- 2:14Sean McAllister: Welcome to episode 152 of Vegas Revealed.
- 2:17Sean McAllister: Sean McAllister here along with Dana Roselli.
- 2:21Sean McAllister: And uh, you know, we're starting this week's podcast with uh kind of a pair of topics.
- 2:28Sean McAllister: One that's going to cause major headaches, and another, who knows, it could help alleviate them.
- 2:36Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 2:37Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 2:37Dayna Roselli: Well, we're gonna start with the negative and move to the positive, right?
- 2:40Dayna Roselli: It's always a good way.
- 2:41Dayna Roselli: They always say, Do you want the good news or the bad news?
- 2:44Sean McAllister: We leave you with the good news.
- 2:46Sean McAllister: How about that?
- 2:47Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 2:48Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 2:48Dayna Roselli: Well, the bad news is something called Dropicana, which one thing I did not do is look up where that name came from.
- 2:55Sean McAllister: Then I think the Nevada Department of Transportation actually came up with that name.
- 2:59Dayna Roselli: Okay, good.
- 3:00Sean McAllister: Because they're dropping the Tropicana overpass over the I-15.
- 3:05Sean McAllister: Right.
- 3:05Sean McAllister: Although I have seen people say that's an awful name.
- 3:09Sean McAllister: I know.
- 3:09Sean McAllister: And there's people proposing other ones like Tropageddon.
- 3:12Dayna Roselli: Oh, but you know what?
- 3:13Dayna Roselli: Dropicana, I mean, we're all like, it's catchy.
- 3:17Dayna Roselli: It is catchy.
- 3:18Dayna Roselli: It's memorable, and I guess that's all that matters.
- 3:20Sean McAllister: So started a conversation.
- 3:21Dayna Roselli: And that's uh smarter than we are, Nevada Department of Transportation, right?
- 3:25Dayna Roselli: Um, well, anyway, this is gonna impact, gosh, the I-15 at Tropicana for like a total of 18 months, which is a long time.
- 3:33Dayna Roselli: But there are some parts of this closure that are gonna be worse than others, right?
- 3:36Sean McAllister: There are, and that's coming up pretty quick.
- 3:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it is.
- 3:38Dayna Roselli: So I-15 at Tropicana.
- 3:40Dayna Roselli: So for folks that don't live in Las Vegas and you're like, wait, where's that?
- 3:44Dayna Roselli: That Tropicana is the road that goes right along uh New York, New York.
- 3:48Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and then to the south is the Excalibur.
- 3:51Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 3:51Dayna Roselli: And Luxor and Mandalay Bay to the south and all that.
- 3:54Dayna Roselli: But anyway, it's a very popular road, and um, this is the off-ramp to get there that's going to be shut down and the flyover that bumps you off the highway and then takes you east toward the Las Vegas Strip.
- 4:07Sean McAllister: And Tropicana is one of the very first exits that you get to on the I-15 when you're really entering the heart of the resort corridor.
- 4:16Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 4:17Sean McAllister: So once you start seeing, once you're there with all the casinos to your right, um Tropicana is one of the first exits that you get to, and that's not gonna be an option.
- 4:28Sean McAllister: That exit is being taken away for the next year and a half while they do this massive reconstruction of the roadway.
- 4:36Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and it's interesting because that little section always backs up regardless.
- 4:40Dayna Roselli: So it does.
- 4:41Dayna Roselli: It's it's it's the worst, especially coming north.
- 4:44Dayna Roselli: So you can imagine what this is gonna be like.
- 4:46Dayna Roselli: But um, the big FYI is coming up, and it's the 27th through the 30th of January.
- 4:52Dayna Roselli: They're literally shutting down the I-15 from Russell, that's the exit before Tropicana to the south, all the way to Flamingo, the exit north of Tropicana.
- 5:02Dayna Roselli: So that's gonna be a major closure on a weekend in Las Vegas.
- 5:08Dayna Roselli: So just prepare for that.
- 5:10Dayna Roselli: And you and I were trying to think, you know, what would be the best?
- 5:13Dayna Roselli: I mean, if you're coming in from California, get off at Silverado and just take Las Vegas Boulevard north all the way.
- 5:21Dayna Roselli: It's not a bad drive.
- 5:22Dayna Roselli: It doesn't have tons of traffic.
- 5:25Dayna Roselli: It's the lights.
- 5:26Dayna Roselli: There's gonna be a few lights, but you're gonna have to stop instead of you know free-flowing.
- 5:30Sean McAllister: And it'll take you right past the Welcome to Las Vegas sign, exactly.
- 5:33Sean McAllister: Which people don't really get to see when you're, you know, coming in on the highway.
- 5:38Sean McAllister: So don't plan on getting on or off of the 15 at Tropicana until 2025.
- 5:45Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 5:47Dayna Roselli: Well, listen, um, alleviating a headache, you know, maybe a little cannabis is for you.
- 5:52Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 5:53Dayna Roselli: You know, it's all legal now in in Nevada.
- 5:56Dayna Roselli: So we've been talking about how they've been trying to open and like there's all this stuff.
- 6:01Dayna Roselli: I'm not even gonna get into it.
- 6:02Dayna Roselli: Pot lounges, a places where people can actually smoke pot um without having to do it outside in your own vehicle, because we all smell it and it's caused a whole thing.
- 6:16Dayna Roselli: But now the first ever cannabis-friendly hotel is going to open and it's actually going to be called the Lexi.
- 6:25Dayna Roselli: But it was once the famed Artisan Hotel boutique, which is a very popular place here in Las Vegas through the years, but it had its moments, right?
- 6:35Dayna Roselli: It was like people would go and then you'd kind of stop going, and then you'd go, but you always knew it was there.
- 6:43Dayna Roselli: Because they have a great little lounge and kind of nightcluby area there that that people enjoy going.
- 6:48Dayna Roselli: I don't know how to explain it.
- 6:50Dayna Roselli: What would you call the inside?
- 6:51Dayna Roselli: Um, it's like an old, I want to say an old library.
- 6:56Sean McAllister: I mean, it kind of like is very reminiscent of like the old school Hollywood Yes, like old 1920s, 1930s boutique Hollywood hotels.
- 7:10Sean McAllister: Um, and the lounge, like you were saying, that's right off of the hotel lobby.
- 7:17Sean McAllister: I used to go there all the time.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:20Sean McAllister: We'd go there just, you know, where we'd go and hang out for the night, but then there would always be after hours parties there.
- 7:26Sean McAllister: Always.
- 7:27Sean McAllister: There'd be DJs, music playing.
- 7:29Sean McAllister: There's a a great pool area.
- 7:32Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you did kind of feel like you were in someone's like nice house.
- 7:34Dayna Roselli: It did old old old nice house.
- 7:38Dayna Roselli: Old historic.
- 7:39Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 7:40Dayna Roselli: But like had cool little things when you turned every corner.
- 7:43Sean McAllister: And weren't there like a bunch of framed pictures on the ceiling?
- 7:47Sean McAllister: I think too.
- 7:49Dayna Roselli: Possibly.
- 7:49Sean McAllister: Like with the gold, chunky gold frames and yeah, just a very eclectic vibe, but a really fun place.
- 7:58Sean McAllister: And I know a lot of people in Las Vegas have a lot of memories at the Artisan, but you know, that will now live on, and you can make new memories at the Lexi.
- 8:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so it's evolving into the Lexi, which is an Elevations, hotels, and Resorts, if you're familiar with that.
- 8:15Dayna Roselli: Okay, it's gonna be a 64-room hotel concept, which includes an entire fourth floor that will be designated cannabis friendly.
- 8:25Dayna Roselli: Each room is gonna feature a state-of-the-art restore air filtration system that employs advanced oxidation cell technology.
- 8:35Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 8:35Dayna Roselli: And it's a mouthful, but yeah, so isn't that interesting?
- 8:38Dayna Roselli: They're gonna dedicate a whole floor to rooms that you can smoke pot in.
- 8:43Dayna Roselli: And um, they're gonna have this whole advanced technology that will help the air quality and bring in oxidation.
- 8:48Dayna Roselli: Because I did have someone actually ask me about that on Facebook.
- 8:52Dayna Roselli: Like, well, how are they gonna get the air, you know, make sure there's good oxygen?
- 8:56Dayna Roselli: And uh, I was like, well, first of all, if you're gonna stay on that floor, you probably know it's gonna smell like cannabis.
- 9:02Sean McAllister: Or if you're staying there, period.
- 9:04Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 9:05Dayna Roselli: So, um, but if not, um but anyway, but for the health reasons and everything like that, I guess this oxidation cell technology is gonna help with that.
- 9:15Sean McAllister: And and this whole concept is part of a bigger idea of cannabis tourism.
- 9:21Sean McAllister: And Las Vegas, I think, especially with the dispensaries that are in such close proximity to the Las Vegas Strip and really anywhere else that you go around the Las Vegas Valley, but this is the first hotel that is really embracing that idea in Las Vegas of cannabis tourism.
- 9:41Sean McAllister: So I have a feeling this is going to be a very popular spot.
- 9:45Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and someone did comment on Twitter and said, Oh, it's because they don't have, you know, like a gaming license.
- 9:50Dayna Roselli: There's no gaming there.
- 9:52Dayna Roselli: So they don't have to go through like a major level and a hassle like the other hotel casinos do.
- 9:59Dayna Roselli: And I don't, I don't know if that's true.
- 10:01Dayna Roselli: Sounded correct.
- 10:02Dayna Roselli: Sounds good.
- 10:03Dayna Roselli: Sounded good, sounded correct, but yeah.
- 10:05Dayna Roselli: So um, anyway, so yeah, the so it's gonna be cool.
- 10:07Dayna Roselli: They're gonna have a whole floor, they're gonna do like a whole European pool concept, and then listen to this they're opening a Cajun-inspired steakhouse, which I've never heard of.
- 10:16Sean McAllister: Me either.
- 10:17Dayna Roselli: Cajun-inspired.
- 10:18Dayna Roselli: That piqued my interest because I love steak and I love a little Cajun spice.
- 10:23Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 10:24Dayna Roselli: Um, now this is gonna be helmed by the executive chef Jordan Savell.
- 10:29Dayna Roselli: And hopefully I'm saying his name right, but he actually was on Hell's Kitchen season 19.
- 10:35Dayna Roselli: So that's exciting.
- 10:36Sean McAllister: That is exciting.
- 10:36Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and then they're gonna have the Artisan Bar and Lounge.
- 10:39Dayna Roselli: So they're keeping the former name of the hotel and making it the lounge name, the Lexi Pool, which is gonna be one of Las Vegas' only European-style pool experiences, and then a reimagined chapel room as well.
- 10:52Dayna Roselli: So big plans here at the Artisan.
- 10:55Sean McAllister: Well, there we go.
- 10:56Sean McAllister: And uh this is, you know, instead of tearing down the old building and building something brand new, they're kind of keeping the history alive with this rebrand and bringing new ideas to the property.
- 11:12Sean McAllister: So I'm excited to see what happens when uh the Lexi opens up.
- 11:16Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and FYI, if you're wondering where it is, it's West Sahara, right near the I-15.
- 11:21Dayna Roselli: You kind of pass it in that area.
- 11:24Dayna Roselli: So uh to the south of the stratosphere, to the north of Resorts World, about a couple blocks over from the Las Vegas Strip.
- 11:31Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 11:32Sean McAllister: And you know, speaking of uh keeping history alive, there is another classic Las Vegas property in downtown Las Vegas that is celebrating really a monumental milestone when you think of Las Vegas and how, like I said, our as things get old, they get bulldozed to the ground, something new gets built.
- 11:54Sean McAllister: Uh, the Golden Gate Hotel and Casino is celebrating 117 years of operation.
- 12:04Sean McAllister: So can we just pause and give lots of applause and cheers to the Golden Gate?
- 12:14Dayna Roselli: It's exciting.
- 12:15Dayna Roselli: 117 years.
- 12:17Dayna Roselli: Jeez.
- 12:18Dayna Roselli: It opened in 1906.
- 12:21Dayna Roselli: It's the first hotel in Las Vegas, which I knew, but I forgot until I read the little blurb.
- 12:26Dayna Roselli: I'm like, oh yeah, it is the first hotel in Las Vegas.
- 12:28Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 12:29Dayna Roselli: And it's a cool spot now, too.
- 12:31Sean McAllister: It is.
- 12:32Sean McAllister: There's a lot happening down there.
- 12:33Dayna Roselli: There really is.
- 12:34Dayna Roselli: Um, so congratulations, you know, obviously playing a huge role in the evolution of the city's hospitality and gaming industry.
- 12:43Dayna Roselli: So, you know, if the Golden Gate Hotel and Casino didn't start at all, we may not be here today.
- 12:49Sean McAllister: Who knows where we would be?
- 12:50Dayna Roselli: We'd still be riding horses and non-gaming and watching tumbleweed roll through the desert.
- 12:58Sean McAllister: And and it would be the divorce cat where people come to get divorced.
- 13:01Sean McAllister: Right.
- 13:02Sean McAllister: With no strings attached.
- 13:04Sean McAllister: Uh, congratulations, Golden Gate.
- 13:07Sean McAllister: And next time you are uh uh in Las Vegas, make a trip downtown, stop into the Golden Gate, and um tell them that we said to stop and congratulate them.
- 13:18Dayna Roselli: Dana Sean sent you.
- 13:20Dayna Roselli: Hey, listen, I know a lot of people love WWE.
- 13:24Dayna Roselli: Sure do.
- 13:25Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 13:25Dayna Roselli: I saw this release come across and I said, we gotta let everyone know because I know it's such a big deal, but we're getting the WWE Friday Night SmackDown at Grand Garden Arena at MGM.
- 13:36Dayna Roselli: And tickets are on sale right now, so FYI, but it's always a huge event.
- 13:40Dayna Roselli: It's March 24th here in Las Vegas.
- 13:43Dayna Roselli: So if you want to attend FYI again, the tickets are on sale now.
- 13:48Dayna Roselli: You got to secure your spot.
- 13:49Dayna Roselli: I think it said it starts at like four o'clock or something.
- 13:53Dayna Roselli: I was like, wow, they get a whole night of it.
- 13:56Sean McAllister: Yeah, well, they have to do it because it's live, I believe, for the East Coast.
- 14:00Sean McAllister: Right.
- 14:01Sean McAllister: So, you know, that is the the price we pay out here in the West when there's a big live event happening.
- 14:09Sean McAllister: It has to be, you know, in the afternoon so that our friends on the East Coast can watch it before it's bedtime.
- 14:16Dayna Roselli: I know, gosh.
- 14:17Dayna Roselli: You're right.
- 14:18Dayna Roselli: And it's so funny how many people love it.
- 14:20Dayna Roselli: They go all over the country for this.
- 14:22Dayna Roselli: Like, well, all the WWE, because there's more than just the SmackDown, there's a whole programming thing, right?
- 14:28Dayna Roselli: And we're getting the other thing at uh Allegiant Stadium.
- 14:30Sean McAllister: Money in the bank.
- 14:32Dayna Roselli: Money in the bank, that's right, and that's a big one too.
- 14:34Sean McAllister: And I mean, it really is astounding how large the fan base for WWE is.
- 14:43Sean McAllister: I think every WWE event in Las Vegas that we have had has completely sold out.
- 14:48Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 14:49Dayna Roselli: It's huge.
- 14:51Dayna Roselli: And you know, I mean, I kept up as much as I could, but like I think I stopped following in was there an Andre the Giant?
- 15:00Sean McAllister: There was Andre the Giant.
- 15:01Dayna Roselli: I mean I knew that sounded and Hulk Hogan.
- 15:04Sean McAllister: Yes, that was my era too.
- 15:05Sean McAllister: And Rowdy Roddy Piper and You're right, uh Hacksaw Jim Duggan and uh Jake the Snake Roberts.
- 15:13Dayna Roselli: Okay, now it's gone over these guys?
- 15:15Dayna Roselli: No, but I remember the first guy and the second.
- 15:19Sean McAllister: That's when I stopped following, and that's been decades.
- 15:23Dayna Roselli: So too funny.
- 15:26Sean McAllister: But it's good to have uh WWE continually making stops here in Las Vegas for uh the huge fan base here.
- 15:36Dayna Roselli: And you already have your ticket for Pink over at Allegiant Stadium on October 7th.
- 15:40Sean McAllister: Sure do.
- 15:41Dayna Roselli: And now, this week we learn Madonna is stopping in Las Vegas on her global tour that she announced.
- 15:49Dayna Roselli: It's 35 cities, and she's coming to T Mobile Arena on October 7th.
- 15:54Sean McAllister: Ask me if Madonna at T Mobile Arena is going to change my plans for that night.
- 16:00Sean McAllister: The answer is no.
- 16:01Sean McAllister: Are you not a material girl?
- 16:04Sean McAllister: I am firmly planted in my plans to see Pink.
- 16:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's gonna be a great show.
- 16:10Dayna Roselli: That's interesting.
- 16:11Dayna Roselli: Now, Pink's at Allegiant Stadium.
- 16:15Dayna Roselli: She is Madonna at T-Mobile.
- 16:18Dayna Roselli: Allegiant Stadium is bigger than T-Mobile, right?
- 16:21Sean McAllister: So Allegiant Stadium uh I believe has a capacity around 60,000 fans.
- 16:29Sean McAllister: The way that Pink's tour is set up, right?
- 16:32Sean McAllister: Um, it'll be at one end of the arena.
- 16:34Sean McAllister: So capacity will probably be, I saw around 38,000.
- 16:39Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 16:39Sean McAllister: Uh T-Mobile Arena, I know for hockey games, it's around 18,000.
- 16:45Dayna Roselli: Right, yeah.
- 16:46Sean McAllister: Um, so if Madonna is doing the same thing, kind of having her stage set up at one end, um, I'm guessing it's probably around 10,000, 12,000.
- 16:57Sean McAllister: Oh.
- 16:59Dayna Roselli: Battle of the Divas.
- 17:00Sean McAllister: I know 15,000, maybe max.
- 17:03Sean McAllister: I don't know, but there has been a lot of discussion about this Madonna concert since it was announced that she was doing this greatest hits tour.
- 17:13Sean McAllister: Um she's kind of burned some fans in the past by not starting her shows on time.
- 17:20Sean McAllister: And not just a little bit late.
- 17:23Dayna Roselli: No, and she's really not just even like I would say these fans were more angry than like when when Adele canceled her shows at the Coliseum.
- 17:33Dayna Roselli: Like they were like very like, we tried to bend, we get it.
- 17:40Dayna Roselli: Madonna, you do it your way, you do it different, you're showing up late, it's a part of your shtick.
- 17:47Dayna Roselli: But one person I think is even suing because she was, I want to say four hours late.
- 17:54Dayna Roselli: I can't remember the show if it was Miami, but anyway, she played here at the Coliseum at Caesars Palace, and I remember specifically people tweeting after she was late, not an hour.
- 18:07Dayna Roselli: I think it was around like two hours at that point.
- 18:10Sean McAllister: Two or three.
- 18:11Dayna Roselli: I think so, saying, I gotta go.
- 18:13Dayna Roselli: I got a babysitter tonight.
- 18:14Dayna Roselli: I spent a lot of money on the tickets, I spent a lot of money on the babysitter.
- 18:18Dayna Roselli: I told them I would be, but now if it hasn't even started, I'm gonna be out for another two hours as the show goes on.
- 18:26Dayna Roselli: So people were really, really frustrated and kind of had said, like, it's my last go at it.
- 18:32Dayna Roselli: So I will be curious to see if she does well in sales.
- 18:37Sean McAllister: Well, and I already saw a bunch of uh people on social media saying that um and and these are Las Vegas residents.
- 18:46Sean McAllister: Um, so that doesn't account for fans or anything, and it doesn't even account for all Las Vegas residents, but I saw people saying, you know what?
- 18:54Sean McAllister: Pink puts on one hell of a show, she's on time, she sings, she flies around the the stadium.
- 19:02Sean McAllister: I already got my tickets to see her.
- 19:04Sean McAllister: That's how it's gonna be.
- 19:06Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 19:07Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 19:07Sean McAllister: I don't I wonder how many people are going into it with that same mentality and being like, you know what?
- 19:13Sean McAllister: If you're not gonna start on time, yeah, I wonder.
- 19:16Dayna Roselli: I it's it'll be interesting.
- 19:17Dayna Roselli: I mean, listen, my Madonna's got some great music out there.
- 19:20Dayna Roselli: She is iconic.
- 19:22Dayna Roselli: There's uh I did also see a bunch of comments of people saying she's gotten really weird on like her TikTok and stuff, and I don't know.
- 19:27Dayna Roselli: It just I I don't have it in me to go.
- 19:29Dayna Roselli: I'm good.
- 19:30Dayna Roselli: I mean, she puts on one heck of a show.
- 19:33Dayna Roselli: She is iconic.
- 19:35Dayna Roselli: If you love Madonna and you never got your chance, you know, go to the show.
- 19:38Dayna Roselli: It could be it could be great.
- 19:40Dayna Roselli: I I hope she changes her ways and she's not late.
- 19:44Dayna Roselli: It's rude.
- 19:45Dayna Roselli: Being late a little late is fine if it's part of your shtick.
- 19:48Sean McAllister: Well, look, Mariah Carey, I've been to her shows when she starts 45 minutes late.
- 19:54Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 19:54Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 19:54Sean McAllister: But three hours.
- 19:56Sean McAllister: Three hours ridiculous.
- 19:58Dayna Roselli: It's yeah, it's a real slap in the face.
- 20:00Sean McAllister: So that's like a whole nother activity that you could have fit in before going to the concert.
- 20:05Dayna Roselli: I know, I know.
- 20:06Sean McAllister: You could have gotten your grocery shopping done.
- 20:09Sean McAllister: You could have stopped at the dry cleaner to pick up your stuff.
- 20:12Sean McAllister: I mean, right.
- 20:14Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 20:14Sean McAllister: You know, be respectful of your fans, Madonna.
- 20:18Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 20:18Dayna Roselli: And listen, she has some die hard fans, and I know they are thrilled she's coming to Las Vegas.
- 20:23Dayna Roselli: So, Madonna, a T-Mobile Arena, Saturday, October 7th.
- 20:27Dayna Roselli: I think tickets are on sale already, so go get them.
- 20:30Sean McAllister: Dan, one last thought on her.
- 20:31Sean McAllister: I know that the set list is uh going to be great because it is her best hit over the past four decades.
- 20:40Sean McAllister: 40 years of great music, um, you know, from the best hits of the 80s right on through the 2000s.
- 20:50Sean McAllister: So it's great music, it'll be a great show.
- 20:55Sean McAllister: Um, period.
- 20:57Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 20:59Sean McAllister: That's all I have to say about that.
- 21:00Dayna Roselli: We'll be tuned into Twitter that night to see who says Madonna entered the building and at what time.
- 21:06Sean McAllister: Maybe I could get some last-minute tickets after the pink concert to go and see Madonna.
- 21:11Dayna Roselli: You could.
- 21:12Dayna Roselli: Post show.
- 21:13Dayna Roselli: And that's the thing.
- 21:14Dayna Roselli: It's like, you wonder though, if Madonna, okay, I'm just gonna last thought.
- 21:18Dayna Roselli: If we all complain about Madonna being late, I almost feel like she feeds off that.
- 21:21Dayna Roselli: And she might be late just because she's like, well, I'm not gonna cave.
- 21:25Dayna Roselli: True.
- 21:25Dayna Roselli: Everyone's not gonna tell me to show up on time.
- 21:28Dayna Roselli: I'm still gonna be late.
- 21:30Dayna Roselli: And you'll just have to deal with it.
- 21:34Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 21:34Dayna Roselli: Well, we mentioned we went to David Blaine's show over at Resorts World.
- 21:37Dayna Roselli: He came back.
- 21:38Dayna Roselli: Only thing I wanted to mention there is I noticed a lot of people really raving about the show uh this time.
- 21:43Dayna Roselli: They did last time too, but I feel like even more and more.
- 21:46Dayna Roselli: And I don't know if he made some tweaks, but people were saying they were loving it.
- 21:49Dayna Roselli: I saw Danny DeVito went to the show, and I saw a picture of him and Chris Angel.
- 21:54Dayna Roselli: So, Chris Angel, another illusionist magician.
- 21:57Dayna Roselli: And people always wonder do Chris Angel?
- 22:00Dayna Roselli: Angel and David Blaine get along.
- 22:03Dayna Roselli: And we were like, I mean, I don't see why not.
- 22:06Dayna Roselli: They're completely different kinds of you know, their shows are completely different.
- 22:10Dayna Roselli: Anyway, Chris went to David's show, took a picture together.
- 22:13Dayna Roselli: So I love to see that camaraderie supporting another illusionist.
- 22:17Sean McAllister: Uh, just on the magic note, um, I did just see a post from Matt Franco, who has a show over at uh the Link Resort.
- 22:26Sean McAllister: Uh, he is on hiatus for a month because he and his wife just welcomed a new baby.
- 22:32Dayna Roselli: Oh, congratulations.
- 22:33Sean McAllister: Taking some paternity leave.
- 22:35Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 22:36Sean McAllister: So for I believe the the month of January-ish, maybe into February.
- 22:41Sean McAllister: No Matt Franco shows, but he will be back.
- 22:44Dayna Roselli: Good.
- 22:44Sean McAllister: As um, you know, after he spends time with his new child.
- 22:49Sean McAllister: Congratulations.
- 22:51Dayna Roselli: Um, speaking of that, our new bestie, Dane Cook, is coming to the Cosmopolitan on April 1st.
- 22:58Sean McAllister: Now, why do you say he's our new bestie, Dana?
- 23:00Dayna Roselli: Because I posted an Insta story from our Vegas Revealed account and you know, said he was coming, which was great.
- 23:07Dayna Roselli: He reposted, you know, was excited about it, whatever.
- 23:10Dayna Roselli: And then I reposted because I didn't mention the tickets go on sale like January 20th, 10 a.m.
- 23:17Dayna Roselli: or whatever.
- 23:17Dayna Roselli: And then he reposted and said, I know, I know, I know with this funny graphic.
- 23:22Dayna Roselli: Like he was excited, the tickets were going on sale.
- 23:24Dayna Roselli: And then, like, we kept going back and forth.
- 23:25Dayna Roselli: So at one point I was like, Hey, are we besties now?
- 23:28Dayna Roselli: And then he responded, I hope so.
- 23:31Dayna Roselli: So it was just kind of a funny thing.
- 23:33Dayna Roselli: Um, but Dane Cook, I think is hilarious.
- 23:36Dayna Roselli: I think he's hilarious.
- 23:37Dayna Roselli: Um, I haven't seen him do stand-up or even seen a special of his in a while.
- 23:41Sean McAllister: No.
- 23:41Dayna Roselli: So I look forward to him doing live shows again.
- 23:45Dayna Roselli: Um, there were some tweets that we got that were not so favorable, but I don't know.
- 23:50Dayna Roselli: Maybe he's one of those love-hate comedians, but could be.
- 23:53Dayna Roselli: Could be.
- 23:54Sean McAllister: But over at uh Cosmopolitan.
- 23:56Dayna Roselli: Yes, Cosmopolitan.
- 23:57Dayna Roselli: Get your tickets.
- 23:57Dayna Roselli: He'll be over at the Chelsea inside the cosmopolitan on April 1st, April Fool's Day.
- 24:02Dayna Roselli: That'll be a good show.
- 24:03Sean McAllister: Yeah, it will be a good show.
- 24:05Sean McAllister: Um, something we mentioned, I believe last week that we were starting uh uh regular segments on KCal News in Southern California.
- 24:15Sean McAllister: Every other Thursday, Dana and I um are going to be on in the mornings to talk about the big topics that are happening here in Las Vegas.
- 24:25Sean McAllister: And we want to say uh first of all, a big thank you to everyone over at KCal News for welcoming us.
- 24:31Sean McAllister: Um, but also for uh people who tuned in and watched this segment and had some really nice things to say.
- 24:38Dayna Roselli: I know we were so proud of the way everything went and the response that we got.
- 24:42Dayna Roselli: Uh, it was wonderful.
- 24:44Dayna Roselli: We had a few topics that day, which included the MSG sphere, the fountain blue, and Randy's donuts opening up at Resorts World.
- 24:52Dayna Roselli: We kind of ended on that because we know it's like a famed LA location.
- 24:56Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 24:56Dayna Roselli: So that was a lot of fun.
- 24:57Dayna Roselli: And um, you know, with the MSG sphere, we did a little research there, made some calls and got some information that kind of hadn't been out there yet.
- 25:05Dayna Roselli: So I think people really appreciated the new details.
- 25:08Dayna Roselli: And we were proud to reveal some of it.
- 25:11Dayna Roselli: Um, we talked a lot about the MSG sphere, I think the podcast before, but I'm trying to think a couple of the new things we learned since then and that we put in the KCal report.
- 25:21Dayna Roselli: Um, one of them being that they plan to use the MSG sphere 365 days a year.
- 25:26Dayna Roselli: So it's not just gonna be, yeah, it's not gonna be like a headliner's coming in and there's a show.
- 25:31Dayna Roselli: I mean, they plan to really utilize it.
- 25:33Dayna Roselli: Um, they also plan to make it an attraction.
- 25:37Dayna Roselli: People will come to Las Vegas just to go to the MSG sphere.
- 25:42Dayna Roselli: Yes, there's hotels, there's casinos, there's attractions, but they feel like this one, and you know, it's gonna have full 4D effects.
- 25:50Dayna Roselli: We know also they're partnering with Formula One, which means that it is going to be open by November of 2023.
- 25:58Dayna Roselli: Has to be open by then.
- 25:59Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 26:00Dayna Roselli: We know U2 is in the running, um, and there has been a lot of talk about U2 opening at the sphere.
- 26:08Dayna Roselli: And apparently, a couple, or if not a few, big acts are going to be announced within the next like two weeks.
- 26:17Dayna Roselli: So we're gonna learn more and more.
- 26:18Dayna Roselli: They've really started to pump out information for 2023.
- 26:22Sean McAllister: I heard rumors that a famous piano man might be in the running to have a show here at the sphere.
- 26:29Sean McAllister: So I'm interested to see if uh those rumors Elton or Billy Joel?
- 26:34Sean McAllister: Billy Joel.
- 26:35Dayna Roselli: Okay, I was gonna say, because we said Elton wasn't gonna come back.
- 26:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so funny.
- 26:38Dayna Roselli: I was just listening the other days.
- 26:40Dayna Roselli: I was driving to a Billy Joel song, and I thought, you know what?
- 26:43Dayna Roselli: I love all of his music, and I've never seen him live.
- 26:46Dayna Roselli: I've never seen him live.
- 26:48Sean McAllister: I mean, I used to uh I like played his records uh growing up, and it he is he's great.
- 26:55Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he is great.
- 26:56Dayna Roselli: I love a oh he'd be great.
- 26:57Dayna Roselli: Uh it's gonna be unlike anything.
- 26:59Dayna Roselli: It fits 20,000 people.
- 27:01Dayna Roselli: Uh, they have a whole studio in Burbank, California where they're like testing out concepts, and I mean it's gonna be unreal.
- 27:07Dayna Roselli: The whole outside.
- 27:08Dayna Roselli: When I was on the morning blend this week with JJ Snyder, we were talking about like, I wonder how bright it's gonna be at night.
- 27:14Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, yeah, is there like a sphere curfew?
- 27:17Dayna Roselli: Like it has to dim by like, and I'm like, I don't think so because it's the Las Vegas strip.
- 27:22Sean McAllister: Well, I have a feeling if they have a curfew, the Luxor's light will have to be under the same rules.
- 27:28Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 27:28Sean McAllister: Um, and when we went over there and and got some video of the sphere, they were testing some of those exterior LED panels down on the ground.
- 27:39Sean McAllister: And as of like now, they're now testing the panels that have already been installed around the top of the giant sphere.
- 27:49Sean McAllister: So we're seeing it start to illuminate and come to life.
- 27:53Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 27:53Dayna Roselli: And if you don't know where it is and what we're talking about, it's behind the Venetian.
- 27:57Dayna Roselli: Um, you can't miss it.
- 27:59Dayna Roselli: And if you want to see our segment, we posted it on our Instagram, also on our Twitter, or you can just Google KCal News, Vegas Revealed, and you'll see the segment.
- 28:07Dayna Roselli: And that will bring you to some video of the sphere under construction and also what it's going to look like when it's done.
- 28:13Dayna Roselli: Pretty cool.
- 28:14Sean McAllister: Uh, this is also the time of year when we start seeing uh some really spectacular Chinese New Year displays and celebrations all over Las Vegas.
- 28:28Sean McAllister: Um, it is the year of the rabbit, and we know that uh the Venetian has a massive rabbit that was just installed over there.
- 28:39Sean McAllister: Right.
- 28:39Dayna Roselli: Oh, and I was just looking it up because I thought, oh, let me find fun facts.
- 28:43Dayna Roselli: And guess what?
- 28:44Dayna Roselli: What?
- 28:45Dayna Roselli: Rabbits were born in 2011, 1999, 1987, 1975, which means I'm the year of the rabbit.
- 28:53Dayna Roselli: I'm 47.
- 28:54Sean McAllister: Well, happy Chinese New Year to you.
- 28:56Sean McAllister: Happy rabbit year.
- 28:57Dayna Roselli: This is exciting.
- 28:58Dayna Roselli: I didn't even know.
- 28:58Dayna Roselli: It's my year.
- 29:00Dayna Roselli: I'm glad I'm a rabbit.
- 29:01Sean McAllister: I think I'm a like a pig or something.
- 29:04Sean McAllister: Oh, are you?
- 29:04Sean McAllister: See?
- 29:05Sean McAllister: Or a hog.
- 29:06Dayna Roselli: Oh, see, I'm glad I'm a rabbit.
- 29:09Dayna Roselli: But I was looking up like the meaning behind it.
- 29:11Dayna Roselli: Um, we'll talk about it more in the future when we do a little Google dive.
- 29:15Dayna Roselli: But like you mentioned, uh, we've got a lot of events happening, and we do it right here in Las Vegas.
- 29:20Dayna Roselli: We always celebrate the Chinese New Year.
- 29:22Dayna Roselli: You can find beautiful, beautiful ceremonies happening at all the different hotel casinos.
- 29:28Dayna Roselli: I know January 23rd, the Venetians doing something at three o'clock.
- 29:32Dayna Roselli: Uh, Aria's got plans, Bellagio, MGM Grand, the Cosmopolitan, Caesars, everywhere.
- 29:37Dayna Roselli: They do the lion dance.
- 29:39Dayna Roselli: And like you were saying, they have some huge displays planned this year.
- 29:42Dayna Roselli: And I know we were just getting a glimpse of the one at the palazzo, and they have like a huge rabbit right in the atrium with the waterfall.
- 29:50Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 29:51Sean McAllister: Giant steel uh internal structure that was created to make that bunny come to life.
- 29:58Sean McAllister: And it's not a creepy rabbit either.
- 30:00Sean McAllister: You know how the Easter bunny can be super creepy sometimes?
- 30:04Sean McAllister: Actually, like most of the time.
- 30:06Sean McAllister: Right.
- 30:06Sean McAllister: This is a really cute rabbit to celebrate the the Chinese New Year.
- 30:11Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 30:12Dayna Roselli: Always a great time here in Las Vegas.
- 30:14Dayna Roselli: All right, let's do some tips.
- 30:21Sean McAllister: All right.
- 30:22Sean McAllister: To kick off tips, one of the recurring topics that always comes up here on the podcast and just in conversation when Vegas uh is brought up as a topic, parking.
- 30:37Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 30:38Dayna Roselli: And every time we always say, Oh, it's free to park at Resorts World still.
- 30:42Dayna Roselli: Well, we can't say that anymore.
- 30:44Sean McAllister: We cannot.
- 30:44Dayna Roselli: It finally changed.
- 30:45Dayna Roselli: I think it was like January 4th or something like that.
- 30:48Dayna Roselli: You have however.
- 30:50Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 30:51Dayna Roselli: However.
- 30:52Dayna Roselli: That's the best part, right?
- 30:53Dayna Roselli: Uh however, there's an easy way out of it.
- 30:57Dayna Roselli: We've got the big tip.
- 30:58Dayna Roselli: Download the app, become a Genting Rewards member.
- 31:03Dayna Roselli: It's free, doesn't charge in nothing.
- 31:06Dayna Roselli: You'll have access to the app, and literally in there, there's a tab called parking, and it makes a little QR codish thing with your name on it.
- 31:14Dayna Roselli: You scan that when you go in, and you park for free.
- 31:18Dayna Roselli: Boom.
- 31:19Sean McAllister: It's as easy as that.
- 31:20Dayna Roselli: It's as easy as that.
- 31:22Sean McAllister: Well, geez.
- 31:23Dayna Roselli: So it gets everyone to sign up, but um, you know, it's free.
- 31:28Dayna Roselli: It's not like you have to sign up and pay a membership fee or anything, so why not?
- 31:32Dayna Roselli: And there are great benefits in there too.
- 31:34Dayna Roselli: I was looking because I'm a local the amount of local specials in my app, it's like there's some really, really good ones.
- 31:44Dayna Roselli: And one of them now includes free parking, which is amazing.
- 31:47Dayna Roselli: But you get like these messages and they tell you like all these different things that are going on that pertain to you.
- 31:52Dayna Roselli: Like, hey, you can stay here for from this date to this date for 30% off.
- 31:59Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 32:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 32:00Dayna Roselli: Or you can go up to uh floor 66 and it's 20% off for locals on weekdays.
- 32:06Dayna Roselli: Or hey, we're having a$69 prefix over at Fuhu, and you get three courses and a cocktail.
- 32:14Dayna Roselli: So, like, it's worth having this if you are visiting Resorts World anyway.
- 32:19Dayna Roselli: So just download the app, sign up, and be a member.
- 32:22Sean McAllister: Amazing.
- 32:23Sean McAllister: I love that.
- 32:24Sean McAllister: Yeah, good tip.
- 32:25Sean McAllister: And by the way, uh the fee to park, it's a$10 maximum per day, correct?
- 32:31Dayna Roselli: Uh that's what I saw a sign say.
- 32:33Dayna Roselli: I haven't been over there since, but the sign said$10 max.
- 32:37Sean McAllister: So I'm saw that too.
- 32:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 32:38Dayna Roselli: So I'm pretty sure like we're 99.9% sure.
- 32:43Dayna Roselli: But like if it's not, then it was the 0.01.
- 32:50Dayna Roselli: Don't come back and yell at us.
- 32:53Sean McAllister: We're communicating what the sign told us.
- 32:55Dayna Roselli: The sign said that.
- 32:56Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so it's not bad.
- 32:57Dayna Roselli: We parked, we valet parked the other day.
- 32:59Dayna Roselli: Listen, I'm just gonna call it out because we valet parked the other day at Planet Hollywood because we had equipment for a shoot.
- 33:07Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 33:08Dayna Roselli: It was$40.
- 33:10Dayna Roselli: And I was like, okay, not Planet Hollywood, we miracle mile shops.
- 33:14Dayna Roselli: Well, it's same thing, right?
- 33:15Sean McAllister: No, it was the the Planet Hollywood, the main valet.
- 33:18Dayna Roselli: The main valet.
- 33:18Dayna Roselli: You're right, we did.
- 33:19Dayna Roselli: So I don't know.
- 33:21Dayna Roselli: That's a lot.
- 33:22Dayna Roselli: I know it was valet, but I think even parking sometimes when we've gone there, isn't it like 20, 25 bucks or something just to self-park?
- 33:29Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 33:29Dayna Roselli: Something like that.
- 33:30Dayna Roselli: It depends on the night and what's going on.
- 33:32Dayna Roselli: But anyway, if you can save yourself that, do it.
- 33:35Dayna Roselli: Hey, we're going to the Smith Center, or we went to the Smith Center.
- 33:38Dayna Roselli: When this posts, we have we will have already gone to the Smith Center, but we can't talk about right now what the night was like because we haven't gone yet.
- 33:45Dayna Roselli: But we're talking about Mulan Rouge.
- 33:46Dayna Roselli: Sean and I are going to see Moulin Rouge Friday night.
- 33:49Dayna Roselli: So last night, if you're listening to this on the first day the podcast was posted.
- 33:54Dayna Roselli: Oh gosh, that was a mouthful.
- 33:55Dayna Roselli: Because I don't want to be a liar.
- 33:57Dayna Roselli: I don't want to be like, we enjoyed Mulan Rouge.
- 33:59Dayna Roselli: It was what a night.
- 34:00Dayna Roselli: Did you see so-and-so?
- 34:01Dayna Roselli: That would be lying.
- 34:02Sean McAllister: It would be lying.
- 34:03Dayna Roselli: I followed the rules.
- 34:04Dayna Roselli: I'm a Virgo.
- 34:06Sean McAllister: I love and a rabbit.
- 34:07Sean McAllister: A Virgo and a rabbit.
- 34:08Sean McAllister: That's a good combination.
- 34:10Sean McAllister: Yeah, we're excited to see Mulan Rouge.
- 34:12Sean McAllister: Uh, it's part of the Broadway series that is ongoing over at uh the Smith Center.
- 34:17Sean McAllister: I believe later in the uh spring and March they have uh frozen, the musical coming, which is gonna be uh jam-packed.
- 34:26Sean McAllister: Families are gonna love to go and see that.
- 34:29Dayna Roselli: So we thought here, you know, and part of the tip is hey, here there's a whole slew of incredible Broadway shows at the Smith Center, which is right near downtown Las Vegas.
- 34:38Dayna Roselli: Even if you're visiting, yeah, you want to go see a show, go up there.
- 34:41Sean McAllister: And I believe that uh a lot of times they do release uh some last minute tickets like the day of the show.
- 34:50Sean McAllister: So it's always worth uh checking in uh with the Smith Center box office to see if there are any tickets that have become available, or you know, if people uh end up not being able to go and put their tickets back up for grabs.
- 35:07Dayna Roselli: Other shows coming up in March.
- 35:09Dayna Roselli: Um, Mean Girls, the musical, Tina, the Tina Turner musical will be there in June, which will be really good.
- 35:17Dayna Roselli: And I believe that's it for the season.
- 35:21Sean McAllister: Yeah, so we're rounding out the season, and then the new Broadway uh season kicks up the second half of 2023.
- 35:30Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so it's a good lineup, but we want to remind everyone the Smith Center's there, and next podcast will let you know.
- 35:36Dayna Roselli: I'm sure we're gonna love Moulin Rouge because I know it's gotten like Tony Awards and all that kind of thing.
- 35:41Sean McAllister: And by the way, aside from the touring Broadway shows that make stops at the Smith Center, they always have great lineups.
- 35:49Sean McAllister: Um they have multiple venues at the Smith Center complex.
- 35:53Sean McAllister: So uh you can go to thesmithcenter.com and check out the full lineup of entertainment that they have uh across their their complex.
- 36:03Sean McAllister: And I'm sure that you'll find something that is going to be amazing.
- 36:09Dayna Roselli: All right, guys, that's it for us.
- 36:11Dayna Roselli: We hope you have a great week and we'll see you next time.
- 36:15Dayna Roselli: I always say we'll see you.
- 36:17Dayna Roselli: I'm so used to being on TV.
- 36:18Dayna Roselli: We will talk to you.
- 36:20Sean McAllister: We'll chat again.
- 36:22Dayna Roselli: On episode 153.
- 36:25Dayna Roselli: Again, thanks so much to the Vegas Near Me app for sponsoring this podcast.
- 36:29Dayna Roselli: Download it now.
- 36:30Dayna Roselli: It's available on Google Play and iOS 16.
- 36:34Dayna Roselli: So they have great maps, by the way.
- 36:36Dayna Roselli: I wanted to mention that look inside the actual hotel casinos to find out where things are.
- 36:42Dayna Roselli: They've now updated that, and you can get right in there.
- 36:46Dayna Roselli: If you want to know where the restroom is, if you want to know where a certain restaurant is inside the property, you can do that now.
- 36:51Sean McAllister: Well, I was just going to mention restrooms because that is one of the most difficult things for people to find.
- 36:58Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 36:59Sean McAllister: When they walk into a casino, like, where are the restrooms?
- 37:02Sean McAllister: Where are the restrooms?
- 37:03Sean McAllister: Vegas Near Me will help you out in a pinch when you need to get there quick.
