- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Benn and Ashley I almost famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with our radio. We are here, we are back. It's
- 0:09Speaker 1: an off week though for the almost famous podcast. What
- 0:11Speaker 1: up ass? Hey Ben? Yeah, it's gonna be a fast
- 0:15Speaker 1: show today. We have Bachelor headlines. We're gonna go down
- 0:18Speaker 1: memory lane a little bit. But there was no episode,
- 0:22Speaker 1: so you know, um we got we got not much
- 0:26Speaker 1: to say, we got a lot to say. Life still
- 0:30Speaker 1: keeps going. Life still keeps going. It is gonna be
- 0:33Speaker 1: a good episode. We're good at these off days. We
- 0:36Speaker 1: actually have Renee from Batch Bracket. She won this last
- 0:39Speaker 1: go around on the Bachelorette and so she's gonna be
- 0:42Speaker 1: joining us today. That was her gift in her project.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Just makes me feel weird. Yeah, it makes me feel
- 0:50Speaker 1: weird too, But we're excited to meet her. It's it's
- 0:52Speaker 1: gonna be fantastic. Ashley. I do want to tell you
- 0:55Speaker 1: about something. I'm up to you right now. Okay, in Florida. Yes,
- 1:01Speaker 1: I'm in Florida. I've been talking about this golf tournament
- 1:03Speaker 1: for a long time. People are probably over it, but
- 1:05Speaker 1: that's okay. I'm here now. It's practice round day and
- 1:10Speaker 1: I'm staying in a really nice hotel. It's called the Wave.
- 1:13Speaker 1: It's at Lake Nona and the futures upon us. You
- 1:16Speaker 1: know why because both restrooms in my yes, my hotel
- 1:21Speaker 1: room has two bathrooms, which is very fancy. Um, they
- 1:25Speaker 1: have heated toilet seats. I had heated toilet seats in
- 1:28Speaker 1: my last hotel room, which uh, funnest seemed weird until
- 1:34Speaker 1: I experiencing multiple times and I was like, wait a second,
- 1:38Speaker 1: this is something to incorporate into a house. One day
- 1:42Speaker 1: it is, and then the toilet seat lifts as you
- 1:45Speaker 1: walk up to that. Yes, it is. Oh my goodness,
- 1:50Speaker 1: I mean, this is this is how uh that other
- 1:53Speaker 1: you know, person of people live And I ain't hating
- 1:56Speaker 1: it for a bit. This feels good. This is something else. Um.
- 2:02Speaker 1: All right, well, hey, we are gonna go through bachelor Head.
- 2:06Speaker 1: That's gonna through some bachelor's sayings. We're gonna bring Renee on.
- 2:09Speaker 1: But before we do, let's take a break with the
- 2:12Speaker 1: almost serious podcast. Actually, we're running through some of the
- 2:25Speaker 1: former Bachelor's like titles today just to remind people the
- 2:32Speaker 1: sayings going into this season. We're going to compare them
- 2:36Speaker 1: and see who's maybe like the best and the worst.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I've always had an issue with mine. I don't know
- 2:42Speaker 1: if I've ever told you why, but I've always had
- 2:43Speaker 1: an issue with mine. Um, but we'll start with Clayton's here.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Clayton's is everyone loves an underdog. Do you feel like
- 2:52Speaker 1: Clayton was an underdog? No? I think the word the
- 2:56Speaker 1: word underdog is a really nice way of saying somebody
- 3:00Speaker 1: who we didn't know. Yes, somebody that you you haven't
- 3:05Speaker 1: watched yet. Uh, mine was. And I'm sure I've mentioned
- 3:09Speaker 1: the podcast before. This really played with my head a lot.
- 3:13Speaker 1: My headline was the Perfect Ben, which when you first
- 3:17Speaker 1: see it would be sweet. And when I first saw
- 3:18Speaker 1: it the first time, I was like, wow, Like that
- 3:20Speaker 1: is really crazy that they would think that the perfect
- 3:24Speaker 1: because it's but I took it as a compliment, and
- 3:28Speaker 1: then over time I realized that all it did was
- 3:31Speaker 1: set myself up for failure, Like all it did was
- 3:36Speaker 1: setting me up to be um to fall short of this,
- 3:40Speaker 1: And over time it really started to mess with me. Hey, Ben,
- 3:44Speaker 1: years probably stuck with you more than any other catchphrase.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I feel like it got followed like it it was
- 3:51Speaker 1: like teased throughout the season. M And I just think
- 3:55Speaker 1: that people refer to you by that more than any other. Well.
- 4:01Speaker 1: The the interesting thing with that too is I just
- 4:03Speaker 1: took a three day intensive like counseling session, and one
- 4:08Speaker 1: of my weaknesses is that, like, I won't forgive myself
- 4:12Speaker 1: unless I reach perfection, and you never reach perfection, so
- 4:15Speaker 1: you never forgive yourself. And so then to have this
- 4:18Speaker 1: as your tagline, well it was not exactly healthy, but
- 4:22Speaker 1: it's okay. We got peters, which is expect turbulence. I
- 4:27Speaker 1: thought that one was really good, really good, especially for
- 4:31Speaker 1: the season it was. It was perfect for that season.
- 4:36Speaker 1: A couple more here Nix's fourth times the Charm. I'm
- 4:40Speaker 1: sure he hated that so much. I like it though,
- 4:44Speaker 1: Uh it was okay. Final one maybe, uh, just the
- 4:49Speaker 1: hardest one of them all, like the one that just
- 4:52Speaker 1: I mean even the profile, the picture of it is tough.
- 4:55Speaker 1: But Colton Underwood's was what does he have to lose?
- 4:59Speaker 1: And he's dressed up in the same shirt that uh
- 5:02Speaker 1: four year old virgin was dressed up. Do you think
- 5:05Speaker 1: they had to get rights to that? Yeah? I don't.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I'm sure they did, but my goodness, this is a
- 5:13Speaker 1: tough like all these others are kind of like, you know,
- 5:16Speaker 1: smoldering and like you look in their best and then
- 5:18Speaker 1: you have colden, like holding a rose staring up into
- 5:21Speaker 1: the sky. It is really funny. I remember when that
- 5:25Speaker 1: came out. I was like, oh my god, of course
- 5:28Speaker 1: they did. There are a couple more. You don't want
- 5:31Speaker 1: to go through them. I don't think we should go
- 5:34Speaker 1: through them all, but I think we should at least do.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Jesse Palmer's host of The Bachelor, so he says, yeah,
- 5:41Speaker 1: his is the Giants quarterback is making a play for ladies,
- 5:47Speaker 1: but it's a whole new game because one of them
- 5:51Speaker 1: is his spy. Oh wait, so when somebody asked, has
- 6:00Speaker 1: the show change? I would use this as an example.
- 6:05Speaker 1: His tagline is an explanation for his season. The New
- 6:09Speaker 1: York Giants quarterback is making a play for ladies, but
- 6:12Speaker 1: it's a whole new game because one of them is
- 6:14Speaker 1: a spot sounds like a movie. It's because one of
- 6:21Speaker 1: them is his spy. It's it seems ridiculous. Well, uh,
- 6:27Speaker 1: it's really interesting to go through all these If you
- 6:29Speaker 1: get a chance, listeners google The Bachelor's uh like cover sayings,
- 6:35Speaker 1: go through them all there. Some of them are funny,
- 6:38Speaker 1: some of them are really long, some of them don't
- 6:39Speaker 1: make a lot of sense. Some of them really do,
- 6:41Speaker 1: and I feel like, uh, it does kind of show
- 6:45Speaker 1: how much the show has changed over the years, because
- 6:49Speaker 1: now we just have taglines. We used to have like
- 6:51Speaker 1: a paragraph. Yeah, well, can we just say christuls is
- 6:55Speaker 1: because I was on that season traditional period, classes, period,
- 7:01Speaker 1: all American period. I like it. I'm looking at the picture.
- 7:08Speaker 1: He's dressed up like it's a rose ceremony, but he's
- 7:12Speaker 1: got his shoulder up against a barn and it kind
- 7:15Speaker 1: of throws me back, and I have all the feelings
- 7:18Speaker 1: again and I like it. Ah, so good. Hey, actually
- 7:23Speaker 1: I do want to add we were talking about Nick.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I just spent the weekend with Nick and Natalie. Yes Angeles.
- 7:29Speaker 1: That pizza that he made for you that you guys
- 7:32Speaker 1: both showed off on Instagram looked incredible, Ashley, I AMTI.
- 7:37Speaker 1: You know, Nick and I have had our journey and friendship. Right.
- 7:40Speaker 1: It went from like, hey, he came on Caitlin's season.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I didn't really know a lot about him. I just
- 7:45Speaker 1: kind of stayed out of the drama that just didn't
- 7:46Speaker 1: really pay much attention to it. UM mostly just ignored him,
- 7:51Speaker 1: and then over time we got kind of like competitive,
- 7:54Speaker 1: Like there was envy and there was a little jealousy
- 7:56Speaker 1: on both ends for both of us, and now really
- 8:00Speaker 1: good friends and like I really love Nick. I've gotten
- 8:04Speaker 1: to know Nick. Nick is still Nick. And Nick will
- 8:06Speaker 1: tell you that. Like there's moments where like he'll disappear
- 8:09Speaker 1: onto his phone for an hour and a half when
- 8:11Speaker 1: you're like in the same room and as you're like,
- 8:12Speaker 1: well this is cool, like I don't know what, but um,
- 8:16Speaker 1: Natalie is incredible, like the perfect compliment to him. She
- 8:21Speaker 1: brings out the best in him. It was so good
- 8:24Speaker 1: to spend I mean, I stayed at their house. Their
- 8:26Speaker 1: house is awesome. I stayed there, so I got to
- 8:30Speaker 1: spend all day with him. In the evening and then
- 8:32Speaker 1: Nick made this pizza as you're referring to, actually I'm
- 8:36Speaker 1: not playing and and like it was one of the
- 8:40Speaker 1: best bites of pizza I've ever had. When he was
- 8:44Speaker 1: cutting through it on your Instagram story, I was like
- 8:47Speaker 1: that crunch of that crisp. I like you to box
- 8:52Speaker 1: that up and send it to me. Yeah, next time
- 8:55Speaker 1: you're with him, you have to have him make it
- 8:56Speaker 1: for you. Going he takes it very serious, like he
- 9:00Speaker 1: he's he kind of explained it, what like it would
- 9:03Speaker 1: take me a couple of times to learn how to
- 9:05Speaker 1: do it because Natalie wants to learn how to do it,
- 9:08Speaker 1: and he would just rather do it himself because I mean,
- 9:10Speaker 1: I'm I'm not playing. He's mastered it like that, the
- 9:14Speaker 1: like the thing crusted, the ingredients on top. He gets
- 9:17Speaker 1: everything from Italy, Oh he does. I mean that's key.
- 9:21Speaker 1: When Jared was in a pizza making stage, he didn't
- 9:25Speaker 1: do so much of the crispy thin crust. It was
- 9:28Speaker 1: more of like a Napoleon, you know, Napoleon pizza, and
- 9:33Speaker 1: we would get all the ingredients from Italy. It's just
- 9:36Speaker 1: so critical if you guys don't know what Italy is.
- 9:40Speaker 1: It's like an Italian grocery store that's really only in
- 9:42Speaker 1: major cities. Yeah, look at it. It's great and so yeah,
- 9:46Speaker 1: I mean it was all around in a terrific dam
- 9:48Speaker 1: very thankfully let me stay with them and uh and
- 9:52Speaker 1: just we had a tremendous time together at their house.
- 9:55Speaker 1: They welcomed me in with open arms. It was great.
- 9:57Speaker 1: So how was the dog? Ah? So good? Jeff is
- 10:02Speaker 1: Jeff is a sweet, sweet pup, very cuddly, very loving.
- 10:06Speaker 1: In fact, I think being with Jeff made me even
- 10:10Speaker 1: more excited to get our dog. Is it happening in
- 10:13Speaker 1: less than two two weeks? I think is getting a dog? Guys,
- 10:19Speaker 1: if you didn't know, Ben hasn't had a dog for
- 10:23Speaker 1: a way over a decade because he was traumatized by
- 10:28Speaker 1: the loss of his childhood dog that he didn't think
- 10:31Speaker 1: he could do it again. And now he's gonna find
- 10:36Speaker 1: the love and another dog. I was pressured. I definitely
- 10:40Speaker 1: think my wife was like, hey, we should get a dog,
- 10:42Speaker 1: and then I was like, yeah, that's a good idea.
- 10:43Speaker 1: And then she's like, hey, no, like we should get
- 10:46Speaker 1: a dog, and um, yeah, I just love my pups
- 10:50Speaker 1: so much growing up that I just didn't want to
- 10:52Speaker 1: feel that pain again. But I am getting excited to
- 10:56Speaker 1: have something around us. We got the update that the
- 11:00Speaker 1: we should be reading about a week or two, and um,
- 11:03Speaker 1: I'm obviously down here in Landa right now, but that's
- 11:05Speaker 1: a big update in my life, Ashley. Before we get
- 11:09Speaker 1: into bachelor headlines, I got some messages this week wondering
- 11:14Speaker 1: how you're doing living at home. How is it going
- 11:17Speaker 1: so far? It's good. I'm going to bring Jared in
- 11:20Speaker 1: here now, what's up? Buddy, What up? Bro? How you doing?
- 11:25Speaker 1: I thought that, you know, Ben asked how living at
- 11:29Speaker 1: home was? I was here for ten days without you,
- 11:33Speaker 1: and then today we had to do a lot of
- 11:35Speaker 1: work together, so much fun, and then tomorrow we have
- 11:40Speaker 1: more work and then you leave me again and then
- 11:43Speaker 1: you go back to work at all for thirteen hours
- 11:46Speaker 1: a day. How are you doing? We're doing well? Is
- 11:49Speaker 1: that the question? It's a very leading question leading the witness. Um,
- 11:54Speaker 1: how are we doing? We're doing well? I mean it's
- 11:56Speaker 1: more than Jared's going to have a mental break out.
- 12:01Speaker 1: He's gonna have a Mariah carry overworked hospital stay? Is
- 12:05Speaker 1: that what happened to Mariah carry out? She went to
- 12:08Speaker 1: the hospital for being overworked? Why is that? Well, let's
- 12:11Speaker 1: but like let's describe it for the listeners and myself
- 12:14Speaker 1: because I don't know, like why, Jared are you feeling overworked?
- 12:18Speaker 1: I know the success of Audreys is something I was
- 12:21Speaker 1: even telling Nick and Natalie about how incredible it is
- 12:23Speaker 1: to see how much coffee you guys are buying from us,
- 12:25Speaker 1: Like that's a gift to us, and I hope it's
- 12:28Speaker 1: a gift to you. Um, but you know, then having Ashley, Uh,
- 12:33Speaker 1: there with their family, Like, where are you at emotionally
- 12:36Speaker 1: and mentally prepping, you know for this next stage life? Dude,
- 12:39Speaker 1: I'm an owner of a you know, a restaurant. I'm
- 12:42Speaker 1: just riddled with anxiety. That's what we do. That's what
- 12:44Speaker 1: the business is all about. Anybody who's listening and works
- 12:46Speaker 1: in the restaurant industry, you know, it's just like, Yeah,
- 12:49Speaker 1: you just constantly feel like you're keeping your head both
- 12:51Speaker 1: water so you're not drowning. This is what you've craved
- 12:54Speaker 1: for all the yeah that we that you weren't working,
- 12:58Speaker 1: and still I'm still glad of doing it. But obviously
- 13:01Speaker 1: there's a line, and that line is when you're working
- 13:03Speaker 1: a hundred hours a week. But I digress, dude. First
- 13:05Speaker 1: of all, your coffee is a huge gift. People are
- 13:07Speaker 1: loving it. I love serving your coffee. People love the
- 13:09Speaker 1: story of it, they love the taste of it. They
- 13:11Speaker 1: love that there's a bachelor twist in there. So it's
- 13:14Speaker 1: it's it's all positive, which has been awesome. People, like
- 13:18Speaker 1: we talked about in the email, people want to buy
- 13:20Speaker 1: the coffee for their for you know, their home. So
- 13:22Speaker 1: it works out really well and it's getting better. I
- 13:25Speaker 1: can feel it. Getting better, you know, we're getting more
- 13:28Speaker 1: structured and knock on wood, a lot of people have
- 13:30Speaker 1: come in and said, wow, it feels like your business
- 13:32Speaker 1: has been running for years, which has been extremely nice,
- 13:36Speaker 1: and that a lot of preparation, a lot of work,
- 13:38Speaker 1: and a lot of passion has gone into that. But
- 13:42Speaker 1: this was his first time away from the shop as
- 13:45Speaker 1: it's been open. Yeah, so I've obviously been texting my managers.
- 13:48Speaker 1: They probably hate me because I'm like, how's it going,
- 13:50Speaker 1: how's it going? What are you guys doing? Our customers happy?
- 13:52Speaker 1: Everything going well? And uh, but hey, what are you
- 13:55Speaker 1: gonna do? I'm paying the bill, so I get to
- 13:58Speaker 1: do whatever I want. Really, but I aggress. As as
- 14:01Speaker 1: for Ashley and I were doing well, I think it's
- 14:05Speaker 1: just been I'm feeling a little guilty because I've been
- 14:07Speaker 1: away and this is the last couple of weeks that
- 14:09Speaker 1: Ashley and I are going to be a couple before
- 14:12Speaker 1: we have a child in our life, and it's just weird.
- 14:15Speaker 1: It's weird. I think he realizes that we're having a
- 14:17Speaker 1: child in a couple of weeks. Oh, I realize it.
- 14:19Speaker 1: But I've talked to a couple of guys that just
- 14:21Speaker 1: feel like they weren't really connected to their kid until
- 14:23Speaker 1: they were born, because it's like, my body's not changing.
- 14:27Speaker 1: You're just you know, achy all the time and can't
- 14:30Speaker 1: breathe and complaining, so nothing really changes there. He um
- 14:35Speaker 1: doesn't even care about feeling my belly, though I care
- 14:37Speaker 1: about feeling your belly. It's just I feel the kid.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I almost said his name. Um. I feel him kick
- 14:44Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh, that's cool, and then I'm done.
- 14:47Speaker 1: He's well, it's like how long, you know, It's like, oh,
- 14:50Speaker 1: that's cool. It's so crazy, all right, I'm gonna I'm
- 14:54Speaker 1: gonna go now. It is interesting, Jared, And I think
- 14:59Speaker 1: I'll be similar to you. I have friends who have
- 15:01Speaker 1: had kids and they've been like obsessed with the process
- 15:05Speaker 1: of pregnancy and like, well, like I feel I've seen
- 15:09Speaker 1: them connected and like listening to the baby right and
- 15:12Speaker 1: all this stuff. And for me, I think I'll be
- 15:14Speaker 1: similar to you or it's like this is crazy and awesome.
- 15:17Speaker 1: But I really think there's going to be a moment
- 15:19Speaker 1: after that baby is born. I would expect where I
- 15:22Speaker 1: finally feel like, oh my gosh, I'm a dad. But
- 15:26Speaker 1: right and you know, right now, I don't think there's
- 15:28Speaker 1: anything like abnormal to to what you're feeling. Yeah, I've
- 15:32Speaker 1: heard it many times. It's just right now, it looks
- 15:35Speaker 1: like Ashley just you know, went ham at dinner and
- 15:39Speaker 1: is really bloated. Is this funny that I used to
- 15:43Speaker 1: like when we get back from dinner and then I'd
- 15:44Speaker 1: pull my shirt down and I'd look at the alien.
- 15:46Speaker 1: I look like I'm seven months, I used to say.
- 15:49Speaker 1: I used to say I looked seven months. And now
- 15:50Speaker 1: we know that that is a huge job eight weeks.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Now we know what seven or eight months looks like.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Um um, yeah, So oh, so you're gonna go back
- 16:02Speaker 1: to the shop. You're gonna go back to Audrey's. When
- 16:05Speaker 1: are you coming back to spend time with Ashley before
- 16:09Speaker 1: the baby is born? Probably? You know, I'll come back
- 16:13Speaker 1: the first week in February at some point and just
- 16:15Speaker 1: stay down here until until the little little gag comes.
- 16:21Speaker 1: You're gonna have to come back before then, and there's
- 16:23Speaker 1: a there's a little well, no why the first week
- 16:27Speaker 1: and making sure like if you're if you're, if you're not,
- 16:30Speaker 1: you know, by February three or fourth, I'll be back.
- 16:34Speaker 1: That's not what we're talking about this now, I'm not
- 16:38Speaker 1: going to see you for it's only the seventeen and
- 16:43Speaker 1: then you're not going to come back until I'll come
- 16:45Speaker 1: back sooner then I don't know. Actually, this is what like,
- 16:51Speaker 1: this is what gets This is what we're all scared of.
- 16:53Speaker 1: We're not scared of anything. I mean, listen, you're giving
- 16:55Speaker 1: birth in an incredible hospital down in Virginia, Virginia. We're
- 16:58Speaker 1: running a business and have a new house in Rhode
- 17:01Speaker 1: Island that nobody lives in, nobody lives in right now,
- 17:04Speaker 1: which I find more about this, honestly, the shop than
- 17:06Speaker 1: the house. I don't really care about the house. But um,
- 17:10Speaker 1: you know, we're doing what we can and this is
- 17:11Speaker 1: what people do. You know, we're going to make it through.
- 17:14Speaker 1: I don't love this is what people do. This is
- 17:16Speaker 1: what people do. Do I laugh at myself too much. No,
- 17:22Speaker 1: it's good that you laugh at yourself. Um. I just
- 17:25Speaker 1: want to also say that I'm learning something new today.
- 17:28Speaker 1: I believe that Ashley is wearing a like belly shirt
- 17:32Speaker 1: as it while she's pregnant. I've never seen that done before,
- 17:36Speaker 1: but Jared, one of the gifts of actually being pregnant
- 17:38Speaker 1: has been how much I've learned and grown as a man,
- 17:41Speaker 1: prepared like as she's you know, sat here every week
- 17:44Speaker 1: with me. Is that a belly shirt you're wearing? It is.
- 17:48Speaker 1: We just took an Instagram and we needed something that
- 17:52Speaker 1: really showed off the size of the belly. I feel
- 17:54Speaker 1: like your belly is always out though. Yeah, it's because
- 17:56Speaker 1: nothing really fits right now. I'm like a dry us.
- 18:01Speaker 1: It's out. Yeah, the belly is just always out. It's
- 18:04Speaker 1: a look. It's a good look. Jared uh continued, Best

- 18:32Speaker 1: as we think of break here because we're gonna come
- 18:35Speaker 1: back whenever renee from the Batch Bracket on. I just
- 18:38Speaker 1: felt like our audience got to listen in on a
- 18:42Speaker 1: very good conversation between a husband and a wife, and
- 18:45Speaker 1: for that, I am appreciative. That is some authentic husband
- 18:50Speaker 1: wife chat. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Hey, hey wait, how does
- 18:54Speaker 1: it feel to be calling her wife? Did I ask
- 18:56Speaker 1: you this already? It feels weird, it feels awesome some
- 19:00Speaker 1: like you feel very like very strong, Like it's so awesome.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Like when you're on the phone and you're like with
- 19:07Speaker 1: on the phone with somebody who's like business wise or
- 19:10Speaker 1: like I don't know, construction or something, and you're like, oh,
- 19:14Speaker 1: I have to check with my wife. I have to
- 19:16Speaker 1: check with my husband. You're like, oh, like that's something
- 19:19Speaker 1: you take seriously. How to check with my girlfriend my boyfriend?
- 19:22Speaker 1: You're like, that's cute. See, this is like for real,
- 19:26Speaker 1: this is the decision. Hey, it is for real, and
- 19:30Speaker 1: we have the real winner of the batch bracket up next.
- 19:38Speaker 1: What's going on? Everyone? I'm Peter Webber. You may know
- 19:41Speaker 1: me as the Bachelor, but I'm also a pilot and
- 19:45Speaker 1: I'm super happy to be guest hosting How Men Think.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I'm going to attempt to answer all your questions and
- 19:52Speaker 1: solve the fascinating question of just how men think. Let's
- 19:57Speaker 1: get into it. This is How Men Think? An I
- 20:00Speaker 1: Heart Radio London audio production Listen each Thursday on the
- 20:04Speaker 1: I Heart Radio app, Apple podcast or wherever you get
- 20:08Speaker 1: your podcast. Hey Renee, welcome to the Almost same As podcast.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Thanks for playing bats bracket and dominating. Thank you, thank
- 20:20Speaker 1: you so much for having me. I'm happy to be here. Man,
- 20:24Speaker 1: you crushed it. You just destroyed the batch bracket I did. Yeah,
- 20:30Speaker 1: my friends won't play with me anymore. Was there any
- 20:35Speaker 1: week that you feel like you're stumped at what to
- 20:39Speaker 1: respond with? There were some weeks towards the beginning where
- 20:43Speaker 1: you know, it was really hard with like the way
- 20:45Speaker 1: they do points. Um, it was kind of just like
- 20:49Speaker 1: anyone's game. Towards the end, I feel like it gets
- 20:51Speaker 1: a little easier once it's narrowed down. But um, yeah,
- 20:56Speaker 1: it's it's always the first week is the toughest when
- 20:58Speaker 1: you don't know anyone yet and anyone could do anything.
- 21:02Speaker 1: There's not too much you know, past stuff to work
- 21:06Speaker 1: on too, no past clues we really want to find
- 21:11Speaker 1: out about you. Um. Also, but it brings up something
- 21:15Speaker 1: that we find very interesting. We talked about many times
- 21:18Speaker 1: since our original winner came on. What was your strategy?
- 21:21Speaker 1: Because you did do so well, how did you continue
- 21:26Speaker 1: to not only pick good weeks, but like keep up
- 21:29Speaker 1: the pace and beat everybody? Yeah, so my strategy. So
- 21:34Speaker 1: I I was honestly, um, not even able to watch
- 21:40Speaker 1: the full episodes, like I was working a ton, So
- 21:44Speaker 1: sometimes I could only even just watch the previews before
- 21:47Speaker 1: I had to set my bracket, and so I would
- 21:50Speaker 1: really just look at those. Um I'm in a discord
- 21:54Speaker 1: group of some people who are really awesome at slew thing. Um.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Sometimes I would read the Bachelor subreddit. Uh and yeah,
- 22:07Speaker 1: just really looking at the previews and trying to like, see,
- 22:11Speaker 1: you know, who's in the shops for next week, so
- 22:14Speaker 1: some s thing. Okay, did you sense Nate winning from
- 22:18Speaker 1: the beginning? Um? Yeah, yeah, I had a feelings. Interesting
- 22:26Speaker 1: why some of us never expected Nate? Yeah, did you
- 22:31Speaker 1: see spoilers? I try not to read like specific spoilers,
- 22:37Speaker 1: more just like like slew thing, like people figuring it
- 22:41Speaker 1: out from shots of you know, from the previews and stuff. Um. Yeah,
- 22:48Speaker 1: so it was more just like um, when like uh
- 22:54Speaker 1: preview footage would come out, there were like a ton
- 22:56Speaker 1: of shots of Nate I don't know, and they just
- 22:59Speaker 1: had really great chemistry. I had a feeling. Now, Um,
- 23:05Speaker 1: tell us about you, So are you a big Bachelor friend?
- 23:08Speaker 1: Have been watching for a while, where you from I'll
- 23:10Speaker 1: just tell us about you so people can understand who
- 23:13Speaker 1: our champion is. UM. Yeah, so I'm from Boston. I
- 23:17Speaker 1: actually I have not been watching for all that long.
- 23:22Speaker 1: My mom was has been a big fan for forever.
- 23:26Speaker 1: I've probably only watched the past. I think Ari's season
- 23:31Speaker 1: was the first season I watched UM, but I've only
- 23:35Speaker 1: been doing the slew thing since Matt's season. I was
- 23:38Speaker 1: just board during the pandemic. My friends were like, hey,
- 23:41Speaker 1: we're starting a league for money, and I was like, cool,
- 23:44Speaker 1: I got nothing better to do, let's let's do this.
- 23:47Speaker 1: And it turns out I was pretty good at it.
- 23:49Speaker 1: A league for money? How much did you win amongst
- 23:52Speaker 1: the friend group for this, I think I won like
- 23:55Speaker 1: three dollars the first Yeah for you the first time. Yeah.
- 24:04Speaker 1: I've played with some of my friends, uh, like two
- 24:08Speaker 1: or three seasons until they realized I was just winning
- 24:12Speaker 1: and they were like, you know, let's let's not do
- 24:14Speaker 1: this for money anymore. There we have the number one
- 24:20Speaker 1: Bachelor bracket player in the country on this podcast right now.
- 24:25Speaker 1: We didn't even really know that. We knew she was good,
- 24:27Speaker 1: we didn't know she was great and she is great. Hey,
- 24:33Speaker 1: before we let you go, Um, really just I mean,
- 24:36Speaker 1: you have over a hundred thousand people that will be
- 24:39Speaker 1: listening to this podcast. What is it in your life
- 24:43Speaker 1: your most passionate about anything? You want to share, anything
- 24:45Speaker 1: you're into that you want to bring attention to. Uh,
- 24:48Speaker 1: you have the stage at your moment if you want
- 24:51Speaker 1: to say anything, Man, put me on the spot. Huh.
- 24:57Speaker 1: I mean, woof, I'm gonna say shout out to my
- 25:04Speaker 1: boyfriend's music project, Veins Veins. Can we look it up
- 25:09Speaker 1: on Spotify or Google? Yeah, Spotify, v A I N
- 25:13Speaker 1: E S. He's fantastic. Um, that's what we're working on
- 25:18Speaker 1: right now. So good plug. Yeah yeah, well I have
- 25:23Speaker 1: the audience. That's that. I'll shout out awesome, Thanks Renee,
- 25:28Speaker 1: thanks for playing and thanks for rocking the game of course,
- 25:33Speaker 1: thank you. So Ashley, it's time for a Bachelor headlines. Yes, listeners,
- 25:39Speaker 1: it's time for Bachelor headlines with their resident expert. Yeah
- 25:45Speaker 1: you like that you always comment on that? Is that's
- 25:48Speaker 1: a compliment? You know that? Right? Yes? Do you want
- 25:51Speaker 1: to be like I feel like you're an expert. I
- 25:54Speaker 1: feel like you care. Um, so a couple of headlines
- 25:59Speaker 1: a day. I do want to preface this was say, um,
- 26:03Speaker 1: with the passing of Clint Artless. Uh, it was shocking.
- 26:07Speaker 1: It was texted about all over. I actually called Jared
- 26:11Speaker 1: as soon as I saw the headline come through. There's
- 26:14Speaker 1: gonna be some headlines about Clint's passing today. There's still
- 26:17Speaker 1: not a lot of um information on it. But I
- 26:21Speaker 1: want to I want to say this. I don't know
- 26:23Speaker 1: if you ever got to be around him actually, but um,
- 26:27Speaker 1: you know, he was obviously on the season with with
- 26:30Speaker 1: me during Caitlyn's time as the bachelorette. I did not speak.
- 26:34Speaker 1: I cannot say I spoke to Clint more than um
- 26:38Speaker 1: A handful of times after that season ended. We had
- 26:41Speaker 1: a text thread. We did some fantasy stuff, but like nothing,
- 26:45Speaker 1: um serious. Was he there for a week on your season? Forget?
- 26:52Speaker 1: Was he let me used during episode two? I think
- 26:56Speaker 1: he was there for two weeks and he obviously kind
- 26:59Speaker 1: of came off that and it's like a villain or
- 27:01Speaker 1: he was kind of in the JJ realm where him
- 27:03Speaker 1: and JJ you know, had their things. Yeah, funny villains.
- 27:09Speaker 1: And then Clint went home. It wasn't the best uh
- 27:11Speaker 1: look for Clint during the season. But this is what
- 27:14Speaker 1: all of us and I was talking to Nick about
- 27:16Speaker 1: this too when I was with him. Took away from
- 27:18Speaker 1: from knowing Clint. Clint wasn't incredibly intelligent, insanely creative, an
- 27:24Speaker 1: amazing painter. He painted a picture if you remember that night,
- 27:27Speaker 1: that was iconic. It was of Chris Harrison. H and
- 27:32Speaker 1: he he was. He was almost intimidating because of his curiosity,
- 27:40Speaker 1: his intellect, his ability to respond because he just knew
- 27:44Speaker 1: so much. Um And I know the people around him
- 27:47Speaker 1: were impacted by him for some very similar things. He
- 27:50Speaker 1: was a leader, he was creative, very protecting, very loving.
- 27:54Speaker 1: And it is a loss to Bachelor It's a shocking
- 27:56Speaker 1: loss to Bachelor Nation, losing Clint. I met Clint twice,
- 28:03Speaker 1: one at the Mentel all and then one one time
- 28:07Speaker 1: at JJ's wedding. Actually and yeah, nothing but nice things
- 28:11Speaker 1: to say about him. Um And like you said, my producer,
- 28:17Speaker 1: my friend, one of my best friends who's a producer,
- 28:19Speaker 1: that the exact same thing. She just like that was
- 28:23Speaker 1: like a very intriguing guy to be around. He was
- 28:26Speaker 1: so smart, he was so creative and artistic, and Jared,
- 28:31Speaker 1: you know, he he kept in touch with him in
- 28:33Speaker 1: a similar sort of way like big group messages fantasy
- 28:38Speaker 1: football and stuff like that. But everybody who actually spent
- 28:43Speaker 1: time with clintson to really like being around him. Um,
- 28:46Speaker 1: so so sad. Don't know again like how he passed,
- 28:51Speaker 1: but we did get some quotes um this week. This
- 28:55Speaker 1: one's from his sister Taylor. It says, with a great sadness,
- 28:59Speaker 1: it's with the sadness to tell you that my family
- 29:02Speaker 1: has lost my best friend and older brother, Clint on
- 29:05Speaker 1: the morning of January. Please respect our families privacy as
- 29:10Speaker 1: we cope with this great loss. Uh Nick went on
- 29:14Speaker 1: Twitter and said, a very kind, unique and talented person
- 29:17Speaker 1: just heard of the passing of Clint. UM got to
- 29:20Speaker 1: know him a little bit over our time on Caitlin season,
- 29:24Speaker 1: and I will always enjoy our time and conversations. Caitlin
- 29:28Speaker 1: Brusso also got on Instagram story and said, this is
- 29:33Speaker 1: an insta Instagram story. I did not think i'd be
- 29:36Speaker 1: doing tonight. Clint, who was on my season in The Bachelorrette,
- 29:39Speaker 1: I'm going to say tragically, he's tragically passed thirty four
- 29:44Speaker 1: years old. I'm not sure what happened, how it happened. Um,
- 29:49Speaker 1: even though things didn't didn't end the best on the
- 29:52Speaker 1: best terms for us. From his time on the show
- 29:55Speaker 1: to today, I have heard nothing but incredible things about
- 29:58Speaker 1: that person. From his here's, his students, as coaches, as teachers,
- 30:02Speaker 1: his friends and family. Clint was very well respected in
- 30:06Speaker 1: this world. UM. She also says that she doesn't know
- 30:11Speaker 1: much about how you know, the circumstances around his passing.
- 30:14Speaker 1: It's none of my business, she said. UM, this s
- 30:16Speaker 1: Insan story is literally just to say to anyone who
- 30:20Speaker 1: knows him who might follow me, UM, that I am
- 30:24Speaker 1: so sorry. It's such a huge loss, and honestly I'm
- 30:28Speaker 1: just besides myself with this news. We also have a
- 30:32Speaker 1: little bit of an update from the police in his town.
- 30:37Speaker 1: It said that he was found He's found dead at
- 30:42Speaker 1: a private residence Tuesday, January eleven. UM. They confirmed that
- 30:47Speaker 1: is Clinton and that um there is no foul play
- 30:52Speaker 1: and suspected as of right now, but the matter is
- 30:55Speaker 1: currently under investigation by the police. Our thoughts are Within's family.
- 31:00Speaker 1: We will respect their privacy, UM, but we just wanted
- 31:03Speaker 1: to give a tribute to somebody within Batchel Nation, a
- 31:06Speaker 1: part of this family that has unfortunately passed away way
- 31:10Speaker 1: way too early. Well, there's no easy way to switch gears. UM.
- 31:15Speaker 1: And to switch subjects. But we are going to con
- 31:19Speaker 1: continue with Bachelor headlines, and the next one is Bachelor's Cassidy.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Tim Brooks Slams Clayton Are the Bachelor compares side Peace
- 31:29Speaker 1: drama to Sally Carson. This according to US Weekly article, Okay,
- 31:34Speaker 1: so this is like the silliest thing I've ever seen. Well,
- 31:38Speaker 1: she got on Instagram and spoiled her season. She talks
- 31:42Speaker 1: about her own elimination on December one, before her season
- 31:49Speaker 1: even started airing. This is what she says. I mean,
- 31:57Speaker 1: I was saying last week that Cassidy didn't seem like
- 32:00Speaker 1: that much of the villain to me, and that was like, en,
- 32:04Speaker 1: she seems like a real villain. Cassidy. Well, now that
- 32:08Speaker 1: I've seen these videos that she posted on January, I'm like,
- 32:13Speaker 1: oh no, no no, okay, So Cassidy is um she's trouble.
- 32:17Speaker 1: This is what she says. I love getting ready for
- 32:21Speaker 1: dates nowadays because it's literally just me in the mirror, like,
- 32:26Speaker 1: wait a second, this man should be so effing lucky.
- 32:30Speaker 1: And then I remember that, wait a second, even though
- 32:33Speaker 1: I'm about to be on national television, men still treat
- 32:37Speaker 1: me like but that's okay, that's all right, because not
- 32:42Speaker 1: for long, not for effing long. She continues to say, Anyways,
- 32:49Speaker 1: I think I'm going to be a great influencer. Again, guys,
- 32:53Speaker 1: this is before her season even premieres. I feel like
- 32:57Speaker 1: I'm really entertaining. You're entertained, right, you buy anything I'm
- 33:03Speaker 1: telling you? Right, even if it's complete both I think. So, wait,
- 33:09Speaker 1: don't answer that it's yes. I mean, it's pretty obvious.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Is she making Is this like a whole tongue in
- 33:16Speaker 1: cheek monologue. It's so over the top it almost seems
- 33:20Speaker 1: like she's making fun of other influencers who have come
- 33:25Speaker 1: from the show. She also goes on to say to
- 33:29Speaker 1: Um to address cloud chasers in her d M s
- 33:34Speaker 1: insinuating that men are trying to get with her now
- 33:38Speaker 1: because she's about to be on TV. She says, men
- 33:40Speaker 1: are trash. So let's go back for a second and
- 33:47Speaker 1: remind you that Sally, of course, was that girl who
- 33:53Speaker 1: went to Colton's room. Colton, Oh my god, we're all
- 33:56Speaker 1: doing it, aren't We went to Clayton's room and said like,
- 34:00Speaker 1: I can't be here. I was recently engaged. It doesn't
- 34:04Speaker 1: feel right. He wanted to give her a rose. Well,
- 34:08Speaker 1: this is. This is Cassidy addressing this on on this
- 34:11Speaker 1: resurfaced video. She was, I realized that I am normally
- 34:17Speaker 1: being dramatic, but you as in Clayton, We're gonna give
- 34:22Speaker 1: Sally a rose even though she was engaged last week.
- 34:27Speaker 1: This is actually ironic and I kind of like the
- 34:30Speaker 1: fact that she pointed this out. She was a Meanwhile,
- 34:35Speaker 1: I've someone a few months ago and I got sent home. Okay, No,
- 34:43Speaker 1: it's cool. I get it. I get it. I get
- 34:47Speaker 1: what we're made of here. I get this stuff that
- 34:50Speaker 1: this stuff is happening, Go fuck yourself. Clayton Eckard. This
- 34:55Speaker 1: is what she on Instagram this past week. Um, I
- 35:02Speaker 1: think that there's a little bit of a point she
- 35:07Speaker 1: gets in trouble for having like a friends with benefits
- 35:11Speaker 1: at home, because we know that this week she was
- 35:12Speaker 1: called out, you know, for having a guy at home.
- 35:15Speaker 1: We debated it on last week's episode whether it was
- 35:18Speaker 1: kosher or not. But this is It is funny that
- 35:22Speaker 1: he eliminated one girl with a fiance but wouldn't really
- 35:25Speaker 1: eliminate the girl who just hooked up with somebody casually.
- 35:30Speaker 1: But the fact that she goes on Instagram this past
- 35:33Speaker 1: week says says, f you Clayton. I mean that's really
- 35:39Speaker 1: not tasteful. Um. But also she also um spoils the
- 35:45Speaker 1: show by saying she gets eliminated. Do you remember Ben
- 35:48Speaker 1: a couple of days ago, we were like, is she
- 35:51Speaker 1: going to get eliminated for this or is she going
- 35:53Speaker 1: to hang around for a few more weeks? Well we
- 35:54Speaker 1: have our answer. She literally spoiled the show, which is
- 36:01Speaker 1: contractually just bad in general, just not a good look. Um.
- 36:07Speaker 1: There's a lot there, a lot of sayings, a lot
- 36:10Speaker 1: of things going on. She's not happy. It's going to
- 36:13Speaker 1: be interesting to see how she exits, what she does
- 36:16Speaker 1: when she exits, and to see how much we hear
- 36:18Speaker 1: of Cassidy as time moves on. Now, Um, who knows,
- 36:22Speaker 1: we might not see much of her. We might see
- 36:24Speaker 1: a lot of her, but it's it's hard to tell.
- 36:28Speaker 1: I can't imagine that even bring her to Paradise after
- 36:32Speaker 1: she spoiled the show like that. Yeah, she probably just
- 36:36Speaker 1: she probably just did not book her ticket to Mexico. Well,
- 36:39Speaker 1: we only have one other headline today. Katie Thurston and
- 36:42Speaker 1: boyfriend John Hersey reunite with bachelorette Michael A. Her quote
- 36:48Speaker 1: is Katie's quote is this feels like a nightmare. Yes,
- 36:54Speaker 1: uh yeah, so that seems it seems weird, right, but
- 36:57Speaker 1: it was apparently anything but off word. She was joking
- 37:02Speaker 1: when she said that that she was on a group
- 37:04Speaker 1: date basically, um, with Michael and her new boyfriend John.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Feels like a nightmare. Um, but that's just what she
- 37:13Speaker 1: captioned her picture. It was a selfie. Uh yeah. So
- 37:18Speaker 1: they were just like hanging out sunset meal in Mexico
- 37:23Speaker 1: and they it wasn't just it wasn't just them. Also,
- 37:27Speaker 1: Luke Stone was there and um, it was just it
- 37:31Speaker 1: was all fun. So not really a nightmare. But Katie
- 37:34Speaker 1: is a jokester. They were together in Mexico, they hung
- 37:38Speaker 1: out a big group setting. Um, it looked like they
- 37:41Speaker 1: had a good time, and that's something that's always fun
- 37:44Speaker 1: when you can kind of break through the awkwardness and
- 37:48Speaker 1: just have a good time together as people will. Hey,
- 37:51Speaker 1: that's all we got for today's episode of the Almost
- 37:53Speaker 1: Famous Podcast. Thank you for listening, thank you for joining us.
- 37:56Speaker 1: We're gonna be back here next week, Yes we will.
- 37:59Speaker 1: It's a huge episode. I'm not gonna tell you why,
- 38:01Speaker 1: but it's a big episode. A lot going on, and
- 38:03Speaker 1: we're also gonna be breaking down Clayton's next episode as
- 38:07Speaker 1: the Bachelor. We'll be back with the Almost Famous podcast
- 38:10Speaker 1: until then, I've been been by guys. Follow the Benn
