Speaker 1: And now move the sticks with Daniel, Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
• 0:07
Speaker 2: What's up everybody? Welcome to move the sticks, DJ, Bucky
• 0:10
Speaker 2: and Baldy and h Baldy. As we get started here,
• 0:13
Speaker 2: I you know Bucky knows about this. It's it was
• 0:16
Speaker 2: a tough weekend for me.
• 0:17
  Speaker 3: It just was.
• 0:18
Speaker 2: It wasn't so tough about it. Let me just give
• 0:21
Speaker 2: you the backstory here, Baldi, real quick. So my daughter
• 0:25
Speaker 2: who's now married and lives in Fort Worth, but this
• 0:27
Speaker 2: is several, yeah, maybe maybe five years ago. She knew like,
• 0:31
Speaker 2: I'm a lifelong Padre fan and like probably too much
• 0:34
Speaker 2: of a fan, so she thought it would be funny
• 0:37
Speaker 2: for my Christmas gift.
• 0:38
  Speaker 3: One year.
• 0:38
Speaker 2: She goes, you know what, I'm gonna get dad a
• 0:40
Speaker 2: coffee mug and then see if he thinks it's real funny.
• 0:43
Speaker 2: So this is the this is the coffee mug that
• 0:46
Speaker 2: she bought me. Now, since she bought me this coffee
• 0:49
Speaker 2: mug five years ago, this speaking team have won three
• 0:53
Speaker 2: World Series, including back to back. So I'm drinking the
• 0:57
Speaker 2: coffee today and then I'm gonna throw this mug away
• 0:59
Speaker 2: and hopefully that's gonna be the last time I have
• 1:01
Speaker 2: to watch the Dodgers.
• 1:02
Speaker 3: Well, not that you want.
• 1:03
Speaker 1: To hear this, DJ, but I I'm thankful it was
• 1:06
Speaker 1: daylight saving time this weekend because I stayed up for
• 1:08
  Speaker 1: the eleven innings.
• 1:09
Speaker 3: Yeah, that was as good a baseball game. That great game.
• 1:12
  Speaker 1: I mean, if we're talking about x's and o's and
• 1:15
Speaker 1: execution and all that stuff. I never seen more catches,
• 1:19
Speaker 1: more tags, more throws that god is still eleven innings
• 1:23
Speaker 1: than in that game.
• 1:24
Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to I want to start here a
• 1:26
Speaker 2: little because we're got we got tons of football we're
• 1:27
Speaker 2: gonna get to. But I do think it's something we've
• 1:29
Speaker 2: talked about buck with with team building over the years.
• 1:33
Speaker 2: And you know, I look, I tongue in cheek and
• 1:35
Speaker 2: I make fun of the Dodgers because of the checkbook,
• 1:37
Speaker 2: and I joke around that our minor league teams in
• 1:40
Speaker 2: Lake Elson or theirs is the country of Japan. But nonetheless,
• 1:45
Speaker 2: at the end of the day, I feel like there
• 1:47
Speaker 2: was it was I even uh, I enjoyed watching the
• 1:52
Speaker 2: Miguel Rojas type players. The andy pie has gets inserted,
• 1:56
Speaker 2: makes it play in center field, and I feel like
• 1:58
Speaker 2: every championship team you know, and we see it every year,
• 2:01
Speaker 2: just watch Super Bowl every year, you know it was it.
• 2:03
Speaker 2: Corey Clement one year with the with the Eagles has
• 2:07
Speaker 2: a great game like it.
• 2:08
  Speaker 3: Man.
• 2:09
Speaker 2: And we've had guys and I've talked to hockey hockey
• 2:11
Speaker 2: buddies and that they are in personnel and they talk about, Hey,
• 2:13
Speaker 2: at the trade deadline, we want like we're trying to
• 2:16
Speaker 2: get championship glue like that, we're not chasing start.
• 2:19
  Speaker 3: We got this.
• 2:19
Speaker 2: We have the stars, like we just need the glue
• 2:21
Speaker 2: to kind of hold all this stuff together. And I
• 2:23
Speaker 2: thought it was another example of whatever sport you're in,
• 2:25
Speaker 2: that you got to have those types of guys.
• 2:27
  Speaker 3: I agree.
• 2:28
Speaker 1: I agree, And they're like, you know that to see
• 2:30
Speaker 1: where some of those guys started this year and where
• 2:32
Speaker 1: they finished, you know, celebrating and and uh you know
• 2:35
Speaker 1: the confetti following all the stuff that happened to the
• 2:37
Speaker 1: Dodgers into Toronto as well.
• 2:39
Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, and some of the type guys.
• 2:41
Speaker 1: But uh, you know, we'll see what happens on by Tuesday,
• 2:44
Speaker 1: trades are already being made. But I mean, you watch
• 2:48
Speaker 1: some of these guys that are coming out of nowhere,
• 2:49
  Speaker 1: Kyle man Ungui.
• 2:50
Speaker 3: We'll get to it.
• 2:51
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I did hit. I'm looking forward that conversation. Yeah, Buck,
• 2:56
Speaker 2: did you give me a and Bucky for those who
• 2:58
Speaker 2: don't know, is the Dodger adopted but still the your fan?
• 3:00
  Speaker 3: But what what?
• 3:02
Speaker 2: What give me a move?
• 3:05
  Speaker 3: The sticks?
• 3:05
Speaker 2: Team building takeaway, I.
• 3:08
Speaker 4: Would say outside of team building, man, can you have
• 3:12
Speaker 4: a team that can execute the fundamentals under pressure? I
• 3:15
Speaker 4: think when I look at them and I think about
• 3:17
Speaker 4: the last two times they won, when they beat the
• 3:19
Speaker 4: Yankees or whatever. We can talk about the talent, but
• 3:22
Speaker 4: really was the execution of fundamentals and high pressurized environments.
• 3:26
Speaker 4: Can you turn the double play? Do you have the
• 3:29
Speaker 4: awareness to know where to go with the ball in
• 3:32
Speaker 4: those moments? Because we saw the Phillies. The Phillies basically
• 3:35
Speaker 4: gifted the Dodgers a thing because the pitcher had a
• 3:38
Speaker 4: brain for and a critical moment that that pressure just.
• 3:43
  Speaker 3: And so it's funny because m J. D came and
• 3:46
Speaker 3: spoke to my high school team last week and he
• 3:48
  Speaker 3: talked about can.
• 3:48
Speaker 4: You do the routine things routine? But when you get
• 3:52
Speaker 4: in pressure moments, can you do the simple things like
• 3:55
Speaker 4: make the throw the first? Can you get the cutoff?
• 3:58
  Speaker 3: Man?
• 3:58
Speaker 4: Can you do the things that you practice all the
• 4:01
Speaker 4: way from little league to the majors when the game is.
• 4:05
Speaker 3: On the line. To me, that's everything.
• 4:07
Speaker 4: And we see the International Football League, you know, I'm
• 4:09
Speaker 4: looking at the Patriots. The Patriots are winning because they're
• 4:13
Speaker 4: just executing the fundamentals and playing company football. Like if
• 4:16
Speaker 4: you ask me what has really changed in them is
• 4:18
Speaker 4: they're playing company football at a fundamental level. That's why
• 4:22
  Speaker 4: they're winning.
• 4:23
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 4:24
Speaker 2: I think there's also you know, last thing, we'll get
• 4:25
Speaker 2: to the football here, but there's also just kind of
• 4:27
Speaker 2: knowing your identity. And I think that there's when you
• 4:31
Speaker 2: get in those big moments you have it's a fight
• 4:34
Speaker 2: or flight, Like you get the guys who are in
• 4:35
Speaker 2: an attack, We're going to attack and aggressive. And again
• 4:37
Speaker 2: I go back to the I mean, shoot, you go
• 4:39
Speaker 2: back to the Philly Special like that that whoa okay,
• 4:42
Speaker 2: Like we're there's no there's no such thing as playing
• 4:45
Speaker 2: on your heels. You were playing on your toes and
• 4:46
Speaker 2: you're playing in an attack mode and you go for it,
• 4:49
Speaker 2: and you know, and the and the Blue Jays, I'm
• 4:51
Speaker 2: sure we'll have a lot of you know, of these
• 4:53
Speaker 2: little regrets. You don't get a good secondary lead off
• 4:55
Speaker 2: third base like that that play was this close. Like
• 4:58
Speaker 2: just if you'd just executed that one little fundamental, you
• 5:01
Speaker 2: ran the World Series. And it's like that in football
• 5:03
Speaker 2: a time game. Evnch is famous quote. But let's jump
• 5:06
Speaker 2: into these games, guys. Let's start first of all, Baldi,
• 5:09
Speaker 2: let's go Casey Buffalo. I took a look and really
• 5:13
Speaker 2: did a little fun study on Josh Allen in this one.
• 5:16
Speaker 2: But I'd love to know what your takeaways were in
• 5:17
  Speaker 2: this ball game.
• 5:19
Speaker 1: Well, you know Aaron Kromer, the offensive line coach. You
• 5:22
Speaker 1: know he's he's got a great offensive line. But they
• 5:27
Speaker 1: get on a play, they will run that play over.
• 5:30
Speaker 1: And oh, they ran a countertray with Jackson Hawes's rookie
• 5:35
Speaker 1: tight end who's really a great blocker, and Reggie Gilliam.
• 5:38
Speaker 1: They ran it literally three times a row, but they
• 5:40
Speaker 1: ran it eight times before Kansas City finally shut it down.
• 5:43
Speaker 1: They got James Cocones first time in twenty eight games
• 5:46
Speaker 1: with the Chiefs surrender one hundred yard rusher, and I
• 5:49
Speaker 1: thought that's where it started. I thought on offense, like
• 5:52
Speaker 1: they really won the line of scrimmage, and you know
• 5:54
Speaker 1: what's Fag's gonna line up Bolton and Tranquil and Chanale
• 5:57
Speaker 1: and you're gonna throw big linebackers and stack the box,
• 6:00
Speaker 1: and they got creases on that play a bunch. And
• 6:03
Speaker 1: then you know, Josh you know, did what he does,
• 6:05
Speaker 1: you know, just being able to extend plays and find
• 6:08
Speaker 1: open receivers and all that kind of stuff. So I
• 6:10
Speaker 1: thought that was that side of the ball. And then
• 6:11
Speaker 1: on the other side, I thought Cold Bishop really showed up.
• 6:15
Speaker 1: I mean he defended four balls, two of them in
• 6:16
Speaker 1: the end zone, one at the very end of the game.
• 6:19
Speaker 1: And I thought Joey Bosa played the best game I
• 6:21
Speaker 1: seen him play in probably a couple of years. Like
• 6:23
Speaker 1: he's he's been a factor. You know, it helps that
• 6:26
Speaker 1: Milano and Benard are back in there. But those are
• 6:28
Speaker 1: some of the things I saw DJ that James Cook
• 6:31
Speaker 1: got busy, and you know, they stayed with the run.
• 6:34
Speaker 1: They're one of the teams in this league right now.
• 6:36
Speaker 1: The trend started last year. They run it more than
• 6:38
Speaker 1: they've thrown it. They're a running team. We saw that
• 6:40
Speaker 1: when they changed the coordinators last year and that has
• 6:42
Speaker 1: not changed this year.
• 6:44
Speaker 2: Help me help me out, guys, Cold Bishop. Is he
• 6:47
  Speaker 2: twenty four?
• 6:48
  Speaker 3: Yeah, twenty four?
• 6:49
Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, I'm gonna, I'm gona, I'm gonn look at
• 6:51
  Speaker 2: his notes, there.
• 6:52
Speaker 1: Was some question marks in the back end, especially with
• 6:54
Speaker 1: Mahomes and and all that speed they got Bucky, and
• 6:57
Speaker 1: I thought like he was everywhere.
• 6:59
Speaker 3: He was a manned man.
• 7:00
Speaker 1: I know if Xavier Worthy he was on the back half,
• 7:02
Speaker 1: he was in the center field, like he was everywhere
• 7:04
  Speaker 1: in this game.
• 7:05
Speaker 2: Six two two oh six four four five, three sacks,
• 7:10
Speaker 2: two picks. I wrote down Johnny on the spot. He
• 7:12
Speaker 2: directs traffic, He's a communicator, he kills running backs as
• 7:15
Speaker 2: a blitzer. He's plays some nickel backer. He can shed blocks,
• 7:19
Speaker 2: his physical versus tight end. He's very comfortable and effective
• 7:22
Speaker 2: in the robber role kind of playing in that in
• 7:24
Speaker 2: that spot of the field. So I always like when
• 7:28
Speaker 2: if Baldy notices something on the NFL tape, it's always
• 7:30
Speaker 2: fun to go back and look at the college notes
• 7:32
Speaker 2: and see if there's a marriage there.
• 7:33
Speaker 3: Yeah, there's certainly something there.
• 7:36
Speaker 4: And we've talked about the Buffalo Bills, and we talked
• 7:39
Speaker 4: about like the sum of the parts and how they
• 7:41
Speaker 4: kind of put together and how they have a clear
• 7:44
Speaker 4: blueprint for how they want to play on offense and defense.
• 7:47
Speaker 3: And defense in particular. It is a championship puzzle.
• 7:51
Speaker 4: They don't necessarily have stars, but they have a bunch
• 7:54
Speaker 4: of role players that collectively play at a high level.
• 7:57
Speaker 4: And when you get them to play offense the way
• 7:59
Speaker 4: they want to play, where they're running the football, they're
• 8:01
Speaker 4: dominating time for possession, they're controlling the clock. Their ability
• 8:05
Speaker 4: to play confmunity football at a high level gives them
• 8:07
Speaker 4: a chance to beat anybody. And in this game, what
• 8:10
Speaker 4: I love about Sean McDermott and Josh Allen is they
• 8:14
Speaker 4: are the chameleon. They're the team that can They can
• 8:17
Speaker 4: engage in shootouts, they can play in grandit out affairs,
• 8:19
Speaker 4: and they don't mind doing either to win. Just a
• 8:23
Speaker 4: really good win for the Buffalo Bills, and at a
• 8:25
Speaker 4: time when people were talking about, oh here come the Chiefs, they.
• 8:28
Speaker 3: Squashed it right away with a great performance on Sunday.
• 8:31
  Speaker 1: You know, they're largely a zone team, so there's a
• 8:34
Speaker 1: there's a sequence of plays at the end of the
• 8:36
Speaker 1: first half of the Chiefs are down there knocking on
• 8:39
Speaker 1: the door. They're down on the two yard line and
• 8:41
Speaker 1: they you know, you see these teams break down his
• 8:44
Speaker 1: zone coverage all the time. Like they don't break down
• 8:47
Speaker 1: his own coverage, like they know when that ball's in
• 8:49
Speaker 1: the air, like they're bebies. Bishop was one of them
• 8:52
Speaker 1: that are coming to contact. They I thought, I didn't
• 8:55
Speaker 1: know if Kelsey was going to make it to the
• 8:57
Speaker 1: second half. The way Bishop hit him in the end
• 8:58
Speaker 1: zone there just buckling, and so they held the Chief
• 9:02
Speaker 1: to a field goal there. It was one of the
• 9:03
Speaker 1: differences in a game right at the end of the
• 9:05
  Speaker 1: first half.
• 9:06
  Speaker 2: That's great, man. I didn't get a chance to watch
• 9:07
Speaker 2: the defensive tape yet I did see in the just
• 9:10
Speaker 2: looking at the numbers, I think we're so had like
• 9:11
Speaker 2: nine or ten pressures in that game too, So he
• 9:14
Speaker 2: sounds like he had a pretty good game on the
• 9:15
Speaker 2: defensive side of the ball. I did go and watch
• 9:17
Speaker 2: all Josh's stuff, and it was interesting how fast everything
• 9:21
Speaker 2: was happening. For the first portion of this game. It
• 9:23
Speaker 2: was just quick decisions. I just wrote down on my notes,
• 9:25
Speaker 2: like he does not turn down easy wins, Like if
• 9:28
Speaker 2: you're going to give him a completion and an easy win,
• 9:30
Speaker 2: he's going to take it right now. Some of it
• 9:32
Speaker 2: is in the screen game that's designed, but I mean
• 9:34
Speaker 2: he's reading it and he's just taking it. And what
• 9:36
Speaker 2: he does I think about, Remember, we're all growing up
• 9:38
Speaker 2: and we're playing basketball, and you'd warm up doing the
• 9:40
Speaker 2: dribbling drills, so you'd start pounding the ball really really low,
• 9:43
Speaker 2: and it's just like that, quick, quick, quick, and then
• 9:44
Speaker 2: you start now you start balancing higher like that, letting
• 9:47
Speaker 2: the ball bounce. So it's like, that's his rhythm. He's
• 9:49
Speaker 2: going to go out there. Buck always likes to talk about, hey,
• 9:51
Speaker 2: let's just see the ball go through the hoop a
• 9:53
Speaker 2: couple times. Find our rhythm, and then we can get
• 9:56
Speaker 2: a little bit more aggressive. So he does that, and
• 9:58
Speaker 2: then it's like, man, he kind of found that little zone.
• 10:00
Speaker 2: And then now next thing you know, now we've got
• 10:02
Speaker 2: cover two. I'm playing with the corner, I'm pulling him up,
• 10:06
Speaker 2: I'm whipping a seven route right over his ear. Now
• 10:08
Speaker 2: I'm hitting these tight ends on these end cuts. Like
• 10:11
Speaker 2: he kind of eases his way into the game. And
• 10:14
Speaker 2: then you look up at the end of the game
• 10:15
Speaker 2: and the guy's twenty three at twenty six, two for
• 10:18
Speaker 2: two seventy three and including in that I think there
• 10:20
Speaker 2: was a drop, so he's really had two incompletions. And
• 10:23
Speaker 2: then he in a jo Hum they can go and
• 10:25
Speaker 2: quarterbacks and he ca it and get two touchdowns out
• 10:27
Speaker 2: of him that way as well. So I asked Harbaugh
• 10:31
Speaker 2: this question the other day Baldy and I thought it
• 10:33
Speaker 2: was he gave actually a great answer. But h I said,
• 10:36
Speaker 2: you know, I feel like in football, when we talk
• 10:39
Speaker 2: about rhythm, we only talk about it in terms of
• 10:42
Speaker 2: like the passing game, and a quarterback, you know, finds
• 10:44
Speaker 2: his rhythm. I said, how about like in the run game, like,
• 10:47
Speaker 2: you know, do you feel like that rhythm? And he
• 10:48
Speaker 2: gave this great answer about how all of sports He said,
• 10:51
  Speaker 2: I don't care. In football, if you're a corner, it's
• 10:54
Speaker 2: just getting in a rhythm with your feet and your hands,
• 10:56
Speaker 2: and you think about the run game, so you know, basketball,
• 10:58
Speaker 2: he said, all of sport is about rhythm. And I thought, man,
• 11:02
Speaker 2: like this this is the way like that was offensively
• 11:05
Speaker 2: for them running the ball, quick completions, Like I just
• 11:08
Speaker 2: thought there was a good rhythm and a flow to
• 11:10
Speaker 2: what they were doing.
• 11:11
Speaker 1: I feel like the way Joe Brady calls a call,
• 11:13
Speaker 1: calls the game right now, like he feels that rhythm.
• 11:16
Speaker 1: There's times when they will go up tempo. But when
• 11:19
Speaker 1: I tell you like the week before they ran the
• 11:21
Speaker 1: same play. I guess it was against Carolina whoever they
• 11:24
Speaker 1: were playing, but they eve ran the same play nine
• 11:27
Speaker 1: times in the game, same run. I mean they don't
• 11:29
Speaker 1: even try to like they don't try to even window
• 11:31
Speaker 1: dress it. You know, they'll just line up in the
• 11:33
Speaker 1: formation and just go. It looks like it's, uh, you know,
• 11:36
Speaker 1: a summer nine on seven drill. We're just gonna work
• 11:39
Speaker 1: on this counter trade today, we're gonna perfect this play.
• 11:42
Speaker 1: And like that's what they get into that rhythm in
• 11:45
Speaker 1: the game, Like they'll just dial it up. Sometimes they
• 11:47
Speaker 1: doubled up because it's supposed to work, and sometimes because
• 11:49
Speaker 1: it did work, but either way.
• 11:51
Speaker 3: They stay with it.
• 11:52
Speaker 2: Buck those nineties Cowboys teams, do you play against them
• 11:55
  Speaker 2: at all?
• 11:56
  Speaker 3: Yeah? We lost.
• 11:57
Speaker 2: I always thought, just as someone who was watching that
• 12:00
Speaker 2: actually that that was like, hey, there's no secrets, this
• 12:02
Speaker 2: is our three running plays and here it comes.
• 12:04
  Speaker 3: Stop it.
• 12:05
Speaker 4: One day, I'm gonna ask RV this because we swore
• 12:08
Speaker 4: that they didn't believe in audibles, Like they would line
• 12:11
Speaker 4: up in whatever you were in. It didn't matter, like
• 12:13
Speaker 4: you could play cover two and they're still gonna throw
• 12:15
Speaker 4: the comeback they're still gonna do whatever it is.
• 12:17
Speaker 3: They canna run, sprint, draw to Emma Smith, and come
• 12:21
  Speaker 3: right downhill.
• 12:22
Speaker 4: And they were so arrogant about it because they say,
• 12:25
Speaker 4: when I'm better than you, why do I need to
• 12:26
  Speaker 4: trick you?
• 12:27
Speaker 3: We're better? So they just line up and do their thing.
• 12:30
Speaker 4: And there is something too what Baldy saying with the
• 12:32
Speaker 4: Buffalo bills about Hey, there's no need for us to
• 12:36
Speaker 4: stop us. If this team can't stop this play, we
• 12:40
Speaker 4: go keep running it until they show that they can
• 12:42
Speaker 4: stop it. And then when they stop it, we're gonna
• 12:44
Speaker 4: run it again to make sure that they found the answer.
• 12:48
Speaker 3: And it wasn't look that they stopped it. But that's
• 12:51
Speaker 3: what great play callers do.
• 12:52
Speaker 4: And look, I can say this and I learned it
• 12:54
Speaker 4: from watching Steve Spurry when he was at Duke and
• 12:56
  Speaker 4: I was a freshman.
• 12:57
Speaker 3: Steve Spurry would run one play on one.
• 13:00
Speaker 4: Side, slipped the formation, and run the exact same play
• 13:04
Speaker 4: and I was like, I've never seen anybody do this,
• 13:06
Speaker 4: but He's like, if you can't stop it out, I'm
• 13:08
Speaker 4: just gonna keep running it. And there is some ingenuity
• 13:11
Speaker 4: to being able to do that.
• 13:13
Speaker 1: And one of the things I think you were talking
• 13:15
Speaker 1: about going back to team building, DJ. You know, one
• 13:19
Speaker 1: of the reason why the Bills have not been able
• 13:21
Speaker 1: to get past the Chiefs in the postseasons they haven't
• 13:23
Speaker 1: affected Mahomes enough. And yesterday they hit him fifteen times,
• 13:28
Speaker 1: you know, Bosa hit him five times all by himself,
• 13:30
Speaker 1: and there was a lot of deep throws where Mahomes
• 13:33
Speaker 1: never saw the ball like he was like literally, uh,
• 13:36
Speaker 1: you know, on the turf and buffalo there and so
• 13:38
Speaker 1: that's the formula. And whether it was Rousseau or Bosa
• 13:42
Speaker 1: at Panessa, like they got to Mahomes just and honestly,
• 13:46
Speaker 1: for the first time this year, the tackles were terrible,
• 13:49
Speaker 1: like Jalen Moore, like all of a sudden, you go
• 13:51
Speaker 1: and get now to gets Simmons back. Juwan Taylor, you know,
• 13:56
  Speaker 1: is gonna he's gonna have a holding call, He's he's
• 13:58
Speaker 1: gonna do something, just going to jump off sides like
• 14:01
Speaker 1: I thought yesterday and the Janner Morris came in for him,
• 14:04
Speaker 1: and I thought they really beat the tackles up bad yesterday.
• 14:07
Speaker 2: And they had been pretty good to this point, no doubt.
• 14:11
Speaker 2: Let's get to another game here. Uh, at this point
• 14:15
Speaker 2: in time, is someone who's has been uh been on
• 14:18
  Speaker 2: the Darnald train.
• 14:19
  Speaker 3: Man.
• 14:19
Speaker 2: Like it's the point now I don't even have to
• 14:21
Speaker 2: argue anymore. I mean I just kind of sit back
• 14:23
Speaker 2: and just say this petion DJ. I mean, if you're into,
• 14:27
Speaker 2: if you're into incompletions, he's not your guy. I mean,
• 14:29
Speaker 2: I'll just tell you that right now. But I mean,
• 14:31
Speaker 2: perfect first half for him ended up as a ridiculous
• 14:34
Speaker 2: stat line. I'll uh, I'll jump in on something real
• 14:36
Speaker 2: quick because I you know, we can talk about Sam,
• 14:38
Speaker 2: We've talked about him a bunch, but Tory Horton when
• 14:41
Speaker 2: he was drafted, I mean he was it was such
• 14:44
Speaker 2: it was so ridiculous.
• 14:45
  Speaker 3: Buck.
• 14:46
Speaker 2: It was like when you're sitting there on the desk.
• 14:48
Speaker 2: You're sitting there on the desk, and it's to the
• 14:50
Speaker 2: point where you start texting guys and calling guys and
• 14:53
Speaker 2: being like, dude, what am I missing? Am I taking
• 14:56
Speaker 2: crazy pills? How the heck is this guy still on
• 14:58
Speaker 2: the board? Like this is this isn't all that hard.
• 15:01
Speaker 2: I know he hadn't been totally healthy, but this is
• 15:03
Speaker 2: not not tough. He has two touchdowns in this game.
• 15:06
Speaker 2: You can get it to him quick. I mean it's
• 15:08
Speaker 2: a boat race. He runs a corner route and it's
• 15:10
Speaker 2: just like he's over ten yard. I mean, it's not
• 15:12
Speaker 2: such a close, such a fast rounde what what a yeah?
• 15:17
Speaker 2: What a steal? And a fine?
• 15:18
Speaker 3: Was he did he drop because of a knee problem.
• 15:21
Speaker 2: He didn't play much. He didn't play much as last year,
• 15:23
Speaker 2: didn't play as well. I'll pull up my uh, I'll
• 15:25
Speaker 2: pull up my notes on him right now. Uh So
• 15:28
Speaker 2: Tory Horton excellent twenty three was hurt this year. Inside outside,
• 15:32
Speaker 2: smooth mover, it can separate, deep, excellent agility, change of direction,
• 15:37
Speaker 2: he can work back. He's got a huge catch radius.
• 15:39
Speaker 2: He's six oh two four one. He ran four to
• 15:42
Speaker 2: four one. So he was my seventy third overall player.
• 15:46
Speaker 2: And I think they I think he was a fifth
• 15:48
Speaker 2: round pick. Maybe yeah, I can fund What the heck?
• 15:53
Speaker 2: I didn't understand that one, but man, he's he was great.
• 15:57
Speaker 2: And then uh, I got a text from Brock Hubord
• 15:59
Speaker 2: this morning because I do that thing with him every week,
• 16:01
Speaker 2: and he said he's like, hey, go watch the receivers
• 16:04
Speaker 2: block because I've been hammering.
• 16:06
  Speaker 3: I've been hammering.
• 16:06
Speaker 2: This is the same point all year, which is my
• 16:09
Speaker 2: culture definition now for for a team's is how how
• 16:13
Speaker 2: physical are your little guys and how and how do
• 16:15
Speaker 2: your big guys run. So if you've got defensive linemen
• 16:18
Speaker 2: that are hustling and chasing, and you've got corners that
• 16:20
Speaker 2: are tackling, and you've got receivers that are blocking, you
• 16:23
Speaker 2: got linemen who are efforting, straining to finish like that's
• 16:26
Speaker 2: a cold, that means you got your culture dialed in, Baldy,
• 16:28
Speaker 2: and I think the Seahawks team's got a big time
• 16:30
  Speaker 2: on both sides.
• 16:32
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I thought Gray's Abel was a perfect pick,
• 16:34
Speaker 1: you know, at left guard for him really solidified the line.
• 16:37
Speaker 1: But honestly, like I think, sometimes you just put the
• 16:40
Speaker 1: quarterback and the coordinator together like Sam and Clinton Goog.
• 16:45
Speaker 1: It's it's a symphony right now the way this thing
• 16:47
Speaker 1: is operating. And I know we've talked about Smith and
• 16:50
Speaker 1: Jig but before, but he I mean, I know Jamar
• 16:54
Speaker 1: is probably going to lead the league with catches and
• 16:55
  Speaker 1: all that stuff. But I don't know if there's a
• 16:57
Speaker 1: more difficult guy to defend this league right now than
• 16:59
Speaker 1: Jackson Smith Jig. But what he does to separate, like
• 17:03
Speaker 1: his subtle moves, I always thought Bucky that you know,
• 17:05
Speaker 1: to be a great route runner, you got to be
• 17:07
Speaker 1: able to change direction without losing speed. And his subtle
• 17:11
Speaker 1: movements to separate are as good as anybody right now.
• 17:14
  Speaker 3: He's terrific.
• 17:15
Speaker 4: Han't had a chance to watch him a few weeks ago,
• 17:17
Speaker 4: early in the month when they came to Seattle. I
• 17:19
Speaker 4: mean when they came to Jacksonville. That team is well constructed.
• 17:23
Speaker 4: DJ you talked about Sam Donald and their offense. Their
• 17:25
Speaker 4: offense is one that has a rhythm and a flow
• 17:27
Speaker 4: to it. You talk about Jim Harbaugh talks about getting
• 17:29
Speaker 4: into a rhythm. That's what you feel Jackson Smith and
• 17:32
Speaker 4: Jig but is the one though he is the number
• 17:34
Speaker 4: one option, he is a smooth route runner.
• 17:37
Speaker 3: He has big playability.
• 17:39
Speaker 4: I feel like each game he has even more confidence
• 17:41
Speaker 4: and more competitive arrogance that shows up like he kind
• 17:44
Speaker 4: of has this bounce in this step where he knows
• 17:48
Speaker 4: I'm the man and you can't stop me. And I
• 17:49
Speaker 4: feel like great players have that and I'm seeing that
• 17:52
Speaker 4: in him. But then he's surrounded by a bunch of
• 17:55
Speaker 4: guys that can get it done. You talked about Horton,
• 17:57
Speaker 4: I mean you got Alijer Arroyo. You have other wise
• 18:00
Speaker 4: receivers that can come up and make big plays, and
• 18:02
Speaker 4: they still can get to the running game when they
• 18:05
Speaker 4: want to. This is a really good team because that
• 18:09
Speaker 4: offense operates like that. And then defensively, I'm gonna tell you, man,
• 18:12
Speaker 4: you can be hard for us to find a more
• 18:15
Speaker 4: disruptive and athletic group of trench warriors than what they
• 18:19
  Speaker 4: have in Seattle.
• 18:20
Speaker 2: There's a million with Leonard Williams, Murphy, you will.
• 18:25
Speaker 3: Sue you got to raise Lawrence, I mean, Jerry Reed.
• 18:28
Speaker 4: They are just rolling these guys in and look, I
• 18:33
Speaker 4: would say this if this was a dating gap.
• 18:35
Speaker 3: They certainly have a type because all these guys look
• 18:38
Speaker 3: the same. They are all the.
• 18:39
Speaker 4: Same type, big hands, they dominate, they are Look, man,
• 18:43
Speaker 4: this is a team that is emerging as one of
• 18:46
Speaker 4: those dark horse contendents that we're going to talk about
• 18:48
Speaker 4: in the end because they certainly have a team that
• 18:50
Speaker 4: can get it done.
• 18:51
Speaker 1: And we've talked about big Kat Williams a lot this year,
• 18:55
Speaker 1: but honestly, I always thought DJ that for most defensive line,
• 19:00
Speaker 1: not all, but most, it takes a year to figure
• 19:02
Speaker 1: it out. And I feel like Byron Murphy has figured
• 19:04
Speaker 1: it out. He is now a real fight, not just
• 19:07
Speaker 1: in the run. That guy is a real factor. He's
• 19:10
Speaker 1: he looks like it's a great John Schneider pick right there.
• 19:13
Speaker 1: That he's going to be like the middle of that
• 19:15
Speaker 1: defense with Dron and Big Cat, the whole group right
• 19:18
Speaker 1: now for a long time.
• 19:20
Speaker 2: I wish, you know, these teams haven't played yet, but
• 19:22
Speaker 2: I'd be all for it if we could have the
• 19:24
Speaker 2: first ever doubleheader and just say we're going to have
• 19:27
Speaker 2: the Rams and the Seahawks play it. Let's let's start
• 19:30
Speaker 2: the first game at eleven. Let's play that first game.
• 19:32
Speaker 2: Let's get let's get some orange slices in, let's get
• 19:35
Speaker 2: a little bit of a break, and then we come
• 19:36
Speaker 2: back and play at seven o'clock and let these two
• 19:38
Speaker 2: teams go at it again again. Those games are going
• 19:40
Speaker 2: to be a real war. It's gonna be a war, man.
• 19:42
Speaker 2: I can't wait for that. Let's take quick break, we
• 19:45
Speaker 2: come back, we'll knock out a few more games. This
• 19:50
Speaker 2: one is the one that we're going to talk about
• 19:52
Speaker 2: that I didn't have a chance to get to the
• 19:53
Speaker 2: tape yet, so I'm gonna have to defer to you guys.
• 19:55
Speaker 2: We had to man all this crazy stuff going on.
• 19:57
Speaker 2: So we were late getting in last night coming home
• 20:00
Speaker 2: from Nashville with the Chargers. So this is the one
• 20:03
Speaker 2: I didn't get Indie Pitt. So, Baldy, why don't you
• 20:06
Speaker 2: jump off here? Tell me what I missed in this.
• 20:08
  Speaker 3: I was there.
• 20:09
Speaker 1: I was there from the beginning. I talked to our
• 20:11
Speaker 1: boy Andy wide up before the game, and honestly, I
• 20:14
Speaker 1: went down just pretty game.
• 20:15
Speaker 3: I was on the field.
• 20:16
Speaker 1: I was talking to TJ and Hie Smith, and I
• 20:19
Speaker 1: met Jack Sawyer for the first time, and I just
• 20:22
Speaker 1: I told those guys, like, you're gonna turn this thing around.
• 20:23
Speaker 1: They had given up sixty eight points and losses to
• 20:26
Speaker 1: Cincinnati and Green Bath. If you got to go, I
• 20:28
Speaker 1: just told TJ, if you're going to turn this thing
• 20:30
Speaker 1: around here, it's got to be with you guys. And honestly,
• 20:33
Speaker 1: the Colts had their way for the first quarter. They
• 20:35
Speaker 1: went up and down the field, and then TJ turned
• 20:37
Speaker 1: a corner on Braden Smith got the sack sack fumble
• 20:40
Speaker 1: recovery and it was all downhill from there. Like they
• 20:44
Speaker 1: dominated the front all game. And it was interesting. They
• 20:48
Speaker 1: had traded for Kyle Dugar this week. You know, I
• 20:50
Speaker 1: think he arrived on Tuesday or Wednesday, and they you know,
• 20:54
Speaker 1: they had gotten you know, Deshaun Elliott got hurt and
• 20:57
Speaker 1: Chuck Clark was was ineffective.
• 21:00
Speaker 3: They started Jayalen Ramsey Duggart safety.
• 21:01
Speaker 1: They played every play and nothing got over their head
• 21:04
Speaker 1: for the first time all year, Like nothing went over
• 21:07
Speaker 1: their head. And it started up front. They had They
• 21:10
Speaker 1: had some different looks defensively, some different They came after
• 21:15
Speaker 1: Daniel Jones a lot, and they turned it over six
• 21:17
Speaker 1: times in a game, and they they you could see
• 21:20
Speaker 1: that this team could still be a problem because they're
• 21:23
Speaker 1: taking care of the ball. On offense, they're not great,
• 21:25
Speaker 1: they're not dynamic, but when the defense plays like that,
• 21:27
Speaker 1: you get as many extra bats as you get. Because
• 21:31
Speaker 1: Jonathan Taylor was a non factor in the game for
• 21:33
Speaker 1: maybe the first time all year.
• 21:35
Speaker 4: You know, what's interesting is whenever you dismissed the Pittsburgh
• 21:39
Speaker 4: stealers or count them out, they find a way to
• 21:41
Speaker 4: always come back with force. And they are a team
• 21:44
Speaker 4: and Mike Tomlin has a way of kind of like
• 21:46
Speaker 4: being able to keep the season in perspective while building
• 21:49
Speaker 4: that back. What's interesting you talk about Dougar and Ramsey
• 21:53
Speaker 4: safety and being able to keep the ball in front
• 21:56
Speaker 4: because I worried about they were playing so much man
• 21:58
Speaker 4: de man early. You've seen the big plays, and I wondered,
• 22:01
Speaker 4: are they going to need to transition back to whether
• 22:03
Speaker 4: stillers have always been, which is a zone team, a
• 22:06
Speaker 4: zone blitz team, a pressure team, a zone behind it,
• 22:09
Speaker 4: because that's how they eliminate the big plays. And when
• 22:11
Speaker 4: they're able to take the ball away and do that,
• 22:14
Speaker 4: it gives them time to kind of warm up that
• 22:17
Speaker 4: old jelapia of an offense that they're playing with because
• 22:20
Speaker 4: it's not sexy what they're doing offensively, but it can
• 22:23
Speaker 4: be effected because Aaron Rodgers can get them in and
• 22:25
  Speaker 4: out of plays.
• 22:26
Speaker 3: He can make a handful of throws to do it.
• 22:28
Speaker 4: But they're going to need their defense to carry the
• 22:31
Speaker 4: water because their offense is incapable of being a high
• 22:35
Speaker 4: powered offense just based on the personnel and what they have.
• 22:39
Speaker 2: Well, I'm looking forward to studying that game. I got
• 22:41
Speaker 2: the Steelers coming to so far this week, so get
• 22:43
Speaker 2: to see them against the Chargers. So looking forward to
• 22:45
Speaker 2: seeing what you guys saw on that. One interesting note
• 22:48
Speaker 2: here from Gavin and the chat here Jalen Ramsey to
• 22:50
Speaker 2: Baldy's point, eighty three point six percent of his snaps
• 22:53
Speaker 2: the first time in his career, we're at safety, the
• 22:56
Speaker 2: first time he's been over thirty percent of snaps in
• 22:58
Speaker 2: the game. So he was eighty three point six percent.
• 23:01
Speaker 2: And then Douggar, who they just brought in seventy two
• 23:03
Speaker 2: of seventy six. Yeah, so I mean he was out
• 23:06
Speaker 2: there ninety seven point three percent. Like they rolled with
• 23:08
Speaker 2: those guys. Baldy well the.
• 23:10
Speaker 1: Guy that you will that will pop and I'm sure
• 23:13
Speaker 1: that you know, uh when he was healthy at North Carolina, say,
• 23:16
Speaker 1: Peyton Wilson was, Oh yeah, I mean I know when
• 23:18
Speaker 1: you see you know, when you see him him, you're like,
• 23:20
Speaker 1: you don't see inside linebackers that are six four with
• 23:23
Speaker 1: that kind of range and speed. And you know he
• 23:26
Speaker 1: had the interception Daniel Jones never saw him, a little
• 23:28
Speaker 1: whip route to Josh Downs. He blocked the pass coming
• 23:31
Speaker 1: off of Blitz that Jack Sawyer intercepted. He had thirteen tackles.
• 23:36
Speaker 1: He was all over the field, and they've been rotating,
• 23:39
Speaker 1: you know, inside linebackers with Queen and whole coming of it.
• 23:42
Speaker 1: Like Peyton Wilson is their guy and he he was.
• 23:45
Speaker 1: He was a real difference maker in that game.
• 23:47
Speaker 2: So I'm going through my notes on him. I mean,
• 23:50
Speaker 2: he he's in red on my list. So he was
• 23:52
Speaker 2: my forty first player. He would have been one of
• 23:54
Speaker 2: my grade wise, would have been one of my top
• 23:56
Speaker 2: fifteen players in that drafty six oh three seven he
• 23:59
Speaker 2: was two thirty three. He ran four four three. He's
• 24:02
Speaker 2: a wrestling champion, had you know, the knee and the
• 24:05
Speaker 2: shoulder injuries, which is why he fell. A violent player,
• 24:08
Speaker 2: can shed. He's got excellent instincts, speed and range covering
• 24:11
Speaker 2: the flat. Uh, He's a physical high tackler. He'll chest
• 24:16
Speaker 2: you up, he can run through you. You know who
• 24:18
Speaker 2: My comp was on him, Baldy, because this guy never
• 24:21
Speaker 2: put it together for an extended period of time. But
• 24:24
Speaker 2: he to me, he was a better version of Kiko Alonso.
• 24:27
Speaker 2: You remember back in the day, like early was that long,
• 24:31
  Speaker 2: rangy linebacker Miami.
• 24:33
Speaker 1: The Buffalo stay healthy. But yes he had, he had
• 24:37
Speaker 1: a couple of really good years. But you know, I mean,
• 24:40
Speaker 1: it's just to Bucky's point about Pittsburgh, Like they celebrated
• 24:44
Speaker 1: the twenty year anniversary of the Super Bowl team against
• 24:47
Speaker 1: Seattle and in Detroit, so you know, all the players
• 24:50
Speaker 1: were back and power was there, and you know Ben
• 24:53
Speaker 1: and and you think like even you know, pick a
• 24:55
Speaker 1: guy from that area, Joey Porter or whatever. That's the
• 24:59
Speaker 1: Steelers are built around their linebackers and so but you know,
• 25:02
Speaker 1: Keanu Benton had a great game and Cam Hayward showed up,
• 25:05
Speaker 1: and you know, they came alive.
• 25:07
Speaker 3: They knew what was on the line.
• 25:08
Speaker 1: They'd heard all the talk about it, and man, that
• 25:12
Speaker 1: was that was an impressive performance against what the number
• 25:14
  Speaker 1: one offensive football.
• 25:15
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the best offense I've seen all year in Indy.
• 25:18
Speaker 2: So that's a big win. Let's get to Minnesota Detroit.
• 25:21
Speaker 2: I'll start off on this one. Watch McCarthy's stuff. I
• 25:24
Speaker 2: was curious to see what he looked like. The number
• 25:26
Speaker 2: is pretty predestrian. Fourteen to twenty five a buck forty three,
• 25:30
Speaker 2: had two touchdowns, one pick, and also he ran one in.
• 25:33
Speaker 2: But watching him, you know, I was really encouraged by
• 25:36
Speaker 2: it because there's you can pull out eight plays in
• 25:40
Speaker 2: this game and you can see what you need to see.
• 25:42
Speaker 2: You can see the athleticism, you can see him drive
• 25:45
Speaker 2: a deep comeback. So if you had any concerns about it,
• 25:47
Speaker 2: does he have a big enough arm. He does his
• 25:48
Speaker 2: arm strong enough to be able to do those things.
• 25:50
Speaker 2: I thought he saw the field pretty well. When he
• 25:52
Speaker 2: had a chance to get over the top, he took
• 25:54
Speaker 2: his shots to get down over the top. Now some
• 25:57
Speaker 2: touch stuff, I think that's just rust. You know, you
• 25:59
Speaker 2: got to get through that. He missed some throws with
• 26:02
Speaker 2: some accuracy stuff. But I thought there was a toughness
• 26:04
Speaker 2: the way he played, took some shots in the pocket.
• 26:06
Speaker 2: Thought he saw things pretty clearly. I thought you saw
• 26:09
Speaker 2: the athleticism. You saw it on a scrambled touchdown. And
• 26:12
Speaker 2: I thought you saw the arms strengthen. Man, they poor
• 26:15
  Speaker 2: Meek Robertson. Man, meet Robertson. He's such a he's a
• 26:18
Speaker 2: tough little player. But I mean you're asking him to
• 26:20
Speaker 2: line up on the outside Justin Jefferson. He's gonna pluck
• 26:26
Speaker 2: the ball off his head like there's just you got
• 26:28
  Speaker 2: no shot.
• 26:29
Speaker 3: But I love it.
• 26:29
Speaker 2: I go back to watching him at Louisiana Tech Talk.
• 26:31
Speaker 2: He was such a feisty little player. I admire that.
• 26:34
Speaker 2: But boy, you're bringing a knife to a gunfight when
• 26:36
Speaker 2: you're out there with Justin Jefferson.
• 26:39
Speaker 3: Look, you can't do And I understand what they're trying
• 26:42
Speaker 3: to do with him.
• 26:43
Speaker 4: And look, he had outplayed because they had talked about
• 26:45
Speaker 4: he had earned the right to be on the field,
• 26:47
Speaker 4: and I get that, but Justin Jefferson is a different animal.
• 26:50
Speaker 4: The Minnesota Vikings are interesting because you were hearing all
• 26:53
Speaker 4: these reports about the discord and oh are they falling apart?
• 26:56
Speaker 3: So it was good to see j. J.
• 26:57
Speaker 4: McCarthy and this team get a win. And JJ McCarthy
• 27:01
Speaker 4: I think he is whatever they need him to be. Well,
• 27:04
Speaker 4: he will eventually be whatever they need him to be
• 27:06
Speaker 4: on a given moment, much like he played at Michigan.
• 27:09
Speaker 4: He played in a managerial role in Michigan until they
• 27:12
Speaker 4: need him to be a playmaker. I still believe he
• 27:14
Speaker 4: has that in him and that's going to be the
• 27:16
Speaker 4: player that he is, just because man, I've never heard
• 27:20
Speaker 4: anybody swear by him as much as Jim Harby squears
• 27:22
Speaker 4: by this dude being an alpha and a dude.
• 27:25
Speaker 3: I just think he has it.
• 27:26
Speaker 4: It was a great win for them because they were
• 27:28
Speaker 4: in danger of falling behind the Pack because the Bears
• 27:32
Speaker 4: are going the Packers at the time before the game
• 27:34
Speaker 4: they were going and then the Alliance, so it's a
• 27:36
Speaker 4: great win. It brings that pack all the way back
• 27:38
Speaker 4: together and gives them a fighting chance to get back
• 27:40
Speaker 4: into the conversation in.
• 27:42
Speaker 1: Their next two games are home against Baltimore in Chicago,
• 27:45
Speaker 1: and they're going to we'll find out. I mean, they
• 27:46
Speaker 1: got to five hundred here to halfway point. You know,
• 27:49
Speaker 1: they rescued their season for a week, but it's they're
• 27:52
Speaker 1: going to get tested by two good.
• 27:54
Speaker 2: Teams right now, no question, Chicago Cincinnati. This game was bunker.
• 27:59
Speaker 2: This game almost caused me to miss the bus leaving
• 28:02
Speaker 2: the stadium in Tennessee because I was up there in
• 28:04
  Speaker 2: the Premium League.
• 28:06
  Speaker 3: I'm watching it.
• 28:07
Speaker 2: All of a sudden, I was like, oh, I was
• 28:08
Speaker 2: up there with money. I'm like, whoa, we better get going, man,
• 28:10
Speaker 2: Like we're sprinting down below the stadium to make sure
• 28:13
Speaker 2: we didn't miss the bus.
• 28:14
  Speaker 3: But I couldn't.
• 28:14
Speaker 2: I couldn't turn it off. It was like one wild
• 28:16
Speaker 2: turn after another with oh.
• 28:17
Speaker 1: You you saw an onside kick recovered? You know, I'm crazy, like, uh,
• 28:23
Speaker 1: you know, there's so many things in this game. I mean,
• 28:26
Speaker 1: remember I probably date myself here. But you used to
• 28:29
Speaker 1: have this commercial national commercial during NFL games. It was
• 28:32
Speaker 1: the new York Life commercial, and the defense would just
• 28:35
Speaker 1: like literally running to each other and fall down, and
• 28:38
Speaker 1: some like you know, some joker would end up scoring
• 28:40
Speaker 1: as a result. Right and they you know, they had
• 28:42
Speaker 1: like a different theme every week about it that looked
• 28:45
Speaker 1: like the Bengals at the end of the right there
• 28:49
Speaker 1: two Skafeties running into each other right there, they converged
• 28:52
Speaker 1: in Loveland makes the biggest plays made so far.
• 28:55
  Speaker 3: I mean, you couldn't.
• 28:56
Speaker 1: I mean I felt for Jamar Chase when they cut
• 28:58
Speaker 1: to them on the sideline, like, you know, did you.
• 29:01
Speaker 2: See him after the game ball when they was walking
• 29:04
Speaker 2: through the tunnel and they caught the hot mic caught
• 29:05
Speaker 2: him saying one bleeping stop? Yeah, yep, can you get
• 29:10
Speaker 2: one stop? I mean, goodness, gracious.
• 29:13
Speaker 1: But they've scored eighty points in these back to back
• 29:16
Speaker 1: games and lost both eighty points.
• 29:19
Speaker 2: That's hard to like this. What do you think Buck?
• 29:23
  Speaker 1: Look?
• 29:23
Speaker 4: Look, man, I think they should have known what it
• 29:25
Speaker 4: was going to be when they made the moves that
• 29:26
Speaker 4: they made, when they committed all the money to the offense.
• 29:28
Speaker 3: They lit it really good.
• 29:29
Speaker 4: I feel like I say this every week. They let
• 29:31
Speaker 4: lou Anamromo go. They blamed him for the defensive failings,
• 29:34
Speaker 4: but they never changed what they were doing. They're just
• 29:37
Speaker 4: not good enough on defense, and there's no way to masket.
• 29:40
Speaker 4: They can score a million points, but they go give
• 29:42
Speaker 4: up a million and one every week. They just can't
• 29:45
Speaker 4: slow people down. And it's hard to win with the
• 29:48
Speaker 4: team that is so one dimensional in terms of offense
• 29:51
Speaker 4: and defense. You just can't get it done. On the
• 29:53
Speaker 4: other side, I'll say get the bearss credit Katy Williams
• 29:57
Speaker 4: and those guys are continue to show growth.
• 29:59
Speaker 3: Ben Johnson being to switch things up to make sure
• 30:01
Speaker 3: that they are able to win games. Uh.
• 30:03
Speaker 4: And they're in the conversation, which is what they want
• 30:06
Speaker 4: to be when it comes to the NFC North. But man,
• 30:08
Speaker 4: if I'm a Bengals fan, I'm pissed off because this
• 30:11
Speaker 4: is a team on offense in particular that is playoff caliber.
• 30:14
Speaker 3: They just don't have a defense they can get them there.
• 30:19
Speaker 1: I'm curious, uh, DJ your notes on colinmanung Guy. I
• 30:23
Speaker 1: already know you're going because like, Okay, he goes, he
• 30:27
Speaker 1: goes for one hundred and ninety eight total yards. Right,
• 30:29
  Speaker 1: There's no DeAndre Swift, It's Kyle Manungay, and it's it's
• 30:34
Speaker 1: theo Benedett left tackle. It's Colston Lovelin at tight end.
• 30:38
Speaker 1: Cole comit got back, it's Ozzie Trapillo is the third
• 30:41
Speaker 1: tight end. We've seen all these thirteen tight end packages
• 30:44
Speaker 1: out there right now. And there's anung guy and you go,
• 30:47
  Speaker 1: what doesn't he have? Like I mean, I know it's
• 30:50
Speaker 1: the Bengals and you know they're just like sliced them
• 30:52
  Speaker 1: like turkey.
• 30:52
Speaker 3: But man, he was. He was impressive.
• 30:56
Speaker 2: So, Kyle manung guy, you want to know who, stylistically
• 30:59
Speaker 2: my competent and I'll get to my notes stylistically. So
• 31:02
Speaker 2: here's size. Yeah, he's five eight, So, Kyle manung guy
• 31:06
Speaker 2: is where did I go? I just lost him?
• 31:08
Speaker 3: Here? Did he leave the rushing two years in a row?
• 31:14
Speaker 2: Hold on? I just switched over to the twenty five?
• 31:16
Speaker 3: Shit? Here is okay?
• 31:17
Speaker 2: Here does he was? He was five eight two two eleven.
• 31:19
Speaker 2: He ran four six oh and Indy so he ran
• 31:22
Speaker 2: amongst the running backs in Indy. He ran the second slowest. No,
• 31:28
Speaker 2: so he had third slowest time, I believe.
• 31:31
  Speaker 1: No.
• 31:31
Speaker 2: You know what's funny, you know what's interesting. This is
• 31:33
Speaker 2: a great point here. So let me give you some
• 31:35
Speaker 2: of the slower running backs from Indy Oli Gordon so
• 31:39
Speaker 2: cam Skataboo ran four six five. Ok Oli Gordon ran
• 31:43
Speaker 2: for six one yep, and uh well yeah. Then there
• 31:48
Speaker 2: was one other guy from Markansas, Quentin Jackson. He ran
• 31:51
Speaker 2: four seven five, So that was a rough one. But
• 31:52
Speaker 2: then the other slowest Onenguy ran for six. Oh so
• 31:55
Speaker 2: three of the four slowest guys are you know, playing
• 31:59
Speaker 2: and yeah, making tracks happen, So throw throw the forties out.
• 32:02
Speaker 2: We've talked about that with running backs before. But he
• 32:04
Speaker 2: reminded me the way he held the ball and the
• 32:05
Speaker 2: way he ran. He ran me a tiki barber five eight,
• 32:09
Speaker 2: kind of compact guy, holds a ball high and tight.
• 32:12
Speaker 2: He let's see my notes on him here, no fumbles, Uh,
• 32:16
Speaker 2: he can press, bounce, holds the ball high and tight,
• 32:18
Speaker 2: reminding me of a little tiki barber. He runs with purpose.
• 32:22
Speaker 2: He's got kind of a unique style where his offhand
• 32:25
Speaker 2: like we used to talk, I remember what we used
• 32:27
Speaker 2: to call it, where he just swings his offhand. It's
• 32:29
Speaker 2: like a meat grinder like with his off He's got
• 32:31
Speaker 2: kind of a just a he's a very unique looking runner.
• 32:34
Speaker 2: But I just like the fact that he ran with purpose.
• 32:36
Speaker 2: Trust his trust, his eyes, trust his vision, hit it
• 32:39
Speaker 2: and go. But I went through and watched his explosives
• 32:42
  Speaker 2: in this game.
• 32:43
Speaker 3: And I'll tell you what.
• 32:44
Speaker 2: If you looked at explosives as a crime against the defense,
• 32:48
Speaker 2: I'll tell you right now, Darnell Right and Romadunzay are
• 32:51
Speaker 2: going to be character witnesses because they are at the
• 32:53
Speaker 2: scene of the crime every single time. Darnell Wright was
• 32:56
Speaker 2: mauling people at right tackle and Roma Dunze is blocking
• 33:00
Speaker 2: his tail off. And so there, what was the keys?
• 33:02
Speaker 1: I'll say this, Ben Johnson emptied the book. I mean
• 33:06
Speaker 1: you could draw I could draw up eight different runs.
• 33:08
Speaker 1: I don't care if it was pinning.
• 33:09
  Speaker 3: Pull, toss crack.
• 33:11
Speaker 1: I was watching Tuney on an inside trap like they
• 33:14
Speaker 1: ran every run probably in their playbook at at Cincinnati.
• 33:18
Speaker 3: But you know they ran the ball a lot though.
• 33:20
Speaker 2: So yeah, by the way, Baldy, is there anything better
• 33:23
Speaker 2: than just just toss crack? Is there anything better on planet?
• 33:27
Speaker 3: My favorite play in the NFL?
• 33:28
Speaker 1: Right, And if you get somebody that can pin it
• 33:30
Speaker 1: the way a doom is a good blocker at the
• 33:32
Speaker 1: point you need a guy that can that can handle
• 33:35
Speaker 1: that block. You get that, you get these guys. At
• 33:38
Speaker 1: one point it was like rookies on prey. It was
• 33:40
Speaker 1: Stil Benedict, it was Colston Lovelin. Here comes to anung
• 33:44
Speaker 1: guy and I'm like, man.
• 33:45
Speaker 3: That's dude. Good for your draft class. Right now.
• 33:49
Speaker 2: There's three plays, Bucky in this game. There's three plays
• 33:52
Speaker 2: where if if you squint and you see Darnel Wright
• 33:56
Speaker 2: get to the third level, he looks like Pina Sew
• 33:58
Speaker 2: like when he's he gets runs like that. Like I
• 34:01
Speaker 2: can see Ben Johnson kind of looking at some things
• 34:03
Speaker 2: going Okay, if I got a right tackle that can
• 34:05
Speaker 2: kind of move like that, I got some I got
• 34:07
Speaker 2: some things I can have some fun with here.
• 34:10
Speaker 4: Look, man, the offensive line has been the main thing
• 34:12
Speaker 4: when it came to the Bears, and some of that
• 34:14
Speaker 4: is a litt replace about bringing people in.
• 34:16
Speaker 3: Another part is is get the guys to play better.
• 34:18
Speaker 4: Donnill Wright is one of those guys when you talk
• 34:20
Speaker 4: about coming out of Tennessey, he'd had some nastiness to them.
• 34:22
Speaker 3: It was just a matter of directing it in the
• 34:24
  Speaker 3: right way.
• 34:25
Speaker 2: What I like, I feel like the light just came on,
• 34:27
Speaker 2: Like I just remember thinking, am I crazy?
• 34:29
  Speaker 3: Balldy?
• 34:29
Speaker 2: I just remember thinking like he was kind of fining
• 34:31
Speaker 2: his way and struggling.
• 34:32
Speaker 1: I watched this game year banged up a little bit,
• 34:34
Speaker 1: and then last year he was he was off.
• 34:36
Speaker 3: He was just off.
• 34:37
Speaker 1: But I feel like the way that they're getting trained
• 34:40
Speaker 1: right now, in the emphasis on the run and the
• 34:43
Speaker 1: toughness that they're displaying, like they can compete in this
• 34:46
  Speaker 1: division right now.
• 34:47
  Speaker 3: Now.
• 34:47
Speaker 1: Defensively, they like it wasn't good, you know, But I
• 34:51
Speaker 1: don't know, like why can't Why can't they go after
• 34:55
Speaker 1: it right now? The way that they're they can run
• 34:57
Speaker 1: the ball, They've done it with swift, without swift, they're
• 35:00
Speaker 1: doing it with three tight ends, two tight ends, extra tackles, rookies.
• 35:03
  Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know.
• 35:05
Speaker 1: It's a pretty good look at coaching job right now.
• 35:07
Speaker 1: Penalties are way down offensively, Buck.
• 35:09
Speaker 2: When you were with teams, when you had a coach
• 35:11
Speaker 2: come in that had been elsewhere, did you ever have
• 35:13
Speaker 2: guys that were showing you tape from the old place
• 35:16
Speaker 2: and saying like, hey, you with your skill set, like
• 35:18
Speaker 2: this is you like you can.
• 35:19
Speaker 3: Do what we did with this player?
• 35:21
Speaker 4: Yeah, Because they're trying to get you to picture yourself
• 35:24
Speaker 4: in their thing, and so they'll show you someone who
• 35:25
Speaker 4: they believe has a similar skill set and they hey,
• 35:28
Speaker 4: if you just do this, this is how we could
• 35:30
Speaker 4: feature you in this system. And there has to be
• 35:34
Speaker 4: some carryover because one the Chicago players saw what Detroit
• 35:38
Speaker 4: looked like when they were getting molly wopped by them.
• 35:41
Speaker 4: They understood what Detroit came with. So when Ben Johnson
• 35:44
Speaker 4: comes over and talks about, hey, we can do this
• 35:46
Speaker 4: same kind of transformation here, they believe it. And being
• 35:51
Speaker 4: able to talk about that crossover dniel Wright and Pinney
• 35:54
Speaker 4: sewel and look at this and look at that, and
• 35:56
Speaker 4: you have similar traits and let's get some of this done. Yeah,
• 36:00
Speaker 4: I believe It's believable. It's part of the sale job
• 36:02
Speaker 4: that every head coach has to do with this team.
• 36:05
Speaker 1: And you know, to that point, Bucket, it's a great
• 36:07
Speaker 1: point because you're watching, like you thinking about aman Ros
• 36:11
Speaker 1: Saint Brown and Detroit and how he blocks, how he's
• 36:14
Speaker 1: a part of it, you know, and you're looking at
• 36:16
Speaker 1: a Doonsa, You're looking at Zequias like these guys, it
• 36:19
Speaker 1: looks like they want to go block. They want to
• 36:21
Speaker 1: go get a piece of somebody. And it's not like
• 36:23
Speaker 1: they're just sealing somebody in the outside, like they're digging
• 36:26
Speaker 1: guys out on these fold blocks coming up and you know,
• 36:29
  Speaker 1: taking on safeties and stuff like. It's it's it's it's
• 36:32
Speaker 1: all inclusive when it comes to that.
• 36:35
Speaker 2: It's a freaky Friday vibe to it. Man and the
• 36:39
Speaker 2: like switching places because I'm watching Colson Loveland and watched
• 36:41
Speaker 2: all his targets and I'm like, well, this looks Samula
• 36:43
Speaker 2: Porta the way he's stretching the field and hitting seams
• 36:46
Speaker 2: and bouncing off guys and run away from everybody. I'm like, well, yeah,
• 36:49
Speaker 2: they've got the blueprint, like they've already had this type
• 36:51
Speaker 2: of player. So that's why they're finally starting to unleash
• 36:54
Speaker 2: him a little bit. And he's making some plays where
• 36:55
Speaker 2: you can win quick in the flat or you can
• 36:58
Speaker 2: wait and Caleb Caleb, there was and I know there's
• 37:01
Speaker 2: every week we can do this with Kayla, but every
• 37:03
Speaker 2: week there's a couple of gosh, you'd like to have
• 37:05
Speaker 2: that throwback or this throwback look at the end of
• 37:07
Speaker 2: the game when they need to make a big throw.
• 37:10
Speaker 2: That was a freaking steed that he threw on that touchdown.
• 37:13
Speaker 2: I mean that thing was a missile.
• 37:16
  Speaker 3: Show.
• 37:16
  Speaker 2: Yeah, it's there. It's it's all in there, and I
• 37:18
Speaker 2: think you could be excited by watching him what he's
• 37:21
Speaker 2: done there. Let's get one more game and then we'll
• 37:22
Speaker 2: let Baldi get running here, Baldy Carolina, Green Bay. I'd
• 37:26
Speaker 2: say the most shocking game to me for the weekend.
• 37:29
Speaker 1: Well, my favorite, my favorite thing to do every week
• 37:34
Speaker 1: here in the film rooms, watch Derek Brown just take
• 37:37
Speaker 1: grown men and just throw them like he's taking Sean
• 37:40
Speaker 1: Ryan and he's taking these offensive linemen from the from
• 37:43
Speaker 1: the Packers and he's literally just tossed him. The first
• 37:45
Speaker 1: play of the game, he makes a play. He rushed
• 37:48
Speaker 1: to the pass where he beats a double team. He
• 37:50
Speaker 1: doubles back and he makes a play on the other
• 37:52
Speaker 1: side of the field like he's the first one to
• 37:54
Speaker 1: the ball. But I would say, if you're looking at
• 38:00
Speaker 1: what they're doing now, they actually have Rose Boom had
• 38:03
Speaker 1: an unbelievable game. Fifteen tackles to the front. Skirton right
• 38:06
Speaker 1: now and the whole group Wharton like they are physical
• 38:10
Speaker 1: at the point they like they got after Jordan Love.
• 38:13
Speaker 1: There was a reason why they had six points on
• 38:15
Speaker 1: the board. They stopped them on fourth down, They stopped
• 38:18
Speaker 1: the big play they busted. You know, Christian watched it
• 38:21
Speaker 1: over the middle a couple of times, like it didn't
• 38:23
Speaker 1: look like you wanted to get up, Like they looked
• 38:25
Speaker 1: like a completely different defense than what we saw like
• 38:28
Speaker 1: the week before or some other games. But like they
• 38:31
Speaker 1: looked well coached to me on defense right now. That
• 38:34
Speaker 1: was the difference of the game.
• 38:36
  Speaker 3: No doubt.
• 38:37
Speaker 2: I watched Rose Boom stuffcause when I see somebody that's
• 38:40
Speaker 2: fifteen tackles, I'm like, okay, let me see what he's
• 38:42
Speaker 2: got going on. Just really good instincts. Man, Like, you
• 38:45
Speaker 2: don't get that type of production unless your eyes work
• 38:47
Speaker 2: really really well. I didn't think there was anything where,
• 38:50
Speaker 2: you know, they were physical upfront. I didn't think he
• 38:52
Speaker 2: was overwhelming anybody physically, like just coming down and thumping
• 38:55
Speaker 2: off guys. But if you can sift and sort and
• 38:58
Speaker 2: you can beat guys the spots, you can a lot
• 39:00
Speaker 2: of production. And he did it in this game. And
• 39:03
Speaker 2: then the other thing that stood out when Dabble goes
• 39:04
Speaker 2: twenty five a buck thirty. I went through and watched
• 39:07
Speaker 2: all his runs, and this offenseive line is built to
• 39:10
Speaker 2: run and people are gonna say, oh, you know, Bryce
• 39:12
Speaker 2: is only thrown for one hundred yards or what have you. Like,
• 39:14
Speaker 2: This is the formula every team buck. We talk about
• 39:17
Speaker 2: this all the time. Every team has their own formula
• 39:19
Speaker 2: win games. It's different for everybody. This is their formula.
• 39:21
Speaker 2: It's not them chucking the ball over the place. It's
• 39:23
Speaker 2: them with an offensive line built to run, block in
• 39:26
Speaker 2: a good back and Tremble blocks his tail off at
• 39:30
Speaker 2: tight end. He is a physical, physical kid. Lewis has
• 39:33
Speaker 2: turning and he's an excellent run blocker. Ikwanu's much better
• 39:37
Speaker 2: in the run game than he is in the past game.
• 39:39
Speaker 2: He's moving people. I had to look up a couple
• 39:41
Speaker 2: of numbers because I didn't realize that Corbett was playing
• 39:43
Speaker 2: center for him. He did a nice job getting up
• 39:45
Speaker 2: to the second level. And Yosh Nijmann. Am I saying that?
• 39:49
Speaker 2: Am I saying that?
• 39:50
  Speaker 3: Right? He was?
• 39:50
Speaker 2: He played well right tackle in the run game? But
• 39:53
Speaker 2: they they I mean that was a cause of concern
• 39:55
Speaker 2: for me. If I'm a fan of Green Bay and
• 39:58
Speaker 2: I'm watching this game, and I'm going like, tell you
• 40:00
Speaker 2: what man to get out of the NFC, Whereas in
• 40:03
Speaker 2: the a f C, it was like you got to
• 40:04
Speaker 2: run the quarterback in the NFC, like you're gonna get
• 40:07
Speaker 2: punched in the face every round in the playoffs, like
• 40:09
Speaker 2: you better be physical enough to handle it. And this
• 40:12
Speaker 2: is watching this game, I was like, oh no, man,
• 40:14
Speaker 2: that gave me a little concern for green Bay.
• 40:16
  Speaker 3: Buck.
• 40:17
Speaker 4: Yeah, so he My frustration with Green Bay stands not
• 40:20
Speaker 4: only from the team being inconsistent playing up or down
• 40:23
Speaker 4: two levels of competition, but also like Jordan Love and
• 40:26
Speaker 4: some of the decisions that he makes put the ball,
• 40:28
Speaker 4: particularly in the day interception that he threw is ridiculous
• 40:30
  Speaker 4: like that.
• 40:31
  Speaker 3: I mean, like I don't know what we're doing.
• 40:33
Speaker 1: Like just those things was hitting them in the mouth
• 40:36
Speaker 1: when he went through that ball, you know, to get rid.
• 40:40
  Speaker 3: Of the rock.
• 40:41
Speaker 1: But I just like he should have throw another one
• 40:44
Speaker 1: to Michael Jackson. The endine he dropped. He was all
• 40:45
Speaker 1: by himself. He was a horrible throat, just scrambling, you know.
• 40:48
Speaker 4: Yeah. And so the Packers are a title team on paper,
• 40:55
Speaker 4: but I don't know if they have the maturity and
• 40:58
Speaker 4: to know how to be able to get it because
• 41:00
Speaker 4: these games, the games against the Browns, like you can't
• 41:03
Speaker 4: lose these games if you're a title team, because one
• 41:06
Speaker 4: title teams take care of business, stay secure. That they're
• 41:08
Speaker 4: going to play all the games at their home field,
• 41:11
Speaker 4: and the Packers are letting these games slips. Credit to
• 41:14
Speaker 4: the Panthers, but this shouldn't be a game where when
• 41:17
Speaker 4: you're a thirteen point favorite, that you allow a team
• 41:19
Speaker 4: to knock you up.
• 41:20
  Speaker 1: I don't know if you watch this, I didn't see
• 41:23
Speaker 1: any contributes from Matthew Campbell in this game.
• 41:25
Speaker 2: DJ. I just see like like he was any kind
• 41:28
Speaker 2: of a factor. I didn't watch them on that side, Okay.
• 41:31
Speaker 2: I watched their defense look like they were going to
• 41:33
Speaker 2: look like they were a middleweight that showed up to
• 41:35
Speaker 2: a heavyweight fight and got surprised. I mean they just
• 41:38
Speaker 2: moving them. They were moving them at the line of scrimmage.
• 41:41
  Speaker 3: So yeah, but.
• 41:42
Speaker 2: Matthew Gold, I mean he was my top receiver. I
• 41:44
Speaker 2: was excited to see how, you know, they were going
• 41:46
Speaker 2: to use him and what they were going to do
• 41:47
Speaker 2: with him. That could be a project for me this week.
• 41:48
Speaker 2: Maybe I'll pop that in and see what he looks like.
• 41:51
Speaker 2: But hey, hats off to Carolina maybe the most surprising
• 41:53
Speaker 2: team before that. They said there was a meme going
• 41:57
Speaker 2: around with them, and did you see that one buck?
• 42:00
Speaker 2: There was a funny thing on social media. That was
• 42:02
Speaker 2: a picture of Tiger Woods and John Daily and it
• 42:05
Speaker 2: had under under Tiger Woods, it had the Chiefs five
• 42:08
Speaker 2: and four and John Daily it had the Panthers five
• 42:11
Speaker 2: and four. But hey, we're both golfers, man, we're the same,
• 42:15
Speaker 2: just us. It might look a little different, it might
• 42:17
Speaker 2: look a little different, but we go, same guy, same guy.
• 42:22
Speaker 2: All right, Hey, this has been fun, Baldi. Enjoy each
• 42:24
Speaker 2: and every week. Man, We see you next time. Appreciate you,
• 42:28
Speaker 2: all right, buck there he goes. Always fun to have
• 42:31
Speaker 2: Baldi on the show. As we ripped through these games,
• 42:33
Speaker 2: we'll we'll catch up on the rest of these other
• 42:36
Speaker 2: games in the next episode. And uh, and keep this
• 42:39
Speaker 2: week rolling as we are headed into gosh, we are
• 42:41
Speaker 2: in week ten of the NFL season. How the heck
• 42:44
Speaker 2: did that get here so fast? And hey, it's been
• 42:46
Speaker 2: five minutes so another I'm sure another college coach has
• 42:48
Speaker 2: been fired. Well again, Holy Holy. We'll touch on that
• 42:53
Speaker 2: next time right here on movie sticks,
