- 3:33Speaker 2: Oh, no for it? Why not?
- 3:36Speaker 1: Let all live from studios in Idaho, Michigan, and New York.

- 3:47Speaker 1: Today on the show, we are going to review the
- 3:50Speaker 1: final installment of the Calvy Universe Star Trek Beyond. Plus
- 3:55Speaker 1: we've got Star Trek News and your listener feedback. I'm
- 4:00Speaker 1: Scott Boucher's with Daniel Reyes and now just back from Riza.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Is that a four guy in your pocket? Or you're
- 4:07Speaker 1: just happy to see us? Dad Lobardo? Nice? Okay, I
- 4:17Speaker 1: like it.
- 4:18Speaker 2: I like that INJURYCT curtain.
- 4:19Speaker 3: We need a curtain for me to come out from behind.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Yes we do, Yes, we do.
- 4:23Speaker 2: I don't know we should be driving with a curtain.
- 4:28Speaker 3: I shouldn't be driving doing a podcast either. This is
- 4:31Speaker 3: where we are.
- 4:32Speaker 1: This is where we are. That's fine, that's fine. I
- 4:36Speaker 1: think I think it's a good thing you're on the show, Dan,
- 4:38Speaker 1: because people are gonna start thinking that you joined Chad
- 4:41Speaker 1: in in my basement.
- 4:43Speaker 3: So I have to admit I did get a couple
- 4:46Speaker 3: of messages.
- 4:48Speaker 6: Oh hey, we're just looking for proof of life right
- 4:53Speaker 6: from listeners. So oh no, that's great that I'm back.
- 5:00Speaker 2: That Scott hasn't taken you. Yeah, yeah, yeah, fair enough.
- 5:06Speaker 3: I don't know, to be honest, I think i'd put
- 5:08Speaker 3: up a pretty good fight.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you were too, that I think. Yeah,
- 5:14Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think i'd want to mess with
- 5:16Speaker 1: Dad very he does cling on martial arts.
- 5:21Speaker 3: So that's true.
- 5:23Speaker 2: That is true, sense and all that.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Uh, what do we do it here? What's going on? Okay?
- 5:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess I should get into the Star Trek News.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Oh we have that too, Yeah, we have news.
- 5:38Speaker 2: We've got we've got a topic. It's crazy.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Okay, let's Star Trek News.
- 5:47Speaker 2: All rightmovie dot com and I don't know if you
- 5:56Speaker 2: guys saw the big announcement earlier this week, when Marvel
- 5:59Speaker 2: had the whole internet watching chairs for several hours, but
- 6:04Speaker 2: it was announced the a lot of the cast for
- 6:07Speaker 2: Avengers Doomsday, and apparently allegedly more will be revealed later.
- 6:12Speaker 2: This is just what they've done for now, but several
- 6:15Speaker 2: Star Trek alums will be in the cast, so it's
- 6:19Speaker 2: kind of exciting. We've got Rebecca Remain will be returning
- 6:24Speaker 2: in his Mystique. Patrick Stewart will be returning as Professor Xavier.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Well we say that, we don't they're coming back for sure.
- 6:33Speaker 2: We don't know for sure that they're playing those characters,
- 6:35Speaker 2: but I mean, come on right right, yeah, Kelsey Grammars
- 6:39Speaker 2: will be returning as well Beast and then Chris Hems
- 6:44Speaker 2: are a store. So that's your four star Trek.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Alarms and this is all for doomsday, right, this is
- 6:50Speaker 1: all for doomsday? Yes, okay, all right?
- 6:52Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 6:53Speaker 2: So yeah, so they had this big announcement where they
- 6:57Speaker 2: had chairs in every I think what a half hour
- 7:00Speaker 2: or so they we lost Dan. Yeah, we would shift
- 7:04Speaker 2: to a new chair and a new person. So because
- 7:11Speaker 2: of that though, I think we can now make our
- 7:15Speaker 2: special announcement. I think it's time. So we would like
- 7:21Speaker 2: to announce also, there.
- 7:24Speaker 1: We go Trek Cast, we are gonna be there.
- 7:29Speaker 2: We will be returning in Avengers Doomsday. Dan, I'm making
- 7:34Speaker 2: the big announcement that we will be an Avengers Doomsday. Yes,
- 7:38Speaker 2: so there's our chair. Oh we lost Dan again? Yeah,
- 7:44Speaker 2: the moreban one maybe uh oh, there he is, Yes,
- 7:48Speaker 2: he's back. Okay, I'm sorry.
- 7:51Speaker 3: I was making titans turn sometimes right, communication chips.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Shirt, Yeah, make their chairs all over the place. It
- 8:03Speaker 2: was pretty funny.
- 8:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:05Speaker 1: So so so trek Cast is gonna be in uh
- 8:07Speaker 1: in Doomsday. So this just turned from an epic movie
- 8:10Speaker 1: to a giant cluster. Right, that's right, that's right, which
- 8:14Speaker 1: is what I think Doomsday is gonna be. It's either
- 8:16Speaker 1: gonna be like epic or just a giant cluster.
- 8:20Speaker 2: It's gonna start like this show. Are we doing a movie? Now?
- 8:23Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 8:24Speaker 1: Right? Exactly? Yeah, I'm excited. I'll watch it. I will
- 8:32Speaker 1: watch it. So all the.
- 8:36Speaker 3: All the that are coming back. You think we're gonna
- 8:39Speaker 3: get everybody? You think we're gonna.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Get like.
- 8:45Speaker 2: There there's been a few that have been suspiciously absent.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Yeah, we're gonna get a lot of them. I think
- 8:53Speaker 1: what's gonna happen is we're gonna get the rest of
- 8:55Speaker 1: them too, except for like you know three and then
- 8:58Speaker 1: the whole movie. You're gonna be like, hey, where's you
- 9:00Speaker 1: know Spider Man? Or where is so and so?
- 9:03Speaker 2: Where's don Jeetle?
- 9:04Speaker 1: Yeah? Where don che?
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yeah? Maybe maybe yes, this Spider Man? You want to
- 9:14Speaker 2: see who.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Nicholas Hammond. You know who Nicholas Hammond is? No, oh
- 9:25Speaker 3: my god. You obviously never watched the live action O
- 9:30Speaker 3: seventies Spider Man.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I just didn't know his name.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Okay, okay, well I was just thrown out a deep cut.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Yeah I know, yeah, that was very deep cut.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, you're a nerd. It's okay, it's right.
- 9:45Speaker 2: And then uh vision they should have.
- 9:50Speaker 3: They should have like like C g I, Bill Bixby,
- 9:55Speaker 3: they should have the uh like all.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Those nineteen seventies TV movie Marvel characters Captain America like.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, we're the googy looking forward the unreleased
- 10:08Speaker 1: Fantastic Four.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Yes, them put them all in there, do it?
- 10:15Speaker 1: Yeah, just just like the Flash? Did I love that?
- 10:18Speaker 2: Right now? All of the uh, you know, the Insiders
- 10:22Speaker 2: or just making their wild theories, like there's one that
- 10:26Speaker 2: says that they're gonna bring in animated characters so you'll
- 10:29Speaker 2: see like the animated X Men, the animated Spider Man
- 10:33Speaker 2: from the nineties, that he'll pop up in either Secret
- 10:37Speaker 2: Wars or Doomsday. Like that's not happening. They're not gonna Yeah,
- 10:45Speaker 2: all right, Well, our next news story comes to us
- 10:49Speaker 2: from Collider also kind of sharing along with the whole
- 10:52Speaker 2: Marble thing. And they did an interview recently with Scott's
- 10:56Speaker 2: favorite actor. Yeah, and they asked him a little bit
- 11:01Speaker 2: about Starfleet Academy. Hold on a minute, Yeah, Scott.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Does like, Oh, I think he made a great Rhino.
- 11:13Speaker 2: He's the best Rhino.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Is the best live aack rhino. We've ever had.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Two?
- 11:17Speaker 2: There are two. He's the best one.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Who is the other one?
- 11:21Speaker 2: The other one was in Craven.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Oh that's why I haven't seen him.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Haven't seen that.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Yeah, well there's two rhinos.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Now, because I've seen every Marvel property except for Creave.
- 11:32Speaker 2: But same, we could we could have Rhino no way home.
- 11:36Speaker 1: That is the right. I even saw what was that
- 11:42Speaker 1: Spider Man A Jason female movie that came out last year. Yeah,
- 11:47Speaker 1: I even saw that in the theater.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Yeah, because of the show.
- 11:50Speaker 1: We reviewed it. Yeah, saw at the theater. I haven't
- 11:54Speaker 1: seen haven't seen the Craven.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not craving the Craven.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Yep. Absolutely Yeah. Okay, what's he do? What's he saying?
- 12:03Speaker 1: What's he doing? What cares?
- 12:05Speaker 2: Well? He's talking about being in Starfleet Academy. He says
- 12:08Speaker 2: that he takes great pleasure in playing the villain. He
- 12:10Speaker 2: really likes it, and uh, he's just relishing being the
- 12:15Speaker 2: bad guy. So huh oh, no, are we losing Dan?
- 12:23Speaker 1: What's that?
- 12:23Speaker 4: Dan?
- 12:25Speaker 3: Oh? I'm here?
- 12:27Speaker 1: Okay, what'd you say?
- 12:31Speaker 3: I didn't say anything?
- 12:32Speaker 1: Oh okay, okay, good, okay.
- 12:33Speaker 2: So Pulvin Jimoni loves playing the bad guy in Starfleet Academy.
- 12:37Speaker 2: They also asked him how this came to be, how
- 12:40Speaker 2: he he got to be in Star Trek, and he
- 12:44Speaker 2: said that, you know, he was asked what kind of
- 12:48Speaker 2: things you want to do, and he says, quote, gosh,
- 12:52Speaker 2: I love Star Trek, and uh, you know, he just
- 12:56Speaker 2: kind of put it out there and eventually he got
- 12:59Speaker 2: back to the right people and they had talks.
- 13:02Speaker 1: And.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Now he's gonna be in Starfleet Academy.
- 13:06Speaker 3: So that's that's how it used to be.
- 13:12Speaker 4: All Sorvino was on Team B because he liked Star
- 13:14Speaker 4: Trek and he told his agent, call some people, get
- 13:16Speaker 4: me on Star Trek.
- 13:17Speaker 3: I want to be on that show.
- 13:18Speaker 1: I like it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Tom Hanks wanted to be in Star Trek.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I would imagine Tom Hanks wanted to be in Star Trek.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Tom Hanks would be in Star Trek.
- 13:33Speaker 2: There's that one character in TNG that was written for
- 13:35Speaker 2: Robin Williams and then they couldn't get him for some reason,
- 13:39Speaker 2: like it was a scheduling conflict thing.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Like.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I forget the name of the character, but like if
- 13:47Speaker 2: you watch the episode, you can totally tell, like, oh, yeah,
- 13:50Speaker 2: that was supposed to be Robin Williams.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Okay, sounds like maybe like the most toys ish.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Kind of thing, or yeah, maybe the chat will we'll
- 13:59Speaker 2: let us know.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I was thinking.
- 14:03Speaker 3: The guy, the time traveler, guy who stole.
- 14:05Speaker 1: The time machine, oh Williams to me, Yeah.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Yeah, curling rescue. That guy.
- 14:16Speaker 1: I just remember him from Honey the Kids. Oh yeah,
- 14:21Speaker 1: he was the neighbor.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Yeah it's that guy. That the guy that from Honey
- 14:27Speaker 2: I Drink the Kids. Yeah, I found the picture of
- 14:34Speaker 2: the guy. Let's see. Okay whatever.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Yeah, he was doing some he was doing some heavy
- 14:44Speaker 1: flirting with doctor Crusher. Yeah this guy.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Yep, yeah, that was supposed to be Robin Williams. So okay,
- 14:54Speaker 2: all right, and then our last news story comes to
- 14:59Speaker 2: us from news Love how to bring that up? So
- 15:05Speaker 2: we're learning a little bit more about Starfleet Academy, So
- 15:08Speaker 2: maybe that's up next instead of Strange the Worlds. I
- 15:12Speaker 2: don't know for sure because they haven't announced it.
- 15:14Speaker 5: But.
- 15:17Speaker 2: In Newsweek they are saying that Starfleet Academy got a
- 15:21Speaker 2: pretty strange comparison. This is coming from an editor who
- 15:25Speaker 2: has been working on Starfleet Academy editing the shows, and
- 15:29Speaker 2: he has compared it to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, that
- 15:36Speaker 2: it's got some of that comedy in it. He says,
- 15:40Speaker 2: it's actually really really funny. He says the parts of
- 15:44Speaker 2: the kids are pretty funny as well, pretty sarcastic tone,
- 15:48Speaker 2: and he compared it a lot to Buffy. This guy
- 15:52Speaker 2: also did say in the interview, which I thought was
- 15:54Speaker 2: kind of funny. He says, the one thing that's missing
- 15:56Speaker 2: from Star Trek is the fact that you can't put
- 15:58Speaker 2: contemporary music into it it because it doesn't fit the
- 16:02Speaker 2: show right. But if you could drop he says this
- 16:06Speaker 2: in the art let me let me find the Star
- 16:08Speaker 2: Trek beyond. Yeah, let me find the quote because it's hilarious.
- 16:12Speaker 2: He goes, Uh, my one issue with Star Trek is
- 16:15Speaker 2: that it's always takes place so far in the future.
- 16:17Speaker 2: You don't have a conventional or contemporary music. You can't
- 16:22Speaker 2: put a kick ass hip hop or K pop or
- 16:25Speaker 2: whatever it is. It just doesn't belong. Yeah, so.
- 16:33Speaker 1: There's that, right. Okay. You know, I've never seen Buffy
- 16:39Speaker 1: the Vampire Vampire Slayer. I probably saw the original movie,
- 16:42Speaker 1: but I never saw the series. But the person who
- 16:44Speaker 1: created Buffy the Vampire Slayer the series also created uh,
- 16:48Speaker 1: Firefly and the Avengers. And the Avengers not jos Joss Whedon. Now,
- 16:53Speaker 1: if it has a Firefly tone in any way, shape
- 16:57Speaker 1: or form, I'm down.
- 16:58Speaker 2: If it's got that kind of he does, so, yeah,
- 17:01Speaker 2: it's similar to that.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Okay, So if he does that kind of the showrunners
- 17:05Speaker 1: do that kind of tone, then yeah, okay, yeah, I
- 17:08Speaker 1: watch it. I mean I'm gonna watch it, right, I'm
- 17:12Speaker 1: gonna even if it's bad, I'm still gonna watch it.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Dance on the fence about watching it.
- 17:17Speaker 3: I'm gonna watch it. For this show, that's right. For
- 17:20Speaker 3: this podcast, it's right.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Imagine people have the same attitude about this podcast, like
- 17:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna watch it even if it's bad, I'm still
- 17:26Speaker 1: gonna listen and we thank you.
- 17:31Speaker 2: So yeah, so that's Oh, there's also another news story
- 17:34Speaker 2: going around. It's not really a new story. It's just
- 17:36Speaker 2: a rumor. But uh, there are people straying that, uh,
- 17:45Speaker 2: Paramount is gonna shift away from Woke in order to
- 17:49Speaker 2: get the the merger approved with sky Dance.
- 17:54Speaker 1: So wait, I thought we were going away from sky Dance.
- 17:57Speaker 1: It's not. Somebody else offered him like four billion dollar
- 18:00Speaker 1: there's more.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Yeah, somebody else did, and there's a whole lawsuit to
- 18:04Speaker 2: prove that they really have the money. That's another thing.
- 18:06Speaker 2: It's just people are making up rumors at this point.
- 18:10Speaker 2: They're they're saying that, hey, so they're gonna they're gonna
- 18:14Speaker 2: shift away from these things that star trek Uh. Stranger
- 18:18Speaker 2: Worlds is currently being reshot to remove all all those elements.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Out of it. So but they're not.
- 18:26Speaker 2: They're shooting season four right now, like it's right. And
- 18:30Speaker 2: then in the in the in the rumor it's that
- 18:33Speaker 2: Alex Kirtzman will be removed by Christmas time in order
- 18:36Speaker 2: to align themselves with removing those kinds of ideologies out
- 18:40Speaker 2: of it.
- 18:41Speaker 4: You know, when you're when you're announcing that you're gonna
- 18:43Speaker 4: shi cant somebody, Yeah, you don't announce that you're gonna
- 18:47Speaker 4: shifcant somebody eight months from.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Now exactly exactly.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Yeah. Get I don't necessarily disagree with getting rid of
- 18:55Speaker 1: Alex Kirksman.
- 18:56Speaker 2: But yeah, yeah, yeah, I know a munch people.
- 19:00Speaker 4: You don't call a guy and you say, listen, eight
- 19:04Speaker 4: months from now, the third Tuesday in December, you're at.
- 19:07Speaker 2: It here, that's right, that's right.
- 19:09Speaker 1: But from now until then we expect your best work.
- 19:12Speaker 2: That's right, that's right.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Yeah. You're not going to ruin this franchise, are you?
- 19:17Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 19:18Speaker 1: No, you're not.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Yeah. So if you guys see that rumor laying around,
- 19:23Speaker 2: massive drain of salt, it's probably not happening. I mean,
- 19:26Speaker 2: look at just it's ridiculous how it falls apart the minute,
- 19:29Speaker 2: any logic to it. So I just thought I should
- 19:32Speaker 2: mention that because people are spreading that.
- 19:34Speaker 1: So okay, yeah, but so who owns Paramount again? Now right?
- 19:40Speaker 2: Paramount owns themselves for now?
- 19:43Speaker 1: For now? Did we ever put our bid in? Did
- 19:46Speaker 1: you check our coffee account? Do we ever put our
- 19:48Speaker 1: bid in for Paramount?
- 19:49Speaker 2: I have not yet, yeah, because I don't want to
- 19:55Speaker 2: just you know, throw it in out, you know, surprise.
- 19:58Speaker 3: Yes, make our strongest, the strongest bit.
- 20:01Speaker 2: That's right here.
- 20:02Speaker 1: You gotta pick your time, gotcha. I'm gonna mention.
- 20:05Speaker 4: I'm gonna mention sky Dance again in a few minutes,
- 20:07Speaker 4: but I'm gonna wait until we start the main topic.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, let's get let's get to the main topic.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Okay.
- 20:15Speaker 5: Finn will now comment.
- 20:24Speaker 2: The final of the Kelvin films, at least the final
- 20:27Speaker 2: for now. That's right, Star Trek Beyond, Star Trek Beyond.
- 20:31Speaker 2: That's right. Whether or not we get a fourth one,
- 20:34Speaker 2: who's to say.
- 20:36Speaker 3: So, I have seen this movie.
- 20:40Speaker 4: I'll tell you how many times I've seen this. I
- 20:42Speaker 4: have seen this movie one point four times.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Oh so you watched half of it yesterday.
- 20:52Speaker 3: I watched almost half of it. I watched this movie.
- 20:58Speaker 4: Once when it came out, what was yeah, ago, nine
- 21:01Speaker 4: years ago whatever, Yeah, years ago. And I tried to
- 21:08Speaker 4: watch it again yesterday.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and I just I'm sorry.
- 21:12Speaker 4: I couldn't get I couldn't get through it. It just
- 21:14Speaker 4: did not hold my my interest. And yeah, so halfway
- 21:20Speaker 4: through the review I might bow out.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Okay, but that might because your mobile too.
- 21:28Speaker 3: But one, uh, one of the things that that struck me.
- 21:31Speaker 4: You know, you watch a movie right at the beginning
- 21:33Speaker 4: of the movie that the theme starts, and if it's
- 21:36Speaker 4: a twentieth century Fox movie, you'll see the twentieth centric
- 21:40Speaker 4: Fox logo.
- 21:41Speaker 3: And then in association with Lucasfilm.
- 21:45Speaker 1: And you see Lucas Film.
- 21:46Speaker 4: Look, okay, so this movie started last night. Yeah, and
- 21:52Speaker 4: those title cards they.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Were like fifteen yeah of films and yeah, yeah studio.
- 22:04Speaker 4: So there was Paramount, Ali Baba, Strange Robot, Sun Dance
- 22:10Speaker 4: and that's that's all I can remember. Yeah, sorry, sky Dance.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it might be Strange Dance by the time we're
- 22:17Speaker 2: over exactly.
- 22:21Speaker 4: It's like it's like those things where you see, like, oh,
- 22:25Speaker 4: Beyonce had a hit song. You look at the producers
- 22:29Speaker 4: and there's like seventeen on the song. There.
- 22:32Speaker 2: There's a common trick in filmmaking where you create a
- 22:37Speaker 2: film company specifically for that one movie. And that's why
- 22:41Speaker 2: like you'll see like in association with like Paramount and
- 22:45Speaker 2: Fox New and Fox Studios and you know, Trevor's Film
- 22:51Speaker 2: Studio or whatever it is, right, and then the idea is,
- 22:53Speaker 2: if it's a bomb, then you put all the losses
- 22:57Speaker 2: onto that newly made corporation and just write it off there.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Oh, for the taxes. Yeah.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's why they do that.
- 23:07Speaker 1: So yeah, well it's dumb, yeah, and I don't like it,
- 23:14Speaker 1: that's right.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Yeah. So this movie came out in twenty sixteen, and
- 23:20Speaker 2: it was directed by Justin Lynn from The Fast and
- 23:24Speaker 2: the Furious, which was kind of interesting.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Yeah, Justin lindsay. He's a big Star Trek fan, right
- 23:34Speaker 1: as far as we know. So yeah, I watched, I
- 23:37Speaker 1: watched most of the special features. I watched the movie
- 23:40Speaker 1: last night, and I watched most of the special features. So,
- 23:44Speaker 1: you know, they they explained why JJ Abrams wanted to
- 23:48Speaker 1: remove himself as director. They wanted, you know, to get
- 23:51Speaker 1: a bit different flavor for this movie, so they brought
- 23:54Speaker 1: in Justin Lynn, and they brought in Simon peg Co
- 23:58Speaker 1: wrote the movie right line.
- 24:01Speaker 2: So I read some reviews. I read the Roger Eber
- 24:07Speaker 2: review about it, and basically he said that it felt
- 24:10Speaker 2: like a Giant Episode in the best possible way, which
- 24:14Speaker 2: kind of I mean, it does feel like a giant episode.
- 24:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Yeah. The rot Tomatoes score not even for critics and
- 24:24Speaker 2: regular people. Eighty six percent for critics, eighty percent for fans,
- 24:29Speaker 2: so they're in line, roughly.
- 24:33Speaker 1: I like the movie, Yeah, Yeah, I like the movie.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Uh I you know, I I I remember watching it
- 24:43Speaker 1: in the theaters. I remember, you know, I've seen it
- 24:47Speaker 1: not as many times as I've seen the two thousand
- 24:50Speaker 1: and nine Star Trek, right, but I definitely enjoyed it
- 24:54Speaker 1: more than the twenty twelve Star Trek to the Search
- 24:59Speaker 1: for Regurgitation of Spock and Kirk and all that. So
- 25:04Speaker 1: I I thought this was a fitting end of a trilogy,
- 25:08Speaker 1: and it was really a fitting end for their story. Yeah,
- 25:12Speaker 1: which is why every time we've always brought up Star
- 25:14Speaker 1: Trek or Star Trek or Star Trekt br, I've always
- 25:16Speaker 1: been like, no, we don't need it. You know, we
- 25:19Speaker 1: don't need you know, we don't need the pulp fiction
- 25:22Speaker 1: to come in and direct Star Trek boor we don't
- 25:25Speaker 1: you know, Quentin Tarantino, We don't need any of that.
- 25:28Speaker 1: I thought that the Calvin Timeline story has been done.
- 25:32Speaker 1: I enjoyed it. Let's move on.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it does feel like a good ender. The way
- 25:39Speaker 2: the way it ends, we should probably get a little
- 25:42Speaker 2: bit into the the story. So basically, it starts out
- 25:47Speaker 2: they are helping negotiate a piece treaty between two different factions,
- 25:53Speaker 2: two different species, and Kirk goes to hand one of
- 25:59Speaker 2: the groups like a gift, and it ends up that
- 26:05Speaker 2: they don't want it. They are suspicious of it. The
- 26:10Speaker 2: faction I forget their names, and so because they don't
- 26:15Speaker 2: want it, it becomes a whole big problem, and so
- 26:20Speaker 2: they start attacking Kirk. It ends up the guys are
- 26:22Speaker 2: just very tiny, but still there's a lot of them,
- 26:25Speaker 2: and uh, Kirk is able to escape. They're adorable and
- 26:30Speaker 2: they don't wear pants.
- 26:32Speaker 1: One of them a member of Starfleet. Yes, one of
- 26:35Speaker 1: their species is a member of Starfleet.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Yes.
- 26:38Speaker 1: They're about the size of a medium sized dog.
- 26:40Speaker 2: That's right, that's right.
- 26:42Speaker 1: And so.
- 26:44Speaker 2: They, you know, they they take that little device, a
- 26:47Speaker 2: little what was supposed to be a gift, and Kirk
- 26:50Speaker 2: tells spot, hey, just cataloged this and put it away.
- 26:53Speaker 2: We don't we don't need it after all, and it
- 26:56Speaker 2: was supposed to be. They say in the beginning, I.
- 26:59Speaker 4: Think it's exact words, were catalog this pilot under him
- 27:03Speaker 4: for mcguffin.
- 27:04Speaker 2: That's right, that's right, yes, yeah, Jesus even says the
- 27:08Speaker 2: mcguffin device, Yes, yes, uh. They even say in the
- 27:11Speaker 2: beginning it's part of an old weapon. And so there
- 27:16Speaker 2: you go.
- 27:17Speaker 7: Uh.
- 27:18Speaker 2: And then from there we go visit the was it
- 27:21Speaker 2: the Yorktown Station, yes, yeah, which is described as a
- 27:28Speaker 2: snow globe in space or something like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 27:31Speaker 2: and the.
- 27:32Speaker 4: Crew goes on surely I think Sulu meets up with
- 27:36Speaker 4: his brother and his niece and go off, have bunch
- 27:39Speaker 4: together and.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Uh yeah yeah yeah, and everybody sees their their loved
- 27:46Speaker 2: ones except for Kirk, and and Kirk is basically going
- 27:50Speaker 2: uh is going there not to quit, but he wants
- 27:53Speaker 2: to get a promotion because he's done with traveling in space.
- 27:57Speaker 2: He wants a dust job.
- 27:59Speaker 1: He's just tired of it, right.
- 28:01Speaker 2: So okay, and he applies for it, and it sounds
- 28:06Speaker 2: like he might be getting it, but you know, they
- 28:10Speaker 2: they the admiral or whoever it is that he's talking to, says,
- 28:13Speaker 2: you know, I think about this before you do it, Admiral.
- 28:17Speaker 3: I think her name was Admirl Camel nonfiltered.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Yes, yes, I just remember her from from twenty four.
- 28:26Speaker 2: She was in that show twenty four as well.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think she was also she's been in
- 28:31Speaker 1: a couple of sci fi things, but yeah.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, And then from there we also get when
- 28:39Speaker 2: that Spock is looking to get away from Starfleet as well.
- 28:45Speaker 2: He gets worried that that original recipe Spock is dead,
- 28:49Speaker 2: and so he wants to go and be with the
- 28:52Speaker 2: other Vulcans.
- 28:54Speaker 1: And yes, it wants to make little Spock babies.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Little Spock babies. He feels like that's that's the logical
- 29:01Speaker 2: thing to do. And so him and Kirk are in
- 29:05Speaker 2: the turbo lift together. They're they're preparing for you know,
- 29:09Speaker 2: now that the the shore leaves about wrapping up, they're
- 29:12Speaker 2: gonna go back out again because they're on the five
- 29:14Speaker 2: year mission just to explore and and so from there
- 29:20Speaker 2: they both say, hey, I need to tell you something,
- 29:22Speaker 2: but we'll do it later. And then we get a
- 29:25Speaker 2: a all important emergency alert and somebody is approaching the
- 29:31Speaker 2: Yorktown station and she claims to be in danger and
- 29:36Speaker 2: they help her out and there's a big fight and
- 29:40Speaker 2: they helped this lady and it ends up it is
- 29:43Speaker 2: a trap. They go they go with this this I
- 29:48Speaker 2: don't know what her name was. I never caught the
- 29:50Speaker 2: character's name, but uh, they go with her back to
- 29:54Speaker 2: the s Nebula, where she says her crew is stranded,
- 29:57Speaker 2: she needs some help and that that's when the Enterprise
- 30:01Speaker 2: is attacked.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Yeah, Klara, Clara, Okay.
- 30:05Speaker 2: So they are attacked. They call them bees like these
- 30:10Speaker 2: the swarm of like fighter plane jets what I don't know.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Ships. Yeah, they're old mining ships.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, they really don't like miners in this series,
- 30:21Speaker 2: do they?
- 30:22Speaker 1: No, not at all?
- 30:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so uh so Yeah, so they're attacked and
- 30:31Speaker 2: it ends up that eed you Soba is very I
- 30:33Speaker 2: agree with with Starfleet?
- 30:35Speaker 1: Yes, very much, so, very much so.
- 30:38Speaker 3: And so it's I forgot he's in this. I didn't
- 30:42Speaker 3: get that far.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Yeah, he's.
- 30:46Speaker 2: In all the makeup, but that's him. Which is it me?
- 30:54Speaker 3: Or did they look just like the krill from the Orville?
- 30:59Speaker 1: That? Yeah, that was meant should actually and I on
- 31:01Speaker 1: IMDb and a few people mentioned that online. Is that?
- 31:03Speaker 1: Yeah they look that's hat. That has to be where
- 31:07Speaker 1: they got the crow from. Yeah. Yeah.
- 31:11Speaker 2: So from there they're attacked. The Enterprise is basically destroyed.
- 31:17Speaker 2: It crash lands on a planet, but in pieces, so
- 31:20Speaker 2: the crew is scattered. At this point, we have very
- 31:23Speaker 2: much an Empire strikes back, where we have little groups
- 31:26Speaker 2: and each group has a certain directive that they need
- 31:29Speaker 2: to do before they all gather back together for the
- 31:31Speaker 2: big fight. We've got Bones and Spock together, We've got
- 31:37Speaker 2: Scotty and our new character Jayla are working together. We
- 31:46Speaker 2: were Eventually they meet up with Kirk Kirk and uh
- 31:51Speaker 2: check off Aur together and then the rest of the
- 31:53Speaker 2: crew has been kidnapped in prisoned. So you've got Laura
- 31:59Speaker 2: and Loo kidnapped and uh so they need to save them.
- 32:06Speaker 2: From there, we we find out that there is an
- 32:09Speaker 2: old Federation ship, the Franklin, has crash landed on this
- 32:13Speaker 2: planet years earlier. It had been a ship that had
- 32:16Speaker 2: been missing for quite some time. And uh, it ends
- 32:20Speaker 2: up Jayla is living in the ship. That's how she
- 32:23Speaker 2: knows English and is able to communicate with the other
- 32:26Speaker 2: Federation officers. And she's using like a network of of
- 32:31Speaker 2: holograms or what I forget what they called it. They
- 32:34Speaker 2: didn't say it was holograms, but they had a different
- 32:36Speaker 2: name for it.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Yeah it was Uh, I forgot what it was called too,
- 32:40Speaker 1: but it was like, yeah, yeah.
- 32:44Speaker 2: It's holograms though. And uh So from there they go
- 32:48Speaker 2: fight the new bad guy Eater Selba, and uh they're
- 32:54Speaker 2: able to take the old ship and go back to
- 32:56Speaker 2: the York Town because the Swarm is going to attack,
- 33:02Speaker 2: and they have now the device, the Ancient Weapon, and
- 33:07Speaker 2: it ends up the Ancient Weapon is like just a
- 33:09Speaker 2: really angry cloud.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Yeah it's uh, it's the dark thing from thor Dark World. Yeah,
- 33:20Speaker 1: it's the Ether. Yeah, yeah, it's one of it's angry
- 33:24Speaker 1: if Infinity Stone.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Yeah, it's angry Infinity Stone. And so the York Down
- 33:28Speaker 2: is gonna it's gonna be destroyed by the Infinity Stone.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Okay, So Kirk's got to stop him.
- 33:34Speaker 2: And so he goes and FTEs in an air duct,
- 33:38Speaker 2: which that's what that is.
- 33:39Speaker 1: It's a giant, giant, giant clear air duct. They're either
- 33:45Speaker 1: going to die by the ether. They're going to die
- 33:47Speaker 1: by the air duct. Fans, that's right, because that's how
- 33:50Speaker 1: space stations work.
- 33:51Speaker 2: That's how it works. And uh and he wins, Kirk wins.
- 33:57Speaker 2: They stop.
- 33:59Speaker 1: And and there we go.
- 34:00Speaker 2: We're all happy. They do this big thing at the
- 34:04Speaker 2: end where the crew is kind of like celebrating that
- 34:07Speaker 2: they won. They're they're saying goodbye to those who lost
- 34:11Speaker 2: their lives in in in the battle. So they're saying
- 34:14Speaker 2: goodbye to old friends, which is kind of poignant because
- 34:17Speaker 2: we have antony Elschen there, Yes, and so that sing
- 34:23Speaker 2: that scene rings a little bit different now in hindsight.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Yep, yeah, it was. Actually they did a little bit
- 34:29Speaker 1: of an edit on that scene before it was released,
- 34:34Speaker 1: where you have a you have a shot of Kirk
- 34:38Speaker 1: kind of raising his glass and they kind of redid
- 34:41Speaker 1: it so that they panned back over to the group
- 34:44Speaker 1: and center on frame was check off.
- 34:49Speaker 2: So did they mentioned that in the behind the scenes or.
- 34:52Speaker 1: It's something I think it's something I read. Yeah, they
- 34:54Speaker 1: did mention it behind the scenes. It's online too, so
- 34:58Speaker 1: and then at the credits, uh, they talk about in
- 35:02Speaker 1: memory of Leonard Nimoy and then for anton.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Yeah, so yeah, because he passed away just before this
- 35:09Speaker 2: was released.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Yeah, leonardymore passed away before it was made, and Antonio
- 35:14Speaker 1: Elsin passed away just before we released.
- 35:20Speaker 2: So yeah, so that was basically the movie.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Yeah, let's go over a couple of things. Uh Dan
- 35:30Speaker 1: mentioned early that Sulu was with his uh his brother,
- 35:37Speaker 1: which he knows damn well that uh see online. They
- 35:40Speaker 1: talk about this in the in the special features, they
- 35:42Speaker 1: talk about this, and there's a lot of controversy around this.
- 35:45Speaker 1: So let's let's dive into this subject. A little bit
- 35:49Speaker 1: in the in the film, they decided to make Sulu
- 35:53Speaker 1: a gay character. Yeah, they they talked about it in
- 35:57Speaker 1: the special features and they they just wanted to, you know,
- 36:03Speaker 1: they just wanted to make one of the main characters gay.
- 36:05Speaker 1: They didn't want that fact to be part of the storyline.
- 36:08Speaker 1: They just wanted it to be there, just just a
- 36:12Speaker 1: thing that happens, and it has nothing to do with
- 36:14Speaker 1: like the character, you know, or the storyline itself.
- 36:17Speaker 2: And interesting to a tribute for.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the interesting thing.
- 36:23Speaker 5: Uh.
- 36:23Speaker 1: So I did a little research. It turns out that
- 36:26Speaker 1: George de Kay wasn't for them. He didn't agree with
- 36:31Speaker 1: it because you know, George de Kay is gay, uh
- 36:35Speaker 1: and they thought it would be a cool tribute to him.
- 36:38Speaker 1: He didn't. He wasn't part of it. He didn't like
- 36:39Speaker 1: it because he said the character is not gay, and
- 36:43Speaker 1: and they showed him the original series. He was very
- 36:46Speaker 1: much about the ladies, and he said he didn't want
- 36:50Speaker 1: He didn't think they should have taken it in this
- 36:52Speaker 1: direction for Sulu. But we do see that the the
- 36:58Speaker 1: girl that that they have a lot of people are
- 37:01Speaker 1: speculating that's Demora from Star Trek Generations. The helmsman of
- 37:06Speaker 1: the Enterprise b and you know, and that track. So
- 37:11Speaker 1: you know, I understand why they did.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I understand too. The thing I read said too
- 37:15Speaker 2: that basically they shot it and it was so far
- 37:20Speaker 2: into editing, like it was about to be released, and
- 37:23Speaker 2: so they let George de k know what was going
- 37:24Speaker 2: to happen, and he's like, yeah, I know. And at
- 37:28Speaker 2: that point it's too late because they already shot.
- 37:30Speaker 1: It right right, and there was you know, there's there's
- 37:36Speaker 1: really nothing. They embrace the family, and so I guess
- 37:41Speaker 1: your head cannon can be whatever it is. I mean,
- 37:43Speaker 1: I certainly don't care what the sexual orientation of any
- 37:46Speaker 1: of these characters are. I would like the storyline to know,
- 37:51Speaker 1: you miss it kind of thing, too, right. I'd like consistency, Yeah,
- 37:55Speaker 1: I mean, I honestly don't care what. You know, if
- 37:58Speaker 1: they made Kirk kay all of a sudden that I'd
- 38:00Speaker 1: have an issue with that. Not because I have an
- 38:02Speaker 1: issue with Kirk being gay. I have an issue with
- 38:05Speaker 1: the past fifty sixty years of him, you know, Mac
- 38:09Speaker 1: and on some green alien that's right, Yeah, whatever, I
- 38:15Speaker 1: just want story consistency. I don't care about the rest,
- 38:18Speaker 1: none of it. Matters to me, just except for a
- 38:21Speaker 1: story consistency.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Yeah, Enterprise being gone that was a big, a big
- 38:30Speaker 1: one too. In the third movie, we lose the Enterprise
- 38:34Speaker 1: NCC one seven oh one, No bloody A, B, C
- 38:36Speaker 1: or D right, right. What do you guys think of
- 38:39Speaker 1: the destruction sequence sequence? It was very reminiscent of Generations.
- 38:46Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I mean it got torn to shreds man. Yeah, yeah, I.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Thought it was cool.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:54Speaker 1: When they said go for the throat, why didn't.
- 38:57Speaker 3: They have Why didn't they have shields? Was the situation.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Their plot armor? Uh disintegrated? Ye, got it, you're right, thanks, right, Yeah,
- 39:09Speaker 1: when Spock says, we are not equipped for this manner
- 39:12Speaker 1: of engagement, Oh so, why doesn't all the enemies of
- 39:16Speaker 1: the Federation equip themselves for that manner of engaging?
- 39:19Speaker 2: Exactly?
- 39:21Speaker 1: You know, if tiny little ships will do it. Yeah,
- 39:24Speaker 1: those tiny little ships should have had they did it.
- 39:26Speaker 1: There was one throwaway line where they said the shield
- 39:29Speaker 1: frequencies are having no effect, but they didn't explain why.
- 39:35Speaker 3: Here's the thing I get.
- 39:36Speaker 4: I get annoyed when they establish certain things and then
- 39:39Speaker 4: they ignore it. One of the first things, one of
- 39:43Speaker 4: the first things that the attack did was destroy.
- 39:46Speaker 1: The deflector array, right right, and then they wanted to
- 39:50Speaker 1: go to Wark.
- 39:51Speaker 4: Okay, whether they want to go to Warp, whether they
- 39:53Speaker 4: want to go to Impulse, it doesn't matter. The whole
- 39:56Speaker 4: idea that the deflector array is that it moves space
- 40:00Speaker 4: debris out of the way, get torn to shreds as
- 40:04Speaker 4: it moves.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Yeah. Right, they would have to get us out of here.
- 40:09Speaker 3: I'm like, they can't get you out of here.
- 40:10Speaker 1: They just destroyed the deflector array.
- 40:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:13Speaker 2: I I think they mentioned very early on that there's
- 40:17Speaker 2: like a signal and it's jamming their communication frequencies and
- 40:21Speaker 2: messing with the with the shields.
- 40:24Speaker 1: All they did talk about, okay, mess with the shield too.
- 40:27Speaker 2: So I think that's what it is.
- 40:28Speaker 3: Only one, only one man would give me the raspberry.
- 40:32Speaker 2: That's right, they got jammed.
- 40:36Speaker 1: I mean, is it just common knowledge? I mean their
- 40:38Speaker 1: their shields are operating at a frequency of two five
- 40:40Speaker 1: seven point four. I mean seven was the shield frequency
- 40:46Speaker 1: that the Enterprise D was operating at when they were destroyed,
- 40:49Speaker 1: when it was destroyed by the Klingon Bird of Prey.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Well would know, right because he was part of ser
- 40:53Speaker 2: Fleet and ends up Yeah, which that means they had
- 40:57Speaker 2: the same shield harmonics for like one hundred years or whatever.
- 41:00Speaker 1: I don't know, but Dagriham's theering. But I do know
- 41:03Speaker 1: that the Enterprise d shield frequency was two five seven
- 41:06Speaker 1: point four gigakurts.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Amazing.
- 41:12Speaker 1: And if that doesn't deserve a DIRD alert, I don't
- 41:14Speaker 1: know what does it?
- 41:15Speaker 2: Does it does? Let me let me get that warning
- 41:18Speaker 2: warning one bird alert.
- 41:20Speaker 1: NERD alert, Yes, thank you, thank you. So early on
- 41:31Speaker 1: in the film we find out, well we don't find out,
- 41:34Speaker 1: but Spot gets the news, uh that Spock Prime has
- 41:39Speaker 1: passed away. And of course, uh, you know the reason
- 41:43Speaker 1: that Spot, the Spot Prime wasn't in this baskedback wasn't
- 41:47Speaker 1: in this is because Leonard Nimoy passed away in twenty fifteen.
- 41:52Speaker 1: This was uh when we when we found out, this
- 41:55Speaker 1: was emotional, uh, at least for me. I mean it
- 41:59Speaker 1: brought a real to the to the show, to the movie.
- 42:02Speaker 1: You know, Stock was gone and he had that that photo.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Of the whole crew at the end, yeah, the TS crew.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Yeah yeah. So and this is another reason why I
- 42:13Speaker 1: think they brought the series, the franchise, the Calvin Universe
- 42:17Speaker 1: to a close in this one I don't think there
- 42:19Speaker 1: is any more stories to be told. But the admiral
- 42:22Speaker 1: that you talked about in the beginning, the name was
- 42:24Speaker 1: Admiral Paris. That's right, yes, m yeah, Tom's so they're
- 42:31Speaker 1: thinking that it was obviously a nod to a voyager
- 42:34Speaker 1: and possibly an ancestor of Thomas Eugene Paris and Admiral Parris.
- 42:40Speaker 2: We lost an unfortunately.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, come back in whenever you get a chance.
- 42:47Speaker 1: I one thing I want to talk about too is
- 42:50Speaker 1: the USS Franklin. I it took me this seventeenth watch
- 42:55Speaker 1: to truly understand what time period this sh comes from,
- 43:01Speaker 1: and I finally have a grasp at what it was.
- 43:04Speaker 1: And so it was it was NX three something like
- 43:09Speaker 1: three sixty five or whatever it was. Uh. So it
- 43:13Speaker 1: was a ship that was well beyond the Enterprise from
- 43:17Speaker 1: Star Trek Enterprise. But it was a warp for ship. Yeah,
- 43:22Speaker 1: And the reason was it was just an older ship.
- 43:25Speaker 1: It was an older ship. Uh it Uh but uh,
- 43:29Speaker 1: our our krill friend was from past the time period
- 43:36Speaker 1: of uh Star Trek Enterprise because they mentioned that he
- 43:39Speaker 1: did he mentions that he was involved in the Romulin Wars, right, Okay,
- 43:43Speaker 1: so he mentioned the Zindi, he mentioned the Romulin wars.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Uh he was a makouh and and they they dissolved
- 43:51Speaker 1: the Makos and they basically gave him a starfleet commission.
- 43:54Speaker 1: They gave him this older War four capable ship and
- 43:58Speaker 1: said here you go. And he was thought about that.
- 44:00Speaker 1: So that's where that ship comes from. That ship is
- 44:04Speaker 1: an older UH design ship, but it's his time period
- 44:11Speaker 1: is after Archer's Enterprise era, right, right, So I think you.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Could have done something with that too, though, because he
- 44:21Speaker 2: mentions about, you know, he was a he was a
- 44:26Speaker 2: wartime guy, and how are you supposed to make peace
- 44:30Speaker 2: when when we're already passed, you know, right, when we've
- 44:34Speaker 2: had so much fighting. I think you could have done
- 44:37Speaker 2: something where you bring in a Romulin crew member at
- 44:41Speaker 2: the beginning, because you had the first movie where they
- 44:45Speaker 2: were fighting the Romulins, right, so you could have brought
- 44:49Speaker 2: that in. You could have been like, nobody trusts her.
- 44:52Speaker 2: Then then they get attacked. Everyone looks at her or
- 44:55Speaker 2: him whoever whatever you pick, right, and and so now
- 44:59Speaker 2: that everyone's just against that that crew member, right, they're
- 45:04Speaker 2: they're the red herring. They're the one we all think
- 45:06Speaker 2: has has betrayed us.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Yeah, and then it's like, you.
- 45:12Speaker 2: Know that that character is really the one who's trying
- 45:14Speaker 2: to out maybe they're the one who saved the mcguffin
- 45:17Speaker 2: something along those lines. Kirk realizes, no, we can't make friends,
- 45:21Speaker 2: and so that's your arc.
- 45:23Speaker 1: But I know, okay, no, you're absolutely right. Can we
- 45:27Speaker 1: talk about the mcguffin device for a second. I never
- 45:30Speaker 1: understood what was there if there was a connection between
- 45:36Speaker 1: those little dog species and the krill like species, Like,
- 45:44Speaker 1: was it just a coincidence that.
- 45:45Speaker 2: It was just a coincidence?
- 45:47Speaker 1: It was just a coincidence, Okay, okay, is there a
- 45:50Speaker 1: connection between the species that was that Kirk was trying
- 45:54Speaker 1: to be a mediator or and this dog like species?
- 45:59Speaker 1: What were those species? Do we know they're not connected?
- 46:02Speaker 1: It's not the same specieses Okay. I was just confused, like, yeah,
- 46:05Speaker 1: here's just a coincidence. Okay, all right, moving on, Yeah,
- 46:09Speaker 1: I guess, I guess. Yeah. A lot of people online
- 46:15Speaker 1: and IMDb uh noticed that the internal schematics for the
- 46:22Speaker 1: Yorktown looked suspiciously like the Death Star, so a lot
- 46:30Speaker 1: of people were drawing parallels on that.
- 46:34Speaker 3: But yeah, and that's that's from a different start.
- 46:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's that's from a different star trek.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that's from the one with the whales, right right,
- 46:43Speaker 2: exactly the whales to destroy the dead star.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly exactly.
- 46:48Speaker 2: Throw the whales through the little port and that's what
- 46:51Speaker 2: blows it up.
- 46:52Speaker 1: It's right right, and they're being chased by the cylons and.
- 46:56Speaker 2: Now that's right, they're being chased with the cylons. Yeah,
- 46:59Speaker 2: because he just wants to go home.
- 47:02Speaker 4: We you know, we got three of these movies, and
- 47:05Speaker 4: we got two seasons of Strange New Worlds, which takes
- 47:10Speaker 4: place in kind of ish the same time frame in
- 47:14Speaker 4: different timelines, So there are some duplication of of of
- 47:20Speaker 4: characters and sis. Yeah, specifically one I'm I'm gonna ask
- 47:25Speaker 4: you about. So this is this is a tough one.
- 47:30Speaker 4: I want to know where you stand, Zachary Quinto or
- 47:35Speaker 4: Ethan Peck.
- 47:38Speaker 2: Oh you know, I feel like, having now recently seen
- 47:46Speaker 2: all three of the films and then you know, Strange
- 47:49Speaker 2: the World is still pretty fresh in my mind. I
- 47:51Speaker 2: think I enjoy Ethan's portrayal a little bit better. I
- 47:57Speaker 2: agree with you, Yeah, I really do.
- 48:00Speaker 1: I think Eden's portrayal is more like Leonard Nimoy. His
- 48:05Speaker 1: Spock is more like Leonard Nimoy's spot. Yeah, you know,
- 48:11Speaker 1: this is what's rolling around in my head. I think,
- 48:14Speaker 1: I think Zachary Quinto, this is a kind of counter intuitive.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Zachary Quinto brings more emotion, yes, the Spock, which again
- 48:27Speaker 1: he's he's portrayed Spock an emotionless character supposedly, and I
- 48:34Speaker 1: don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
- 48:36Speaker 1: He lets his emotions show through a little bit in
- 48:38Speaker 1: this movie. He actually smiles in relief, like he's like, ah,
- 48:42Speaker 1: you know whatever he's he's it's a legitimate smile, which
- 48:47Speaker 1: you know, I Valcans have emotions, they just use their
- 48:52Speaker 1: mental disciplines to suppress them. So when you're in physical
- 48:55Speaker 1: agony for hours on end, I can understand that some
- 48:57Speaker 1: of those walls might come down. But you know, I
- 49:01Speaker 1: do like that. I do like both of their performances.
- 49:05Speaker 1: I I think that ethan Pex is a little bit
- 49:09Speaker 1: closer to the original Spock. So yeah, yeah, you know.
- 49:20Speaker 2: The the other thing we didn't mention is, oh, go ahead,
- 49:24Speaker 2: go ahead with that.
- 49:25Speaker 1: I'm I'm I'm I'm stalling because I'm not sure.
- 49:30Speaker 3: Well, I just think we got.
- 49:34Speaker 4: We got at that episode last season where Spock becomes
- 49:40Speaker 4: human for episode and we get to see you get
- 49:45Speaker 4: to see Ethan Pack as Spock with the full range
- 49:49Speaker 4: of emotions.
- 49:52Speaker 1: And I bought it.
- 49:52Speaker 3: I bought every minute of it.
- 49:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I bought every second of it.
- 49:58Speaker 3: I've seen zach quinto other things.
- 50:01Speaker 1: And the other thing.
- 50:05Speaker 2: The other thing too, is we have six hours of
- 50:10Speaker 2: Zachary Quinto Spock. We've got twenty six hours of Ethan
- 50:16Speaker 2: Peck Spock. Right, so Ethan Peck has more time to
- 50:21Speaker 2: delve more into the character and to put him in
- 50:23Speaker 2: different situations and bring that out of him.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, we've got regular Spock, We've got bearded Spock.
- 50:30Speaker 1: We've got right, we got a lot of Spock.
- 50:32Speaker 2: Or with Zachary Quinto, he's got moments to shine. But
- 50:37Speaker 2: it's like, if you add it up all his time
- 50:40Speaker 2: in each of the films, I'd be surprised if you've
- 50:42Speaker 2: got more than forty minutes between all three of the movies.
- 50:45Speaker 1: I also like his his I like his version because
- 50:52Speaker 1: of it. I like his attitude. Yeah, he's got attitude
- 50:56Speaker 1: in in this movie, in all three of these movies.
- 51:00Speaker 1: You know, I am expressing multiple attitudes at one twitch
- 51:02Speaker 1: you're referring and the only gratitude, the only emotion I'd
- 51:05Speaker 1: like to portray, you know, convey is gratitude, you know,
- 51:09Speaker 1: thank you, live along and prosper. He's very snarky. Yeah,
- 51:14Speaker 1: very snarky. You know, Get this man off my ship.
- 51:19Speaker 1: I like his attitude because it's different. It might not
- 51:23Speaker 1: be you know, spot, but I you know, it brings
- 51:27Speaker 1: us something a little bit different to the character. And
- 51:29Speaker 1: nobody wants a carbon copy, right, you know. But and
- 51:35Speaker 1: le like Zach cree Quinto, loves that in can you do.
- 51:40Speaker 3: Something for me?
- 51:42Speaker 1: Sure?
- 51:43Speaker 3: Can you put yourself in the middle? The my OCD
- 51:46Speaker 3: is right now?
- 51:50Speaker 1: Thank you? You don't want me, is it? I thought
- 51:55Speaker 1: we were friends.
- 51:57Speaker 3: Know, the yellow, the two yellows together was selling. It
- 52:01Speaker 3: was driving me up.
- 52:05Speaker 5: Nice.
- 52:06Speaker 3: I didn't realize. I didn't realize you're wearing a Starfleet Delta.
- 52:12Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeh yeh in honor of the movie.
- 52:19Speaker 1: That's right, So okay, I get so wrapping up the review,
- 52:25Speaker 1: m how do you guys think this left the Calvin universe?
- 52:31Speaker 1: Do you think obviously we've talked about Star Trek four
- 52:34Speaker 1: till we were blue in the face. I don't think
- 52:37Speaker 1: it's needed. What are your guys thoughts.
- 52:41Speaker 2: Like that we need a fourth film?
- 52:43Speaker 3: Right?
- 52:46Speaker 8: If they're going to do one, I think I think
- 52:52Speaker 8: it has to like tie up the Calvin Timeline fold.
- 52:58Speaker 1: It back in. Okay, Okay, I I think they did
- 53:02Speaker 1: a good job wrapping this one up. I think a
- 53:04Speaker 1: trilogy is just.
- 53:07Speaker 3: Did a show a few years ago. I think where
- 53:09Speaker 3: we uh we each pitched our star Trek four.
- 53:14Speaker 2: Yeah, right, when we do that? That done?
- 53:16Speaker 1: Right? Yeah?
- 53:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm still.
- 53:24Speaker 5: Right.
- 53:26Speaker 2: I don't I don't think you need a fourth one.
- 53:28Speaker 2: I think it wraps up good enough the way it is.
- 53:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, especially with you know, they said goodbye
- 53:35Speaker 1: to characters. They said goodbye to Spot. They did a
- 53:39Speaker 1: tribute to anton Yelchin uh jj. Abrams said early on
- 53:44Speaker 1: after his death that he was not going to recast him, right.
- 53:48Speaker 1: Uh So, I think the story has been told because
- 53:51Speaker 1: this isn't a main, main Timeline universe story. It's it's
- 53:56Speaker 1: an offshoot story. You know. It's it's like doing the
- 53:58Speaker 1: Mere Universe. You know, they did the Mere Universe. The
- 54:02Speaker 1: stories are done, you know, let's put it to rest.
- 54:05Speaker 1: I think what you.
- 54:08Speaker 2: What you could do very similar to like what you
- 54:11Speaker 2: did for the Lower Dex crossover. You could bring one
- 54:15Speaker 2: of these actors over as a crossover character like somehow,
- 54:20Speaker 2: you know, they find a ripple in space or whatever
- 54:22Speaker 2: it is, and and you bring on Zachary Quinto's Bock
- 54:25Speaker 2: or you know, Chris Pine whatever, right, you could you
- 54:29Speaker 2: could do that.
- 54:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll uh Crisis Earth, I just write I just watched, Uh,
- 54:34Speaker 1: I just watched where Superman meets Superman. Like you are
- 54:38Speaker 1: Clark Kent and it's it's Tyler Hoakland.
- 54:41Speaker 2: And yeah, Brandon Rathred.
- 54:45Speaker 1: No, it's Tyler. It's they go to visit the Smallville universe.
- 54:48Speaker 2: Oh that's right, that's right.
- 54:49Speaker 1: Yeah, they're like you are Clark Kent, right Tom, Yeah, Tom, Welly,
- 54:55Speaker 1: So you can have something like that. It's like this
- 54:57Speaker 1: is Spock. Wait, this is Spock, Like, yeah, hello, Spock,
- 55:00Speaker 1: I am Spock. I am Spock. Peace and long life,
- 55:03Speaker 1: Live long and prosper. Yeah, there could be a cute
- 55:06Speaker 1: moment there. It shouldn't be longer than an episode.
- 55:09Speaker 2: You could even do. Zachary couldn't have been like this
- 55:11Speaker 2: is not the first time I met.
- 55:12Speaker 1: Myself, right right? Yeah, that that'd be great.
- 55:22Speaker 3: This is comments about you know, you don't seem to
- 55:27Speaker 3: be bothered by this prediction.
- 55:29Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, this is not the first time I've met.
- 55:33Speaker 1: Yeah, at the end of the episode, you could say,
- 55:35Speaker 1: as my usual agreed, he would seem oddly self served,
- 55:39Speaker 1: and I will simply say good luck, and that's how
- 55:42Speaker 1: the episode was. People would love like that, you know,
- 55:46Speaker 1: people would love it. So yeah, I think you could
- 55:48Speaker 1: say goodbye in an episode of Strange New Worlds.
- 55:52Speaker 5: Uh.
- 55:52Speaker 1: And they have been known to, you know, swing for
- 55:54Speaker 1: the fences, so you know whether you.
- 55:58Speaker 3: Now would it? Would that be a musical episode or
- 56:01Speaker 3: just a regular one.
- 56:02Speaker 1: No, they would make it animated, just for the heck
- 56:05Speaker 1: of it. Yeah, claymation, stop motion. Yea. The lines are
- 56:11Speaker 1: high coup that's right, correct, correct or limericks or limericks.
- 56:16Speaker 2: They go back and forth and then it ends with
- 56:19Speaker 2: them singing three Little Birds from Bob Dylan or Bob Marley.
- 56:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, okay, where are you broadcasting from me? Yeah?
- 56:31Speaker 2: Idaho? My house. I don't know.
- 56:37Speaker 3: I saw somewhere that Idaho doesn't exist.
- 56:41Speaker 1: That's right, that's right, Idaho doesn't exist.
- 56:44Speaker 2: That is That is my new favorite conspiracy theory.
- 56:48Speaker 1: That's funny because a friend of mine, Steven and I
- 56:52Speaker 1: Stephen had this theory that Wyoming doesn't didn't exist for
- 56:56Speaker 1: many same reasons, like you've never known anybody who went
- 56:59Speaker 1: to Wyom, You've never been to Wyoming yourself, and yeah,
- 57:03Speaker 1: Ida hope probably doesn't exist because nobody knows anybody who's
- 57:05Speaker 1: ever been to Wyoming. Nobody listening listening to the show
- 57:09Speaker 1: Lives in Wyoming has ever been to lives in Idaho?
- 57:12Speaker 1: Has ever been to Idaho? So and Daniels lying about
- 57:16Speaker 1: being in Idaho. Potatoes come from Russia. People get with
- 57:22Speaker 1: the program?
- 57:25Speaker 2: Uh, all right, well should we get to should we
- 57:28Speaker 2: get the listener feedback?
- 57:30Speaker 1: Have we beaten beyond? Sure?
- 57:32Speaker 3: Beyond?
- 57:34Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 57:35Speaker 2: All right, well let's uh, let's let's get the listener feedback.
- 57:39Speaker 3: Uh, listener feedback?
- 57:46Speaker 2: All right? So uh for our listener feedback. I did
- 57:50Speaker 2: post in a lot of the social media, hey, if
- 57:54Speaker 2: we do another Gelevin film, what Beastie Boys fun do
- 57:57Speaker 2: you want in it? And uh, there was a lot
- 58:03Speaker 2: of a lot of answers we got. Intergalactic was the
- 58:06Speaker 2: most popular one far and away, Beastie Boys was or
- 58:10Speaker 2: Brass Monkey was pretty high up there. But a few
- 58:13Speaker 2: people put girls girls girls that Beasty Boys, So I
- 58:20Speaker 2: thought that was funny.
- 58:22Speaker 1: How about the sweater song I wanted? Benny and the Jets,
- 58:29Speaker 1: Benny and the Jets.
- 58:30Speaker 2: Yeah, that's on their like anthology.
- 58:32Speaker 1: Okay, okay, I just saw that. I just saw the
- 58:36Speaker 1: album The Beast Boys album on on vinyl at Walmart yesterday. Yeah. Yeah,
- 58:44Speaker 1: so yeah, their final section really takes it brings back
- 58:48Speaker 1: some memories. It's all stuff that you would have been
- 58:51Speaker 1: on in like the late nineties.
- 58:53Speaker 2: Somebody was telling me that, uh that the vinyl that
- 58:58Speaker 2: they make now is over near as good as the
- 59:01Speaker 2: stuff from like the sixties and seventies because they make
- 59:04Speaker 2: it with plastic as opposed to resin. Oh yeah, so
- 59:07Speaker 2: it's not nearly as high quality. And he tends to
- 59:10Speaker 2: wear out after a while.
- 59:13Speaker 1: So you can't, like in a dramatic fashion like shatter
- 59:16Speaker 1: it on the countertop. Not really, no, no, but I
- 59:21Speaker 1: found out it. No.
- 59:23Speaker 2: I don't listener vinyls, so it's fine.
- 59:26Speaker 1: We've got to. We've bought my oldest son of record
- 59:28Speaker 1: player a few years back, and he's got quite a
- 59:30Speaker 1: few albums and it's it's quite varied too, you know. Yeah,
- 59:34Speaker 1: like Disney soundtracks all the way to like eminem you know,
- 59:38Speaker 1: and everything in between.
- 59:39Speaker 2: So okay, that's cool.
- 59:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:43Speaker 2: Oh well we got Chasmis on the line, so let
- 59:46Speaker 2: me let me bring him into.
- 59:48Speaker 1: There. He is, Hello, Hello, what's up? Chazz biz not much?
- 59:53Speaker 3: Did you did you watch the movie jazz Biss? Yes,
- 59:57Speaker 3: Chad Biss, go put on a black shirt. Man, you're
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: throwing it off.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: I know, blue blue.
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: I'll just squat down.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: There we go, There we go, jazz bizt the guy,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: the guy that says track cast mobile one. That's that's Dan, Dan,
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: This is jazz Bist. Yeah, thanks for having me.
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: Are you selling the auto insurance or something?
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Go door to door.
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: One?
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: So did you rewatch Beyond?
- 1:00:33Speaker 7: Uh?
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: I was like Dan, and I got as far as
- 1:00:36Speaker 5: he did. Okay, I didn't even get to teach yourselbow.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, you should have watched the second
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: half and then yeah.
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: It's just started in the middle and just ended it.
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: The thing is is like beat for beat. I know
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: what happens in this movie, and I remember it. There's
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: like there's nothing special about this movie.
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: You know, this movie Rewatching, especially with in it. Yeah,
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: it made me think it would have been better if
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Knuckles was the character because is technically an alien.
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: Well they had this like you hired this great actor,
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: but you put him under this like heavy makeup.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it's one of the big critiques.
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: Yeah, and so nobody even knew was Selba, So you
- 1:01:28Speaker 5: could have got anybody to play that part.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: Not Yeah, and even when you minimize the makeup and
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: he's done his vampire energy thing where it's not as Yeah.
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: I didn't get any.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: Device is like the end all be all, So yeah,
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: I didn't get that either, Like how did because he
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: was human? They show him as a human and then
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: somehow you morphed.
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: Into something with the planet really like changed him. And
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: you know, because it's other aliens they're on that planet,
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: they got changed into this.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: They they should have tied it in with that that
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: planet from Insurrection, Like I said somehow that the the
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: radiation rings of this planet, these are the original inhabitants
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: and blah blah blah. And you know what I really
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: wish I was were talking about those dogs, those little
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: dog looking things. They had a real brief uh scene
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: where you see the back of one of them in
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: a starfleet uniform, not wearing pants. I wish there had
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: been an interaction earlier in the movie where Kirk is like,
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: you know, dude, what's up with your people? They're like
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: really super stupid and weird and strange and won't you
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: know they're misbehaving and they speak English. So it would
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: be cool to see an interaction between Kirk and Starfleet
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: dog mm.
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: Hmm, like Dan's eyes.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: It was like, you.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: Could have done something.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: You were pants, yeah exactly, yeah, put some pants on.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: See this uniform see it?
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: You people, well they.
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: Had like Jelic or you know, Jellico's like ancestry. They're
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: saying that to him.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: So right, well, if the planet really changed you that much,
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: you could have done something where like, hey, if we
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: stay on this planet for more than seventy two hours
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: or whatever it is, it's going to start changing the
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: crew and they're going to be more antagonistic and less
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: likely to fall in line or whatever.
- 1:03:31Speaker 5: Exactly, Like something should have happened like that, you know,
- 1:03:34Speaker 5: the crease should have started changing. Yeah, it made no
- 1:03:37Speaker 5: sense that all the aliens changed, but Jala didn't, right.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, yeah, I don't know.
- 1:03:46Speaker 5: I thought it was really weird. And then how did
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: they get these little ships? Okay, they control these where
- 1:03:52Speaker 5: did they call them?
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: That's another thing that I was able to catch this
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: this nineteenth doing it was it was they were mining vessels, right,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: the old mining vessels thens on Hyeah. Apparently, you know,
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: don't let the Romulans know that starfleet shield frequencies are
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: vulnerable to you know, single person mining craft.
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: Yeah, you just need civilian technics, you'll get them.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: And their ships are also made of unobtainium because they
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: just you know, ripped through the Enterprise hall like it
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: was you know, wet tissue paper and there was no
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: signs of damage to these ships and they crash landed
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: on the planet and they're fine.
- 1:04:34Speaker 5: And how many times has the Enterprise been destroyed in
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: movies now.
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: In movies? I can think of three?
- 1:04:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:04:43Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: You know one thing though that this film did win
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: an Academy Award for Best Makeup.
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: Well, yeah, the makeup was great.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: Yeah. You know that one lady with her head opens up.
- 1:04:55Speaker 5: And yeah, you put the mcguffin device and it fits there.
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: It's not like sticking out or anything, right, right, you
- 1:05:04Speaker 5: know what happens if it's alien with the cow lake
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: with that head so or it doesn't go down all right, Yeah,
- 1:05:11Speaker 5: we didn't put water on it or anything.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: So yeah, what if she wasn't there?
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: I mean, where were they hiding?
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: Right right? Oh she was sick today.
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: Oh no, Scotty, I need you to put this in
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: the old prison purse.
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: Yeah, prison person. That's the first time IVE ever heard
- 1:05:31Speaker 5: that one.
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: Oh no, yeah, you knew exactly what I was talking about.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: Yeah, somebody's got a past. You mentioned Jala. What do
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: you guys think of Jayla? Jayla was played by Sophia.
- 1:05:48Speaker 5: M I liked her great.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I like her a lot. I liked her attitude.
- 1:05:55Speaker 5: If they made a new one, they you know, check offstead,
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: they should her because you don't have enough female cast
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: on the old crew.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: Speaking a female cast, Alicia Eve was conspicuously not in
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: this movie. She was not even mentioned, even though in
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: the last movie they they firmly established her she was
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: now part of the crew. Now. I don't know why, Yeah, Alice, Alice, Yeah,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: I don't know why. The actor was not in the movie,
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: and they don't even explain it away in in this movie,
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: there's no.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: No, I don't uh.
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: She's off raising little David by her by herself.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: Well, yeah, and they they talked about the one possible
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: explanation that they didn't get into in the movie, and
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: that early on in the script they were gonna mention
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: something but that she was off doing research on the
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: Genesis device. Okay, okay, say something in the movie, you know,
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: like doctor Marcus is off doing this a new secret project.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: One line, doctor McCoy or m kirk.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: That should have been your ancient weapon is the Genesis device?
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: They get like a really.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: Old tech Oh yeah, yeah, and again the mcguffin device.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: What did this device do to complete the weapon? Was
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: it a key?
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: Was it you know, the final put it and then
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: you could turn it like the Predator?
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: Right was I mean you can't replicate this No, apparently not.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: You can't rebuild it?
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: Come on, yeah, just getting crack it open and let
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: out the angry storm.
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: Don't forget.
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: Keys is on its break, So that's right.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeahs and tomb Raider video games.
- 1:07:45Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, don't forget a kelpie and cried and
- 1:07:48Speaker 5: destroyed all the delithium.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: That's right, that's true. That's about that.
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: Yes, that's right.
- 1:07:54Speaker 5: I mean that right there. You might as well just
- 1:07:57Speaker 5: wipe out all the Kelpians.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: This was by far a perfect movie. I really enjoyed it,
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: and I really liked the soundtrack that they brought a
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: little a little something new in the soundtrack at the beginning,
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: and I thought it sounded the as there as they
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: first pan onto uh not the Franklin but the York Town.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: The music and it sounded like epic Christmas movie music
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: for some reason. Right, if you go back and listen
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: to it again, it just sounds like, oh, I don't think, yeah,
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: this would make like a really this is like Elf
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: two music. I really liked it, but it gave me
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: Christmas movie.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: But yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: Yeah, Okay. I got a question about the Yorktown, right,
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: so yes, you see the Enterprise pulling in there and
- 1:08:50Speaker 5: it's going through dry dock, right, yeah, so it's going
- 1:08:53Speaker 5: into port. The thing is, what about the Big Black
- 1:08:57Speaker 5: Enterprise from into darkness something? When you can fit in
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: that port?
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: Would not outside the Evil Enterprise?
- 1:09:03Speaker 5: No, yea evil Enterprise on the park outside and then
- 1:09:06Speaker 5: yeah you have the park outside and just kinder boats
- 1:09:09Speaker 5: over yeah transport in.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: The Big Black one.
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: You didn't see the goatee on it.
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: Big platform cop was.
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: Flying around with his evil God. Yeah, good times. It's
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: it's it's just not caught in that movie. But yeah,
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: it's there. They should have put flames on it, but
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: you know, it's evil.
- 1:09:39Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: So all right, I guess because I took a cruise
- 1:09:45Speaker 5: and you know, I see how big these ships are,
- 1:09:48Speaker 5: and I'm like, Okay, if you make them too big,
- 1:09:50Speaker 5: you can't pull out a port, you know, because most
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: of the if they're too big, they can't.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: So if they're too big, a can't pull out.
- 1:09:57Speaker 5: Yeah the oh no, no, well they fit in the dog.
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: You got your mother watching the show.
- 1:10:03Speaker 5: Yeah, Scott's.
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: To get to the port.
- 1:10:12Speaker 5: Oh I Mom, I Mom, she doesn't know.
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: Well that's what that's what she said. Wow, on that note. Yeah,
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: let's wrap it up, Scott.
- 1:10:31Speaker 5: That's all Scott.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: Yeah, let's wrap it up. That's what she said.
- 1:10:34Speaker 6: Oh god, she said, all right, oh god, that's what
- 1:10:40Speaker 6: she said.
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: Okay, Yeah, there's a Chili's commercial. They opened the Chili's
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Okay, and they made a commercial for
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: and everyone in the commercial is like, uh like small
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: characters from the office.
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: Okay, so go look it up.
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: It's it's pretty funny. It's pretty funny.
- 1:11:00Speaker 5: Wow. Okay, okay, all right, you got like Kevin and
- 1:11:04Speaker 5: to do with Star Trek.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: Yeah, g baby back rides.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, yeah, I'm throwing up the phone number. Oh
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: would you get a voicemail? Hold on?
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right.
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I totally forgot about this. Let me uh, let
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: me add that because I forgot to put it in here.

- 1:12:05Speaker 5: That's a deep cut. Yeah, that was like they had
- 1:12:08Speaker 5: a dance off in McDonald's in that movie.
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, hey, you know, So that voicemail was
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: basically saying if if if you've seen some bad Star
