- 1:03Stay tuned.
- 1:05Ordinary women, extraordinary faith.
- 1:09When God calls, we say yes.
- 1:14Hello and welcome to another episode of the Arise Women of God podcast.
- 1:19I'm your host, Tamara K.
- 1:21Andersen, and joining me today is my wonderful and amazingly wise Wendy Christensen.
- 1:29She's my co founder of Women warriors of Light and has been a licensed clinical social worker for over 30 years.
- 1:36So her wisdom is so appreciated when we're tackling a question like this, where we are struggling to recognize God's voice, especially in those panicked moments.
- 1:47So we're going to kick off today by looking at a verse in Psalms that teaches us a profound truth.
- 1:54In Psalm 85.
- 1:558, we read, I will hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace unto his people and to his saints.
- 2:04Notice that God's signature voice is peace, not panic.
- 2:10Now that's so much easier to talk about than it is to implement sometimes, right?
- 2:15We see the perfect illustration of this example in John chapter 20 where we find Mary Magdalene outside the empty tomb.
- 2:23She had seen angels that morning declaring that he is not there, he is risen.
- 2:28But in her grief, I don't think she fully processed what that meant.
- 2:32And she didn't know where he was.
- 2:34And so as she lay there sobbing and sorrowing, Jesus approached.
- 2:39And poor Mary was caught up in such this state of grief that she thought he was the gardener.
- 2:45She didn't even recognize him visually until he called her by name, Mary.
- 2:51And at that moment, her spiritual ears suddenly fly open.
- 2:56She recognized him not just because she saw him visually, but because she heard the frequency of his voice.
- 3:04She knew it, and it was spoken with such love and tenderness.
- 3:08Sometimes we, like Mary, might be missing the Voice of the Savior.
- 3:13Because we are in such panic or grief or overwhelm or we simply can't tune into his voice or recognize it.
- 3:21Wendy is now going to dive into this concept of grief blindness and teach us how this is actually a biological block.
- 3:31So I've noticed that when I have new clients come in or just clients that have rushed into my office, they're often in their amygdala brain.
- 3:41The amygdala is in the center of your brain, and it's there to keep you safe.
- 3:45It's there to protect you.
- 3:46It's an important thing.
- 3:48We need to have it in our brain.
- 3:50But when it's constantly going, it increases cortisol, which is a chemical that's helping your body gear up to fight flight or freeze.
- 3:58Right.
- 3:59So it's gearing up to protect you.
- 4:01Often our brains are there too much, and a lot of us are walking around with high levels of stress, which is high levels of cortisol.
- 4:10And I think that blocks and makes it difficult for us to really hear the Lord.
- 4:15When you do that, it shuts down all that logical and that spiritual processing that you need in order to just hear the quiet whispers of God.
- 4:23Because God doesn't yell at you.
- 4:25He doesn't shout at you.
- 4:27He's quiet.
- 4:28He takes the quiet moments in order to speak to you.
- 4:32And it's often in a whisper through his Holy Ghost or His Holy Spirit that He speaks to you.
- 4:38And so it's really hard if you're always in that danger zone or feeling you have to protect to hear those quiet whispers.
- 4:44You still can, but it just makes it more difficult.
- 4:48So, my friends, God does not shout.
- 4:50He takes quiet moments to speak.
- 4:53If your body is stuck in that danger zone, it kind of acts like a wall of static to drop those cortisol levels.
- 5:01Wendy likes to teach her clients a simple, practical technique called box breathing to shift the brain back into a receptive state.
- 5:12So if we take a good deep breath in and through your nose as deeply as you can, and then just kind of a controlled breathing out where you're letting that exhale be a little longer than your inhale.
- 5:26I like to do three of those breaths just to make sure my body is where I need it to be.
- 5:31Another technique I like to use is boxed breathing.
- 5:34I think a lot of people have heard of that.
- 5:36So a box has four sides to it, so it's easy.
- 5:38Remember four.
- 5:40So you just breathe in for four counts.
- 5:42Like a box.
- 5:43You breathe in 2, 3, 4, and then hold 2, 3, 4, exhale.
- 5:522, 3, 4.
- 5:54And then hold, 2, 3, 4.
- 5:57And box breathing is really good to slow things down for you as well.
- 6:02So any of those techniques are really good to drop those cortisol levels so that you can start perceiving those really beautiful, subtle, peaceful inputs from the spirit that says, hey, you're going to be okay.
- 6:17I'm here, I'm present.
- 6:19I love you.
- 6:20You are valued.
- 6:22You have worth.
- 6:23Just.
- 6:23It doesn't have to be long.
- 6:25I know.
- 6:25Sometimes we just don't have that much time.
- 6:27It's okay.
- 6:28It can be a minute.
- 6:30And God can speak to you in a minute if you give Him a minute of your time.
- 6:34Oh, my friends, doesn't that feel so much better?
- 6:36Once you slow down and breathe, you can actively invite God in and hear him.
- 6:43Just a simple prayer saying, lord, help me hear and recognize when you are speaking to me today opens the door.
- 6:50And when you invite him in, you need to be prepared to listen, which means bringing a tool to capture the.
- 6:58Whispers well and being prepared.
- 7:00I love Tamara.
- 7:02Something that you do, that you taught me and I've heard from others that I've tried, is bring a pen and paper, you come prepared, and then you can start writing down different thoughts that you have.
- 7:13And as you write those thoughts down, I feel like it leads to more.
- 7:17Sometimes I'll even go with a question.
- 7:19I'll write a question at the top of my paper that I'm wanting to know from God.
- 7:24And then I'll go and pray and I'll just sit and listen and I'll listen and whatever comes into my mind, I just start writing it down.
- 7:30Whether I think it's from him or not, I just start writing it down.
- 7:33And I find that as I do that more and more comes and then I can.
- 7:37And I hear more and more and.
- 7:39And then I realize as I look back, I'm like, oh, yeah, that was him.
- 7:42Because I think sometimes we question, is that God or not?
- 7:45And I've also learned that if it's good or leading me to good, it's from Him.
- 7:51I love that.
- 7:51If it leads to good, it is from Him.
- 7:55You don't have to doubt it.
- 7:56You can simply receive and act in confidence.
- 8:00Wendy experienced a beautiful God voice moment in her heart during a moment of deep reflection and vulnerability when she questioned God while she was driving and asked him if he really saw and valued women.
- 8:16I was driving over an overpass on a freeway and I was feeling like, does he even really appreciate us?
- 8:24And all of a sudden I felt this flood.
- 8:28And it really Literally was a flood of love for women.
- 8:33And it was strong enough that I have never doubted since then his love and passion for women.
- 8:40And just like you used the example of Mary in the Garden Tomb, Christ came to her.
- 8:46He came to her first.
- 8:48And God sent an angel to Mary, right?
- 8:53And God has many times spoken to women.
- 8:56If you go looking in the Scriptures, you'll find it.
- 8:59If you start looking for where all the moments where women were important and God spoke to them, I promise you will find them.
- 9:07And the thing that's so beautiful about it is it's these quiet, lovely moments that he speaks to them.
- 9:14And I have no doubts because of that experience on an.
- 9:17On a freeway, on an overpass, when I was doubting and asking God, do you even see women?
- 9:22Do you recognize us?
- 9:24Do you.
- 9:24Do you realize how important we are?
- 9:27And he was like, oh, Wendy, you have no idea.
- 9:31Of course I do.
- 9:33They are my most prized possessions and I love them dearly.
- 9:38Well, my friend, God knows your name.
- 9:41Just as he knew Mary's, just as he saw Wendy driving in the car on the overpass.
- 9:47And he is ready to whisper to your soul the moment you're not in panic mode.
- 9:53He can speak to you by filling you with love like he did Wendy on that overpass through a beautiful sunset or a quiet prompt written on a piece of paper.
- 10:03And you can learn to recognize his signature.
- 10:06You just have to slow down and look for it.
- 10:10To help you drop the static, calm your Amyla, and start logging those beautiful insights from God's spirit.
- 10:17Spirit, we want to give you our free roadmap to Revelation, six Steps to Hearing God in your daily life.
- 10:24It's a downloadable PDF that we are offering along with our free audio meditation to help you prepare to receive light and revelation.
- 10:34You will definitely want to check that out if you're stuck in panic mode, because in that meditation, Wendy kind of walks you through calming your mind, picturing the light and inspiration coming down from heaven and into your mind,
- 10:48heart and soul.

- 11:13Don't let the adversary tell you it is your own imagination.
- 11:16If it leads to good, it is your Father speaking.
- 11:20So, my friends, God is speaking to you.
- 11:23He loves you.
- 11:24You are his child.
- 11:26He sees the challenges that you're facing and can help guide you and direct you as you calm your mind.
- 11:32Open that door and let him in.
- 11:35May you feel those whispers and recognize the answers.
- 11:39And until next time, may you arise.
- 11:42Do it God's way.
- 11:43God strong.
