  reaching the end of another week.

  So glad that you and I at the end of the week, we get to get

  together and we read a Psalm and this, oh, this is a great Psalm.

  This is a Psalm of lament as David cries out to God to rescue
• 0:36
  him from his enemies. And if you dive down into the
• 0:40
  structure of this Psalm and you have a look at the way that it
• 0:42
  was written and where the emphasis lies, we see it right
• 0:45
  in the heart of this Psalm, in the middle where the heart and
• 0:49
  the emphasis and the the main message of the Psalm is that
• 0:52
  David sees the work of God's hands in everything that goes
• 0:57
  on, and he responds by offering his hands in prayer to that God.

  So what a beautiful response in the middle of these challenges
• 1:06
  that we hear from our psalmist, King David.

  So let's read it together. Psalm 143.

  A Psalm of David. Here my prayer, O Lord, listen
• 1:28
  to my plea. Answer me because you are
• 1:31
  faithful and righteous. Don't put your servant on trial,
• 1:35
  for no one is innocent before you.

  My enemy has chased me. He has knocked me to the ground
• 1:43
  and forces me to live in darkness like those in the
• 1:46
  grave. I am losing all hope.
• 1:50
  I'm paralysed with fear. I remember the days of old.
• 1:55
  I ponder all your great works and think about what you have
• 1:59
  done. I lift my hands to you in
• 2:02
  prayer. I thirst for you as parched land
• 2:06
  thirsts for rain. Come quickly Lord, and answer
• 2:11
  me, for my depression deepens. Don't turn away from me or I
• 2:16
  will die. Let me hear of Your unfailing
• 2:20
  love each morning, for I am trusting You.
• 2:24
  Show me where to walk, for I give myself to You.
• 2:29
  Rescue me from my enemies. Lord, I run to You to hide me.
• 2:35
  Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God.
• 2:39
  May Your gracious Spirit lead me forever on a firm footing, for
• 2:44
  the glory of Your name, O Lord, preserves my life because of
• 2:50
  Your faithfulness. Bring me out of this distress.

  In Your unfailing love, silence all my enemies and destroy all

  my foes, for I am Your servant, our Lord.

  May You always be our number one priority and may we thirst for
• 3:23
  You as parched land thirsts for rain, because you are the only
• 3:29
  source of life. Life giving reigns for our souls
• 3:34
  that we will find and you save us and you embrace us and You
• 3:42
  are our All in all. So as we live in this world, in
• 3:47
  this life where so many people and so many things are going to
• 3:51
  tell us that they are the ones who will save us, Lord, do not
• 3:54
  let our hearts believe them. Let our hearts always turn to
• 3:58
  You and rest in you. May your love and your presence
• 4:04
  guard our hearts and hold us in your grace and your goodness.

  Ah Lord, you are wonderful and we praise You and we pray all of
• 4:17
  this in the saving name of your Son Jesus.
