah, Fleetwood's Heart is opening four Hair Supply. They're a
• 15:29
Speaker 7: newer band to the area, but all of the people
• 15:32
Speaker 7: in that band are going to recognize from other bands
• 15:34
Speaker 7: that you've seen once or twice.
• 15:35
Speaker 13: And then Saturday, Saturday Saturday, we have the z Top
• 15:39
Speaker 13: Notch it's a tribute band is easy Top, and the
• 15:42
  Speaker 13: Groove Brothers.
• 15:43
Speaker 7: Yeah, which is an Almond Brothers tribute band. Yes, we're
• 15:45
Speaker 7: trying to this year try to sort of take you
• 15:47
Speaker 7: on a musical journey through the decades if you will.
• 15:50
Speaker 3: Of course I love rock. Yeah, Adam give us the
• 15:53
Speaker 3: background on this whole thing about how it got started.
• 15:56
Speaker 7: So the Yackfest is really all centered around the Torticle,
• 15:59
Speaker 7: which is is a great event that the Coal River
• 16:02
Speaker 7: Group puts on every year. I don't know how many
• 16:04
Speaker 7: years they've been doing it, but for a long long time.
• 16:06
Speaker 7: I think nineteen now, that's what I was gonna say.
• 16:08
Speaker 7: I think it's getting close to twenty. But the Tour
• 16:11
Speaker 7: de Cole is the largest flatwater kayaking event in the
• 16:15
Speaker 7: nation now and we're gonna have They are gonna have
• 16:17
Speaker 7: probably close to two thousand kayaks on the river on Saturday,
• 16:20
Speaker 7: and it's a great event for Saint Albans. All these
• 16:22
Speaker 7: people from all over the country coming into town, and
• 16:24
Speaker 7: we figured, uh, we should throw a party for them
• 16:27
  Speaker 7: while they're there.
• 16:27
Speaker 4: You didn't make it even better.
• 16:28
Speaker 3: Just a small little gathering. It is a small little
• 16:31
Speaker 3: of a couple thousand of yeah, of your best friends,
• 16:33
Speaker 3: and I think that is amazing. And hands off to
• 16:35
Speaker 3: Bill and those folks that do the tour to Cole
• 16:38
Speaker 3: and all the others that are involved in it as well,
• 16:41
Speaker 3: because every year it just gets bigger. I know it's
• 16:44
Speaker 3: a cliche to say bigger and better, but I mean
• 16:45
Speaker 3: we're talking about bringing two thousand people. Some are in
• 16:48
Speaker 3: this area, but Adam, you know you're a Saint Alban's guy,
• 16:50
Speaker 3: a lot of them aren't from this area. They're not
• 16:52
Speaker 3: even from this state. Yeah, absolutely not.
• 16:54
Speaker 7: I forget what the number was exactly, but I want
• 16:57
Speaker 7: to say it was like fifteen to twenty different states.
• 16:59
Speaker 4: We're represented. Last year.
• 17:00
Speaker 7: There's people coming from all over the country. They've had
• 17:02
Speaker 7: people come from outside of this country to do the.
• 17:04
Speaker 13: Tour around the world and nationwide. That's a convergence of
• 17:07
Speaker 13: kayakers and people ready to party Friday and Saturday night.
• 17:11
Speaker 3: Shut up, steep So, but I will say this, I
• 17:15
Speaker 3: mean the growth of this thing over the years. I
• 17:20
Speaker 3: mean not just this particular event, but this whole I mean,
• 17:23
Speaker 3: the River's always been there. You know, it's always been there,
• 17:26
Speaker 3: but it's like some at some point and people have
• 17:28
Speaker 3: always taken advantage of them. But years ago somebody said,
• 17:31
Speaker 3: number one is clean this thing up, which you've done
• 17:33
Speaker 3: a fantastic job on that. But number two, let's open
• 17:36
Speaker 3: it up for people to come in. And I talk
• 17:38
Speaker 3: about this all the time about how sometimes we as well,
• 17:41
Speaker 3: and I guess people that live in other areas do
• 17:43
Speaker 3: this to you kind of take your home area for granted.
• 17:45
Speaker 3: You just think, oh, that's a river, it's always been there.
• 17:47
Speaker 3: But there are people coming in for this thing all
• 17:50
Speaker 3: over the country, Adam, that don't necessarily have this or
• 17:53
Speaker 3: they don't have one particularly like this because they for
• 17:57
Speaker 3: the people that are into this stuff, and we've talked
• 17:58
Speaker 3: to them on the air in the past, they love
• 18:01
Speaker 3: the Coal River. I mean they they love And I'm
• 18:04
Speaker 3: not into it myself as far as why they love it,
• 18:06
Speaker 3: but you probably are. I mean, what is it about
• 18:09
Speaker 3: the so appealing to them?
• 18:10
  Speaker 7: It's I when I moved h Saint Albans, that was
• 18:14
Speaker 7: one of the first things that everybody told me about
• 18:16
Speaker 7: in town is the Coal River and you got to
• 18:17
Speaker 7: go kayaking and how great it is. Uh, and it's fantastic.
• 18:20
  Speaker 7: It's a it's a peaceful, serene river. It doesn't move fast.
• 18:24
Speaker 7: It's a great time to just like to float, float,
• 18:27
Speaker 7: just float. Uh, if you don't paddle the torticle is
• 18:30
Speaker 7: a long day because the river moves pretty slow. You know,
• 18:33
  Speaker 7: it's a it's a very laxadaisical, enjoyable afternoon. And the
• 18:37
Speaker 7: Tourticle they got it right. They didn't make it a
• 18:40
Speaker 7: race or something else like that. They focused on just
• 18:44
Speaker 7: just community float, have a good time, enjoy yourself and
• 18:47
Speaker 7: it's a party on the river, party on the street
• 18:49
  Speaker 7: with the access.
• 18:50
Speaker 3: And again it seems that what I when I understand
• 18:53
Speaker 3: in the past and talk to Bill Curry and those folks,
• 18:54
Speaker 3: is that what they do is there's people set up
• 18:56
Speaker 3: all along the sides of the river doing stuff.
• 18:58
Speaker 4: Talk about that. Yeah, yeah, I saw the other day.
• 19:00
Speaker 7: I think one of the local baseball teams or something
• 19:03
Speaker 7: like that is is selling pepperoni rolls from one of
• 19:05
Speaker 7: the docks along the river. And you know, it's the people.
• 19:08
Speaker 7: The thing that I was most amazed the first time.
• 19:10
Speaker 7: I don't get to do the Torticole anymore because I'm
• 19:12
Speaker 7: working yack Fest, which is the downfall of yax Fest
• 19:15
Speaker 7: for me personally, but it's it's worth it. But the
• 19:17
Speaker 7: first thing I noticed I was super just how cool
• 19:20
Speaker 7: is this is? There people just standing in their backyards.
• 19:23
Speaker 7: You need a water, well for you water, You need
• 19:25
Speaker 7: a beer, here's a beer. You know, like it was
• 19:27
Speaker 7: just such a great community event, you know, just people
• 19:31
Speaker 7: lying on the river, just just waving, having a good time,
• 19:33
  Speaker 7: saying Hi.
• 19:34
Speaker 3: It's a nine twenty six with Dave Island showing five Anieline.
• 19:37
Speaker 3: Brought to you in part by your hometown baseball team,
• 19:38
Speaker 3: the Charleston Dirty Birds. It's Pride Night tonight at Golmart Ballpark.
• 19:42
Speaker 3: Special Pride Night shirts courtesy of Element Federal Credit Union.
• 19:45
Speaker 3: For tickets, schedules, promotions, merchandise had more, visit dirtybirds baseball
• 19:49
Speaker 3: dot com. Now let's get back to a Yakfest for
• 19:51
Speaker 3: a moment. Things kicking off there tomorrow night, right, yep?
• 19:53
Speaker 4: Yep? Tomorrow at four o'clock is when we start.
• 19:55
  Speaker 14: Yep.
• 19:56
Speaker 3: So where do you park people that come in for this?
• 19:58
Speaker 4: Wherever? So wherever you can find a spot.
• 20:00
Speaker 7: Yes, we actually made a post on our Facebook page,
• 20:03
  Speaker 7: I believe yesterday of a lot of the there's a
• 20:06
Speaker 7: lot of churches in the immediate area around Main Street
• 20:09
Speaker 7: that have opened up their parking lots for people to
• 20:12
Speaker 7: park at, and we made a post about that on
• 20:13
Speaker 7: our Facebook page. If you're looking for parking, there's at
• 20:16
Speaker 7: least three or four churches within a block or two
• 20:18
Speaker 7: of Main Street that are opening up their their their
• 20:21
Speaker 7: parking lots for parking.
• 20:22
Speaker 4: And anywhere you can find on one of those side
• 20:24
Speaker 4: streets is good too.
• 20:26
Speaker 13: It will be a good time for sure. A lot
• 20:29
Speaker 13: of great music, food, a ton of food vendors chuckers
• 20:32
Speaker 13: off the hook on the street. And I know we've
• 20:34
Speaker 13: got Icy Lady. I can't thank of it. I see
• 20:40
  Speaker 13: that Icy Lady.
• 20:46
Speaker 4: We knew what he was saying. There's there's too many
• 20:49
Speaker 4: food vendors to mention really that.
• 20:51
Speaker 7: I was really surprised this year we got a lot
• 20:54
Speaker 7: more food vendors registered, and that it's a very wide
• 20:57
  Speaker 7: variety of food.
• 20:59
Speaker 4: It's not just one, it's not just barbecue.
• 21:01
Speaker 7: There's gonna be a little bit of everything, and and
• 21:04
Speaker 7: it's just going to be I think we have one
• 21:05
Speaker 7: whole side of the street I.
• 21:06
Speaker 4: Think is almost all food all the way down.
• 21:08
Speaker 3: Manager text here somebody said about the tour to Coal
• 21:11
Speaker 3: that there's some things floating around there that this may
• 21:14
Speaker 3: be the last year. Is that that's not.
• 21:15
Speaker 4: Not But I have not heard anything about that whatsoever.
• 21:18
Speaker 7: I don't foresee the tour to Cole ending anytime in
• 21:21
Speaker 7: the near future. From what I know, I know that's
• 21:24
Speaker 7: one of the biggest fundraisers they do, yeah of the
• 21:26
Speaker 7: year for the Coal River Group.
• 21:27
Speaker 4: That really keeps them going.
• 21:28
Speaker 3: All right, I don't know why you would as far
• 21:30
Speaker 3: as vendors go. Could can vendor still sign up? Or
• 21:33
Speaker 3: is it way too late for that?
• 21:34
Speaker 4: Yeah? Way too late.
• 21:34
Speaker 7: We're full. We we filled up probably a couple of
• 21:37
Speaker 7: weeks ago, and then we had a waiting list for
• 21:38
Speaker 7: some people that that signed up and if somebody didn't
• 21:42
Speaker 7: pay her, if somebody fell through, we'd get them in.
• 21:44
Speaker 7: But they're still a waiting list of ten or fifteen.
• 21:46
Speaker 7: If somebody drops through tonight, we'll fill it up already.
• 21:49
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 21:49
Speaker 13: So Twana's Kitchen is on there, Shirkers off the Hook,
• 21:53
Speaker 13: Samurai Hibachi is going to be their sugar Pop, Candy,
• 21:58
Speaker 13: Beg Street, Tacos here, and Ipity Charleston p D. They've
• 22:01
Speaker 13: got a food booth to the Lucky lemon. Maybe that
• 22:05
Speaker 13: was what I was thinking. And Sherry's Concessions all sorts
• 22:09
Speaker 13: of good stuff out there.
• 22:10
Speaker 3: And I'm glad to see our guy at Chuck, our
• 22:13
Speaker 3: guy guy at Schucker's getting involved in this as well,
• 22:18
Speaker 3: because he's got a killer food truck out there.
• 22:19
Speaker 13: Now, does Steve as you know, well, yes, so feed
• 22:22
Speaker 13: and water us guy, would you yes please?
• 22:24
Speaker 3: And one of the things I like about this with
• 22:27
Speaker 3: Saint Albans and this happens in other communities, but sometimes
• 22:30
Speaker 3: it doesn't happen that way. And that's that the businesses
• 22:33
Speaker 3: embrace this because in some towns, and I've been a
• 22:36
Speaker 3: part of some of these things, the businesses are like, yeah,
• 22:38
Speaker 3: we want this thing to be over whatever. That's not
• 22:40
Speaker 3: the way it happens with almost any event. In Saint Albans.
• 22:43
Speaker 3: I've been part of the fall y'all Chili cookoff for years.
• 22:47
Speaker 3: You got this event going on and so many other things.
• 22:49
Speaker 3: I mean, the businesses in Saint Albans really really wrapped
• 22:52
  Speaker 3: themselves around this.
• 22:54
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 22:54
Speaker 7: I think we've really I think initially they were maybe
• 22:57
Speaker 7: a little hesitant, but they saw very quickly that we're
• 23:00
Speaker 7: bringing a lot of people from out of town into
• 23:03
Speaker 7: town on those days, and those people are not just
• 23:07
Speaker 7: spending time and money at our event, they're also venturing
• 23:10
Speaker 7: into these local storefronts on main Street and around the
• 23:13
Speaker 7: area as well, spending their money in Saint Albans. It's
• 23:16
Speaker 7: it's a great economic boost for the community and I
• 23:19
Speaker 7: think the businesses have really realized that.
• 23:21
Speaker 13: And we get some nice donations too for the hospitality
• 23:24
Speaker 13: suite from that face Drummies. We have the tap Shuckers,
• 23:29
Speaker 13: Cole River Coffee, we have Cosmel just around the corner,
• 23:32
Speaker 13: and a little bit of Heaven cutle bit of heaven yepcake.
• 23:35
Speaker 13: So all of them donate to make sure it's a
• 23:37
Speaker 13: fun event for everyone who comes to the town who
• 23:39
Speaker 13: may have not experienced Saint Albans.
• 23:41
Speaker 3: So it's pretty awesome.
• 23:43
  Speaker 4: Yeah, it's fantastic.
• 23:44
Speaker 3: And let's talk about that experience in Saint Albans, because
• 23:46
Speaker 3: I mean, I had the mayor on here frequently, Adam,
• 23:48
Speaker 3: and you and I know Steve is mister Saint Albans.
• 23:51
Speaker 3: He's got He tells me he has a sash, but
• 23:53
  Speaker 3: I don't don't. I don't want to see that. That's
• 23:56
Speaker 3: frequently all he wants to wear a sash, But let's
• 23:59
Speaker 3: talk about what goes on in St Albans on almost
• 24:02
Speaker 3: a weekly or at least every couple of weekly basis.
• 24:07
Speaker 7: There's something going on all the time. Uh in St Albans.
• 24:12
Speaker 7: My main work day, my main day job is the
• 24:15
Speaker 7: albur Arts Center, and we've got an event almost every weekend.
• 24:19
Speaker 7: The music scene is blowing up in Saint Albans. There's
• 24:23
Speaker 7: an open mic or somebody playing music at one of
• 24:26
Speaker 7: the local bars on main Street almost every night, every
• 24:29
Speaker 7: every week this nowadays, which is awesome.
• 24:31
  Speaker 4: Yeah, it's fantastic.
• 24:32
  Speaker 2: Guys.
• 24:32
  Speaker 3: I think we have a somebody with a with a
• 24:34
Speaker 3: call here, can we take a call? Yah? All right,
• 24:37
Speaker 3: your show, all right, it is all right. Mike could
• 24:40
Speaker 3: go ahead. You're on with the with Adam and Shockley
• 24:42
Speaker 3: and Steve. Go ahead.
• 24:44
Speaker 14: Yes, Hello, my name is Mike.
• 24:46
  Speaker 4: Mike.
• 24:47
Speaker 14: I'm sixty nine years old. And about it was back
• 24:52
Speaker 14: in well, probably forty five years ago or so. For
• 24:56
Speaker 14: several years they had what was called the cole rip
• 24:59
Speaker 14: Canoe Maras on which which left out of Peytona and
• 25:04
Speaker 14: went all the way into Saint Albans. And it was
• 25:08
Speaker 14: actually a race and and and they had divisions. I
• 25:14
Speaker 14: understand that that. You know, the access is great, it's cool,
• 25:17
Speaker 14: brings people in. But that race was also very cool.
• 25:21
Speaker 14: I raced a couple of times in it. Uh, of
• 25:24
Speaker 14: course I was a lot younger than it was. It
• 25:29
Speaker 14: was just a lot of fun. You know, racing is
• 25:31
Speaker 14: fun and but but that was there was just canoes
• 25:35
Speaker 14: for the most part. Back then, I was. It was
• 25:37
Speaker 14: just that's all I had to say. Way, we actually camped,
• 25:42
Speaker 14: We actually camped had Peytona excuse me. They have a
• 25:47
Speaker 14: nice beach there and uh we were allowed to camp
• 25:50
Speaker 14: there before and the race left from there. And you
• 25:53
Speaker 14: actually had to portage at the acton off Falls.
• 25:56
  Speaker 4: Sure.
• 25:57
Speaker 14: Uh there in Tornado. You had to take you know,
• 26:02
Speaker 14: get out of the water which your canoe and pourt
• 26:04
Speaker 14: it through the woods a little bit and put it
• 26:06
Speaker 14: back in. It was a great race. They gave out
• 26:08
Speaker 14: trophies with pieces of coal with.
• 26:11
  Speaker 3: A love it.
• 26:14
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 26:15
Speaker 14: My brother in law actually won. I think he won twice.
• 26:19
Speaker 14: And you know it was great, that's all.
• 26:22
Speaker 4: Yeah, that sounds like a lot of fun.
• 26:23
Speaker 3: All right, Mike. We appreciate your phone call man, thanks
• 26:25
Speaker 3: a lot. I mean, there's no nothing that says we
• 26:27
Speaker 3: couldn't possibly do that At some point in the future. Absolutely.
• 26:30
Speaker 4: Yeah, the river's not going anywhere.
• 26:31
Speaker 3: It's been there for a couple of decades, right at least. Yeah,
• 26:34
Speaker 3: all right, give us a rundown again the times and
• 26:37
Speaker 3: the and all all the stuff.
• 26:39
Speaker 7: Friday we start at four o'clock and we go to ten.

  Speaker 3: Dad jokes, everybody.
• 32:20
Speaker 11: I was just thinking, these ladies have a really interesting
• 32:23
Speaker 11: process for maybe winnowing down that pool of fifteen on
• 32:26
Speaker 11: the West Virginia Scholars Okay.
• 32:27
Speaker 3: Maybe we could, maybe we can do it. Dad jokes
• 32:29
Speaker 3: dot a dad jokes. I'm just saying, you just never know,
• 32:32
Speaker 3: all right, So they're doing a battle, if you will
• 32:36
Speaker 3: of the dad jokesters as Rob immediately goes.
• 32:40
Speaker 11: Into eura jet, eura jet. All sorry, I know a
• 32:44
Speaker 11: little more about musical theater than a straight white dude should.
• 32:48
Speaker 3: Rob reel from Assissocation ninety six to one KWS is
• 32:50
Speaker 3: here and you ladies introduce yourselves.
• 32:52
Speaker 8: I am Naomi Bays, the executive director of the West
• 32:54
  Speaker 8: Side Neighborhood Association.
• 32:56
Speaker 18: Hi there, I'm Samantha Niguard, and I also work at
• 32:59
Speaker 18: the West Side Neighborhood.
• 33:00
Speaker 3: All right, before we get into what we're doing with
• 33:02
Speaker 3: this these dad jokes battle, what exactly is the association?
• 33:05
Speaker 3: What do you do?
• 33:06
Speaker 8: So we cover the west side of Charleston and we
• 33:10
Speaker 8: essentially organize cleanups, we plant flowers, we do beautification projects,
• 33:15
Speaker 8: and we just work to bring neighbors together.
• 33:17
Speaker 3: How long has this thing been a thing? How long
• 33:19
Speaker 3: you been doing this?
• 33:20
Speaker 8: So I've been the executive director now for about almost
• 33:22
Speaker 8: two years. The association itself has been around since nineteen
• 33:25
  Speaker 8: ninety six.
• 33:26
Speaker 3: West has Samantha, Hey, what's your involvement? Here, Samantha.
• 33:32
Speaker 18: So I helped facilitate the cleanups for the West Side,
• 33:36
Speaker 18: so and also facilitating our Love Your Block program to
• 33:39
Speaker 18: make sure that our neighbors on the West Side have
• 33:42
Speaker 18: the materials they need to make their blocks beautiful.
• 33:46
Speaker 3: All right, So what we're doing here, there's going to
• 33:48
Speaker 3: be this dad joke competition, and like, you could not
• 33:51
Speaker 3: have gotten anybody better to do this. Well they tried,
• 33:55
Speaker 3: but yeah, they tried to get somebody better.
• 33:57
Speaker 18: It's the best we could get.
• 33:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, well the best get for the money, right, Bob.
• 34:02
Speaker 3: What is it that you think makes dad jokes uh
• 34:05
Speaker 3: so so popular always?
• 34:08
Speaker 11: I think it is the combination of quick wittedness.
• 34:12
  Speaker 3: I think it's the.
• 34:13
Speaker 11: Accessibility of you know, making fun of everyday situations. And
• 34:18
Speaker 11: I do think there is a tinge of nostalgia to it,
• 34:21
Speaker 11: you know, Grandad I always said, boy, nostalgia ain't what
• 34:24
Speaker 11: it used to be, but the the simple jokes from
• 34:27
Speaker 11: a simpler time when you know your dad has got
• 34:29
Speaker 11: on the you know, the socks with the sandals and
• 34:32
  Speaker 11: the the.
• 34:34
Speaker 3: Green semi clear translucent was the word.
• 34:36
Speaker 11: I wanted, the green translucent visor out in the sun
• 34:41
Speaker 11: and his metal detector and by painting a pin.
• 34:45
Speaker 18: You're taking me back in time.
• 34:48
Speaker 3: Uh, but yeah, I think there's something to be said
• 34:51
Speaker 3: for that. And look, I you know, people that know
• 34:53
Speaker 3: me know, and Rob you may find this shocking. I
• 34:55
Speaker 3: like a I like blue Humor every now and then.
• 34:57
Speaker 3: I know you'll find that very shocking.
• 34:59
  Speaker 4: Okay.
• 34:59
Speaker 3: No, However, however, there is something to be said. There's
• 35:03
Speaker 3: a reason why Andy Afpoth is still on the air
• 35:05
Speaker 3: and why it's still popular because people still love, as
• 35:09
Speaker 3: you said, simple clean humor.
• 35:12
Speaker 11: I am acquainted with a stand up by the name
• 35:15
Speaker 11: of Greg Warren, whom you may have heard. Greg has
• 35:18
Speaker 11: a new special coincidentally, and one of the things I
• 35:20
Speaker 11: said to Greg recently, I said, you are inconspicuously clean.
• 35:24
Speaker 11: And by that I mean he doesn't try to. I'm
• 35:27
Speaker 11: only gonna work clean. He's just he's not a guy
• 35:30
Speaker 11: who curses a lot. He's not a guy who gets
• 35:32
Speaker 11: into those sorts of subjects, and so he just he
• 35:35
Speaker 11: ends up by default being a family friendly guy, even
• 35:38
Speaker 11: though he doesn't set out that way. We're kind of
• 35:40
Speaker 11: gonna be that way on Saturday Night. The goal is
• 35:45
Speaker 11: to be family friendly. The goal is to think Rocky
• 35:47
Speaker 11: and Bullwinkle think SpongeBob SquarePants, think those kinds of shows
• 35:51
Speaker 11: where there might be two levels of humor, stuff that
• 35:54
Speaker 11: the adults can definitely laugh at that the.
• 35:56
  Speaker 3: Kids don't get.
• 35:56
Speaker 11: But this is a kid friendly room at the old
• 36:00
Speaker 11: Capital Theater on Summer Street one two three Summer Street.
• 36:02
Speaker 3: It's now Resurrection Church.
• 36:04
Speaker 11: That kind of feeds into the whole family friendly vibe
• 36:07
Speaker 11: and we're gonna have ourselves a good time.
• 36:09
Speaker 3: And look, I'll say it right now, one of the
• 36:10
Speaker 3: funnies comedians live to me is Jim Gaffigan. And I
• 36:13
Speaker 3: don't know if Jim Gaffigan has ever uttered a profane
• 36:16
Speaker 3: word on stage at all, and he's woned only during
• 36:20
Speaker 3: Purdue games. Yeah, but you talk about dad jokes, I mean,
• 36:24
Speaker 3: this is a quinn essential dad. I mean, I think
• 36:26
Speaker 3: Gaffickan's got like five kids or something like that, and
• 36:28
Speaker 3: he does, and it's fantastic. So how did you get
• 36:32
Speaker 3: the idea to come up with a competition.
• 36:35
Speaker 8: I had this idea kicking around in my head for
• 36:37
Speaker 8: many years when I owned Oddbird Gifts downtown, so that
• 36:41
Speaker 8: was like weird, quirky gift shop, and I just had
• 36:43
Speaker 8: this idea floating around my head and it just never
• 36:47
Speaker 8: quite was the right time. Found myself in this new position,
• 36:51
Speaker 8: and I was like, you know what, we're not there's
• 36:53
Speaker 8: nothing like this in this area state. We can't find
• 36:57
Speaker 8: anybody else has ever done a dad joke comedy battle, good.
• 37:00
Speaker 18: Not even all over the country. This is the only
• 37:03
Speaker 18: dad joke comedy battle really only.
• 37:05
Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, so how did you go about getting people
• 37:07
Speaker 3: to sign up? And is it too late? If somebody
• 37:09
  Speaker 3: wants to.
• 37:09
Speaker 8: Sign up, you can be on a stand by list,
• 37:13
Speaker 8: but you better have you know, some dad jokes that
• 37:16
Speaker 8: you can roll out real quick because we have a
• 37:19
Speaker 8: stand by list. But yeah, we've got most of our
• 37:20
Speaker 8: contestants ready to go. We're all good to go for that.
• 37:24
Speaker 3: How many contestants do you have? Approximately?
• 37:25
  Speaker 8: Well?
• 37:26
  Speaker 4: Ten?
• 37:26
Speaker 8: Okay, Yeah, so we'll you know, narrow it down.
• 37:28
Speaker 3: And you've got people want to see the names you've
• 37:30
Speaker 3: actually got them. I was looking at your social media
• 37:33
Speaker 3: pages early. You've got some there's a couple of guys
• 37:35
Speaker 3: on there that I definitely know.
• 37:36
Speaker 8: Yeah, we're rolling them out. We've got a whole media
• 37:39
Speaker 8: thing that we're doing, you know, as they get us
• 37:40
Speaker 8: served bios and pictures in and we've told them if
• 37:42
Speaker 8: you don't get it in by us, we're gonna start
• 37:44
Speaker 8: making up stuff about.
• 37:45
Speaker 3: You well and we don't. You don't want Rob to
• 37:46
Speaker 3: do that. I can tell you that no, I wouldn't
• 37:49
Speaker 3: dream of doing that. As somebody has had stuff made
• 37:51
Speaker 3: up about them by Rob. We definitely don't want that.
• 37:56
Speaker 3: So how does a format work?
• 37:58
Speaker 8: So I'll say I'm explaining the format on that one.
• 38:00
Speaker 18: Yeah, We'll have three rounds of dad joke competition and
• 38:05
Speaker 18: it will be juried. We'll have three judges in addition
• 38:08
Speaker 18: to our lovely mc so. So each round the the
• 38:12
Speaker 18: dads will present their dad jokes, with the final round
• 38:15
Speaker 18: being a face to face dad joke off between the
• 38:19
Speaker 18: last two contestants who make it that far. And it
• 38:22
Speaker 18: will actually have a little twist, actually a splash, because
• 38:26
Speaker 18: there will be a spit take, so people in the
• 38:28
Speaker 18: front rows will get wet.
• 38:30
Speaker 8: Oh well really yeah, not like quite Gallagher style, Like
• 38:34
Speaker 8: you don't need to bring like.
• 38:35
Speaker 3: An We'll keep them. We couldn't we couldn't get the
• 38:39
Speaker 3: rights on Sledge of Mattic. Keep in mind that this
• 38:42
Speaker 3: is actually being held in a church, Okay, I mean
• 38:44
  Speaker 3: it's a theater that now a church.
• 38:46
Speaker 8: Meets there, but so they keep totally on board with all. Yes,
• 38:49
Speaker 8: they love every part of this and did not.
• 38:51
Speaker 3: See that you. In addition to the competitors, you have
• 38:54
Speaker 3: another person coming in as well, right talking about that,
• 38:57
  Speaker 3: another comedian.
• 38:58
Speaker 18: Oh yes, Angie Davis from Honey will be our headlining comedian,
• 39:02
Speaker 18: So she'll be performing while the judges deliberate to determine
• 39:06
Speaker 18: the top two contestant.
• 39:07
Speaker 3: I love it. I love it because sometimes when when
• 39:10
Speaker 3: the deliberations started, it could be you could take a
• 39:12
  Speaker 3: little while.
• 39:13
Speaker 11: And there there are ways for everyone in the crowd
• 39:17
Speaker 11: to kind of be involved with this. Of course, you
• 39:19
Speaker 11: know you're gonna yell and scream and cheer and throw babies,
• 39:21
Speaker 11: as my college band.
• 39:22
Speaker 3: Director would say, but kind of frowned upon them generally.
• 39:27
Speaker 11: But there are there are, of course, prizes and and
• 39:32
Speaker 11: shenanigans like that. But Samantha has a particular ting to
• 39:38
  Speaker 11: get people involved.
• 39:40
Speaker 18: A little tingling. We have you. You know we're traditional
• 39:45
Speaker 18: applause clap, clap, clap, but you want a little bit more, something,
• 39:49
Speaker 18: a little extra, especially for a dad joke competition. So
• 39:52
Speaker 18: on theme with our grill master fathers in our lives,
• 39:55
Speaker 18: we will have tongs available for people to tongue along
• 39:59
  Speaker 18: as they off.
• 40:00
  Speaker 8: With the jokes.
• 40:01
Speaker 3: I mean, what happens every time you grab a pair
• 40:03
Speaker 3: of tong It just definitely that's exactly what I was
• 40:06
Speaker 3: going to say, you got it. You gotta make sure.
• 40:09
Speaker 3: And I don't think in the history of tongs as
• 40:11
Speaker 3: anybody ever picked up a pair that didn't work. I don't.
• 40:14

• 40:22
Speaker 3: Can I get in for next?
• 40:22
  Speaker 8: On?
• 40:23
Speaker 9: What do you do?
• 40:23
Speaker 3: What are you doing Saturday? Yeah, that's about as good

Speaker 3: as it would give a dight villance show? And five

Speaker 3: As you know obviously you're a funny guy, but I mean,
• 40:48
Speaker 3: well it looks aren't everything? Yeah.
• 40:50
Speaker 11: The I describe myself in these situations as the dance
• 40:54
Speaker 11: and chicken. You just put me on the stove and
• 40:56
Speaker 11: turn on the heat and I do what we need
• 40:59
Speaker 11: to do. I will be both stirring the pot and
• 41:04
Speaker 11: steering things in the right direction. The first round is
• 41:08
Speaker 11: going to be ten competitors with only a minute each
• 41:11
Speaker 11: to do their three best dad jokes. So that's I mean,
• 41:13
Speaker 11: that's rapid fire. That's move them through. And then we
• 41:16
Speaker 11: get into the second round, where there's a little more time.
• 41:19
Speaker 11: And by the time we get to the face off,
• 41:22
Speaker 11: the spit take face off, I may be right in
• 41:25
Speaker 11: the middle of this. I may need to go with
• 41:26
Speaker 11: the glasses instead of the contacts, just because you know,
• 41:29
Speaker 11: I'll be right in the middle of the splash zone,
• 41:31
Speaker 11: I think when it comes to this, but just to
• 41:33
Speaker 11: just to keep it on track, keep it fun, keep
• 41:36
Speaker 11: it clean. I may have to call some penalties on
• 41:40
Speaker 11: some folks. In addition to you know, mister Carlin's seven
• 41:43
Speaker 11: words that you know we'll be watching for. The rule
• 41:47
Speaker 11: when I worked at a network that's now on one
• 41:50
Speaker 11: of our sister stations was if it's in the Bible,
• 41:52
Speaker 11: you can say the word.
• 41:53
Speaker 3: And since we'll be in a church. We'll be fine, but.
• 41:55
Speaker 11: There might be a there might be a word or
• 41:57
Speaker 11: two that could slip out, and we'll throw the penalty flag.
• 42:01
Speaker 3: Will also keep in mind that when you throw the flag,
• 42:05
Speaker 3: will you say personal foul?
• 42:07
Speaker 11: And now, yes, I like it fifteen yards of course,
• 42:13
Speaker 11: that would move them all the way out of the
• 42:14
Speaker 11: theater now that I think about it, or theater as
• 42:16
  Speaker 11: we say here.
• 42:17
  Speaker 3: In West Virginia.
• 42:18
Speaker 11: And there will also be some topics that might be
• 42:23
Speaker 11: okay at the backyard barbecue that aren't necessarily for all
• 42:28
Speaker 11: ages and all audiences, so we.
• 42:30
Speaker 3: May have to call a penalty or two on that.
• 42:32
Speaker 11: I don't have the big guns that Ed hockey Lely
• 42:34
Speaker 11: from the NFL has lots of lady football fans know
• 42:38
Speaker 11: what I'm talking about with that. But we'll just try
• 42:41
Speaker 11: to keep the thing on the track, keep it on
• 42:42
  Speaker 11: the rails, got.
• 42:43
Speaker 3: A texture, says dear Dave. When you think about it,
• 42:45
Speaker 3: dad jokes were the first memes, the quick one liners.
• 42:48
Speaker 3: We dads were ahead of our time, says a Texter. Yes, absolutely,
• 42:54
Speaker 3: I know. My dad was. I mean my late father,
• 42:56
Speaker 3: God rest his soul. He was a very religious man
• 42:59
Speaker 3: as well, so he was limited into what he could
• 43:01
Speaker 3: what he could say. The closest that he ever got
• 43:04
Speaker 3: to saying anything that was graphic from my dad would
• 43:07
Speaker 3: have been if he heard me singing, which I cannot
• 43:10
Speaker 3: do at all. He would hear me singing doing something.
• 43:13
Speaker 3: He would say that boy sings in the key of L.
• 43:15
Speaker 3: And he would say, well, it sounds like L.
• 43:18
  Speaker 4: Well played, you.
• 43:19
Speaker 3: Just got to play. He's got to say that quickly.
• 43:21
Speaker 3: That's the closest my dad ever got to that.
• 43:23
Speaker 11: Remember, it's make a joyful noise, not necessarily a pleasant one.
• 43:26
Speaker 3: My dad, who was a Sunday school superintendent, also used
• 43:29
Speaker 3: to say, you know, you know what God needs clappers.
• 43:31
  Speaker 4: To or songs.
• 43:33

Speaker 3: Lots to talk about today. Brad mclhanney is going to

• 47:11
Speaker 3: including I think some statements are coming out from Senator
• 47:13
Speaker 3: schlimore Capito today. Also that the State Board of Education
• 47:18
Speaker 3: meeting yesterday. A lot of news came out of that,
• 47:21
Speaker 3: including State school Superintendent Michelle Blatz coming out and we
• 47:26
Speaker 3: played you know, we talked about it on the Midday
• 47:28
Speaker 3: Show yesterday. Basically stand upon the vaccine issue, that what
• 47:33
Speaker 3: we say supersedes or what state losses supersedes the Governor's
• 47:36
Speaker 3: executive order on vaccines. This is going to court. I
• 47:38
Speaker 3: mean you know that, folks. It's absolutely going to court.
• 47:40
Speaker 3: So we will get into that with Brad and some
• 47:43
Speaker 3: other things. Also, the family of Quantes Burks is going

Speaker 3: to be on the show as well, And there is

Speaker 3: a settlement released in the Dunbar police dispute, and we'll

• 48:14
Speaker 3: us for that. I do want to closed with this.
• 48:15
Speaker 3: I appreciate the kind words on the show that we
• 48:18
Speaker 3: did yesterday. Many of us still trying to process the
• 48:21
Speaker 3: death of Doug scaff and that show yesterday had very
• 48:25
Speaker 3: little to do with me. It was just the guest
• 48:28
Speaker 3: reflecting on the life and legacy of Doug Scaff, who
• 48:32
Speaker 3: I'm sure you know my name, was killed in that
• 48:34
Speaker 3: car crash Tuesday on I seventy nine. The thing I
• 48:37
Speaker 3: like most about the show, to be honest with you, yesterday,
• 48:40
Speaker 3: again not a reflection on the host at all, is
• 48:43
Speaker 3: that Republicans and Democrats came together to talk about Doug
• 48:49
Speaker 3: and when I was reaching out to people not one
• 48:53
Speaker 3: person that I talked to said well, I don't want
• 48:56
Speaker 3: to talk with this person, or I don't want to
• 48:59
Speaker 3: talk after that person or before this person. No one cared,
• 49:03
Speaker 3: which I love. I mean, I really really loved that
• 49:06
Speaker 3: first two guests on the show, a Democrat county commissioner
• 49:10
Speaker 3: and the Republican attorney general. Throughout the show, I had
• 49:15
Speaker 3: folks that were Republicans and Democrats, and nobody said a
• 49:18
Speaker 3: word about it, because that's that's it's kind of what
• 49:22
Speaker 3: Doug Scaffe was all about. When scaff was on the
• 49:24
Speaker 3: show two three weeks ago, he even said, look, the
• 49:27
Speaker 3: election is over. It's time for everybody to come together,
• 49:32
Speaker 3: and I and I do appreciate it. And by the way,
• 49:34
Speaker 3: I'm gonna go ahead and throw this out there right
• 49:36
Speaker 3: now to a person by the name of Gregory Allen
• 49:39
Speaker 3: Wingo who felt the need to say on a mutual
• 49:42
Speaker 3: Friends social media page that Doug's legacy was to abandon
• 49:46
Speaker 3: his political party at a critical moment. Screw you, dude,

  Speaker 3: That's what I'm That's what I'm leaving you with. The

  Speaker 3: so that's what I'm now.
• 50:31
  Speaker 4: That's a little bit.
• 50:32
Speaker 3: And your mama is a better person than I am.
• 50:34
Speaker 3: But you know, I have no I have nothing. I
• 50:38
Speaker 3: don't mean that towards you. No, no, no, no no,
• 50:40
Speaker 3: And I would be a better person I am. But
• 50:42
Speaker 3: but if you go on somebody's and I'm not going
• 50:44
Speaker 3: to dwell on this because I'm not going to give
• 50:46
Speaker 3: this idiot any any more press. But when someone passes
