- 0:33Speaker 3: directly to your phone right now. It's also on our podcast.
- 0:35Speaker 3: If you go to podcastjohnjanrichondemand, you can listen to it. Kyle,
- 0:38Speaker 3: what do we need to know today?
- 0:39Speaker 1: If you use your phone to pay for practically everything,
- 0:43Speaker 1: Apple Pay could be getting some serious competition. So regulators
- 0:46Speaker 1: in the UK want Apple to make it easier for
- 0:48Speaker 1: other payment apps like PayPal and Klarna. to offer that
- 0:52Speaker 1: same tap-to-pay feature that's not available right now. And if
- 0:56Speaker 1: it does go through, like I said, it's just in
- 0:58Speaker 1: the UK right now, but that may mean more options
- 1:01Speaker 1: for the rest of us very soon. In the meantime,
- 1:03Speaker 1: word has it that Apple will be announcing a Touch
- 1:07Speaker 1: MacBook Pro, like a touchscreen MacBook Pro.
- 1:10Speaker 4: About time.
- 1:10Speaker 1: They announced like a new product thing October 28th, and
- 1:13Speaker 1: that's one of the things that's going to be, that's
- 1:15Speaker 1: rumored to be coming out.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Yeah, that'll be.
- 1:17Speaker 4: That'll be cool because it could be like an iPad
- 1:19Speaker 4: and a computer.
- 1:20Speaker 2: All in one. Yeah, it's not like they haven't invented
- 1:21Speaker 2: that with an iPad.
- 1:22Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:23Speaker 2: You can do it with another.
- 1:24Speaker 4: They have like the little magnetic cases that you can
- 1:26Speaker 4: type away with.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Time to put it together.
- 1:28Speaker 2: That makes sense.
- 1:29Speaker 1: The Tampa Bay Rays beat Cleveland 7-3 last night to
- 1:31Speaker 1: punch their ticket to the World Series where they will
- 1:33Speaker 1: face the Milwaukee Brewers. Here's what makes this so cool.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Neither team has ever won a World Series. So somebody
- 1:40Speaker 1: is about to make franchise history when the series begins.
- 1:42Speaker 2: On Friday in Milwaukee. What if it's a draw?
- 1:45Speaker 1: Then they both win, I guess.
- 1:46Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Costco wants to take care of your Thanksgiving dinner without
- 1:50Speaker 1: having to spend the entire day in the kitchen. They've
- 1:52Speaker 1: got a $ 200 meal that feeds eight people. So you
- 1:56Speaker 1: get turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, mac and cheese, green bean casserole, rolls,
- 2:00Speaker 1: and two desserts. Most of it just needs to be
- 2:03Speaker 1: heated up so it's already cooked. Here's a comparison though.
- 2:06Speaker 1: If you're willing to do the cooking on your own,
- 2:08Speaker 1: you could save yourself a lot of money because I
- 2:10Speaker 1: told you a week ago, Aldi is selling the ingredients
- 2:12Speaker 1: for Thanksgiving dinner for 10 for less than 39 bucks.
- 2:16Speaker 1: So the extra money is basically paying for Costco to
- 2:19Speaker 1: cook everything and do most of the work. Now imagine
- 2:22Speaker 1: driving through Phoenix on a Saturday night, going the speed
- 2:25Speaker 1: limit and suddenly a speed camera flashes at you. Well,
- 2:28Speaker 1: apparently that happened to a bunch of drivers because Six
- 2:31Speaker 1: of the school zone cameras were malfunctioning and acting like
- 2:34Speaker 1: school was in session when it wasn't. So all these
- 2:36Speaker 1: people were getting speeding tickets that.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Weren't actually speeding.
- 2:39Speaker 1: The good news is the city says any tickets from
- 2:42Speaker 1: the mistake were rejected. So you shouldn't be getting fined
- 2:45Speaker 1: for something you didn't do. So just sigh of relief
- 2:47Speaker 1: on that one. If you bought a Powerball ticket for
- 2:51Speaker 1: Monday's drawing, check it. Because there are multiple tickets out
- 2:55Speaker 1: there in Arizona worth as much as $ 250, 000. Monday like yesterday?
- 3:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Check those tickets.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I bought some last week. Check it. Check the tickets.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Yeah. Still check your tickets if you bought them last week, too,
- 3:07Speaker 1: because you never know.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I mean, you're going to be missing out on some cash.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I'm really good at buying them, and then I'm too
- 3:11Speaker 2: lazy to go back. I know.
- 3:12Speaker 1: A lot of people don't check their tickets, and you
- 3:14Speaker 1: could be leaving money on the table. But there is
- 3:17Speaker 1: a lot of drama surrounding that $ 12. 8 million ticket that
- 3:21Speaker 1: was sold at a Scottsdale Circle K. You remember this story?
- 3:24Speaker 1: Customer went in, wanted $ 85 worth of QuickPix. and only
- 3:28Speaker 1: had 60 bucks, so she had to leave a bunch
- 3:30Speaker 1: of the tickets behind, right? Well, the drawing happened, and
- 3:34Speaker 1: the manager at that Circle K realized one of those
- 3:37Speaker 1: tickets won almost $ 13 million, clocked out, put on regular clothes,
- 3:41Speaker 1: bought that ticket for 10 bucks, and now says the
- 3:44Speaker 1: money's his. But Circle K says, according to store policy,
- 3:48Speaker 1: any tickets left behind now belong to the company. So
- 3:52Speaker 1: now Circle K and this manager and another employee are
- 3:54Speaker 1: going to court over whose money is it.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess you'd have to if you're up for
- 3:59Speaker 2: $ 12 billion. You've got to go to court.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Because what, the guy is like finders keepers?
- 4:03Speaker 2: That's his mentality?
- 4:03Speaker 1: Well, the manager says that it was like an unwritten
- 4:06Speaker 1: store policy that tickets that are left behind could be
- 4:10Speaker 1: bought by employees if they clock out and have regular
- 4:13Speaker 1: street clothes on as if they're coming in circle K.
- 4:15Speaker 3: I think it has to do with whatever the, in
- 4:16Speaker 3: my opinion, if I was the judge, I'd be like, well,
- 4:18Speaker 3: what is the lottery policy? Your store policy can be
- 4:21Speaker 3: whatever it is.
- 4:22Speaker 1: And that's maybe what it comes down to. But yeah,
- 4:24Speaker 1: it's the drama's heating up and it's like they couldn't
- 4:27Speaker 1: figure it out. So now it's going to court. And
- 4:29Speaker 1: that's what you need to know.
- 4:30Speaker 2: So I was telling you guys about the costume that
- 4:32Speaker 2: I created and invented this morning, the Ella Fangley. It's
- 4:36Speaker 2: very genius. Thank you. In a new survey, get this.
- 4:39Speaker 2: It says, what's stressing you out right now?
- 4:41Speaker 3: Deadlines, looking for a job, money, dating, your parents, your kids, travel,
- 4:46Speaker 3: or picking out a Halloween costume right now. women are
- 4:49Speaker 3: more stressed out over picking out a costume than men,
- 4:52Speaker 3: than right now, than anything else that's going on.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Makes sense to me. Because you've got to look cool,
- 4:56Speaker 2: but you've got to be comfortable. It's got to be different. Well,
- 4:59Speaker 2: it's funny.
- 4:59Speaker 3: It goes, for people who have decided, here are the
- 5:02Speaker 3: looks they're going for. 49% of people say their costume
- 5:05Speaker 3: is simple. That was my Ella Fangley thing, my pitch
- 5:08Speaker 3: to you, which is simple. I think that's a big
- 5:10Speaker 3: part of it because you're going to be in that
- 5:11Speaker 3: for several hours. Simple, comfortable, I'd say, if you're going
- 5:15Speaker 3: to do it that way. The rest of them go,
- 5:16Speaker 3: it's creative, it's funny, unique, relevant, scary, sexy. And 3%
- 5:22Speaker 3: of people say their costume is extravagant.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Ooh. Extravagant.
- 5:26Speaker 4: I know there's people that work like months and months
- 5:29Speaker 4: in advance for their big costumes.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Yeah, and those are the type of costumes that I
- 5:33Speaker 1: feel like they win at like Wicked Bomber when you've
- 5:36Speaker 1: got like $ 15, 000 in prizes they're giving away.
- 5:37Speaker 3: 52% of people are going as a fictional person or character. 14%
- 5:40Speaker 3: are going as a concept. 13% are going as an
- 5:43Speaker 3: animal or creature. 10% will be a living person. Another 10%
- 5:47Speaker 3: are going as a person from history. And another 10%
- 5:50Speaker 3: are going as an object.
- 5:52Speaker 2: I'm going as an adverb. I haven't decided which one yet. Largely, locally.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Maybe those aren't even adverbs.
