- Micaiah: Going on, everybody. We're back in better than ever. Captain Boring alongside his main man, Roberto Conqueso. We are here to bring you another riveting episode of a podcast that has rebranded. We are no longer a fourth in one podcast. We are Mostly college football. It's a a name change that's needed to happen for quite some time. When we started the podcast, it was just for kicks and gigs. I guess technically this podcast still is for kicks and gigs. we do thank everyone who is listening and or subscribed. On YouTube, we have 163 subscribers. Thank you. On TikTok, all 240 Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Micaiah: some on there. So thank you so much, everyone, for listening, sharing, subscribing. we we We do it for you guys, the fans. That is what you we brought. This is what this podcast is brought to you by you guys, the fan. However, this was a name change a long time coming. One Cam Newton, he had a podcast. It's also named fourth in one podcast. We were first. However, Cam Newton's more famous than we are. Plain and simple. So we gave it some thought. We looked at the free names among all the social media. So we are now mostly college football. And that's pretty much explains what what we are. We are mostly college football. We'll talk a little other sports, but it's mostly college football brought to you by the fans. So thank you everyone for being here. Robert, welcome. Mostly college football. First episode. Of course, Simeon's missing, naturally. But can we you know expect anything else? Roberto Con Queso: no. I would actually would have expected him to tell us that he was going to be on and then Micaiah: Mm. Roberto Con Queso: just be fashionably late. Micaiah: Right, right. All right. So he's not here to do the sound bites. So we'll just you know, this is more of a serious podcast today. in all seriousness, though, we do miss him. He's just on vacation, so he should be back as we are getting closer and closer to the season. Fall camp opened today. More importantly, the Big Ten fall camp opened today at Michigan specifically, is what I'm talking about. But we are going to preview the Big Ten for everyone's. Former, if this is your first episode, welcome. We previewed the ACC. We me and Robert picked SMU Miami to be in the title game. When the Big 12 rolled around, we had a varying different opinions. Texas Tech BYU, BYU Arizona, that was Simeon, and I'm Texas Tech Houston. SEC last week, Georgia, Oklahoma, Simeon. Georgia, Alabama. That was Robert. He said begrudgingly, because we all know that's who it's gonna be. And I said Georgia, Texas. So we are on to the Big Ten. This week. The Big Ten, which has 18 teams, go ahead and make that make sense. Will not rebrand for any amount of money, no matter how many patches they put on their uniforms. At least they're not selling their soul to Monster Energy for $20 million. Ain't Roberto Con Queso: Ain't that the truth? Micaiah: that the truth? All right. So Robert, if I say Big Ten football, What what what comes to mind? What what are we thinking for the upcoming season? Roberto Con Queso: I am expecting another dominant year for Ohio State. A prove it year, I would say, for Signeti and Indiana. Now you might say, what do you mean by prove it? Because he's already won a national championship. I mean, can you do it again? Can you still put a very good team on there, still be super competitive, still make the playoffs and not be a flash in the pan kind of deal. I think it's gonna be a season full of make it or break it years for Big Ten coaches. Micaiah: Yeah, there are a bunch of them. So some coaches maybe on the hot seat, or maybe even no doubtedly on the hot seat. Let's start with the obvious Mike Glocksley. That's that's obvious. Mike Glocksley on the hot seat, as well as Luke Fickle, I think is on the hot seat. Greg Ciano on the hot seat. I I would definitely say. I know I think they gave Greg Ciano an extension, still like their Rutgers is not Going to be a bottom dweller. I think as well, maybe David Braun. I mean, he's had okay seasons at Northwestern. He was an interim that got the tag after Pat Fitzgerald, now at Michigan State. And then I think PJ Fleck, he's been there a while. Minnesota's been average. That's the best way to put it. Does Minnesota get tired of being average? Roberto Con Queso: It's hard to say because I don't remember a time where Minnesota really hasn't been anything except average. Micaiah: And then and then Roberto Con Queso: Mm. Micaiah: and then Purdue. I know this is I think this Barry Odom's third season, second, Roberto Con Queso: Or don't, maybe. Micaiah: per but but they're per don't. So ha and they went winless in the Big Ten last year, and I believe they won less than two Big Ten games the year before. I'm gonna pull it up right now. Roberto Con Queso: It's a that's a it's a school that probably could have very good football, obviously because Signet is able to recruit in the state of Indiana and turn Indiana around as it is, whether he's using transfers or just down home recruiting, but like Purdue's losing that battle with Indiana. And you should never lose that battle to like Indiana. Micaiah: Purdue in the last three years has three conference wins. They went Ofer two years ago, O for last year, and three years ago, they were three and six. So they weren't, they they've never been great. So when does Barry Odom his time run out? Right. And now I was talking today with a guy at work, and we're on the same page, and I want to get your thoughts on this. We both feel it's three main teams at the top. It's Ohio State, it's Oregon, it's Indiana. And we can debate Indiana in a minute. Let's just stay with me. Indiana. Then a sizable gap. And then you have a cluster of teams, in that being USC, Michigan, Iowa, maybe Nebraska at the end there. there are sorry, let me find some other teams here. Roberto Con Queso: And say Micaiah: Penn Penn State in in there, Washington's in there, teams of Illinois, I I think would in there. And then you have another sizable gap to the bottom, which is Rutgers, Maryland, UCLA, Michigan State, Northwestern, and Illinois, you know, depending on Minnesota, depending on where you put them. Is that how you would kind of rank the Big Ten? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, I mean there is like I would yeah, because even on Michigan's worst years and Penn State's worst years, like it's still better than Purdue's like best years and Northwestern's best years. So it's like yeah, there's a big gap, but I don't know like how I don't know how you would fix that. No, Michigan State would be the odd one out for me just because Michigan State has had that success. They've had the program, they've had the coaching. they just kinda hit that rough spot and then they everything with Mel Tucker and everything. You know, that that happened and quarterbacks never panned out and then they get the new coach and this quarterback didn't pan out, so They would be my only outlier. But yeah, I would say there's just I mean, you could even probably go as far as saying there's Indiana, Ohio State, Gap. There's Oregon. Cause you we can we could sit here all day and talk about how good Oregon is. And then the playoffs come around. And they get blown out by either Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. Micaiah: Or Indiana. Roberto Con Queso: Or Indiana. Like they just get destroyed. So it's those two Gap, Oregon, Gap. Micaiah: Yeah, so it it it comes down to how you want to define success. And I'm fine with that, right? Ohio State, Indiana, Gap, Oregon, Gap, every everybody else. Big Ten Conference last year. Rob, just to refresh your memory, because sometimes you forget, you you got a lot going on. Last year, Big Ten Roberto Con Queso: Let me hear it. Hey, I'm forgetful. Micaiah: Last year Big Ten Conference finished as such. Indiana, Ohio State, Oregon. Nine and nine and eight and one. Then it USC, Michigan, both seven and two. Iowa six and three. And then five and four was Washington, Illinois, Minnesota. Four and five was Nebraska, Wisconsin. Three and six, UCLA, Penn State. Rutgers, Wisconsin both won two games. Michigan State, Maryland won a game, and then Perdon was all the way in the basement. We could run that back again this year. Roberto Con Queso: easily. Micaiah: Easily you could run that back again this year, right? The and now we lost him entirely. So we lost Robert. we're gonna cut this together to make it a little more smoothly. I'm gonna answer my own question here right off the bat. Which is I I think that there's a possibility that a team from the middle of the pack moves up and we get a USC Michigan and Iowa Washington to kind of move up and kind of challenge the top two or top three if you want to include Oregon in there. And for this argument's sake, I I think we should include Oregon because they've been they performed well. They've won a Big Ten championship two years ago. However, I don't I I think it's a good possibility. I don't think it's likely. Michigan's got a new coaching staff. Kyle Wenningham is still can he do more with more? Right. Is Bryce Underwood gonna be any good? Is he gonna show improvement? And how just how bad was as I'm gonna let Robert back in here. Brother, what's going? Roberto Con Queso: No clue. Micaiah: So I was answering my own question, and what I said is, I think it's a possibility. Sure, anything's possible in college football that you get a middle-tier Michigan, Iowa, USC, Washington, Illinois, you know, someone from mid-tier to move up and challenge the big three. But I don't think it's very likely. Michigan new coaching staff. I'm still not. I love the identity for Kyle Whittingham. He's bait in his tenure at Utah, his record and and the things he did were almost identical to Michigan. I'm still not sold that he can come in and coach at the Big Ten level. I need to see it first. Lincoln Riley, let's be honest, USC's been a disaster. Have been in disastrous seasons since not disastrous, but not up to expectations. Disastrous too hard at work. Iowa, I maybe they'd be able to throw the ball this year. Maybe. Washington's okay. I just feel like Washington is just out there on an island. Can Jed Fish get it done? Illinois doesn't scare me. Nebraska doesn't scare me. Minnesota doesn't scare me. Am I wrong with any of that? Roberto Con Queso: No, no, you're pretty spot on. I would say the only school outside of the top three of Oregon, Ohio City, and Indiana that pro that even though they have a new coach, I feel like potentially could disrupt things, and that's Penn State. Micaiah: Okay. Roberto Con Queso: And the and the main reason behind it is because Penn State doesn't they don't play Oregon, Ohio State, or Indiana this year, I don't think. Micaiah: You you would be correct. So people are pointing to Penn State because they're out of conference. First of all, they're the Penn State Cyclones. He brought a gaggle of Iowa State people with him. So they already know the scheme, know the system, know the culture, and they're gonna instill that in the Penn State people who were already there. But out of conference is Marshall Temple Buffalo wins, right? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, should be. Micaiah: Okay. Should be. Wisconsin, I think Luke Fickle might get fired after that game. North at Roberto Con Queso: Possible. Micaiah: Northwestern. Then they do play USC at home, probably a night game, white out. And then they go to Michigan. The rest of it, perdu perdon, at Washington, tough environment there. Mina, but then they close November strong. Minnesota, Rutgers, Meryl. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, I mean It's possible that they end up undefeated going into if not only one loss going into like a Big Ten championship scenario. Micaiah: Yeah. I I Roberto Con Queso: And it's w Micaiah: go ahead. Roberto Con Queso: I don't know if we're really gonna know who Penn State is at that point because i other than like Michigan and Ohio State, who's gonna test them? So if they win both of those games, they'll be the team that's they're essentially last year's Indiana, in theory, where they had like they didn't play anyone all year. They kind of skated skated through until they started playing and were like, well How are they gonna be when they play a a a good school like Ohio State? Micaiah: Right. I I think they're s I think their floor nine and three. I think their ceilings, as you mentioned, eleven and one, right? They they're gonna run the ball. Matt Campbell runs the football. They're gonna run the ball. Rocco Beck has been a solid quarterback. I think realistically you're looking at a loss to either, not both, USC and U. Or Michigan. And then I do think you lose the road game to Washington. At Washington, tough environment because it's east going west. Let's remember that as well. And if it's a night game, that spells trouble for Penn State because it has in the Big Ten. But Penn State's like veteran coaching staff. Like all the reasons I should be love in love with Michigan, but Michigan's schedule is difficult. So you gotta watch out for Penn State. Michigan schedule is again veteran coaching staff, lots of talented roster, but they play someone in the non-conference. It's Western Michigan, it's Oklahoma, it's UTEP. It's Oklahoma at home at noon, so maybe. And then it's Iowa, very losable game. At Minnesota, Penn State, Indiana, back to back. Then at Rutgers, Michigan State. Michigan State will be much improved. Then at Oregon, home UCLA and then at Ohio State. Can I be honest with you as a as a as a Michigan fan right now? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, it's here. Micaiah: We can be looking at five losses this year. And the team Roberto Con Queso: yeah, it's Micaiah: may be better than last year's team. Roberto Con Queso: This kinda seems like it could be this is probably the hardest Michigan schedule Geez, for probably the past Micaiah: Fifteen years. Roberto Con Queso: probably I would say yeah. I mean, we're looking at Oklahoma's ranked starting off, Penn State's ranked, I Indiana's ranked, Oregon's ranked, Ohio State's ranked. I mean, five other opponents already are ranked. Probably by the fourth week somehow, Iowa probably is sneaking in at twenty five. So I mean, yeah, it It doesn't get easy for Michigan at all. They also only play four road games too. I noticed that with Georgia or wherever that week before. Micaiah: They do. I d Roberto Con Queso: I don't know how they choose these things. Micaiah: I dude, you got me. I know Simeon mentioned last week they didn't it's not abnormal for Michigan not to leave the big house until October. Roberto Con Queso: Early. Right. Micaiah: Right. That's not unusual. What's unusual is only having four road games. Roberto Con Queso: Yes. Micaiah: That Roberto Con Queso: Throughout the entire season. Micaiah: Yeah. And maybe that's why remember last year when we said we don't know why they're trying to move the Western game to Germany, right? And you're just like, well, they're trying to grow the game of football. I'm like, they're missing out revenue, right? That's probably why. Cause they looked at their schedule and they're like, We get eight home games. Yeah, we get eight home Roberto Con Queso: We have so many, so many home games. Micaiah: games, kick one to Germany. Yeah, we'll pay for that because we're we normally get six. We're getting seven and eight, you know. So, Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Micaiah: I I honestly think this Michigan's team will be better than last year's team, discipline wise, quarterback. I do belie I'm a big believer in Jason in Jason back the the OC, what he did at both Virginia as a passing game coordinator and then aga and then at Utah the past couple years with Devin Dampier. I I I do think the offense will be better, Bryce will be better, the run game, but I I just think Oklahoma's better. I think Oregon's better, Ohio State better, obvious. And then you get trap games with Iowa and Penn State. and I think Indiana's better. I think Indiana ha has a better coach. So you're giving me four losses, and then you get like trap games between Iowa and Penn State. You might have a team that scores like 35 points a game and has five losses at the end of the season, but all of their losses are combined like 25 points, you know. Roberto Con Queso: Well, yeah, and at the end of the year it'll be you know, the saying will be, well, Michigan had a much better team. They just had the unfortunate like the record doesn't show how good Michigan was because they had a ver probably the toughest Big Ten schedule. Even other team improved. Micaiah: Right. you can now with that schedule, if all the teams live up to the hype that we think that they will, you get to the end of the year with only two losses, lock playoff team. Right. If you're if if right, if you get close Roberto Con Queso: As long as as long as the losses are to those teams. Micaiah: if you get close losses to or at Oregon and at Columb and at Ohio State, and you get wins at o over Oklahoma. Let's just say Penn State is ranked. Let's say we won't rank Iowa, but let's just say Penn State is ranked. and Oklahoma would be ranked, obviously, and Indiana would be ranked. You get three ranked wins, you're you you're probably getting in. Ohio State. Easier their schedule, kind of tough, but they also they have five road games, so they have to go to Texas week two, at Iowa, at Indiana, at USC, that is the 17th of October, and then Halloween. So there is a bye week in between those two road games, and then at Nebraska, they get Oregon, Michigan, Northwestern, Illinois, and Maryland all at home. A tough schedule. They they're playing a top five team in Texas. They go to Indiana, two USC. And they have to host Oregon. Roberto Con Queso: Now, an unlikely but very possible scenario is Micaiah: Okay. They suck. Roberto Con Queso: Ohio State has three losses. It's unlikely, but at Indiana, who very well could be running back for another national championship, home against Oregon, who generally gives Ohio State lots of fits. Micaiah: What they they did that twenty twenty one, right? They walked into Columbus and they beat Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. That was like the first or sec that might have been the first or second time that they played him. I think I think Micaiah: Yeah, something like that. Roberto Con Queso: sometimes yeah. 'Cause Thibodeau was the one of the ends still before the NFL. Micaiah: Yeah, and he didn't even play that game, from what I remember. Roberto Con Queso: they gotta go to Texas. If Arch figures that out and Sark figures out how to win a big game, you know, that could be a loss. I c I c I don't even know if I can entertain the thought of Michigan like Micaiah: Lin if Lincoln Riley puts together f finally puts together, right, like a a competent run game offense and figures out you how to make USC kinda click like Oklahoma, that's a loss. Could be. Could Roberto Con Queso: Well Micaiah: be. Roberto Con Queso: Te Halloween night, there's nothing scarier than going than being Ohio State having to go on the road on Halloween. Micaiah: Yeah. Yeah. It Roberto Con Queso: Pur look at Purdue. Micaiah: it and you gotta go to Iowa. They lost again. Now I know, like, this is eight years ago at this point in time, but like people struggle people struggle in Iowa City. That's just not a that's just not an Ohio State problem. People struggle in Iowa Iowa City. So and then you gotta go to Lincoln right before Michigan trap game. Maybe is Matt Rule back at all? Like Like it is is so Ohio State's got a tough schedule. How's it let's look at Oregon schedule real quick. Oregon schedule, okay non-conference, Boise State at Oklahoma State. The competent out of conference. Is that fair, at least? They're not great, but it's competent. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, 'cause they they did the instead of being Michigan and Ohio State and going for like the big I don't want to say juggernaut, but the big top ten top Micaiah: I know what you mean. Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: ten, top fifteen school right off the bat, they said, Let's spread it out and let's get to top forty. To where at the end of the year, Boise State could be sneaking in in the top twenty five. Oklahoma State, if they figured out they could be in the top twenty five. You know, so it's not at the beginning of the year it doesn't look great 'cause they're not ranked, but at the end of the year, these two teams could be ranked. Micaiah: So Oklahoma, Boise State, Oklahoma State, Portland State's athrog, and that's 1030 and Big Ten Network. Then it's at USC, UCLA, Nebraska at home, at Illinois. That's probably gonna be like a noon kickoff. Sleepy. That's 11 a.m. and earlier for them. So that's 11 a.m. local time. So that's been like 8 a.m. Northwestern at Ohio State, Michigan at Michigan State. That's eight PM Fox, so that's that'll be a Oregon blowout. And then home versus Washington. I'm gonna say something. Maybe people don't. The Big Ten to me has done what the NFL does to division winners. You wanna be the top of the Big Ten? Fine. Great. Love that. Next year, you get to play a top of the Big Ten schedule. No more of this. You're you're you're beaten per don't 59 to nothing, week in, week out. You're gonna play the big boys from the previous year and we're gonna find out who the real Big Ten Dynasty is. I don't hate it. I kinda like it. Because then if you crawl through the schedule, if you're Oregon, if you're Ohio State, if you're Michigan, USC plays all these teams too. So USC is right in there. You're set up. Roberto Con Queso: Well they're they're do you know, they're going and I think they're taking away the argument the SEC always has is well at the end of the year, you know, we're cannibalizing each other and that's why they don't want the extra conference game and blah blah blah blah blah. The SEC's so tough because it means more and now the Big Ten is going in and saying, Hey, we have two of the past three we have to pass the three last national champions. And they were all different. And they're all playing each other this year. And it you know, they're they're the Big Ten is getting better and better and better and better. And the SEC is just kind of staying stagnant. They're not really getting better. Georgia's not getting any better. They're Micaiah: Yeah, right. Roberto Con Queso: just there. They're still very good, they're just there. Alabama certainly has not gotten any better. You could essentially make the judgment they've gotten worse. LSU has been LSU mid. Micaiah: But I'm also not gonna sit here, Robert, and and kid and kid myself and say, yeah, everyone's going ten and two, right? Michigan's gonna go ten and two, Ohio State's gonna go ten no. If everyone's going ten and two, then someone's losing a bunch of games. All right. So I I think we covered kind of the the let's just I I think I would do a disservice because USC is being talked about. This is Lincoln Riley. There are rumors, hot seat, seat starting to get a little warm. San Jose, Francisco State, Louisiana. Easy non-conference. They're all at home. They're putting up a million points. Then they go at Ruckers. That's 330 on CBS. So great job, CBS. Let's put big time on CBS at 330. Okay. L O L. Then they get Oregon, Washington, Penn State, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Indiana, Maryland, UCLA. So the t the meat of that schedule, Oregon, Washington, at Penn State, at Wisconsin, home to Ohio State at Indiana. Is USC contending? Roberto Con Queso: I wanna know side mission. I wanna know how Micaiah: Okay. I love side missions. Roberto Con Queso: Michigan, Oregon, Indiana, Ohio State and USC have gauntlets to run through. And Penn State has nothing. Micaiah: I I'll tell you, it's kind of the point I was talking about. Those are the top five finishers last year in the Big Ten. Indiana, Ohio State, Oregon, USC, and Michigan. That those were your top five. The Big Ten is literally just saying, you want to be big boys. We're giving you big boys schedule. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, okay, that makes sense. Micaiah: Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: But then I feel like they're creating Micaiah: Parody. That's what they're Roberto Con Queso: Well, Micaiah: doing. Roberto Con Queso: something like Penn State who they're gonna they win all their games except they lose, you know, they say they've got their ten and two and they lose to USC and Michigan, which at that point would you have rather have kept James Franklin because it's the same goddamn result as before. But, you know, it's probably cheaper. Micaiah: Yeah. Hey, Robert, Robert. That's logic. What do we what do we say about logic? We're not doing that. Roberto Con Queso: You know. But you know you're gonna go and say, well, now Penn State needs to be in that conversation too and it's like, Well, I mean, okay, they they beat Wisconsin after they just fired Luke Fickle, you know, it's Micaiah: It it's it's gonna be fascinating. I didn't until I we sat down and we did all the schedules and and I kinda that's why I went through all these schedules because like I noticed that the big the top of the big ten is just going through all of them are going through gauntlets. I mean, okay, Indiana is playing again, no one in the non-con, but then the meat of their schedule at Nebraska, Ohio State, at Michigan, Minnesota, USC. At Washington perdon. They could be looking at two, three losses too. The the entire top of the Big Ten is two or three losses. Now the season starts, injuries happen, coaches get fired, blah, blah, blah. You're looking up and you expected Michigan to be 10 and 2, and all of a sudden Michigan is 2 and 8 when you play them. And it's like, all right, this is also why, and we're just gonna well, we won't. Well here's what I want to do. We're going to before we roll into the next topic, Rob, time to put money where the mouth is. Who are your two teams competing for the Big Ten title in Indy? Roberto Con Queso: Ohio State and Oregon. Micaiah: I until proven otherwise, I cannot and will not pick against Kirk Sainetti. What he's done at the place he's done in, Indiana had the most losses in all of college football history at one point when he took over. We are now in then in two years won a national title. So Indiana is gonna be one of my teams. If maybe my did you work? There we go. Okay. Indiana's gonna be one of my teams. And then I Just to be different, I am going I think organ gets it done. Let me look at their schedule again. They get Ohio State. they're on the road, but they get Michigan at home. I'm gonna go Oregon, Indiana and Oregon. I'm gonna pull it. Roberto Con Queso: All right, so we both said Oregon. Micaiah: Mm-hmm. Yeah. And then just a different red team that they face. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, different rates. Micaiah: all right. So you mentioned the standings. Coach's poll came out today. I wanna go on record. I hate preseason polls. I think you are the same. Do you? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, I think there should only be one poll. And it should be Micaiah: Calls football playoff. Roberto Con Queso: the playoff like this. Like there shouldn't be a coaches poll, there shouldn't be a media poll. It should be this is the college football playoff poll. And every week they can do the poop the football college football playoff broadcast that they want to do because the games mean the same amount week one that they do in week twelve. Micaiah: I'm not a big fan of preseason pulls. I mean, I'm preseason pulls mattered when you knew returning production. And you knew sophomores under Ryan Day were going to mature and their junior seasons were going to be breakout seasons. But when Ryan Day, and I'm and I'm just picking a random coach, when Ryan Day brings in 15 transfers, that at Marshall they had a good sophomore season, but you don't you You haven't spent the last two years watching them. And do not kid yourself. The people voting in these polls did not spend the last two years watching the kid who transferred to big name school insert big name school here. They did not spend the last two years watching him, so they don't know. So these preseason polls mean even less to me now. We should outlaw them. I don't think there should be a poll until week four. I don't think until people get through non-con and play a game. In their conference, should we be ranking teams? Non-con, you kind of figure out okay, the offense looks good, defense looks tightened up. Yes, against lesser competition, but it looks nice, right? And then they play that first conference game, and it's like, that's great. Everything that we saw in non-con, they look great against a conference opponent. Boom, let's put let's put them at two, let's put them at 15, wherever. So these coaches pull mean very little to me. But It's college football, and we are mostly college football. So this is the top 10 in order. Does not mean I agree with it, and we'll get into that. Ohio State, Oregon, Georgia, Texas, Notre Dame, that's five. Indiana, Miami, AM, Oklahoma, Old Miss, hard stop at 10. Notable people outside the top 10, Alabama, Texas Tech, LSU. Michigan and USC. Problems with the top ten. Let's start there. Roberto Con Queso: I'm surprised but like not surprised with Indiana Notre Dame. I think Notre Dame's getting a lot of love just because they're having a returning quarterback from the that was there last year, compared to Indiana. But other than that, I'm not like too I'm not too hung up on the top ten right now. Ohio State at one is fine. You know, they they probably have the right. Micaiah: Best player in the country. Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: Oregon at two. I mean could you flip Georgia and Oregon? Probably, but you know, you don't know Micaiah: I find it very Roberto Con Queso: the Micaiah: I find it very fascinating that Indiana six, but they received the second most first place votes. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Yeah, so I don't know how they figure that then, are they just like well we really want them to be number one, so let's put six. Micaiah: I think it's again, personal opinion, I think it's really disrespectful to w because of what he's done at the place he's done it to rank Kirk St. Netty that low. Like I like Indiana's gonna come out and score 69,000 points a game in the non-continent through the like first five weeks. Like they're not gonna be tested until the middle of October. And by the time that they're gonna be like the number two or three team in the nation because maybe Texas has lost by then. Maybe Oklahoma has lost by you know, like like some teams might have losses. And then they'll be number two or three until we find out who they really are. So just start them there. I would rather have a team ranked too high to start and slip because of their conference and people playing tougher or their non con and people playing tougher games jumps them. Is that a fair s way to put that, I guess? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. I mean yeah, 'cause you could I mean I also kinda yeah, you you c they really honestly could have put Indiana as one and Ohio State as two if they really 'cause I mean, yeah, you're saying okay, Ohio State is better than you right now. Which maybe they are. We don't know. Micaiah: Right. Roberto Con Queso: But I don't it's just I don't know. I guess I I guess a gripe would be Oregon. Oregon if you would move Oregon to six and Indiana to two, sure. We can roll with that 'cause that Oregon was the like the number two or number three Big Ten school. Micaiah: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Roberto Con Queso: So then it might make sense. Micaiah: You're just You're not a fan of Oregon. You hate the Oregon hype. You really do. And I and I'm not blaming Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Micaiah: you for it. Roberto Con Queso: Because right now to me, Oregon is how Miami was. The media was like, Miami's back, Miami's back, Miami's back, and they would be like they would get all the love and all the votes to climb all the way up in this top twenty five. And then they would lose like two games and it's like, nope, they're back to being whatever. Where Oregon gets all this love, but they haven't Proved anything. Like they won the Big Ten once and then got punched in the face, had their girlfriend stolen twice, and got their lunch money stolen from them, sand kicked in their face, and Dan Lanning still is just like, Yeah, we're great, we're a great Micaiah: W Roberto Con Queso: team. Micaiah: the they weren't even close games. Roberto Con Queso: No, they got blown out. It that's why I'm like Micaiah: Flying here. Roberto Con Queso: Or Oregon is a team that you are putting high up there for who they could be, but at the end of the season, they'll probably still finish in the top ten because that's just how it is. But they don't make it past anywhere in the playoffs when it matters. Micaiah: 11 to 19, 11 to 20 is filled with teams that I think at you're looking up at the end of the season, like, yeah, they had a great season. Alabama, Texas Tech, LSU, USC, BYU, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, Washington, SMU. If at the end of the season any one of those are between five and eight seeds, that checks out. I think that's a really, really strong goal. I would even go out on a limb to say more teams from eleven through twenty will make the playoff over teams in the top ten. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah I could say it. Micaiah: That's a hot take. It's it's a hot take, but I'm gonna say it. I'm gonna say it. Roberto Con Queso: You're gonna say hey, live and die by the sword, brother. Micaiah: Live and die by the sword. one team's in in the in the top 15 that we that we're gonna have to talk about. We posted a clip on TikTok. Thank you everyone for the engagement on TikTok. And we was one of us here, and I won't name names, but one of us here said that. Lane Kiffin was the SEC version of James Frank. And TikTok, specifically the LSU fan base, didn't take too kindly into that. A lot of them bookmarked that saying we'll be back, which I think is a giant waste of time for a podcast page that has two hundred and forty some subscribers on TikTok. But thank you for the engagement. We appreciate it. But I did some digging, light digging. Robert has more info here, and I'm gonna let him talk. Lane Kiffin is 11 and 24 versus the top 25 life at Old Miss. When he was at Old Miss, he's 11 and 24. You cannot give me lesser talent going up again. He had lesser talent, so he just that's why he didn't win the top 25 games. Good coaches, Kough Kough, Kirk, Zignetti. Elevate mediocre talent to elite talent. LSU fans, you are wrong. Historically, your school, yes. You see the block you pick on the block is better than Michigan in the last 25 years. But let's not get it twisted. Since everyone was allowed to pay players, your school is below mediocre. Your school is not feared in Death Valley. And now you go out and you get a coach where every time he leaves, the world blows up or the campus blows up hyperbole. And about three years in, someone's not achieving, someone's drunk, someone is just hitting on females he shouldn't be. So if you're gonna sit here and tell me that Lane Kiffin is going to change LSU and be Nick Saban, I'm here to tell you you're dead wrong. Robert, hit him with some facts. Roberto Con Queso: You know, I didn't have a problem with LSU. It was mainly Lane Kiffin. But since Since apparently I I was going at LSU. all the LSU fan base out there, check back December fifth. That's a Saturday at four o'clock when you're watching someone else hoist a trophy. Micaiah: I love it. Roberto Con Queso: Okay? Lane's never beaten Alabama. Micaiah: That's interesting. Roberto Con Queso: James Franklin at least beat Ohio State once and he beat Michigan. So at that so Micaiah: That's inter Roberto Con Queso: now already he's worse than Franklin. Micaiah: And LSU does play Alabama this year, just letting you know. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, I mean I'll I will go ahead and I will pencil that in as a loss for LSU. Micaiah: Well that's one loss already. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. I'm I w hey, I will give him this according to this as of twenty eleven twenty five twenty five. It says he has beaten Tennessee one time. He's one and against Tennessee, which I'm actually surprised. Not Micaiah: Well that's very well, me me too. Roberto Con Queso: n not that he beat but that they only played Tennessee one time. Which is weird. Micaiah: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Same. Same. They play Tennessee though, at Tennessee the twenty first of November. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. he was also three and three against LSU. Micaiah: Okay, well thankfully he doesn't have to play himself. Roberto Con Queso: Right. So when he goes and plays Ole Miss, you might want to pencil in for the next six years, you're probably going three and three. Micaiah: I think that that might be fair to say. Roberto Con Queso: What else have we got here? Georgia. apparently he is one and two against Georgia. Micaiah: Thankfully he doesn't have to play Georgia this year, Rob. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Yeah, that's a and he was one and two against Florida. Micaiah: well, Miss is out on Florida. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, so If you take those and put them up next to James Franklin and you say, man, James Franklin, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible. He went ten and two. He would have one loss, but he would always lose to Ohio State and he would always lose to Michigan. But he did beat them before. LSU's not going to win an SEC championship if you can't beat Bama. He can't win the big games. And until he proves he can win those big games, LSU's not going anywhere. You might as well have rehired Brian Kelly. Micaiah: I wanna look back. Two years ago, Ole Miss. They had a great team. Last year, he bailed. Probably I I'm gonna I'm gonna get down. I'm gonna go out on the limb. I think LSG or Ole Miss would have beaten Miami and probably would have beaten then Indiana and they have would have won a national championship. I am on that horse. I think that's how hot Trinidad Chambliss, Lane Kiffin, And Charlie Weiss Jr. were at calling place last year. They were incredibly hot. They were the hottest offensive trio all year last year. Okay. Their only loss was a 35-43 loss to Georgia. But everything after that, it was win. They could run the ball. Chambliss threw well. It was all gone. But let's go back to two years ago. Jackson Dart, he had maybe his best team, he would have had. He was the Portal King. Walter Nolan Jr., They had a Robert Parish was there, Harris was there. They had a they were a stacked team. And I just want to remind LSU fans of a few things. Kentucky. By the way, Kentucky that year, not very good. That was a 20 to 17 loss. You then went to LSU to play your arch rivals. You shot the bet in overtime, 29-26. Then you went to play Florida. Robert, can you remind me when the last time Florida was good? Roberto Con Queso: Man, I wanna say Tim Tebow played for him. Micaiah: Okay, great. twenty four seventeen on the road and the swing. So if you just think that you're gonna bring in a whole bunch of transfers and Sam Levitt, I'm not here to hate on Sam Levitt, but I'm saying that Jackson Dart Trinidad Chambliss were better talents than Sam Levitt. Stop me if I'm wrong. They so you are taking a lesser quarterback and playing a schedule that is tougher this year as the LSU Tigers. And you just think you're gonna walk right into Athens. First of all, you gotta take on Clemson. By the way, underdog Dabo Sweeney is probably the most feared man on the planet. And that's what he's got this year. You then have to go back to your hometown where Lane Kiffin is going to need a bulletproof vest and the Pope's glass box around him 120% of the time. He is going to need armed security guard on the sideline to an in order to coach that game. You then get called you then get Texas AM at home. Okay. Good luck, Mike Elko's defense. We'll give you a break with Will Stein. and Kentucky, Mississippi State, you've dominated, so that'll be easy peasy for you. You go to the plain Auburn, Alabama who you never beat, Texas, Sarkin Arch, you gotta go to Rocky Top and to Arkansas. Roberto Con Queso: Not an easy road at all. Micaiah: I want I really want an legitimate, level headed LSU fan, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, to comment on one of these videos on the podcast page, send me a DM, anything, the realistic s record for LSU this upcoming season. Because I'm looking at three losses. I think you lose to Bama and Texas in back to back weeks. And then I think you drop either Old Miss or an A So that's three right there. And that's if you start off hot against Clemson. That's if Josh Highpool doesn't have Rocky Top Tempo working. Three losses, LSU. You don't hate that? Roberto Con Queso: No, I mean I three I would say three minimum. Micaiah: Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: Like they they could lose more. It's it's not gonna be out of the realm. And generally in the first year we you know, you try to give them some slack. You try and give them some slack because the first year Micaiah: Yeah. Lane's even saying we gotta develop. It's can't be championship or nothing, right? Roberto Con Queso: But because of this fan base, you're not getting any slack. Micaiah: No. And you do it to your Roberto Con Queso: This like Micaiah: and they do it to themselves. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Micaiah: Tw twelve and twelve and then they nine and three. Robert, and let's just say that it's a three point loss to the A and it's a seven point loss to Bama, and it's a four point loss to Texas. Fifteen points. Three losses, fifteen points. That's a great season. You might, depending how on how the rest of the country be shaken up, be knocking on the door trying to get into the college football playoff at three losses in pulling Alabama from last year. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. He has the luxury of being in a conference that is going to be so good that three losses is very good. Three losses anywhere else in the country, even the Big Ten. Well, SEC and the Big Ten, if you have three losses, you have a real good shot of still getting in. Outside of those two. Not it's not looking great. Micaiah: they are mostly college football, public enemy number one for the season. That has been decided. We we're sorry. I was o Roberto Con Queso: It used to be Notre Dame. Micaiah: I Yeah, yeah. And we're even Michigan Roberto Con Queso: used to be no name. It wa it was Ohio State for a hot minute. But no no. Micaiah: fans. Roberto Con Queso: You you wanted you wanted the heat, you're getting it from from now until what, December fifth at four PM? Micaiah: You you know who the biggest winner of this is? Roberto Con Queso: Alabama. Micaiah: Kaylin DeBore. Because Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, because I'm not going after him now. Micaiah: you're not going after him. I I I'm all good if you're in the comments. Seriously. Robert, if you're gonna be in the comments, right, and you're gonna be like, I don't agree with that comment, right? That's that what I have a problem with in we no the number one. Hit us with the make podcast equipment more expensive. First of all, come up with a new like I've heard that too many times. Be better. Be more original. You gotta be the dumbest people on the planet. You never watch college football. Don't accuse me of never watching college football. You only watch your team. I watch the whole country. We watch the whole country. Roberto Con Queso: As long as I can. Micaiah: as long right. No, you're right. Roberto Con Queso: Not a ten o'clock game. I don't care I don't care who good you are. Micaiah: Right. So I I just like if you want to make a valid argument in in our comment section, go for it. But the minute you say I don't put in time that I'm I don't know that I'm of course you bring my school into it that I love, right? Like your opinion immediately goes in one ear, out the other, and you become public enemy number one. Get out of your mom's basement, watch some cunt. College football around the country. Watch college football for twelve straight hours and then get back to me. And watch multiple games at the same time and then get back to me. And then we can have a argument. LSU fans, you are delusional. You're losing. I'll be nicer, two games minimum. And Lane Kiffin isn't gonna be your savior. Roberto Con Queso: And again, nothing wrong with LSU. Micaiah: Nothing wrong with LSU. Roberto Con Queso: It's everything wrong with Kiffen, and now the fan base. I still Micaiah: Yes. Yes. Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: like LSU. I loved them in twenty nineteen with Joey B and everyone else. It was great. There's Micaiah: so fun to watch. So fun. Roberto Con Queso: nothing better than watching them beat Alabama. Totally fine with it. But now you wanted the smoke. And you're getting Micaiah: Yeah. So Roberto Con Queso: it all season. Micaiah: so you can come get it. by the way, next year I'm probably picking Lane Kiffin to win the national championship. But then two years after that, I'm picking him to be Jimbo Fisher Award for Fired by week six. That that's just how this relationship is going. I've spoiled the end of the book, LSU fans. I've spoiled the end of the book for ya, and yet you're still hating me for it. So you can come back to this. When in four years in 2030, you're starting a new coach. Okay. So what LSU public enemy number one. what else we got on the docket? Robert, class of twenty twenty two got an injunction. Did you see this? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, they got the the extra year, right? Micaiah: Correct. So NCAA came out and said, listen, you get five years to play five years of college football. The five years start either on your nineteenth birthday or after you graduated high school, whichever comes first. I'm good with that. So there's no more red shirting. There's no more medical waivers. You get five years to play five. I'm good with this. I don't need any more sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh, twelfth year seniors. I don't need people going for their doctorates still playing college football. What I thought would be smart, and the NCAA and everyone's the NCAA judges being on I I've seen both sides of this argument. Judges being unfair, fair again, going against the NCAA. the NCAA always loses in court. Those are the two sides I'm seeing. I'm going to take the stand for this one that the NCAA, this is another example of the A NCAA, NCLL falling a day late dollar short and having no foresight. You're going to do the five for five rule. Then take it back to who could be fifth year seniors this year and say they can all be grandfathered in. So classes from the 2022 class should get a fifth year of eligibility. Just like next year, the class of twenty-three should get it, and the class of twenty-four, twenty-five, twenty-six. And now we're up to speed. Is it really like, am I wrong in thinking? that I don't think that this was that hard for the NCAA to don't implement it starting in twenty seven. Take it back five years ago and say, okay, going back twenty twenty two, everyone forward, here we go. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, no, I don't think you're crazy for thinking that at all. I mean I don't know I don't know. I don't I don't n understand the rationale behind why they're doing what they do, or they try to do what they do, how they decided for next year to that's when we do this. I don't know. I'm I would be okay if they would go back five years and do it the way that you're talking. But again. As you said, we don't use line. Micaiah: Yeah. what I do hate is the judge used the irreparable harm argument that the same Texas judge used in the Brendan Soresby case. And it's like, no, I've heard this before. I understand people like you could literally come at that judge needed to come out and say, This is common sense. They're implementing five for five. They need to go back five years and letting all everyone who haven't hasn't played a fifth year of college football yet to play college football. And that would be the class of twenty two. So I'm actually okay with this injunction. Out of all the injunctions, this is the one that happened this offseason. I'm okay with this. Now, what it does do is. Kids who weren't drafted and not on NFL rosters, so undrafted and unsigned NFL free agents who haven't signed with a team can enroll for fall camp. I don't know if any of those have happened yet. I haven't seen any news, but technically. Say Northwestern needs a quarterback, defensive tackle, they could go find someone who hasn't played fifth year of college football and said, Hey, you can do walk on. We'll, we'll, we'll pay for your school. That'll be your NIL, or get NIL Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Micaiah: for someone to pay for a school. And now they have a backup tackle. So I think it's gonna be a very interesting, it's almost like free agency hit college football, which is kind of weird. And I kind of don't like free, you know, I don't like free agent, but it is like that. If free agency has hit college football. Right. At least at least for this season. Now, what I would like to know is an injunction means the the lawsuit's gonna be heard later. So in about six months, we'll or next year, whenever, we'll figure out the details of this. But then let's so if the if they win that case, does the class of twenty twenty three have to sue, or does it just set up for twenty three, twenty four, twenty five, those class and twenty six, those classes? Roberto Con Queso: I'm gonna imagine every year it's gonna be the same thing. Twenty Micaiah: Awesome. Great. Roberto Con Queso: twenty three is probably gonna sue. We get through that season. Twenty twenty four is gonna sue. We get through that season. 'Cause it Unless they blatantly just come out and like fix it, like this is what it's gonna do. Micaiah: Yeah. they're the NCLL for a reason. They pick up L's in court. They can't do anything right. They can't get out of their way. Charlie Baker, just have some foresight. Like I'm a mid Roberto Con Queso: Just fix Micaiah: I'm a mid level manager, dude. And I s and I I thought it was so common sense to me, Robert, that I thought that that's how it was going to work from the very beginning. So when this news came down, I was like, wait, wasn't that a thing already? And then I read it and I was like, that's so dumb. That's how like common sense is I thought it was going to be that. Robert, you got any updates on patches for teams? Roberto Con Queso: I have not seen anything new other than there was an article, it was front front rest sports, I wanna say. they were talking about the valuation of certain schools like Texas, Ohio State, no how I say Texas, Alabama, Michigan. I think there was a fourth one. They were saying that the Micaiah: I I did you say Penn State? You told me Penn State earlier. Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: Might have been Penn State. Yeah, might have been Penn State. the valuation for what they could get Jersey patch wise is up to thirty million, which generally makes sense. The unfortunate thing for Ohio State is they were one of the first ones. Micaiah: Yeah, they went first. Roberto Con Queso: So, you know, they c any like Alabama, they could turn around and say, Listen, if I if Ohio State's getting eighteen, we're at least getting twenty eight, thirty. You know, so If Michigan gets a Jersey patch, I would have to assume it's gonna be in the twenties, maybe twenty. I w I would imagine it's close to Ohio State, but maybe a little bit more. Cause when we and then of course we are going over Micaiah: So north north of Notre Dame. Roberto Con Queso: what was Notre Dame's? eighteen. Twenty. Micaiah: Twenty. Twenty. Roberto Con Queso: I would say they might they would probably be on par, if not a little more. Micaiah: Okay. Right. Roberto Con Queso: Like if they came out and they said Michigan got one for twenty one, I'd be like Make sense. Okay. Micaiah: Yeah, right. Roberto Con Queso: If they came out and they said Michigan got one for thirty, I'd be like, Okay, now they're overpaying. Micaiah: Sure, right. Yeah. That's a lot of money. Roberto Con Queso: Because that's is is any sch yeah, is any school really worth that? it's a lot of money to be dishon Micaiah: Yeah yeah. Roberto Con Queso: every year. Micaiah: some interesting one. Memphis got one with FedEx. USAA is both Army and Air Force, however, not Navy yet. Question mark. Roberto Con Queso: I I'm I'm going to assume that Navy's probably going to end up with them. This might not be yet. I'm actually surprised that it's not like Northrop Gummon and Boeing, you know, the ones that make the weapons Micaiah: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Roberto Con Queso: like the ones that are actually military style, like, you know Micaiah: They I wonder if because they are government funded if they're not allowed because USAA is for Roberto Con Queso: That could Micaiah: mil for military, I wonder if th that's like the exception. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, that could be. Yeah, think about it that way. Micaiah: I again I I yeah, I don't I don't know. Wyoming is tall grass. I don't know what they are. I just it that's gotta be farm related. I just love that. Memphis is FedEx. LSU is Woodside Energy. Wisconsin is call culvers. We covered a lot of these last weeks. Kansas is XRP. Tampa General Hospital. That is South Florida. So I'm sorry, nurses, that you're only getting pizza this year because all your bonuses went to put a patch on University of South Florida's football team. There's a joke there for all my nursing and healthcare friends. Roberto Con Queso: It it says Navy's Navy's football jerseys patch sponsors USAA. Five year ten Micaiah: Okay. This Roberto Con Queso: million. Micaiah: this is an interesting one. Louisiana Monroe, Samaritan Purse. Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: purse like P U R S E Micaiah: Yeah, it's it's like they're like a humanitarian missionary type organization. I think who was the big his last name was Graham. He founded it, I'm pretty sure. Samaritan Not Jimmy Graham. Founder. no, it was bot fr Franklin Graham took over leadership and he he's Big in the Christian community. The Graham family is big in the Christian community. For those of you that don't know. That's just very odd that Samaritan purse Is Louisiana Monroe? But this was actually back Roberto Con Queso: Interesting. Micaiah: in February. Roberto Con Queso: And it's just football. Micaiah: In all seriousness, it's a great organization. based in Boone, North Carolina, Samaritan Persis of Christian Relief, and Eve even gel Liz. I don't think that's a word I'm not gonna be able to pronounce. I can read, I just can't pronounce organization that responds to physical and spiritual needs of individuals in crisis situations, especially located Where a few others are working. They're led by Franklin Graham. Samaritan Purse works in more than a hundred countries and provide aid in Jesus' name to victims of war, disease, poverty, famine, persecution. for more information, visit Sam Samaritanspurse.org, sponsor of Samaritan Purse. interesting sponsor for a college football team. I think that's fair to say. I think that'll do it. Unless if you got something else, Bob. Roberto Con Queso: No, it's everything for me, my man. Micaiah: the Red Sox are the hottest team in baseball. They are up six nothing on the White Sox. Boy. It's good to be a Sox fan right now. and that's why we're mostly college football. Got a little baseball Roberto Con Queso: Mostly Micaiah: in. Roberto Con Queso: not a hundred percent according to LSU fans. Micaiah: According to LSU fans. thank you everyone for being here. wash your hands, you filthy animals, of course. We will be back next week. Hopefully all three of us. Until then, God bless you. Peace out. Deuces.
