- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:19Speaker 1: It is a think about it Thursday here on Stu
- 0:21Speaker 1: Gotson Company on Fox Sports Radio. Mike Norvel, the head
- 0:24Speaker 1: coach at Florida State, go to join us PFT from
- 0:27Speaker 1: part of my take. They have a book out. It's
- 0:29Speaker 1: doing very very well. I sent them a text tailor.
- 0:32Speaker 1: I welcomed him. I congratulated him on joining the Author's club.
- 0:36Speaker 1: He and I now have something in common. We have
- 0:38Speaker 1: both written books. How about that?
- 0:40Speaker 3: And he laughed at me.
- 0:42Speaker 4: And you guys also did the move where other people
- 0:45Speaker 4: wrote a majority of the book.
- 0:48Speaker 5: A lot both have your names on. Yeah, yeah, I
- 0:50Speaker 5: would phrase it right.
- 0:51Speaker 4: They outsourced a lot of their book to guests to
- 0:54Speaker 4: write chapters for them.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Yes, but at least I wasn't trying to hide it.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Dan Stanzik wrote the book. I have said it a
- 1:00Speaker 1: number of times, and his name is on the book.
- 1:03Speaker 1: It's on the cover.
- 1:04Speaker 4: No, I just meant the guest the guest part of it,
- 1:06Speaker 4: where Andre Dawson shouldn't win MVP. Here comes Andre Dawson
- 1:10Speaker 4: to give a rebuttal.
- 1:13Speaker 3: That was a tough call to make. I have to
- 1:14Speaker 3: be honest with you.
- 1:15Speaker 4: I can't imagine the level of shame you have to
- 1:19Speaker 4: not have to call Andre Dawson and say, can you
- 1:22Speaker 4: please write a rebuttal to why I don't think you
- 1:25Speaker 4: should have won MVP.
- 1:25Speaker 1: It was a very generic conversation at the start. I've
- 1:28Speaker 1: known him for a long time. He's a great man.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I love him to death. He's one of the sweetest
- 1:32Speaker 1: men you will ever meet in your entire life. It
- 1:35Speaker 1: was very generic. Hawk wrote a book, you're in it?
- 1:40Speaker 1: What about me? Your MVP season? Okay, need you to
- 1:46Speaker 1: write a rebuttal. We'll send you the chapter that I wrote.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I asked Stanzy to write a fake chapter and send
- 1:52Speaker 1: it to Andre Dawson so he wasn't offended when he
- 1:56Speaker 1: read the real chapter because I was afraid he would
- 1:58Speaker 1: not write a rebuttal. But he got the chapter, he
- 2:01Speaker 1: liked it, he enjoyed it, and still wrote the rebuttal.
- 2:04Speaker 1: But it was very generic at the beginning of that conversation.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I remember it. He's like, you wrote a chapter about
- 2:10Speaker 1: my MVP season? Why would you do that? I'm like,
- 2:12Speaker 1: you'll see when you get it, and just write your
- 2:14Speaker 1: thoughts in a rebuttal for me, And he did it.
- 2:17Speaker 4: I've had this thought before too, because in two thousand
- 2:19Speaker 4: and three, so I didn't have your thought in my
- 2:22Speaker 4: head while I thought this. But in two thousand and three,
- 2:25Speaker 4: Alex Rodriguez won the al MVPEP when he was playing
- 2:28Speaker 4: for the Texas Rangers. Right, the Texas Rangers were seventy
- 2:31Speaker 4: one and ninety one that season.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Lees, by definition, how valuable can you be?
- 2:35Speaker 5: I mean, so seventy one wins?
- 2:38Speaker 1: Yeah, but check out Dawson's MVP season, But a.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Rod couldn't have been that valuable in the two thousand
- 2:45Speaker 4: and three. In the two thousand and three season's Steve Gotts'
- 2:48Speaker 4: point because if he wasn't on the team, what they
- 2:50Speaker 4: win twenty games and they still finished in last place?
- 2:53Speaker 1: Yes, Can you guys look up the year Andre Dawson
- 2:56Speaker 1: won the MVP. Can you see how many wins the
- 2:59Speaker 1: last place? Cause because I think it was like fifty
- 3:02Speaker 1: seven or something like that. Like that's just you can't
- 3:05Speaker 1: do that. You can't have a guy win the MVP
- 3:08Speaker 1: on a team that finishes in last place and I
- 3:10Speaker 1: run seventy wins. I could see.
- 3:12Speaker 4: So the nineteen eighty seven Chicago Cubs finished seventy six
- 3:16Speaker 4: and eighty five. They finished sixth in the NL East
- 3:19Speaker 4: at the time.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Did he win in eighty seven? Was that the year?
- 3:22Speaker 4: That's what it said?
- 3:23Speaker 1: Okay, all right, not bad.
- 3:25Speaker 6: See, I have a problem usually the other way. I
- 3:27Speaker 6: don't like when they just go, well, that's the best team, who's.
- 3:30Speaker 5: The best player on the team, give him the MVP.
- 3:32Speaker 6: Because I think that is like, nobody from the Rams
- 3:35Speaker 6: should win the MVP this season.
- 3:37Speaker 5: In the NFL, they just should. Nobody from the Dodgers should.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Win the MVP this year, right, which is why I
- 3:42Speaker 1: think Otani won't win it and Pete Crow will. So
- 3:45Speaker 1: I mean, I'm with you.
- 3:46Speaker 3: I'm with you on that because the team is so
- 3:47Speaker 3: loaded that there should not be an.
- 3:49Speaker 1: MVP, meaning if the MVP went down, that team can
- 3:52Speaker 1: still have success.
- 3:54Speaker 4: Yes, the opposite end of that, Mikey, it seems like
- 3:58Speaker 4: the Coach of the Year never goes to the coach
- 4:00Speaker 4: on the best team because everybody's like, oh, this coach
- 4:04Speaker 4: had all these expectations, like if the Rams go seventeen
- 4:08Speaker 4: and oh this season, yep, mcveigh's not getting Coach of
- 4:11Speaker 4: the Year because of the expectations the Rams came into
- 4:14Speaker 4: the season.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Hold on, hold on, if he goes undefeated, he's not
- 4:17Speaker 3: gonna I'm with you.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I'm with you on this take. If they have one loss,
- 4:20Speaker 1: two losses, three losses, Sean McVay is not winning NFL
- 4:24Speaker 1: Coach of the Year, but if they go undefeated, he might.
- 4:27Speaker 4: If McVeigh go's seventeen and oh and the Titans go
- 4:31Speaker 4: nine to eight, the Titan the voters will be racing
- 4:35Speaker 4: to the ballots to put in their ballots for Robert solid.
- 4:39Speaker 6: So what you're saying is you should be offended if
- 4:41Speaker 6: you're a player on a team and the coach wins
- 4:45Speaker 6: Coach of the Year, because they're basically.
- 4:46Speaker 5: Saying, well, you stink.
- 4:48Speaker 6: But I mean this coach, yeah, he got you, he
- 4:51Speaker 6: got you to five hundred, he dragged you to five
- 4:54Speaker 6: hundred and.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Meany McVeigh wins Coach of the Year, but Stafford doesn't
- 4:57Speaker 1: win MVP or something like that.
- 4:59Speaker 5: No, I'm saying, and.
- 5:00Speaker 6: I'm saying if you're a member of the Tennessee Titans,
- 5:02Speaker 6: right nine and eight, Robert Salah.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Yeah, you stun.
- 5:06Speaker 5: You're sitting there going, what are.
- 5:08Speaker 6: They saying about me to say that his job was
- 5:11Speaker 6: done so well? Yes, that we got to five hundred
- 5:14Speaker 6: because I'm on the team.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Because that would be the case for Robert Salah. He
- 5:18Speaker 1: got those guys to nine wins.
- 5:20Speaker 4: It's not so much that you should be offended, but
- 5:23Speaker 4: your team just outperformed expectations heading into the season. I
- 5:27Speaker 4: think the one award that I've heard people say that
- 5:30Speaker 4: they were offended when they won it. Like when I
- 5:32Speaker 4: was at North Carolina, they had these this award ceremony
- 5:35Speaker 4: and it was called the Rammies, and they gave out
- 5:38Speaker 4: the most Improved award and Mac Collins, my roommate at
- 5:42Speaker 4: the time, got the most Improved award. And as he
- 5:45Speaker 4: got it, he doesn't break stride on the stage. He
- 5:48Speaker 4: takes the award, he throws the award out in the trash.
- 5:51Speaker 4: And when everybody asked him, when everybody asked him why
- 5:55Speaker 4: he threw out his most improved, he goes most improved
- 5:58Speaker 4: just means you weren't anything the year before.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Yeah, but it might mean you were injured.
- 6:02Speaker 3: I mean, what's wrong with improvement?
- 6:05Speaker 1: Why don't people want their improvement honored or recognized?
- 6:09Speaker 3: I don't get it.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I mean, improving is improving?
- 6:13Speaker 4: Put that on the poll. Is improving?
- 6:15Speaker 5: Improving?
- 6:19Speaker 1: Wait? So what were the names of these awards? The Rammis?
- 6:22Speaker 4: The Rammys like the Grammys, but our mascot was Ramseys,
- 6:25Speaker 4: so they just called it the rams.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Who thought of that? I mean probably the athletic dundee? Yah, Mike,
- 6:34Speaker 1: there's no way McVeigh is what it? Well, hold on,
- 6:37Speaker 1: let's do this. Put it on the pole tailor. If
- 6:39Speaker 1: Sean McVeigh goes undefeated this season, will he win Coach
- 6:43Speaker 1: of the Year? Okay, because that's the only way he's
- 6:46Speaker 1: gonna win Coach of the Year, Mikey, do you agree
- 6:48Speaker 1: with that?
- 6:48Speaker 3: If he goes seventy to know he's going to be
- 6:50Speaker 3: the NFL Coach of the Year.
- 6:52Speaker 5: I think that's probably the only way he wins it.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Right.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Did Belichick win it the Yeah? I think they did.
- 6:58Speaker 3: I think Belichick won it.
- 6:59Speaker 4: The best coach is from the best teams, though, like
- 7:01Speaker 4: they historically never win this award. Like you look at
- 7:05Speaker 4: acc basketball, look up how many times coach k won
- 7:08Speaker 4: Coach of the Year for how good Duke basketball is normally, right,
- 7:12Speaker 4: he doesn't get it because they're looking for the teams
- 7:14Speaker 4: that just outperform expectations. Like if Todd Munkin goes seven
- 7:18Speaker 4: and ten, I think Todd Muntin might be the coach
- 7:20Speaker 4: of the year in Cleveland.
- 7:21Speaker 3: I would say if he goes US six and eleven,
- 7:23Speaker 3: he might. I mean about that exactly. He carried those
- 7:25Speaker 3: guys six wins.
- 7:26Speaker 6: I mean, it sounds like these coaches are in those
- 7:30Speaker 6: awful HR meetings at these big companies where they do
- 7:33Speaker 6: a performance review and they're like, well, you've met expectations,
- 7:37Speaker 6: but we need well I went seventeen to O what
- 7:39Speaker 6: do you mean, Well, we just want you to do
- 7:42Speaker 6: a little.
- 7:42Speaker 5: Bit better, to exceed expectation. Nobody gets exceed expectation. Put
- 7:49Speaker 5: it on the how many of those did I get?
- 7:51Speaker 3: If Todd Munkin wins seven games, well he win coach.
- 7:55Speaker 5: Of the year.
- 7:57Speaker 1: It's such a great Who won coach of the Year
- 8:01Speaker 1: last year? Was it McDonald? It was probably McDonald. Now
- 8:04Speaker 1: that team had low expectations headed into the season. They
- 8:07Speaker 1: were not one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Who was it? It was Mike Vrabel, Okay, I mean
- 8:12Speaker 1: and that team went to the Super Bowl expectation, low expectation. Yes,
- 8:16Speaker 1: in the runner up was Liam Cohne and the Jaguars.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Huh low expected, low expectable. Well, how he got the
- 8:22Speaker 1: most out of Trevor Lawrence. It wasn't Trevor, it was
- 8:25Speaker 1: William Cohen. I think sala is right for winning Coach
- 8:30Speaker 1: of the Year this year. I do.
- 8:31Speaker 5: We're gonna sprinkle, yes, sprinkle.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Because no one views that team as being very good
- 8:35Speaker 1: headed into the season, and if he exceeds that very
- 8:38Speaker 1: low bar of let's say six or seven wins and
- 8:41Speaker 1: gets him the nine, uh, he's gonna win it.
- 8:43Speaker 3: I'm with Taylor on this. I think Salah is boys.
- 8:46Speaker 5: Yes, there should be an award for meeting expectations.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Really, like, if Sean McVay goes like sixteen and one,
- 8:53Speaker 1: you are like, yeah, that's that's kind of what we thought.
- 8:56Speaker 5: Congratulations, you did exactly what we thought.
- 8:58Speaker 3: So you won the meeting X award. I mean, yes,
- 9:02Speaker 3: what does he get.
- 9:05Speaker 5: A plaque with no name on it?
- 9:06Speaker 1: It's boring.
- 9:09Speaker 5: I mean, yes, it's a boring award.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Yeah, but I don't think a guy should be awarded
- 9:14Speaker 1: for merely meeting expectations. I think he needs to exceed
- 9:17Speaker 1: expectations about that.
- 9:20Speaker 6: Your expectations are that high, right, If there's no way
- 9:24Speaker 6: Sean mcvayh can win Coach of the Year, then he
- 9:27Speaker 6: should be able to win something by doing what we
- 9:30Speaker 6: think he should do.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Has Dave Roberts ever won manager of the Year in baseball?
- 9:34Speaker 4: Perfect examples to how long have the Dodgers been the
- 9:38Speaker 4: standard of baseball since Dave Roberts has been there a
- 9:40Speaker 4: long time. He's won Coach of the Year one time. Okay,
- 9:43Speaker 4: manager of the Year?
- 9:44Speaker 1: Sorry? Right, he can't win it, yeah, I mean he
- 9:48Speaker 1: just can't. He can't win it unless he goes one
- 9:51Speaker 1: sixty two and oh.
- 9:52Speaker 4: And it's because, yes, it's because they're looking for whoever
- 9:55Speaker 4: is managing the Pirates to go five hundred and give
- 9:58Speaker 4: him the award.
- 10:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:01Speaker 4: Marlins, the Marlins manager is always is always in contention
- 10:05Speaker 4: for Coach.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Of the Year, no question. Yes, I think they've won
- 10:07Speaker 1: it twice. Mattingly won Girardi once Samson fired above.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Ricardo said four times, they've won.
- 10:13Speaker 1: It four times.
- 10:15Speaker 5: He had that off the top of his head.
- 10:17Speaker 4: He knew it, yeah, matting Lee and twenty twenty and
- 10:19Speaker 4: skips Schumacher in twenty three.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Oh, that's right Schumacher. Wait, Girardi won it. No, yeah,
- 10:24Speaker 1: Girardi did win No. Six, Okay, you know six and
- 10:26Speaker 1: then he got fired right yeah, yeah, by Samson.
- 10:30Speaker 4: You should not have more Coach of the or Manager
- 10:33Speaker 4: of the years than World Series titles.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Ooh, that's totally fair. Double yeah.
- 10:42Speaker 3: They have four Managers of the Year awards.
- 10:45Speaker 1: They have two World Series championships, two of them since
- 10:48Speaker 1: nineteen ninety seven. That lousy organization. Go ahead and count
- 10:52Speaker 1: the amount of teams in Major League Baseball that have
- 10:55Speaker 1: won two World Series championships since ninety seven. I'm guessing
- 11:00Speaker 1: it's like five, maybe less. But so what is your
- 11:04Speaker 1: point here that you can't win You can't have double
- 11:07Speaker 1: the amounts of Manager of the Year awards as opposed
- 11:10Speaker 1: to World Series trophies.
- 11:12Speaker 4: You would think that if you had four Managers of
- 11:14Speaker 4: the year, he'd be better, you'd be better, a better organization. Right,
- 11:18Speaker 4: But again, again that just goes to the point that
- 11:20Speaker 4: manager of the Year, Coach of the Year, it's a
- 11:22Speaker 4: sham award.
- 11:23Speaker 1: It is it's based on expectations headed into the season.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I mean, naturally the Brewers manager this year would be
- 11:30Speaker 1: the manager of the year, right, or maybe Craig Council.
- 11:32Speaker 4: Yeah, that's another great franchise that always gets managers of
- 11:35Speaker 4: the year, the Browers. It has to be like a
- 11:39Speaker 4: small market team.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Because getting to the postseason is just enough, right.
- 11:44Speaker 4: Like a Yankee, a met, a Red Sox, few and
- 11:49Speaker 4: far between. Those those types of organizations are gonna win
- 11:52Speaker 4: coach of the Year.
- 11:53Speaker 1: I will tell you the Red Sox they got rid
- 11:54Speaker 1: of their manager early in the season, right, they replaced
- 11:57Speaker 1: him with whom that guy might win Manager of the year. Whoever.
- 12:01Speaker 4: That guy is Chad Tracy.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Tracy, I mean that guy is in line for a
- 12:06Speaker 3: manager of the Year award.
- 12:07Speaker 6: I'm telling you, I feel like those big markets they
- 12:11Speaker 6: need to, like behind the scenes, win two or three
- 12:13Speaker 6: before they actually get one. Like Joe Tory, you were
- 12:17Speaker 6: the best manager last year, you're the best manager this year.
- 12:20Speaker 6: You do it again next year and we'll give you
- 12:21Speaker 6: Manager of the Year.
- 12:23Speaker 4: So I'm looking at the odds right now, Stu. Yes,
- 12:25Speaker 4: Chad Tracy is actually second for al manager of the
- 12:28Speaker 4: year odds from the Red Sox.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Who's first the White Sox the White Sox.
- 12:34Speaker 5: Expectations.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
- 12:40Speaker 2: Live weekdaycent three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific on Fox
- 12:44Speaker 2: Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Taylor has a nominee for the quietest move that was
- 12:53Speaker 1: made in the offseason that could have a massive impact
- 12:56Speaker 1: on this NFL season.
- 12:58Speaker 3: How about that, Mikey, We are getting close to ball.
- 13:00Speaker 4: Yes, So I was looking at the list of the
- 13:04Speaker 4: biggest moves and there was one very clearly towards the
- 13:09Speaker 4: top that I feel I didn't get the attention it
- 13:12Speaker 4: necessarily deserved in terms of the level of impact. Yes,
- 13:16Speaker 4: And when I'm thinking about it, the Dolphins offense was
- 13:19Speaker 4: so bad last year that people seem to have forgotten
- 13:23Speaker 4: just how good Jalen Waddle can be, Which is why
- 13:27Speaker 4: my quietest move that can make the biggest impact is
- 13:31Speaker 4: Jalen Waddle going to Denver, where I think he has
- 13:34Speaker 4: a chance to have a massive season in Denver because
- 13:36Speaker 4: he finally enters an offense that's built to maximize what
- 13:39Speaker 4: he does best, where he still had nine hundred and
- 13:42Speaker 4: ten yards last season for the Dolphins in a struggling offense,
- 13:46Speaker 4: and now he gets Sean Payton, who can kind of
- 13:48Speaker 4: get his speed and explosiveness all over the formation. And
- 13:51Speaker 4: he's across from Courtland Sutton.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Now right, Mikey says, we're talking quiet moves here. I'm
- 13:57Speaker 1: wondering if when we get to the actual move, the
- 13:59Speaker 1: trail in action, we should whisper it. You know you
- 14:02Speaker 1: should whisper You want to try it again with Jalen
- 14:07Speaker 1: Waddle to the Broncos. I think it's Jayalen Wattle going
- 14:12Speaker 1: to Denver Broncos because, yes, Bonnicks as a legitimate field
- 14:17Speaker 1: stretcher who could also turn short throws into explosive plays.
- 14:22Speaker 1: It's stranger voice, yes, And if bon Nicks could take
- 14:25Speaker 1: another step and Sean bon consistently can scheme Wattle into space, yes,
- 14:30Speaker 1: I think Jayleen Wattle could re establish himself as one
- 14:33Speaker 1: of the NFL's most explosive receivers. He's bad at whispering.
- 14:39Speaker 4: It was weird.
- 14:41Speaker 1: That is an odd thing that Jalen Wattle would be
- 14:44Speaker 1: moved from the Dolphins to the Broncos. Jayleen Wattle is
- 14:47Speaker 1: a great wide receiver in the NFL, and Taylor's right,
- 14:50Speaker 1: it kind of flew under the radar. How about that?
- 14:52Speaker 4: I mean, and with it with the Denver Broncos. The
- 14:55Speaker 4: Denver Broncos are in the Super Bowl last year. If
- 14:58Speaker 4: Bonnicks doesn't get it hurt correct, Because that ten to
- 15:02Speaker 4: seven AFC Championship game against New England, when they had
- 15:05Speaker 4: Jared Stidham starting in the second half, what was a snowstorm.
- 15:09Speaker 4: That game was sneakily one of the worst playoff games
- 15:11Speaker 4: of all time.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Yes, yes, by the way, yes, it was just one
- 15:16Speaker 1: of the worst, one of the worst. We all noticed it,
- 15:18Speaker 1: we saw it.
- 15:20Speaker 4: There was something about the allure of like Drake May
- 15:23Speaker 4: and like the Patriots going back to the Super Bowl,
- 15:27Speaker 4: where it felt like there was some hype to it,
- 15:30Speaker 4: but if you like really digest the numbers, it was
- 15:33Speaker 4: kind of just a trend of Drake May underperforming in
- 15:37Speaker 4: the playoffs.
- 15:39Speaker 6: I remember we spent a week trying to convince ourselves
- 15:42Speaker 6: that Jared Stidham could do this. Yes, we spent a
- 15:44Speaker 6: week having everybody on who's like, you know, Jared Stidham's
- 15:47Speaker 6: been around, he's a guy who knows the offense, and
- 15:50Speaker 6: he's probably not gonna do too bad, I think.
- 15:53Speaker 5: And they lost.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Ten sem Yes, even that we did that, knowing that
- 15:56Speaker 3: he couldn't do it, we still did it.
- 15:58Speaker 4: I mean to be fair to Jared Stidham and the
- 16:01Speaker 4: people that we had on that were trying to convince
- 16:03Speaker 4: us when you lose ten to seven, Yes, and there
- 16:06Speaker 4: was no offense in the entire seat.
- 16:08Speaker 1: He did his job, He kept him in the game.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I mean, the entire second hand ragged it into the mud.
- 16:12Speaker 1: I mean that game was essentially whoever's up at halftime
- 16:16Speaker 1: is going to be the winner of this game because
- 16:18Speaker 1: the conditions are going to be so bad and denver
- 16:21Speaker 1: that neither offense will be able to move the football.
- 16:24Speaker 1: And I think Jared Stidham just got the short end
- 16:27Speaker 1: of the stick. That the Broncos were down at halftime.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Yep, you can't spell stick without the st and Stidham.
- 16:33Speaker 1: How about that? What a ridiculous thing. So I just
- 16:37Speaker 1: want to be clear on what it is you're saying here, Okay,
- 16:40Speaker 1: I just want to be clear that we were all
- 16:42Speaker 1: so happy and emotional that the Patriots had gotten back
- 16:45Speaker 1: to a super Bowl because everyone wants to see the
- 16:48Speaker 1: Patriots in the super Bowl so badly that we forgot
- 16:51Speaker 1: what a lousy game we just watched and.
- 16:53Speaker 4: There was like the built in excuse with the snow
- 16:56Speaker 4: where it was like, Drake May very clearly after the
- 16:59Speaker 4: super was playing pretty banged up. But I think because
- 17:03Speaker 4: of that snow game in the AFC Championship game, we
- 17:05Speaker 4: kind of just looked past it and said, Oh, Drake
- 17:08Speaker 4: May hasn't been that good against the Chargers in the playoff,
- 17:10Speaker 4: Drake May hasn't been that good against the Patriots in
- 17:13Speaker 4: the playoffs. Then he gets the snow game. It felt
- 17:16Speaker 4: like people kind of forgetting and trying to distance themselves
- 17:19Speaker 4: from Drake May having a very underwhelming postseason.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Sure you mentioned the Dolphins earlier. How many wins does
- 17:26Speaker 1: Jeff Hafley need to get to to be Coach of
- 17:29Speaker 1: the Year three?
- 17:32Speaker 5: Coach of the Year three?
- 17:33Speaker 1: Key, I mean the bar is set so low for
- 17:35Speaker 1: this team. Yes, if he gets the six he will
- 17:38Speaker 1: win Coach of.
- 17:39Speaker 4: The Year in a runaway. Yeah, the first ever unanimous
- 17:42Speaker 4: Coach of the Year voting.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Iban once he gets the six wins, if he gets
- 17:45Speaker 1: there in week twelve, they'll give it to him right
- 17:47Speaker 1: after the game of that undefeated undefeated Sean paid.
- 17:52Speaker 5: Sean McVay is voting for.
- 17:55Speaker 1: You see what that guy did, right, mcveighs that team
- 17:58Speaker 1: Mcveigh's twelve and zero afletely is six and six. He's like,
- 18:01Speaker 1: give him the award.
- 18:02Speaker 4: So how do you guys feel about joint practices and
- 18:05Speaker 4: reporters at joint practice.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I mean, I don't care.
- 18:10Speaker 3: I don't I've never really thought about it, to be
- 18:11Speaker 3: honest with.
- 18:12Speaker 4: You, you never really think about it until one reporter
- 18:17Speaker 4: or our team's reporters are saying how bad one team
- 18:20Speaker 4: looked in it. Because today I was on social media
- 18:23Speaker 4: and the Giants and the Dolphins are having a joint practice,
- 18:27Speaker 4: and I follow Joe Shadd on Twitter from Palm Beach Post,
- 18:31Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure Joe Shadd pom Beach Post. And I'm
- 18:34Speaker 4: reading Joe Shad's tweets and the way he is depicting
- 18:38Speaker 4: the Miami Dolphins football team this season. I was getting
- 18:41Speaker 4: ready to race to put put money on the under
- 18:44Speaker 4: Where this is all within a string of let's say
- 18:48Speaker 4: forty five minutes.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Okay, these are the text You're gonna give us the
- 18:51Speaker 1: whole text string here, Yeah, I mean the the tweets, tweets.
- 18:54Speaker 1: I'm tax I'm texting you for some reason.
- 18:56Speaker 3: You and Schad cutting it up about that.
- 18:58Speaker 5: I believe it.
- 18:59Speaker 1: I believe it.
- 19:00Speaker 4: So the first tweet that sends the alarms, the Dolphins
- 19:04Speaker 4: offensive line in blocking scheme is off to a very
- 19:06Speaker 4: slow start against a strong Giants defensive front.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Okay, they just got rid of Dexter Lawrence.
- 19:12Speaker 5: Yeah, dex Lawrence not there. Okay.
- 19:14Speaker 4: Next tweet, the Dolphins need their offensive line to be
- 19:18Speaker 4: better than this. This is five minutes later. He tweets
- 19:20Speaker 4: this constant pressure, absolutely nothing in the run game.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Let's keep in mind John Harbaugh treats this like a
- 19:26Speaker 3: super Bowl.
- 19:26Speaker 1: I mean he does.
- 19:29Speaker 6: Yeah, that's the only thing. That's the only saving grace
- 19:31Speaker 6: I'll get for the Dolphins on this. It was a
- 19:33Speaker 6: rave you were going up against the wrong team in
- 19:35Speaker 6: the joint practice I.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Still have as the Ravens coach the Giants coach.
- 19:40Speaker 4: Tweet three here from Joe Shad, this has been a
- 19:43Speaker 4: discouraging practice for the Miami Dolphins offense. Then my favorite one,
- 19:51Speaker 4: he he, he wraps it up, he ties it with
- 19:53Speaker 4: the bow here. This is very ugly for Dolphins offense. First,
- 19:57Speaker 4: Giants d folks, I know I'm sending a lot of
- 20:00Speaker 4: post formally known as tweets, but this is bloody right now.
- 20:07Speaker 1: I think four wins, Mikey.
- 20:10Speaker 6: Maybe I'm sitting here and it's funny because all training camp,
- 20:14Speaker 6: you get the updates and you're like, you know, I
- 20:15Speaker 6: get them for the Jets in eleven on eleven's Gino
- 20:19Speaker 6: Smith was seven for seven with two touchdowns, and you're like, hey, maybe,
- 20:23Speaker 6: and then they have a joint practice and it was
- 20:25Speaker 6: Geno Smith was one for seven with three interceptions and
- 20:29Speaker 6: a screen pass.
- 20:30Speaker 3: I gotta tell you, if the Dolphins don't win that
- 20:32Speaker 3: first game in Las Vegas, it's.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Gonna be a while.
- 20:36Speaker 4: It's a brutal schedule.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Yeah, in San Francisco, after that, Kansas City, Minnesota, Cincinnati,
- 20:43Speaker 1: and then the Jets. Maybe there's a win there.
- 20:47Speaker 4: But I think in part it's a brutal schedule because
- 20:50Speaker 4: it doesn't feel like the Dolphins are setting this team
- 20:53Speaker 4: up for success where you go out and you get
- 20:56Speaker 4: Malik Willis and then your wide receiver corps. Right now,
- 21:00Speaker 4: Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert, Caleb Douglas. Are you're starting three
- 21:05Speaker 4: wide receivers?
- 21:05Speaker 1: You know what, Let's just do it all right. I
- 21:07Speaker 1: have the schedule in front of me. Yep, you ready
- 21:10Speaker 1: for it. We'll get back to Wyris moves in the
- 21:12Speaker 1: offseason in just a second. Here, let's do win loss
- 21:15Speaker 1: with the Dolphins. Okay, let's just try to figure out
- 21:19Speaker 1: how many wins Halfley needs to get to to be
- 21:22Speaker 1: in consideration for NFL Coach of the Year. We'll start
- 21:26Speaker 1: Week one at the Raiders.
- 21:28Speaker 4: That's a loss.
- 21:30Speaker 6: A loss, that's all you. You listen to Fernando Mendoz
- 21:33Speaker 6: and tell me that guy's not winning Week one.
- 21:35Speaker 1: All right? Ohen one at San Francisco Week two, that's
- 21:38Speaker 1: a loss. Kansas City at home Week three, that's a loss.
- 21:45Speaker 5: It's a big loss. That's probably Mahomes's first game back too.
- 21:48Speaker 3: All right, Owen three at Minnesota Week four.
- 21:51Speaker 4: I think this is a loss. But this is one
- 21:53Speaker 4: that you're circling, Yeah, as a maybe game. You you're saying,
- 21:56Speaker 4: we need to get this game right now.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Well, yeah, it's a must win game, right You're playing
- 22:00Speaker 3: off chances are dashed.
- 22:01Speaker 4: Well, I think they're already dashed at this point.
- 22:04Speaker 5: Well they're three Minnesota.
- 22:06Speaker 6: Minnesota's looking at that game as hey, we're gonna go
- 22:08Speaker 6: beat the Dolphins, and the Dolphins are looking at that
- 22:10Speaker 6: game as this is our super Bowl, So this is
- 22:13Speaker 6: this is the best team that we can possibly beat.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Every year a team will lose a game they're supposed
- 22:19Speaker 1: to win, and win a game they're not supposed to win.
- 22:21Speaker 3: The problem is no one's expecting the Dolphins to win
- 22:23Speaker 3: any of these.
- 22:23Speaker 4: I mean, so this team feels eerily similar to that
- 22:26Speaker 4: year that Dominique Foxworth was on ESPN saying that it's
- 22:30Speaker 4: dangerous for the Dolphins players to go out there.
- 22:33Speaker 1: That was the fifteen year one.
- 22:36Speaker 3: In sixteen, they got the win gran Camrio overtime touchdown.
- 22:40Speaker 1: They needed it. So they're owing four, right, Yeah, I
- 22:44Speaker 1: don't care what you guys tell me. I mean, they're
- 22:46Speaker 1: out four. I don't care if it's a must win,
- 22:47Speaker 1: they're gonna lose. Oh and four.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Sure home against the Bengals Week five, that's a loss, and.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Five at the Jets in week six, Week seven, they
- 22:57Speaker 1: have a buying I'm sorry, Well, their first win is
- 22:59Speaker 1: that bybe Okay, Yeah, so they're own six headed into
- 23:03Speaker 1: the bye, but they get the extra rest, all right,
- 23:05Speaker 1: So the Jets at Jets.
- 23:08Speaker 5: For the record, you have them oh and seven. I
- 23:10Speaker 5: still have happily firmly in the coach of the year.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Oh no, doubt right. Just need to get the three
- 23:15Speaker 1: right firmly in the conversations. I means just fine, but somewhere.
- 23:21Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a loss against the Jets. Yeah, that's a loss. Wait,
- 23:25Speaker 4: that's my Mike Frances impression.
- 23:27Speaker 1: By the way, that's a loss.
- 23:28Speaker 4: That's a loss.
- 23:29Speaker 3: All right, So they're own seven home against the Pads.
- 23:35Speaker 4: That's awesome.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Eight home against the Lions.
- 23:38Speaker 4: That's a loss.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Nine at Colts.
- 23:42Speaker 4: Now we're starting to get on history.
- 23:44Speaker 5: Watch hold a second, not a second.
- 23:48Speaker 4: Because this is almost like a perfect game in baseball,
- 23:50Speaker 4: where once you're oh and nine. This is probably the
- 23:54Speaker 4: equivalent of going into the six or seventh game with
- 23:56Speaker 4: a perfect game and everybody starts whispering, like and seventeen
- 23:59Speaker 4: is on the table.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Mikey, you're thinking about this one.
- 24:05Speaker 6: Huh, I'm gonna I'm no, it's a loss. I want
- 24:10Speaker 6: to get like Daniel Jones. Maybe he's hurt.
- 24:13Speaker 5: I don't know. No, No, it's a lost.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a loss.
- 24:16Speaker 4: I think people are also forgetting how good that Colts
- 24:18Speaker 4: team was when Daniel Jones was healthy last season.
- 24:21Speaker 3: By the way, you see Richardson in the preseason.
- 24:24Speaker 4: Yeah, two turnover seats.
- 24:25Speaker 3: I'm not certain they should be rooting for Daniel Jones
- 24:27Speaker 3: to be hurt.
- 24:30Speaker 4: It's terrible. He's such a terrible quarterback.
- 24:31Speaker 1: He really is. He's just average.
- 24:34Speaker 4: He is the classic quarterback that you just watch him
- 24:36Speaker 4: throw one ball and you're like, wow, that's great.
- 24:38Speaker 1: If you look up put it on the Paul Taylor.
- 24:41Speaker 1: If you look up average in the dictionary, will a
- 24:43Speaker 1: picture of Daniel Jones pop up? All right, here we
- 24:48Speaker 1: got Mikey. You're giving the Colts. That's a loss, right,
- 24:52Speaker 1: that's a loss. Okay at Buffalop home against the Jets.
- 24:57Speaker 4: I think this is one. This is the one win.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Yeah, this is that's your one.
- 25:01Speaker 4: Most likely the Jets and the Dolphins will split this.
- 25:04Speaker 3: So what's the record right now? One win and how
- 25:06Speaker 3: many losses?
- 25:07Speaker 4: One and eleven?
- 25:08Speaker 1: One and eleven.
- 25:09Speaker 3: He is two wins away from winning NFL Coach of
- 25:11Speaker 3: the Year at Denver.
- 25:13Speaker 1: That's a loss. That's a loss home against the Bears. Lost,
- 25:17Speaker 1: a loss at Green Bay loss.
- 25:21Speaker 5: Oh, it's a loss home against the Chargers.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Loss. Loss home against Buffalo loss that week seventeen. Yeah, yeah,
- 25:33Speaker 1: Buffalo sits all their starter.
- 25:35Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, no, there's no no, there's another
- 25:37Speaker 3: game after that, So I don't know, I understand.
- 25:39Speaker 1: What you're saying.
- 25:39Speaker 5: All right, then that's a loss.
- 25:41Speaker 1: So the final game, they're at New England. This might
- 25:43Speaker 1: be a scenario where New England has clinched already. You know,
- 25:47Speaker 1: they have a wild card birth they won division and
- 25:49Speaker 1: they play the Dolphins at home.
- 25:51Speaker 6: Nope, See if it was Buffalo, I had just said
- 25:53Speaker 6: they clinched already. Patriots are going to need that game
- 25:55Speaker 6: to get in. Patriots win, all right.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Congratulations to the Dolphins for going one in sixteen this year,
- 26:01Speaker 1: and sorry to Jeff Hafley for not winning a NFL
- 26:03Speaker 1: Coach of the Year.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gotson Company
- 26:08Speaker 2: live weekdays at three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Our thanks to Mike Norvell for joining us in that
- 26:16Speaker 1: last segment. Enjoyed speaking with him. The head coach of
- 26:19Speaker 1: the Florida State Seminals. It is a think about It
- 26:21Speaker 1: Thursday here Oddstu Gottson Company. We'll get to that in
- 26:24Speaker 1: just a second. But Taylor, what is going on with
- 26:27Speaker 1: LaMelo Ball? What is happening there? I mean, I don't
- 26:30Speaker 1: know why we're talking Charlotte Hornet's Wait, he's not a
- 26:32Speaker 1: hornet anymore, Timberwool, he's a tea wolf. Now, I don't
- 26:35Speaker 1: know why we're talking NBA or t Wolves basketball in
- 26:40Speaker 1: August on a day where is he is out? Anyway? Good?
- 26:42Speaker 4: So LaMelo Ball's a league pass guy where anytime he
- 26:46Speaker 4: does something, I want to be notified what he does
- 26:48Speaker 4: because I think LaMelo Ball his brain needs to be
- 26:51Speaker 4: studied going forward. Yeah, so LaMelo Ball gets a player
- 26:55Speaker 4: exclusive shoe. It comes out and interviewer ask him three
- 27:00Speaker 4: people of all time if they could wear your shoe,
- 27:03Speaker 4: who would you pick? And when you're thinking about it,
- 27:05Speaker 4: it's like it's a basketball shoe. So maybe like Michael Jordan,
- 27:09Speaker 4: Lebron James, some of those some of those cliche answers, right.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Right, some all time great basketball players. I would love
- 27:15Speaker 1: for that guy to wear my shoes. That would be
- 27:17Speaker 1: so cool, Right.
- 27:19Speaker 4: That's what you think a normal answer would be. But
- 27:21Speaker 4: as we've learned, there's nothing normal about LaMelo Ball. And
- 27:24Speaker 4: this was LaMelo Ball's answer.
- 27:26Speaker 3: You had to pick three people to wear your shoes,
- 27:29Speaker 3: would they be.
- 27:30Speaker 4: Jesus Martin Luther?
- 27:32Speaker 1: Game novel Nix I mean that's a good three. I
- 27:36Speaker 1: gotta be honest with you. That is a solid Mark
- 27:38Speaker 1: Luther King. I mean, yes, MLK. What do you mean
- 27:42Speaker 1: you got MLK marching going. I have a dream that
- 27:45Speaker 1: one day I will be wearing LaMelo balls.
- 27:49Speaker 5: Now, but you're what he sounded like.
- 27:51Speaker 1: I have a dream. But you're asking LaMelo Ball if
- 27:54Speaker 1: he could choose any three people from history to wear
- 27:59Speaker 1: his shoes, it's his decision, and he is choosing Martin
- 28:02Speaker 1: Luther King. It would be cool.
- 28:04Speaker 3: In fact, I'm not certain I wouldn't choose those three.
- 28:08Speaker 6: He's got Martin Luther King marching just because I'm in man,
- 28:11Speaker 6: my feet are comfortable, I'm good.
- 28:13Speaker 5: I could do this all day.
- 28:15Speaker 4: And Jesus walked on water because he didn't want his
- 28:17Speaker 4: LaMelo balls to get wet.
- 28:21Speaker 1: By the way, put it on the Paul Taylor, do
- 28:23Speaker 1: we need to check Lamello Ball's brain moving forward? Because
- 28:28Speaker 1: I think you're right about that. Now I'm trying to
- 28:31Speaker 1: think of the three people I would want to wear
- 28:33Speaker 1: my shoes. How about that?
- 28:36Speaker 4: It's gotta be Jordan Well.
- 28:38Speaker 1: I'm thinking Russo mad Dog. I'm thinking Francesa as well.
- 28:42Speaker 1: I'm not saying definitively, those are the guys. I'm just
- 28:45Speaker 1: I'm thinking about it.
- 28:47Speaker 4: Jesus is a good one.
- 28:48Speaker 1: I mean the big man, Casey, what are you calling
- 28:54Speaker 1: Doctor King sneakers? Like, what do we call dream big? Yeah?
- 29:03Speaker 1: The dreamers.
- 29:03Speaker 4: Ricardo just offered.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Up, Okay, who was the third one?
- 29:06Speaker 4: Malcolm X Malcolm X Malcolm X.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Wow, Mikey, if three people could wear your sneakers that
- 29:13Speaker 1: you're currently wearing, which three people would you want to
- 29:16Speaker 1: wear your sneakers? It's such a ridiculous question. It should
- 29:21Speaker 1: be the thing about it Thursday.
- 29:23Speaker 6: I mean, this should be to think about it Thursday,
- 29:26Speaker 6: because I really do have to think about it.
- 29:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, Jesus is a great one. I'm gonna
- 29:31Speaker 5: go Sinatra and I'm gonna.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Go just open a whole new portal. Now I'm thinking
- 29:36Speaker 1: Bob Weird, Jerry Garcia wearing my shoes on stage. I mean, wow,
- 29:46Speaker 1: is there a jet No Taylor for you?
- 29:49Speaker 3: It's got to be jaylen Brunson, right, yeah, Jeter all in.
- 29:55Speaker 6: That same old Yeah, yeah, Jeter, Jesus Christ Jeter and
- 30:00Speaker 6: and Frank Sinatra.
- 30:01Speaker 5: Those are my three.
- 30:02Speaker 1: So I applaud LaMelo Ball for giving that answer, because
- 30:05Speaker 1: I know that you want him to give the answer
- 30:08Speaker 1: that you want. He did it. You want Jordan, you
- 30:10Speaker 1: want Kobe, and he went in a different direction. And
- 30:13Speaker 1: it's not like you went in a bad direction. I'm
- 30:15Speaker 1: wondering why you're objecting so much to Jesus Martin, Luther
- 30:19Speaker 1: King and Malcolm X.
- 30:20Speaker 4: I'm not necessarily objecting, but you're you're saying, LaMelo Ball
- 30:24Speaker 4: goes in a different direction. That's the only direction. LaMelo
- 30:26Speaker 4: ball goes in another direction?
- 30:29Speaker 1: Put it on the poll? Is the only direction LaMelo
- 30:34Speaker 1: ball goes in? Is the other direction? Is that the
- 30:36Speaker 1: only direction? He goes in the other direction. It's a
- 30:39Speaker 1: tough one. It's tough to word it out anyway. Let's
- 30:42Speaker 1: get to a think about it Thursday, Iowa, Sam, give
- 30:44Speaker 1: me the image.
- 30:47Speaker 5: You know that segment?
- 30:48Speaker 2: Talk about it Tuesday on Hawkmann Crowder in Soleiro. This
- 30:52Speaker 2: is like that, but bigger, bigger and better, better, better,
- 30:56Speaker 2: and forty eight hours later, this is think about it Thursday.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Let me rephrase that bull up question before we get
- 31:06Speaker 1: to think about it Thursday. Okay, is the wrong direction
- 31:12Speaker 1: the only direction Lamela Ball goes in? Put it on?
- 31:20Speaker 1: All right?
- 31:20Speaker 4: What are we thinking about it, think about it Thursday
- 31:23Speaker 4: this week, which player in the NFL is entering this
- 31:27Speaker 4: season with the biggest chip on their shoulders?
- 31:30Speaker 3: Obviously really always the same guy.
- 31:36Speaker 5: Tom Brady's not playing anymore.
- 31:38Speaker 1: I wasn't thinking about Brady. I'm gonna say Baker Mayfield. Now.
- 31:44Speaker 3: Whether it's real or not, it doesn't really matter.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I mean, he's upset because the Buccaneers merely offered him
- 31:49Speaker 1: one hundred million dollars over two years, and he's gonna
- 31:52Speaker 1: use that as fuel for the season. But he will
- 31:54Speaker 1: manufacture a ship unlike anyone I've ever seen in the
- 31:57Speaker 1: history of sports.
- 31:58Speaker 4: I mean. So, my two nominees for players that are
- 32:01Speaker 4: entering the season with the biggest chip on their shoulder
- 32:03Speaker 4: Patrick Mahomes coming back from an injury. It feels like
- 32:06Speaker 4: people are writing off this Chiefs team already, and Patrick
- 32:09Speaker 4: Mahomes is probably thinking it's a good one. I still
- 32:12Speaker 4: have a lot left in the tank for this Chiefs
- 32:14Speaker 4: team to be in our super Bowl window. The other
- 32:17Speaker 4: one kind of going off the board here a bit
- 32:20Speaker 4: because he won a Super Bowl last season. I think
- 32:23Speaker 4: Sam Darnold still kind of has a chip on his
- 32:25Speaker 4: shoulder because one believe.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean I said it yesterday, one of the
- 32:28Speaker 1: worst takes in the history of sports radio that Seattle,
- 32:31Speaker 1: who won the Super Bowl last year, would not make
- 32:33Speaker 1: the playoffs this year.
- 32:34Speaker 4: They are the defending champions. And it seems like when
- 32:38Speaker 4: you're talking about the Seattle Seahawks, it's like, yeah, their
- 32:41Speaker 4: team is really good. But did you see what the
- 32:44Speaker 4: Rams did this off? Here come the forty nine ers.
- 32:48Speaker 4: If the forty nine ers could stay healthy.
- 32:50Speaker 1: With all due respect to the Seahawks, and I know
- 32:52Speaker 1: they're looking for it still after winning a Super Bowl championship,
- 32:56Speaker 1: but the Rams did go out and get Miles Garrett
- 32:58Speaker 1: and they're about to sign Aaron Donald. I mean they
- 33:01Speaker 1: also got Trent McDuffie, and no one talks about him
- 33:04Speaker 1: because they got Garrett and Donald's subserve what they did.
- 33:10Speaker 5: You got one, Mike, I got two. I got too.
- 33:13Speaker 5: We'll start with c J. Stroud.
- 33:15Speaker 4: C J.
- 33:15Speaker 6: Stroud has been told for years that he's on a
- 33:19Speaker 6: championship defense and the only reason they're not winning is him.
- 33:24Speaker 1: I like that A good one. It's a good one.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Also pressure and here he's got pressure on his shoulder
- 33:29Speaker 1: as well.
- 33:29Speaker 5: Yes, and here's my other one.
- 33:32Speaker 6: Imagine giving your heart and soul to an organization for
- 33:36Speaker 6: them to trade you. For the trade to be like that,
- 33:38Speaker 6: never mind, you're going back where you were. Max Crosby,
- 33:42Speaker 6: big chip on his shoulder this year.
- 33:44Speaker 1: I like that. That's a good one. That is a
- 33:46Speaker 1: good one.
- 33:46Speaker 4: Wow, I didn't even consider Max Crosby. I just thought
- 33:49Speaker 4: of another one too, And it's two players. It's a
- 33:51Speaker 4: dual chip, and it's it's a deciding rare. Yeah, it's
- 33:55Speaker 4: deciding who's gonna have the bigger chip because they're both
- 33:57Speaker 4: trying to prove the other one right.
- 33:59Speaker 1: A couple of chips got it up.
- 34:00Speaker 4: So this is a situation of a breakup, and once
- 34:03Speaker 4: you have a breakup, both people are kind of competing
- 34:06Speaker 4: to see who can win the breakup. Jalen Hurts with
- 34:10Speaker 4: the Eagles, Yeah, AJ Brown with the Patriots. I think
- 34:13Speaker 4: both of those players are going into the season on
- 34:16Speaker 4: their shoulder to say, chips, where are the ones that
- 34:19Speaker 4: were making it work for.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Monster chips? I'm both their shoulders. It's exceptional. Baker Mayfield,
- 34:28Speaker 1: you know it's it's it's it's really.
- 34:31Speaker 6: Good Baker Mayfield to put a chip on his shoulder
- 34:35Speaker 6: because you didn't say he had the biggest chip on
- 34:37Speaker 6: his shoulder.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Yeah, can you go with a coach?
- 34:40Speaker 4: Yeah you can, of course, Again, of course, I.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Think Dan Campbell enters this season with a chip on
- 34:46Speaker 1: his shoulder, a great one. You know, everyone's starting to
- 34:48Speaker 1: question whether or not he's a good coach. He was
- 34:50Speaker 1: the bell of the ball a couple of years ago.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Everyone wanted them to be their head coach, and now
- 34:54Speaker 1: everyone's starting to question whether he's just a meadthead playing
- 34:57Speaker 1: the role of head coach. And I think Dan can
- 35:00Speaker 1: for those. I think he's a very good coach and
- 35:02Speaker 1: a great guy. And I think he enters this season
- 35:04Speaker 1: with something to prove. And when you have something to prove,
- 35:06Speaker 1: that means you have a chip on your shoulder. How
- 35:07Speaker 1: about that?
- 35:08Speaker 3: Did you guys see the news on James Harden? Has
- 35:10Speaker 3: anyone seen that news?
- 35:12Speaker 5: Big deal?
- 35:13Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, that's some that's hard to read right. Well,
- 35:18Speaker 1: I told Mikey about the deal during the break. I
- 35:20Speaker 1: said three years, roughly ninety seven million dollars, And Mikey
- 35:24Speaker 1: made the face you made when you drink spoiled milk.
- 35:27Speaker 1: And I believe that's how the Cavaliers presented that that
- 35:31Speaker 1: contract that offer to James Harden, like, hey, this is
- 35:35Speaker 1: something because you open the fridge and there's milk, and
- 35:38Speaker 1: you know it's spoiled, but you have to have milk
- 35:40Speaker 1: because you're you know, you're eating cereal. It's breakfast on
- 35:43Speaker 1: and so you have to use that milk. And James
- 35:45Speaker 1: Harden has spoiled milk that you have to use. And
- 35:48Speaker 1: so I imagine the Calves approached it that way. We
- 35:51Speaker 1: don't want to give this to you. I don't want
- 35:53Speaker 1: to drink you, but I have to drink you. James Harden.
- 35:56Speaker 6: Yeah, I call it the fart in the car when
- 36:00Speaker 6: you're in the car with somebody and all of a
- 36:02Speaker 6: sudden you get that that whiff and you're just you
- 36:04Speaker 6: just look over and sorry, it's it's it's a terrible,
- 36:08Speaker 6: terrible deal.
- 36:09Speaker 3: And you're saying, that's always coming from Harden.
- 36:11Speaker 1: That's Harden.
- 36:12Speaker 3: Yes he is the fart. Put it on the poll.
- 36:16Speaker 1: There's hard in the fart.
- 36:17Speaker 4: This feels like a solid between the Calves and James
- 36:21Speaker 4: Harden because James Harden declined a forty two point three
- 36:25Speaker 4: million dollar player option before this offseason in hopes that
- 36:29Speaker 4: the Calves could add Lebron James. And then once they
- 36:32Speaker 4: don't get Lebron James, it's like, hey, remember that solid
- 36:35Speaker 4: I did you? It's time for you to scratch my back.
- 36:38Speaker 4: Here's a deal worth thirty two million a year.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Yep, they could have added Lebron James if James Harden
- 36:43Speaker 3: wasn't there.
- 36:45Speaker 1: He's the problem. He's a fart.
- 36:47Speaker 3: I mean, anyway, what's going on with his ESPN notification here?
- 36:51Speaker 1: Mikey?
- 36:52Speaker 6: I love ESPN notifications, especially around like trade deadlines and
- 36:57Speaker 6: like free agency and stuff.
- 36:59Speaker 1: But every once in a while you get one of
- 37:00Speaker 1: You're like, why do I need to know this?
- 37:02Speaker 6: And at ten o'clock the other night, I get this
- 37:05Speaker 6: ESPN new Oklahoma State football coach Eric Morris shoots and
- 37:10Speaker 6: kills an armadillo in his yard.
- 37:12Speaker 3: Huh, well, Mike Gundy's no longer there?
- 37:17Speaker 5: How about that?
- 37:19Speaker 1: That's all I thought?
- 37:20Speaker 5: Maybe that's how they announced it. Maybe that's all I
- 37:23Speaker 5: was missing.
- 37:23Speaker 1: Wait, so that's I don't know. I feel like that's
- 37:25Speaker 1: that's a good notification. That's a notification I would want.
- 37:29Speaker 1: I mean, when does that ever happen? Why do I care?
- 37:34Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, so turn them off when
- 37:37Speaker 1: you go to sleep? Are you in sleep mode?
- 37:38Speaker 2: Like?
- 37:38Speaker 1: What do you do?
- 37:40Speaker 5: Okay? No, it was ten o'clock, not eleven. Eleven is
- 37:43Speaker 5: when I go sleep mode?
- 37:44Speaker 1: Taylor? Do you go sleep mode?
- 37:46Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 37:46Speaker 1: Oh?
- 37:47Speaker 4: The second Yankee game, the second Yankee game goes final.
- 37:50Speaker 4: I'm sleeping within like five minutes, Mikey.
- 37:54Speaker 1: On a night where there's no Yankee game, keep in
- 37:56Speaker 1: mind who I'm talking about here. This is a person
- 37:58Speaker 1: open bar and a wedding. He got a Shirley temple.
- 38:01Speaker 1: He's not a big party here. We don't have to
- 38:02Speaker 1: worry about Taylor not showing up. He's going to be here.
- 38:05Speaker 1: He's not getting in trouble. He's a great kid, all right.
- 38:08Speaker 1: But on a non Yankee night, okay, where there's no game,
- 38:11Speaker 1: what's on? Do you imagine him going to sleep?
- 38:16Speaker 5: It depends.
- 38:17Speaker 6: Did he catch the seven to ten showing up the
- 38:18Speaker 6: new Paul Patrol movie or something.
- 38:20Speaker 5: But he ride his bike to the theater and watch that.
- 38:24Speaker 3: I have him sleeping my nine.
- 38:25Speaker 1: I mean he's thirty one.
- 38:28Speaker 4: No, I'm a lingerer on the couch, are you?
- 38:30Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 38:30Speaker 4: I just linger on the couch. I'll I'll normally get
- 38:33Speaker 4: fixated on a show like right now. I just watched
- 38:36Speaker 4: my first season as Survivor ever Yeah, and I'm locked in.
- 38:39Speaker 4: I love that show now?
- 38:40Speaker 1: Really yeah?
- 38:41Speaker 5: Is it season one?
- 38:42Speaker 6: No?
- 38:43Speaker 4: I started on one of the most recent seasons.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Have you gotten the Samson season yet?
- 38:48Speaker 6: No?
- 38:48Speaker 4: Very quick appearance in and out for first one out
- 38:51Speaker 4: the Door.
- 38:51Speaker 3: If you miss the first episode, you'll miss him.
- 38:54Speaker 4: Look a cup of coffee. He could be standing right
- 38:57Speaker 4: in front of you and you'd miss him. My new
- 38:59Speaker 4: goal is to apply for being on Survivor. I think
- 39:02Speaker 4: I would. I think I would do well on that show.
- 39:04Speaker 1: You think you would dominate Survivor the way you would
- 39:06Speaker 1: dominate Bob Goosey.
- 39:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I would dominate everything.
- 39:11Speaker 3: We'll talk to you guys tomorrow.
