- 0:08Speaker 1: Well, Monday, I've got Friday on my mind. This is
- 0:11Speaker 1: our second Friday episode that we've ever recorded, and the
- 0:14Speaker 1: bullying has been intensifying here in No Dribble HQ. But
- 0:19Speaker 1: we'll tell you all about that later. You're with Notables
- 0:22Speaker 1: Friday episode. I'm Carolyn. I said my name at the
- 0:37Speaker 1: wrong time. Usually I say it now because this is what.
- 0:40Speaker 2: You would think after one hundred and something shows you
- 0:43Speaker 2: have your shit together.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Welcome to No Drible, the podcast where we talk about network,
- 0:47Speaker 1: we talk about so much more. I don't know how
- 0:49Speaker 1: I am able to cope with being here today because
- 0:51Speaker 1: I have been subjected to some humiliating bullying in the
- 0:55Speaker 1: last minutes.
- 0:56Speaker 2: To be fair, you put that on.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I did idea. It's exciting.
- 1:01Speaker 2: I'm cath Cox.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Goodness, I've had a great week up until now. I'm soukordion.
- 1:08Speaker 2: My because you're a.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Little bit jealous, So is that why your week's taken up?
- 1:16Speaker 4: I'll be honest with you, like I've always thought this
- 1:18Speaker 4: about the Australian colors, and we'll get to verbally what's
- 1:22Speaker 4: going on. Anyone watching this will visually understand. But the
- 1:26Speaker 4: yellow you need a tan. I'm sorry, Carol, I.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Was about to say it's as u's the what's a
- 1:35Speaker 2: nice word to it?
- 1:37Speaker 3: You need hasty paste, tasty. Jamie Lee Price would be
- 1:42Speaker 3: all over this.
- 1:42Speaker 4: She would be like fake Tan and make like she's
- 1:45Speaker 4: right into this story out this week.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Go read it. ABC. I think reported on it about
- 1:49Speaker 3: fake Tan.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I'm sorry in my workplace I've been referred to as pasty.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I thank you to a body shaming me. I don't
- 1:57Speaker 1: think that's appropriate. In twenty twenty six, now, for those
- 2:00Speaker 1: of you who don't know, thanks to Valor, I've been
- 2:04Speaker 1: able to get my hands on the Commonwealth Games Stress.
- 2:09Speaker 1: So I don't know whether I'm meant to be wearing it,
- 2:12Speaker 1: but they dropped it off so we could talk about
- 2:13Speaker 1: it in the podcast and this is the home kitch.
- 2:17Speaker 1: So last week they had a big reveal at the
- 2:20Speaker 1: Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney and Sophie Dwyer was
- 2:24Speaker 1: wearing the away kit, which is more green, which I
- 2:26Speaker 1: think would have suited me better than this.
- 2:30Speaker 2: But it's good. But it's amazing how much you look
- 2:34Speaker 2: like our little netball nome from Bunnings.
- 2:36Speaker 3: I was just going to say, you look like one
- 2:38Speaker 3: of the Cransburg twins. Yeah, the two of.
- 2:40Speaker 2: You there Freaky Friday. It is Freaky Friday.
- 2:45Speaker 3: And you just hold your hand up like you're holding
- 2:47Speaker 3: a ball.
- 2:48Speaker 1: You hold that like the Actually, no, I won't be
- 2:50Speaker 1: doing any more to look like the Gnome statue. You
- 2:55Speaker 1: know what. I put this comdrain this. So this is
- 2:57Speaker 1: the diamonds Atul and I worried about I thought, am
- 3:01Speaker 1: I allowed to wear it? But actually I could be
- 3:05Speaker 1: in the team at this stage, team hasn't been named. True,
- 3:07Speaker 1: we're in trouble if we're relying on and I do
- 3:10Speaker 1: think we do. You have a bit of talent in
- 3:12Speaker 1: the mid court already, So maybe I won't be getting
- 3:14Speaker 1: the call up. But at this stage it's entirely appropriate
- 3:17Speaker 1: for me to be wearing the dress as anyone else. Right,
- 3:19Speaker 1: it is a beautiful dress. It's beautiful, isn't it?
- 3:22Speaker 2: And like the material is always I love the cut
- 3:25Speaker 2: of the necklines are very sporty.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Can I tell you a little bit of.
- 3:30Speaker 3: What can you do a visual? I know like we
- 3:32Speaker 3: can verbalize the visual? Can you do a rotation here?
- 3:35Speaker 1: Will you be explaining that I look pasty?
- 3:38Speaker 3: Again?
- 3:39Speaker 1: I would like to give some creativity.
- 3:42Speaker 2: In so many of many of my team managers would
- 3:46Speaker 2: have a conniption about your brass strups hanging out. That's
- 3:49Speaker 2: that's for sure.
- 3:50Speaker 1: That's a hell.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Your sex podcast.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Why is it down to your knees? Because that's just
- 3:57Speaker 2: how long they are this year.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Oh, very good side. They've decided to make the dresses
- 4:02Speaker 1: really long on everyone. So it is a little bit,
- 4:04Speaker 1: it's a bit hard. Let me hang on, let me
- 4:06Speaker 1: try to move this my little table here?
- 4:09Speaker 3: Is it tea barb at the back?
- 4:11Speaker 2: Yes, it is. That's what I mean with the brass straps.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Maud Molina would have a heart attack.
- 4:16Speaker 3: You'd be kicked off the team immediately would be well.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I didn't wear the right I've just slipped out between
- 4:22Speaker 1: episodes to put this on and I was going to
- 4:25Speaker 1: take the bra off, but then I thought what I
- 4:27Speaker 1: want to get nipped up on YouTube?
- 4:32Speaker 3: So valor this.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Is about, so let me tell you about this. So
- 4:36Speaker 1: there is a this is it's called terror Scale is
- 4:39Speaker 1: the design that they have on here, and it's the
- 4:44Speaker 1: influences are Australian flora and fauna, particularly like reptiles and lizards.
- 4:49Speaker 1: The scaling there so so and then there's the special
- 4:52Speaker 1: panels on the dress where indigenous designs and the terrace
- 4:57Speaker 1: scale has been woven in. So usually when the First
- 5:00Speaker 1: Nations Round stresses are out, it's just printed on, but
- 5:03Speaker 1: here it's woven into the fabric. And apparently this fabric
- 5:07Speaker 1: is more it's lighter weight, more breathaball and more flexible.
- 5:10Speaker 3: So good, very very good.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Can you play a good game and eddy in that?
- 5:15Speaker 2: Then you feel it free? Yeah, a little pasty, but free.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I can't imagine I'd play any worse in it, So yeah,
- 5:21Speaker 1: I think I probably I might play some of my
- 5:24Speaker 1: career best netball in this stress.
- 5:26Speaker 3: You're going it's smooth enough that you'd slide off the
- 5:29Speaker 3: bench onto the court.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Well, well done.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I wonder who else is going to be sliding off
- 5:35Speaker 2: the bench onto the court in this Commonwealth game? Squad.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Well, I do want to talk about that in our
- 5:40Speaker 1: netball segment. But first of all, this stress reminded me
- 5:43Speaker 1: of something, Catherine, because a few weeks ago, when Elizabeth
- 5:47Speaker 1: was here, right at the end of the episode, everything
- 5:51Speaker 1: it got really tense, didn't it, Because you said you
- 5:56Speaker 1: needed you had to hang over then too, God intervench
- 6:00Speaker 1: and time Fanks. You said you needed to go and
- 6:03Speaker 1: find a cheese and pineapple roll toasted sandwich. Yeah, and
- 6:08Speaker 1: Liz was horrified. She she's rabidly anti pineapple on pizza.
- 6:14Speaker 1: And I thought, while she's not here, we need to
- 6:17Speaker 1: unpack this, we need to explore it. And I'd like
- 6:19Speaker 1: to know what, Sue Gordion, she's shaking her head.
- 6:23Speaker 4: I'm I'm pineapple on pizza with chili. So once when
- 6:27Speaker 4: I was in Sri Lanka doing some coaching, right outside
- 6:30Speaker 4: my hotel was a van that sold pineapple with salt
- 6:36Speaker 4: and chili in a bag and so.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Yum like it was inside. And so then I came
- 6:42Speaker 3: back from there.
- 6:43Speaker 4: I always used to add pineapple, loved pineapple, but then
- 6:46Speaker 4: now I just a touch of salt and chili on
- 6:49Speaker 4: my pizza with pineapple.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Dum oh my.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Goodness, the mouth celeivating.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Yeah, like you it The main tason I want to
- 7:02Speaker 1: go back to Hawaii is to eat pineapple. That male
- 7:05Speaker 1: we go pineapple, it's insane.
- 7:07Speaker 2: So Li's is the odd one out? Then can we
- 7:09Speaker 2: just we're all pro pineapple.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I'm neutral on pineapple, Like I won't ever order a
- 7:15Speaker 1: pizza that has pineapple on it because I like to
- 7:18Speaker 1: go for pepperoni and chili and olives. And but if
- 7:24Speaker 1: I'm if there's pineapple on pizza in front of me
- 7:27Speaker 1: and someone else has ordered it, I will eat it
- 7:29Speaker 1: and enjoy it.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Well, you won't pick it off. So where they send
- 7:31Speaker 2: on anchovies? And because I feel like that's just as polarizing,
- 7:34Speaker 2: if not more.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I have become a very picky with anchovies. So I
- 7:39Speaker 1: really like anchovies, but they've got to be really good
- 7:43Speaker 1: quality anchovies, and I don't put them on pizzas like
- 7:47Speaker 1: they are. You know, I'll get those autis ones and
- 7:49Speaker 1: have them with some nice bread or something.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Where are you?
- 7:52Speaker 2: Oh god?
- 7:53Speaker 1: No, no, yeah, I figured that you two wouldn't be anchovy.
- 7:57Speaker 4: I don't eat any seafood at all, but the smell
- 8:00Speaker 4: of an anchovy or the second that that little thing enters.
- 8:05Speaker 3: My mouth, yeah, hairy bits too, it's not I would vomit.
- 8:12Speaker 3: I literally would vomit. I'm sorry, I would.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Have you ever had the white anchovies?
- 8:16Speaker 3: No? No?
- 8:17Speaker 4: Do you do you hear what I'm saying to you?
- 8:21Speaker 3: Well, I'm not sure you're picking up what I'm putting
- 8:24Speaker 3: down here.
- 8:25Speaker 1: We All I'm saying is that there's anchovies, and then
- 8:28Speaker 1: there's anchovies and so and I'm I'm anchovies, but I'm
- 8:31Speaker 1: not the anchovies. I used to love an anchovy on pizza,
- 8:33Speaker 1: but then so I now think, no, I do not
- 8:35Speaker 1: wish wish for that, but I feel like we could
- 8:39Speaker 1: order pizzas together and it wouldn't turn into a riot.
- 8:43Speaker 2: No, absolutely not. Yeah, with duck on pizza across a lot.
- 8:48Speaker 2: I had a bad duck pizza experience one time, and
- 8:51Speaker 2: it scarred me for life.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I'm just not a big poultry fan on pizza. I
- 8:56Speaker 1: don't like chicken on pizzas, like a barbecue chicken. And no,
- 9:00Speaker 1: you're always a bit sweet for me.
- 9:01Speaker 3: So I like the Italian meats on pizza.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Personally, I'm seriously hungry now.
- 9:07Speaker 4: God, and then you go to Italy and you have
- 9:09Speaker 4: a true pizza and there's very little on it.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Usually one ingredient made to lucky.
- 9:15Speaker 2: That's red cheese and tomato. Nothing pizza hungry. Well there
- 9:22Speaker 2: we go, Ells voted off the island.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Well yeah, so so there's two four, one neutral and
- 9:30Speaker 1: one against. So okay, all right, that was good to know.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Something I've been meaning to tell you this for weeks.
- 9:38Speaker 1: You know, in cartoons, there's always that while we're on
- 9:41Speaker 1: the yellow and the perkinanas and the pineapple. There's always
- 9:44Speaker 1: in a cartoon someone slips over a banana peel, but
- 9:47Speaker 1: no one in real life has ever done that. Guy
- 9:49Speaker 1: from my gym went to Vietnam came home in like
- 9:52Speaker 1: a boot because he slipped on a banana peel in
- 9:55Speaker 1: the street. Isn't that grass?
- 9:57Speaker 2: Yeah, so it does happen.
- 9:59Speaker 1: It's like life imitating art.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Yeah, so I wonder at what point they get slippery though?
- 10:05Speaker 2: Is that because it's been sitting in the sun for
- 10:08Speaker 2: we need to control Darryl. Let's get Daryl onto it.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Darryl ona skin out for a day. See what you get?
- 10:15Speaker 2: Two days, three days, give it? Get one for about
- 10:17Speaker 2: a week. Yep, I like this and give a slip.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Great, Milton. Do remember she's just trying to throw you
- 10:25Speaker 1: off your tips for the week, so you might want
- 10:28Speaker 1: to be aware of that. And speaking of tips, we
- 10:30Speaker 1: should talk about a bit of netbil. So why don't
- 10:32Speaker 1: we have a little break and then come back and
- 10:33Speaker 1: talk netball. And I'm still going to keep wearing the
- 10:36Speaker 1: dress for the whole show.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yeah, pasty and perky now though cold over it?
- 10:57Speaker 1: Okay, we're back to talk about netball. Only one of
- 11:02Speaker 1: us is wearing the national team dress at the moment,
- 11:05Speaker 1: so that might make me the expert. Let's see. But
- 11:08Speaker 1: I would like to talk about the Commonwealth Games and
- 11:10Speaker 1: Commonwealth Games selection, and I would like to talk about
- 11:13Speaker 1: something that I found very surprising on the weekend, talk
- 11:17Speaker 1: about Gretel Wetter coming back.
- 11:19Speaker 2: She's eligible?
- 11:21Speaker 1: Tell them, but please explain, well, because.
- 11:23Speaker 4: She's playing, Yeah, yeah, what do you mean by eligible?
- 11:29Speaker 3: Like she when did she not become eligible?
- 11:32Speaker 2: No? Well, this is the conversation. I think people assume
- 11:35Speaker 2: because she's not playing in sun Corps Superneple that she's ineligible.
- 11:38Speaker 3: You don't have to play in sun Corps Superniple to
- 11:40Speaker 3: be eligible.
- 11:41Speaker 4: Yeah, No, I mean you have to play at any
- 11:44Speaker 4: local Nipple association if you there.
- 11:46Speaker 1: But like, I need the dress, I reckon.
- 11:49Speaker 2: And she's been playing in Malaysia and looks incredibly fit
- 11:54Speaker 2: and is eligible to be selected.
- 11:57Speaker 1: So how would that If you're a selector, though, how
- 12:00Speaker 1: are you going to be choosing Gretel Bhetter if she
- 12:02Speaker 1: has been doing exceptionally well in not the best league
- 12:05Speaker 1: in the world. How do you how do you make
- 12:08Speaker 1: that determination?
- 12:09Speaker 3: It's a tough one. Isn't it.
- 12:10Speaker 4: Because and well done to the Malaysian League and the
- 12:14Speaker 4: jahor Jules who have got their socials absolutely on plant.
- 12:17Speaker 4: We're all following it and it's so exciting to see
- 12:20Speaker 4: this league in Asia sort.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Of popping up and the donald gone over there.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Yes, because I think Laura Laman left and they late
- 12:26Speaker 3: in the second league.
- 12:27Speaker 4: They had two leagues, so they had their first league
- 12:29Speaker 4: and then they had this sort of like competition against
- 12:32Speaker 4: teams where one of the Singapore teams, the Nike team
- 12:35Speaker 4: flew in, et cetera, et cetera. AnyWho, what was I
- 12:38Speaker 4: getting at Gretel. It's one thing to look at her
- 12:41Speaker 4: and go, she looks great, but the game is different
- 12:44Speaker 4: from when she played it. I still think she would
- 12:46Speaker 4: be an intriguing proposition. And to the point the difficulty
- 12:53Speaker 4: I'm having in my head is the time frame, right,
- 12:57Speaker 4: so World Cup next year, if she would come back
- 13:01Speaker 4: and play SSN and has a good season, definitely does
- 13:05Speaker 4: she go into the squad?
- 13:07Speaker 3: Are they having invitees?
- 13:08Speaker 4: I think they've got to name the squad because they've
- 13:09Speaker 4: got to present the names to the Commonwealth Games in advance,
- 13:13Speaker 4: Like that's one of the things with a multi sport event.
- 13:18Speaker 3: I don't know, Like I don't know, Like I wouldn't be.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Surprised because you can't you don't know. You've got first
- 13:23Speaker 2: things first, you've got to get her in the squad
- 13:25Speaker 2: because you don't know what she's capable of until she's
- 13:28Speaker 2: in that environment and playing against those players.
- 13:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I just say I only agree with that providing
- 13:36Speaker 4: you're giving me the scenario of who's not going into this.
- 13:39Speaker 1: That's what I was going to say, Why do we
- 13:41Speaker 1: need to?
- 13:42Speaker 2: But this is the question, though, isn't it, Because with
- 13:44Speaker 2: up to twenty two people can be taken in the squad,
- 13:47Speaker 2: right have we ever been at twenty two in the score?
- 13:50Speaker 3: We haven't, And you're not dropping in.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Okay, you're just adding one more.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Yeah, so if we're adding one more, but let's just
- 13:57Speaker 4: make sure that we're casting eyes across the le Like,
- 14:00Speaker 4: if you're asking me personally, i'd put her in the
- 14:03Speaker 4: squad just to happen to don't get me wrong, but
- 14:05Speaker 4: I just think from I'm trying to explain it, like
- 14:08Speaker 4: if from the selector's point of view, it's not that simple,
- 14:11Speaker 4: and their job is difficult because they have a great platform,
- 14:16Speaker 4: which is SUN caught super Netball to view every week
- 14:20Speaker 4: and compare, and it's very hard to watch Gretel in
- 14:24Speaker 4: a Malaysian league and compare, so that there would be
- 14:29Speaker 4: a lot more going on behind the scenes if Gretel
- 14:31Speaker 4: is even a viable option. I would imagine than what
- 14:35Speaker 4: we know about if she would have been selected in
- 14:37Speaker 4: this squad. And I'm talking like like dead set conversations
- 14:42Speaker 4: or I don't know, like I doubt there'd be a
- 14:46Speaker 4: one on one session with Marinkovich.
- 14:47Speaker 3: They've had that already.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Remember, so when she was first coming back here, Oh okay,
- 14:52Speaker 1: when was that?
- 14:52Speaker 2: Remember there was the social clip?
- 14:54Speaker 1: Yes, maybe beginning calendar year, is that?
- 14:56Speaker 2: Yeah, because it was talk that she might have been
- 14:58Speaker 2: back for some called super she was going to take
- 15:01Speaker 2: tip and.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Talk.
- 15:07Speaker 2: There was talk, There was definitely talk, but we weren't
- 15:11Speaker 2: the ones that put the clip on social media. Yes,
- 15:14Speaker 2: So I mean that was put out there for us
- 15:16Speaker 2: all to make our own opinions and judge. And now
- 15:19Speaker 2: she's playing and she looks fit, and I think you
- 15:22Speaker 2: get her back here, you get it in the environment
- 15:24Speaker 2: and you see what she's capable against that quality of player,
- 15:28Speaker 2: because you're right, completely different to where she's been well.
- 15:31Speaker 4: The only other scenario is that if genuinely she might
- 15:35Speaker 4: not be ready. Now she goes in, whether she's in
- 15:37Speaker 4: the squad or not, she goes into the environment and starts,
- 15:42Speaker 4: and you would hope potentially she's playing SSN next year
- 15:45Speaker 4: and becomes a viable proposition for the Diamonds selections going
- 15:50Speaker 4: into World Cup next year.
- 15:53Speaker 2: That's also do you know what though, I would also
- 15:56Speaker 2: feel a bit ripped off if I was an Australian
- 16:00Speaker 2: playing in Australia. Yep, that somebody else that wasn't could
- 16:04Speaker 2: just then come in.
- 16:04Speaker 3: And no, I don't.
- 16:06Speaker 4: I disagree because I think that's what we said at
- 16:09Speaker 4: the start. You're basically saying you have to be playing
- 16:11Speaker 4: in sun Corps Superne will be selected in the Diamonds
- 16:14Speaker 4: that we might like. Danelle Wallam is a great example.
- 16:17Speaker 4: She went across the ditch because she couldn't get a
- 16:18Speaker 4: contract here.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Mean I get that's New Zealand. Though I feel like
- 16:24Speaker 2: where Gretel's playing, Oh.
- 16:25Speaker 3: I know that, I know it's that would that would annoy.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Me as an athlete's she is Gretel though correct. It
- 16:35Speaker 2: is a choice that's been made and I think you're right.
- 16:37Speaker 2: It's because it is Gretel. But anyway, we shall wait
- 16:41Speaker 2: and see a week away. No, we're not. This is
- 16:45Speaker 2: going to air on Friday, so we are three days
- 16:47Speaker 2: away from annoying who's in that.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Squad whether she might look this good in this stress.
- 16:52Speaker 4: Go to Gretel Bueta's posts where she thanks the jahor
- 16:55Speaker 4: Jules and then writes, I can't wait for what's next.
- 17:02Speaker 1: She's very good at her socials. Played super Neple since
- 17:05Speaker 1: twenty twenty two. Oh that's right. What was that the
- 17:09Speaker 1: fire beds in twenty twenty two.
- 17:11Speaker 2: That feels like a long time.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Hasn't played for the Diamonds four out?
- 17:16Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, wow, Okay, it's.
- 17:18Speaker 1: A long time. Out of the environment. Yeah, out of
- 17:22Speaker 1: that environment. I mean, you know that said. We've seen
- 17:26Speaker 1: Katrina Rore come on court this year for a couple
- 17:28Speaker 1: of games for the Swifts and absolutely deliver. We saw
- 17:33Speaker 1: Casey or Boy last year do some amazing stuff, and
- 17:36Speaker 1: you know, sometimes champions don't need to be playing against
- 17:41Speaker 1: the champions in order to maintain their quality. But I
- 17:44Speaker 1: was just really surprised to hear this because it's like,
- 17:47Speaker 1: it seems to me a long time out and difficult
- 17:49Speaker 1: to assess someone. But now that I know this twenty
- 17:52Speaker 1: two thing, like, it's like, sure, get everyone in there,
- 17:55Speaker 1: I'll go back.
- 17:56Speaker 2: But the difference I guess with those players is they
- 17:58Speaker 2: had retired and they weren't playing. Nipple has never said
- 18:02Speaker 2: she's retired and she's always been playing, so it will
- 18:05Speaker 2: be very interesting.
- 18:05Speaker 4: But like I said, we don't have to wait longer, Carolyn,
- 18:10Speaker 4: not that I didn't believe your stats, but I had
- 18:12Speaker 4: to just chat GPT and it was thank you from
- 18:15Speaker 4: two season for the Queensland fire Birds stepped away from
- 18:19Speaker 4: the sport after the season due to pregnancy in family commitments.
- 18:22Speaker 2: There you go.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Has not returned to Super Nipple competition.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Since you're confirming what I said twenty's.
- 18:31Speaker 3: My favorite is.
- 18:32Speaker 1: When someone actually the words you didn't say were Carolyn,
- 18:35Speaker 1: you were right. That's my favorite thing.
- 18:37Speaker 4: Well, I was only reading what chat GPT told me
- 18:40Speaker 4: that Carolyn, you were right, getting really wrong.
- 18:44Speaker 1: In spite of all evidence to the contrary. All right,
- 18:47Speaker 1: well that is very interesting. We did have a question through.
- 18:50Speaker 1: It was an asked the goat question, but I don't
- 18:51Speaker 1: think it's an appropriate question for the goat because she's
- 18:54Speaker 1: not a commentator, but I have two commentators here with me.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Now can you talk? Are you guys on a plane
- 18:59Speaker 1: to Scotland?
- 19:01Speaker 2: I am, oh, I am so exciting. Yeah, yes, I'm going.
- 19:07Speaker 3: I was just about to do a Scottish accent and
- 19:09Speaker 3: start an Indian.
- 19:12Speaker 2: She's gon to Scotland. She's going to be in Glasgow
- 19:15Speaker 2: on the ground for the Commonwealth Games.
- 19:17Speaker 1: But that's not always the case, is it. You don't
- 19:19Speaker 1: always get sent overseas for the games like.
- 19:23Speaker 3: You guys, I'm not going.
- 19:25Speaker 4: So calf And and Kim Cat and Kim Green are
- 19:33Speaker 4: with Channel seven here, and I'm with the host broadcaster,
- 19:37Speaker 4: which is called Actua, which is they're based in Geneva.
- 19:41Speaker 4: So I'm hitting over right, Okay you.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Are?
- 19:53Speaker 4: Yeah, so I'll head over and Cat to Invitey is
- 19:57Speaker 4: going over as well. So and then we're we're with
- 19:59Speaker 4: other English broadcasters.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Okay, So tell me how this works then. So I'm
- 20:04Speaker 1: I'm an Australian fan wanting to watch calm games. What
- 20:07Speaker 1: am I watching? Who's doing?
- 20:09Speaker 3: What for me watching?
- 20:10Speaker 4: If you're watching Australia play someone, you'll be watching Kath
- 20:13Speaker 4: and Kim yep, that's what you'll hear if Channel seven
- 20:16Speaker 4: then show I'm assuming this Cat, because I'm assuming this
- 20:20Speaker 4: will be the same as ASY. So then I think
- 20:25Speaker 4: if you're then wanting to watch any of the other games,
- 20:30Speaker 4: and Channel seven will probably have their live other stations,
- 20:35Speaker 4: you know, rotating whatever, showing all over games, then you'll
- 20:38Speaker 4: pick up the broadcast commentary, which will be myself and
- 20:43Speaker 4: Cat and whoever else whatever games we get while we're
- 20:46Speaker 4: over there, while we're being.
- 20:49Speaker 2: But ed in Scotland and in Europe, the commentary will
- 20:53Speaker 2: be yours.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Obviously around the world it will be ours because I
- 20:56Speaker 4: think at this stage Channel seven is the only other
- 20:59Speaker 4: broadcast are picking up independently prick picking.
- 21:04Speaker 2: And then are you then doing all of the Aussie games?
- 21:08Speaker 4: I don't have so I only know that I'm commentating,
- 21:11Speaker 4: so our producer and director hasn't yet told us who's
- 21:14Speaker 4: on what games, but you would get the sense that as.
- 21:17Speaker 3: A caller, I'm calling yep.
- 21:19Speaker 4: And Pamela Cookies moving over to the calling role so
- 21:23Speaker 4: that'll be fun for her and Catherine Mary's doing the
- 21:26Speaker 4: first two days. She commentates and calls in the Super
- 21:29Speaker 4: League over in England, but she's also a track and
- 21:32Speaker 4: field former medallist and so she's going across to cover
- 21:35Speaker 4: the track and field from days three onwards, so that
- 21:38Speaker 4: leaves Pam and myself to call and then ebone you
- 21:42Speaker 4: saw O Brown and cat Toy vidyas experts and so
- 21:46Speaker 4: a monthst Us four they will mix and mingle. So
- 21:48Speaker 4: you would assume I would probably be on Ossie games
- 21:51Speaker 4: for the broadcaster.
- 21:53Speaker 2: So when you are actually on the ground for the
- 21:55Speaker 2: commonwalk games, you do a lot more work. So when
- 21:59Speaker 2: did the comm Games in twenty eighteen on Australian saw
- 22:02Speaker 2: when it was in the Gold Coast, we did four
- 22:03Speaker 2: games a day. We did two morning session, two of
- 22:07Speaker 2: the night session. It was a lot. But Kim and
- 22:09Speaker 2: I are only doing the Australian game, so we'll only
- 22:11Speaker 2: have the one game a day throughout the Common Games.
- 22:14Speaker 1: And so will you be doing that You're up in
- 22:16Speaker 1: the middle of the night in the studio here?
- 22:18Speaker 4: Oh yeah, one little fun little booths that you go
- 22:25Speaker 4: into at channel seven. Yeah, call from a computer screen
- 22:28Speaker 4: and make it sound Lucky're on the ground and really
- 22:32Speaker 4: do our best.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Woo. But we always go to the coffee vent as
- 22:35Speaker 2: soon as we get there at one o'clock in the morning.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Yes, I can. First job. Oh okay, thank you. That's
- 22:40Speaker 1: very interesting. Gordey, can you come back after the comm
- 22:42Speaker 1: Games and tell us all about it please?
- 22:43Speaker 4: Yes, I'm actually yeah, I'm excited. I'm excited to Scotland.
- 22:46Speaker 4: I don't know if any of you have been over there.
- 22:48Speaker 4: It's a great place.
- 22:48Speaker 3: But love, love, I am jealous.
- 22:50Speaker 2: I would have loved to have been on the ground
- 22:52Speaker 2: for the comments.
- 22:53Speaker 4: Yeah, and I'm looking forward to it and yeah, this
- 22:56Speaker 4: this broadcast company is actually a bit of a left
- 22:59Speaker 4: of field one. So the people that I've been liaising
- 23:02Speaker 4: and engaging with have been unreal. But they're from all
- 23:06Speaker 4: over Europe, so the accents and the yeah it's one
- 23:09Speaker 4: of our key heads of the broadcast is from Italy
- 23:13Speaker 4: and the conversations with him, well.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Don't pull out your Indian Scottish accent. Could be doing that.
- 23:22Speaker 1: You might not be in the running for that un
- 23:25Speaker 1: job anymore either after that. But that's disappointing. So before
- 23:29Speaker 1: all of that, though, we have Round twelve of sun
- 23:32Speaker 1: Corps super Netbawl this weekend. This is not the Catherine
- 23:35Speaker 1: Cox round obviously, that was Round eleven. Time will tell
- 23:38Speaker 1: what Round twelve turns out. To be but interested to
- 23:41Speaker 1: get Lightning Giants, Lightning ear Lightning Lightning, Fever MAVs.
- 23:49Speaker 2: It's in Perth.
- 23:50Speaker 4: Well, there are two games of the round, so on
- 23:52Speaker 4: your Saturday, this is the game of the round.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Fever MAVs. I'm okay, hold back fever.
- 23:57Speaker 4: In at home and only on the fact of how
- 24:00Speaker 4: their form, what a form change they had last week.
- 24:04Speaker 1: I'm going to back fever In because I need it
- 24:06Speaker 1: to be Fever Swift's Firebirds. I needed to be Swifts.
- 24:12Speaker 1: So I'm going to say fift that's at home, and
- 24:15Speaker 1: you know, Thunderbirds and Vixen's in Adelaide, Radelaide.
- 24:22Speaker 2: I'm going to Birds.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm with Tea Birds on this.
- 24:26Speaker 4: I just think they're playing to her and also too
- 24:29Speaker 4: still waiting to know whether Hannah Monday will be back,
- 24:31Speaker 4: and I do think, I do think she's an important
- 24:35Speaker 4: cult to the depth of.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Their squad in these sorts of.
- 24:39Speaker 4: Games where you know, die I might need to look
- 24:42Speaker 4: down the bench so she will, you know, like I'd
- 24:44Speaker 4: still stick with the Thunderbirds, but they will need her back.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Very interesting. Okay, We're just going to go to a
- 24:50Speaker 1: quick break, but don't forget that competition we're running to
- 24:53Speaker 1: win a signed Thunderbird Stress, assigned Swift Stress or assigned
- 24:56Speaker 1: Giants Stress. Just go to Valor, spend thirty dollars or
- 24:59Speaker 1: more on merch and then put which team you want
- 25:02Speaker 1: to win the comp for. But that's that's some cool
- 25:05Speaker 1: gear out there, So get on the board that and
- 25:07Speaker 1: don't forget to put your tips in for the Valor
- 25:09Speaker 1: Dribbler's Tipping comp. Because today is, of course Friday, you
- 25:12Speaker 1: might be listening to this even on a Saturday. We're
- 25:14Speaker 1: going to take a quick break and then come back
- 25:17Speaker 1: with the things that make you go okay, things that
- 25:42Speaker 1: make you go hmmm. We've had a question. I think
- 25:46Speaker 1: this is an interesting one. I'm actually crossing segments here
- 25:48Speaker 1: because it came through as and asked the gate. But
- 25:50Speaker 1: I'm going to make it which rule in netball secretly
- 25:54Speaker 1: annoys you the most?
- 25:56Speaker 2: Oh? My mine has not been a secret because I
- 25:59Speaker 2: have it at many times. Defenders should not have unlimited
- 26:03Speaker 2: penalties to their name. Oh, they should not.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Be allowed it.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I reckon, there's going to be a cap on it,
- 26:08Speaker 1: and so then what they have to They're out of.
- 26:10Speaker 2: The game if you get more than twenty penalties. You're off.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Oh, that's interesting.
- 26:15Speaker 3: It's a bit like basketball.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Then that's at a moment, and twenty is a lot.
- 26:19Speaker 2: If you've got twenty penalties, you should be off. But
- 26:22Speaker 2: I think it would be it's needed.
- 26:25Speaker 4: Well, I'll just then flip the coin on that and
- 26:28Speaker 4: say that if a goal of misses more than four goals,
- 26:30Speaker 4: get them off.
- 26:32Speaker 2: And that's typically what.
- 26:38Speaker 3: My one is.
- 26:38Speaker 4: I hate when umpires call advantage breaking on a center pass.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Yeah, me too.
- 26:45Speaker 4: There is no advantage to breaking on a center pass.
- 26:50Speaker 4: This makes sense.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Explain it to me.
- 26:54Speaker 3: So let's say as.
- 26:55Speaker 4: Well as cats team's got the ball in hand, it's
- 26:59Speaker 4: their center par yep, my team are defending, and the
- 27:04Speaker 4: goal attack and wing attack and my team before the
- 27:07Speaker 4: whistleblows start to run down to try and defend the ball,
- 27:10Speaker 4: and then the umpire calls advantage breaking. But it's not
- 27:14Speaker 4: advantage because the opposition team, who don't have the ball
- 27:18Speaker 4: are in an advantage by being further down the court
- 27:22Speaker 4: to defend.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Yes, right, so that's stupid, that's what you were saying.
- 27:26Speaker 4: Yeah, Or when the wing defense or goal defense jump
- 27:30Speaker 4: out early to try and get in front and then
- 27:33Speaker 4: the umppie calls advantage, and I know what they're saying
- 27:35Speaker 4: is like they're saying advantage and you're hoping that the
- 27:39Speaker 4: attacking team ends up with the ball, or they do,
- 27:42Speaker 4: but are they ending up with the ball in the
- 27:44Speaker 4: position that they intended to before the breaking took place,
- 27:49Speaker 4: or did the breaking shift where the attacking team eventually landed,
- 27:52Speaker 4: and there is no advantage in that. So I think
- 27:55Speaker 4: that anytime a team breaks, the umpire blows the whistle
- 27:59Speaker 4: and the ball is advanced to the goal third immediately.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Uld stop it happened.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Pretty it just stopped happening.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Right, it'd just stopped happening, because it's just constant. Yeah,
- 28:10Speaker 3: I really struggle.
- 28:11Speaker 1: To understand the advantage rule in netball. I feel like
- 28:14Speaker 1: quite often they're calling something and it's like, well, actually,
- 28:17Speaker 1: you've just taken the advantage away from the team that
- 28:19Speaker 1: you're giving the advantage too, like they were they were
- 28:23Speaker 1: just about to get it into the goal circle and
- 28:24Speaker 1: you've said, no, we're calling it back here to give
- 28:26Speaker 1: you a penalty, and it's like, don't want this penalty
- 28:28Speaker 1: back here. I want it where it was.
- 28:30Speaker 2: So I've got a challenge for Sue Gordion this week, though,
- 28:32Speaker 2: Before we wrap up love it so we get full
- 28:35Speaker 2: starts packs, but after each round, and there's a lot
- 28:38Speaker 2: of stats in there. One of the starts that they
- 28:40Speaker 2: break down for is is throw ins. So Sarah klow
- 28:43Speaker 2: might have the greatest number of throw ins in the game.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Who gives a shit? So I want Gordy this week,
- 28:51Speaker 2: when she's calling her game to say, oh, that's Sarah
- 28:54Speaker 2: Kloud's on twenty seven. This is her twenty eight throw
- 28:57Speaker 2: in of the season or something. You've got to do
- 28:59Speaker 2: a throw in start throwing stat.
- 29:02Speaker 3: Okay, what game?
- 29:02Speaker 1: What game are you calling this weekend favor Mavericks? Okay, well,
- 29:06Speaker 1: oh yeah, not Sarah clout.
- 29:10Speaker 2: It makes it just makes me laugh.
- 29:12Speaker 1: The same challenge to you. You've got the same opportunity
- 29:15Speaker 1: to fulfill this challenge.
- 29:16Speaker 2: I've put the challenge out to my friends.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Good in Okay, So do you think it's fair that
- 29:21Speaker 1: she challenges you and doesn't take the challenge on herself.
- 29:25Speaker 3: Because I love a challenge she does.
- 29:27Speaker 2: She wants to say helicopter in the same sentence as
- 29:29Speaker 2: she's been throwing out there.
- 29:33Speaker 4: I remember the very first challenge I ever had as
- 29:35Speaker 4: a commentator, which was by Andrew Jansen, our former producer
- 29:38Speaker 4: back in the channel ten days and he I was
- 29:42Speaker 4: so nervous.
- 29:43Speaker 3: So I was just a new kid on the block.
- 29:44Speaker 4: And then he came, I'll spice it up, and you know,
- 29:47Speaker 4: someone say this, someone say that, someone say this.
- 29:49Speaker 3: I think I was on with Liz Allison, Luke Darcy.
- 29:51Speaker 3: I think it was at the.
- 29:52Speaker 4: Time, and I'm like, oh, we actually allowed to do this,
- 29:55Speaker 4: you know. And so literally I can't I apologize because
- 29:59Speaker 4: I can't remember the marine.
- 30:01Speaker 1: What was it?
- 30:01Speaker 2: There was something to do with the submarine?
- 30:03Speaker 3: Oh was it?
- 30:03Speaker 4: Because all I know is I was on the sideline
- 30:06Speaker 4: and they literally three down to me on the sideline
- 30:10Speaker 4: for the very first cross of the game, Like so
- 30:12Speaker 4: we're right in the first seconds of the game, and
- 30:14Speaker 4: I just opened and I said, oh gosh, this feels
- 30:16Speaker 4: like something like a there's enough water going outside that
- 30:19Speaker 4: I could be in a yellow submarine. I just literally
- 30:21Speaker 4: said it straight off the top because I just had
- 30:23Speaker 4: to get it off.
- 30:23Speaker 3: My chest nine and get on with it. And Liz
- 30:26Speaker 3: and that we're just pissing themselves laughing. So yeah, I
- 30:29Speaker 3: love a challenge.
- 30:30Speaker 1: So I'll so your challenge. Then, what are you going
- 30:32Speaker 1: to do? Gordy because I will know that this is
- 30:35Speaker 1: a gift from you to them.
- 30:37Speaker 3: Gift from me to the dribblers. If I can even
- 30:40Speaker 3: mention the dribblers, I'll try and find a moment to
- 30:41Speaker 3: do that, but I will.
- 30:44Speaker 4: I will definitely comment at some point when Katie and
- 30:48Speaker 4: Dahaney or depends who's playing goalkeeper for Mavericks takes a throwing,
- 30:57Speaker 4: just to make sure that everyone out in netbulll and
- 31:00Speaker 4: dribble and understands just how many throwings that is for
- 31:02Speaker 4: that particular person.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Love it, thank you? Well, that makes it very exciting.
- 31:07Speaker 1: I love these little extra challenges. Love it. Yeah, I
- 31:11Speaker 1: think that's unfortunately we have to let Gordy go because
- 31:15Speaker 1: she does have a job. Well, it's so so awesome
- 31:19Speaker 1: to have you here. I love the conversations that we've had.
- 31:22Speaker 1: We do have a quick not dribble recommends. I think
- 31:24Speaker 1: we really have to tell people about this birthday cake place.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Oh yes, Catherine's birthday cake that we had on the weekend.
- 31:31Speaker 1: I'm not a big sweet seedar I ate two giant
- 31:34Speaker 1: slabs of this because it was the most delicious cake
- 31:38Speaker 1: I have ever had. And we need to give some
- 31:41Speaker 1: love to these guys. Obviously, glad I didn't have a
- 31:44Speaker 1: third piece because I'm wearing my new Commonwealth game Stress today,
- 31:48Speaker 1: which is very hot. People get judging when you put
- 31:52Speaker 1: on weight if you're wearing the national dress.
- 31:56Speaker 2: I don't think it's a big secret because they have
- 31:58Speaker 2: one hundred no correction, They've got eight hundred and three
- 32:01Speaker 2: thousand follow on Instagram. It's n Z and Z e
- 32:07Speaker 2: Bakery and I believe there's one in North Ride and
- 32:12Speaker 2: there's one in Barangaroo. But they're the freshest sponge cakes
- 32:16Speaker 2: and then it's all fresh cream, fresh fruit. It was amazing,
- 32:21Speaker 2: So follow them on the gram first to get your
- 32:23Speaker 2: drool on going.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Ee and Z e Baiakery. Yeah, fantastic. Well that's a
- 32:29Speaker 1: no Drid will recommend and absolutely and on art can
- 32:32Speaker 1: recommend that. I have tried as much of that as
- 32:35Speaker 1: I possibly could. But yeah, it's time for us to go.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Tickets to our Grand Final leave Aventre on sale now.
- 32:43Speaker 3: Oh that's exciting.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Yeah, so jump on board that one because we do
- 32:47Speaker 1: have a strictly limited number. We have some very exciting
- 32:50Speaker 1: guests coming together for that one.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Well, I have already put it to Kim Green and
- 32:54Speaker 2: she said she's in if she can get there.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Yeah, it's going to be a surprise.
- 32:57Speaker 2: But no, we've got to drip feed some of these
- 32:59Speaker 2: big names and people get place.
- 33:01Speaker 3: Came back channel, same place, back channel.
- 33:04Speaker 1: No different place. We're in the city this time a
- 33:06Speaker 1: slightly bigger, bigger venue, but gosh, depending on how things go.
- 33:11Speaker 1: I would love to have Sue Gordion in the house obviously,
- 33:14Speaker 1: and yeah, there there, Gordon, thank you so much again
- 33:21Speaker 1: for joining us this week. Soups are best in the business.
- 33:24Speaker 1: We love having her here. I'm Carolyn Swindella, I'm Capcox,
- 33:28Speaker 1: I'm Gordy.
- 33:29Speaker 4: Sue Gordion, Bye bye.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Carolyn's just going to get changed. Can you believe the
- 33:38Speaker 2: long Fellers on her.
- 33:40Speaker 3: I nearly died when she walked out. I was like,
- 33:42Speaker 3: is she serious? Like, get a fake tan on before
- 33:44Speaker 3: you're going to put that on?
- 33:45Speaker 2: Like literally translucent?
- 33:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, like just and then have a team
- 33:51Speaker 3: just on skin. No, and then sitting sitting next to
- 33:54Speaker 3: the nome like the nomes translucent as well as twins.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Yeah, sercal anyway, Hello,
