- 1:38skipping a couple of weeks here. The reason for that was that the episode
- 1:46we were going to play from January eleventh, it was in such bad shape
- 1:52when it got to the denouement, in particular, I think actually throughout most
- 1:55of the episode it sounded passable, but when we got to the denoueman,
- 2:00sounded so clipped you couldn't really understand the solution to the case, which is
- 2:07a big deal when detective fiction and the other episode we may yet find a
- 2:14way to acquire, but I don't have hands on it yet and it's not
- 2:19easily accessible online. So we're going to January twenty fifth, nineteen forty eight,
- 2:24and this episode is the Case of the Invisible Treasure fiction Mick Cotter master
- 2:31detection. We'll have to cross the street, makes the bust out on the
- 2:42other corner. Okay, oh, let's go. We have a green light.

- 8:13your bat. Now wait a minute, who's buying that for me? I'm
- 8:16afraid not. There's something about this Heavenly Sin cologne that interests me too.
- 8:20Right, you'll keep the money, We'll keep the heaven with Sin. Well,
- 8:33that's cross the street. Make I get the bugs on the opposite corner,
- 8:37I know, but wait for the light. Thank yeah, Stay in
- 8:41the world did you buy that colone? It as? I'm curious to know
- 8:43why everyone wanted a corner the market on. That girl in the name che
- 8:48could have murdered us first, after all, I did promise to buy it
- 8:50for her. Awfully pretty girl wasn't here. Oh you like please blonde fat
- 8:58me? What could there me about that cologne to make even a thug like
- 9:01that other character off for one hundred dollars, I can't imagine unless it's gefully
- 9:05scared. Well, go to take it back to the office with you as
- 9:09soon as I get there, we'll see what's in the bottom. No,
- 9:13I have to pick up some new chemicals from my lap. I'll be there
- 9:15as soon as that. Oh, here's the last month. I guess not
- 9:30in my knee. Lucky, that's tacks. They had good breaks. Are
- 9:35you all right? Oh? Hello, Hell, I'm okay, but I
- 9:39got to tell you something. Let me have to pick up those packages.
- 9:41Thanks, Well, I've got to less of them. Yes, you tell
- 9:46me about it later, Patty, here's a tax deal. Get in,
- 9:48but in you though, I want to stand up on a crowded bus after
- 9:52they shake up, you better tell the driver to take you home or change
- 9:56your stocking first. I'll see what's the office in about an hour, slo
- 10:03and it's not a thing. How do you feel after your accident? I
- 10:16tried to tell you, Nick, it was no accident. What someone pushed
- 10:20me in front of that taxi pushed you? Are you sure? Of course?
- 10:24I am. I distinctly felt a hand in the middle of my back.
- 10:30That was just about the primate I'll hump a short. No, No,
- 10:31it was now. I saw him in the crowd ten or fifteen feet
- 10:35away, just before it happened. Besides, I know who it was.
- 10:39You're jewels? Who that same man? Or try to buy off all the
- 10:43heavenly sin cologne? What not? That these them and those characterists that perfume
- 10:48Carter, that's the one. I heard his voice behind me just as I
- 10:52was pushing, and I was right, there is something important about that Colonne.
- 10:56Let's have a look at the bottle. Oh, who can't, poor
- 11:01cat, it's all mess. I had to throw it away. I didn't
- 11:05notice it was broken when they picked up the packages after the accident. We
- 11:09must have been too excited. But so I got in a taxi began to
- 11:11notice the air just reached the cologne. So I looked down and there it
- 11:16was, running out of the passage. It was a mess. Did you
- 11:18know what that's anything unusual about the cologne itself? No, it smelled very
- 11:22ordinated me. There wasn't anything inside the bottle except cologne. No, I
- 11:28a thing, Oh right away, you have my bott of bath sauce.
- 11:31Yo, what a bath saw? They were in a package just about the
- 11:35same size as the Colonne bottle was I thought you picked it up and I
- 11:39fell down? You mean a package the same size and shape as the one
- 11:41The cologne was in is missing. But if you don't have it, it
- 11:45must be That's why you were pushed in front of that taxi so that you
- 11:50dropped the packages and in the excitement somebody could get away with one. But
- 11:52who want my bath sauce? They got the bath sauce by the speak passage,
- 11:56but the cologne they were after, and they wanted it badly enough to
- 12:01risk killing you to get it. Oh, of course the tatas looked right,
- 12:07and they show the wrong run exactly. Oh I wish I had you
- 12:11broken that model so they never know what mode is so valuable. Well,
- 12:16whatever it was, that blonde and the mink coat knew it too. How
- 12:20about the other woman the battle act? Oh no, she didn't know because
- 12:22she wasn't even interested until I try to get the cologne away from her.
- 12:26Right, she only brought it out of stubbornness. And if we could locate
- 12:28her, if he still has the cologne, maybe we can find the answer
- 12:33that way. We don't know who she is, No, we don't,
- 12:35but he said she'd been a customer of Madame Helene's for twenty years. I'll
- 12:41see what I can find out in the store in the morning. I'm porry,
- 12:56sir, But I never saw the ladies before. I see. Well,
- 13:00are you a regular clerk in the perfume sector? I am not a
- 13:03clerk at all. I'm the department supervisor. I was just helping out yesterday.
- 13:07In the movie an Emergency again, miss o'chet our buyern, she stays
- 13:11lady in perfume had to be rush of a hospital with a cute peddicider.
- 13:16She was operated on yesterday afternoon. Uh uh, And I won't be able
- 13:20to see her for a day or two. No, I'm afraid not say.
- 13:24You know. I've been wondering why everyone was so anxious to buy up
- 13:28our stock of seven. I wonder too, But it looks as though I'm
- 13:33going to have trouble finding out. How'd you they got me? Oh?
- 13:48I didn't. Nobody at the store has any idea who that woman is.
- 13:52Well, I think I know you do. How did you find out?
- 13:56I writ in the morning paper enough widow slain and westside rooming house body of
- 14:03missus Aldura Telford forty seven is discovered teagraph in a shabby room, wreaking a
- 14:09strong cologne. That's what I mean? Yeah? Does try in? Nobody
- 14:16go on Saton door as the Telford evidently put up a determined fight for a
- 14:20life breath in her right hand with a broken cologne bottle of heavy cut glass,
- 14:24a label reading ironically enough, Heavenly crim Now tell me I'm wrong,
- 14:31Now, Petty, you're right. We've found out they were looking for too
- 14:35late. With the brutal murder of Missus Telford and the destruction of the only
- 14:46other bottle of cologne Nick knows about, it seems that his chance of solving
- 14:50the riddle has vanished. We'll see what happens in just a moment. Now
- 14:58back to the case the Invisible Treasure. Today's adventure with Nick Carter brought you
- 15:03by a new poufo old Dutch cleansor. Nick believes that Missus Eldora Telford was
- 15:09murdered because she had in her possession a bottle of cologne called Heavenly sim But
- 15:15what's the secret of the cologne, may be he doesn't know. Nick and
- 15:18Patsy are now in Missus Telfert's rooms to see whether they can learn anything there.
- 15:22The lodging house Gianaka is with him. Wow, Patsy, there's no
- 15:26stance for finding out anything from the Colonne's stairs bottles completely slanted. It looks
- 15:31as though she used it as a weason to the family self. Yeah,
- 15:35nobody's Sam mis Telford to get mine to her home. I can tell that
- 15:37at the story yesterday from nobody heard the fright me thinking maybe you captain early
- 15:43last night. In most of my room it is out, So you think
- 15:48somebody would hear that? That new girl across the house she got to on
- 15:52tolad I got the pound team fight three times. Frame up, Yeah,
- 15:56one of those story program all stream shuiting Ellen carrying, he said, a
- 16:03new girl. Yeah, sure, she used to him last night, right,
- 16:07because Paul, come on, let's go over there. Yea a radio
- 16:11blasting away. He might have covered up the sound of a face. Yes,
- 16:15especially if the house was almost deserted. That's the room. Yeah,
- 16:18I mean, I don't think she'd be home and I we'll see what's your
- 16:22new room or look like mister Hanson. Well she was so pretty like anything.
- 16:29She dressed so good and fine, her coat with a brown first.
- 16:33Yeah, sure you brown hair, did she? Yeah, that's a long
- 16:38yellow hair. You know her house wouldn't be surprised. We're not getting anyone
- 16:42knocking. I'm going in. She wasn't even last, no reason why she
- 16:48is happy. She's gone again. You want to go to Madame Hallayne's downshop
- 17:03again. There's one more thing I want to check. They handle that cologne
- 17:07regularly. They may have the address of someone else who's thought a bottles sometime
- 17:11in the past. An you want to charge your count Oh, either that
- 17:15my record of delivery. If the colonne is so ragguable to these crooks,
- 17:18I can't understand why they let Missus tells the stairs all over the room,
- 17:22Patty, I'm not so sure it's the cologne thereafter? And what is it?
- 17:26Well, it's one thing missing and Missus Telford room the stopper to that
- 17:30bottle. But it's right. I didn't see it either, and it's the
- 17:34sort of thing that they should have noticed. Right. It's very large and
- 17:38made it look like cut glass, wasn't it? Uh huh? We don't
- 17:41only saved the pieces of the bottle you today. That package was such a
- 17:49mess. I didn't like to leave it in the taxi, so I'd carry
- 17:52it up to my room and through it in the room. Fash, that's
- 17:55great, I'll stop it the next corner you can get a taxi, go
- 17:56home and get that glass stopper and take it to the office for the less
- 18:00than an hour my home tom early that when I'm gonna right out again.
- 18:25Ruby, he's still visit. Good, I say, no time to be
- 18:30laying down my job. Ruby, yet, come out and sister and make
- 18:42yourself at home. Yeah, we've been waiting for you. But cart it
- 19:00would be a tremendous amount of work to check to all those records. Sorry,
- 19:03but I don't care how much work it is. I want to find
- 19:06out whether you know anybody who ever bought a bottle of Heavenly Sin cologne.
- 19:10Well, I suppose it could be done to drug Do anything you can tell
- 19:14me, I will say not. If miss Brochet was in the hospital,
- 19:17she might know for yourself. Very much of that cologne, so very little
- 19:19as a matter of pat haven't seen is an important sense? We get only
- 19:23a half dozen bottles every now and then. Where is it imported from?
- 19:26You buy small concern and France. If Brochet attended to be ordering, hey,
- 19:33come to think this, I've never even seen it on the counter to
- 19:34yesterday. Why was it there? Then? When Miss Brochet was taken to
- 19:38the hospital so unexpectedly. Well, I have to step in. The chipping
- 19:42had just arrived, so I put it on display that she usually unpack it
- 19:48herself. Lie and I and so I appear. But please have those records
- 19:53checked as soon as possible. I think I'm beginning to understand what this is
- 19:57all about. Well, I turn you were shy? Did I know miss
- 20:12past in the room at the cat when I see that back two hours?
- 20:15Those who says he's going on outgain? I know? I know you were
- 20:19supposed to make me at my office? Thank well, would you look at
- 20:29that? Don't struck it me anywhere that's curly and have to clean? Then?
- 20:36Only this man waste? I told you made it to rooms. I
- 20:42don't all that stuff out the waste past liancinerator. You're there? Oh good,
- 20:48well and except we're no video, pizza glass and some kind of bottle
- 20:53stop. I did take that stopper? What did you do with it?
- 20:57Stopper? Well? How does think ms Pottery cares? How he started the
- 21:02roll? So pretty out and take it all smile play? Will you hold
- 21:07on to that stopper? I'll see that you get the biggest tips you of
- 21:08her head? Yes? No, no, not now, I haven't time.
- 21:15I gotta find Pasti's the big This is Nick Carter. Oh did you
- 21:30find out anything about the people who bought that colonne? Yes, mister Carter.
- 21:33And it's rather surprising too, I wanted to find Well, Mis Brochet
- 21:37must have stopped it just for a few special customers. Because each shipman contained
- 21:42only six bottles. You know who got them? I'm coming to that.
- 21:45I suppose it's why she never put them on display. What do you mean
- 21:51all six bottles went out on the delivery truck every time, and always to
- 21:56the same customers, the same customers. Yes you have the name, Yes
- 21:59they yes, list is right here, missus Lillian Lamont and mister William Avery
- 22:04and missus George Nestor mister Alan Harper. What mister Alan Harper, three seventy
- 22:12four West Corey Street. And then never mind of that, I've got what
- 22:17I need to know. I'm asking you for the last time, sister,
- 22:30what did you do with that stupper? Tell you I don't know she's lying
- 22:33out. Let me slap a little. You'll get your chance, curly if
- 22:38she doesn't open up. When that man plussed me in the bottle brook,
- 22:41I wasn't interested in it anymore. I throw it away now, don't try
- 22:45to kid me. I started to get into that taxi with it and little
- 22:49courage all the way home in another cab. You didn't throw anything out of
- 22:52that tab bell. I'll swear to that. So you had it when you
- 22:56went into your house. Now where is it? I don't know? Oh,
- 23:02that'll teaching. What did you do with that stopper? Throw it in
- 23:07the ways? Starling again, al Curlly and I tore that room apart.
- 23:11It wasn't there. Give me you love me, Team shot. You're gonna
- 23:15get your chance in just a minute's sister for the last time, are you
- 23:21gonna tell me? I don't know where you I don't know. Okay,
- 23:23you're asking for it. Curry, you can take over, Yeah, yeah,
- 23:30do that, But turn on the radio and turn it up good loud.
- 23:37We don't want nobody to hear Curly marking advances toward Patsy as the radio
- 23:48Blair's fort loudly to cover the sound of her screen. We'll see what happens
- 23:52in just a minute now for the conclusion of the case of the Invisible Tracker,
- 24:00Today's adventure with Nick Carter brought you by you, pulf war All that's
- 24:06glensor, the cup glass stopper of a cologne bottle is so in party to
- 24:10Al Hopper and his gang. But they've committed murder to get possession of mine.
- 24:14Now they've taken Patty to Hopper's home to foster reveal where the stopper she
- 24:18had is hidden? Can that radio will blood? A little? Okay,
- 24:22Kelly? And now it didn't fight? I guy, I don't know,
- 24:33Kelly, passon sence it awahead door down. I'm gonna shoot say right where
- 24:52you are? Er any more scary to be Don Hiles doing? You're fruit.
- 25:07It was a lot of thing. You were on a fire or sweep
- 25:10outside the window when Al started a stouping not all love, Patty. When
- 25:14I learned that Al Happer was one of the people to whom those bottles of
- 25:17cologne were delivered, I felt pretty sure they'd take it to hit place.
- 25:21So you brought the police with you. That's right. They went up inside
- 25:25the house while I came up the fire escape. Uh huh. But Nick,
- 25:27have you found out what's so important about that cut glass bottle stopper?
- 25:32M hm? And here it is. I'll show you. Oh it is.
- 25:36Look how it SPARKLEA wait a minute and I'll show you some real sparkle.
- 25:40Oh what are you going to do with that hammers? Oh roked,
- 25:45I certainly did. I was fut of water mm hmm, peeled in And
- 25:49that's not all. Look, damn, why about twenty thousand dollars worth in
- 25:56every bottle of that cologne seat Patty and her diamonds are almost invisible, and
- 26:02inside that cut glass stopper they were completely sold and Allen's gang were smuggled.
- 26:06You guess it that heaven Its in Cologne was battled in France by a company
- 26:11which was really only the front for a gang of crooks, and the perfume
- 26:15buyer, Madame Elane's downshop was the receiver on this in that's right, Madam
- 26:19Helene didn't know anything about it. Clire I ree Bouchet unpacked every shipment personally
- 26:26and sent it out on the delivery truck to the members of the gang.
- 26:29So when she was suddenly taken to the hospital with a pandaciitis, it upset
- 26:32all their plans, I'll say it did. The big shipment was due that
- 26:36day. She knew that if she wasn't there, he'd be put on the
- 26:38corner. Uh huh. So from the hospital she managed to get word to
- 26:42well on the others and they all came down to buy it up. Ifore
- 26:45anyone else had a chang right, and if it hadn't been from Missus Telford's
- 26:49seven, that they'd have got away with it. God, Nick, was
- 26:53it lil who art of missus Chelsea? No, Curly Leo took that room

- 27:11will get your share of it. Only that I'm going to get to a
- 27:15nice present that makes you up for all the trouble you have. How wonderful?
- 27:18What kind of a present? A nice big bottle of clone? Welcome
- 27:30back, well, Nick Carter. The strength of the series is its mystery,
- 27:37and this is definitely no exception. Uh. I've had just a great
- 27:45job of drawing you in, making you wonder you know why is everybody so
- 27:52excited about getting their hands on this perfume? And I like the whole setup
- 27:59and a really nicely worked out solution. The episodes that we're missing, I
- 28:04should mention, were the case of the Graveyard Gunman, which you'll find on
- 28:11a lot of websites, but it cuts off too much. And then there's
- 28:15the case of the Man who Died Twice and this one I am looking into
- 28:19seeing if we can get for a future episode of the program, and if
- 28:23we can, we'll come back to it of course. All right, Well,
