Latest / The Daily Writer / Why I Publish Every Day
Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hey my friend, welcome to the Daily Writer, where we help writers become authors of their own lives.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: Since you listen to this podcast, you already know that I send out a daily email, and obviously, you know that I publish here on this podcast every day.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Now, I admit that this practice is a little bit controversial because some people think that a daily podcast or a daily email is too much.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: And they ask, why not send out something weekly or even monthly, whether it's a podcast, email, or whatever you're publishing.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Now, I don't presume to know what's best for your audience or for your writing or your business goals or what fits into your particular lifestyle.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: However, I can share my top three reasons for sending a daily email and doing a daily podcast.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: And I hope that it will at least help you consider the value of publishing every day, no matter what form it takes.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Let's dive in.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Number one, publishing every day helps me practice my craft.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: I believe that writing is like a muscle.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: The more that you exercise, the stronger and the faster that you'll get.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Likewise, if you want to be a better writer, you'll improve much faster by writing daily rather than weekly or monthly.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: And of course, as you write every day, I encourage you to publish.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Number two, publishing daily keeps me in contact with my audience.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: My relationship with you is based on trust, empathy, and regular communication.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: In order for you to trust me and feel that you know me and that I have your best interest at heart, I have to show up with something valuable to share.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: And you have to know me and my perspective.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: And the truth is that I have to know you as well.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: And since I publish every day, it lets me build trust more quickly and also I can see what ideas are connecting with you and which ones are not.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Number three, publishing every day forces me to be a better thinker.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: The reality is that when you publish a daily email or a daily podcast, you have to show up every day with something to say.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: And that forces me to think of new ideas or to come up with fresh angles on ideas that I've already talked about, maybe ideas that I've talked about dozens of times.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: You know, our thinking is not static.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Our thinking grows or shrinks based on what we're required to do.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: And if you have to say something valuable every day, if you have to show up every day, no matter where you're publishing, you will always be looking for ideas to share.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: Well, the bottom line here is that publishing every day does take time and effort.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Of course it does.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: It takes a lot of time and effort.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: But what it gives me in return is priceless.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: And whether you're publishing via a podcast, email list, social media, or a blog, I believe that publishing every day is a great way to become a better writer, communicator, and thinker.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Well, I would love to know how often do you publish your writing?
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: I would sincerely love to know.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: You can shoot me an email at Kent at KentSanders.net and share your thoughts.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Hey, thanks for listening today.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Keep writing, keep showing up, and I'll see you tomorrow.
