2:45
Coming up on the show this morning. A little bit later on,
2:46
of course, we're going to have more about the Republican National Convention from Milwaukee.
2:51
Yes, Big Jim and Baby Dog we're there last night. We're going
2:54
to get your reactions to that. Plus Delegate Kaylee Young will be stobbing by
2:58
a little bit later on as well. Let me bring in our good friend
3:00
Milly Snyder from the Shape Shop. Good morning, Milly. How are you.
3:04
I'm wonderful, Dave. How about you? I'm doing fine, Thank
3:07
you, thank you very much. Been watching the Republican National Convention. No,
3:10
okay, let's move on. I mean, I didn't want to mince
3:15
words. I love you for your honesty. I love you for your honesty.
3:17
But all right, so good talk. Maybe just the simple answer.
3:23
It's fine. We don't talk politics when you're on the show anyway, so
3:25
I wouldn't ask you. I wouldn't ask you to get into anything, be
3:29
it Republican, Democrat or otherwise. I would not ask you to get into
3:32
that at all. I am here to congratulate you, really, yes,
3:37
because I was so impressed because you shared on Facebook a healthy meal that you
3:44
ate one one one. Well, I blame I blame Tom Sussman for that,
3:49
my good friend Tom Susman. Well, thank you Tom Susman for showing
3:52
you the pathway. But I must tell you I was impressed. You had
3:57
grilled chicken on a salad, and I was cheering in my kitchen. You
4:02
go, Dave, you go, man. I have always liked. I
4:08
mean, the thing about me is when it comes to food is I love
4:10
everything. So I'm not opposed to having having I love salads, I love
4:15
grilled chicken, I love salmon, I love all that stuff. We want
4:16
you to bite the fried and the grease and the crap less. Yeah,
4:21
well, and I'm on my way there, as I shared with Millie,
4:26
and I wasn't going to say anything about it on the air, but Millie
4:30
and well, she's the Queen of breaking. But now I had a little
4:38
health issue. It was nothing major, but I started. He started when
4:41
I went to an optometrist because I needed new glasses and they were looking around
4:46
in my head and you know whatever, and they didn't find a whole lot,
4:48
to be honest with you, but they know it's a blood spot in
4:51
my eye. It was like a floating blood spot. And they said,
4:54
you need to probably go to your primary care physician and get this looked at.
4:58
Well, a shamed, I didn't have a primary care position. Uh
5:01
so I went to one and finally found somebody that was taking new patients.
5:05
And I went to one and the lady when she was taking my blood pressure
5:12
and let me just say, shout out to nurse Tanya, who is extremely
5:15
from extreme southern West Virginia and where I'm from, she's further south than I
5:19
am. Tanya when she took my blood purchase said, oh my god,
5:23
honey, lay down, and I said, we need to send love to
5:27
her. And uh and so it was pretty high. It was, you
5:31
know, both both numbers were triple digits. Uh. And that's that's what
5:34
we call scary. Yeah. And she said, okay, you need to
5:38
lay down immediately. And so I had to start making a few lifestyle changes
5:44
here and there. They didn't put me on a diet per se because I
5:47
would have argued, I know, said Millie Snyder says, that's not what
5:49
you do. You do lifestyle changes. And I like, I am not
5:53
perfect by these stretches of and I've only been into this thing a lot of
5:56
Monelie darn clothes. But now I've been trying to do a little bit better,
6:00
doing a little bit more exercise, eating a little bit more. Cutting
6:04
out salt is a big deal for me because number one, Southern West Virginia,
6:10
that's what we do. We sold everything. I want Southern West Virginia
6:16
to hear this broadcast because they need and I hope it becomes their wish to
6:24
begin changing their eating habits. I'm a kid who literally had a salt shaker
6:29
in my locker in grade school. I believe you. I mean I salted
6:32
everything and believe you, and I want to someday the next time I'm on,
6:35
I want to tell you there's a real story about JC Penny because back
6:41
in the day, I have to tell it now, Okay, there back
6:44
in the day when J. C. Penny actually ran his business, if
6:46
he was considering you for a promotion, he invited you out for lunch and
6:51
he observed your eating habits. If you salted your food before you tasted it,
6:58
you didn't get the promotion. If you tasted your food and then made
7:02
your decision, you were considered more favorable for the position. And that's something
7:09
that we could learn from. And by the way, this is listed in
7:13
in the biography about J. C. Penny. How many of us have
7:18
that salt shaker in our purse in our back pocket in the car because we
7:24
are sure that the food needs salt. I know you have, and I
7:28
will say that this journey for me, and it's I'm only I'm only assass
7:31
said I looked it up last night. It's two days shive a month.
7:36
It's not been as difficult for me as what it would be for some people,
7:39
because I like everything. I just got to watch about adding and finding
7:44
things. And I'm looking at labels now I'm looking at sodium and I'm thinking,
7:47
yeah, that's and I need you also to look at sugar. Sugar.
7:50
Sugar is now cited by the FDA as a food that is not our
7:56
friend, and a lot of people take arms with me. Oh my god,
8:00
leave sugar alone. Don't say that. The truth of the matter is
8:03
it only tastes good in our mouth. The salt only tastes good in our
8:07
mouth, But in the meantime it's contaminating other parts of our body. Why
8:11
is my food store healthy and without preservatives and chemicals in the food, Because
8:18
it's the way to eat. Oh and by the way, I want to
8:22
share with you, we have a brand new venue today for the food truck.
8:26
Yeah, we're going to Thomas Hospital. Oh okay, So if anybody
8:31
is out and about in that part of the valley, please stop and have
8:35
a wonderful lunch with us. Of course, you can always come to the
8:37
store itself. Seven oh, six Central Avenue, and that's on the west
8:43
side of Charleston. But we're excited to be at a new venue for lunchtime
8:48
today at Thomas And how long are there? What are the hours? We're
8:50
going to be there from eleven to one thirtyeth So, if you're anywhere in
8:54
the area. What's on the truck today? Oh gosh, we have our
8:58
whole menu is there. We will make a number of different wraps. You
9:03
want salmon bites, you can get those. And you know you're about a
9:07
year and a half ago when the girls in the Shape Shop put salmon bites
9:11
on the truck, I thought that was crazy because people don't eat cooked salmon
9:16
when they're walking around. You know. In the meantime they sold out and
9:22
shows what you know, huh, absolutely. And the point is that people
9:26
want fresh, clean, delicious food and that's what we pride ourselves in making
9:30
at the Shape Shop. If you need salt, you can add it,
9:33
but we're not going to hand you food that is already so salty. You
9:39
need to drink a bottle of water afterwards. A lot of drink water,
9:43
please. Well a lot of times and I've heard you say this and and
9:46
I've been doing this for about four years now. I've heard you say,
9:48
don't be fooled by labels that say low fat, no fat or whatever.
9:54
It just you know, you got to read what's actually in it. One
9:56
thing I have discovered and I'm going to and you may admonish me for this,
10:00
maybe good or maybe bad. Is I love spicy food. I mean
10:03
the spicier the better I have been putting instead of salt I've been using.
10:07
It. Used to be called missus dash. Now it's just called dash.
10:11
There's there's no wealth or we don't want to put genders on things anymore.
10:16
It's dash now. But the extra spicy and there's no no sodium in it.
10:22
No pretty much, No, it hasn't. And it has an excellent
10:24
taste. And I use it in my own house, all right, So
10:28
I passed. I mean, that's okay. I can use the dash,
10:31
and it's available a variety of different flavors. I use the extra spicy.
10:33
Co you need a little kick, You can use that on so many of
10:37
their of your choices. Oh, I have eating healthfully. Eating healthfully is
10:43
for the preservation of our well being, and people just don't know how to
10:46
do that. Now you know, the weight loss drug is all over television
10:52
because thousands upon thousands of people are taking it, but they are not learning
10:58
proper eating habits. And I am I'm up. I'm just so upset about
11:05
it. All right, I'm gonna ask to ask you to put your your
11:07
headphones on because I think we have a call for you. Great. Let's
11:11
so put your headphones on and if we don't break the microphone in the process.
11:15
Okay, all right, anewan, we're ready, go ahead, put
11:16
him through. Hello, you're on the air. Hi. I just wanted
11:22
to congratulate Millie on just a great career of helping people with weight loss in
11:28
the Canaw Valley and around southern West Virginia. She really made a change in
11:33
my life to help me make a change of lifestyle. I lost one hundred
11:39
pounds, my blood pressure went down, the shape shop is, the food
11:43
is great. And just appreciate everything she's done. All thank you very Jim.
11:50
I appreciate you calling in. Thanks a lot. Well that's great news.
11:52
Thank you very much. All Right, Well there's your fan. You
11:56
got another way. I actually have a question here for you than Milly.
11:58
Why in the world, world in the why in the world. In the
12:01
first world country like the USA, are things like MSG still legal well,
12:05
because a lot of people who prepare food are not paying attention to that because
12:13
it definitely has some ugly side effects. Mano, Sudium glutamate is not a
12:18
friend. And again I'm going to tie that in with the same sentence,
12:22
neither is sugar. And so we need to understand that these news items that
12:28
are out there, if there are places that are still serving that there's a
12:33
simple way that we say no, thank you, or could you tell me
12:37
what's in the food that you are preparing. Now, They're not going to
12:41
kick you out, they're not going to take your photo and swear that you'll
12:46
never come into that restaurant again. But if we are not afraid to ask
12:50
questions and we need to ask for fresh could you tell me how this is
12:56
prepared? And that's what I want people to know. In my Mediterranean group,
13:01
I want people to I teach our members how to take recipes apart and
13:05
decide if these are healthy. Eating breakfast, lunch, and supper sounds very
13:13
simple to you and I, but you would be amazed day at how many
13:16
people do not understand those simple steps and they run out and get fried food
13:22
and they don't eat all day long, but they justify it because they haven't
13:26
eaten all day. And that's that's body abuse, it is, and that's
13:31
health abuse. You mentioned, you mentioned before we let you go your classes.
13:35
Talk about your classes that you offer again. Well, I have two
13:37
Mediterranean groups Thursday morning, Saturday morning. It's in a private room at our
13:43
Shapeshop building seven oh six Central Avenue. And tomorrow we're meeting at nine am,
13:50
and then again Saturday morning, we'll meet at nine am. A modesty
13:54
to come and learn how to eat and how to eat healthfily, don't let
13:58
the word medianean scare you. It simply refers to a very healthy way of
14:03
eating that was adopted from that part of the world. And you will eat
14:07
better eating Mediterranean food than you've eaten in your entire life because all of it
14:13
is not contaminated. And I want to teach as many people as want to
14:18
learn it. The weight loss drug is not the answer, indeed. And
14:22
you're at Thomas today and then this coming Friday we'll be back at Live on
14:28
the Levee Cool and that's going to be winding down. I think in the
14:33
middle of August, and our food truck is available for any business that would
14:37
like to honor their employees or just do something special for that area where they're
14:45
located. All they have to do is call the Shape Shop and we'll be
14:48
happy to help them. All right, Reilly, appreciate you being here.
14:52
Thanks. Shape Shop located AT's seven oh six Central Avenue on the west side
14:56
of Charleston. And you looking good, Dave, Well, I mean maybe
15:01
from the neck down. I don't know. We can't do anything about the
15:03
neck up, so I don't know about that, but we'll have at your

19:32
Della Gate, Good morning to the show. How are you doing good?
19:34
How you doing I'm doing good. This is my second radio interview today.
19:37
I won't say their name, but yeah, I feel like I'm on a
19:41
tour. What yeah you mean there's another radio show besides this one not around
19:45
here? Okay, all right? Is it affiliated with our company somewhere?
19:48
No, I don't think I don't think it, so I'm not going to
19:51
say it. Right, It's okay, it's okay. We don't own you
19:53
on this show. First of all, I want to start it get a
19:57
little serious here for a moment. And I've done this with just about every
20:02
guest that I've had on the show this week. Oh, by the way,
20:04
I did have a text for Milly. I forgot to read. This
20:07
said, yay, I would vote for Milly. That's what one of the
20:08
Texters had. I asked her if she'd been watching the RNC, and she
20:12
point like no, you should run. And I said to her, I
20:15
said, I want to ask you to talk politics. When somebody turned in
20:19
said she, you know, I would vote for Milly. But with most
20:23
of the guests I've had on in the show, Delegate, I have asked
20:26
them about their thoughts on the attempted assassination of Donald Trump's Saturday evening in Butler,
20:32
Pennsylvania. You want a way in absolutely. I was out of town
20:36
with a group of legislators and we were all chocked and appalled. I think
20:38
it's terrifying and really really scary, and no one should ever be subjected to
20:42
violence. And I really am concerned with the failure of the Secret Service.
20:48
I don't know, I can't understand how someone with the gun got that close
20:52
to him. Yeah, and there's there's going to be a lot of heads
20:55
roll on this thing and again, and I want to talk about that a
20:57
little bit later on the show. And I don't I'm trying not to politicize
21:02
it, but there is a massive breakdown here now where you start getting the
21:04
murky waters is all the conspiracy theories out there, and I tend to let's
21:08
just let let's let it play out, you know, But I don't think
21:12
anybody delegate would disagree. There was a massive failure by someone here, and
21:18
I think somebody at the top of the Secret Service is probably gonna lose their
21:21
job over there. I think they should. It's terrifying. I mean when
21:23
you say, and again, I don't want to get you know, I
21:26
don't want to want to presume too much. But when you say it was
21:29
a sloped roof up there, well, he had no problem getting up there.
21:33
And I saw a meme yesterday not to make fun of this. They
21:37
said, oh, you know, going back years ago, we couldn't get
21:40
it, said, thank goodness that Osama bin Laden wasn't on a slope roof.
21:45
Yeah. I mean, it's just wild because it's not like they were
21:48
in a city right where there's a lot of potential points. They looked like
21:51
they're out in the middle of nowhere, so there were only so many options.
21:55
So it's it's scary and it's terrible. But I am happy to hear
21:57
you. I'm happy to hear you your statement. And Mike Pushkins earlier as
22:03
well to say, you know, we've got to somehow tone this down now.
22:07
We could when the investigation comes out, we could find out. This
22:11
could be a Jodie Foster, a John Hinckley Junior type situation where there was
22:15
no political band at all, just somebody that was the little nuts and did
22:18
this. And we'll let all that play out. But I am I'm happy
22:22
to hear you and others that may be on the complete total opposite end of
22:26
the spectrum from Donald Trump to say what you just said. Oh absolutely,
22:30
And I don't know if you know. There was a House statement that went
22:32
out from ninety nine members, so I was thankful that they wrote that for
22:36
us, and I was happy to sign on to it. I don't want
22:38
anybody to get hurt. Yeah, So, how do we tone down some
22:41
of this rhetoric, because regardless of what we find out about the shooter,
22:47
there's a lot of it out there, and there's enough on both sides to
22:48
float the parobial battleship. So that's right, that's right, there is I
22:52
don't know how. I don't know how, and it's scary. I've wondered
22:55
that for a long time because it's it. I don't know how you tone
22:59
it down because everyone's so angry and so upset and so hateful on both sides
23:03
and I don't know how we'd tone it down. I hope that we do.
23:07
I was a little alarmed by something the governor said last night, and
23:11
I thought it was quite violent, potentially talk about I didn't watch his whole
23:17
thing. I turned it on halfway through, and I believe he said,
23:19
if Donald Trump doesn't win, we will become absolutely unhinted. I don't know
23:25
the exact th qua. I have the quote here. Let me see.
23:29
I don't want to steal your show. No no, no, no,
23:30
no, no, it's fine. We become totally unhinged if Donald Trump is
23:33
not elected in November. That was a direct quote from Governor Justice last night.
23:37
Yeah, that's a little alarming to me in the wake of us all
23:41
trying to tone down violence. And I don't find the governor to be that
23:44
type of person in any capacity. I've never I think he's silly, but
23:48
I don't know him to be. You know, I don't know him to
23:49
be. I don't I wouldn't even call him mean, you know. I
23:52
just think he's kind of goofy and funny and a very nice enough person.
23:57
But I don't know. I found that kind of alarming because we've seen it
24:02
we've seen people become totally unhinged when Donald Trump wasn't elected so literally, so
24:07
it scared me a little bit. I was kind of I was quite taken
24:11
aback by the statement myself last night, to be honest with you, and
24:15
what I said after day one was I thought, because I watched a I
24:18
waunch a lot more coverage on day one than I did on day two.
24:22
And on day one I was kind of I thought, well, you know,
24:25
they're talking primarily about the economy, and that's what they did at the
24:27
audiency Mondays. They have a theme for every day, and Mondays was make
24:30
America Wealthy, because it was a different thing, and they talked about about
24:34
primarily the economy and things of that nature, of what people are paying at
24:38
the grocery store and things of that nature. But then last and I'm just
24:45
I guess I'm a little apprehensive it as we get closer to the big finish
24:48
on Thursday night, that you're going to start hearing more and more. I
24:52
hope not, because I was at least I've read that Trump had tore up
24:55
a speech and now he's trying to be the great unifier, which is wild,
24:59
But I I want less divisiveness from everyone. So I think it would
25:03
be excellent if leaders are doing that as well. So yeah, I hope
25:06
it was just a misspeak. But I mean he was reading off a prompter,
25:08
so I don't know. He did have baby Dog with him. He
25:11
did, And it was so wild because right after he said that statement,
25:15
it panned out to showing him in baby Dog and I was like, oh,
25:18
now everyone knows her, Oh yeah, oh yeah. I mean there
25:21
was no there's not going to be an appearance by Jim Justice that there wasn't
25:26
baby Dog there. That's right, Baby Dog was there. And I read
25:30
some of the and I wondered, just and again, I just wondered,
25:32
what the rest of the country, because we've kind of grown, you grown
25:34
accustomed to baby Dog here, and it's just, you know, just to
25:37
make the thing and now Politico and all these other you know. I saw
25:41
an article that was tweeted out by xed out by Fox News that you know,
25:45
who is baby Dog. I saw rumors that there was like an issue
25:48
with her being there on the like, which with the people. Yeah,
25:52
because I had texted you last night just to remind you that we had set
25:55
this out two weeks ago and I texted you and I said, hey,
25:56
don't forget about your apparents tomorrow. And you said, I've heard that there's
26:00
that. Yeah, I don't know what the rumors would I don't I know
26:02
people voter, they're working there, like on media and that. I didn't
26:06
know the rumors either, just that there was like a problem. Well,
26:07
I mean, baby dog has become quite a diva, you know, and
26:11
gets hurt, and it was heavy right to be well, and I will
26:15
say humble. I will say this. I don't know exactly if there was
26:18
an issue, but with the governors speaking last night, because I had seen
26:22
where, uh my friend Steven Allen Adams from all the newspapers had said like
26:27
the governor coming up in like thirty seconds, and I was watching it last
26:30
night and I was and I was like, okay, they kept going from
26:34
person to person, and I don't know what the issue was. I mean,
26:37
that's you know, that's obviously a live show, so they're moving people
26:40
around constantly. I thought the governor was going to be on a little bit
26:44
on time. Why. I don't know whether he was on in the building
26:48
or not. I'm not I'm not sure he was. That's a big building,
26:51
don't. I'm not sure. I speaking of the governor, your thoughts
26:56
on a lot of the talk of the budget surplus, you know, and
27:00
the governor's proposed tax cuts because you know this, We know that everybody keeps
27:06
talking about the surplus that we have. At Eric Tar in the show yesterday
27:10
talking about it, and the governor is proposing if you have when you have
27:12
a special session. I guess next month he's proposing even even more tax cuts.
27:17
A lot of people are saying to use their terminology pump the brakes here,
27:21
including Senator Tar, and I think House Speaker Hanshaw was on with Hoppi
27:26
and said, well, let's just kind of take a look at this.
27:29
Where are you on the thing? I do think we need to take a
27:30
look at it. We stopped getting the six year look ahead, which is
27:33
in the weeds. But typically when we would get budget things throughout session,
27:37
we would have a six year look ahead to see how the culmination of everything
27:40
we were doing is going to affect our budget. And that stopped during some
27:45
at some point during Governor Justices term, so we no longer have that look
27:48
ahead to see how everything comes into play. You know, we did the
27:52
Hope Scholarship Bill a few years ago, and it really kicks into gear.
27:53
I want to say it this year or maybe next year. And that's a
27:56
massive further financial thing. Plus, we did the twenty one and a half
28:00
percent tax cut and we had all the COVID money. So I agree that
28:04
we need to take a minute and look at where our finances are to see
28:11
what we're capable of doing. I think is a total somewhere like six hundred
28:14
and fifty million in surplus. I believe, I know childcare is number one
28:18
on my list to pay for. I'm going to get in that a little
28:19
bit later on again, we're talking with Deligate, Kaylee Young, The Dave
28:22
Alan Show and five in They Live brought to you part about Bridge Valley.

28:45
in a position that you don't want to answer. But some people have said
28:48
that this whole thing, well, one person being Eric tar It, said
28:52
that this whole thing about even further tax cuts that the governor's asking for,
28:57
that this is just campane fodder, as he called it. Your thoughts.
29:02
That could be true. I'm also not sure if he was when he initially
29:06
called for that five percent when he was announcing, you know, the whole
29:08
big balloon thing where they were talking about how much money they had and he
29:14
announced the additional five percent. I'm not sure if he was aware that there
29:17
was going to be a cut, because right after we said that, there
29:18
was the four percent cut. Because when we did that twenty one and a
29:22
half percent tax cut, there's also triggers to further cut it. So technically
29:26
we kind of it's going to lower if we meet these benchmarks regardless. So
29:32
I guess I don't know why we need to come back in and slash another
29:34
five percent when four percent already went in, so it's already up to twenty
29:38
nine percent. You were bridging gaps already. You and Eric tar are on
29:42
exactly the same page. Sometimes we are. There's more Honestly, there's more
29:48
agreements in government than there are disagreements, but they just don't make the headlines
29:52
because of people like me agreed well, but agreements are boring, right For
29:56
a lot of the time, it's the we want the gossip and the drama,
29:59
and when we all agree, it's not exciting. But good things can
30:02
happen. You mentioned childcare or you mentioned the children in general. There are
30:10
major issues with DHHR still and they're coming out all. I mean, it's
30:15
we've had kind of a bit of a lull here for a bit, but
30:18
from the situation in Boone County, within the situation in the Sistonville area,
30:22
there seems to be so many issues delegate with childcare in the state, it
30:27
DHHR or other agencies or just individuals. How do we fix it? Well,
30:32
you do. I was talking specifically about childcare, like daycare type programs.
30:37
I like to use the word childcare because we're not taking care of days,
30:38
we're taking care of children. But I'm talking about childcare for when people
30:41
need to go to work or you know, something like that. However,
30:45
there are and at that portion of DHHR or what was known as DHHR works
30:49
extremely well. We just need to give them some more funding so the people
30:53
they're great at their jobs, and definitely some more people in childcare. But
30:56
people don't want to open childcare facilities because they make zero make The math doesn't
31:02
math, and so we need way more childcare facilities. But who would do
31:06
that because you're working your butt off and not getting any benefits. It's a
31:10
terrible business model by design because people can't afford what it actually costs to provide
31:14
childcare. But we need folks to get to work, and so they can't
31:15
get to work if they don't have somewhere for their beautiful children to go.
31:21
Largely speaking about DHR in general, yeah, there's we've got a lot of
31:23
issues with the foster care system, still completely broken over six and foster care,
31:27
and that should keep you up at night. I hope it keeps everyone
31:30
up at night. And then also, yeah, the recent stuff with the
31:33
folks that we've seen in Boone County and the death of the young girl,
31:37
and then that leads to the larger conversation of homeschooling. Whether those are the
31:41
same conversation, I don't know, but they have been recently in the news.
31:44
I think it was hoppy that said, and I agree with what Happy
31:48
said that you know, nobody's saying in that situation that homeschooling caused the little
31:52
girl to lose her life, No one. And there are countless homeschooling success
31:59
stories out there that people good, good friends of mine, that are doing
32:00
it one hundred percent right. However, there is a breakdown somewhere. Yes,
32:07
when the reporting you know, they go whatever, and you've been following
32:10
this north clasture than I have when they went so that they and I know,
32:14
and and I had Delegate Krause on here who's a big proponent of homeschooling,
32:16
that laid it out this. If you're homeschooling, these are your requirements.
32:21
That's right, this is what you're supposed to do. And these people,
32:23
apparently in Boom County didn't do it, and no one checked on them.
32:29
I think like the number is low, less than half of people do
32:31
do them? Do do the requirements. And it's for four assessments that you
32:35
turn in. It's like third grade, fifth grade. Uh, there's four.
32:38
I don't know the exact Yeah, she laid and she knows and she's
32:42
she's very very well versed in these requires. So is this something that the
32:45
legislature needs to look out, Delegate. I mean, do we need to
32:46
go in and go, hey, we got a titan this, we need
32:49
a six months evaluation, we need a one year of valuation or I don't
32:52
know the answer. And something that I find very it's really hard to track
32:54
kids because we don't track kids like we track adults. They don't pay taxes,
32:59
so we don't track them, and I don't know how we track them
33:02
while keeping their privacy safe. A database scares me because but at the same
33:07
time their children. It feels as if like we have a lot more homeschool
33:12
regulations than a lot of states do, frankly, even though I feel like
33:15
they're fairly laxed. But obviously other states aren't. Kids aren't dying at the
33:20
rate that they are here, So something's broken to me. It tells me
33:22
our communities are a little bit broken, because if that's the only time eyes
33:25
are on kids, and eyes aren't on kids when these assessments are turned in,
33:29
they're mailed in, so like once you pull your kids out of public
33:31
school, no one has to technically see them again. So I don't know
33:36
what the answer becomes to ensure that these kids are safe. We want to
33:38
trust parents to ensure that kids are safe because that's their job. That's the
33:43
parent's job, and we should be able to trust them. But kids keep
33:45
dying, and that scares me. I was going to say, do we
33:49
need to look at and again, I'm the one that always says, let's
33:52
keep government out of people's lives. But there are certain aspects, you know,
33:57
I can't pay my roads, you know for certain things. Yeah,
34:01
is this something that maybe the again the lay I don't put all the all
34:05
the emphasis on the on the legislature, but is this something the legislature needs
34:07
to take a look at and say, look, we want to see these
34:10
kids in person. We want to we want to maybe we want to see
34:15
these kids in person. We want to see their their tracking a forum,
34:21
an email is not going to cut it. We want to see them in
34:22
person. But then you also go back to the situations where we started this
34:27
conversation Dow again, which is we don't have enough people. Yeah, that's
34:30
so, and so who is going to be the person that goes and visits
34:34
homeschooling mom Kaylee Young's house to see if she's doing what she's supposed to be
34:37
doing Who, I mean, who are we going to send out? Yeah,
34:38
I don't know. I've even thought that maybe they, maybe homeschooling parents
34:42
could just turn in like a well visit from a doctor, because doctors are
34:45
mandatory reporters, and kids are all going to a pediatrician. So maybe that's
34:49
the way to not intrude on their homes and their lives. I don't know
34:52
the answer, but I think that's a conversation we should all be having together.
34:55
Tech says, and I'll let you go on this one. I appreciate
34:58
DELI get young. It's been watching the and See convention. I just watched

35:13

35:19
thoughts. Quite frankly, I had never heard her until I saw her on
35:22
the convention the other night. I didn't really care enough to so, yeah,
35:24
I don't you have no thoughts, A few thoughts, all right,
35:28
I got you. So do you have opposition? And I do, yeah,
35:30
same guys last time, Okay, and it was a tight race and
35:32
it's going to be a tight race again. I'm very worried that folks aren't
35:36
going to come out to vote because I think with Trump as an almost forgone
35:40
conclusion in West Virginia that it doesn't incentivize really anyone to come out. So
35:45
I'm concerned. I mean, so, what's was a campaign plan? And
35:49
by the way, your opposition is always welcome on the show, and I'm
35:52
equal time, you know, as they're welcome on the show anytime, and
35:55
we'll have them. I'll have both. We'll have you on as a candidate
35:59
as we get closer to the election, as will we have your opponent.
36:01
But what's the plan like for the rest of the summer. I mean,
36:04
are you are you campaigning already or are you just I'm not campaigning. You're
36:07
always campaigning there, No, I'm not always campaigning. It's summer. I
36:10
think people want to break. I think it feels like summer's been so politically
36:14
charged. The whole thing has been because it's either something's going on in West
36:16
Virginia, or it's going on nationally or both and just been tiring. But
36:21
no, I think people get the summer off and then around there for day
36:23
we start back up, including myself my kids. You know it's hard on
36:27
them too, so we take some time off. Well, you gotta have
36:29
it every now and then. Delicate, Kaylee Young, I appreciate you being

39:47
Historically pro lifers love violence as a text. I was talking to somebody
39:52
who was very involved in national politics and the Republican part already and and I
40:00
guess maybe this kind of flew under my radar a little bit, but they
40:04
were talking about that that, yeah, that there was something to that that
40:07
I guess the national platform. Uh, there was some talk. And again
40:12
somebody can call me or text me tell me if I'm wrong, but there
40:14
was some talk that some people within the Republican Party were apparently upset with Donald

Trump because he kind of had his hands on the platform and and the choice
40:24
of JD. Vance as a as the vice president for Donald Trump. Trump
40:30
and Vance are in different places when it comes to the abortion issue. I
40:36
mean, you know, whether you agree or disagree, JD. Vance is
40:42
is much much much much more uh to the pro life side, one hundred
40:47
percent than what Donald Trump is. Now what I mean by that is is,
40:52
you know JD. Vance has basically has come out and said I don't
40:54
know whether he's speaking I think tonight. So We'll see whether he if he
41:00
addresses it, all changes. But jd Vance is one that said abortion should
41:04
only only be an issue in the life of the mother is in peril.
41:09
That's the only way in the world of jd Vance. So rape incests not

41:19
But yeah, I have heard some intel from some of my friends in
41:21
the National Republican Party that a few of them we're not very happy with former
41:24
President Trump because of his view They don't. I mean, you know,
41:29
Trump was a was a pro choice guy. Remember that it's also a Democrat,
41:34
and that there are people that are, you know, a little bit
41:37
they'd like to see him take a different type tone. But now Nicki Haley,
41:42
you know, last night trying to be a unifier, you know,
41:45
saying you don't have to agree with Donald Trump on everything. That was a
41:47
quote from Nicki Haley, who spoke last night to agree that we need him
41:51
in the White House. And that was a quote from Nicki Haley last night.

the music thing on weekend on the Mountain. I'm on Sundays from noondall seven.
48:01
And Uh. We've had a great time with it. Uh And it
48:05
was just kind of an idea. And of course we brought Steve Animal out
48:07
of the off Balls for the show. But from Steve and myself and and
48:10
UH and Hollywood, Jeff Patty and the other Jeffley of two Jeff's on the

48:17
uh and from Amy Ryan and everybody, thank you for listening to the Mountain.
48:22
It's it's been a labor of love success. It's been a success beyond
48:25
our wildest imagination. UH So if you like classic rock, you may want

48:46
let's just say he didn't make quite an impact, but we know he would,
48:51
especially with baby dog in tow. David Beard of the Dominion Post out
48:54
of Morgantown has a recap this morning posted at wv Metro News dot com.
48:59
The governor taking uh uh taking the time to praise former President Trump and UH
49:05
and I kind of talked a little bit about this earlier. I will say
49:08
that unlike a lot of the other speakers last night and the night before,
49:14
the Governor UH did not really used at all the opportunity to talk about his
49:20
own race for Senate. He's got He's facing Democratic Wheeling Mayor Glenn Elliott in
49:24
the general election. Uh, and it's delicate. Young mentioned One thing that
49:28
did not set well with some was when he said, and again the quote,
49:31
was we become totally unhinged if Donald Trump is not elected in November.
49:37
End quote. So I guess so much for what I said yesterday about the
49:43
first day theme. Uh, kind of down and down the rhetoric. And
49:47
and look, you you know me, I am the ultimate free speech gap.
49:53
But I'm not and I'm not one two second guests the governor. Uh,
49:59
but I'm not so sure language like that is what we need, not
50:04
a snowflake that says, you know, or mined stretch of the imagination.
50:07
I just don't know that I would have said that. But again the othernor
50:12
kind of does his own thing, and that's why people love him. And
50:16
on the other side, there are also those that are saying that if Trump
50:22
is re elected, it's the end of the world as we know it.
50:24
To quote ri Em and you know what I've said, there was a country
50:31
before Donald Trump, despite what he may think, and there will be a
50:36
country after him or Joe Biden I will or whomever the Democrats, but maybe
50:44
by that talk's kind of kind of been, you know, put on the
50:46
backburner for a while. I will say it again. I want to think
50:51
and hope and pray that the country that survived the Civil War, two major
50:55
World Wars, the sixties, the turbulance there nine to eleven, etcetera.
50:59
I want to think we can survive the next few months and what hopefully will
51:02
be a peaceful inauguration and transfer of power if there is a transfer of power,
51:07
if there is, and there may not be, whatever happens come election
51:12
Day and then by January, I hope we get through this. The RNC
51:15
Republican National Convention will continue tonight. If you can't watch it or you want
51:22
the ABC coverage, we provide it for you, and of course Sahapi will
51:27
continue the RNC talk coming up at ten oh six. I will say,
51:30
I'm looking forward to to watching the Democrat National Convention, which will be held
51:37
August of nineteenth through Thursday of the twenty second of August in Chicago. I
51:43
just think it's going to be interesting to compare and contrast the two They may
51:45
be more alike than you think. I mean, not obviously on their ideals
51:50
or anything like that, but they may be more alike as far as what
51:53
they the tone, you know. And again we're only at the halfway point
51:59
of the rn C, which got a vice presidential pick jd Vance coming up
52:02
tonight, among others, and then of course the president tomorrow night. And
52:07
have you noticed that since the tenth on the Life of former President Trump on
52:08
Saturday? Have you noticed that everyone that suddenly was an expert on dementia,
52:13
old age and Alzheimer's and the like as it pertains to President Biden or now
52:15
experts on CE Secret Service protocol. And as Delegate Young and I talked about
52:22
there, obviously something went horribly horribly wrong on Saturday. And I think we're
52:29
going to have to take a very very close look at this moving forward.
52:34
And I was gonna say, que the conspiracy theories, but you know they're
52:37
already out there. You already know, you already know them. I'm not
52:39
going to further them, but you already know what they are. But Dave
