- 0:02Welcome back. Welcome to the Daily BJ Podcast.
- 0:08Have you had your daily BJ? If not, you're about to welcome
- 0:19back, friends. Welcome back to Episode 37.
- 0:23This is not episode 37. It's not.
- 0:25Nope, I I don't know what conversations are recorded now
- 0:28so I am just going based off of the number of interactions we've
- 0:32had since the last episode. You say that, but it's actually
- 0:36been far and few between. We have not seen each other
- 0:38since. We have not.
- 0:39We were just talking about that. Thursday since D&D Day, which
- 0:43was fun. The state of our current D&D
- 0:46party, like our D&D sessions, are getting more and more fun
- 0:49every single time we play. It's been a blast and it's super
- 0:53exciting. The role play has been 10 out of
- 0:5510. The fighting has been creepy and
- 0:5810 out of 10. Yeah, it we, I loved our last
- 1:02DND party, but I think the campaign just made it so like
- 1:07stressful and not and we weren't really able to like plan ahead
- 1:11of what we needed to do because it was so much drama.
- 1:14There was no planning and and like no offense to anyone in the
- 1:18group, I think because we were new, because they were just like
- 1:22the campaign itself was a horror campaign.
- 1:24It was hard to plan anything because you couldn't trust
- 1:26anyone. No.
- 1:28And we couldn't trust each other.
- 1:30Honestly, yes, there was a big level of distrust amongst
- 1:33people. Everyone had some crazy
- 1:34backstories. This new one, this one we're
- 1:37doing right now is a lot more light hearted.
- 1:40It's a little silly, but still it has some high stakes.
- 1:43Yeah, it's it's been fun. I'm excited to play tomorrow.
- 1:46We're recording this Tuesday, but we we'll be playing
- 1:48tomorrow. No, it's Thursday.
- 1:50We're doing this on Thursday, we're releasing this on
- 1:53Thursday. Yeah, guys, we actually record
- 1:56this like Thursday morning and immediately post.
- 1:58It exactly. It's just that's, that's what we
- 2:00want to give y'all. Y'all deserve that.
- 2:02So we're doing that. Yeah, if you're like the first
- 2:03listener, you're practically listening to it live.
- 2:06Basically kind of creepy if you think about it.
- 2:10Someone, someone reached out to me in person.
- 2:14I don't know who I saw. I might have been.
- 2:16I think it was Gabe that they're like, dude, I love your podcast.
- 2:21That he's like, yeah, I'm just, I'm listening to you right now
- 2:23and it's so fun. And also I want to give this
- 2:26person a shout out who left a bunch of comments.
- 2:28What? Do you know who that is?
- 2:30I have not checked my phone, I think it locked me out last time
- 2:32I checked. Let me pull up the name Paula
- 2:35has been a a common commentator. She's commented on a couple who
- 2:39has commented. Gloria commented, but this
- 2:42person commented on like 2 episodes back-to-back.
- 2:48Cephas under score 97. You have any idea who that would
- 2:52be? I have no idea.
- 2:58Me neither, but Cephas under score 97.
- 3:01Thank you so much for listening, he said on our episode #2 Cock
- 3:06Your Hole. Very informative.
- 3:08Not sure how I have gone through life without understanding these
- 3:10facts and events. You know what it's it's, it's
- 3:13the least we can do. And I appreciate that we're like
- 3:15being heard and we're reaching a new audience out there that, you
- 3:18know, benefiting from this. So I appreciate that.
- 3:21Sefas under score 97 Yeah, Thank you.
- 3:23Best podcast I've I have ever listened to.
- 3:26Dude, if we ever get nominated for something sefas you're we're
- 3:29mentioning you in our acceptance speech.
- 3:31Yeah, yeah. And if you want to reach out
- 3:32just to like, you know, uncover your mystery identity, let us
- 3:36know. Unsheathe yourself.
- 3:39Wait, wait, wait. What is he unsheathing?
- 3:42This is velvet. Listen.
- 3:46Steel. Velvet.
- 3:48What is it? Velvet.
- 3:50Velvet. Cheat the steel anyways.
- 3:53I don't know. How have you been?
- 3:57Good. I had a very, very, very busy
- 3:59weekend, but it was really fun. Cool.
- 4:04Happy Mother's Day. Oh yeah, it was Mother's Day.
- 4:06Happy. Mother's Day weekend happy.
- 4:07Belated Mother's Day. Yeah, we did wish you guys a
- 4:09Happy Mother's Day. Yes, we did the episode before
- 4:12but now we are mentioning again a couple of days out.
- 4:15Hope you guys have celebrated. What did you do to celebrate?
- 4:21We went with we took this, so I got out to have breakfast and
- 4:25then we went to the Huntington Museum and Garden when it was
- 4:31105° outside. Oh, you're so brave for that.
- 4:34The museums were air conditioned.
- 4:35They were really nice. The art displays were super
- 4:37cool. I forgot what one of the
- 4:39artist's name. He's at La like local.
- 4:41So he's, he's been around. He's like 8090 something now.
- 4:45Search it up someone, please. Super fun, super cool.
- 4:48And yeah. Then then Sunday took my mom and
- 4:51my family to have breakfast. Chill.
- 4:53Also super hot, I bet. But we had a great time.
- 4:57Because we're Mexican, there's two days of Mother's Day,
- 4:59Saturday's the other Las Madres, and then Sunday is Mother's Day.
- 5:04So you got to, if you don't see one on Saturday, you got to at
- 5:08least mention it via text. Give them a call.
- 5:11Dual citizenship, baby. They got to get celebrated.
- 5:15On Sunday we we had like a little get together with my mom
- 5:18and my Diaz and my mom sends me a bunch of Facebook memes like
- 5:24videos. Of course I.
- 5:25Don't have Facebook, neither do I and.
- 5:28I tell her every time, like mom, I I don't have Facebook so she
- 5:33then plays them for me in person and she played me this very long
- 5:36skit. It's this one guy.
- 5:37I don't remember his name but my mom's like me.
- 5:39Who? He reminds me of you every time.
- 5:41It's the Daily BJ, it's my podcast.
- 5:45And I was, she was showing it to me.
- 5:47And it was the guy like celebrating his mom on the on on
- 5:51the Saturday and was got her a bunch of gifts, took her
- 5:55shopping, got her a car, ends the day.
- 5:58And she's like, oh, OK, So what are you going to do for me
- 6:01tomorrow? And the guy's like what?
- 6:03She's like, yeah, tomorrow for Mother's Day, because today was,
- 6:06yeah, that's tomorrow's actual Mother's Day.
- 6:10And he's like, I spent all my money.
- 6:14I don't know, My, my mom was laughing.
- 6:16She's like, that's so funny me whole.
- 6:17She's like, I'm like, what are you in?
- 6:18Jab, jab, jab. That's so funny.
- 6:23Yeah, if only you would do that for me.
- 6:24Take me shopping, buy me a car, Buy.
- 6:26Me a car? Yeah, two days.
- 6:29Buy me two cars. That was fun.
- 6:30I think the older I get, the more I want to like, like, get
- 6:35to know family stories 'cause even my brother said sometimes
- 6:39like, oh, why didn't you tell us that story about, like, some
- 6:42family member who did something? Yeah.
- 6:44She's like, Amiko, you were so young when it happened.
- 6:46Like, you weren't involved. You had no reason to know so.
- 6:49But it's nice. Nice hearing the the cheese
- 6:51myths and the dramas. Understand what was going on,
- 6:53Yeah. Like, oh, you ever wondered why
- 6:55so and so doesn't like so and so?
- 6:56Here's why, And it's the craziest story you've ever
- 6:59heard. Dude, every family has that.
- 7:02And you know, girl, getting older, you do get some of those
- 7:05stories and you're like, damn, like fuck them.
- 7:08You know, like I totally get it. And and it's only one side of
- 7:11the story, so who knows what the reality.
- 7:13Is but the side of the story is the right.
- 7:15Side the right side, yeah for sure.
- 7:17But has a. It's a trick.
- 7:19She's a muscle as I will go in the got the other side of the
- 7:22veins. It is in the veins.
- 7:23Let me make my own decisions. Yeah, let me hear both sides and
- 7:26I'll I'll find the truth somewhere in the middle.
- 7:29Additionally to that, I've been throwing around the idea to my
- 7:32mom that we need to have a day where all Mike Diaz gather their
- 7:36kids can come to my cousins and bring like the photo books and
- 7:40just everyone bring them out, look at them, talk about
- 7:43memories. I feel like that would be.
- 7:44Such a good, that's wholesome and that's like, that's quality
- 7:46time, you know, 'cause then it's people that or family that you
- 7:49don't get to talk to on a daily basis and get to spend that time
- 7:52just reminiscing about the past and looking at the pictures and,
- 7:55you know, you look so little. Oh my God, yeah, it's, it's
- 8:01great. It's great.
- 8:02Do you remember, like on one of the days we were hanging out and
- 8:07you mentioned or we were like gonna play fight or something
- 8:11and I was like, Jerry, no, don't hit me.
- 8:13He's like, what? You didn't get down.
- 8:15Yes. When you were younger, Yes.
- 8:16And I was like, no, not really. Like only with my brother.
- 8:20Yeah. And then he was like, oh, you
- 8:21see, he's not like that. And he's like, and Jerry is
- 8:22like. He just said he finds.
- 8:24His brother. My cat on Sunday pulled out a
- 8:27photo where I'm mid like yanking my brother about to like punch
- 8:31him. That counts.
- 8:33That counts. It's just it's in our nature,
- 8:34you know, it's in boys nature, I think and and I'm not trying to
- 8:39like. It's in, yeah.
- 8:41Brothers. It's a brothers thing.
- 8:43Yeah, I have three brothers. I have two brothers.
- 8:44It's three of us. It's going to happen like, and
- 8:46then when you're sharing rooms, it's going to happen when you
- 8:49like. He took my my shirt and then
- 8:51it's yeah, it's it's universal. That's my point.
- 8:54Do. You remember the last time you
- 8:55got in like an altercation with your with one of your brothers?
- 8:58Yeah, when we lived in Mexico, in, in Tijuana, Yeah, I remember
- 9:01there was like late. I mean, we would cross the
- 9:03border every day so we'd get back.
- 9:04And then we started fighting in the car, I think.
- 9:06And then we got to we got to our to our apartment.
- 9:09And then my parents went outside with the neighbors because now
- 9:11they got to talk it up. And then, yeah, we were just in
- 9:14there. And then I forgot what he said.
- 9:15And he like threw my iPod on the ground and it was like cracked.
- 9:17And then like we just got at it. We were like pushing each other.
- 9:20Then my little brother woke up and then we were like, like
- 9:23socking each other. Yeah, it was just it just handed
- 9:25my parents. Like, what are you guys doing?
- 9:27Oh my. God, flashbacks.
- 9:31That was like years ago. I mean, I was probably like a
- 9:33freshman in high school. Yeah, it was been a long time.
- 9:35Yeah. Honestly, like on the past, like
- 9:38high school, like in high school, never again.
- 9:41It was mostly like elementary school until like middle school.
- 9:44Yeah. Damn.
- 9:46What'd you do Saturday or Friday in the two days I didn't see you
- 9:50aside from that? What did I do Friday?
- 9:54Dang, what did you do Friday? Let me, let me, let me remind.
- 9:59Myself, well since we last recorded saw Beyoncé, we took
- 10:02the girls. I I took the girls on the last
- 10:04minute Beyoncé concert trip on Wednesday.
- 10:06Dude, amazing show. It sounded 10 at a time.
- 10:08It was so good we were in like the cheap Nosebleed seats.
- 10:11Like who cares? We were up there with the Lord.
- 10:14I've never been that like high without being like in a plane.
- 10:18I was winded going up the stairs to find her seeds.
- 10:22The girl behind me and Melissa was like wait, I still haven't
- 10:25caught my breath yet. Give me.
- 10:27A second OH. That was like girl, save that.
- 10:30'D be me too. And then Friday I had game night
- 10:33with friends and then Saturday I had work.
- 10:36But after that, it was Gabe's birthday.
- 10:38Happy birthday, Gabe. Happy.
- 10:39Birthday, Gabe. Thank you for listening.
- 10:41What if he's Seth as 97? No.
- 10:44Oh, he might be. He's, I think a year younger
- 10:46than me. I think he just turned 27.
- 10:50I don't know. I don't know, actually, never
- 10:51mind. Unless it is, unmask yourself.
- 10:56Sepas 97, we're coming for you. We know your IP.
- 10:59Address We know your IP. I don't know what I did Friday.
- 11:03I went to work and then I left work and then I think we might
- 11:08have just stayed in and watched the movie or we went to the
- 11:11movies or What did I do? Friday?
- 11:15We cleaned. I know that for sure.
- 11:16I know we cleaned. Yes, I think that's it because I
- 11:19called you. Yeah, I think we just cleaned
- 11:20and then you said you were getting ready for for my my
- 11:23swagger to come. And I think that was it.
- 11:26I think that was it. I'm going to like, we're going
- 11:28to finish the episode. I'm going to remember.
- 11:30And then I was like, damn, I did.
- 11:32I jumped off a skyscraper. And yeah.
- 11:34Anyways. I mean I guess whatever it is
- 11:36wasn't important. Fast forward literally a week
- 11:39from now and you're like Oh my God my first born was born that
- 11:41day. Yeah, I was like, shit, how was
- 11:43today? Fuck, I forgot.
- 11:46They'll hear this eventually. Yep, I will.
- 11:49I think that's all I have to update you on.
- 11:52Oh I had AI, went to a bartending class yesterday.
- 11:56Oh, how's that? It was fun.
- 11:58I went with a cousin of the night, friend Carlos.
- 12:01We you know, I'm helping out Alan and his small business, his
- 12:05bartending beer. You can name his business, They
- 12:07We Brew. It's beer barrel.
- 12:10Check him out on Instagram. They do Michelalas, they do
- 12:13different like alcohol. They're we're starting, they're
- 12:16starting. He's starting to expand with
- 12:18like open bar and everything but he wants.
- 12:20To do like mixed drinks, mixed drinks so hence the.
- 12:23Hence class. Yeah, the bartending class.
- 12:24So he met a dude at one of my cousin's parties.
- 12:27Super cool guy, super chill. I will also put his information
- 12:31on the bottom. I forgot.
- 12:32I don't have his card. But yeah, he just like he was
- 12:35teaching us theory dude. Like he was like, he, he really
- 12:39loves what he does. Like he has a shaker tattooed on
- 12:42him and a Oh my God, cocktail spoon tattooed on him.
- 12:45And just the way he like talks about bartending and like
- 12:47service and all that stuff. It's he's legit.
- 12:49We made four mixed drinks, a pina colada, a mojito, a Moscow
- 12:54Mule and a martini. A OK, what kind of martini?
- 12:58Traditional martini, it was shaken, I believe, or or stirred
- 13:04and then double strained. Gin martini, Olive dude, I've
- 13:10never had a martini. I've had a I've had a espresso
- 13:12martini. It was one of my go to's.
- 13:14But a traditional martini was good dude with an olive tan out
- 13:20of like 10 out of 10. I'm not even kidding.
- 13:21That was a really good drink. It was fun one.
- 13:24Of these podcasts, would you make us drinks?
- 13:27One of these podcasts I will make us drinks for sure.
- 13:29Let me know what you need. I'll I'll I'll provide since we
- 13:32record here, I'll provide the the cool I need and and we'll
- 13:36have a drink. We'll have taste testers, we'll
- 13:38have like. Have a live audience and they'll
- 13:40be tasting them with us. You can give us their reviews
- 13:43that sounds. Fun.
- 13:44I like it. That's a good idea, Teach.
- 13:45Me how to mix a drink? I have notes.
- 13:47OK, OK, I have notes. Someone write that down and then
- 13:50text. It to us, let us know what.
- 13:51We don't forget because I'm not taking notes.
- 13:53I'm what's it called? Summer.
- 13:55Summer break? Summer vacation's almost around
- 13:57the corner. So Oh yeah.
- 13:59Wait so you really just chill or do you work?
- 14:01During the summer, I'm going to be working over the summer.
- 14:02Yeah, I found a district that's going to be working cool for
- 14:06summer, so I'll be working there.
- 14:07Nice. Good, collect your paycheck.
- 14:09I have secured employment for summer.
- 14:12OK. All right, it's time.
- 14:14So last week we were supposed to come at you with our paranormal
- 14:19episode. We did it. the Renaissance Fair
- 14:23took importance. We had to share.
- 14:25Yeah, it was a pleasure. Yes dude, I was pleasured at the
- 14:29Ren Fair. Ain't that crazy.
- 14:31I might go again, Jerry on the 18th.
- 14:34Go again. I'm throwing around the idea I.
- 14:36Don't know what I'm doing the 18th but do it.
- 14:38I mentioned it to to some of the gays on Saturday.
- 14:42If you have not gone, please go. Well, I told them, just said
- 14:46he'd be interested, Jesse said. Andrew said he'd also be
- 14:50interested, but Jesse said he my friend Jesse.
- 14:54He's. Really cool.
- 14:54He's like, he sounds Nintendo. He works out all the time.
- 14:57He has a partner named Eli. Both of them absolutely
- 14:59gorgeous. Super, super, super sweet.
- 15:02He said he would. He wants to go, but he has a
- 15:04vision of dressing up like a very specific Link costume from
- 15:08Legend of Zelda. I don't want to take that away
- 15:10from him. Like you have your vision,
- 15:12understand? Understandable.
- 15:14I I remember seeing the the link that was walking around when we
- 15:18went This is Eli. No, no, Jesse.
- 15:22Jesse, I know for a fact Jesse's link idea is going to be like 10
- 15:25times better. He like, I'll show you his
- 15:28Instagram. He throws around like kind of
- 15:29like kind of like loosely based cosplay things.
- 15:34It's really good. He's very talented.
- 15:36That's awesome. Do it.
- 15:37Anyways, do it again. The Renaissance Fair is just so
- 15:41important to us these days. It is.
- 15:43Yes, it is. But this week we are we're
- 15:46coming back with the supernatural, supernatural
- 15:49episode. So do you wanna forward that
- 15:57this is we, we did research. We're not coming at you with
- 16:00just like, Oh yeah, we. I saw a TikTok I saw.
- 16:02A TikTok like oh guys I saw this on TikTok.
- 16:05We looked for sources to provide facts.
- 16:11But also this is the first time I've done any kind of like I
- 16:16would say it like research project essay writing since some
- 16:20point in high school like undergrad high school or
- 16:23undergrad college. Sorry, like the first the first
- 16:26two years of. College, yeah, where you like
- 16:27you had to do those assignments and mandatory ones for your like
- 16:30your GES and stuff your. APA format and everything.
- 16:32I'll tell you this, in high school, when there was like a
- 16:35research assignment or like, you know, whatever, I, I didn't do
- 16:38it. I didn't do it.
- 16:40OK, can't blame me. So this was fun.
- 16:45It was fun because. I think when you find that one
- 16:47thing that you're like, wow, this is really interesting.
- 16:49And then deep dive and then start like pulling different
- 16:50sources and kind of matching everything.
- 16:53It was pretty fun. It was pretty fun and, and
- 16:55honestly, it didn't take me that long.
- 16:56It wasn't like like. I agree it was like an hour and
- 16:59a half. It was.
- 16:59It was pretty easy, OK. Super flowy.
- 17:01We haven't told each other what we're talking about.
- 17:03Nope, just that we're doing something supernatural.
- 17:07Something that's like natural but like super.
- 17:10Yeah, like something normal, but like above it.
- 17:13Yeah, yeah, yeah. So like, if you're not like
- 17:18superstitious, just like a little stitches, like this is
- 17:20your this is your episode. Yes.
- 17:22And if you guys like it, we will, we will do like a fully
- 17:25like the entire podcast will just be like that topic and we
- 17:29will both the research and bring information to the table.
- 17:32Yeah, although I do have a lot of, you know, source facts and
- 17:35and accounts of whatever happened for this day.
- 17:40It was it's pretty short. It's summarizing, Yeah.
- 17:42So a deep dive with more time if you all want it, yes, can be
- 17:47done. Yes, we're also, I'm going to go
- 17:50a little crazy with the editing. So by this point, hopefully
- 17:52you're listening to some spooky music in the background.
- 17:55Alien noises now cool. I'm going to have to search for
- 18:00alien noises I didn't look for any earlier.
- 18:05Do you want this? I guess I'll go first because I
- 18:07just said what I was going to do.
- 18:08OK, God. OK, I'll no you go.
- 18:11OK. Are you sure?
- 18:13Yeah, I'm sure we can flip a coin.
- 18:14OK. No, you go first.
- 18:16But I I'll, I'll tell you what I researched, OK?
- 18:20I researched this. I was gonna do ghosts and I was
- 18:25gonna find, like, haunted places in in, like, LA And I was so
- 18:29invested by one specific place that I just wrote about the
- 18:32history of this place, OK? It's called the Knickerbocker
- 18:36Hotel. In LA.
- 18:38In LA, In Hollywood specifically.
- 18:39Amazing. So this is like a little history
- 18:42lesson of just scary things that happen, spooky, like scary, just
- 18:48things that make it like a a mysterious place.
- 18:52OK, wow. I mean, if it's in Hollywood, an
- 18:54old Hollywood building like Bury, oh, there's some shit that
- 18:58went on there. OK, well, I'm glad that you went
- 19:01with more of the paranormal vibe because as mentioned, I went
- 19:05ahead and did it. Aliens, I'm so excited.
- 19:08Aliens, Extraterrestress. This was fun because there was
- 19:14so much on Aliens and like there's so much new things that
- 19:17are coming out with UFOs and whatever, UF TS or AB CS,
- 19:23whatever they're called nowadays.
- 19:25But I was like, no, like I want to know when and what was the
- 19:30first sighting in the US like in like the modern, like I guess
- 19:34era, not not know like 1650 something where this like I
- 19:39don't know mine worker. No, like I went as early as
- 19:42possible with like trace of information that is like not
- 19:47that long ago and all of my searching.
- 19:51I'm breathing so hard because I'm that excited.
- 19:53OK, I'm excited too. My research and my findings
- 20:00proved to be out of this world. Insert alien noises.
- 20:06So exactly what does it sound like?
- 20:11A animal farm? Animal Crossing?
- 20:14Animal Crossing? Animal Crossing?
- 20:18So so you've heard of UFOs right?
- 20:25It's a universal term. UFO.
- 20:27Yeah, there's a new name, right? Yeah, I think so.
- 20:30It's like UEPS or unidentified, I don't know, whatever flying
- 20:35saucer, I think it's one of the like the first terms that I've
- 20:39ever heard, like a flying saucer or whatever.
- 20:41The flying saucer came to light 1947 and I picked this and it
- 20:50matched up perfectly because on June 24th, which is like in two
- 20:53weeks. Oh my God, yeah. 1947, almost 77
- 20:57years ago, a man by the name of Kenneth Arnold who was an
- 21:03experienced pilot has flown over like 4000 flight hours or
- 21:09whatever the that term is. He witnessed the first, if not
- 21:18the one of the first, live. Just like flying objects in the
- 21:22sky. Yeah, yeah, just flying.
- 21:24Objects. So the first aliens it.
- 21:25Was the first time. And so the story goes.
- 21:30I'm really nervous, guys, OK. Don't be, it's literally just me
- 21:33too. No dude, this is.
- 21:34There's thousands of people hearing.
- 21:35I forgot, I forgot. I don't.
- 21:37Know how many aliens are are listening?
- 21:39It's going to. Make a really bad joke.
- 21:43Go on. Do it.
- 21:44No, Nope. Nope.
- 21:46OK, well, our friend our our friend Kenneth Arnold.
- 21:48Kenny. Our friend Kenny, he was on his
- 21:51way to Chehalis, WA. Oh, so this is the United
- 21:55States? This.
- 21:56Is in the US OK OK, so he was headed to an air show in
- 22:01Pendleton, OR. That's already spooky.
- 22:04He was like, cool, I'm on my way.
- 22:06He had his own little like personal plane.
- 22:10I bet I wrote down the name somewhere, a Cal Air A2, a
- 22:14little light aircraft. Anyways, he was on his way to
- 22:16Oregon and he was like, cool, I'm going to make a quick fuel
- 22:19stop in Yakima. Yakima.
- 22:22Yakima, Oh, I forgot to mention he was a little business owner.
- 22:27He had a It's called the Great Western Fire Control Supply I.
- 22:31Don't think your mic is facing you.
- 22:32I'm so sorry. There you go.
- 22:34It's not. It's not.
- 22:35It was not facing me. That's how nervous I am, guys.
- 22:39Western Fire Control Supply in Boise, ID, where he sold and
- 22:44installed fire suppression systems, But that job took him
- 22:47to the PNW, the Pacific Northwest.
- 22:50Northwest. OK, our story takes place in
- 22:53Mount Rainier. Famous, famous Washington
- 22:58Mountain. We've seen Mountain Rainier.
- 23:00Yeah, it's a volcano. OK, so he was also a member of
- 23:05the Idaho Search and Rescue Unit.
- 23:07So and that's important. I'll bring it up in.
- 23:08OK, so he's flying, he's on his way to Washington around I think
- 23:15it was in Washington where he was also keeping an eye out for
- 23:19AUS Marine Corps transport plane that had recently crashed.
- 23:24There was 32 Marines on board, so he was like, cool.
- 23:27Well, he's part of the search and rescue team in Idaho.
- 23:29What if I start looking for this plane question?
- 23:32Yeah, so search and rescue like what?
- 23:34Like what is he searching and rescuing?
- 23:35Like fallen? Just planes?
- 23:37Yeah, well, his her search and rescue team, I think in Idaho he
- 23:40was, he had his own plane. So he can like, oh, just if.
- 23:42Anyone goes missing? Yeah, OK, so he was part of a
- 23:45team that does that. But because this just happened
- 23:47in Washington, he was like, cool, well, maybe I can like
- 23:50find this planes or spot it this, this wreckage and possibly
- 23:54earn himself a $5000 reward. Oh, this?
- 23:57Was and this was the what time? This was 1947.
- 24:00I'll find out how much that is now.
- 24:01OK. How much was it?
- 24:02$5000 So this was 1947. OK.
- 24:07So he was like, I'm gonna make a quick little coin.
- 24:08I'm gonna make some money. You know, I'm already flying
- 24:10there. I might as well just, you know,
- 24:11make a little, make a little. Take a glance here, take a
- 24:14glance here. Look for this plane crash.
- 24:18So he was flying. Did you find it?
- 24:19Go. $71,000. Imagine that, I mean, if you had
- 24:23your own plane and you're just casually flying over this
- 24:26possible wreckage area, why would you not look, you know,
- 24:28keep. An eye, Yeah, For your chance of
- 24:3071 grand. OK.
- 24:32So my man was smart. My man was smart.
- 24:34Oh, Kenny, I like you. So he was flying near Mount
- 24:39Rainier. It was around 3:00 PM.
- 24:41He saw a bright flash in the sky.
- 24:43At first he thought it was a sunlight bouncing off another
- 24:45plane, but then more flashes appeared.
- 24:48This time they formed a formation.
- 24:51There was 9 shiny disc like objects moving rapidly across
- 24:55the sky. These objects flew in a loose
- 24:58echelon formation, which is like a like a, like a military
- 25:01formation so that you know, they had some sort of.
- 25:04They were rich, Yeah, Upper echelon.
- 25:05Exactly. They moved erratically, they
- 25:08were flipping, they were weaving, he quotes.
- 25:12It looked like the tail of a Chinese kite.
- 25:14He estimated their speed and this is where it was kind of
- 25:16like, you know, the different sources at different numbers of
- 25:19the speed, somewhat like 700 mph.
- 25:21Oh my God, This one, which was the I think it was like the Air
- 25:25and Space Museum was he mentioned saying it was going,
- 25:29they were going at least 1200 mph, nearly twice the speed of
- 25:33any aircraft known at the time. This was months before Chuck
- 25:36Yeager broke the sound barrier with the Bell X1.
- 25:40So this was still before you know any historic speed or
- 25:45airplane aircraft? Speed.
- 25:46I believe him. He described the objects as
- 25:48circular, about 100 feet wide, no visible tails.
- 25:52And in his in his official report to the US Air Force, he
- 25:56sketched a shape that looked more like a heel or like a
- 25:58pancake rather than a saucer. So this connects to the flying
- 26:02saucer. Shape.
- 26:04It was like flat shape like a. Flat shape.
- 26:06Circular disk. Like a circular disk, almost
- 26:08like this, like 1/2 pancake. So like at the time there was a
- 26:12prototype aircraft that was round that it was like a round
- 26:17shape. Yeah, I'll show you that later,
- 26:18too. It's it's it's like, yeah, it
- 26:20looks pretty basic, but it looks it looks funky.
- 26:22So he never actually used the term flying saucer to describe
- 26:25what he saw at first. He told his story to reporters
- 26:29for the East Oregonian newspaper.
- 26:32And the very next day, one of them, I guess one of the
- 26:35reporters, Nolan Skiff, described the objects as a
- 26:38saucer like aircraft. A follow up wire story used the
- 26:41phrase nine bright saucer like objects and bam, just like that,
- 26:46the flying saucer was like the headline and it took off.
- 26:49It was literally just like a game of telephone.
- 26:51Yeah, yeah. So it was never his intention to
- 26:54call them flying saucers. It's just a description that was
- 26:56interpreted by reporters that started using the saucer.
- 26:59And it and it it took people were like, what?
- 27:01Flying saucers in the sky? Yep.
- 27:03What? What?
- 27:04What's a saucer? So it's like sauce, you know,
- 27:08like marinara sauce. Oh my God.
- 27:12It's literally like a plate. Yeah, it's literally, that's
- 27:14what it looks like. That's literally a saucer.
- 27:16Saucer. Just a plate.
- 27:18So you know, he was called by radio host.
- 27:21He was interviewed anytime. Any chance people got a hold of
- 27:24him? He did say that it was kind of
- 27:27annoying at 1st and he was overwhelming.
- 27:30He wasn't built for the he wasn't built for celebrity
- 27:32lifestyle. He just wanted to make his coin,
- 27:34find the plane, retire early. You know, the Chicago Sun ran a
- 27:40headline. The supersonic flying saucer is
- 27:41cited by Idaho pilot. It was just one of the, like,
- 27:44the many headlines at the time. So despite the fame, once again,
- 27:49he wasn't too thrilled about the spotlight.
- 27:51Decades, decades later, he stated that he faced
- 27:55embarrassment due to misquotes and misinformation that followed
- 27:58him through years. So any bad publicity is good.
- 28:03You know what I mean? Yeah.
- 28:04You just can't even know that it's OK.
- 28:07And that was the story of the flame.
- 28:08Of the of the of the 1st. Of the 1st.
- 28:12Blind saucer in quotations. So of course, because this was
- 28:17the first of first of its time, one-of-a-kind story aliens, this
- 28:22guy's crazy. There's going to be skeptics.
- 28:24There's going to be, you know, the government intervening of
- 28:27like, hey, let's not freak out the public.
- 28:30So here are several military officials and researchers
- 28:35offering explanations. All that time, so like this
- 28:38story goes out on a Monday, by Tuesday morning the government
- 28:42is saying. And there's, yeah, people,
- 28:43skeptics, everything. Some of them are grounded in
- 28:46science. Others are just, you know,
- 28:48skeptics. Skepticism.
- 28:49Because I said so. Yeah, yeah.
- 28:51Who is this guy? OK, so here are a couple
- 28:53military officials that were trying to prove it wrong.
- 28:56So we have officials at the McCord Army Field.
- 28:59This is near Tacoma, WA, so near the area.
- 29:03Their theory was that the objects Arnold saw might have
- 29:05been AP80 jet fighter or P80A series of P80 jet fighters,
- 29:11which were the first operational jet aircraft.
- 29:15The McCord officers noted that the nearest base with P 80s was
- 29:20March Field in California, around 600 miles away, the
- 29:25distance the P80 could cover in about an hour.
- 29:29So from California to Washington, this.
- 29:30Aircraft and he did say he saw the the plane flying at like.
- 29:34Double like normal planes. Crazy, crazy speed.
- 29:38OK, but I'm looking at pictures right now that is not disc
- 29:41shaped. Exactly.
- 29:43So that's a plane, their reasoning.
- 29:46So this matters because they were trying to match Arnold's
- 29:48description with a known military aircraft, suggesting A
- 29:52conventional explanation. They were just like, no, no need
- 29:55to freak out everyone. Cover them.
- 29:56It's cover rough. Another Lieutenant Lieutenant
- 30:00Colonel Harry R Turner, he's a commander at the White Sands
- 30:06probing ground probing and that's proving in New Mexico.
- 30:13His viewpoint said that the sighting was consistent with jet
- 30:16aircraft, again pointing towards a man made explanation do.
- 30:20You see if I'm lying to you. So he, it's relevant because he
- 30:24says that there was a major testing site in New Mexico for
- 30:28advanced aircrafts and missiles. So Turner's opinion carried
- 30:32technical weight. So because he probably worked in
- 30:34a classified area, he was like, no, no, this is just one of our.
- 30:37Yeah, this stuff exists like we have it, so we won't show you,
- 30:40but we have it. But we have it, you know, maybe
- 30:42they do, maybe they did at the time, but.
- 30:44No, we would have seen it by now.
- 30:46It's been like how many years? You said like 87080 years.
- 30:49Almost 77 years. This is a Army response to the
- 30:53Portland sightings. But Jerry saw blessed that he
- 30:56stood up. I stood up.
- 30:57No, I also almost got a cramp. So Army officials pointed out
- 31:03that 24 P80 fighters. So once again, that same
- 31:06aircraft, P80 fighters and six bombers had flown over Portland.
- 31:10At the time, residents reported seeing discs.
- 31:14OK, residents, but it's not residents.
- 31:15It was Kenny. He was trying to debunk reports
- 31:19of mysterious flying objects by tying them to a scheduled
- 31:22military fly over. No, they made that up.
- 31:26No, no, no, no, no. This is Stuart Campbell, a
- 31:29Scottish science writer and UFO skeptic.
- 31:32His theory was that Arnold may have seen mirages of distant
- 31:35snow covered peaks in the Cascade Range.
- 31:39I'm rolling my eyes. He calculated the speed of the
- 31:41objects to match Arnold's aircraft, suggesting they were
- 31:44stationary illusions caused by temperature inversions.
- 31:49That's no he saw them moving. No, you don't even know what
- 31:52you're talking about. How are you?
- 31:54How is he going to see them moving faster than his plane and
- 31:58they're going to say it was? Oh, it was shit.
- 32:00It was a. Trick of your eyesight.
- 32:03No Philip J Class A well known UFO debunker and aviation
- 32:08journalist. Imagine that's your title.
- 32:10I'm a UFOD bunker. I'm a well known UFO debunker.
- 32:13I'm the most well known debunker of UFOs.
- 32:16So he's claiming that Arnold might have misidentified meteor
- 32:20striking across the sky. Oh, they're stretching.
- 32:25They're reaching. And then he reached out to a
- 32:27journalist. Key Davidson.
- 32:29That's key. EAY, OK sure.
- 32:32Sure of the San Francisco Examiner no free publicity to
- 32:40back up the meteor activity. So the theory and last one last
- 32:44but not least, James Easton, UFO researcher and sceptic.
- 32:49He claims that Arnold may have seen Pelicans in flight.
- 32:54Pelicans moving at 12 hundred, 700 mph Pelicans Pelicans have
- 33:02large wingspans, pale underbellies that reflects
- 33:05sunlight, and a flight profile that can resemble Crescent
- 33:08shapes, especially when soaring at high altitude.
- 33:10I'm rolling my eyes. Listen so hard.
- 33:12Yeah, they were birds. As a bird aficionado.
- 33:15Jerry's a bird expert, I would say.
- 33:17If I'm on a plane and I see a Pelican, I'm not going to
- 33:23compare a Pelican to a disc, A saucer, OK, that's 100 feet
- 33:28wide. OK, no, OK.
- 33:32They were flying information formation.
- 33:34What do birds do? They find formation.
- 33:36They do fly information. Do we know if there was
- 33:38Pelicans? That's their flight path?
- 33:40Like are are they migrating? How low was he to the ground?
- 33:45By Mount Rainier, I don't think a lot of.
- 33:47Birds are no it's cold. It's.
- 33:49Cold, you know, I mean it was June, so it was June maybe a
- 33:52little hotter, but still it's Mount Rainier is pretty sure
- 33:55it's freezing. And if there is flight paths,
- 33:58you know, around the the Washington area, I still don't
- 34:01think a Pelican or a, a series of nine Pelicans can be mistaken
- 34:05for a flying UFO. Yeah.
- 34:08So that was like my story and I, I had a lot of fun researching
- 34:12it. And sorry y'all, it was a little
- 34:14a little choppy there. But no, that was so informative.
- 34:17Yeah, it was fun. It was fun researching.
- 34:18And now I know that was the first US sighting.
- 34:20Jerry, I've never heard of this before today.
- 34:23Flying saucers now I know now. Flying saucers Sensationalized.
- 34:26Sensationalized by The Oregonian.
- 34:29Who was it? The The Seattle Times?
- 34:32The. OK, yeah, so I looked at the
- 34:33Seattle Times. This was the National Air and
- 34:36Space Museum. I did use some wiki.
- 34:38I know, guys. My bad.
- 34:40No, but that was mostly for like, just like the skeptic, the
- 34:43skeptics. Who cares?
- 34:44Who cares? This is my pocket.
- 34:45Listen, you're listening to this for free.
- 34:47Nothing we say is concrete fact. And there's, there's once again,
- 34:51if you go back and you find another source that says, well,
- 34:54actually there's a lot of different numbers, there's a lot
- 34:57of different things out there that might have, you know, heard
- 35:02a different story and whatever. So yeah, the video I saw was, I
- 35:07think it was History Pod, 2 minute video just to get, you
- 35:11know, a little briefing of it. But it was fun.
- 35:13Dang, this was 19. You said 1947.
- 35:15Yeah, not so long ago. No, like they had cameras at
- 35:18this point probably like black and white or or sepia or what
- 35:23sepia like. You call me?
- 35:25Listen, I'm not in the, I'm not one of those people that says
- 35:29slurious. I mean, granted, he's probably
- 35:34the only one on his plane. I'm just thinking like, how do
- 35:37you like, all he has is his word.
- 35:41So I understand why people will find it so easy to be skeptical
- 35:43'cause it's like, oh, this man just.
- 35:45Like it's gonna happen no matter what he.
- 35:46Has no proof. Like he said he'd saw them and
- 35:49then the newspaper, like, made it bigger than what it was.
- 35:53Yeah, I believe it though. You know, but then again, like
- 35:56if we're talking about cryptids that are like a well known
- 35:58things throughout the whole country and yeah, Oregon,
- 36:02Washington, like aliens are just, you know, just a part of
- 36:06the. They have to exist.
- 36:08We are so small in the grand scheme of things, we're just
- 36:11like a dust. Yes, we are.
- 36:12And you know, look, we don't have to look at outer space to
- 36:14think about aliens. We could look at our oceans to
- 36:16look about to to think about aliens that we have.
- 36:19Here real scare, I have an octopus.
- 36:21Tattooed on me Now that isn't an alien.
- 36:23It they look like them. They are.
- 36:25I was watching octopus tik toks today of this guy who would put
- 36:28his hand in and the octopus was playing with him by like just
- 36:32suctioning on for dear life. That did not look like playing.
- 36:34That looked like it was. And each one of those arms has a
- 36:37brain. Crazy.
- 36:38What? That's a different episode guys,
- 36:40sorry. Wait, but you're not lying to
- 36:41me. No.
- 36:45Nope. I don't believe him.
- 36:47Chop it off, it'll move around. It's a muscle.
- 36:51OK, Thank you very much. That is my Ted Talk.
- 36:54Thank you Jerry for sharing that super informative story.
- 36:57I will be thinking about it and hopefully my TikTok has listened
- 37:00to me and you and will be providing me UFO content.
- 37:04Cool, I am presenting. I understand what you meant
- 37:10about. That's what I'm saying.
- 37:11It's like it's just me, right? I'm right here.
- 37:14OK, it's, it's just I take back what I said.
- 37:16I'm sorry Fred, you did a really good job.
- 37:19Thank you, Fred. I appreciate that.
- 37:20Please comment down and let Jerry know he did a good job,
- 37:23which I'm proud of him because I've been throwing around the
- 37:26idea of doing a presentation night and Jerry has vehemently
- 37:30been like, no, I'm not doing that.
- 37:32I'm not doing a presentation, I can't.
- 37:34But you did a really good job. I'm impressed.
- 37:37Thank you. Thank you.
- 37:39I appreciate that. You're welcome.
- 37:41OK. This was fun.
- 37:44So Jerry did say he wanted to do Aliens I.
- 37:48The lights just turned off. The lights just turned off.
- 37:50Just kidding, it was me. I love ghosts.
- 37:54I love the idea of ghosts. I believe there has to be
- 37:57ghosts. Like there's something out there
- 37:59paranormal like it's just energy is too is too complex to just
- 38:05only exist as like in the physical space.
- 38:08Like there has to be. There's too many historic
- 38:12beliefs of like in afterlife and coming back from the afterlife.
- 38:17Depictions of hell. Depictions of heaven.
- 38:19Yes, in a whole bunch of different cultures.
- 38:21Like, they're the most feared thing I think of of humanity is
- 38:26death and what happens after death.
- 38:28Like, look, Jerry's so scared right now talking about it.
- 38:31Oh, you have a question. Yeah, I have a comment.
- 38:34OK, go ahead. We are in no way inviting any
- 38:37spirits, any negative energy into the space.
- 38:41I could take. It thank you.
- 38:42I could take it. Don't say that friend, I want
- 38:44to. Experience it.
- 38:45Take it back. Take it back.
- 38:46No, no back. I welcome no and and negative
- 38:50energy don't. Space.
- 38:52Yeah, don't follow. Jerry, you're not welcome you.
- 38:54Can sleep on my couch, please? I will.
- 38:57No, we can. We can live harmoniously.
- 39:00If you have something you need to do, you just whisper it into
- 39:03my ear. Tell it to be in my dreams.
- 39:06There has to be a connection. Mom picked me up.
- 39:08Oh. I'm scared.
- 39:09I've already scared. Jerry and I haven't started, but
- 39:13in my initial research when we were going to maybe do this last
- 39:16week, I was going to give like a concise history of like spirit
- 39:22worlds in different cultures. I really wanted to focus on like
- 39:27like ancient like Mexican cultures specifically like
- 39:31Aztecs, Mayan, their thoughts of the the underworld and spirits
- 39:35and what spirits meant. So I I'm invested in ghosts.
- 39:41This story is like ghost adjacent because it is about a
- 39:45place that is reported to be haunted.
- 39:47But as I was doing my research, it just had so much like like
- 39:53negative energy surrounding it. That probably explains why it
- 39:56could be haunted. OK, the place I am going to
- 40:01discuss today is called the Knickerbocker Hotel in
- 40:06Hollywood. Hollywood.
- 40:09Hollywood. Currently, it serves as an
- 40:13apartment complex for seniors. Now serving as an apartment
- 40:17complex for seniors, the Knickerbocker Hotel sat on Ivory
- 40:21Ave. It celebrated its grand opening
- 40:24in July of 1929. Wow.
- 40:26The hotel welcomed esteemed guests such as Mae W, Bette
- 40:30Davis, Francis Farmer and is even linked to famed magician
- 40:35Harry Houdini. Amazing.
- 40:36Wow. Houdini.
- 40:39So we're going to start with Houdini.
- 40:41So he never actually visited the hotel.
- 40:46The magician known for his miraculous feats of escape died
- 40:50at the young age of 52. Houdini was known to escape the
- 40:53impossible, which it makes his sudden death in 1926 prior to
- 40:57the hotel opening, all the more mysterious.
- 41:02After performing for a packed house on October 24th, 1926, he
- 41:06was rushed to the hospital due to the onset of appendicitis.
- 41:10He succumbed to his illness, dying on Halloween night as the
- 41:14ruptured appendix had poisoned his insides by that point.
- 41:19I saw that candy he ate that day.
- 41:21No, here's the thing. It actually isn't super
- 41:23mysterious. So I, I guess a few days before
- 41:28this final show, he was backstage getting ready and
- 41:32there was like a student there who went up to Houdini and said,
- 41:36hey, I heard that you're able to survive hard punches to the gut.
- 41:41And Houdini was like, yeah, I can.
- 41:43And homie, like wailed on him like four or five times really
- 41:46hard in the in the gut. And he had been complaining of
- 41:49like stomach pain prior to. Ruptured Appendix.
- 41:52And I didn't do any kind of Googling to see if there's a
- 41:55correlation, but his appendix burst.
- 41:57That's crazy. That's and.
- 41:59He had been in pain for days and didn't go to the hospital.
- 42:03So anyways he died. He.
- 42:04Was going to go away like magic. OK, I guess he is.
- 42:08He escaped everything. He thought he could escape
- 42:10death. Not death.
- 42:12OK, prior to his death, Houdini had promised his wife, named
- 42:16Bess, that he would manage to escape death and send her a
- 42:20message from the afterlife. Homie was very interested in
- 42:24what would happen after death. He did join this community of
- 42:27people trying to like kind of debunk the afterlife.
- 42:31I didn't do super too much research in this because I
- 42:33really wanted to focus on other things that happened at the
- 42:35hotel. But the Houdini history is very
- 42:37interesting. That's cool.
- 42:38So he he would like talk to mediums, try to debunk them.
- 42:41He one article said that he thought that they would use
- 42:44their their beauty and sensuality to kind of like
- 42:48swindle people. So he ended up becoming more
- 42:51like pessimistic about the whole idea of there being some kind of
- 42:55supernatural afterlife. However, he made that promise to
- 42:59his wife. When when I die, I will contact
- 43:01you. This started a 10 year tradition
- 43:05of best conducting annual seances at the hotel Halloween
- 43:12night, hoping that she would once again speak to her deceased
- 43:15husband on the roof the roof top of this building.
- 43:18For 10 years, on Halloween night, she held seances.
- 43:21What did she like do? What did she say to reserve the
- 43:23spot? She's like, book me again for
- 43:26next year. I'll be back next year.
- 43:28I want to reserve the roof. I actually wanted to reserve the
- 43:30whole roof whole. Roof.
- 43:32Yeah, so she did that for 10 years.
- 43:35The last year was 1936. After a 10th failed attempt
- 43:40conducted on the hotel's rooftop, she finally gave up.
- 43:44Regarding her failures, she said Houdini did not come through.
- 43:48I do not believe that Houdini can come back to me or to
- 43:50anyone. Some blogs reference that there
- 43:54a sudden storm appeared above the hotel on the night of the
- 43:57final seance. That above the hotel a storm
- 44:01just erupted and lasted for all of 10 minutes.
- 44:04Which begs the question, did she actually fail and and stop or
- 44:07did she get the confirmation she needed and said we don't have to
- 44:10do this anymore? I don't know.
- 44:13I'd love to leave it up to to just the mysterious of it all.
- 44:16Yeah. And and the storm was only.
- 44:19It said it started. Peep.
- 44:21The blogs I saw this on said that it started just right above
- 44:25the hotel. It lasted like 10 minutes.
- 44:27But there was no research I found that was able to provide
- 44:31any concrete evidence of any kind of weird weather pattern
- 44:34that day. Yeah, granted, it was like 1920
- 44:37something 1936, so no one logged that.
- 44:40No one could check their weather app.
- 44:43Check The Weather Channel. Nope.
- 44:45So we're just gonna take their word for it.
- 44:46The blog was also very SUS. It had some pictures of like
- 44:50Knights on the head. Well, that seems credible to me.
- 44:53And it was just a forum post. That's cool.
- 44:56That makes total sense. OK, so that that ties up the
- 45:00Houdini. OK.
- 45:02There was another icon of their time, actress Francis Farmer,
- 45:07who is linked to the Knickerbocker Hotel.
- 45:10The actress, a member of Paramount's Lucky 7, was scouted
- 45:13by the studio in 1935. A Seattle native.
- 45:17Seattle. It all leads back to Seattle.
- 45:19So Fabi, Emma. She is now remembered more for
- 45:21her turbulent life than her career.
- 45:23She rose to fame in 1936, and her life quickly began to fall
- 45:27apart in the years after. In 1942, she reportedly spent a
- 45:31majority of her time alone. She drank heavily and became
- 45:35highly dependent on amphetamines, those drugs.
- 45:39I think so. I think the drugs, no, Yeah.
- 45:42She was like popping Tylenol with some wine for maybe OK,
- 45:48well that at that point she had a couple film projects.
- 45:52She was super famous. She started drinking a lot.
- 45:56She had gotten married, I think. I think she got divorced
- 46:00ultimately. She wanted to do Broadway plays.
- 46:02She went, she did her thing, but it kind of like came crashing
- 46:08down due to the alcoholism. She agreed to do a movie in I
- 46:14believe that year 1942 in Mexico, but she only lasted 2
- 46:18weeks before quitting. And when she returned back to
- 46:21her home, she had found out that her parents had sold all her
- 46:25belongings and kicked her out of the house she was renting, and
- 46:29she was forced to live at the Knickerbocker Hotel because she
- 46:31was running out of money. I was.
- 46:33I'll be throwing hands final bang.
- 46:37Her downward spiral worsened while she stayed at the hotel.
- 46:41While shooting a separate movie, she slapped A hairdresser,
- 46:45causing her to fall and severely injure her jaw.
- 46:48When the hairdresser went to the police.
- 46:51Farmer was arrested at the hotel in connection to a prior drunk
- 46:54driving warrant that she had not paid.
- 46:58But your tickets? Literally should have DUI that
- 47:00should have not finished paying and she slapped her hairdresser
- 47:02which led the cops to be like oh you have a warrant out for your
- 47:05arrest. So on January 13th, 1943, police
- 47:09found her drunk, naked and in a manic episode.
- 47:12Afraid she was not afraid, she refused to comply.
- 47:17After a night in jail, she was transferred to a psychiatric
- 47:20ward at the request of a psychiatrist connected or
- 47:23contacted by her family. A few days later, she was
- 47:26admitted to a La Crescenta Sanitarium, A psych ward, which
- 47:30she would be administered shock therapy prior to her release.
- 47:35There are rumors she was even lobotomized by Doctor Walter J
- 47:39Freeman, who made the lobotomy famous.
- 47:42He's the one who pioneered lobotomy.
- 47:44Some accounts even say that one of the pictures of him, like an
- 47:48infamous picture of him doing a little a lobotomy, that the
- 47:52patient is this actress. What?
- 47:55Yes. His motto was lobotomy gets them
- 47:59home. Get the fuck out of here.
- 48:03Get the fuck out of here. That's crazy.
- 48:07She might not be haunting the the Knickerbocker Hotel, but it
- 48:11is also like a sad, heavy experience tied to the hotel.
- 48:16Trauma, negative energy, stay there like it's not going.
- 48:19Anywhere No I I agree. Like, if bad stuff happens, it
- 48:23just it like the energy gets trapped in a wall, whether it be
- 48:27just memories, kind of if people know what happens there.
- 48:30You kind of already go into it with like the mental state of
- 48:33like, oh, things have happened here that are not so nice.
- 48:37Yeah. I wonder if that opens you up
- 48:40to, to believing things like you, if you go in expecting like
- 48:45all this place was like, really? Darn.
- 48:46Yeah, I, I think your brain does that.
- 48:48Like it just looks for things to happen, kind of like when you're
- 48:52looking for like you have this car in your head and then like
- 48:54you start getting that like pattern and you start seeing it
- 48:57out there more often because you're like looking for it.
- 48:58Oh, true. Subconsciously.
- 49:00Yes, I forgot what that's called, but yes.
- 49:02You're like, you're like manifesting.
- 49:04Yeah, in a way. In a way.
- 49:05But, but who knows? Who knows?
- 49:07So she didn't die there. Like I said, someone who did die
- 49:11at the hotel kind of sort of was Hollywood royalty, DW Griffith,
- 49:17who is kind of regarded as the the one who started the big like
- 49:22the movie industry. Whoa.
- 49:25The FAME director spent his sunset years at the hotel
- 49:28throughout the 1940s. He was a well dressed man and
- 49:31was seen around the hotel lobby with his signature cane.
- 49:35On July 23rd, 1948 he suffered a massive stroke in the hotel
- 49:39lobby right under the crystal chandelier.
- 49:43What a what a dramatic place to to die.
- 49:45Yep. But what a way to go out, dude.
- 49:47I know. But at this point he was already
- 49:49he was a way older. His fame had already like kind
- 49:52of dwindled out because the movies he made them back in like
- 49:551916 through 1920. So by the 1940s he was already a
- 49:59lot older. People said that he was kind of
- 50:01like irritable, not there fully mentally would spend most of his
- 50:06time reading and just walking around the lobby.
- 50:09He didn't necessarily die there. He did suffer his stroke, but
- 50:11that's I would say that's a big like transfer of energy.
- 50:14Like it ultimately led to his death.
- 50:17Dude, I know, and that crystal chandelier stayed there for a
- 50:20very long time. Interesting.
- 50:22I couldn't find any recent pictures.
- 50:24Things are starting because. It's like a senior home now, so
- 50:26they probably don't advertise in.
- 50:28Yeah, I know. But if it's still there, that's
- 50:30scary. Things are becoming crystal
- 50:34clear. And that wasn't the first big
- 50:36like death experience. The 2nd and most infamous
- 50:40happened in 1962 where famed costume designer Irene Lentz
- 50:45committed suicide by jumping out of the window in room 1129 two
- 50:50weeks before her 61st birthday. So Irene Lance is a costume
- 50:55designer for the movie industry. She was super popular or well
- 50:59known for like her kind of suit inspired looks for women.
- 51:04So she did a lot of like dresses that were like pinstripe had big
- 51:07shoulders, very iconic. If you see some like movies, you
- 51:10would and you see like very similar outfits.
- 51:13It was most likely her cool. It is reported that she Irene
- 51:18widely distributed suicide notes, drank 2 bottles of vodka
- 51:22and slashed her wrist prior to jumping out the window.
- 51:27That happened in 1962. By the 1970's, the hotel's fame
- 51:31had began to diminish. The Knickerbocker Hotel had
- 51:34fondling disrepair and struggled to attract guests.
- 51:37The hotel was sold and converted to a senior living facility by
- 51:401972. All of this dark history
- 51:45plaguing the hotel seems to have manifested as supernatural
- 51:49activity. Occupants of room 1129 claim to
- 51:54feel a lingering chill in the room.
- 51:57Some say they feel an inexplicable urge to jump upon
- 52:00passing the window. There have been accounts of
- 52:03visitors claiming to have seen a disheveled woman standing by the
- 52:06windowsill at distance who disappears when they try to
- 52:10investigate. Interesting.
- 52:12A maintenance worker for the facility, Hector Garcia, told
- 52:16The Hollywood Reporter that many have seen her.
- 52:18When I work in the basement, shadows go by and doors close
- 52:21and open by themselves. No, thank you.
- 52:24Imagine you're like, OK, grandma, we're gonna put you in
- 52:26this facility and she's stuck in a room 1129.
- 52:30Nope. Nope.
- 52:32You go visit her and you're like grandma, who's that grandma
- 52:35your? Friend, your friend is here.
- 52:37You didn't tell me you had a guess.
- 52:39Grandma, why is she opening the window?
- 52:41Grandma, Why is she grab a watch?
- 52:42You jumping? That would scare me, seeing
- 52:45someone and then turning back and they're gone in an enclosed
- 52:48space. No.
- 52:50If it's in public like that, happens all the time.
- 52:52Yeah, Look, look back. They're gone.
- 52:54They walked away. Yeah, but in your room?
- 52:56Nope. So in this room, 1121. 11/29. 29
- 53:02The there's a chill. Turn off the AC.
- 53:05Yeah. Is it central?
- 53:07Is it central? You see?
- 53:08Or there's a there's a draft. There's a draft.
- 53:09Close the window. The window's not.
- 53:11Closed and then when you walk by the window you get a sudden urge
- 53:14to jump. Use that space man.
- 53:17Use your squats. Get those squats and get those
- 53:18box jumps in re re purpose that window.
- 53:21Do some burpees. Do some burpees.
- 53:23Damn dude that's crazy though. I don't know what that means,
- 53:26though. I've never had the sudden urge
- 53:28to jump. Do you just, like, look at the
- 53:31window? Like real longingly.
- 53:32Like, oh, I could. I could, I could.
- 53:36I won't, but I could. Never.
- 53:39But that is why I mean how high is?
- 53:42It's 11, it's on the 11th story, so it's pretty high up there.
- 53:46It's like one story but like 11 of them.
- 53:49That's crazy. Wow.
- 53:54Aside from that, there are even mentions of Marilyn Monroe's
- 53:57ghost floating around the hotel. Her ghost is rumored to haunt
- 54:02the ladies room where the hotel has housed their Lido Room bar.
- 54:08So the bar was called the Lido Room.
- 54:10So I guess during the time it was super famous and a lot of
- 54:15people went, they also had a bar that a lot of celebrities
- 54:19attended to. And in the years when it started
- 54:22to kind of dwindle and it wasn't like the hot spot to stay, a lot
- 54:25of celebrities would sneak there to like have a little fun and so
- 54:30go out for a little drink to spend the night.
- 54:32But not not it'd be a huge like fanfare like, oh, Marilyn
- 54:36Monroasting at this hotel. It was by that point it was kind
- 54:38of seedy, kind of dark, kind of very low key.
- 54:42So they went to go do improv. Yeah, definitely used to relive
- 54:44those days, you know, before the fame.
- 54:46Improv in the Bedroom Reports state that she has been seen
- 54:51staring at herself in the bathroom mirror.
- 54:54I will too. Another bar, Spirit, is known to
- 54:56knock down bottles, touch women's hands and pull on
- 54:59chairs. Consent, dude, come on.
- 55:03With your spirit or can Do you think they know how to ask?
- 55:09You know what? Maybe you can ask your your
- 55:11spirit. That's gonna be your.
- 55:13Soon I'll be like, you can do whatever you want, give me a
- 55:18safe word, OK. And then the the highlight, the
- 55:25the cute, the cute little story to the Knickerbocker Hotel is of
- 55:31Spec, the name of the ghost dog roaming the halls who once
- 55:35belonged to hotel manager Jack Matthews.
- 55:38Spec was said to manage the elevators on his own, pressing
- 55:43the buttons with his paws. Get the.
- 55:45Fuck out of here. That's the cutest to get ever.
- 55:47Literally imagine a dog running around and being like oh I gotta
- 55:50go home 410. Some have claimed to see his the
- 55:53apparition of a dog running down the halls or appearing in the
- 55:57elevator. Is there is there like a a
- 56:00mention of what kind of dog? There is.
- 56:03I'd have to search for it in one of the articles.
- 56:06Don't. Worry about it.
- 56:06Don't worry about it. That's cute as hell.
- 56:09It's like, I think to me, I think of like any spirits that
- 56:13are animals, dogs, cats, like those are pure spirits, you
- 56:16know, And that to me, just like that doesn't scare me.
- 56:20Like compared to like, oh, like spirits of humans and a little
- 56:23girl and a lady in white and the dude, whatever.
- 56:27Like a ghost dog, a spirit dog. It's just, it sounds so pure to
- 56:30me. And I'm like, wow, like I just I
- 56:32want to pet it. I want to like.
- 56:33An English setter. What is that?
- 56:37I'll search it up. I remember it being cute because
- 56:41I did look it up and I'm like, oh, that's bigger than I
- 56:43thought. Oh Gee, it's so cute.
- 56:45Very cute. It looks like a spotted golden
- 56:49retriever, kind of. But yeah, those are some of the
- 56:52hauntings and some of the the dark histories that have plagued
- 56:58the Knickerbocker Hotel. Next time I am walking in
- 57:03Hollywood and I see the Knickerbocker, I'm going to look
- 57:05up and remember this this podcast.
- 57:09And think of the 11th floor. Think of the 11th floor and then
- 57:11think of the dog. Yeah.
- 57:13And then that's what I'm going to be like subconsciously
- 57:16looking out for a ghost dog. And then you're going to see
- 57:18that specific dog you Gould, running around the hall.
- 57:21And and life will be all well and and happy and flowers and
- 57:25dandelions. Wow, that's so cool, Brian,
- 57:27this. Made me want to visit but it's
- 57:29like there are apartments now. You can't just be like, oh hi, I
- 57:33want to, I'm sure walking. Check out the lobby maybe?
- 57:36True, but they're going to be like who you trying to see?
- 57:39The ghost dog. Where's the dog?
- 57:43I need a Petit. Dang, that's true.
- 57:45That'd be cool though. If we're ever in the area and
- 57:47you know we're not going out of our way to be in two hours of
- 57:49traffic to get there, I would be down to like walk by it.
- 57:52Dude, it's super close to like to like the the Hollywood movie
- 57:56things. It's like a thing a mile out
- 57:58from like the Chinese theater. Cool.
- 57:59Oh yeah. So it's all that.
- 58:00Yeah, it's all around there. That's.
- 58:01Cool, when I was looking around the map it's like like 3 miles
- 58:05from the Hollywood sign. Wow.
- 58:06Well, I'll tell you this friend. Thank you for sharing.
- 58:10You're a great storyteller. Thank you, I wrote this as like
- 58:13an essay and that's how I read it.
- 58:17That was fun though. Look, it even looks spooky.
- 58:20Yeah. Is it the Yeah, Yeah.
- 58:22That like old school, like billboard, like sign.
- 58:25Did you ever work when you were there I.
- 58:26Don't maybe, but I don't remember.
- 58:28I I did a couple events like early on in, in Hollywood,
- 58:31downtown and all those areas, but never like I never had that
- 58:36building in my, you know, my arsenal of famous buildings.
- 58:40Yeah, that's so cool. I love, I love old buildings,
- 58:44like anything from that era, like 1920s to 1940s.
- 58:47I think it's so interesting. Like what is the golden age of
- 58:49Hollywood? Yeah.
- 58:51Wow. Hey, what do you say?
- 58:53What do you say the the Knickerbocker?
- 58:56Staying at the Knickerbocker. Hey, let's go get a drink at the
- 59:00Knickerbocker. Let's go put a ghost dog.
- 59:02Hey, what do you say? Oh, the the chandelier might
- 59:07still be there. This looks like a very modern
- 59:09picture. That's a nice chandelier, OK.
- 59:11And think about the fact that DW Griffith had a stroke under
- 59:14there. Like I said, good way to go out
- 59:18fancy under the fancy chandelier made of oh.
- 59:20My God, you he was. He saw the lights.
- 59:23He he said this is my time. I'm going.
- 59:27This is my sign. But Yep, like I said, I love
- 59:33spooky stories. I love ghosts.
- 59:34I think they exist. Would you spend the night with
- 59:37me at the Queen Mary? Yes, and we will do an episode
- 59:40there, OK, with our camera and our equipment.
- 59:44And what's the thing called the electromagnetic EMF readers?
- 59:47Yep, I'm done. I'm done.
- 59:50I've been wanting to buy them and I need a reason to.
- 59:52They have like their sections where we when we did the ghost
- 59:55tour. Oh, because you did the Ghost
- 59:58Tour? Yeah, it was really fun.
- 1:00:00They had like the different sections in the boat and we went
- 1:00:02down and like the, the, the tour guide was super cool and he was
- 1:00:06like really interactive with the with the crowd and stuff.
- 1:00:09But he took us to the pool and I really want to go to the.
- 1:00:11Pool. Me too.
- 1:00:12Quartz, you know, that's like a the pool.
- 1:00:14'S made of. Quartz there's like, yeah,
- 1:00:16there's like walls or like the, I don't know what exactly, but
- 1:00:18there's a lot of. Quartz in there that trapped
- 1:00:20some energy. That is totally a portal.
- 1:00:22Like it's a portal. It's crazy.
- 1:00:24But that'll be another episode. But I am down to go spend the
- 1:00:28night. There's a haunted room not
- 1:00:30there, but I'm down maybe next door.
- 1:00:33No, I'd like to do the haunted room.
- 1:00:35Well, I mean whatever happens happens.
- 1:00:37Whatever room we get booked, we will go.
- 1:00:40Do you think our friends want to join this?
- 1:00:43Yeah, of course they're down. Really, I've thrown the idea
- 1:00:46around to Melissa and I don't know if she's down.
- 1:00:49If I. I think they were they said
- 1:00:51they'd be down to stay, but not to like ghost Hunt.
- 1:00:53But I want to go. Oh, that's.
- 1:00:54Fine, they can stay in the room. We can go.
- 1:00:56No. Because they're going to stay in
- 1:00:57the room alone and then weird shit's going to.
- 1:00:58Happen. I know Goose is down.
- 1:00:59Goose is down to ghost hunt. I know she'd be down.
- 1:01:01We're going to leave them there with their own.
- 1:01:05There'll be two investigations. They stay in the room and they
- 1:01:09record what they what they witnessed, and then we'll walk
- 1:01:12the halls. It's got to be like at midnight
- 1:01:13and stuff dude. 2 in the morning, the reaping hour.
- 1:01:16Do you think like, if you do that, you'll walk out and you'll
- 1:01:18see other people doing the same thing?
- 1:01:19Absolutely. I think people do that a lot,
- 1:01:21yeah. Like they go there, they have
- 1:01:22like their equipment. Any good emfs?
- 1:01:25Hey, how's your EMF looking? Is it reading good?
- 1:01:27Yeah, you you find any hotspots? Look at mine, it's my phone.
- 1:01:31Look, I found a picture of a child and it's just someone's
- 1:01:33child, but you put a black and white filter.
- 1:01:36Check this picture out. It's the random picture you
- 1:01:38found. What do you think?
- 1:01:39Look, it's a selfie. Be in the bathroom.
- 1:01:43What do you think? You see it?
- 1:01:44Do you see it? It's crazy, right I?
- 1:01:45Remember the fact that I'm not wearing a shirt, but do you see
- 1:01:47it? That's that's someone else's
- 1:01:51shadow. I'll.
- 1:01:51Censor it when I put it on Instagram.
- 1:01:55I'm down, if you'd like to join us, we'll give a date.
- 1:01:58Yeah, no. Man, no, I'm just kidding.
- 1:02:00No, we're not going to. Do it.
- 1:02:01No, unless, unless you want to ghost hunt like you're one of
- 1:02:03our friends and you want to ghost hunt like hit us up.
- 1:02:08The ghost sliding himself up. I'm down.
- 1:02:09The one that's going to follow you home?
- 1:02:11Nope, Jerry. Nope.
- 1:02:16Well, Nope. Hope you like the RA paranormal
- 1:02:19episode. We would like to have more on
- 1:02:20different subjects. Yeah, like I wanna talk about
- 1:02:25like, witchcraft and Bruhedia. I know someone who'd be perfect.
- 1:02:29For that, I know that 'd be good and we can learn and ask
- 1:02:34questions. Yes, we can.
- 1:02:35OK, we'll see. We'll see.
- 1:02:36We'll have to ask around. Let us know in the comments.
- 1:02:39Yeah, What? What do you want to listen to?
- 1:02:41What do you want us to research? I think we should also look into
- 1:02:45UFOs or aliens some more, especially like those Mexican
- 1:02:49aliens that came out like last year.
- 1:02:52There's a bunch of new stuff and like the stuff that's been on
- 1:02:55the news recently and it's like, wow, like declassified files,
- 1:02:58dude. I know I really wanted a deep
- 1:03:00dive, but that was a lot of information.
- 1:03:02It's. OK, No, that could be something
- 1:03:04we research on our own time and once we're ready, we'll present
- 1:03:07I'll. Take a speech class.
- 1:03:09Yeah. Also, like we said we did, we do
- 1:03:13have our sources. Those will be listed in the show
- 1:03:17notes, Yeah. Check them out.
- 1:03:18Yep, I did use Fact Check me, PBS, Socal, a website called LA
- 1:03:25Curb, The Hollywood Reporter, some individually like managed
- 1:03:34like blogs, this place called Travelanch.
- 1:03:37So if we don't have the most like authentic sources.
- 1:03:40Don't worry about. It at least I didn't make it up
- 1:03:43on myself. I used someone else's made-up
- 1:03:44information. It also would have been super
- 1:03:46fascinating and I would have been impressed if he just said I
- 1:03:49just came up with that on the spot guys that just lied.
- 1:03:51Sorry guys. Those people aren't real.
- 1:03:53Those none of the. Names.
- 1:03:54Houdini what? That's the most made-up name
- 1:03:56I've ever. Heard you've only heard about it
- 1:03:58in Dua Lipa Song. Yeah, that's where I got the
- 1:04:00inspiration. There you go.
- 1:04:02There you go. Wow.
