- 0:50Speaker 1: Richard K. I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking

- 0:56Speaker 1: us each day as Richard shares from God's work with notes, quotes,
- 0:59Speaker 1: and stories along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:02Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:05Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that he has
- 1:08Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. Now, if
- 1:11Speaker 1: you miss a portion of today's broadcast or would like
- 1:14Speaker 1: to recommend it to a friend, you can hear this
- 1:16Speaker 1: program anytime online at Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now
- 1:21Speaker 1: here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:25Speaker 2: In yesterday's segment of War and Victory the Christian by
- 1:28Speaker 2: the Faith, we actually saw that Satan was cursed. His
- 1:34Speaker 2: future in his complete lifespan would be changed because of
- 1:42Speaker 2: what he did as he deceived man into disobedience and sin.
- 1:50Speaker 2: But we also know that from what we read in
- 1:53Speaker 2: Genesis three and verse fifteen that God provided a promise
- 2:00Speaker 2: in his unlimited capacity. God made the promise to man
- 2:04Speaker 2: that he would send a savior who would defeat the
- 2:08Speaker 2: devil and restore man. To his purposed relationship with God,
- 2:14Speaker 2: his creator. You see, friends, our creator, the god of
- 2:17Speaker 2: the entire universe, made a provision for us so that
- 2:23Speaker 2: we could once again have fellowship with him. Now, Satan
- 2:27Speaker 2: did everything that he could to blot out God's promise
- 2:31Speaker 2: from the mind of man. Continuing throughout history, he kept
- 2:35Speaker 2: man in his bondage of sin. He used every unholy thought, actor,
- 2:41Speaker 2: deed to bind man to himself, and at one point
- 2:46Speaker 2: it would seem he actually won, because God brought a
- 2:50Speaker 2: great flood and destroyed everything except one family belonging to
- 2:57Speaker 2: a man named Noah. And Noah, according to Genesis chapter
- 3:03Speaker 2: six and verses one through eight, Noah found grace in
- 3:09Speaker 2: the eyes of the Lord. In order for God to
- 3:13Speaker 2: keep his promise to man, he provided protection for the
- 3:18Speaker 2: human race, even though their deeds became more and more sinful.
- 3:24Speaker 2: He brought the law to a man named Moses to
- 3:27Speaker 2: show the people what God truly expected of them. We
- 3:32Speaker 2: find that account well defined in Exodus chapter twenty, verses
- 3:38Speaker 2: one through seventeen. The people constantly broke the laws, and
- 3:43Speaker 2: they made more laws of their own, but God still
- 3:49Speaker 2: kept his promise. He made an example of one group
- 3:52Speaker 2: of people called the Israelites, hoping that they would be
- 3:57Speaker 2: true to His commandments. But in his mercy, he made
- 4:02Speaker 2: a way for them to receive forgiveness and restoration of
- 4:07Speaker 2: the relationship when they themselves were victims of sin. God
- 4:13Speaker 2: instituted animal sacrifice for the temporary act of redemption from sin,
- 4:21Speaker 2: and the priesthood continued the performance of these sacrificial rites.
- 4:27Speaker 2: The slaying or blood sacrifice of various types of animals
- 4:32Speaker 2: was then recognized by God as payment or covering for
- 4:38Speaker 2: sins of the people. But this ritual was repeated over
- 4:43Speaker 2: and over again, so that it served only to point
- 4:48Speaker 2: the way to the promised more excellent sacrifice once and
- 4:55Speaker 2: for all mankind. In Hebrews nine and Verses eleven and twelve,
- 5:03Speaker 2: we find that God provided a sacrifice in his own son,
- 5:11Speaker 2: and that sacrifice was not the same as bulls or
- 5:16Speaker 2: goats or other animals that were offered for the covering
- 5:22Speaker 2: of sin. That sacrifice only needed to come one time,
- 5:28Speaker 2: and that payment was accepted for sin they believers followed.
- 5:34Speaker 2: There were some people, a few of them, that believed
- 5:38Speaker 2: God throughout history, and they knew he would keep his promise.
- 5:44Speaker 2: These were called prophets they did everything that they could
- 5:49Speaker 2: to be obedient and follow God's instruction. They became voices
- 5:55Speaker 2: or warning examples to the rest of mankind. They proclaimed
- 6:00Speaker 2: God's plan was perfect and that man had to come
- 6:04Speaker 2: back to a relationship with him. And many times God
- 6:09Speaker 2: must have just wanted to destroy all that he had
- 6:13Speaker 2: created and started all over again, but man reminded him
- 6:19Speaker 2: of his promise. Many men and women died, never realizing
- 6:24Speaker 2: the promise, but looking forward to the time when the
- 6:28Speaker 2: Savior would come. For these people died believing in God's promise.
- 6:36Speaker 2: We find that written in Hebrews chapter eleven and verse thirteen,
- 6:42Speaker 2: God finally fulfills his promise. Two thousand years ago. God
- 6:51Speaker 2: kept his promise to man. He brought forth a savior,
- 6:56Speaker 2: a child born to a virgin, a child who grew
- 7:00Speaker 2: true into a man and experienced every temptation that Satan
- 7:05Speaker 2: could place before him, yet without disobedience, without sin. This man,
- 7:11Speaker 2: called Jesus, was man as God wanted man to be
- 7:17Speaker 2: when he first created him. But he was also deity.
- 7:23Speaker 2: He was God. In fact, we call him the son
- 7:27Speaker 2: of God. He defeated the enemy. Jesus, the son of God,
- 7:33Speaker 2: knew his purpose on earth was to pay the price,
- 7:38Speaker 2: be the sacrifice for the sins of man, and he
- 7:42Speaker 2: did not live and die only to teach principles or
- 7:47Speaker 2: to just be an example of holy living. Of course,
- 7:51Speaker 2: he did encourage everyone to live holy lives, but his
- 7:55Speaker 2: purpose was what we defined as he stated in First John,
- 8:02Speaker 2: chapter three and verse eight. His purpose was to destroy
- 8:08Speaker 2: the works of the devil. He lived, died, and was
- 8:13Speaker 2: resurrected to pay the eternal price for man's sin, restore
- 8:19Speaker 2: him to fellowship with God, his heavenly father, and to
- 8:24Speaker 2: open the way for man to once again have dominion
- 8:29Speaker 2: over his creation. Friends, this is the winning side. Let
- 8:37Speaker 2: this fact really change your life. Jesus paid the price
- 8:42Speaker 2: for your sins and mind and defeated Satan over two
- 8:47Speaker 2: thousand years ago. If you believe this and you're willing
- 8:52Speaker 2: to accept God's promise his son Jesus, then you are
- 8:58Speaker 2: truly on the winning side of this battle. Do you
- 9:03Speaker 2: want to know what God's purpose is for your life,
- 9:07Speaker 2: then tell him so. That's right, Just tell him you
- 9:10Speaker 2: don't want to be a victim of sin anymore, and
- 9:13Speaker 2: that you want to live as he wants you to.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Ask Jesus to come into your heart. If you haven't
- 9:21Speaker 2: already made him lord of your life, do so. Now
- 9:26Speaker 2: ask him to forgive you of your disobedience and to
- 9:30Speaker 2: help you obey him from now on. Now trust him
- 9:36Speaker 2: to do just that and stay on the winning side. Now,
- 9:42Speaker 2: our mission in this warfare is to be his follower's
- 9:51Speaker 2: part that we play in God's eternal plan. Even though
- 9:56Speaker 2: nearly two thousand years have passed since God made his
- 10:01Speaker 2: promise good to man, most of his beloved creation is
- 10:07Speaker 2: unaware of this fact. Man is still constantly trying to
- 10:12Speaker 2: find the answers to the world's ills or the works
- 10:17Speaker 2: of the devil, but the enemy, Satan is still trying
- 10:21Speaker 2: to keep them from realizing the truth. And this is
- 10:26Speaker 2: the reason why we fight. This is the whole reason
- 10:33Speaker 2: for the Christian fight of faith. Let me explain it
- 10:37Speaker 2: using the following example. The United States entered into war
- 10:43Speaker 2: with Japan after the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor that
- 10:50Speaker 2: was on December seventh of nineteen forty one. And that
- 10:53Speaker 2: war was brought to a close with many many men, women,
- 11:00Speaker 2: and loss of life. But it was brought to a
- 11:03Speaker 2: close by the use of a terrible weapon called the
- 11:07Speaker 2: atom bomb, and it was used on two of the
- 11:11Speaker 2: Japanese cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, on August ninth of nineteen
- 11:18Speaker 2: forty five. You see, then the war was over and
- 11:21Speaker 2: the victor was the United States, but on many of
- 11:26Speaker 2: the remote islands there were Japanese soldiers who did not know.
- 11:32Speaker 2: They still thought the US was their enemy. Someone had
- 11:36Speaker 2: to find them and tell them that the war was
- 11:39Speaker 2: over and they did not have to fight the US anymore.
- 11:44Speaker 2: So in the same manner, many confused loss people don't
- 11:52Speaker 2: know that Satan has been beaten, and they continued to
- 11:57Speaker 2: be victims of his conflicts. Someone has to tell them,
- 12:02Speaker 2: someone has to show them, and that someone is you
- 12:06Speaker 2: and I. Jesus told his followers that they were to
- 12:11Speaker 2: go and preach the gospel, the good news that Satan
- 12:15Speaker 2: was defeated and man could now regain fellowship with God
- 12:19Speaker 2: through the blood of his son. And in Matthew twenty
- 12:23Speaker 2: eight and verses eighteen through twenty we find what is
- 12:29Speaker 2: referred to as the Great Commission. That all authority was
- 12:35Speaker 2: given in heaven and in earth to Jesus, and he
- 12:40Speaker 2: gave that authority to those who followed him, but for
- 12:44Speaker 2: the purpose of being able to take the good news
- 12:50Speaker 2: that Satan had been defeated and man could once again
- 12:54Speaker 2: have fellowship with a holy God that actually gave us
- 13:00Speaker 2: our marching orders so that we would become if you
- 13:06Speaker 2: will be army of God. So this is our purpose,
- 13:10Speaker 2: our mission in life. Many of those which are lost
- 13:14Speaker 2: have to be free from the bondage of Satan. Man
- 13:18Speaker 2: has been a victim far too long. So we Christians
- 13:23Speaker 2: followers of Jesus have to be ready, willing and able
- 13:29Speaker 2: to march forward against the enemy Satan and set the
- 13:34Speaker 2: captives free.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 13:40Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us, you've been listening to

- 14:00Speaker 1: otherwise express. The scriptures are read from the Homan Christian

- 14:10Speaker 1: Additional resources used for Reflections on the Word with Richard
- 14:13Speaker 1: k include Great is Thy Faithfulness, by our Daily breadth
- 14:17Speaker 1: and printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again here is Richard
- 14:21Speaker 1: to wrap up today's message.
- 14:25Speaker 2: You see, we are a force, an army of God.
- 14:29Speaker 2: He said that the gates of Hell could not stand
- 14:35Speaker 2: against his Church. So the war between Satan and Jesus
- 14:39Speaker 2: has already decided. Jesus won and Satan is condemned to
- 14:44Speaker 2: a place of torment, burning with fire. For eternity, mankind
- 14:51Speaker 2: needs to receive victory in Jesus, so we his followers
- 14:57Speaker 2: called Christians, must them the good news. This means we
- 15:05Speaker 2: have to fight to save the eternal lives of others.
- 15:10Speaker 2: We are not alone in this fight of faith. Jesus
- 15:13Speaker 2: himself leads us in claiming the victor's spoils the souls
- 15:20Speaker 2: of man, and we follow his command. Now, Folks, when
- 15:25Speaker 2: nations are countries, or people of the world go into combat,
- 15:30Speaker 2: the battle is with man or man's desires or ideas.
- 15:35Speaker 2: But when we go into spiritual combat, our fight is
- 15:40Speaker 2: not with mankind but for him. We battle the spiritual
- 15:46Speaker 2: forces which keep mankind from receiving and believing the truth.
- 15:53Speaker 2: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal of
- 15:57Speaker 2: man's nature, but mighty through God to the pulling down
- 16:01Speaker 2: of Satan's strongholds paraphrased from Second Corinthians, Chapter ten, verses
- 16:09Speaker 2: three through five. And that is today's reflection on the word.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
- 16:21Speaker 1: with the next edition of Reflections on the Work with
