- 0:44Speaker 1: Thanks for joining us here on the zone. Scott clendenon
- 0:48Speaker 1: that's here. What kind of game are you expecting on
- 0:51Speaker 1: on Saturday morning?
- 0:54Speaker 5: UH? I expect. I expect Miami the way they've been
- 1:01Speaker 5: playing at the end of the season when their playoffs
- 1:06Speaker 5: basically started after their second loss to UH to come
- 1:11Speaker 5: in and play a inspired first half. I think that
- 1:19Speaker 5: you know their ability to get after the quarterback matched
- 1:23Speaker 5: up against the A and M offensive line will tell
- 1:25Speaker 5: the tale. I think that you know the it. You've
- 1:30Speaker 5: got to look at what the strength of A and
- 1:32Speaker 5: M is in the offensive line and Bolton board notwithstanding,
- 1:40Speaker 5: I think that what A and M does in slowing
- 1:43Speaker 5: down that defensive front is going to have Marcel Reid
- 1:47Speaker 5: in a position where he'll be able to deliver the
- 1:49Speaker 5: ball with the running backs, whoever of the five of
- 1:51Speaker 5: them are. That's That's what I'm gonna look at to
- 1:55Speaker 5: start with. And then does the coach of Miami turned
- 2:01Speaker 5: back into the coach of Miami at some point in
- 2:02Speaker 5: time during the ballgame, Well.
- 2:04Speaker 1: That's what you're hoping. You're hoping that that game comes
- 2:06Speaker 1: down to a coaching decision because he hasn't been very
- 2:11Speaker 1: good at that.
- 2:12Speaker 5: Yes, I think there's going to be offense. I think
- 2:16Speaker 5: both these teams scoring. What's the over under?
- 2:20Speaker 1: Let me see here, I haven't seen the over under Miami.
- 2:29Speaker 5: Let's see here. What the over under is? Uh, forty
- 2:32Speaker 5: nine and a half to fifty one and a half.
- 2:34Speaker 5: It's kind of low. Twenty eight to twenty three, twenty eight,
- 2:42Speaker 5: twenty four covers that I think that's a little low.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I had twenty four to twenty.
- 2:50Speaker 5: Okay, well.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I'd bet the under.
- 2:54Speaker 5: I'd go the over, okay at forty nine and a half. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:58Speaker 5: fifty one and a half, you know, Okay, But I
- 3:02Speaker 5: just I think that A and M has an advantage
- 3:05Speaker 5: coaching wise.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I don't think there's any doubt that A and M
- 3:09Speaker 1: has an advantage coaching wise.
- 3:11Speaker 6: I like that.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I think I think the biggest advantage they have is
- 3:16Speaker 1: in the stands. You know, that's a you can't you know,
- 3:23Speaker 1: the writers have been talking for about ten years is like,
- 3:26Speaker 1: until you take back cal Field, you're not going to
- 3:29Speaker 1: win anything, right. They've lost way too many games at
- 3:32Speaker 1: cal Field, and they didn't do that this year, right, Right,
- 3:36Speaker 1: they didn't do it. They did what they were supposed
- 3:39Speaker 1: to do. They defended cal Field.
- 3:41Speaker 7: Right.
- 3:42Speaker 1: You can talk about, you know, the caliber competition or
- 3:46Speaker 1: whatever you want to talk about, but you could have
- 3:48Speaker 1: been talking about that the last ten years as well
- 3:50Speaker 1: in games that they've lost in cal Field. So you
- 3:52Speaker 1: got to defend the home home field. The home field
- 3:55Speaker 1: has been great this year, and I think it'll be
- 4:01Speaker 1: a big difference on on Saturday, I do, and I
- 4:05Speaker 1: think it's going to be close. You don't want to
- 4:08Speaker 1: coming down to a forty something yard field goal at
- 4:11Speaker 1: the end of the game. But I think I think
- 4:12Speaker 1: it's going to be a close game because I just
- 4:15Speaker 1: I think these two teams are just on paper, again,
- 4:18Speaker 1: on paper, they are so evenly matched. Right, Yes, just.
- 4:23Speaker 5: Did you did you matched? Did you did? A and
- 4:29Speaker 5: m get the benefit of playing in the SEC against
- 4:34Speaker 5: all those talented.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Well, I think the caliber of teams that that that
- 4:40Speaker 1: Miami played, I'm not sure aside from Notre Dame when
- 4:45Speaker 1: that was the first game, right, Uh, they haven't seen
- 4:48Speaker 1: any any team that that is that talented.
- 4:52Speaker 5: Right, That's what I'm saying. So when you go up
- 4:54Speaker 5: against this Miami team that has NFL guys at these positions,
- 4:59Speaker 5: are you like, Okay, well we haven't We've seen NFL
- 5:03Speaker 5: guys all the time.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know about that. And the other thing
- 5:07Speaker 1: I don't know is either is how do both of
- 5:10Speaker 1: these teams react. That's why I think the home is
- 5:13Speaker 1: so important for it because they haven't been here. Both
- 5:16Speaker 1: these teams are in chartered uncharted territory, right, I mean,
- 5:20Speaker 1: this is this is different. Okay, this isn't the Reliacaless Bowl.
- 5:25Speaker 1: This is different okay, And how are both of these
- 5:29Speaker 1: teams going to react to that?
- 5:31Speaker 7: Right?
- 5:32Speaker 1: And I think that's a big deal.
- 5:33Speaker 5: Well, I'm gonna have Hunter Goodwin on pregame show on
- 5:36Speaker 5: Saturday because he played in playoffs every year who was
- 5:40Speaker 5: in the NFL, And that's what this is. Yeah, Okay,
- 5:45Speaker 5: when you're sixteen and you're in a high school playoffs,
- 5:47Speaker 5: you just had to pick some playoff games, you're at
- 5:49Speaker 5: state and all that kind of stuff. You're not thinking
- 5:51Speaker 5: about this being the end of anything. Even when you're
- 5:54Speaker 5: in a you lose in the second round, you weren't thinking.
- 5:57Speaker 5: You know, it's not the same. It's not the same
- 5:59Speaker 5: of being in the NFL playoffs where you know it's winning. Go,
- 6:03Speaker 5: you're done. Okay. Even if you've been in a in
- 6:07Speaker 5: a you know, in a conference championship game, all right,
- 6:11Speaker 5: you know you're playing after that. This is the tournament.
- 6:15Speaker 5: You've not played in the tournament. How do you get
- 6:19Speaker 5: focused in on this is now? Everything has to be now.
- 6:25Speaker 5: We don't get tomorrow y.
- 6:26Speaker 1: It's different. It's different, you know, I think the pressure
- 6:30Speaker 1: is different, right.
- 6:32Speaker 5: And you know, there's that's something that I want to
- 6:36Speaker 5: talk with Hunter about because you know, when you play.
- 6:39Speaker 5: That's what the NFL playoffs is. You get a bunch
- 6:42Speaker 5: of evenly matched teams. Okay, and how do you play
- 6:46Speaker 5: your best football that day, that three and a half hours?
- 6:51Speaker 5: How do you play your best football? And you're right,
- 6:55Speaker 5: Georgia has an advantage at that Ohio State has an advantage,
- 6:58Speaker 5: no question.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Okay, Indiana does not, although although they played a huge game,
- 7:03Speaker 1: right that that game may may may may or may
- 7:06Speaker 1: not have have prepared them. But but that was a
- 7:08Speaker 1: huge game, right, And right, Texas has none of that experience.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Oregon does, right, Alabama Alabama obviously does, Oklahoma does not.
- 7:19Speaker 5: Right, So you've got half the field that doesn't and
- 7:22Speaker 5: half the field that does. And how do you convey that?
- 7:26Speaker 5: And look which coaches have done this before? Yes, Okay,
- 7:31Speaker 5: they've got the experience.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Of doing that, there's no doubt.
- 7:35Speaker 5: So I mean that you know that is gonna that
- 7:38Speaker 5: is gonna be a big deal. I think it is
- 7:40Speaker 5: on how you play a playoff game.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Yes, because we see in the crucible of pressure in
- 7:48Speaker 1: the regular season and we've just talked about the Miami
- 7:51Speaker 1: coach coaches who make really stupid decisions at that time, right,
- 7:55Speaker 1: they're not terrible coaches, but they just they're under pressure
- 7:58Speaker 1: and they make a bad choice, right, and.
- 8:00Speaker 5: Do it over and over again.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Well you lose, you.
- 8:03Speaker 5: Get there, and and I and I think.
- 8:05Speaker 1: And you and you and you get the reputation, yes, right,
- 8:08Speaker 1: and Crystal Ball is gonna have to do something special
- 8:10Speaker 1: to undo that reputation right now. Right, he's have to
- 8:14Speaker 1: win some games, right, yes, uh, and and not do
- 8:17Speaker 1: stupid things. But can he do that? I don't know, right,
- 8:22Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 8:22Speaker 5: And and another thing that that I've seen some people
- 8:25Speaker 5: pick this game as well, Miami's not losing any coaches,
- 8:29Speaker 5: and a M's got these coaches that are.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Going off to other places.
- 8:32Speaker 2: You know.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Again, I don't know how that's going to affect everybody.
- 8:36Speaker 1: I really don't. I mean, there's you have to ask
- 8:39Speaker 1: the question. But as as Elko has said, look, I
- 8:43Speaker 1: trust these guys character, right, that they're all in and
- 8:46Speaker 1: I believe that, right. I believe that he's defense. Yes,
- 8:50Speaker 1: and and and there's so there's no real there there's
- 8:53Speaker 1: no change Saturday, no for what this team has done
- 8:56Speaker 1: all year long. Right, there's there's no change.
- 8:59Speaker 5: I think that's an easy out for some people to say, Well,
- 9:02Speaker 5: all of these teams that are will know if you
- 9:05Speaker 5: have coaches that have left and not going to be there.
- 9:07Speaker 5: We're not talking about old miss Their play caller is gone.
- 9:11Speaker 1: No, he's back.
- 9:12Speaker 5: He was not calling the playoff, I know.
- 9:14Speaker 1: But the systems system is there.
- 9:17Speaker 5: Okay, they got the coaches back that they can run
- 9:19Speaker 5: some of the system, but the play caller is not there. Yeah,
- 9:21Speaker 5: that's an interesting game to be and it's going to
- 9:24Speaker 5: have their play caller. Yes, No, it is an interesting game.
- 9:28Speaker 5: They It might it might have suited Mississippi well that
- 9:34Speaker 5: Kiffin left. If Tulane shows up and plays a lot
- 9:39Speaker 5: better than they did, they.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Just don't have it. They just don't have the athletes.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I don't mean they can't win right right, But I
- 9:45Speaker 1: don't like the rematches. I never like rematches. That's why
- 9:49Speaker 1: Oklahoma and Alabama intrigues me. You know, as as a
- 9:52Speaker 1: rematch game, and you know, I think that one is
- 9:58Speaker 1: is going to be close to I really that one's
- 10:00Speaker 1: going to be close.
- 10:02Speaker 5: Yeah, And I think that I just I think that
- 10:08Speaker 5: it that you had if Mississippi wasn't as motivated as
- 10:16Speaker 5: they are after being hurt the way they did with
- 10:18Speaker 5: their coach leading. I think that lead that would have
- 10:22Speaker 5: helped to Lane. I don't. I think this is back
- 10:25Speaker 5: to ground zero because now Ole Miss isn't walking around
- 10:30Speaker 5: the whole week talking about who we're playing in week two.
- 10:33Speaker 5: That was what Ole Miss was going to do before this. Yeah,
- 10:37Speaker 5: and they would not have been focused on it. I
- 10:39Speaker 5: think they're going to be focused on it.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know, it'll be It'll be interesting to see.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I think I think they have so much more talent, yes,
- 10:47Speaker 1: you know, than than to Lane does. Now the following week,
- 10:53Speaker 1: that's a whole another issue, right if they get it.
- 10:56Speaker 1: If Ole Miss wins and has to play Georgia in
- 10:58Speaker 1: the Sugar Bowl, that's a whole other deal, right, I
- 11:01Speaker 1: mean it's all over.
- 11:02Speaker 5: I think all the Georgia coaches will be there.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they will too, And I think they'll
- 11:07Speaker 1: show up in an ugly mood.
- 11:09Speaker 5: Yes, But okay, we've been here, We've been in a
- 11:14Speaker 5: very similar situationship, all right, Aggie basketball had an opportunity
- 11:18Speaker 5: to win and go play in San Antonio, yes four, Yes,
- 11:22Speaker 5: opportunity to win and go play in Houston in the
- 11:24Speaker 5: final four yep, and it didn't happen.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Yep.
- 11:27Speaker 5: Okay, what were we what it was like? Well, what
- 11:31Speaker 5: would happen if you had this situation? Go, well, you're
- 11:35Speaker 5: starting at home and you get to go to Dallas. Okay,
- 11:40Speaker 5: I would much rather play Ohio State in Dallas, no
- 11:43Speaker 5: doubt than whomever in Miami's nobody there.
- 11:49Speaker 1: First of all, yes, Second of all, well, I think
- 11:54Speaker 1: I'm a wait on Oahio State till next week. We'll
- 11:56Speaker 1: see if what I have it next week. Oh that's right,
- 11:58Speaker 1: we don't, so we have to talk about it now,
- 12:00Speaker 1: talk about it now? Yeah, right, we do. So here's
- 12:03Speaker 1: my thing on Ohio State. I think this is the
- 12:04Speaker 1: third year in the road. They'll be playing in the
- 12:06Speaker 1: Cotton Bowl, right, it's their home away from home. I've
- 12:09Speaker 1: said this before, I'll say it again. I know Aggie fans,
- 12:12Speaker 1: and they will they will have an advantage from the crowd, yes,
- 12:19Speaker 1: but they're not going to have the kind of advantage
- 12:21Speaker 1: some people think they're going to have from the crowd.
- 12:23Speaker 5: So I'm going to ask you, so you're thinking that
- 12:25Speaker 5: Ohio State is going to have that they're not waiting
- 12:29Speaker 5: for the similar No, I don't think they are. Okay,
- 12:32Speaker 5: even though they are, I don't.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Think you can take that way, and I don't think
- 12:36Speaker 1: they are. I think that crowd is traveling with even
- 12:40Speaker 1: though you'd say what you want.
- 12:41Speaker 5: Well, no, I thought until a week ago they were
- 12:44Speaker 5: going the Rose Bowl. I think it's a little bit
- 12:47Speaker 5: different this year because they were never going to the
- 12:50Speaker 5: Rose Bowl last season.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Yeah, look, there may be some complacency. I wouldn't argue
- 12:56Speaker 1: that right from the fan base. Yes, I wouldn't argue
- 13:00Speaker 1: that I'd rather play them. I would rather play I'm
- 13:03Speaker 1: not disagreeing with you. Absolutely you want to play in Dallas, right, Yes,
- 13:06Speaker 1: if you have to play, you.
- 13:09Speaker 5: Don't want to play that an empty stadium in Miami
- 13:11Speaker 5: or neither team would have had no it sold out
- 13:13Speaker 5: the game in Miami.
- 13:15Speaker 1: I'm not sure about that. But but if you have
- 13:18Speaker 1: to play ah of State, absolutely you want to play
- 13:20Speaker 1: in the Cotton Bowl, right, I mean no, no, no
- 13:22Speaker 1: doubt about that. Yes, So, I mean yeah, so it's.
- 13:25Speaker 5: There, it's there, set up, and and if you advance on,
- 13:29Speaker 5: you're gonna play teams and maybe you're already playing a
- 13:32Speaker 5: team that can go win a national championship in Miami.
- 13:35Speaker 5: I don't think that's the case. But after this, every
- 13:38Speaker 5: team you would play would be fifty to fifty on
- 13:42Speaker 5: winning a national championship, every team the rest of the
- 13:44Speaker 5: way out. This is not This is not last year's
- 13:48Speaker 5: bracket with the with the with the champions in the
- 13:52Speaker 5: wrong spot automatically.
- 13:54Speaker 1: No, this is not. No.
- 13:56Speaker 5: Okay, and okay, when the Houston Astros beat Boston, New
- 14:02Speaker 5: York and LA to win World champions were in trash cans,
- 14:07Speaker 5: they sure were. No one had ever done that because
- 14:10Speaker 5: the format wasn't that way. Okay, no one has done
- 14:14Speaker 5: it since then, to beat those traditional things, to go
- 14:18Speaker 5: through the best teams there. If you do that, you've
- 14:22Speaker 5: earned it.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Yeah, who whoever wins is gonna earn it. I mean
- 14:27Speaker 1: when you look not only that, you just you just
- 14:30Speaker 1: look at how close all year long the games have
- 14:34Speaker 1: been right in every league and every it doesn't matter,
- 14:37Speaker 1: the games have been close. They've been competitive. Right now.
- 14:41Speaker 1: We had blowouts last year, and as you mentioned, some
- 14:44Speaker 1: of it had to do a seeding. There may be
- 14:47Speaker 1: some blowouts this year because you don't know what games
- 14:50Speaker 1: like this, right, You just you don't know how these
- 14:52Speaker 1: games are gonna go.
- 14:53Speaker 5: You don't know how the long the break is going
- 14:54Speaker 5: to affect those other teams which last year it claimed them.
- 14:58Speaker 5: But last year you said, well, because you weren't good
- 15:00Speaker 5: enough anyway, you shouldn't have been there. Yeah, but there
- 15:03Speaker 5: was some there was some ross to be shaken off.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, there was because the top four are having
- 15:13Speaker 1: a long layoff, right, they're having a lengthy layoff, because.
- 15:17Speaker 5: You and I have seen the better team not handle
- 15:20Speaker 5: a layoff for.
- 15:22Speaker 1: You know, yeah, you see it in professional football right
- 15:24Speaker 1: all the time with that two week super Bowl thing, right, Yes,
- 15:28Speaker 1: and they've talked about that forever, which is weird. But
- 15:30Speaker 1: athletes they're on a clock, right, they are on a clock.
- 15:35Speaker 1: I was interested in listening to Krystobal did they talk
- 15:38Speaker 1: about that going, Look, we've had two game weeks. In
- 15:42Speaker 1: other words, that's how we practiced. We came out and
- 15:45Speaker 1: practiced that first Saturday, right, and we have we have
- 15:50Speaker 1: been intentional about that. Every coach is going to go
- 15:53Speaker 1: about it differently, right, and some of them will be
- 15:56Speaker 1: right on how they go about it, some of them
- 15:59Speaker 1: will be and how they go about it. And we've
- 16:01Speaker 1: already talked about experience. You know, I think that you know,
- 16:05Speaker 1: Georgia o'house state Oregon, Alabama, I think that's huge, right,
- 16:11Speaker 1: because those guys have been through all of that, right
- 16:14Speaker 1: they they've been through.
- 16:16Speaker 5: Oregon hasn't won.
- 16:18Speaker 1: No, I know that. But they've been there, yes, right,
- 16:21Speaker 1: but they haven't won.
- 16:23Speaker 5: But does the Oregon coaches he's still tinkering. This is
- 16:26Speaker 5: not work the times I've done it. Do I have
- 16:28Speaker 5: to do something different?
- 16:29Speaker 1: Have I the other end of the spectrum? Right?
- 16:31Speaker 5: Yes, that is the other end of the spectrum debor
- 16:35Speaker 5: you know, Okay, hey it worked and then but I
- 16:38Speaker 5: still didn't win the whole thing? How do I have
- 16:41Speaker 5: to adjust out of this? It's you know, if you're
- 16:44Speaker 5: not Kirby and you're not Ryan Day, you're looking at
- 16:48Speaker 5: what have I done? How do I make it work?
- 16:50Speaker 5: You got two guys that have that have made the
- 16:53Speaker 5: run to win the title, and but then you have
- 16:57Speaker 5: various levels of experience after that. And I just think
- 16:59Speaker 5: that's going to be really, really interesting and for me
- 17:03Speaker 5: to watch that part of the.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Game, no doubt, it's interesting for me to to to
- 17:07Speaker 1: watch Indiana. Right, they're in way uncharted territory. Despite all
- 17:11Speaker 1: the games they've won, they're in uncharted territory.
- 17:14Speaker 5: Now they are hunted.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Yeah, they're they're the hunted, right, yes, and and uh
- 17:19Speaker 1: they have the Heisman quarterback. They're they're really really good. Uh,
- 17:24Speaker 1: they're going to be in the Rose Bowl. That's going
- 17:26Speaker 1: to be an overwhelming deal, right, first time thing, and
- 17:31Speaker 1: they're gonna be.
- 17:31Speaker 5: They Wait, they haven't been in the Rose Bowl in
- 17:33Speaker 5: my lifetime.
- 17:34Speaker 1: No, No, I'm just saying for them. No, they're going
- 17:37Speaker 1: to be in the Rose Bowl.
- 17:38Speaker 5: I'm just saying chip, they haven't been in the Rose
- 17:40Speaker 5: Bowl in my life.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I think that's true, right, Yeah, I was born.
- 17:43Speaker 5: Four months after the last time they played it.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Uh for Alabama, they were there a year ago right
- 17:49Speaker 1: now they lost, but or two years ago, whatever it was,
- 17:51Speaker 1: But that fits Alabama. Yeah, but they were there. But
- 17:53Speaker 1: it's yeah, if it's Alabama, right, Uh, if it's Alabama.
- 17:57Speaker 5: And Alabama has to be much better than they have been.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Oh, there's no doubt about that.
- 18:02Speaker 5: I don't know why. I don't know.
- 18:03Speaker 1: I have flipped a coin on you.
- 18:05Speaker 5: Know why Alabama is a playoff team.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Hey, that's a whole nother story speaking of.
- 18:11Speaker 5: Okay, lots of talk. Okay, all right, okay, well, hey
- 18:16Speaker 5: we're the ACC and going forward, we have to use
- 18:18Speaker 5: the College Football Playoff rankings to determine who our champion is. Okay,
- 18:23Speaker 5: if you're in the ACC and the college football playoff
- 18:27Speaker 5: rankings three years ago took Florida State out of the rankings,
- 18:31Speaker 5: took them out of the of the playoffs. Why do
- 18:34Speaker 5: you look at that and say, all right, so now
- 18:37Speaker 5: I'm gonna determ let these guys and determine who our
- 18:40Speaker 5: best teams are.
- 18:41Speaker 8: In our league.
- 18:42Speaker 5: The SEC doesn't like. The coaches in the SEC don't
- 18:46Speaker 5: like how they're ranking the teams. Do you think the
- 18:48Speaker 5: SEC wants somebody outside to determine You want somebody from
- 18:54Speaker 5: the Big ten and the Pac two to determine what
- 18:58Speaker 5: the rankings are the s for the tournament, I mean
- 19:02Speaker 5: for the for the conference championship game. I mean that
- 19:07Speaker 5: I just don't know where that's going. If if you're
- 19:10Speaker 5: going to have an outside body till Duke, Hey, sorry,
- 19:15Speaker 5: you're not good enough. We're gonna put Miami up. All right, Well,
- 19:18Speaker 5: why didn't he have Miami up favorite? Well we thought
- 19:20Speaker 5: they weren't as good as BYU and Notre Dame until
- 19:23Speaker 5: this week. I mean, there's a that's when when that
- 19:27Speaker 5: is the tournament?
- 19:28Speaker 1: There's not there's not a perfect system for sure. No,
- 19:32Speaker 1: I don't know that any of the conferences. Like I said,
- 19:35Speaker 1: how do you trust?
- 19:36Speaker 5: How does the Big Twelve trust the conference committee? Yeah,
- 19:41Speaker 5: you moved b YU, who's only lost two twice to
- 19:44Speaker 5: our best team? Yeah, how do how do we look
- 19:49Speaker 5: at it? I mean because they were there was a
- 19:51Speaker 5: possibility that Texas Tech wasn't going to be in the
- 19:53Speaker 5: in the Big Twelve championship game Averrizona Arizona stated one,
- 19:58Speaker 5: it could have ended up that Arizona State and b
- 20:00Speaker 5: why you were in there? Well, how do they rank
- 20:03Speaker 5: Texas Tech, who wouldn't have lost, but wouldn't have been
- 20:06Speaker 5: in there? How did these leagues trust this committee to
- 20:11Speaker 5: all of a sudden, Now, not only are you ranking
- 20:13Speaker 5: the top the teams. From the end of it, you're
- 20:16Speaker 5: gonna tell us what teams need to play in the
- 20:18Speaker 5: in our conference championship games. Anyway, there's a lot of
- 20:21Speaker 5: stuff that's about there.
- 20:22Speaker 1: There's a lot of stuff that but I don't see it.
- 20:26Speaker 1: I don't see it get it better anytime soon. I
- 20:28Speaker 1: think the chaos is going to continue in all forms.
- 20:32Speaker 5: And I've and I've fixed it. I say it every year,
- 20:37Speaker 5: tell us who the top six are tell us who
- 20:40Speaker 5: seven through fourteen are, and you don't have to worry
- 20:42Speaker 5: about all this garbage. People are still going to tune
- 20:45Speaker 5: in if you're if you have to have a TV show.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Okay, they're gonna have to have a TV show. They're
- 20:51Speaker 1: not contract, they're not undoing it. No, they're still going
- 20:54Speaker 1: to start in November and ranked teams.
- 20:56Speaker 5: Right, and you would still get the same eyeball if
- 21:00Speaker 5: you told me who the top six teams were and
- 21:02Speaker 5: who the next state were, Okay, and who and if
- 21:06Speaker 5: it's at the bottom, if you're if you're team fifteen
- 21:10Speaker 5: and sixteen and they didn't say your name, well we
- 21:13Speaker 5: better start playing better football if we want to move
- 21:15Speaker 5: into the top fourteen.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Right, So, but what are their criteria for moving into
- 21:20Speaker 1: the top five. I'm just that's the problem.
- 21:23Speaker 5: That's why I don't think SEC coaches want to hear
- 21:27Speaker 5: this group. After telling the SEC all year strength, the
- 21:31Speaker 5: record is going to be a number one.
- 21:34Speaker 1: They just screwed that deal totally up. Yes, and they've
- 21:38Speaker 1: lost all credibility with that and now and now the coaches,
- 21:41Speaker 1: which I don't blame him. I saw Sark again today,
- 21:45Speaker 1: you know, saying I don't want to play these games.
- 21:49Speaker 1: I don't blame them, Yes, why would you play it? Right? Yes,
- 21:54Speaker 1: I mean, go play a directional school. Beat the hell
- 21:56Speaker 1: out of them, right, don't get a loss on your
- 21:59Speaker 1: on your on your resime. I mean, there's just no
- 22:01Speaker 1: reason unless they're going to say, which they did last
- 22:06Speaker 1: year going into this year, as you mentioned, they told us, oh,
- 22:09Speaker 1: straight the schedule, that's a schedule, straight the record, that's important,
- 22:13Speaker 1: and then they just threw them out. Yes, they totally
- 22:16Speaker 1: threw them out. And so why why would you why
- 22:19Speaker 1: is seven? Yeah exactly, I mean why is sn Okay, Well,
- 22:25Speaker 1: I want to what do you got? What do you got?
- 22:27Speaker 5: I've got the ending of the show. No, I've got
- 22:30Speaker 5: the ending of my time. I have something I want
- 22:33Speaker 5: to say. Okay, go ahead, Okay, you remember when everybody
- 22:37Speaker 5: was tanking for Tua. Remember when when everybody's tanking for
- 22:40Speaker 5: Tuas T shirts and all that stuff like that, and
- 22:44Speaker 5: you know he's lost his job, right, yes, okay, So
- 22:47Speaker 5: if you've gone from tanking for TUA to quitting for Quinn,
- 22:52Speaker 5: have you gotten any better? Do you think I can
- 22:54Speaker 5: sell quitting for Quinn T shirts?
- 22:56Speaker 1: What's quitting for Quinn?
- 22:58Speaker 5: Quinn yours is now No, I knew, Yeah, because they
- 23:01Speaker 5: want to quit and and and get a higher draft.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Oh is that what it is?
- 23:04Speaker 7: Oh?
- 23:04Speaker 1: Yeah, well no, I don't think they put him in
- 23:07Speaker 1: just to lose that. I mean they put him in
- 23:09Speaker 1: because Tua has been horrible.
- 23:10Speaker 5: Oh he's terrible.
- 23:11Speaker 1: He's I mean, I don't play attention.
- 23:13Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Apparently ad midgood right, Yeah? What if Quinn wins the game?
- 23:18Speaker 1: Will he be benched? Are you saying if he wins,
- 23:20Speaker 1: he'll be benched? Yeah, we don't want to wait the coach.
- 23:23Speaker 5: They fired their coach all those years ago and got
- 23:26Speaker 5: NFL got sued. I mean the Dolphins got sued because
- 23:30Speaker 5: he said the president of the GM told me to
- 23:32Speaker 5: lose games.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, So anybody, uh, just a couple of
- 23:40Speaker 1: quick basketball notes. Yes, tonight Vanderbilt at Memphis. You get
- 23:46Speaker 1: a chance to watch. If you haven't watched Vanderbilt, see
- 23:49Speaker 1: if are they a top legitimate, you know, fifteen team.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Most of the people who follow basketball say they are.
- 23:55Speaker 1: I've watched him a little bit, not a lot, and
- 23:59Speaker 1: then that's that's the only decent game honestly coming up?
- 24:06Speaker 7: You have.
- 24:08Speaker 1: I haven't seen Georgia play. I was listening to Jimmy
- 24:11Speaker 1: Dike's last night. But Jimmy Dikes thinks every SEC team
- 24:14Speaker 1: is going to win the national championship.
- 24:17Speaker 5: Say that about the No, he didn't. I got to
- 24:20Speaker 5: put him on the list, now, yeah, you.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Got to put him on your list. And and the
- 24:26Speaker 1: the Aggies at three o'clock on Sunday afternoon against East Tech.
- 24:35Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 24:35Speaker 5: I think it's free.
- 24:37Speaker 1: They haven't said that. I haven't got anything on that.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Hang on, if they want people to know it's free,
- 24:43Speaker 1: they better tell me that it's free, because I haven't
- 24:45Speaker 1: heard that.
- 24:46Speaker 5: I know. I think they have a free game coming up.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Well that would be the only one. Yeah, I mean who.
- 24:52Speaker 5: Do they play next week? Like early next week?
- 24:58Speaker 1: I don't know. They play you, you know on that Saturday? Yeah?
- 25:02Speaker 1: The third? Did they have a game between that and
- 25:04Speaker 1: the other one? Am I missing a game?
- 25:10Speaker 5: A game against Prairie View on December twenty ninth. Oh
- 25:13Speaker 5: that's a free fan appreciation Okay, so this one is
- 25:16Speaker 5: not right, Yes, but the game on the twenty ninth
- 25:20Speaker 5: Prairieview will.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Be better in East Texas. They should make this one free.
- 25:25Speaker 1: This oney that the goal is can you out score
- 25:28Speaker 1: one hundred and twelve? You did this last Sunday? I
- 25:30Speaker 1: think maybe they can.
- 25:31Speaker 5: And what time is that game that if they moved
- 25:33Speaker 5: it for three o'clock.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Three o'clock, okay, three o'clock Sunday. Okay, we're done. Merry Christmas,
- 25:41Speaker 1: Happy New Year you Happy New Year, yes, sir. And

- 28:51Speaker 1: fig back to last January of twenty twenty five, where
- 28:55Speaker 1: hopes were high that you know, we were going to
- 29:00Speaker 1: I think gets syndicated into a national podcast be retired
- 29:06Speaker 1: by now have all the pictures from the met Gala
- 29:10Speaker 1: from last year, the Oscars, and it just it didn't happen.
- 29:17Speaker 7: It just slipped through the cracks.
- 29:18Speaker 1: For whatever reason, it just didn't happen.
- 29:24Speaker 7: I was really banking on me being retired. I'm not
- 29:26Speaker 7: going to lie.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Well, you and me, both, you and me both. So
- 29:31Speaker 1: as of as of right now, Oh, we'll be back
- 29:36Speaker 1: on January sixth. We'll see what happens. That's a long
- 29:40Speaker 1: way away. You know.
- 29:41Speaker 7: Maybe I'll learn how to properly pronounce things.
- 29:46Speaker 1: No, we don't want to do that.
- 29:48Speaker 7: Don't maybe all care a little more?
- 29:50Speaker 1: No, No, we don't want to care.
- 29:53Speaker 7: No, no part of the charm of this show.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Thank you. That's exactly right. Okay, So then I hate
- 30:03Speaker 1: to start this out like this, but we have to.
- 30:05Speaker 7: Well, we have to. It's all that we do things.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Prosecutors have followed criminal charges against Nick Reiner, accused of
- 30:14Speaker 1: fatally stabbing his parents. Yeah, he was arrested on the
- 30:20Speaker 1: outskirts of downtown, LA. Faces two counts of murder with
- 30:26Speaker 1: special circumstance, allegation of multiple murders, and a special allegation
- 30:32Speaker 1: he personally used a dangerous and deadly weapon. I thought
- 30:35Speaker 1: that's what murder was, but hey, I'm not sure. It's
- 30:39Speaker 1: Rob Reiner and Michelle Singer's thirty two year old son,
- 30:44Speaker 1: Billy Crystal Martin Short, Albert Brooks, Larry David honoring Reiner
- 30:50Speaker 1: as quote, a master story teller, passionate, brave citizen, adding
- 30:56Speaker 1: that she devoted a great deal of their lives for
- 31:00Speaker 1: the betterment of fellow citizens. Just a strange situation, you know.
- 31:07Speaker 1: It's it's more tragic than the gene Hackman and wife death.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Remember we dealt with that last year.
- 31:16Speaker 7: This one.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, this one's very very different, very different.
- 31:23Speaker 7: So well, yeah, because the I mean, the other one,
- 31:25Speaker 7: they're both sad, yes, regardless, right, uh no, no matter
- 31:30Speaker 7: how you look at it. But this one, like I
- 31:32Speaker 7: don't know, like I watch a lot of crime TV. Yeah,
- 31:35Speaker 7: and it's something about your own kids, right, like murder
- 31:40Speaker 7: in general, right, but your own children. You're oh yeah,
- 31:46Speaker 7: Like that's a whole other level.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Yeah. Not good, not at all. But hey, let's let's
- 31:51Speaker 1: move on. Let's move on. So happy. In fact, the
- 31:55Speaker 1: quicker we move on with these stories, the quicker, we
- 31:58Speaker 1: can get to all the rest of the dead celebrities.
- 32:02Speaker 7: Yes, yes, oh, I know y'all look forward.
- 32:04Speaker 1: To Wait, no, I do, yes, very much.
- 32:07Speaker 7: Well, let's talk about Kate.
- 32:08Speaker 1: You want to talk about kt Absolutely absolutely, A breath
- 32:11Speaker 1: of fresh air, A breath.
- 32:13Speaker 7: Of that Kate, She's just nothing is wrong with her.
- 32:16Speaker 7: She's perfect. Kate Middleton is reclaiming her confidence after a
- 32:19Speaker 7: year that saw her announce her cancel, remission and help
- 32:23Speaker 7: host three world leaders. Wow. So the Princess of Wales,
- 32:27Speaker 7: who is forty three, has sent her family as her
- 32:31Speaker 7: gradually re emerges into public life following her illness. She
- 32:35Speaker 7: is in the confident phase where she is able to
- 32:38Speaker 7: define who she is, what she does, and how much
- 32:41Speaker 7: she does.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Oh that's awes.
- 32:44Speaker 7: At one end of the majestic Saint George's Hall in
- 32:48Speaker 7: Windsor Castle stood a twenty foot Christmas tree glittering with
- 32:52Speaker 7: thousands of lives.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Wait, you know what I would think that? Kate? Who
- 32:56Speaker 1: is I'm not being fetty here. She's in remission from cancer.
- 33:04Speaker 1: How could she put up a twenty foot Christmas tree
- 33:07Speaker 1: with thousands of Christmas lights?
- 33:10Speaker 7: Chip? That is what the peasants are for? Okay, not
- 33:15Speaker 7: the peasants, sorry, her royal servants. I don't know if
- 33:18Speaker 7: that's what they're called either. If I just offended a
- 33:20Speaker 7: royal servant, I'm so sorry.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:23Speaker 12: Anyways, Yeah, they're listening to us. But it was her
- 33:28Speaker 12: who shone the brightest as she swept into the December
- 33:32Speaker 12: third State banquet on the arm of Prince William delivery
- 33:37Speaker 12: a festive flourish Kate wore Queen Victoria's one hundred and
- 33:42Speaker 12: seventy two year old oriental crescent tiara.
- 33:46Speaker 7: Her circle is I don't think I said that.
- 33:48Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 33:48Speaker 7: It doesn't matter. The largest and grandest she's ever debuted,
- 33:52Speaker 7: once warned by Victoria herself and later by Queen Elizabeth
- 33:55Speaker 7: and the Queen Mother. Wow. It has been has long
- 34:00Speaker 7: been believed to be reserved for queens in future queens
- 34:04Speaker 7: under the term of Victoria as well. What we do
- 34:07Speaker 7: know if the cards aligne and once Charles hits the
- 34:12Speaker 7: book at William and King, she will be the queen.
- 34:14Speaker 7: She'll be Queen Woe Okay, Anyways, as Princess Kate reaches
- 34:19Speaker 7: the end of the year marked by recovery and a
- 34:22Speaker 7: gradual reclaiming of her role and confidence, is symbolism was unmistakable.
- 34:26Speaker 7: She's our idea of a future Queen Nice. The December
- 34:32Speaker 7: state banquet for German President Frank Walter Stein mirror. I
- 34:37Speaker 7: don't know if I said that, right and his wife
- 34:39Speaker 7: marked the couple's third of the year, placing Kate and
- 34:42Speaker 7: William and Front and center. So that's exciting.
- 34:47Speaker 8: Nice.
- 34:48Speaker 7: They did help wu and influence visiting lives such as
- 34:51Speaker 7: President Donald Trump in September. They're becoming the face of
- 34:55Speaker 7: state visits. They're taking on a leadership.
- 34:59Speaker 1: Will You can't just do walk about your whole career.
- 35:04Speaker 7: You have to wait till you're the queen or the
- 35:05Speaker 7: king to do a walk about everyone.
- 35:07Speaker 1: I guess, well, good forget for you, Kate. We're so
- 35:13Speaker 1: glad you're re emerging. That is awesome. I'm gonna need
- 35:19Speaker 1: some help with this. Top Songs of twenty twenty five.
- 35:25Speaker 7: You're gonna know all of them.
- 35:27Speaker 1: There's a couple of holdovers. Oh yeah, Lady Gaga and
- 35:33Speaker 1: Bruno Mars Die with a Smile and Kendrick Lamar's Not
- 35:38Speaker 1: Like Us returned to the number one slot on the
- 35:41Speaker 1: Billboard Hot one hundred even after the new year rolled in.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Wow at glance some of those chart toppers this last year,
- 35:52Speaker 1: including Lamar, SCA's Luther Sabrina Carpenter's Manchild, Alex Warren's Ordinary,
- 36:02Speaker 1: Hunterrick SI's Golden and Taylor Swift's The Fate of Ophelia. So,
- 36:11Speaker 1: without further ado, help me out number five on the list.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Denial is a River by Doci Is that right?
- 36:22Speaker 7: Okay?
- 36:22Speaker 12: Yeah, okay, I like how you Number.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Four Abra Cadabra by Lady Gaga.
- 36:32Speaker 7: That's a fun one.
