We're gonna be hitting the top three things you need to know. Melbourne getting a soccer stadium. What is that? The morning, Mindbender. Mindy's Minute with the show Lanterns being a huge hit for HBO. Feel good story of the day. We're gonna give a shout-out to two of my favorite local mayors. Quiet quitting. It's what's trending now. Never knew about it until I researched it. And upcoming local events. Funny stories about my family. But this time we're gonna venture into my friends. Someone did a big reveal out of luncheon the other day. I don't think the person was ready for that. I don't think anybody at the table was ready for that. the story's coming up next. And please follow me on Instagram @mindyonair and on Facebook @mindylevy And subscribe to my YouTube channel when you get a chance. So now let's jump into the top three things you need to know. Well, it looks like developers have bought 54 acres of land from the Melbourne Airport Authority for about $9 million. They're going to be building an 8,000-seat United Soccer League Stadium. Kind of makes me want to think of Ted Lasso, one of my favorite shows. It's going to be between Hibiscus and Nasa Boulevard near the airport, Space Coast Professional Men's Soccer Club. Is coming to Melbourne in March of 2028. I saw the plans. It's taken over that whole area back there. Wow. Well, we're breaking records. Sea turtle nesting has reached record levels here on the Space Coast this year, and researchers say even more nests are coming for the rest of the nesting season. Sea turtle nesting season continues through the end of October. And here are some tips to keep our turtle safe. I know being locals here, we know what they are, but so we have a lot of tourists that come into town. They want to take pictures, they want to get near the nesting areas. I know they're blocked off, you're not supposed to. But you know, if you are a local, you want to be nice to them, you know, coming into town, kind of give them some information about staying about 50 feet away from the nesting turtles and hatchlings. Turn off or cover outdoor lights, close curtains, avoid using flashlights, phone lights, or camera flashes. after sunset if you are gonna take a walk on the beach. There's a new traffic safety study that says Florida is the safest state in America for driving during the summer. We beat out Massachusetts and Nebraska. Researchers say it's due to Florida's low number of deadly speeding cases. Today is National TV dinner day. Do you remember having a T V dinner? I do as a kid. My parents always worked or out of town. So my big brothers would always put a TV dinner in in the tin tray. And how come when you always got the turkey? Because it's always turkey, mashed potatoes, and the little I think was it the apple pie? And every time you touch it, it would burn the outsides, but the center was always frozen. The peas. Remember the peas are always frozen in the in the tin, the tin area. I don't know if that was any good for you. I don't know. I mean, TV dinners now have gotten a lot better, but yeah, I remember that. And it's also National School Picture Day. Here's my school picture from Mel High. Go Bulldogs, my senior class photo. So if I shared mine, I want you to share yours. So post your school pictures in the comments. Love to see it for our National School Picture Day. God, that was the most That was the most stressful day. Gotta have your hair, your makeup done, this and that. Had to go to a place to get it done. Remember they had to put the The shoulder thing, either you got the fluffy white one or you got the black one. I use the black one. But yeah, for the shoulders for the for for the girls. I think the guys had to have the tuxes on. Yeah, I remember back in the day, our school pictures. And that's the top three things you need to know. In a few seconds, when your good friend tells another good friend, they have a crush on them after all these years. Let's talk about that story. I was invited to a luncheon with You know, a bunch of friends, you know, old friends, new friends, you know, people that I've been with for a long time. So we had a really nice lunch. Everyone showed up, saw someone that I haven't seen in a long time. So everyone just had it was one of those really great lunches where everyone told stories, enjoyed it, no one was in a rush to go anywhere. And all of a sudden, toward the end of the lunch, my friend, I'm not naming names, because I'm gonna be very nice, decided to say, you know what? You always drove me nuts. You always drove me nuts saying this is the other person. But I had the biggest crush on you. Woo! Everyone at the table stopped, looked, what is going on? End of the table's like, what just happened? And person explained it. Yes, I always had a crush on you. So you know when you're in school and that little boy they always like to pick on you and you know, always did this and this. That's because they like you. Apparently they did. So he had this big crush on her. She never knew. And then she was like, Really? So they started talking. unfortunately one of them already has someone, but it was just a very And we weren't drinking, by the way. None of us were drinking. I'm not a drinker, so none of we weren't having cocktails. It was a luncheon. We were just having iced tea and soda. And I'm looking, you sure you want to say this? Yeah, I'm gonna say this. I don't know if I'm ever gonna see these people again. Okay. Big reveal. That was great. I had to run home and tell my husband, like, you're not gonna believe who so-and-so said to so-and-so. See, we even gossip after having a luncheon. But I do encourage you. If you haven't seen old friends in a long time, go out to lunch with them. Go out to dinner with them. Or, you know, come over to the house and just have an uninterrupted meal with somebody without having to rush to work or, you know, going out of town or doing something. And just have a really nice conversation because I'm I like I'm still smiling because the conversation and everything that we talked about that day. it was really fun. And the big reveal was pretty crazy. All right, coming up next, let's talk about the morning mind bender because we're gonna give you last week's answer and then give you this week's question of the week. All right, here we go. Here comes our morning mind bender, and last week's answer was beer. The question: what drink should you avoid if you want to keep the mosquitoes away? And you can post it in the comments. That that was the deal on this. Post it in the comments. So shout out to Bridget of Melbourne, Lori. Debbie Amerit Island, Suheil she also got it correct. Karen wrote whiskey. Well, Karen, if you drink enough whiskey, people will avoid you. Yeah, but no, the answer was beer. So the question for this week, which you can post it in the comments, and you'll get shout-outs for next episode, the podcast for next episode next week. In 1980, this RB boy band had members such as Bobby Brown and all three future members of Bell Biv Devoe. I love them. They were great. Hits included cool it nah. Yeah, I'm not gonna sing, or Mr. Telephone. Phone man. There's something wrong with my headline. Come on, it was the 80s. I'm an 80s girl. That's such a great I love them. I mean, they came out. I was like, yes. If you know the answer to today's morning mindbender, post the answer in the comments. The question again: What 1980s RB boy band had members such as Bobby Brown and all three future members of Bell Biv DeVoe? And their hits included Cool It Now and Mr. Telephone Man. If you know the answer, post it in the comments. And if you get it right, we'll give you a shout-out next week on the podcast. Coming up next, it's Mindy's Minute. All the entertainment you need for the week. Let's go. Let's hit it. Mindy's Minute. Everyone's been watching HBO's Lanterns, except for me and my husband. We don't have HBO anymore. Sometimes you're in a bunch of you have to cut things out. And that wound up being in it, which I like, All right, the series third episode, which aired August 30th. Averaged 10 million viewers globally after three days. Wow. It also reached seven million views in the US alone. HBO says the show is one of the top five series launches in the platform's history. I'm a big fan of Prince, yes, huge fan. I don't know if you are, but I am. The Prince Estate has released Timeless, a never-before-released album. The project, which follows the 10-year anniversary of his death, captures his career across different years. The songs were recorded between 1977 and 2016. Prince's Estate also released a video for The Guilty Ones. That's the name of the song, recorded in 2007. Which features a montage spanning his musical career. I just watched it and it just sad to see that he's gone and and how much talent he had and to hear the song. And it's it's it's a heavy rock song, which I was very surprised at. But I'll tell you my story. Okay, being an 80s girl, Purple Rain, it makes me want to watch it this weekend. Big fan. So when Prince went on his Purple Rain tour back in the eighties, mom and I got tickets. I say my mom. Still drag my mom around. we went to the to the concert. It was at the Orange Bowl in South Florida. And if you've ever been to the Orange Bowl, I'm taking you way back. You know, we're talking concrete seats. And my mom got tickets and it was in the nosebleed. There's no such thing as nosebleed. I think it was over there by the ISS, International Space Station, because you couldn't even see anything. But the fact that I could say I was at the Prince concert, Purple Rain Tour. I was there. Had binoculars. I could barely see him but I didn't care. I was there. Everyone singing, everyone dancing, you know, putting on the show. It was it was an amazing experience that I still remember to this day. Love that show. purple rate. I'm gonna watch it this weekend. Lionel Richie is out of the hospital. That's good news. According to people, Richie was released from a St. Louis hospital last Wednesday after he checked himself in following a performance Saturday night. He reportedly underwent cardiac tests while in an intensive care unit. People say Richie is back home in Los Angeles and is doing great. Good. That's that's good news. And that's it for Mindy's Minute. Coming up next, our topic of the day. What is the dumbest way you hurt yourself? I can give you a list of what my husband's gone through. But I'm not gonna give you the list. We want to hear your list too. But that's what we're gonna talk about for our topic of the day. So, what is the dumbest way you hurt yourself? I'll tell you the story about Hawaii with my husband. We were there on our honeymoon, you know, we went to our honeymoon, and the parking garages were really low. And we rented a convertible. didn't have the doors on it, didn't have the top on it. It was completely open because we were just going through, you know, driving through Maui, the pineapples, we were going to North Shore. We were just jumped in that Jeep and went everywhere. So we're excited. So we got out of the hotel, we went to the parking garage. And my husband reached in over the door to try to unlock it because the one of the sides was zipped up. So when he jumped up, boom, head hit the concrete. He had his box cap on. And I was all of a sudden I like, my God, he's gonna pass out. Now my husband's about six one, six two, you know, tall man. I can't carry him back to the hotel. So I was like, babe, babe, wake up. I swear I thought he passed out. And he's like, my gosh, my head. When he pulled off the his baseball cap. You know they have the button on the baseball cap, right? It was indented in his head. He still has the scar. He still has the scar on top of his head. I'm like, my gosh. So we had to go back to the hotel room, which is s like a timeshare. So we had a a refrigerator. And for some reason we had a bag of peas in there. So I grabbed the bag of peas and I put it on his head and we sat on the couch for about 30 minutes. I'm like, you're gonna be okay and he's like, yeah, okay, my vision's coming back. And I said We can just stay here for the day. He's like, No, we're in Hawaii. Let's go. So, you know, we did our traveling. But to this day you can you can see he's got a scar right at top of his head from the button of the baseball cap. Now, I'll tell you my story. Now, back in the day, you know, I still I always had to wake up like super early in the morning to do the morning show on the radio. And for some reason I I didn't have I always shut the f I always shut my bedroom door. Always shut the bedroom door, then open it and go. But for some reason it was cracked open. So I was trying to get through the house. And it was about like four o'clock in the morning. Didn't even pay attention. Didn't even see the door. So the doors cracked open halfway, right? And I'm walking. Bang! And literally from the top of my forehead to the side of my nose to my chin down to the middle, all the way down. There was a big line because I hit the crack of the door because it was open. Boom! And I was like, And I was like, okay, I'll be fine. And then the longer the day went, the more pain I kept feeling. Like, why is my forehead so hurt? Why is my chin hurt? Why does it hurt all the way down here? And then I got home and literally there was a line all the way down because I hit the crack of the door. Mm-hmm. Yeah. What is the dumbest way you hurt yourself? So we want your stories. Your stories. Post them in the comments. We'd love to hear about it. And we can share it for next week. Coming up next, what's trending? Have you heard about quiet quitting your marriage? Now, apparently there's a job one and there's a marriage one. Let's get to that trending survey. Maybe you have heard about this. I have not heard about this. And quiet quitting has found its way from the workplace to some marriages. The term is known for doing only the minimum required on the job. So basically, you're quiet quitting by doing nothing, doing whatever they ask you to do, but the little portion of it. Couldn't do that in my job, not at all. In relationships, it refers to spouses who stay together despite lack of emotional effort or communication in the relationship. Relationship experts say couples may continue managing day-to-day responsibilities like parenting, household tack tasks like cleaning the house. You know, you split them in half, you know, whatever laundry, things like that. Even as one partner becomes emotionally or physically disengaged, that's what they're calling quiet quitting for marriages. The term is trending on social media as users share videos and posts about staying in a marriage while feeling checked out. That's not good. My husband and I are thick as thieves. We're like this. Even if we don't want to be. We're like together. We're a team. Yeah, a team. Did you see? wait, let me go over here. Did you see? He put the patches up. I had to get out of the room because you don't want me touch anything. He's like, Don't touch anything. I was like, I won't But yeah, all the patches are up from all the launches that I did in the last gosh, twenty six years. and he found the patches too. We have more, we have another box full, but yeah, he put those up. But there's no way I could c go quiet quitting. Either my job or my marriage. No way. If that's an issue, mm-hmm. You may wanna try a another relationship. All right. So let's get to our local events that are coming up this tomorrow and this weekend and one that's happening during the month. And we would love for you to be a part of it. It's all local. That's coming up right now. Well, it's been twenty five years since the September eleventh attacks, which just blows my mind. I don't know about you. Twenty-five years. Wow. where were you? You know, do you remember where you were? my story starts with being on the radio. My morning partner at the time was Dave Kelly. And we're on the air and we're just wrapping up a certain part of the show. And then there were TVs in the studio, little small ones, and we kept watching the news. You know, the it was on mute and news and I w my eyes got really big and he turns around and then the news wire was going nuts and and flashes and the computers and everything was going nuts about the first plane hitting the first tower. And we went right on the air. live on the air, going through the whole thing, explaining what was happening, what happening. The second plane hit. And he says from this from this day, he still remembers the look on my face when I realized it was a second plane. Everyone thought the first one was an accident. You're like, my goodness, second plane? Yeah. That was a tough day. And then tough after that, trying to report this and getting information and hearing about how many lives were lost. So we were sitting in the studio that and we stayed there all day. And it was it was it was it was difficult. And then trying to get a hold of loved ones and family members and people and making sure everyone was okay and my family's my husband's family is from New York and that was a hard day. That was a hard day. Twenty-five years ago. Wow. so where were you? Tell us your story. You can put it in the comments. We'd love to hear from you. and that leads us to the tributes that we're gonna have here in Brevard County. You can join residents in Palm Bay and honoring the lives lost and the heroes who emerged from September eleventh. at their Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony. The event will take place at Sacrifice Park, and that's going to be tomorrow, September 11th at 8:30 in the morning. there will be a 9-11 service at 6 p.m. tomorrow in the plaza of the Brevard Veterans Memorial Center on Merritt Island. Another event, you're welcome to pay your respects at the Avenue Viera That's also tomorrow, September 11th, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The World Trade Center Memorial Site is located across from the AMC Theaters. Volunteers will gather at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on September 12th, as part of a day of service and remembrance. Volunteers will help clean headstones and beautify the grounds in tribute to military members, veterans, first responders, and their families. Registration is free, but is required for you to sign up. If you've never visited the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, it is the most amazing place and it's so beautiful the way they keep the grounds. And I think because people volunteer their time. To clean it to make sure it's amazing. It's amazing. If you've never been there, you should go, especially in Brevard County. It's in our, it's in our backyard. And switching gears since it's childhood cancer awareness month. If you're heading to Texas Roadhouse in Viera it's one of my favorite spots with mom and I and my husband, we love going there. Their loaded sweet potato is outstanding. It's a dessert. It weighs 10 pounds. It's so good. But if you decide to go to Texas Roadhouse in Viera anytime in the month of September, if you donate $5 to St. Baldrick's, which provides research for childhood cancer, you'll get a bounce back of a free cactus bloom or fried pickles appetizer. Ooh, that's pretty good. You can check out the QR code. We just posted it up here so that you can see it. this is a St. Baldrick's. I emcee the event every single year in March. raising a ton of money for St. Baldrick's, which is an amazing foundation. So think about when you're going out to eat in September, heading over to Texas Roadhouse in Viera and then ask them about donating the, you know, the get the QR code before you go. And we just posted it so you can have it. And that is the events for the next couple of days locally here in Brevard. Our next segment is the local feel good story of the day. A shout out to two local mayors, my buds I love them. And good news from them too, which I'm glad they're both on it together. So let's talk about our local feel-good story of the day. A big shout out to Cocoa Mayor Mike Blake, has been elected president-elect of the Florida League of Mayors. And Palm Bay Mayor Rob Medina has once again been elected to serve on the Florida League of Mayors Board of Directors, joining mayors from all across the state of Florida, from their cities. And since 2005, the primary duty of the Florida League of Mayors is to provide a powerful platform for Florida mayors to speak out on issues that are important to their cities and citizens. So they all get together, they all discuss what programs they have, what they use, what they don't use, what they would like to use, and just come together to talk about each and every city that they represent and the citizens that they represent too. So, way to go. My two favorite mayors. Absolutely. That is our local feel-good story of the day. And before we end this episode, I threw in a hack of the day. I think I'm gonna do this every week because I thought this was really interesting. A lot of people are afraid of spiders. My brother's best friend is a pilot, because my brother pull flies too, and he has his big hanger in Daytona. And my brother, because when you go in the hangar, watch out for the spiders. Spiders. He goes, no, they're not little spiders. Spiders are as big as a dog. I'm like, well, then I'm not going in. Why would I go into a hangar? I'll wait till the airplane comes out. How about that? I'll wait on the tarmac and then I'll jump in. I'm not going into a hangar where there's life size spiders. Not that I'm afraid of spiders, but if they're bigger than my dog, no. So anyway, if you are afraid of spiders, you can spray a mix of water and peppermint oil. Make sure it's diluted. And you can do that around your windows and doors to keep them away. They hate the smell of it. And then wasps, they don't like it either. So that's your hack of the day. Or just don't walk into anger with spiders, big as dogs. No, thank you. And we're gonna throw in the song of the week. And I think this is really appropriate for September 11th tomorrow. This is from Alan Jackson. Where are you when the world stopped turning? It's a wonderful lyrics. He wrote it as a tribute to September 11th. So something you want to listen to. In the next couple of days. And what do we have? Shout outs. I want to give some shout-outs. thank you for everyone for my birthday shout-outs. that was really nice of you. I I love all the birthday wishes and the memes and the pictures and just really appreciate it. Jessica, who do we have? Richie. Hey Richie. Yo, Richie. Yeah, and Marie and Terry. And Tommy, thank you guys. I mean, the list goes on and on, but I really want to thank you guys for all the birthday shout outs. That's very nice of you and the birthday wishes. And if you didn't put a birthday wish, don't worry about it. You got next year. You can always get it next year, right? All good. And that wraps up another episode. Thank you so much.
