- The Mouselets: Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of Sisters Sisters. Joined today by two guest hosts, Mouselit A and Mouselit Three. Hello. Hello, everyone. Hello. That was why there was a missing kind of head bob on the bod because neither of them were dancing to the music, so I was feeling kind of self conscious. Well, also for me the music was jumping around and slowing down and speeding up, and I couldn't tell if you could hear it. So I was dancing, trying to dance in a bit. That wasn't happening. We actually just got back from a little hang, the three of us, plus Mouse Lit J, Mouse Lit Three's husband, at six flags. And that inspired our topic for today's episode. So you'll get to hear a little bit more about it when we get to it. But it was a good it was a good time. ⁓ we also got to see Mouse Lit Three and Mouse Let J's house. I thought you would give like a little update, maybe talk about your inspo, next project, kind of what's going on with the house. I feel like I don't know if it was the last time I was on the podcast or two times ago, but It was touched on that I was in the process of buying a house, but we didn't actually say where and it's sort of relevant, ⁓ which is that Mausa Jay and I bought a house in Saratoga Springs, New York, which is relevant because of the hotel, obviously, ⁓ in Disney. And we moved in, we've sort of been working on the house. I have to go back to us talking and sitting on the ground. I just did a full podcast episode about the Sarat or not podcast, YouTube video about the Saratoga Springs resort. You should really watch it. I'm that one I'm going to watch. Maybe that'll get that me get me back on the It might inspire you all right. Continue with your house update. Well, so we we're we've been in the process of ⁓ we want to do a lot of work on it, ⁓ both inside and outside. So we've been working on the exterior for a couple of months and we started working on the interior back in July, and then we moved in in the end of July. So we've been here for a l I guess a little over a month now. and the house was built in the sixties and it wasn't really changed too much from ⁓ when it was originally built. So we are sort of updating it and renovating it, but not making it too modern, trying to keep the house's sort of original character. Some things were changed that we're sort of restoring them back to how they were originally. ⁓ so Mouse J and I are very mainly him, but we're we're very crafty. We like a lot of DIY stuff. ⁓ and so we are really excited to be doing what we're doing. I will say things are a little bit messy if you're watching on video. ⁓ This is a very clean corner of the house. I think it's the only corner of the house that doesn't have like boxes or random stuff piled up, at least on the second floor. So it's definitely a bit of a journey, but we're excited to be homeowners and ⁓ not renting anymore, living in an apartment, but living in like a real neighborhood. And I finally feel like Mouselit one and Mouslet Two and Mouse Let A and Mouse Lit C have ⁓ sort of watching them over the past couple of years move into their houses and become home homeowners and Have neighbors and like live on a quieter street was really cool to see. And so we're very excited to be ⁓ doing that now as well. Settling down. Mouse too and Mouse Day got to see it this weekend. What did you think? Some things were in in in progress for sure. It's not officially like buttoned up, but what do you think? I mean, I think I say all the time that I'm a big fan of your and Mouse Jay's style. So every time I see something you guys do, I feel ⁓ Some jealousy. So I really I really like what you guys have going on so far. And we'll be back in like a month or two, maybe like two months, ⁓ for another little party. And I'm excited to see ⁓ how much further you guys even take it in the even in this next month. So I yeah, it looks great. Lots of progress being made. I didn't see the house before you guys got it. ⁓ but I like kind of know from a lot of pictures and stuff that you have that it looks it's looking good. It's looking good. Thank you. I was just gonna add that in case the listeners don't know, Mouse Lit between the three mouse lit children, ⁓ Mouse Lit two and I have very similar like interior design tastes. ⁓ and of course that translates to mouse lit A as More mouse I feel like B even. I feel like Mouse Lit One's interior design is similar to ⁓ Mama Mouselit, which is not in a bad way. It's not that Mouse Lit one has motherly tastes. Are you insulting Mama Mouse Lit too? No, I just mean that. Why that be an insult at all? Because sometimes it's generational. Like it doesn't look like it's a mama, Mouse. Anyway. If if you were if you if you didn't know where you were and you woke up and you were in Mouse at one's house, you'd think that you were in the house that the three Mouse kids grew up in and vice versa. They are so layout. Yeah. Our houses is very s are very similar. ⁓ okay, a couple of other updates. We're excited. Thank you. We are going to Olany in two weeks from the release date of this episode. We will be flying to Olanani. So I'll be on two more episodes and then I'll take a week off and Mouse Let One will be on here. Crazy. We have so much at three. Likely Mouse at three as well. Maybe Mouse Let C will come on once. I don't know. For the first time ever. Sec like second time. I think he would he was on the very quick little interview once about something, I think, with him. Him and his basement desk. So funny. But yeah, we are getting ready. So I told Mouse Day, I said, you gotta watch Moana. We were in the car driving back from New York and I gave her a play by play. I played each of the songs and then I would pause it and I'd say, okay, here's what's happening in the movie. Trying to restore the heart of Tafiti. They're doing all this stuff. And then I said we should watch it. So what did you think of what do you think of Moana thus far? From me describing it and hearing the music. Yeah, I realized I had no idea what the plot of Moana was. Like I never even thought about it. I know it's popular. I just haven't seen it. Never thought about it and it was really helpful to like hear the soundtrack and have you explain it. I thought it was ⁓ like a really unique movie. And ⁓ yeah, it's nice. I want to clarify something you said in a previous podcast about what we'll we will be doing in Olani. ⁓ you made a comment about what we'll be doing at Pearl Harbor and you said, ⁓ we're just gonna like go quick. We're not gonna go on that. We're not gonna go on. That takes a ferry. And that is incorrect. We will be seeing the USS Arizona Memorial. That is very important to me. It's on my list. So I just wanted to put it out there that we will be doing that. We're gonna be spending some ample hours at Pearl Harbor. and I also I booked our just today, the day we're recording this, I booked our surfing lesson. So we're gonna take a surfing lesson in Waikiki and I'm very excited. How do you think that's gonna go? I mean, both of you are very ath athletic. So I think it it will go like as good as but ⁓ do you have any surfing experience at all? No, like no I could paddle board, but I can snowboard, but I know they're very different boards and it's a very different thing. and but the person I spoke to ha they ⁓ he gets beginners all the time. I said that we have never surfed before and he said, even better, this will be so much fun. I saw kids kids learn it. So I feel like like I can do it. If kids can do it, we can do it. We can do it. I I bet we can do it. So hopefully we can like take some recordings while we're doing it. Yes. and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm very excited as well. The last thing I wanted to say is we're doing a tour of Kalua Ranch. I was talking to Mama Mouselit. We were on a very long phone call. You can hear more about it on sitting on the ground talking if you want. But I was like, ⁓ there's like they filmed Jurassic there. I was like, never seen it. And she goes, You've never seen Jurassic? I said, No. You have Jurassic Yeah. Jurassic Park. Why yeah, why are you not saying Jurassic Park? Yeah. Is there a diff is there a difference? It's Jurassic Park. Maybe that's why she was confused and she kept saying Jurassic Park and I said, Yeah, Jurassic. This sort of is I will say also f I first of all, I've never ever heard of it referred to as just Jurassic. Second of all, that's like mom calling J. Crew crew. Again, just kinda like just her thing. I love Jurassic. It's Jurassic World. Jurassic Park is the original. Those movies came out in like 70s, 80s, they're like iconic, but then there were no movies for decades. And then Jurassic World is like the new modern franchise. So I guess you could take Drac Jurassic to encompass both of those two franchises, but that's what you were doing, right? Are are you a big fan of Jurassic? Jurassic Park is stop saying that. Jurassic World. ⁓ yes. Admittedly, I've never seen Jurassic Park. But I it's on my list. I'm sort of I wanted to finish all of the Jurassic Worlds, which after moving to this house, I've I've just been randomly at nights while like unpacking, consuming a ton of like T V or movie content. And I watched all three of the new Jurassic Worlds besides the original. I think there's three I think there's four total. ⁓ and I watched all three of them. They were all pretty bad, but good but bad. But I want to watch Jurassic World. I'm not surprised the mom has seen Jurassic Park. Jurassic Park like iconic. I want to say Jurassic Park was like the Barbie of its time. Like in my mind, like when Jurassic Park came out, everybody was talking about it and everybody went to go see it. To clarify, I believe it was the nineties, not not the yeah. I think it was the early nineties. I I remember too being at my at my babysitters and being like five and being told, Okay, leave the room. The bigger kids are watching Jurassic Park and I remember seeing a couple clips and just being terrified. So I never went back and watched it. The nine the nineties? Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was the early nineties. Somebody ⁓ in the comments. They're actually really good. I like the the world that they created. The lore, as you would say. Wow, I've like never had any interest, and I still don't have a single bit of interest in watching this, but You never saw Jurassic World in twenty fifteen. How about the Meg? ⁓ no, and I don't want to hear about the Meg. This is the perfect segue. The guy I work with talks about the Meg all the time. Not the third post podcast, a different man. ⁓ and that's what you missed. Hungry. There's actually kind of a lot of like random news. Yeah, I was just gonna say there's kind of a lot of random news this week. We're still coming off the heels of D twenty three, so no major headlines, but here's a quick list. Compiled by Moi. First up, Indiana Jones in Disneyland, that closed ⁓ as of today. So the day we're recording it is September eighth. And it's a little button for Mouse Leday. She's very upset. Really quick, the last time I was at Disneyland was in twenty last time I was there, it was twenty twenty four, I think. I I don't know. Whenever I was there last it was closed. It was twenty four. So and I really like or it was twenty twenty five. And I really liked that ride and then the time before that I think I was like twenty nineteen, so last time I've been to Disneyland. So I'm super bummed that we're gonna be in Disneyland and this ride is closed yet again. It might reopen. It doesn't have a reopening date yet, but it might reopen early, so It's just a refurb. It's just a constant refurb that this ride needs. Very annoying. ⁓ other things. Is the ride that's coming to sorry, some listeners like me are might be wondering, is the ride that's coming to Tropical Americas completely different from this one? Yes. In in terms of feel and No, feel will be similar. It'll be similar to the feel of dinosaur. But but it's like which is similar to the feel of the one in Disneyland. Correct. Have you never been ⁓ you've only I forgot. Maybe we need a trip to Disneyland with you. You probably would like to. Yeah. I went to Disneyland. Don't forget it. Thousand eight though. Maybe next year. Maybe next year. We're going on a road trip to ⁓ from on on Route sixty six. You're not invited on that part, but maybe we could meet in Disneyland, pop there for like two days. Who's going on a road trip? Me and Massa and Massa too. ⁓ that's cute. All the way across the country? No. No, we're gonna take Arizona. Just drive in and then drive. I'd barely call it a road trip. More of a more of a commute. Maybe like a flight? Cheaper flight to Arizona. What I told ⁓ you. Have you seen the Black Mirror episode? You should watch the Black Mirror. I've never seen anything but the Black Mirror in the middle of the desert. Next piece of news Disneyland ticket booths are being torn down. This is just something I've been kind of tracking. They're doing they're gonna do a big project. No, it's a big deal. If you know, you know. If you just waited online recently at those ticket booths, you would know for a D twenty three type thing. Anyway, those are being torn down, so this will come up later. Torn down and replaced with You'll see. But we don't know we don't know yet. It's preparing for the future, like huge, huge project that'll come to Disneyland probably. ⁓ okay, mouse lit A, third bullet. Slinky Dog Dash is closed for a week. It was closed for a full week. No, but not on purpose. There was an issue with the ride. ⁓ yeah. I could see that it was crazy on social media because people were very upset about it. ⁓ I would I would be upset about that too. Sometimes they will even issue, like the vice president of the parks when you open the app, will issue an apology if a ride is down. I don't know if they did it for that, but it happened one day when Rise was down the whole day. So you know they had a meeting about it and then they said for Slinky Dog Dash, meh. No, not a few years. It's a headlining attraction. All right. The next bullet. Play table. ⁓ some sort of play table situation was added to the test track shop. So clearly, again, D T D23 was recently because this is the fourth piece of news, the fourth headline. This is a good piece of news. This is a good piece of news because I saw it and I said, you know what? It's a play table with like cars. It looks sort of like an air hockey table that has cars on it. I'm like, they're really trying to add more kid friendly things into Epcot. And it's Hollywood Studios with Magic of Disney animation. I'm just like feeling I'm feeling excited about it. Yes, it's a small piece of news, but it shows that Disney is trying to build out more things for kids. I mean, I like where you're coming from, but I also kind of was reading that as they're putting kids' stuff in a shop so that the kids will be entertained while the parents shop instead of the parents feeling the need to exit the stuff. No, no, That's exactly where I thought you were going with it. And it's a pretty good money making idea because kids are. Vacation fun the little film is reopening on September twenty seventh. That's the Potetopia one or Potato Land, whatever it pot sorry, Potetopia is the store in New Jersey when Mouse Let One used to work for a business there and it was in a strip mall. Potato Land, that's Mouse Let that's sister sisters lore. If you have Mouse Let One? Yeah, Mouse Let One used to work in New Jersey and there was a potato stand called Potetopia. In the mall next to her office, and she always calls Potato Land Potetopia and we always mix it up. If you want another piece of floor, when I lived in South Boston, there was a restaurant called Potato Freaks. Okay. If you want another piece of floor, I've never seen Potetopia because I was for some reason getting a nice coffee. They told me I couldn't bring it in. So I just had to stand outside the theater while everybody watched some random potatoes. But you're not missing that much. We can see it when we go to Jollywood. Okay. Next piece of news, Mouse Lid A. Whoa, wait. No, I'm gonna take this one if that's okay. Yep. Go right ahead. Also, I'm gonna gonna rewrite this headline a bit. I'm gonna I think it's the first female genie. First woman to play a genie in Aladdin on Broadway. ⁓ she started playing her role in Sherry Shepherd. I will say the sentence in her spreadsheet is written like this first woman, Sherry Shepherd, as genie in Aladdin on Broadway. So I just pulled it together. Wait, that's so exciting. And I said, wait, no, I I I support it. I think the genie could be any Any gender. I'm a huge Aladdin on Broadway stan. I've seen it at least three times. It was a huge part of my coming out journey, but but also just like my my experience through being a high schooler and like having my eyes set on Broadway and then wanting to go pursue theater. Aladdin was like Aladdin on Broadway specifically was like a huge part of that, like one of my favorite shows at the time. And again, I saw it a million times. ⁓ I almost did it in my basement. But anyway, ⁓ so this is really exciting news. Wow. How progressive. Never seen it. Only 12 years later. It's good. You should see it. It's pretty good. I don't like once. You saw it on Broadway? I I saw it on Broadway once. Yep. With my family. I think it's good. I think they do a good job with it. It's a spectacle. So if you're looking for a spectacle, that's I the music. I haven't seen the Aladdin the live action Aladdin even, so. You should ⁓ I don't love live action movies. Well, cartoons are bust. Live action move have you seen the live action move on? It's good. It's really good. No, the only ⁓ live action I've seen is Beauty and the Beast. You I got tricked on April Fool's Day that there was a live action, Princess and the Frog, coming, and I was so excited I posted about it in the story. If you posted about it on TikTok, you would have gotten flamed. No, like literally. Mouse Lit A next bullet. The coral reef restaurant is closed for refurbishment. Yep. I don't ever pop by the coral reef. It's currently closed. Next up, the twenty twenty six candlelight. I didn't get it. The twenty twenty six candlelight process processional celebrity have been announced. ⁓ I'll read you list. Oli Cravalo, who I believe plays Moana, and I definitely messed up that name. ⁓ Gary Sinise. Never heard of him. Anyone know Gary? Nope. Whoopi Goldberg. Read me a name you know, I think. Well Beagle but Robin Roberts, who I think used to potentially be on the Today show. she does Good Morning America, I think. Yeah, one of those. Yep. She's famous for something. Jason Kelsey. Is that Travis Kelsey's brother? Yes. That is weird. Neil Patrick Harris, obviously. Football player. Lauren Daigle. Sorry, Lauren, I'm not sure who you are. The sing a singer, perhaps, from my quick Google search. Ralph Mach Ralph Machio. Another man that I'm not as familiar with. Ralph, he was in the karate kid. Wow, Ralph. I feel like they're bringing some niche celebrities out. Many, many karate kids. All of them. Henry Winkler, icon. Love you, Henry. He's in arrested development. That person I know. Lacey Chabert, or whatever that woman's name is, Gretchen Wieners. Gretchen Wieners. Jody Benson. Seymo Liu, who is in Shang Chi, and Eva Longoria. Very, very random. That Eva Longoria would be interested in doing that. I'm shocked. Desperate Housewives. So that's the lineup. There's a couple to be announced if you're planning on going. I'm sure Mouse One will talk about it more because she's sort of her thing. Never really been mine. Okay, I'll run through a little bit more. Just I'll run through the last couple things. Magic of Disney Animation is opening on September 14th. Very, very, very excited about that. ⁓ Typhoon Lagoon, seasonal closure is by the time this is released, it's basically going to be seasonally closed. Bit of a Bummer, bad news. They just announced that they will no longer be providing any waterproof wheelchairs, which I think is a huge miss. And ⁓ Disney, if you're listening, that really should change because that's a big loss to people who like need a waterproof wheelchair. And it's very, very, very odd. Is that at the water parks? The water park specific or water park specific. It's like a it's crazy. Big loss of accessibility. ⁓ and then there's a new Society of Explorers and Adventures Clue, which we'll cover next week when Mouse One is back. So that was the news. Honestly, kind of a good rundown. We're coming back from D twenty three. We're rebounding with some pretty good news. So any closing thoughts on the news? I hear correctly. ⁓ my gosh, I guess you don't listen to the podcast. It's the new I do listen to the podcast, but sometimes people don't know the name. Right, okay. Hollywood studios. The thing that's been exterior, another yeah. The main topic of today's episode is 10 things that Disney does better than other amusement parks. Where does this come from? It comes from the fact that we just visited Six Flags and we said, wow, it was fun, but it just shows the things that Disney does so much better. So we've compiled a list of 10 things. We're gonna have a little discussion, talking about our Six Flags experience and also just talking about like what sets Disney apart. ⁓ all right, I'll kick it off. The first one, this is the biggest one for me, theming. That Six Flags, the theming and the immersion is just not where Disney is. So when we went, we went to Six Flags Gridscape, but this would go for any amusement park other than Storyland, probably. If you know you know. But we went into Six Flags and they had this little area called Ghost Town. Okay, let's let's run through Ghost Town. Nelson Day, you want to run through kind of what what was up in Ghost Town, the rides, the vibe. Well, Ghost Town ⁓ was again meant to originally be a little edgier than some of the other things they had in the park. when it was originally made, it was like kind of the ⁓ cowboys, robbers. They had a saloon, they had ⁓ a like a runaway mine train type roller coaster. I think some of the which kind of goes into like theming, but Over time, I think they really relied in that area on like live entertainment and it's not really there anymore. So again, it kinda gave this like wild, wild wild, wild west type ⁓ theming, but it it left something to be a little desired, I think. But say I think of all the lands in Six Flags, th that one was the best themed. Still felt lesser than Frontierland at Disney, but I feel like that was the best theme. 'Cause the other areas we would walk into like I don't even know. There like a c maybe a cars themed area, but then it had an Al Capone pizzeria, which was closed. It was like ⁓ confusing 'cause it was sort of like what the theming was over there. The train Yeah, it was and then there was a story kind of a story area, but it wasn't fully kind of immersive. It was like almost. That's what Tinkertown. Tinkertown was Yep. There's a themed children's area. Tinkertown was decently themed, other than some of the abandoned stuff. And then the roller coasters in the back There was no there was no theming. There was no it was just kinda like random roller coasters plopped down. Whereas obviously when you go to Disney, and actually initially I had this word as immersive, but I didn't want Mouse Day to get angry because she hates the word immersive with Disney. She thinks they take it too far. You're not reacting, Mouse Day. You don't think that's true? ⁓ I no, I do think it's true. I think yeah, that that word needs to be banned sometimes from Disney ⁓ imagination. That was like a slow burn. Slow burn. anyway, when you go to Disney, every single land is themed incredibly well. Like it is immersive, the buildings are done right, the f the ground, like every single thing, the trees are specialized for that area. And I just in in in contrast when we were at Six Flags. Like there was a ride we were walking up to and I said to Mousel too, I said, I think we're on like the back side of this ride. Like we must need to walk around the whole thing to get to the front. And she goes, Nope, there's the entrance right over there. And like ten feet away from the very themed entrance, you know, at like I wouldn't say very themed, but well, the ride name and in the ride font. I don't know. But right next to it was a like a garage door. Utility door. Clearly like an a yeah, utility door. And they didn't even paint the door the same color as the wall, the metal wall that it was up against. Like it was just a big white door right in the middle of the the building. So, you know, things like that and certain places that are for cast members or team members only are just disguised very poorly. ⁓ there was a restaurant that we walked past that had just like I don't even know. It looks like black garbage bags like taped on the inside, but it's obviously ⁓ yeah, that one in Timbertown. The one over in Tinker, yeah. ⁓ Timbertown, not Tinkertown. I thought it was sort of like Tinker Toy setup. But I see Timbertown. Anyway, ⁓ but the ground is a great example of that where in Six Flags and probably like everywhere besides Disney and I guess maybe Universal. The ground is it was just asphalt. It was pavement. ⁓ the cars area did have a double yellow line painted, so I'll give ⁓ that. That's true. Okay. There you go. There you go. ⁓ but you know, everywhere else there's not special concrete that's being poured with like brick coming out because it's supposed to look older or there's like little like sh ⁓ animal footprints going through that have been that were set when they poured the concrete. Like the money's not there and but also they just don't really care as much. And it feels much more like a theme park where I feel like in Disney when you're being sold things it's not as ⁓ Obvious versus here it's literally just like kind of right in your face. And also the stores aren't themed at all. I'd say the stores are actually in terrible shape. The interior of the stores. Don't cover too many things. Uming? Yeah, I think two things. Also, I noticed ⁓ like say we went from section to section of the park. Throughout, they're just playing radio hits on speakers. Like just re regular, like Taylor Swift, whatever else is just like odd playing. And I think it really and this is up like of course what you get at Disney, but if I'm standing in the section of this particular park that's called Ghost Town, I don't want to hear a Taylor Swift song. I want to hear like something that's related to that theme. And then when I walk over to the water park area, I don't know, maybe they can play music that aligns better with that. And that's obviously something you absolutely get at Disney. The even the the little things, especially like the hotels. I'm just thinking of the hotels alone at Disney. You get that. And ⁓ I think that could have really helped. Like when we walked in, it was kind of a cutesy ⁓ entry point. And if they were just playing music that aligned with the theming, I think that could have gone a long way. ⁓ even like loading on to the rides, I just felt like we needed in the queue like music or or something when getting on the ride. It just felt like we were just kind of awkwardly in silence almost. ⁓ the cues, I would say another thing. And Disney didn't always used to have like super plused cues. It's kind of the buzzword that Disney adds things that make sitting in a queue or waiting in the queue more desirable, theming and things. The cues were just like, Weaving in and out. There's no theming at all. And the roller coasters, I'll say like the Thunder Mountain esque ride had like an abandoned railroad and had some theming, but not nearly like what Disney does. At the end of the day, you sort of feel like you're on a roller coaster. I will give the Six Flags some credit because the theming was kind of cute. Much cuter than Six Flags New England, ⁓ which I've been to a couple of times. ⁓ yeah. Cuter than Six Flags New England, but Six Flags New England with their whole superhero DC. element of it like that unifies pretty much every ride there. Yeah. Yeah, that pulls it together a little bit more. I'll agree with that. But I thought the entrance was very cute. I thought there was some ghost town was decently themed. The back area of the park was not very well themed. On theming there's also just like the cons sorry, we're jumping back. Theme. ⁓ even just like the there's no effort to unify things across the park, even like the fonts that the stores would use on the outside. Like right when you walk in, although that area was cute, I can picture like one store being right next to another and them using completely different like fonts and like brand identity. Like it it literally looked like compl two completely different stores and not in a good way. ⁓ and so land to land or menu to menu, it there just isn't any real effort to bring things together. I guess next topic. Theming last point. Yes, theme. It's just that like story or like kind of store storytelling. Like, okay, example, there's a ride called the Bobcat. What's the story? What's the story to this coaster? It's just a bobcat. Like, what is it? So ⁓ And they renamed it from the Bob sled to the Bobcat, but like the only thing is there's a Bobcat on top of the vehicle. There's no story. That's a great point. There's no story. Yeah. Okay, getting into I personally think this I personally think this rolls into upkeep. All right, we'll jump to upkeep bullet number eight. ⁓ okay. Yeah, yes. I mean, I think the upkeep and the way that Disney has so many cast members, they're picking up trash, they're cleaning things up, but also like I mean, Disney does it too. Disney and Universal do it too. They have things that don't work, they have effects that don't work or chipping paint in a line. But if you see like Like there's always chipping paint in Toy Story Mania Q. It like makes the news, like Walter's New World News Today posts about it, versus that everything was a little bit crusty and dusty here at Six Flags. There's a roller coaster. You can see from the road. Very iconic from when we used to go to Martha's, which is an ice cream place across the way. And it used to be the most vivid orange. And it was like paint peeling, painted, faded orange. ⁓ just the Upkeep ⁓ also I want to I just feel I feel sad for Six Flags right now. We had a fun time. It was fun. It's just like this is more about what Disney does well than what Six Flags does poorly. It actually exceeded my expectations. I have to say that. Same. I had a great time. We had a great, very fun day. I I thought it was gonna be worse. It just is is it very much is sort of a a product of its time where it used to be more popular and it was built so long ago that there are things that are probably there that are original to the park. And Disney just does a better job of like maintaining those and and yeah. I think this even talk can be ⁓ in the lens of like new technology. Like so we talked about this and sitting in the ground talking, but this theme park in particular was around and was built in the in the in the nineteen fifties. And there are two sections, Storytown and Ghost Town. So Storytown was from the fifties. That was a whole the like the whole premise was they had these little houses and they had like performances, ⁓ and these little area like like essentially just walk through areas and maybe like little kitty rides. And then they added Ghost Town, which was some which had a lot of like live entertainment shows about again, like cowboys and robbers and like a saloon and you'd play games and you'd watch shows. And I think as that has faded out because that is not the interest anymore and people want maybe you know, better technology or coasters or things like that. I think maybe with in some ways they didn't do a great job at like keeping up with the times. Whereas I think Disney can do a really good job at understanding when they have to modify their rides and and just Yeah, make updates. I think that's true. In terms of upkeep too, there's like the daily upkeep of yes, picking up trash and things, but there were times when let me see if this doesn't fit into a different Category. There were times that we couldn't figure out if a ride was open or not. Like there was this flume ride that we really wanted to go on, and there was like no way to really find out whether or not it was open. Then there was another water ride, sort of Cali River Rapids esque, that looks like it was open. There were cast members there, we saw them, and then turns out it was like closed for maintenance. But and then there was another ride that you could clearly see. Sorry, what's all the chuckling about? Did someone put bunny ears behind my head? Anyway. He's typing in the spreadsheet. Anyway, I'm definitely typing about what I'm talking about. There was an entire ride building that was like very obvious that you could see it and it was like, ooh, what's that? Like, what's that ride? And it turns out it's been closed since 2006 or something like that. And so the there's just like a lot of set it and forget it. A little too much. But something interesting about upkeep that Disney I mean, in general, I'll the one last thing I'll say kind of positive negative is the plants, the flowers, the outside of the park was like glorious, but the inside of the park could have used some kind of like landscaping. Disney's landscaping is perfection, literally perfection. ⁓ however, when we were riding the train in Great Escape in l in Six Flags, there was this abandoned jungletown walkthrough thing next to us. And I was like, It was so cool because I love abandoned things. And I was like, wow, this is very reminiscent of like everything that Disney has ever abandoned. Discovery Island. So like Disney does weirdly have terrible upkeep very occasionally with their abandoned things. And I felt a little bit of that with like Jungletown there that I was like, well, Disney's not perfect. I think Disney does a better job at hiding it from their guests. Yeah, Disney's like ashamed. Ashamed. They try to hide it. They don't always succeed, but they try to hide it. ⁓ whereas, hey, will you give some c sorry I feel like y we should share the context of what's happening to Six Flags, the park, and and what would that being one of the reasons why you wanted to go. Yeah. So this this particular park, again, Six Flags Great Escape has just been sold. Six Flags sold it to Enchanted Parks. So it's under new ownership. This is the last year. It happened, I think, during the year. So there's they're they're phasing out the Six Flags branding. And I didn't know if that meant they were going to really like scrap anything old that was the Story Town piece. Cause again, back in the fifty, this was like a a t ⁓ a music park called Storytown. So I didn't know like if they're gonna be phasing that out. So I just wanted to to go ⁓ and see it just in case. I guess we don't really know what's going to happen. And that might be part of why this particular park, Six Flags, maybe just gave up on. ⁓ but that's what we're kind of using using for the basis of this discussion. ⁓ but we're I'm we were saying as we're there, we're excited to see if these new owners maybe just give it some more life. But yeah, so next year it's it's not gonna be considered a six flags park and we'll see what happens. Yeah. Great, great idea. Thanks for the context on that. ⁓ yeah. Well both of you. Okay. Next up I'll jump back to bullet two. Navigation. Here's a little fun fact for you. When Animal Kingdom opened, Disney intentionally did not put a lot of signs up because they wanted people to go around the park and try to find their way and really truly be exploring. And they even had paths that were like not on a map to really get that feeling. And it was very unpopular. People were very confused. And Disney ended up adding signage after because people just could not find their way. And it was so different than what Disney had done in a park before. And I now like I know all the Disney parks like the back of my hand. And even when I go to a place that's less familiar, like the Disney, Disneyland Paris, the second park they added Adventure World. I can pretty much figure it out. It's pretty easy to follow. There's a lot of signs. We walked down at Six Flags. We walked down to a pool within the water park, trying to find a roller coaster that was in the back. There was like no signage. It was very hard to find your way around and find anything. We were just kind of like roaming around trying to find it. I don't know if there were any like paper maps that you could pick up. Yeah. And and I doubt they have an app. If they do, it's probably doubted. I think they do have an app, actually. Oof. I don't even think Disney's app is that good. So that app is probably Disney's app is definitely not very good. Yeah, you're right about that. Right. So I can only imagine what this app is. ⁓ but you know, there was the occasional sign that had a park map, but there were no like this way to Tinker Town, this way too, the Cyclone ride. Like there were there were no signs. You had to just like look through the trees through the rides and see the ride you wanted to go to and then just like find a path. Find your way. Literally. Yeah. Another weird thing is that you know, like Magic Kingdom Disneyland is the classic like hub and spoke style where the castle's in the middle and the land's split out. And Epcot, you walk in and you're like, the entire park is in front of you. In Animal Kingdom, the entire park is in front of you. In Hollywood Studios, the entire park. Mostly is in front of you. That was not the case here. You walk in and you're like off to the side, and then some of it's kind of behind you to the left. And to get there, there's like backstage paths. It was kind of circuitous and just the planning of the park was not It was I mean, it was just like more un it's clearly like unplanned. Like they've expanded over the years and it feels a little convoluted. Yeah, it is really weird. You would like walk past I'd say a third of the park was on one side of the entrance, and then you had to walk past the entrance to get to the other two-thirds of the park. Or even like one quarter instead of It was Yeah. It was just weird. Yeah, it was just weird. But I think Disney just does navigation very, very well and like other parks not as much. So we were kind of but it also made it fun because we were kind of finding our way and we like, ⁓ let's do this. So that kind of made it fun. Yeah. And maybe even in Disney, maybe if they don't have Maybe if you're not always looking at a sign, you're probably finding a cast member who can direct you to like anywhere. So that was like another piece not to put I feel like people might have seen that for the new villains land they recently did, I forget what it's called, but it was some sort of day that they were testing the sight lines of certain heights of certain buildings and rides. A balloon test engineering. The balloon tests. Yeah. So they like suspend balloons at the maximum height that a building or a ride will be and then walk around the park and see and and and test their hypotheses for what you can or can't see. ⁓ I feel like they would never have done that at six five. No, no. n never have done that test, but also never have even tried to if they're building a tall coaster over here, like, ⁓ let's plant some trees over here so that way it can't be seen. They just don't the stakes aren't high enough really for them. ⁓ but I think Disney does a good job of framing, literally like visually framing what you're supposed to see, what you're not supposed to see. Because at the end of the day, yeah, it's an amusement park versus a theme park and like that's the difference. Although I do think that this had some good themed areas. I'll jump to cast members because Mouslit A mentioned that. The cast members, the the workers, I don't know what they're called at Six Flags, they were doing a great job. What I noticed is that one, they're not in a themed costume. Makes sense, obviously. But like I I love in Ghost Town, right? Or Frontierland, whatever. If I'm there, I'm seeing someone in like a frontier themed outfit. And if they were wearing something kind of random, I'd it would sort of take me out of the moment. So as I feel like people don't think about that as much at Disney. Also just the sheer number of cast members that Walt Disney World has versus there were two people working every roller coaster. Like that was it. It was a very there was a lot less cast members. So those are the kind of things I noticed, the costumes, and then just like the number of cast members that were not there. I say the Disney cast members might have a bit more of a pep in their step than the Six Flags cast members. Passion for Disney. Passion for what they were doing. Yeah. This this one felt like it was more like when you're when you're watching someone and clearly they're just like doing their job. Versus in Disney, I feel like you kind of forget that it's their job. They do a good job of making you feel hundred percent welcome and and like that you can go up to a cast member, ask them anything versus this cast member. I think I I'm just more conscious of the fact that like this is what they do. They clock in and then at the end of the day they clock out. Agree with that. I think a disclaimer, we technically when we were there this past weekend, it's technically the off season. So it's possible that in their peak season of the summer, they have more employees roaming and things like that. ⁓ so we we went Labor Day weekend, but it was considered off season. So it's possible they have more, but I think it would have been helpful just like to see more employees just kind of like walking around, like going from place to place. If you had a question, you probably had to ask. an employee working a ride or working like ⁓ a a food stand or a shop. So that would have been a little hard. Yeah. I feel like in Disney you know that there are Like different, not even hierarchy, but just people have different roles. There's the like more custodians or like janitorial staff at Disney, then there's the rides, there's the shops, there's the more administrative people like walking around and they have like a little headphone or whatever. And a trash picker at Six Flags. And a trash picker upper, of course. ⁓ and then d there's other people too. There's photopast. There's there's firstly there's I feel like at Six Flags, there are two people on every ride. There's probably two people in every store, two people at every food counter. Definitely less. Speaking of janitorial staff, this is the one of the only areas. The next two bullets are I think the only things I will actually roast sort of six vlogs on. The bathrooms were really gross. ⁓ like they were filthy. Many of them were filthy. ⁓ it was a very unpleasant I think it's a little harsh. ⁓ my god, the bathroom over by the comet? Are you kidding me? I had to go in like six stalls before I found one that was acceptable. I don't know. I And I was being harsh. ⁓ I totally disagree. I can't get into bathrooms. ⁓ they had a good number of bathrooms, which I think was surprised. I I was surprised by the number of bathrooms and and the like the proximity of the bathrooms. That got very, very dirty. They were very dirty. They were missing soap and the toilets were not flushed. And they didn't want to defend. I'm defending Six Flags. I was in a way dirtier bathroom at Universal at the Marvel area they had. That was when the woman was wiping your shoes. Yeah, that was awful. That was awful. Well, I'll give Universal the same Feedback. Their bathrooms were not very clean. So my complaint about these bathrooms was I think that the soap had something wrong with it. Because I said at one point in the day I said, Guys, are you like I I first of all, I noticed that my my my fingers were like sticking together and we had like eaten. I was like, ⁓ maybe I didn't ⁓ we we ate lunch, we went to the bathroom, I came out of the bathroom and my fingers were sticking together. I said, This is odd. So I went back into the bathroom and I w scrubbed them again with soap, came back out, they were stickier than ever. I said, My fingers are sticking together. And I had everybody hold up their hand. They said, ours are too. And I think that there was something wrong with the soap. And that's gross to me. No, it wasn't I felt it was the soap. I mean, it was sticky for sure. But yeah, my biggest issue was just I think the bathrooms were very dirty and disgusting. moving on. The food. This is the other thing that I will roast. You know, as a vegetarian, I basically e need one vegetarian option and I can make do. I basically eat all vegetarian food, unless it has bananas in it, I will eat anything vegetarian. Well, Al Capone's Pizzeria was closed for whatever reason. ⁓ there was no vegetarian options at like three places we passed. So I walked over to Ghost Town, as one does, and I was gonna get a taco because they had mac and cheese, but they all had meat on it. I was gonna get a taco and they You can't have a regular taco, but you can have a walking taco. This is my own fault, FYI. This is you can have a walking taco. That's the only vegetarian thing on the menu. And I said, okay. I don't think it's your fault. What is a walking taco? And she like couldn't really explain it to me. And I was like, whatever, I'll have a walking taco. Okay, well, walking taco, which I think people must know because I'm pretty sure they sell these at Disneyland. And I know people like these. It was a bag of Doritos that was like sort of a longer shape of Doritos with nacho cheese sauce, lettuce, and tomatoes on it. The bag of Doritos was the plate. The bag of Doritos was was the vessel. And it wasn't even like the blue Doritos, which to me are like the normal plain ones. It was like nacho cheese flavored Doritos in a red bag, like spicy Doritos with scoops of hunks of like vegetables and and the the Doritos base to me and having it in that flimsy of a of a vessel was really upsetting to me. And I walked up to M2, I said, What what are you eating? I thought that she'd just open the bag herself. She goes, This is a walking taco, this is what they gave me. So then M2. What else did you at that meal? Yeah, Mouse Slip 3 gave me his side salad, which was great. ⁓ honestly. I mean it was but I need to say something about the walking taco. Disneyland sells these two. This is just like a thing. And if you eat walking tacos, I have a lot of questions. Power to you. Power to you. Power to you. But yeah, I just I personally hate Doritos. So I could never have I like Doritos. I just like it didn't fill me up. In general, I think we found the food options. I think that if they had, and they had a couple of good things, they had an Oktoberfest going on. But I think they they had great food. More people would come and be like, fun, like a little festival. And I think the food was bad. And also they I think you kind of agree, right? Yeah. Now, like, listen, we're not pretending we don't know this is a theme park. Like, we know it's a theme park. We know we're not going to a really, you know, high end restaurant. But I was like excited to eat just like theme park food. Like I was in the mood for theme park food. At first we were gonna get like chicken tenders, but they were up like sixteen or seventeen dollars. And I was just, I don't know, mm Call me naive. I just thought that was ridiculous. And then besides that, again, so many other things were closed. Like you'd think you'd get a pizza or like I don't even know where you could get a regular burger. I'm sure there was a place. But ⁓ where we ended up, I think was trying to be a little fancier for food. Like they had pulled pork and they had mac and cheese. But I think we could all agree that they left something to be desired. ⁓ they like served it to us in like cafeteria style. And it just like turned me off. It really turned me off how they were like s yeah, I felt like I was in like first grade, like like in a line in cafeteria. I didn't have the gross experience in the cafeteria because I think they just handed my bag of my walk of taco. But you 'cause you guys all keep it. Actually make you lause thinking. It's just I think that they could have food like food trucks exist. Food trucks are great. So so I know it's possible for them to have good food. And they didn't. So I feel like they need to do that. They were trying a little bit with the Oktoberfest, but it was only like one I think it was only one booth. And ⁓ I think they they were really pushing like the season pass holders. And I think if they just had a little bit more, a little bit more of like the seasonal or like interchangeable stands, that could do wonders. And so I was I yeah, I was bummed 'cause I like really excited to eat just like carnival y food. And I just we it did not do. It did a hit. It was also one of those one of those menus that ⁓ has like a couple photos on it, but it wasn't a great representation of the food at all. Like not even that they were duping us, but it just was like you'd think that they would have a photo. You'd think that they would have a photo of the walking taco so you would like know what it is. But there was something there was a chicken, a fajita chicken salad. And so I asked, I was like, Hey, what's the fajita chicken salad? And like there was no photo of it. There was no like description of what it was. So I had to just ask. And she like just gave me this sort of long winded explanation. She had to go into the fridge and like pull out a container of lettuce for me to just see what the base was. And it just it just really it left a lot to be desired. I'll say that. Yeah. We did get dirty sodas, which was just like a soda with like syrup. I don't know, it's a thing. ⁓ and those were fun. I think that those were fun. We got peaches and cream and raspberry. Raspberry. And I thought I'd never heard of a dirty soda before. So I was just I have just because I know people who go to that place called Swake, but ⁓ that was fun. And I think that this is an area that they probably will improve and could make this park like jump twenty percent in my mind if they had like a great option for food. So Okay. Last couple of things. These ones are are quicker because well, live entertainment. Mouse let A, why don't you take this one? Because you kinda came up with this one. Well, ⁓ I think a couple things. One, again, to reference just I think this park relied on that a lot more in the past. And it was very obvious that there were areas where there were stages or benches or extra seating that felt like it was for a reason and there was just nothing there. And it made me sad because I think it adds to like the kind of abandoned ⁓ lack of upkeep feeling when you're there. Because yeah, we we passed several areas. Where there clearly was a stage where at some point they had either ⁓ like a some sort of performance and they just didn't have it. And th there's a chance they have it in their peak time, which is like the middle of summer, but I just it got the feeling that they they really didn't do this kind of like entertainment anymore. Again, it was Oktoberfest and they did have a band in one area, which I think is nice. ⁓ but you could just tell that Some of these areas kind of like ⁓ relied on the entertainment. The Mad Hatter, I think, at one point, the Alice in Wonderland area had a Mad Hatter, and I think you're supposed to go and like participate in some sort of like Don't make me sad. Do not make me sad. No and nobody showed up to it. And he walked away as we were walking over and we clearly saw that. He said hi. And he was higher as he walked past us walking. As he walked away. If people had gone on his one o'clock tour, we showed up at one fifteen. If people had gone on his one o'clock tour, he would have felt a little more confident, he would have stopped his. I genuinely cannot be sad after last week. So yeah. There was a surprising number of stages though. I have to say. Like if if there really was a performance of some kind happening at every one of those stages, I I would have been surprised by how many stages there were. They would even remove the signs. Like up by the the what was it? The old there was an old lady who lived in a shoe. Yeah. Up by her shoe, there was a little thing that said today's show times and then there was just like empty spaces. Blanks. And I yeah, if they could just remove that sign, I would have never even known that there was a show. I know. Now it makes me sad. Yeah, it makes me sad. When I went to Six Flags, New England, I told the story on the podcast before. When I went to Six Flags, New England, years and years and years and years and years ago, ⁓ There was a show going on and we were kind of sitting in that area. The show started. ⁓ no. We were the only three. We had just like sitting on the bench. Like, I don't know what we were doing. The show started. No, I think this is like maybe it could have been at Lake Compounds, too. I don't know where it was. Okay. But I know that I was sitting there watching a show with two friends. ⁓ the show started, no one else is there. It's just us watching the show. They're performing basically for us. I think they still would have done the show if we hadn't been there. It was a it was like a twenty minute show. I don't know how long it was. It felt endless. It was for children, for babies, basically. But because we were the only ones watching it, and they were like basically forced clearly to perform, we felt like we had to watch it. It was very awful. I actually can't even imagine that. Yeah, I have to stop. All right. Next up, the merch. What I want to say about this is that Disney has incredible intellectual property and Six Flex does not. And so just naturally, their merch isn't gonna be that good. They had a couple cool things. Tributes to Storytime. Honestly honestly, it wasn't that bad. Like, yeah, I liked they had they had some things that were like yes, that were references to Story Town, the OG park. I thought that was cool because that's what I was looking for. I wanted to like to see like ⁓ I wanted to see them reference what was there from day one. So they did have that. And then they just had like some generic like six flag shirts and like I guess it was okay, but I think Which we kinda talked about. Like every store just I guess just kind of felt random. It maybe would have been fun if like the stores themselves kind of met a theme a little better. ⁓ but you're right, like nothing Disney is just on its own level w when it comes to IP and things like that. I do think the merch was okay. Like what they were selling was okay, but the stores themselves were Like the ext I'm thinking about them. The exterior of the stores had some theming. Like there was that store that was called like Attitude or whatever and it was I I I I but I I'm trying to think of what the building was. There's like a like a Swiss chalet one. Yeah, yeah. But you go inside and it looks like one of those stores that is like in the middle of your mall, like an interior mall, and it's it's like a temporary store. Like the store like it's it's just a random store that's selling random stuff and you know they just got there and they're about to leave. And it's like One of those stores where it's like turquoise walls, they have the like poop emoji heat system to hang things. Poop emoji rainbow poop emoji hats. And the entire store smells weird and it there's vending machines in the store. And it's just like they they can present a better picture. Because the merch they have was okay. They need to paint the walls white. They need to put some air freshments in there, get rid of the poop emoji hats. Like wait, now such the funniest thing to read. And there are a bunch of like poop emoji hats, right? On the stand, he goes, If I work all day long and I'm working and to get money, and I have a kid, and my dumb kid asked me to spend my hard earned money on that hat, he goes, I could that alone tells me I can never have a kid. And it was just so funny because it was just out of the blue. And he was like, If I ever had to spend my own rookie money on a hat like that for a kid, I don't know what I'd do. It was so it's it's one of those I mean, those ones are too far, I agree. Half the store was good and cute, and the other half of the store was just those items that you know is contributing to spamming waste. Yeah, it's just like it's gonna go in a landfill and stay there for a I do think like yeah, the Six Flux March itself was good. If you want Six Flags March, like that was fun. There was a good store that sold swimsuits, considered buying one to go into the water park. But in general, yeah, the theming And just like the they're just not gonna have a good as good of merch. I mean, I remember going to Storyland and I would always buy like a stuffed animal, but it was just like a random like toy store basically. I wonder if ⁓ Storyland holds up. Maybe we need to do a little visit, guys, and kind of get an idea. Okay. We can move on to the next topic in one in one sec. I and this will probably bring us into it. It's not about merch. ⁓ This ⁓ are you done saying ⁓ Perfect. The the thing about six flags is that it doesn't It doesn't have anything to I I I said unify, but I was talking about like branding back then. There's no theme. Like they're not leaning into Storytime at all. There was no like mother goose plush toy. There was no like ghost figurine. Like Yeah, good point. And so when they have these rides, even there were roller coasters that were sort of near Ghost Town, sort of near Storytime, that didn't have like weren't na even named anything adjacent to, I guess, the the ⁓ Big Center Mound Railroad one was sort of trying to be themed. But there's nothing to actually, it's like, what's the theme of this park? At least Six Flags in New England has the Marvel or the DC superheroes where like almost everything ties into that. This is just, it's just all random stuff. And the merch and the food can't be tied into that. So, you know, I think they're not helping themselves by not having some sort of one core central theme to the park. What happened to that Six Flags old man that our seventh and eighth grade? My seventh grade Spanish teacher, Senior Hook was obsessed with you have Senior Hook Mouse, I'll say his name because I don't think he's really around anymore. I have no idea. No, I never had Senior Hook because I took French and Chinese. But ⁓ I had seen French or Spanish in seventh grade. And there was he had a cardboard cutout of the old man from Six Flags. He was like obsessed with Six Flags, actually. Now I'm realizing Old Man. In the commercial old man. Like Monopoly Man? We danced dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun Yeah, I don't remember that as much. All I remember he was commercial. ⁓ yeah. What did happen to him? Hmm. Mr. Six was his name. What happened to Senior Hook? Because I'm looking him up and I'm I can't find anything about it. I'm wondering if that was not his name. I'll never Senior Hook, and I'm sure he's still an educator, just probably not easily findable on. He must changed his last name. Okay, the last two. What'd you search? Senor Hook? Yep. Revisit Do know his first name? No, how what? How I don't even know if it that's his last name. Revisitability. We were gonna say rewriteability. Revisitability. This kind of ties with the last two bullets. I'll sort of tie them together. Value. This was forty dollars per person. Disney is like $180 per person. That's a great value. That's a great value. And so for $40, I do think and we didn't wait in almost any line. The lines were very short. I think the revisitability is good periodically because the lines were short and it was cheap. Like yes and no. Sorry, I think that if I was if I had a reason to be near Six Flags, forty dollars to go ⁓ for one day of my vacation or just like on a weekend if I'm local, yes. But I think it's a tough sell for anyone outside a two hour radius maximum. Like for them to come to Six Flags, maybe the new owner should tie it into like the area a little more, like it's right at the base of the Adirondack Mountains. It could like more associated with like Camping or New York or the outdoors or something, but it just feels like a little random. So I think its location hurts itself. But for locals or people who happen to be in the area, yeah, I think it's a fun thing to do with an afternoon. Okay. Yeah. Like personally I can't imagine having a season pass. And I know plenty of people do, and they were really advertising them. So it it's hard to say. Like this is an area you vacation. Like, I mean, you guys growing up, you guys would camp in this area. Like, let's pretend you're a family that camps in the area and every year you pop in, ⁓ and do a day in six flags. So forty dollars, absolutely I think well, again, tying into value, I think the value was there and we you know, we kind of ripped it apart a little bit, but overall we had a good time because we only spent forty dollars a person. We didn't wait in long lines. We were just we were just there for a good time. Like It was definitely I didn't feel like I was being ripped off by any means. Yeah. ⁓ it was fun. It was a great day. I think everything we've kind of talked about, like food and entertainment, if they can like find a way like Disney, how Disney does Epcot, you know, festivals and just constantly is changing things, that's what keeps bringing people back like repeat customers. And then they need to find a way to keep things fresh so that they can sell like season passes. And have people come multiple times a season. I can't personally imagine going more than once in a season ⁓ right now. I think ⁓ the festival thing is a good point because I think at least the two theme parks that are amusement parks that were near where we grew up, Six Flags New England and this other theme park being called Lake Compounds, those had really good Halloween. And this one does too. What'd you say? This one has a Freight fest thing too. But I wonder how good it is. ⁓ I'm and I mean if it's anything like the other ones in it, it probably is good, but that that would be a reason that I would go again. Again, I'm curious to sort of see what they do. You should go you guys should go check it out. Yeah. Yeah. I am curious. One thing we didn't touch on too much is rides, and I won't go into a whole tangent with it, but what I'll say about rides is I've been to a six flags with way bigger and better rides. So I think I was sort of comparing it to that where I was There there were rides that were like too big or scary or like they went upside down too many times that we were like, yeah, we don't really need to do that. But it didn't feel like rides was necessarily the Six Flags' like main selling point. Like if was a roller coaster ⁓ like lover, I would probably just drive the extra distance to Six Flags New England because I feel like those ones are a lot bigger and it's not that far. But ⁓ for the rides that they do have, if I wasn't comparing it, they were pretty good. And so I would maybe if I really loved roller coasters, like maybe consider getting a seasoned pass. Because of the thrill of it. Like they did have a number of good larger rides. It just The comet or whatever, that big wooden roller coaster. That one was really good. Yeah. There are a couple other ones. The flying fish was fun. I'm a big fan of that ride. If you watch our stories, you know. If you don't, if you've ever been to Storyland, you obviously know that as well. ⁓ yeah, in general, like I would go back. I think they know they just sold it, right? They haven't been putting in the upkeep and the care quite as much. But at the end of the day, like The fact that they have all the storytown stuff, the history of the park of this specific one is cool. And just one more thing that we didn't really mention is that not everyone can afford to go to Disneyl Disneyland, Disney World, not everyone can get down there. So having like the access to having a more local amusement deep park is very nice. I think that there are things they could do here that spend, yeah, not that much money that would make it better. I also think there are things that Disney could do to make it better. But In general, yeah, the difference between an amusement park and a theme park is more clear. The reason that I think this was fun is because it was only forty dollars. If it had been like a hundred and eighty dollars, I'd be, you know, speaking a different note here. ⁓ so any closing thoughts before we get into our special segment, which I'm excited for. All right. I'm hearing crickets. I want everyone to know we did have a great time and I would recommend people go for forty bucks. It was a good it was fun. It was really fun. And also the water park looks amazing. I just have to say the water park looks very, very fun. And that I wish that we'd done that. Yeah. Maybe next time we go to that next summer. All right. Yeah. Let's get into our little game using the same sound as the main segment, of course. We're playing, we're having a little competition. Mouselit A versus Mouselit Three. Disney, fill in the blanks. I have a series of questions. We're gonna go one by one. And if someone misses it, the other person gets to steal. Okay? Is there a certain amount of time that they that we have? Like 10 seconds or so. So for an example, I would say, here we go, off to Never land. Never land. Yes, Mouse Let A would say that. And if you didn't know and you hint, then I would or you miss it, then I'll give you the name of the attraction. So again, a series of questions. We're gonna be keeping score and see who and I'm not gonna tell you the ride or attraction or thing that it's from initially. Who wants to start? Mouselit 3 or Mouse Let A? I'll start. Okay. So so it mouse led A doesn't guess it. She only has a chance to steal after you guess yes. Okay. Hold on to them hats and glasses, cause this here's the The Wildest Ride in the wilderness. You got it. All right, one point from Mels III. That is obviously from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. All right, Melsela Day, are you ready? Yeah. Please remain seated, keeping your hands, arms, feet, and legs. ⁓ like inside the vehicle or something. Yep. At all times. But I'll give it to you inside the vehicle. You got it. I'll give it to you. At all times. That's just this kind of classic safety spiel. Okay, Mouse Lit Three, are you ready? I am. This is Buzz Lightyear two. ⁓ Star Command. Yeah. You got it. Wow. I didn't think you'd get that one. I did not think I was gonna get that. These get a little bit progressively harder. Mouse Leday, ready? Mm-hmm. Paging Mr. Morrow, Mr. Tom Morrow, please contact Mr. Johnson in the control tower to confirm your flight to ⁓ Paging Mr. Morrow, Mr. Tom Marrow. Mr. Johnson in the control tower to confirm your flight to Mars. I don't know. The moon. Flight to the moon was an old attraction in Tomorrowland, and so this is kind of like a tribute. You have to get next time next time. ⁓ you're supposed to steal, but it's okay. I w I wouldn't was gonna. This isn't the people mover. I was gonna say, well I'll I'll let muscle three steal next time. All right, two to one. Okay, next up Muscle three in the lead. Welcome Blank to the Haunted Mansion. I'm your host, your ghost host. Mortals Foolish mortals Final answer That's correct Welcome foolish mortals to the haunted mansion Okay Next up Please stand clear of the doors. You can make me say it in Spanish? The next part? Let's take a journey together to discover how the land sustains us, feeds us, inspires us as we explore the living. I know what ride this is, yeah. Living with the land. As we explore the living Five syllables. Potentially four, depending on how you pronounce it. That helps ya. I want to say that's something to do with the living field. What? Meadow. No meadows, no fields. Quite the opposite, actually. Welcome to a voyage of ten seconds after I finish reading this. Welcome to a voyage of discovery and awareness of the world around us. Let's take a journey together to discover how the land sustains us, feeds us, inspires us as we explore the living five. Four three. Two one Laboratory. Wah wah wah wow, this will go down an infamy of the biggest bomb ever. I got five out of ten. Unfortunately there's a wrong crowd for this game. Including myself, because that was such a bomb. Well, if you played along and you're listening, let me know if you got any of these. I actually am shocked that this went so poorly. Alright, pit and beach of the week. My pit was this game because you guys hated it so much. ⁓ so that's definitely my biggest pit. I would say my peach was we had a fun weekend. So some fun news, fun, exciting things. That would be my peach mouse lit A, pit and peach. Pit was the game, obviously. Nope. My pit was today. ⁓ the break, my front brakes on my car just went and my drive back from New York yesterday was horrible. ⁓ and I just had to drop six hundred dollars on brakes. That's my pit. My peach was this weekend. It was just like being in New York. Hanging out with Mouse Let three and Mouse at J, Mouse at two, and as much as we kind of roasted Six Flags, I had a lot of fun at the same time. So we didn't roast it. We loved it. All right, Mouse Let three. Pit was the game. No. My my peach was my peach has is yet to come. It's about to happen. Masa two. Your turn for this game. Ready? Ready? ⁓ god. Look, mamma, look, I'm a kite. Hang on tightly, Rue. Happy from way to the poo. Okay, let's see. It's like a windy, blus a blustery, windy day. Happy Nope. Master Day. Do you know? I'll give you a. I it's Winnie the Pooh. It's a play on a day of the week. Windy day. Windy. Guys, come on. Windy day. Wind day. Rainy things. Wednesday. Wednesday. Wednesday. I never would have gotten it. I didn't even know the audio was in it. See, Maslatoo. It's tough. No, these are like the most psychotic lines from all of these things. I just want everyone to know that. Okay. Stuff gay. That was my great thing. That my peach. My peach is being on this podcast. No, I'm just kidding. My peach, honestly, probably no, my peach was this weekend was having visitors at the house, being able to spend time with Maslatoon, Masl Day, ⁓ going to Six Flags, which is very close to where I now live, but ⁓ I sort of forget that it's that close. So that's definitely my peach. My pit. ⁓ hmm. My pit was that I didn't get a lot of sleep last night because I was supposed to be doing something that was going to take a lot of time for work. And then because it was late and that night I decided to work on the house instead, which was still a pit because I didn't get a lot of sleep. But at least it wasn't the thing that I needed to do. All right. We'll wrap it up with a fact of the day. I think I might be the only fact, but if anyone else has one prepared, I'm happy to hear it, which I think the other So my f fact of the day is ⁓ When Animal Kingdom first opened, they actually didn't have any signage. They intentionally set the park up in a way where you want they wanted me you to feel like an explorer, but it was it was received pretty poorly. So instead they added signage a year or two later. My fact is actually about a balloon test, which is that there's a piece of property between the Transformation of Ticket Center and the contemporary. Undeveloped. They've slated the land for expansion. For a resort multiple times. They are not able to build on it because of civil engineering things. ⁓ the ground, I have a full YouTube deep dive if you want to watch it. But they did a balloon test to test the sight lines of like the Mediterranean resort they plan to build. And there's some really cool pictures of it. And it's kind of an iconic thing that from the monorail you can occasionally see it. Anyway, that is our episode that we have. If you like I a fact. ⁓ I have a fact. Okay. It's a Disney it's a Disney adjacent fact. The owner, the Charles Wood, is the businessman who purchased and opened Storytown, USA, in Queensbury, New York, aka the the now six legs we've been talking about. And it officially opened in nineteen fifty four and that was exactly one year before Disneyland opened and he he had all Mother Goose themed amusement parks. So he kinda was ⁓ was able to like get the name like the the founder the founder of children's ⁓ amusement parks because he he did it one year prior to Walt ⁓ so he he's kinda lucky that go Charlie. He's kinda lucky there. But King King Charlie. In fact literally Charlie Charlie. All right now that is officially what we had. Sorry that the game bombed everybody ⁓ big bummer but maybe we'll play another time with Mouse with Mouse at one Anyway, if you actually if you like this podcast, please be sure to give us a five star rating on Spotify and Apple. It really does help us get seen. If you're watching on YouTube, make sure you like this video, subscribe to our channel. We'll be back next week with Mouse Lit One.
