- Molly: Hello and welcome to Bona and Mira Tarot, the delightfully irresponsible little sibling of Bona and Mira Tarot. My name is Molly and each week three Tarot cards will enter this podcast. One will get fucked, one married and one will get pushed off a cliff. It's childish, it is completely subjective and it is surprisingly revealing. Because if you know me and you know Bona Mira Tarot, you'll know that I don't believe that the tarot is about predicting the future. It's a mirror, a way of meeting yourself through symbolism, psychology, embodiment, and the wisdom of the cards. And Bona and Mira Tarot takes exactly the same approach, just with a lot more giggling. So in just 15 minutes, we'll put three tarot archetypes through the highly scientific and deeply philosophical game of fuck, marry, push off a cliff. Which archetype deserves your undying devotion? Which one's worth a passionate fling? And which one absolutely needs to get into the sea? Along the way, we'll explore what the cards reveal about attraction, avoidance, projection, shadow, values, and the wonderfully strange way we make meaning. Expect depth psychology, archetypes, embodiment, the odd tantric tangents, and plenty of opportunities to laugh at yourself. No fortune telling, no spiritual perfection, just three cards, one ridiculous dilemma and whatever they happen to reveal. So whether you're here for the psychology, the tarot or your own deeply irrational grudge against the Seven of Cups, welcome to Bona and Mirra Tarot. Let's shuffle the cards, suspend our dignity and see who's getting married today. Welcome and hello everybody. I am so excited to have you all with us today. in today's episode I am absolutely delighted and honoured to have Maggie as a guest. So a big welcome to you, Maggie. would you like to introduce yourself? maggie: Yeah, hi, I'm Maggie. No. Molly: Yeah. maggie: thanks for having me, Molly. I am really excited to be here and play with some cards. Molly: Absolutely. Do you wanna tell me a little bit about your journey with the tarot, what it is you do? I'd love to hear a little bit more. maggie: Yeah, I feel like it's hard to summarize, but I think the thing that I can say pretty efficiently is that I like to think out loud and create with Tarot and connect with Tarot. So I do a lot of like doodling and mind mapping with Tarot and I post a lot of that on Instagram. I you know, do a little newsletter on a Substack and do a lot of writing. Like I'm really interested in how tarot is this like amazing anchor that pulls together so many different people and so many different like domains and disciplines and it's just like this versatile, super fun, super powerful tool. So I dabble with a lot of different things. Molly: Hmm, thank you so much. if you're listening, maggie: Yeah. Molly: please do go and check Maggie's work out. I was am absolutely in love with all the graphics and the doodles that you do, and it always seems to be perfect moment that I see on Instagram and I'm like, maggie: Yeah. Molly: huh, yeah, click like, click share, that is so me right now. so yeah, very grateful. And as we know, this is a short, snappy podcast, so I think we should just sling some cards. You feel in? Yeah. Cool. So, maggie: Yeah, let's do it. Let's do it. Get get out. Molly: here come the cards. the deck that I'm gonna be using is my absolute go to, which is the Lightseers, by Chris Ann. and I'm gonna pull three cards and we're gonna play the classic game. and I don't know if I've I mean, I've played this quite a lot because I love this game. I don't know if you've played Fuck Mary Push Off a Cliff in a while. Is that maggie: It's it's been a minute. Like honestly, it's been it's been a minute. So this is gonna be Molly: Okay. maggie: very entertaining. I'm excited to see how my taste has evolved. Molly: Okay, I'm excited. Right, let's pull some cards. Here we go. Okay, one flew out at me. So we're gonna we're gonna go for that one. okay. Before maggie: the suspense skill. Molly: we started recording, I was like, I really want three majors to come out. And then I was like, that's definitely not gonna happen because you know, because that's the way the tarot works. And we didn't, we got all minors, as I very much suspected. so we have fuck. Mary Push Off a Cliff. The Three of Pentacles. Hmm. The Eight of Cups. Or and you kinda called this one I think the Ten of Swords. maggie: man, what do we do with that one? Molly: I don't know. What is what's kind of your initial thoughts? maggie: man. run down again. What we got three of pen three of pentacles. Yep. Molly: Three of Pentacles, Eight of Cups, and Ten of Swords. maggie: I instantly wanted to push the three of pentacles off the cliff. Molly: tell me more. maggie: I know. I just feel like it's too positive. Molly: Sometimes I do feel like the Three of Pentacles is a little bit wanky, you know? It's like, maggie: Yeah, like you know. Molly: look at us working together and I'm like, I maggie: Yeah. Molly: hate working in groups. Leave me alone. maggie: Yeah, that's it. I'm like, this is my angst coming out maybe. Like I don't I need some more like suffering or like I don't know. I need some more texture. Molly: Mm, I feel like I can't imagine marrying a Three of Pentacles. You know, like they I feel like a partner who is a Three of Pentacles would be quite I you know like I am imagining them like holding their hand up being like, let's just work through this together. And I don't know why that gives me the ick. Yeah maggie: Okay, so we're on the same page with this one a little bit. Molly: I don't know whether I would push it off a cliff, but I know that I definitely wouldn't marry it. So maggie: Okay. Yeah, it's just it's too collaborative. Like I think this is like you're saying, I would imagine I would not I wouldn't marry it either. It's also I'm just like hold on, I'm channeling what this would be like. Cause we're if I'm pushing it off the cliff, then I'm left with Mary, right? Or Fox. Molly: Yeah, you're left with Fuck Fuck and Marry either the Eight of Cups or the Ten of Swords. maggie: Yeah, so this is where I'm now like, shit. but I think it would be I think if we were gonna fuck the the three of pentacles for me, I don't think that would do it either 'cause I think that that's just like if we're going literally there's too many bodies in the room. Molly: But is that an exciting threesome? I was literally gonna say, is that an exciting threesome? I don't know. Is that what it's pointing maggie: I don't think so. Molly: towards? maggie: I think that there would be like a lot of talk about like camera angles and stuff too. Like it's giving like too collaborative. Like if this is like they feel like you know, somebody would want to like, I don't know, film it or like someone's taking notes as they're watching and people are tagging like there's just too much happening in the bedroom if we're fucking the three of of pentacles. Molly: I also feel like the Three of Pentacles would be someone that asks you for feedback after like you've had sex. They'll be like, maggie: Yes, yes. Molly: So how is that for you? Like, have you got any notes? And I'm saying all of this and I do actually really value somebody who's very open and honest when it comes to like intimacy. so maggie: Hundred percent. Molly: so I'm very open to having conversations about like, okay, I kind of like this, I didn't like this. However, I I don't know, I just get this feeling that someone's gonna be like, you know, it's just happened. We're laying there and they're like, So how was that? So how was that? maggie: Well that's you're doing a better job of describing it because this is like I was listening to the words come come out of my mouth and I'm like, I'm low key like a relationship anarchist. Like I'm the most like explicit and like direct conversation person when it comes to this stuff. So I'm very much am with you. Like I love consent Molly: Mm. maggie: and conversation, but you are doing you are hitting on the point where it's like, no, I don't wanna like instantly start, you know, the the breakdown. yeah, no. Molly: Mm. And I I find it really interesting because you kind of spoke about relationship anarchy. Like I tend to be poly leaning, so like maggie: Yep. Molly: quite relationship anarchy as well. And so maggie: Yep. Molly: i if if you'd said to me like which card represents poly, like maybe the three of pentacles would. but immediately I'm like, no, ill, get out of the way. so maggie: There's something about like the dungeon stone vibes too. I'm just thinking the ri like rider weight, not the light Molly: Mm. maggie: series that you just pulled that's like not doing. So I I think I'm still pushing it off the cliff. Molly: Okay, we'll push it off the cliff for now, and then we maggie: Okay. Molly: will see what happens with the other two. maggie: All right. Molly: So if we're left with the Eight of Cups and the Ten of Swords, and the choices are fuck one, marry the other, what maggie: Yeah. Molly: is what's what what you feeling? maggie: Okay, so I think I have this solidified now. It's it's coming clear for me. So I think I'm going to I'm gonna marry the Eight of Cups. Molly: Mmm, okay. Tell me. Tell me why. maggie: yeah. you know, I feel like the Eight of Cups has a little bit of independent spirit to it, a little bit of not afraid to like venture out potentially, and see what's going on. I think that people might be like looking at this and being like, Well, it looks like they're just probably like abandoning you, like they're gonna walk away from you. But I feel like it's more of like, That venturing out in search of something that is satisfying for them and like potentially returning to the partnership. Molly: Yeah. maggie: so I feel like those are the kind of people that I appreciate where we don't have to be like codependent and tangled and like there is room for both of us to explore. And I feel like the eight of cups gives that a little bit more than the ten of swords. Molly: Hmm. I like for me the Eight of Cups is actually one of my favourite cards and I maggie: Mm. Molly: the way that I tend to describe it is like you're offered a pretty shit situation and actually like it's gonna hurt to stay and it's gonna maggie: Mm. Molly: hurt to walk away. But actually through the development of the suit of the cups, you've gathered enough strength and enough value, you've been through, you know, you've been through the Four of Cups, you've been through the the The grief of the maggie: Yeah. Molly: five, you've learned through the six. So you then have that strength. maggie: yeah. Molly: You have that strength to say, I value myself enough to walk away from something even though it's going to be hard. And I think that's what I would also value in a in like a lifelong partner is someone that has that capacity to really put in strong boundaries, to also know when it's time to walk away from things. And that's not necessarily from the marriage or from the relationship. maggie: Mm. Molly: But someone that has a really strong sense of self and is like, hey, this job isn't working for me, it's not making me happy, so I'm gonna walk away, rather than someone that holds on too tightly to things. So maggie: Yes. Molly: I I feel like we're kind of saying the same thing, if n like it just in slightly different words. maggie: We are. You you picked up on like the I like how you talked about the pre sort of like the the foundation that needs to be be built in order to be the eight of cups, right? and I think that that was kind of I was picturing the eight of cups in the moment as the person, but I think what you're teasing out with your explanation is like the values and the kind of like person you have to be in order to embody the eight of cups. And that I'm into, precisely for what you said, right? That I think Molly: Mm, yeah. maggie: yeah, it is someone who is they're not gonna necessarily conform or hang out or sit around if something isn't serving them. And I think there's safety in that too, now that I'm like really we're I'm talking about that, right? Like I think if I'm gonna marry somebody, I wanna know that they want to be there, right? Yes. Molly: Mm. A hundred Yeah, and they're there because they th they they love you, they think that it's worth it, that you're serving not serving them, God, that's that that that's a different category that we can go into maggie: Yes. Molly: next. But like the the the relationship is built on truth and honesty that you choose to be with each other all the time rather than not leaving because you're scared or not leaving because you feel like I'm not gonna be someone without s you know, this person, which isn't you know, I've I've been there, I've been in a relationship where I've stayed for too long because I was fearful of the pain that it would take to to walk away. And actually maggie: Mm. Molly: I value that that truth and that honesty and that kind of yeah, the Eight of Cups is evolved. That that is an evolved person to be with. Mm. maggie: Y that's the word. Yes. Yeah, that yeah, you're not they will tell you, right? I I Molly: Yeah. maggie: imagine they're being in conversation, if they wanted to to leave, right? I yeah, I like that. I like that. Molly: Yeah. Yeah. And a good conversation as well, right? Like a a really loving, kind, you know, de escalation rather than a, you know, ghosting. Mm. maggie: Yeah. What do they call it a couple a conscious decoupling or something? I think that was like Molly: That that is a hundred percent the Eight of Cups, I think. Yeah. So that leaves us with we're fucking the Ten of Swords. maggie: Which I think is fine. I feel fine about that. Molly: Yeah. How do like how do you imagine that that would go? I maggie: Mm-hmm. Molly: can't imagine it. I'm struggling. I'm maggie: I'm like mechanically or like Molly: I I'm trying to think of the type of person that that would be. And so I'm with you, I'm totally firm on the Eight of Cups as being a marriage. I'm now trying to decide whether the like the kind of ick that I got from the Three of Pentacles is enough to push off the cliff versus a ten of swords. Y you tell me you tell me what you're thinking. maggie: Okay. I don't I feel like the Ten of Swords I mean it's well I'm thinking I'm thinking a little unorthodox here, which is not surprising for me. I'm thinking of like the Ten of Swords and it's like kind of this card that is it signifies an ending, right? Like just sort of this like nowhere else to go, nowhere else to turn, like and I just feel like it looks like a really good fuck. Right? Like that like Molly: Interesting. maggie: your face, you're like like energetic like energetically. Like if you Molly: Yeah. I'll I'll say what I'm thinking in a minute. Mm-hmm. maggie: like I'm looking at that and I'm like, I don't know, that looks like the aftermath of like a really good time where you're just kinda like spent. And so I feel like the Ten of C Ten of Swords like if we were gonna personify it, which I'm doing. yeah, I feel like that's your brain has been turned off. There are no thoughts, you are done, you are cooked because it was such a good time. Yeah. Molly: I see where you're going now. Like like the Ten of Swords, this is the moment after. I've got yeah, okay. I see I see where you are. And if maggie: Uh-huh. Yep. Molly: yeah, I see where you are with that one. I was thinking more along the lines of someone who is embodying the Ten of Swords, i.e., they maggie: Yeah. Molly: are they are in that space. They are in a space where like the mind is so so overwhelmed 'cause I see the swords as the suit of the thinking function. maggie: Same. Mm-hmm. Molly: So kind of mind made story and anxieties and, you know, just the ways in which our brain likes to deceive us. maggie: Mm. Molly: If someone's in that Ten of Swords energy, I'm not sure that they would be in a space to be a good intimacy partner. I don't think they would be a good far I'm not sure. I but but maggie: Mm. Molly: like if you look at it from your perspective, then I see it. But if I'm thinking of like I'm imagining someone who's in that space, I'm like I d I think they would be too anxious. And I don't I don't want to sleep with someone who's too anxious. maggie: I did have that thought like when we were g like so I did mentally spin this to make it more palatable for myself. I'm not gonna lie. Because I was also like, Ten of Swords kind of gives me like victim vibes a little bit, right? Where it's kind of just like, yeah, very anxious, maybe potentially like, woe is me. whatever, like I can't figure this out, I can't do it, like I just keep hitting this brick wall or like this dead ending. And like I tend to prefer people who are a little bit more like resilient and creative and yeah. So if we're going your route, it's a tough one for me too. Yeah. Molly: Yeah. And then I I do like your one and I like the way that you've sp you've spun it to to maggie: Mm. Molly: to be more palatable. and I think that I am happy with not that we we actually don't have to agree, but I I think maggie: Mm. Molly: my like ick from the Three of Pentacles is enough for me to like have that spin, like the way that you've spun it to be like, okay, yeah, like I'm I'm happy with that. So we'll maggie: Yeah. Molly: just we'll we'll say that the Ten of Swords is embodying that moment after where they're like completely thoughtless, in which case that would be a really good time. maggie: Right? Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Yeah, the three of pentacles, like it's just I think I used the word joyful, which it's not, but it's just like coll like I think you said collaborative and just like I just don't I don't need all that up in there. No. Mm mm. Molly: Mm, no. Yeah, definitely not. Right. I think we've made our decision. So we're maggie: Hmm. Molly: gonna we're gonna fuck the Ten of Swords. We're gonna marry the Eight of P Cups and we sorry, Three of Pentacles, you are going Bye bye off of the maggie: Mm-hmm. Molly: cliff. how does that feel? maggie: That feels right. I think that feels good. I'm gonna be thinking about this for like another three days now, but in this moment Molly: Yeah, yeah, me too. maggie: I think I think we got it. Molly: Cool. Thank you so much. I would be so curious to hear if you're listening, do you agree, do you disagree? Let us know. and I'm yeah, super, super grateful for your time. I have one or actually I have two last questions for you. So maggie: Sure. Molly: my two last questions are who do you think would be the best lover out of the whole tarot deck? And who would you be who do you think would be the biggest walking red flag? maggie: my god, the best lover. I just like this is my own pure fantasy. Like there's just something about the hanged man that like does it for me. because I think it's just the hanged man just gives me so, so much like just chill vibes. Like I picture the hanged man and I just hang out because the hanged man could go somewhere if he wanted to, but like reading poetry together. Like I don't know. There's just something Molly: What? maggie: about that that just feels feels good. Like I feel like we would have a lovely time. and not really give a shit about what was going on and can kind of like cocoon up. I don't know. so that would be lover. biggest red flag would be man, there's so many options. Molly: Atara does present us with a lot of big red flags. maggie: Well, there's so many. Hold on. We're I'm mentally I'm s shuffling through my deck right here. You know who like it's so funny because I think it would have to be I'm thinking it's gonna have to be the chariot. Molly: that is so interesting. I did not think that you were gonna say that. I I'd love to hear more. maggie: Yeah, the chariot just gives like overcompensating vibes. Like right. Molly: Hmm, yeah, you know when when someone drives past in a really loud car and you think you have a small penis. Yeah. Okay. maggie: Correct. and that that is the chariot for me where I'm like, Mm, I don't need that, right? And then you Molly: Yeah. maggie: like contrast with the hanged man, you start to get like my taste in people a little bit. But yeah, the chariot the chariot's not gonna that's a a big red flag for me. Like show me I don't want your nice, pristine stuff. Show me your baggage. Like yeah. Yeah. Molly: Mmm, I love that. Well thank you ever so much for joining me, for joining us. and we hope that you enjoyed the episode. I will bid you farewell and see you next time. Bye bye.
