- 0:09Speaker 1: one and only Steve Harvey h got a radio show. Yep. Yeah.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Sometimes all I can say, help, man, how far I've
- 0:22Speaker 2: come is really unbelievable. But you know I finally figured
- 0:25Speaker 2: it out. Man. God allowed me to have the life
- 0:32Speaker 2: I've had so that I can become experienced at so
- 0:36Speaker 2: many different things, and in this experience, when I'm talking
- 0:40Speaker 2: and sharing with people, I will be able to relate
- 0:44Speaker 2: to a lot of different circumstances, not exact, but just
- 0:47Speaker 2: the circumstances.
- 0:48Speaker 1: You know.
- 0:49Speaker 2: You know if a person comes to me and they say, man,
- 0:52Speaker 2: I've been down and out, Okay, well I know what
- 0:54Speaker 2: that is.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Man. I didn't I didn't have any direction. Okay, got
- 0:58Speaker 1: that been there?
- 1:00Speaker 2: Man? At one point in time, Man, I just kept
- 1:02Speaker 2: piwering mistake on top of mistakes.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:07Speaker 2: So you know, I think what I'm trying to say
- 1:11Speaker 2: to everybody is when you're going through life and life
- 1:15Speaker 2: is dealing the cards that it deals, I want you
- 1:19Speaker 2: to understand that life deals everybody these cards, the disappointment card,
- 1:25Speaker 2: the setback card, the failure card, the mishap card, the
- 1:32Speaker 2: unexpected misery card, everybody gonna get, the grief card, everybody
- 1:38Speaker 2: gonna get, the rash of bad decision card, everybody gonna
- 1:42Speaker 2: get them. Understand that going in that everybody is gonna
- 1:48Speaker 2: get these cards.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Is how you play.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Them, though, you know, from time to time, one more time,
- 1:58Speaker 2: it's how you play them, you know.
- 2:00Speaker 1: From time to time.
- 2:01Speaker 2: When I'm watching TV, I love to watch the World
- 2:04Speaker 2: Series of Poker. I like watching poker tournaments on TV
- 2:09Speaker 2: because it's really weird. What's happened to sport? To a
- 2:14Speaker 2: poker they're actually trying to call it a sport, you know.
- 2:18Speaker 2: And as to everyday guid that doesn't have to be
- 2:20Speaker 2: athletically inclined to anything. Who has a shot of winning
- 2:25Speaker 2: a title if they play their cards right. The best
- 2:30Speaker 2: poker players in the world don't have the best hands.
- 2:35Speaker 2: They just make the best plays. I've seen guys win
- 2:40Speaker 2: a hand with nine to two in they hand as
- 2:42Speaker 2: nothing and win their hand because they knew the bluff,
- 2:47Speaker 2: they knew the odds, They calculated risks, they made the
- 2:52Speaker 2: stakes higher than the other.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Person was willing to pay.
- 2:55Speaker 2: They gave off the illusion that they had something with
- 2:59Speaker 2: in actuality, they had nothing. So what I enjoy about
- 3:05Speaker 2: poker and watching it is that these people, these people here,
- 3:11Speaker 2: play the hand they dealt and it ain't always a
- 3:14Speaker 2: good hand. But it ain't whether your hand is good.
- 3:17Speaker 2: And it ain't whether you're gonna get dealt bad cards
- 3:20Speaker 2: or not, because you gonna get dealt some bad cars.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Everybody ain't finna get two bullets in their hand. You
- 3:24Speaker 2: ain't finna get two aces when you get dealt.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Uh.
- 3:27Speaker 2: You know, when you play a draw poker, some of
- 3:29Speaker 2: your cards gonna be nothing, but you gotta turn that
- 3:32Speaker 2: nothing into something. So when you get dealt these cards
- 3:35Speaker 2: in life, it ain't the fact that you getting to
- 3:37Speaker 2: keep getting them dealt. I was talking with a young
- 3:39Speaker 2: person yesterday and we were talking, and we keep having
- 3:43Speaker 2: the same conversation over and over and over, and they
- 3:46Speaker 2: could not understand why they were not moving forward. But
- 3:50Speaker 2: I said, you don't understand. Every time we talk we
- 3:53Speaker 2: have the exact same conversation. It is simply because you
- 3:57Speaker 2: keep getting your cards and you playing them the same way. See,
- 4:02Speaker 2: until you make a conscience, the conscious decision to do
- 4:07Speaker 2: something different, the results will continue to be the same.
- 4:12Speaker 2: See here's here's here's the way this works. When you're
- 4:18Speaker 2: dealt to disappointments in life, it's how you handle the
- 4:22Speaker 2: disappointments that determine their outcome and who you are. Because
- 4:26Speaker 2: everybody gonna be disappointment, Everybody gonna lose a loved one,
- 4:29Speaker 2: Everybody gonna make a bad decision, Everybody going the end
- 4:32Speaker 2: wake up one morning and have done something they regretted.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Everybody gonna get caught at the wrong time. Every everybody
- 4:40Speaker 2: gonna make a mistake. It ain't just you. That's how
- 4:43Speaker 2: you play your cards when they get dealt to you.
- 4:45Speaker 2: That determine who you are. Now, how do I play
- 4:48Speaker 2: my cards better? First of all, it's a mindset. Quit
- 4:52Speaker 2: looking at everything as just the end when it happens
- 4:55Speaker 2: to you. Oh lord, woe is me? No, everybody got
- 5:00Speaker 2: your circumstances somewhere.
- 5:03Speaker 1: It ain't old woe as me. It's hold on man.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Okay, let me play this out to see how God
- 5:09Speaker 2: done connected this to something else. See soon as a
- 5:12Speaker 2: person have a setback, what's the first thing A lot
- 5:13Speaker 2: of people do. They go straight negative. I can't see
- 5:16Speaker 2: em to get a break, I can't seem to move forward.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Hold on man, do you realize this could be connected
- 5:21Speaker 2: to something. See, you got to understand, man, that this
- 5:25Speaker 2: thing is all connected. That you not having these mishaps
- 5:28Speaker 2: and these spills and accidents and falls for no reason.
- 5:32Speaker 2: It's so you can become experienced at them. So when
- 5:35Speaker 2: he takes you to the next level, when it happens again,
- 5:38Speaker 2: you have no how and how to handle it. If
- 5:40Speaker 2: you keep throwing yourself off the cliff every time something happened,
- 5:45Speaker 2: you just gonna be a cliff divil man. Stop tripping
- 5:48Speaker 2: yourself out. I was talking to this young person, I
- 5:51Speaker 2: kept saying, and you know what, they tried to tell me.
- 5:53Speaker 2: I'm trying to stay positive. But to people around here,
- 5:56Speaker 2: they just killing that. Oh I see. So when you
- 6:00Speaker 2: learn something and you know something, you don't take ownership
- 6:04Speaker 2: of it. You allow other people to come into what
- 6:07Speaker 2: you know and believe and shake it loose from you.
- 6:11Speaker 2: I don't care who you are. You not doing me
- 6:12Speaker 2: like that. Here's a deal. I have a gift that
- 6:15Speaker 2: was given to me from God. That is the gift
- 6:18Speaker 2: of comedy. That's what I've done. I've made the bulk
- 6:21Speaker 2: of my living on that skill set.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Right there.
- 6:24Speaker 2: There are comedians who are supposedly friends of mine who
- 6:27Speaker 2: I've worked with, who get around in huddles with one
- 6:30Speaker 2: another and they say, man, Steve really ain't funny. I
- 6:33Speaker 2: don't see what they be laughing at. He ain't funny
- 6:35Speaker 2: to me. He wasn't the funniest king to me. Excuse me,
- 6:40Speaker 2: you're irrelevant in this conversation because irregardless as to how
- 6:44Speaker 2: you feel about me, there are people think that I'm
- 6:47Speaker 2: knocked down kill over funny. But more importantly, I own
- 6:51Speaker 2: the gift that God gave to me. I take ownership
- 6:55Speaker 2: of his blessing. Cause you don't think it's so. You
- 6:57Speaker 2: ain't taking that from me. Stop letting people steal your joy.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Stop letting people take what you're supposed to know. Look,
- 7:06Speaker 2: I'm a I'm a I'm a kind person at heart. Man,
- 7:10Speaker 2: You ain't nothing now you sitting here going man, I
- 7:12Speaker 2: guess I ain't. What's your tripping for?
- 7:14Speaker 1: You are a.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Kind person, own that take ownership of it. Stop letting
- 7:21Speaker 2: things God has given you be taken away from others.
- 7:25Speaker 2: The devil is a cold player, and he got cold
- 7:27Speaker 2: players working for him, just shaking, just taking stuff from you.
- 7:31Speaker 2: You know, I'm a hard worker. I really am intelligent.
- 7:34Speaker 1: You stupid man. I thought I was a hard worker. Man.
- 7:38Speaker 1: They came in here and said I was stupid. Man.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I don't know what I'm doing wrong. What excuse me?
- 7:44Speaker 2: You're a very bright person. Hey, y'all take ownership. When
- 7:48Speaker 2: God gives you something, blesses you with a gift, a talent,
- 7:50Speaker 2: a skill set, a mindset.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Own it. Don't let people come in here and take
- 7:55Speaker 1: it from you. Man. Okay, I probably shouldn't have went
- 7:58Speaker 1: that here. Steve Harvey Morning Show
