- 0:04Speaker 1: Hello friends from across the nation and around the world.
- 0:08Speaker 1: I'm Martin, and you are listening to Dad's Bedtime Stories.
- 0:13Speaker 1: And tonight, we're finally headed back to the Cards of
- 0:17Speaker 1: Power universe. And for those of you wondering why I
- 0:21Speaker 1: haven't headed back to the Dragon Knights universe for a
- 0:24Speaker 1: little while, there's a really simple answer to that. I
- 0:29Speaker 1: just haven't got the right suggestion yet. to figure out
- 0:33Speaker 1: what happens at the Air Dragon Stronghold. I set everything up,
- 0:38Speaker 1: but I just can't decide what's going to happen next.
- 0:41Speaker 1: So I'm waiting for the perfect idea for that. If
- 0:44Speaker 1: you have one, send it to me on Speakpipe. That
- 0:46Speaker 1: would be amazing. As for this episode, I did get
- 0:51Speaker 1: some suggestions. Lots of cards of power suggestions, but at
- 0:55Speaker 1: the end of the day, I decided to choose this one,
- 0:59Speaker 1: mostly so I could bring back a somewhat... long-forgotten character.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Hi, my name is Janvi, and I'm from Ontario, Canada,
- 1:11Speaker 2: and I would like a story in the Cards of
- 1:14Speaker 2: Power series where you and Magnus have to beat someone
- 1:18Speaker 2: with an ice dragon that can freeze the whole stadium
- 1:22Speaker 2: so all the cold air turns warm, and can also
- 1:28Speaker 2: make icicles that that can drop from the ceiling and
- 1:32Speaker 2: there's also a nine-tailed fox but it is made of
- 1:36Speaker 2: candy so it can trap you in sticky chocolate or
- 1:42Speaker 2: and it can also shoot hard candy from its mouth
- 1:48Speaker 2: and it might get a sugar rush so it can
- 1:52Speaker 2: run faster and that's it bye.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Now janvi i like that idea And I, too, am
- 1:59Speaker 1: from Ontario, Canada, as you probably know. Likely a different
- 2:03Speaker 1: part of Ontario, because it's pretty big, but Ontario nonetheless.
- 2:09Speaker 1: What got me about your idea was the candy nine-tailed fox,
- 2:13Speaker 1: because when Roro and I were working on the Cards
- 2:17Speaker 1: of Power game, which you can buy on GameCrafter and
- 2:20Speaker 1: find the links to on my podcast website, by the way, dadsbedtimestories.com, Well,
- 2:27Speaker 1: we needed some balance in the game, and we needed
- 2:30Speaker 1: to find another animation-type character. I believe it was either
- 2:35Speaker 1: a deity-level character or a mythic-type character. Anyways, we went
- 2:42Speaker 1: back through the files, and we found a character, deity-level,
- 2:47Speaker 1: named Food Dude. And as far as thinking of the perfect...
- 2:52Speaker 1: perfect opponent for this particular nine-tailed candy fox, I thought
- 2:58Speaker 1: Food Dude would be the right one. Also available in
- 3:02Speaker 1: the Cards of Power game, or card game, on GameCrafter.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Order in advance. Takes a while to get printed and
- 3:11Speaker 1: sent to you. In other news, I want to let
- 3:15Speaker 1: everybody know that I just finished the very first volume
- 3:20Speaker 1: of Cards of Power the graphic novel. Story by Martin Gage,
- 3:27Speaker 1: that's me, illustrated by your future robot overlords. That's right,
- 3:34Speaker 1: I can't draw, so I decided to spend a lot
- 3:38Speaker 1: of time and effort in getting ChatGPT to create the
- 3:42Speaker 1: right number of fingers for dragons, which was really, really hard,
- 3:46Speaker 1: and shout out to Busy Dad, who went through the
- 3:50Speaker 1: first volume and counted all of the fingers and toes
- 3:52Speaker 1: and let me know which ones needed to be changed
- 3:55Speaker 1: after I did a draft. Anyways, you can get to
- 3:58Speaker 1: the link on my website, you can search for Cards
- 4:01Speaker 1: of Power the graphic novel on Amazon, or you can
- 4:05Speaker 1: actually check out a digital version on Patreon, including the
- 4:09Speaker 1: second volume, which I'm still editing for the correct number
- 4:13Speaker 1: of dragon fingers and toes, because for some reason, artificial
- 4:18Speaker 1: intelligence doesn't like keeping toes and fingers. Correct. Number-wise. Anyways,
- 4:27Speaker 1: it's about 102 pages of a graphic novel, and if
- 4:30Speaker 1: you want it, it's there. You can check out a
- 4:34Speaker 1: little bit of a preview first to see if you
- 4:36Speaker 1: want it. And if you're looking for the Kindle edition or, like,
- 4:39Speaker 1: the e-book edition, that will be coming shortly. I just
- 4:42Speaker 1: haven't had a chance to create it because you have
- 4:45Speaker 1: to kind of select each panel. It's a long story.
- 4:48Speaker 1: And speaking of stories... it's definitely time to get on
- 4:51Speaker 1: with this one. And since I basically did an advertisement
- 4:55Speaker 1: for myself, I will not insert one here. So there
- 4:59Speaker 1: you go. Just get as comfy as you can in
- 5:02Speaker 1: that bed, close your eyes, and imagine yourself doing what
- 5:07Speaker 1: the kid in the story does. Now, if you don't
- 5:14Speaker 1: recall already, you, my friend, have somehow ended up participating
- 5:20Speaker 1: in a deity-level card tournament on a distant moon that
- 5:27Speaker 1: specializes in battle. You find yourself in a luxurious alien
- 5:34Speaker 1: hotel room where you've been staying ever since the beginning
- 5:38Speaker 1: of the tournament, and you are now in the semifinals.
- 5:45Speaker 1: The last match before the final match. You stretch your
- 5:51Speaker 1: arms and legs before looking over at the other bed
- 5:55Speaker 1: where Magnus is curled up into a little ball. Good morning, Magnus.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Is it? he asks without opening his eyes. Well, I
- 6:07Speaker 1: think today's the semi-finals. Magnus's eyes shoot open. Semi-finals? Finally,
- 6:16Speaker 1: a real battle. And this time you're actually going to
- 6:21Speaker 1: use me, right? Well, honestly, that depends on what we're
- 6:25Speaker 1: up against. Magnus jumps up into the air and floats
- 6:29Speaker 1: beside you. Oh, come on. Dominic got to defeat both
- 6:35Speaker 1: opponents last time. You can't possibly leave me out again.
- 6:40Speaker 1: You laugh. All right, buddy. You're up first, even if
- 6:45Speaker 1: the other opponent makes absolutely no sense for you to
- 6:48Speaker 1: be against. Excellent. I hope they've prepared a trophy with
- 6:53Speaker 1: my name on it. Because despite what you say, there
- 6:58Speaker 1: is no opponent that makes sense for me to be
- 7:01Speaker 1: up against or doesn't make sense for me to be
- 7:06Speaker 1: up against. Right. You respond. You get dressed and head
- 7:13Speaker 1: downstairs for your usual continental breakfast, something you can never
- 7:17Speaker 1: forget in the Cards of Power universe. And after enjoying
- 7:21Speaker 1: some of your favorite foods, both your favorites from Earth
- 7:25Speaker 1: and your new, well, alien favorites, you head over to
- 7:31Speaker 1: the tournament computer and scan your identification card. Semi-final match confirmed. Opponent,
- 7:40Speaker 1: Jan Vee. You open Janvi's profile. It shows a girl
- 7:46Speaker 1: about your age standing beside an enormous dragon. A white dragon.
- 7:55Speaker 1: That looks like an ice dragon, Magnus exclaims. Oh, this
- 8:01Speaker 1: is gonna be fun. Uh, aren't you, like, super weak
- 8:07Speaker 1: against ice and water types, you say? Well, most fire
- 8:12Speaker 1: creatures are, but as you know, I'm more diverse and, well,
- 8:18Speaker 1: I've completely disintegrated several lakes in my time, which kind
- 8:24Speaker 1: of takes away their advantage, if you may remember. Right, yeah,
- 8:29Speaker 1: I guess I do remember that. You step outside and
- 8:35Speaker 1: activate your magic wings, and together with Magnus... You fly
- 8:41Speaker 1: across the alien city towards the enormous battle stadium. Luckily,
- 8:48Speaker 1: this time you're able to avoid most of the crowds
- 8:51Speaker 1: by flying and heading for the tournament entrance rather than
- 8:56Speaker 1: the main one. Before long, you've checked in, passed through
- 9:01Speaker 1: the change rooms, and stepped out into the gigantic arena,
- 9:07Speaker 1: since today... Your match is first. The crowd explodes with cheers.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, aliens from across the universe, welcome to
- 9:23Speaker 1: the semi-finals of the Galactic Deity Card Tournament. On one side,
- 9:30Speaker 1: our surprise competitor from Earth, Accompanied by the legendary dragon,
- 9:37Speaker 1: or deity-level dragon, Magnus. Magnus waves toward the audience and
- 9:46Speaker 1: the audience cheers. You're pretty sure it's going to his ego.
- 9:52Speaker 1: And on the other side, Janvi, known throughout the galaxy
- 9:58Speaker 1: for her incredible powerful and somewhat strange magical creatures. Janvi
- 10:07Speaker 1: waves to the audience before smiling across the arena at you.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Good luck, she calls toward you. You too, you respond.
- 10:19Speaker 1: the referee floats into position. Remember, competitors, one creature active
- 10:25Speaker 1: at a time, the first to defeat two opposing creatures wins. Now,
- 10:31Speaker 1: select your cards. Magnus doesn't wait a second. He flies
- 10:39Speaker 1: into the arena and begins to evolve, moving through all
- 10:44Speaker 1: of his forms. An upright dragon, into a very powerful
- 10:50Speaker 1: looking dragon, into an even more powerful and, well, pretty
- 10:56Speaker 1: well gigantic dragon covered in magma, and then he shrinks
- 11:01Speaker 1: back down a little bit into a very large black
- 11:06Speaker 1: dragon with veins of pure sunlight energy. More condensed than
- 11:13Speaker 1: the mythic form, but definitely more powerful. Janvi summons a
- 11:21Speaker 1: card of her own. Well, I think it might be
- 11:25Speaker 1: a mistake going with a fire type, at least if
- 11:29Speaker 1: you know what I'm famous for. Blue energy shoots across
- 11:35Speaker 1: the arena and begins forming into an enormous dragon. Its
- 11:41Speaker 1: scales are almost completely white, with brilliant blue veins glowing
- 11:47Speaker 1: throughout its body. Gigantic icicles protrude from its back, and
- 11:53Speaker 1: its enormous wings look almost like sheets of frozen glass. Wow,
- 12:01Speaker 1: you whisper. The dragon lets out a roar, and its
- 12:06Speaker 1: breath alone sends frost creeping across the ground. Ready, competitors,
- 12:14Speaker 1: the referee asks. Three, two, one.
- 12:20Speaker 2: BEGIN!
- 12:20Speaker 1: The ice dragon immediately unleashes a blast of pure cold energy.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Magnus doesn't even bother dodging. The blast hits him directly,
- 12:34Speaker 1: covering his entire body in a thick layer of ice. MAGNUS!
- 12:40Speaker 1: You shout, but then you hear laughter. REALLY? ICE? Magnus'
- 12:50Speaker 1: veins begin glowing brighter and brighter. The ice cracks before
- 12:56Speaker 1: exploding off of his body. Let me show you some
- 13:01Speaker 1: real elemental power. He breathes in deeply and begins absorbing
- 13:09Speaker 1: heat from the surrounding area. Strangely, well, for anybody who
- 13:15Speaker 1: doesn't know Magnus... The arena becomes even colder. Wait, he's
- 13:22Speaker 1: absorbing heat while that thing's already trying to freeze everything?
- 13:29Speaker 1: The ice dragon spreads its wings and unleashes another blast.
- 13:34Speaker 1: This time, the cold expands in every direction. The floor freezes,
- 13:41Speaker 1: the walls freeze. Even the ceiling becomes covered in gigantic icicles.
- 13:49Speaker 1: And outside the arena's protective force field, you notice something incredible.
- 13:56Speaker 1: The spectators are shivering. The Ice Dragon's powers are so
- 14:03Speaker 1: intense that even the audience is beginning to freeze. Emergency
- 14:09Speaker 1: heaters activate throughout the stadium.
- 14:12Speaker 3: Then.
- 14:13Speaker 1: The dragon roars. Hundreds of enormous icicles break away from
- 14:18Speaker 1: the ceiling and begin raining down directly towards Magnus. Though,
- 14:26Speaker 1: raining down might be the wrong word since they somehow
- 14:30Speaker 1: point directly at him, targeting the dragon. He looks up. Oh,
- 14:38Speaker 1: that's adorable. Then, His entire body lights up brighter and
- 14:46Speaker 1: brighter and brighter until he's surrounded by an enormous sphere
- 14:51Speaker 1: of pure sunlight energy, so bright that you can barely
- 14:57Speaker 1: look at it without squinting almost entirely. It's like someone
- 15:02Speaker 1: has placed a miniature sun directly inside the stadium. Magnus
- 15:09Speaker 1: really isn't holding back. The icicles melt before they even
- 15:14Speaker 1: reach him. The frozen floor begins turning to water, then steam.
- 15:20Speaker 1: The audience can feel the heat returning and, well, in fact,
- 15:26Speaker 1: they start to get a little bit warm. The emergency
- 15:30Speaker 1: heaters switch direction and start pumping cool air in instead.
- 15:37Speaker 1: The ice dragon unleashes another tremendous blast of cold, pushing
- 15:42Speaker 1: against Magnus' solar energy. For a moment, the two powers
- 15:48Speaker 1: seem evenly matched. Then, Magnus grins. You know, I've been
- 15:56Speaker 1: practicing my other elements, too. He slams a foot into
- 16:01Speaker 1: the ground. Huge vines burst upward, wrapping around the ice
- 16:07Speaker 1: dragon's legs and wings. The ice dragon tries to freeze them,
- 16:12Speaker 1: but more vines immediately replace the ones that break. Next,
- 16:18Speaker 1: Magnus summons enormous pillars of stone, which shoot up around
- 16:23Speaker 1: the dragon's legs and solidify, locking it in place. Now,
- 16:30Speaker 1: how about a little taste of electricity? Storm clouds appear overhead.
- 16:39Speaker 1: With booms, gigantic bolts of lightning crash down onto the
- 16:44Speaker 1: trapped dragon, one after another. The dragon roars, struggling to escape.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Magnus floats higher into the air. His sunlight energy gathers
- 16:58Speaker 1: around his chest and pours towards his open mouth. Time
- 17:04Speaker 1: to wrap things up. he unleashes a beam of pure
- 17:10Speaker 1: heat energy. It crashes into the ice dragon with unbelievable force.
- 17:19Speaker 1: You almost forgot how powerful Magnus had become. For several seconds,
- 17:26Speaker 1: all you can see is brilliant white light. Then, the
- 17:31Speaker 1: light disappears, and the ice dragon is... A stream of
- 17:39Speaker 1: blue energy flies across the arena and returns to Janvi's
- 17:44Speaker 1: card core. First point awarded, the referee announces, and the
- 17:51Speaker 1: crowd goes wild. Magnus looks toward you. Well, that was easy.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Don't get too confident, buddy, you say. but Magnus is
- 18:05Speaker 1: already waving at the cameras. Janvi smiles. That was impressive,
- 18:12Speaker 1: but let's see how your dragon handles this. Another card appears.
- 18:20Speaker 1: This time, the energy forms into a gigantic, nine-tailed fox.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Its fur is bright orange with white markings. and its
- 18:32Speaker 1: nine enormous tails each have a different color and texture.
- 18:38Speaker 1: One sparkles like crystals of sugar. Another looks as though
- 18:43Speaker 1: it's covered in melted chocolate. Another glows bright red like
- 18:49Speaker 1: spicy hot sauce or something. That's a strange creature, you say?
- 18:57Speaker 1: Magnus chuckles. The fox?! After that dragon? Come on. The
- 19:05Speaker 1: referee raises his hand. Round two, begin. Immediately, one of
- 19:12Speaker 1: the fox's tails points toward the ground. A stream of
- 19:17Speaker 1: sparkling white sugar shoots out of it, floating through the
- 19:22Speaker 1: air directly towards the fox's mouth. The creature opens its
- 19:28Speaker 1: mouth and gobbles up the sugar. Then, it disappears.
- 19:36Speaker 2: What?
- 19:37Speaker 1: Magnus asks. And with a bam, something hits him from behind.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Another whack, another strike connects with his shoulder. Another bam?
- 19:50Speaker 1: and the fox appears briefly in front of Magnus, smacks
- 19:54Speaker 1: him across the face with one of its tails, and
- 19:58Speaker 1: disappears again. It's moving too fast, like the sugar gave
- 20:04Speaker 1: him some sort of super speed sugar rush? Ah, yeah,
- 20:11Speaker 1: I noticed and I was thinking the same thing. Magnus
- 20:15Speaker 1: unleashes a huge blast of sunlight energy, but the fox
- 20:20Speaker 1: is already somewhere else. Then another tail raises into the
- 20:26Speaker 1: air when it stops for just a moment and a
- 20:29Speaker 1: stream of thick, melted chocolate shoots up in the sky
- 20:35Speaker 1: straight towards Magnus. Chocolate? Chocolate? Magnus laughs. Seriously? The chocolate
- 20:44Speaker 1: splashes across his wings and chest. Magnus lights up his
- 20:49Speaker 1: body to burn it away. But strangely, it doesn't disappear. His, well,
- 21:00Speaker 1: otherwise bright glow starts to get dimmer. and the chocolate
- 21:06Speaker 1: starts hardening into a thick shell around his scales. That's annoying,
- 21:14Speaker 1: Magnus mutters. He tries to move his wing, but it's
- 21:19Speaker 1: becoming stiff. And, stranger than that, Magnus stops moving normally. Ah, kid,
- 21:32Speaker 1: what's wrong? I don't Feel very good. You watch as
- 21:40Speaker 1: Magnus wobbles. My paws feel funny and I can't really
- 21:50Speaker 1: think straight. The fox appears beside him and strikes again.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Magnus tries to defend himself but his movements are slow
- 22:03Speaker 1: and clumsy. Wait a second. You look more carefully at
- 22:09Speaker 1: the chocolate. Tiny streams of glowing energy are moving through
- 22:15Speaker 1: it towards the fox. It's stealing energy from Magnus. Then
- 22:24Speaker 1: you realize what kind of energy. Sugar. It's stealing sugar
- 22:31Speaker 1: from his body. Blood sugar.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Sugar.
- 22:35Speaker 1: People need that to survive. The magical chocolate is draining
- 22:40Speaker 1: Magnus' blood sugar, weakening him from the inside. Magnus tries
- 22:47Speaker 1: to summon another blast of solar energy, but only a
- 22:52Speaker 1: little tiny puff of light appears. That's not good. He
- 23:00Speaker 1: mumbles and then collapses. His body transforms into blue energy
- 23:07Speaker 1: and returns to your card core. Second point awarded. The
- 23:13Speaker 1: match is tied. That's right, ladies and gentlemen, the announcer says.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I believe Jan V has just used her candy nine-tailed
- 23:28Speaker 1: fox's signature move. The sugar rush ends. Followed by sugar steel. Now,
- 23:37Speaker 1: if you've never experienced low blood sugar, it's probably difficult
- 23:43Speaker 1: to imagine what an incredible effect it can have. But, well,
- 23:48Speaker 1: if you know somebody with diabetes, just ask them. It
- 23:53Speaker 1: doesn't feel very good. And it also doesn't feel very
- 23:58Speaker 1: good that you have to choose one more creature... You
- 24:02Speaker 1: consider Dominic, but this fox is also incredibly fast, and
- 24:08Speaker 1: its attacks can weaken almost any living creature. Then, an
- 24:15Speaker 1: idea pops into your head. If your opponent wants to
- 24:19Speaker 1: fight using food, well, why not fight back with food?
- 24:26Speaker 1: You reach deep into your card core. SEARCHING FOR A
- 24:30Speaker 1: CREATURE YOU HAVEN'T SUMMONED IN A VERY LONG TIME. ONE
- 24:36Speaker 1: YOU ALMOST FORGOT WAS THERE. ALL RIGHT, YOU WHISPER. THIS
- 24:42Speaker 1: MIGHT BE A BIG CHANCE, BUT LET'S SEE WHAT YOU'VE GOT.
- 24:47Speaker 1: YOU SUMMON THE CARD. BLUE ENERGY SHOOTS INTO THE ARENA,
- 24:53Speaker 1: SWIRLING TOGETHER INTO AN ENORMOUS FIGURE. A gigantic, round-bellied giant
- 25:01Speaker 1: wearing a chef's hat. Food, dude, he says. Which, as
- 25:09Speaker 1: far as you know, is the only thing he can say.
- 25:12Speaker 1: The audience goes completely silent. Then, someone starts laughing. Soon,
- 25:21Speaker 1: thousands of spectators are laughing. Janvi looks confused. That's your
- 25:28Speaker 1: final creature? You smile. Yep. Food dude. The referee raises
- 25:36Speaker 1: his hand. Final round. Begin. The fox immediately unleashes a
- 25:44Speaker 1: stream of hardened chocolate. Food dude looks down as it
- 25:49Speaker 1: splashes across his enormous belly. The chocolate begins to harden.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Food Dude looks at it for a moment. Then he
- 26:00Speaker 1: opens his mouth. A gigantic sucking force begins pulling the
- 26:05Speaker 1: chocolate away from his body. Every last bit of it
- 26:10Speaker 1: flies straight into his mouth. He swallows.
- 26:15Speaker 3: Food Dude.
- 26:18Speaker 1: You laugh, though you're not entirely sure if, well, it
- 26:23Speaker 1: can still absorb his sugar from but hopefully not. The
- 26:28Speaker 1: fox growls and unleashes another attack, this time a stream
- 26:35Speaker 1: of flying hard candies. Food Dude raises a hand, and
- 26:42Speaker 1: suddenly a series of enormous pizzas appear in front of him,
- 26:47Speaker 1: each one surrounded by a different elemental power. One catches fire,
- 26:55Speaker 1: Another begins crackling with lightning. A third freezes solid. Food
- 27:01Speaker 1: Dude sends all three spinning toward the fox. The fox
- 27:06Speaker 1: jumps aside as the flaming pizza flies past, then dodges
- 27:11Speaker 1: the lightning pizza. But the frozen one explodes beside it,
- 27:17Speaker 1: sending enormous chunks of magical ice in every direction. The
- 27:22Speaker 1: fox yelps. and jumps backward. It shoots a stream of
- 27:28Speaker 1: sugar into the air once again, opens its mouth, gobbles
- 27:33Speaker 1: it down, and moves faster than anyone can see. Food
- 27:40Speaker 1: Dude spreads out both hands. Hundreds of enormous spaghetti noodles
- 27:46Speaker 1: start to shoot out of the ground somehow, wrapping themselves
- 27:51Speaker 1: in every direction. trying to create a sort of net
- 27:56Speaker 1: for the fox. For a moment, the fox gets caught
- 28:01Speaker 1: in it, and Food Dude sends a bolt of electricity
- 28:05Speaker 1: through every piece of spaghetti. The fox shakes for a
- 28:10Speaker 1: minute before disappearing from sight again. It starts racing around
- 28:17Speaker 1: the arena, ripping apart the noodles faster than Food Dude
- 28:21Speaker 1: can replace them. Then, it begins striking the enormous giant.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Food Dude stumbles backward. His eyes suddenly glow purple. The
- 28:35Speaker 1: fox rushes past, and Food Dude tries to lock eyes
- 28:39Speaker 1: with it, but the creature moves too quickly. Again, Food
- 28:45Speaker 1: Dude turns, trying to catch its gaze. The fox is
- 28:49Speaker 1: already behind him. you suddenly remember something very important about
- 28:55Speaker 1: your gigantic food-powered friend. His psychic powers. I almost forgot
- 29:01Speaker 1: he can hypnotize creatures. Food Dude's eyes glow brighter as
- 29:07Speaker 1: he attempts to focus on the fox, but even though
- 29:11Speaker 1: he can sense where it's going, it simply moves too
- 29:14Speaker 1: fast for him to hold eye contact long enough. The
- 29:18Speaker 1: fox hits him again. sending him staggering across the arena. Food, dude,
- 29:26Speaker 1: the giant says, sounding almost confused. The fox races away,
- 29:33Speaker 1: gobbles down another stream of magical, speed-enhancing sugar, and prepares
- 29:39Speaker 1: to attack.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Again.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Food Dude instead spreads his enormous arms. This time he
- 29:47Speaker 1: doesn't summon one or two foods. He summons hundreds. Gigantic
- 29:54Speaker 1: meatballs appear overhead, each one surrounded by crackling lightning. pizzas
- 30:02Speaker 1: burst into flame and begin spinning through the air. Enormous
- 30:06Speaker 1: frozen vegetables shoot up from the ground while gigantic spaghetti
- 30:11Speaker 1: noodles swirl around like enormous little wisps. The food starts
- 30:17Speaker 1: circling around Food Dude faster and faster. Before long, the
- 30:24Speaker 1: entire arena is filled with, well, an enormous tornado of
- 30:30Speaker 1: elemental food. Whoa, you say? The nine-tailed fox tries racing
- 30:39Speaker 1: through it, dodging the flaming pizzas and spinning around the meatballs.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Its sugar rush is still unbelievably powerful, but the tornado
- 30:50Speaker 1: keeps expanding. More foods are added, and they spin faster
- 30:56Speaker 1: and faster. There's Less and less room, even for a
- 31:01Speaker 1: super-speed fox to move around. The fox jumps over a
- 31:06Speaker 1: gigantic frozen broccoli, ducks underneath a flaming pizza, narrowly avoids
- 31:13Speaker 1: an electrically charged meatball. It lands on the ground, gobbles
- 31:19Speaker 1: up another stream of sugar, and shoots forward again. But
- 31:24Speaker 1: Food Dude is waiting. He directs the tornado inward, surrounding
- 31:30Speaker 1: the fox with hundreds of different attacks all at once,
- 31:34Speaker 1: with almost no space between them. And finally, a gigantic
- 31:41Speaker 1: lightning-charged meatball crashes into its side. With a boom, electricity
- 31:48Speaker 1: sparks in every direction. The fox flies out of the tornado,
- 31:54Speaker 1: stumbles across the ground... and lands on its back. For
- 31:59Speaker 1: just a moment, its nine tails stop moving, and the
- 32:04Speaker 1: creature looks up. Food Dude is standing directly in front
- 32:10Speaker 1: of it. His eyes begin glowing brilliant purple, and the
- 32:16Speaker 1: fox eyes turn purple too. Oh, he got it, you yell,
- 32:23Speaker 1: and the crowd goes silent. The fox struggles to stand,
- 32:29Speaker 1: trying to activate the sugar rush once again, but the
- 32:34Speaker 1: strange purple glow in its eyes begins growing stronger. Its
- 32:40Speaker 1: enormous tails slowly settle onto the ground. It blinks, then
- 32:48Speaker 1: blinks again. Its eyelids become heavier and heavier. and the
- 32:56Speaker 1: fox's head droops. And finally, it curls itself into a
- 33:03Speaker 1: little ball, closes its eyes, and falls fast asleep. The
- 33:11Speaker 1: magical tornado disappears. All the pizzas, noodles, meatballs, and other
- 33:18Speaker 1: foods dissolve into energy. And for a second... The arena
- 33:24Speaker 1: is completely silent. Then, the nine-tailed fox begins glowing blue.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Its body transforms into energy and shoots directly back into
- 33:40Speaker 1: Janvi's card core. The referee raises both hands. Second point awarded.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Match complete. Ladies, gentlemen, Strange alien creatures, we have our
- 33:57Speaker 1: first finalist. The crowd goes absolutely bonkers. You leap into
- 34:05Speaker 1: the air cheering as your force field disappears from around you.
- 34:10Speaker 1: We did it. We actually did it. Food Dude looks
- 34:15Speaker 1: towards you.
- 34:17Speaker 2: Food Dude.
- 34:19Speaker 3: Yeah, buddy.
- 34:20Speaker 1: You were amazing. Sorry for keeping you in my core
- 34:24Speaker 1: so long. For dude, he says. Which somehow you take
- 34:33Speaker 1: to mean that he actually likes being in your core.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Probably no surprise that something that large prefers to rest
- 34:43Speaker 1: a lot. You recall him into his carred. and recall
- 34:48Speaker 1: it to your card core before turning toward Janvi, who's
- 34:52Speaker 1: walking across the arena. I have to say, that was
- 34:57Speaker 1: pretty incredible. I never thought someone could defeat my fox
- 35:02Speaker 1: with a tornado of food, but come to think of it,
- 35:06Speaker 1: I guess it sort of makes sense. Fighting fire with fire,
- 35:09Speaker 1: or food with food, I should say. Honestly, you respond,
- 35:16Speaker 1: neither did I. You shake her hand, wave goodbye to
- 35:21Speaker 1: the audience, and head back toward the change rooms. Once inside,
- 35:28Speaker 1: you summon Magnus. He's back in his little black dragonling form,
- 35:34Speaker 1: but he still seems pretty tired. What happened? Well, we won,
- 35:43Speaker 1: you say? as you pull a little granola bar out
- 35:47Speaker 1: of your back pocket. But I think you might be
- 35:51Speaker 1: a little low on the blood sugar. Eat this. Magnus
- 35:57Speaker 1: unwraps the bar and shoves it into his mouth, chewing rapidly. Ah,
- 36:04Speaker 1: this is wonderful. I've never felt something that actually sends
- 36:10Speaker 1: a sort of warm sensation through my entire body. What happened? Well,
- 36:18Speaker 1: as far as I can tell, something about the other
- 36:21Speaker 1: creature's chocolate absorbed your blood sugar.
- 36:27Speaker 2: What?
- 36:28Speaker 1: I didn't even know I had blood sugar. I think
- 36:32Speaker 1: we all do, you say. I was defeated by chocolate?
- 36:38Speaker 1: And then a giant chef won the tournament? Magnus says. Ah, Well,
- 36:45Speaker 1: technically we're not done yet, we still have the finals.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Magnus looks up. Oh, well good, because I plan to
- 36:53Speaker 1: win that one without any help. You laugh. I hope
- 36:58Speaker 1: you do, buddy. Together, you make your way out of
- 37:02Speaker 1: the arena, activate your magical wings, and fly high above
- 37:08Speaker 1: the alien city. To avoid the huge crowd of reporters
- 37:13Speaker 1: waiting outside your hotel, you once again fly straight for
- 37:18Speaker 1: the balcony. You land, open the door, and head inside.
- 37:25Speaker 1: Magnus immediately stretches out on one of the hotel beds.
- 37:29Speaker 1: You decide to do the same. You pull the covers back,
- 37:35Speaker 1: slip inside the freshly made bed. and then pull the
- 37:40Speaker 1: covers up to your chin. You close your eyes, and
- 37:46Speaker 1: just begin to focus on your breath. With each breath,
- 37:54Speaker 1: you allow your body to relax a little bit more,
- 37:59Speaker 1: sinking down deeper and deeper into the mattress. And before long,
- 38:07Speaker 1: Your mind wanders off to thoughts of new dreams, new adventures,
- 38:17Speaker 1: and new strange magical creatures to come. Good night, everyone.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 40:44Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 42:20Speaker 1: Amen.
- 43:28Speaker 3: Thank you. Thank you. you Thank you. Thank you.
- 48:30Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 49:27Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 51:26Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 52:08Speaker 1: Thank you. Thank you.
- 54:59Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 55:40Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 56:34Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 58:33Speaker 1: Thank you. Thank you.
