Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM. Cubby and Christine, we are back together
- 0:03Speaker 1: along with producer Kristen. The new fall season has begun
- 0:08Speaker 1: here in August because I'm not going anywhere for a
- 0:10Speaker 1: long time. And so this is it. We're hunkering down
- 0:13Speaker 1: and getting ready for the September teachers to come back.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Yes, that's right.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Some teachers, I think, are already kind of getting back
- 0:20Speaker 1: in the saddle.
- 0:21Speaker 2: They are, yes. It's nice to hear our friends back.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Or there again. We've missed you over the summer.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Welcome back. Naomi starts first grade on Monday. So that's
- 0:31Speaker 1: coming up.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Wow. And so, yeah, I'm so thrown because Labor Day
- 0:35Speaker 2: is kind of late this year. So she's starting before
- 0:39Speaker 2: Labor Day.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Yeah. And they're listening right now again. So shout out
- 0:43Speaker 1: to Miles and Naomi and my wife. Again, I'm back
- 0:46Speaker 1: from two weeks away. And thank you so much for
- 0:49Speaker 1: the welcoming because you guys were awesome and It was
- 0:53Speaker 1: like the first day of school here because they're doing
- 0:55Speaker 1: construction in our lobby in the building. And I didn't
- 0:57Speaker 1: know where to go. You guys were dealing with it.
- 0:59Speaker 1: So you guided me in today.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:00Speaker 1: We caught up.
- 1:01Speaker 2: I know. No, it's great. I loved following your stories
- 1:05Speaker 2: because you were in places of the world that some
- 1:08Speaker 2: of us only can dream about seeing.
- 1:10Speaker 1: It was amazing. Thank you.
- 1:11Speaker 2: And it did look like a dream come true kind
- 1:12Speaker 2: of vacation. I mean, it looked incredible.
- 1:14Speaker 1: And I want to thank my wife because she was
- 1:16Speaker 1: the travel agent. And I could never book a trip
- 1:18Speaker 1: like this on my own. I wouldn't know what to do.
- 1:20Speaker 1: But again, to sum it all up, it's hard to
- 1:23Speaker 1: sum up this vacation in just a minute or two. Yeah.
- 1:25Speaker 1: But real quick, we went to Phuket, Thailand. That's where
- 1:29Speaker 1: we were the most. And I finally said it right.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I think before I went on vacation, I said Phuket.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Because it has a PH. Some of it you can't.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I was getting real close. It is Phuket.
- 1:40Speaker 1: We were there for like six, seven days. And then
- 1:43Speaker 1: I said six, seven. And then Bangkok for three days.
- 1:46Speaker 1: And then we spent a day in Tokyo. where we
- 1:49Speaker 1: got to see my wife's side of the family, which
- 1:52Speaker 1: we really haven't seen. That is so nice. Her aunt,
- 1:54Speaker 1: her cousin lived there, and the kids got to meet them,
- 1:58Speaker 1: and they were just so nice. That's incredible. My wife
- 2:00Speaker 1: speaks Japanese more than I do, but there was still
- 2:04Speaker 1: a little bit of a language barrier. So I had
- 2:06Speaker 1: to use the, I was using my Translate.
- 2:08Speaker 2: App to communicate with the family.
- 2:10Speaker 1: But they were just so awesome. And we went to
- 2:12Speaker 1: a couple of stores and they were like, no, we
- 2:13Speaker 1: want to buy Naomi and Miles this. Oh, how sweet.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Just so, so kind. And we had great weather, Christine.
- 2:19Speaker 1: You know, we were there during the rainy season. Thailand
- 2:21Speaker 1: is known for really rainy times, July, August, September. We
- 2:26Speaker 1: got a couple of showers here and there, but the
- 2:28Speaker 1: weather app made it look like it was going to
- 2:30Speaker 1: rain all day. 90% chance of rain every day. We
- 2:32Speaker 1: had some really beautiful days.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Oh, that's great.
- 2:35Speaker 1: And the people were just so nice. I mean, you
- 2:38Speaker 1: walk around and they do the bow and the real quick,
- 2:41Speaker 1: the prayer thing.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Hi, welcome and goodbye.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Oh, it was just so nice.
- 2:46Speaker 1: And I saw a capybara. That's the animal that I
- 2:50Speaker 1: didn't know who it was.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Right. And I messaged you and I'm like, what's that? Because,
- 2:53Speaker 2: you know, I love animals too. And I was fascinated.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Have you ever heard of a capybara, Kristen? Yes or no? Okay.
- 3:00Speaker 1: A lot of people have not heard of it. Of
- 3:02Speaker 1: a capybaras or a capybara.
- 3:04Speaker 2: But apparently, just FYI, they're making the rounds on Instagram.
- 3:09Speaker 2: They're becoming very popular, these guys.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Really?
- 3:11Speaker 2: People like watching them.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Yes. So this was in Thailand. We were in Bangkok.
- 3:16Speaker 1: And they were the world's largest rodent. It's basically a
- 3:19Speaker 1: giant mellow guinea pig. And they're native to South America.
- 3:22Speaker 1: But they live in Thailand. And they live near rivers
- 3:25Speaker 1: and ponds and marshes. And you've been to like a
- 3:29Speaker 1: cat cafe before. This was a Cappy Barris cafe.
- 3:33Speaker 2: That's amazing.
- 3:34Speaker 1: We got to feed them and the kids got to
- 3:36Speaker 1: have a smoothie and I had some coffee.
- 3:38Speaker 2: You had coffee with them. Wow.
- 3:39Speaker 1: And I'm sitting there chilling and they're hanging next to you.
- 3:41Speaker 1: You can pet them and they're super nice and they're patient.
- 3:44Speaker 2: That's so sweet.
- 3:45Speaker 1: But as I was petting it, I'm like, that's a
- 3:48Speaker 1: big rat really at the end of the day.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:50Speaker 1: But it's sweet.
- 3:51Speaker 2: But yeah. And maybe rats are for all we know.
- 3:53Speaker 2: We don't hang out with them in cafes. Yeah. How
- 3:55Speaker 2: was the coffee, by the way?
- 3:57Speaker 1: Oh, excellent. I thought of you.
- 3:58Speaker 2: I have to ask.
- 3:59Speaker 1: You and your coffee. Yeah. It was excellent. Very strong.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 4:04Speaker 1: Very strong coffee.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Like espresso or like that kind of?
- 4:07Speaker 1: Kind of. When I had one in the morning, I
- 4:10Speaker 1: would be good to go for the rest of the day.
- 4:12Speaker 2: You kept it going for 24 hours.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Anyway, so I've been talking out my ear here.
- 4:16Speaker 2: No, this is great. And just like a little aside. Um,
- 4:21Speaker 2: I just heard a study this morning. Did you hear
- 4:23Speaker 2: about this? Like the cities, the best cities in the
- 4:25Speaker 2: world for nightlife. Bangkok is number two on the list.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Really? Yeah. Okay.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I don't know if you guys, you know, you were with,
- 4:32Speaker 2: you were doing the family thing.
- 4:33Speaker 1: So I could feel the vibe of it for sure.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Obviously we were in bed with the kids like around
- 4:38Speaker 1: eight o'clock each.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Night and there's no kids, but yeah.
- 4:41Speaker 1: The thing I like about Bangkok and Singapore and also Phuket,
- 4:45Speaker 1: the sunrise and sunset is the same time every day
- 4:48Speaker 1: and it's all year round.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Oh.
- 4:50Speaker 1: It's 6.30 sunrise, 6.30 p.m. sunset.
- 4:54Speaker 2: All year round?
- 4:55Speaker 1: All year round. It fluctuates maybe a couple of minutes,
- 4:57Speaker 1: but it's very consistent there.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Wow.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Just because they're so close to the equator and all that.
- 5:01Speaker 2: This is really cool.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I got one more thing. I got gifts for you,
- 5:04Speaker 1: and I'll give them to you during the break.
- 5:06Speaker 2: That's so nice of you.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Small gifts. Nothing crazy. Got gifts for you. We'll do that.
- 5:10Speaker 1: We'll do two pretty cool things. Good morning, Miss Corinne.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I know you're listening. It's 106.7 Light FM.
- 5:16Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Okay.
- 5:22Speaker 2: I need to tell you two things.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Cubby and Christine's. Two pretty cool things. On one of
- 5:29Speaker 1: my flights on my vacation, I watched a documentary about
- 5:32Speaker 1: the moon landings.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 5:34Speaker 1: You ever wonder what the moon smells like? Well, guess what?
- 5:38Speaker 1: It's not cheese. The moon smells like gunpowder. Did you
- 5:42Speaker 1: know that?
- 5:43Speaker 2: Gunpowder.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Gunpowder. That's according to astronauts who walked on it. When
- 5:47Speaker 1: they came back into the lunar module and took off
- 5:50Speaker 1: their helmets, their suits gave off a smell similar to
- 5:53Speaker 1: spent gunpowder.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I was wondering because they couldn't go out there and sniff.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Right. They couldn't take their helmet off, right? And they
- 5:59Speaker 1: didn't know until they got.
- 6:00Speaker 2: It on them. What does it smell like out here? Uh-oh.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Not a good plan.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Right.
- 6:04Speaker 1: What is your cool thing, Christine Nagy?
- 6:06Speaker 2: This is super cool for our Harry Potter fans. Get
- 6:10Speaker 2: yourself to Broadway. Rupert Grint is stepping back into his
- 6:14Speaker 2: role as Ron Weasley on Broadway, Harry Potter and the
- 6:18Speaker 2: Cursed Child. He's coming back this winter, 17-week run. He's
- 6:23Speaker 2: starting on February 2nd. And this comes after Tom Felton
- 6:27Speaker 2: has joined the show since last November. He's playing Draco Malfoy.
- 6:32Speaker 2: And you can see him until the end of January.
- 6:34Speaker 2: So you can go now and see him. You can
- 6:39Speaker 2: get your tickets and see Reaper Grint, Ezra and Weasley.
- 6:43Speaker 2: And it's just a great show. Harry Potter and the
- 6:44Speaker 2: Cursed Child on Broadway. Definitely get there.
- 6:46Speaker 1: That is pretty cool.
- 6:48Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen. We're back together on this Thursday morning.
- 6:56Speaker 1: So I'm flying back. It's Tuesday. I'm on the plane.
- 7:00Speaker 1: The only thing I have is messaging. I can get
- 7:02Speaker 1: text messages, but I couldn't post on the Internet or anything.
- 7:05Speaker 1: And the news came out about Dolly Parton. I heard
- 7:07Speaker 1: about it on the flight from Japan to Newark.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I know. We were reaching out to you, Producer Kristen
- 7:14Speaker 2: and I. We always do a group chat.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:16Speaker 2: We didn't know we could reach you, but we did.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Right.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Unfortunately, with sad news, right?
- 7:21Speaker 1: Yeah. And the sad news kept coming yesterday.
- 7:23Speaker 2: I know. Tim Curry.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 7:25Speaker 2: I know.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Which it really hit, I mean, look, it hit a
- 7:28Speaker 1: lot of us. Yeah. But producer Kristen might have been
- 7:31Speaker 1: his number one fan.
- 7:32Speaker 2: For so many people.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:33Speaker 2: I mean, you know, starting with the Rocky Horror Picture Show,
- 7:36Speaker 2: of course.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Right.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Which is just iconic.
- 7:38Speaker 1: And I heard Kristen even told me he was a
- 7:40Speaker 1: super nice guy.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I mean, just a really cool guy.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, she's met him several times. We'll speak for Kristen,
- 7:46Speaker 2: who's right here. Right. And said that even though, you know,
- 7:51Speaker 2: he's been through a lot with his health, He had
- 7:54Speaker 2: a stroke in 2012. He was in a wheelchair. She
- 7:57Speaker 2: said he's still so gracious and kind. And he was working.
- 8:01Speaker 2: He was doing voiceover work. He's in a film that
- 8:04Speaker 2: Kristen knows about that we'll share with you when we can,
- 8:08Speaker 2: when we have more details. But Cubby, also another person
- 8:12Speaker 2: has passed. And we have to go back a little
- 8:14Speaker 2: bit further, I think, for some of us. Do you
- 8:17Speaker 2: remember The Gong Show?
- 8:18Speaker 1: Oh, yes. You do?
- 8:19Speaker 2: You do?
- 8:20Speaker 1: Chuck Berris was your host.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a big show in the 70s and
- 8:23Speaker 2: into the 80s, I think.
- 8:24Speaker 1: It was kind of like America's Got Talent for the 70s.
- 8:28Speaker 2: You're right.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Because they had to perform.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Come out, do your thing.
- 8:31Speaker 1: If you got the gong, you're done.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Yeah, so there's three celebrities sitting there that you have
- 8:36Speaker 2: to impress. And if one of them gongs you, then bye-bye. Well, J.P. Morgan,
- 8:41Speaker 2: who was one of the celebs on the gong show,
- 8:44Speaker 2: I think maybe middle chair, I'm trying to remember. She
- 8:47Speaker 2: has passed away at the age of 94. Oh, yeah.
- 8:50Speaker 1: I totally remember her. I'm looking at her right now.
- 8:52Speaker 3: You do?
- 8:52Speaker 2: Yes.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Yeah, because I used to think her name was J.P.,
- 8:57Speaker 1: but it's J-A-Y-E-P.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Yes.
- 8:59Speaker 1: So if you say it, you think the letter J.P.,
- 9:01Speaker 1: and that's it.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Yeah, like J.P.
- 9:02Speaker 1: But it was J-A-Y-E-P Morgan. And you're right. If you
- 9:06Speaker 1: Google her right now, she was on a bulk of
- 9:09Speaker 1: the time that the gong show was on the air.
- 9:11Speaker 2: She was a big part of it. Reading her career
- 9:13Speaker 2: began in 1953 with the hit song, Life is Just
- 9:16Speaker 2: a Bowl of Cherries.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Yeah. If you remember the gong show, hit us up
- 9:20Speaker 1: at 44363. That was definitely a great show.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Yeah, so sorry. Like, entertainment world, you know, these are
- 9:27Speaker 2: beloved celebrities that we've lost. Artists and good people.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I believe last week, yeah, Frank Beard from ZZ Top
- 9:34Speaker 1: recently passed away.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Yes, the drummer.
- 9:35Speaker 1: So, again, not trying to be a downer here.
- 9:37Speaker 2: No, I know.
- 9:38Speaker 1: It is news.
- 9:39Speaker 2: There's just been a lot. It feels like there's been
- 9:42Speaker 2: a lot.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:42Speaker 1: All right. And by the way, again, I want to
- 9:44Speaker 1: mention the text because we haven't really talked to anybody
- 9:46Speaker 1: in a while. Or maybe you have when I was
- 9:48Speaker 1: on vacation. But I want to know what's going on
- 9:50Speaker 1: in the world. Are our teachers back? What's the deal? 44363.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Hit us up on text. Would love to know if
- 9:58Speaker 1: you're back in your routine.
- 10:00Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 10:05Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM. Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen, all back together.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I did Thailand and Japan. Kristen was in Orlando. And you,
- 10:14Speaker 1: my friend. Yeah. You were in Salem, Massachusetts. A little
- 10:17Speaker 1: road trip.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:18Speaker 1: A creepy road trip at that.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Right.
- 10:21Speaker 1: What the heck did you do?
- 10:23Speaker 2: We had a really great time. We stayed at an
- 10:25Speaker 2: old inn. It's Daniel's House Inn, which is the oldest
- 10:28Speaker 2: inn in Salem, like from the 1600s. And we stayed
- 10:32Speaker 2: in the captain's bedroom.
- 10:33Speaker 1: How cool.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Yeah. It kind of like leans to one side and
- 10:36Speaker 2: there's some soft spots on the floor.
- 10:39Speaker 1: It's amazing.
- 10:40Speaker 2: It was like the coolest experience.
- 10:41Speaker 1: It leans to one side.
- 10:43Speaker 2: That's how it felt.
- 10:43Speaker 1: It's so old. It's from the 1600s. There's a little settling.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:48Speaker 2: It's beautiful, like highly recommended. I know I'm exaggerating just
- 10:51Speaker 2: to make it more fun. But do you remember before
- 10:53Speaker 2: we left, there was a whole thing that I wanted
- 10:55Speaker 2: to do a ghost tour and.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Oh, and you had to wear equipment.
- 10:59Speaker 2: I wanted the equipment.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:01Speaker 2: And Eric was like, no, he wanted the history tour.
- 11:04Speaker 2: We got there and Eric said, we'd be too tired.
- 11:06Speaker 2: You're not going to want to do a tour tonight.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Nope.
- 11:09Speaker 2: We powered through. We did both. So we did the
- 11:11Speaker 2: ghost tour the night we got there. And then like
- 11:14Speaker 2: the history ghost tour the next night. So I got my,
- 11:17Speaker 2: you know, Ghostbusters garb. This guy, Justin, with its Wicked
- 11:23Speaker 2: Ghost Tours. I want to get it correctly because he's
- 11:26Speaker 2: really good and it was a lot of fun and
- 11:27Speaker 2: he's got a YouTube channel. He's like a ghost hunter
- 11:29Speaker 2: kind of guy. He's the one who led the tour
- 11:32Speaker 2: and we had the RMF meters.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Yeah. What were you doing? Just looking for vibes?
- 11:36Speaker 2: Yeah. Like wherever, if there's activity, the Hawthorne Hotel, like
- 11:41Speaker 2: where I wanted to stay. There's a but it was booked.
- 11:43Speaker 2: There's a lot of activity there. And you would see
- 11:45Speaker 2: your meter would go crazy. I've got some videos with
- 11:48Speaker 2: my meter, my meter going crazy.
- 11:50Speaker 1: And they told you could point it anywhere.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Well, he would he would stop, you know, because he's
- 11:55Speaker 2: telling us there's the there's always a woman in white.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Isn't there like every haunted woman in white? There's a
- 12:02Speaker 2: cat ghost at the Salem Inn. So there's all types
- 12:05Speaker 2: of ghosts and different stories. And then we would stand
- 12:08Speaker 2: in our meters would start going off like, yes, something's
- 12:11Speaker 2: going on here. But Justin pointed out, and this is
- 12:14Speaker 2: the card he gave me so I wouldn't forget, that
- 12:16Speaker 2: our timing was just a little off because we just
- 12:20Speaker 2: missed Annabelle.
- 12:22Speaker 1: No, your timing was perfect that you missed it. Are
- 12:25Speaker 1: you kidding me?
- 12:25Speaker 2: Eric and I were both like, it's okay.
- 12:27Speaker 1: It's okay.
- 12:28Speaker 2: So there's the Haunted Warren Museum now in Salem. And
- 12:31Speaker 2: I think it's like just a limited time that they're
- 12:34Speaker 2: in there. It's like a pop-up. Do you remember we
- 12:36Speaker 2: talked about this in the news last year?
- 12:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Annabelle is the doll that The Conjuring is based on.
- 12:44Speaker 2: So they have a Conjuring doll in the window. That's
- 12:45Speaker 2: creepy enough. But Annabelle's really a Raggedy Ann doll.
- 12:48Speaker 1: And didn't the guy.
- 12:50Speaker 2: The guy who was handling her because they were told
- 12:52Speaker 2: the Warrens were the people who were exercising spirits and
- 12:55Speaker 2: that sort of thing. And they had passed and they
- 12:58Speaker 2: left instructions. Don't take Annabelle out of the box. Don't
- 13:00Speaker 2: move Annabelle. These guys bought her or leased her because
- 13:04Speaker 2: you can't buy her. And started doing a tour. And
- 13:08Speaker 2: they were in a couple of towns. They were in
- 13:09Speaker 2: New Jersey and the power grid went out. I remember this, yeah.
- 13:11Speaker 2: In another town there was a fire. And then they
- 13:13Speaker 2: were in Pennsylvania and this poor guy died.
- 13:16Speaker 1: That was handling Annabelle.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Justin said he handled her too long. So now she's
- 13:20Speaker 2: traveling again, but they put her like, they put a
- 13:22Speaker 2: black drape over her in a box. And the guys
- 13:25Speaker 2: are like really careful not to touch her. And she's
- 13:27Speaker 2: spending some time in Salem. Just FYI, in case that's
- 13:30Speaker 2: your thing. Eric and I were both like, nope, we're good.
- 13:32Speaker 2: We don't. Mm-mm-mm. I mean, you don't have to prove
- 13:35Speaker 2: anything to me. We don't need to go in there.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I like scary things, but for some reason, this is
- 13:40Speaker 1: like my cutoff. Yeah. I, I really believe in the
- 13:43Speaker 1: energy it's putting out.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Yeah. Whatever.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I don't want to be near it.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Whatever it is. And like I said, you don't have
- 13:47Speaker 2: to prove it to me. It's okay. I'll yeah. If
- 13:50Speaker 2: it's negative, it's not for us, but there are like
- 13:54Speaker 2: a series of tours. If you want to go and
- 13:56Speaker 2: there's tiers to the tours. And one of like the
- 14:00Speaker 2: highest tiers is you go in there because there's a
- 14:02Speaker 2: bunch of Haunted, possessed objects, apparently.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Well, the tears will be coming from my cheek. Exactly.
- 14:09Speaker 1: I thought you were talking about T-I-E-R.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Yeah. You go in for an immersive option, right, with
- 14:14Speaker 2: flashlights only. You've got your ghost tour guide. And your
- 14:18Speaker 2: takeaway is you get an Annabelle doll. So they ordered
- 14:22Speaker 2: a whole bunch of, like, antique Annabelles off of eBay.
- 14:25Speaker 2: They're lighting these Raggedy Ann dolls. hang out with the
- 14:29Speaker 2: Annabelle doll for like 30 days.
- 14:31Speaker 1: I'm doing like a cross-eye right now.
- 14:33Speaker 2: So it picks up the vibes of the haunting museum
- 14:37Speaker 2: and the real Annabelle, and you get to take her home.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I'm good.
- 14:40Speaker 2: I'm like, no. Once again, no.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Right.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 14:43Speaker 1: But just in time for Halloween, pumpkin spice and Annabelle.
- 14:46Speaker 2: If you love it.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Yeah. All right. That sounds amazing. What do you have
- 14:51Speaker 1: coming up in the news?
- 14:52Speaker 2: After all of that, Cubby, maybe you want to say
- 14:54Speaker 2: this to me. If you have a coworker who talks
- 14:56Speaker 2: too much, how to shut them down.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Hey, we do a radio show. You're allowed to talk.
- 15:02Speaker 1: But we'll talk about that coming up next.
- 15:03Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Good morning, Cubby. Yes, and we do have to be
- 15:10Speaker 2: careful today because of the weather. Forecasters, like our Cubby,
- 15:14Speaker 2: are telling us periods of rain and thunderstorms. Flood watch
- 15:17Speaker 2: for this afternoon and this evening. So please just be
- 15:20Speaker 2: aware of that. The search is on for survivors after
- 15:23Speaker 2: a deadly flash flooding near the Nepal-Tibet border. They already
- 15:27Speaker 2: say at least 165 people have been recovered. Their bodies
- 15:31Speaker 2: have been recovered. Hundreds are still missing, including dozens of Americans.
- 15:35Speaker 2: And it's just terribly heartbreaking to watch the footage. Actor
- 15:38Speaker 2: Tim Curry has passed away at the age of 80.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Best known for his role as Dr. Frankenfutter in the
- 15:44Speaker 2: Rocky Horror Picture Show. But such a huge, wonderful career
- 15:49Speaker 2: and a creative person. The FDA has approved a new
- 15:52Speaker 2: daily pill for advanced pancreatic cancer that showed patients lived
- 15:57Speaker 2: nearly twice as long as those receiving chemotherapy in a
- 16:00Speaker 2: late-stage trial. So they are getting that out to patients
- 16:04Speaker 2: very soon. In sports baseball, the Mets lost to the
- 16:07Speaker 2: Brewers 8-1. Yankees beat the Astros 9-3. And if you've
- 16:11Speaker 2: got a colleague that talks a little bit too much
- 16:13Speaker 2: and it's just getting out of hand and maybe they
- 16:15Speaker 2: get too personal, it could be very distracting how to
- 16:19Speaker 2: handle it. Recruit a buddy. Ask a coworker to be
- 16:23Speaker 2: your go-between, the person who comes to rescue you. When
- 16:26Speaker 2: that person is doing a lot of talking, this person
- 16:29Speaker 2: can say something as simple as, hey, I need you
- 16:31Speaker 2: right now. And there you're able to duck out.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Don't you know Kristen's been doing that a lot more lately?
- 16:37Speaker 2: With us?
- 16:39Speaker 1: Maybe she's doing it to divert me. She can't talk,
- 16:43Speaker 1: but she can divert the conversation.
- 16:44Speaker 2: That's right.
- 16:45Speaker 1: All right, Christine. Your weather today, a mix of sun
- 16:48Speaker 1: and clouds and some thunderstorms are going to pop up.
- 16:51Speaker 1: We already have some showers in the area, and it
- 16:53Speaker 1: could get kind of crazy later. Okay. A flood watch
- 16:56Speaker 1: in effect and a high of 81.
- 16:58Speaker 3: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Stop wasting money on these particular things. We have some
- 17:08Speaker 1: valuable guidance here.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Yes. You know, according to the experts, and I feel
- 17:12Speaker 2: like guilty as charged with all of these, where they
- 17:14Speaker 2: tell us that we are just throwing money away. These
- 17:17Speaker 2: are unnecessary purchases. Are we ready? First of all, our phones.
- 17:22Speaker 1: We need our phones, though.
- 17:23Speaker 2: We need our phones, but you don't need the latest
- 17:26Speaker 2: phone every time. Slight upgrades in a camera, some other
- 17:30Speaker 2: tech might sound great, but are they really worth spending
- 17:33Speaker 2: over $ 1, 000 for? If your phone still works, you keep
- 17:35Speaker 2: using it.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I will say I used to be the guy that
- 17:38Speaker 1: needed that new iPhone every year. And thanks to my
- 17:40Speaker 1: wife and me taking a deep breath, I can now
- 17:45Speaker 1: skip two years. Yeah. And I realize it doesn't change
- 17:48Speaker 1: that much.
- 17:48Speaker 2: No, it doesn't. And it's also more convenient because every
- 17:51Speaker 2: time you get a new one, you get to sign
- 17:52Speaker 2: into everything again.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Right. Okay.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Cars. I know this is hard. If your car is
- 17:58Speaker 2: running just fine and it's paid off, enjoy it. The
- 18:02Speaker 2: financial experts are saying just drive it into the ground.
- 18:05Speaker 1: That's exactly what my wife said to do with my
- 18:07Speaker 1: current car. Really? I'm kind of getting bored with it. Yeah.
- 18:10Speaker 1: And I've had it for five years, which is long
- 18:11Speaker 1: for me. Yeah. And she's like, no, baby.
- 18:14Speaker 2: It's paid off.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Use that term. You're driving that into the ground. Yeah. Yeah,
- 18:18Speaker 1: you know what? You're right. Yeah. If it gets you
- 18:19Speaker 1: from point A to point B, that's all you need.
- 18:21Speaker 2: I know. They say it's just another way to incur debt.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Okay. Oh, boy.
- 18:25Speaker 2: This one scares me. Housing. Wow. Because we took the
- 18:28Speaker 2: leap and we got a bigger house. And they said, nope.
- 18:31Speaker 2: If you have a growing family, so you kids, Cubby, Kristen,
- 18:35Speaker 2: you're excused. You've got little ones. Then it's one thing
- 18:39Speaker 2: to get a bigger home. Otherwise, you're just going into
- 18:42Speaker 2: deeper debt because you have a lot of stuff and
- 18:43Speaker 2: you need places for it.
- 18:45Speaker 1: It's like the old George Carlin stand-up routine he did.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I live it.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Yeah. You get more stuff, you get a bigger house.
- 18:50Speaker 2: You need a house for more stuff. You get more stuff.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Coffee maker. No, say it ain't so.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Wait, they're saying that that's a sign of wasting money? Yeah.
- 18:58Speaker 1: A coffee maker?
- 18:59Speaker 2: Simple ones get the job done. You don't need a
- 19:01Speaker 2: big fancy one. Wow. Well, excuse me.
- 19:04Speaker 1: I believe we're excused. Because we get up in the morning.
- 19:07Speaker 1: We need the best caffeine we can get.
- 19:09Speaker 2: That's all that matters.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I need a good machine.
- 19:10Speaker 2: I mean, you've got to have little joys in life.
- 19:13Speaker 2: How about the TV?
- 19:15Speaker 1: Are we wasting our money on TV?
- 19:16Speaker 2: Because they keep changing. They keep changing.
- 19:19Speaker 1: It's kind of like the iPhone or any kind of phone.
- 19:20Speaker 1: You want the latest and greatest.
- 19:22Speaker 2: The latest. But they said that it's not an extreme
- 19:24Speaker 2: change anymore. Stick with what you have. I definitely agree
- 19:27Speaker 2: with this one if you can do it. Cheap furniture.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Because I've noticed the difference. We've done both. We've gotten expensive.
- 19:34Speaker 2: We've gotten cheaper because we've had to. The cheap furniture
- 19:36Speaker 2: just doesn't last.
- 19:37Speaker 1: So it's better to spend a little bit more money
- 19:39Speaker 1: and not have to worry about it for many years. Right.
- 19:41Speaker 2: And you don't have to replace it. Sneakers.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Okay.
- 19:44Speaker 2: A lot of people are into getting new, cool sneakers.
- 19:48Speaker 2: They're like, nope, just get a couple quality pairs and
- 19:50Speaker 2: run them into the ground like your car. And finally, computers.
- 19:54Speaker 2: RAM shortages are making things incredibly expensive in tech. If
- 19:59Speaker 2: it's getting the job done for you, you don't need
- 20:02Speaker 2: a new one.
- 20:03Speaker 1: See, I feel like my wife needs a new laptop,
- 20:06Speaker 1: and she says she thinks she does, but she's not sure.
- 20:09Speaker 1: but she can barely get on a website. Her computer
- 20:11Speaker 1: is so old.
- 20:12Speaker 2: I think she needs it.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I'm like, just get a new computer. But like, I
- 20:16Speaker 1: think the date is like stuck on the same, like
- 20:18Speaker 1: a date from like six months ago on her computer.
- 20:20Speaker 1: I'm like, that's a sign you need a new computer. You've,
- 20:23Speaker 1: driven that to the ground.
- 20:24Speaker 2: You do everything you can to update it and get
- 20:27Speaker 2: new storage in there and then it can only go
- 20:29Speaker 2: so far. I know I'm at the same point. I
- 20:31Speaker 2: need one too.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Well, again, you're a thousand bucks. You can win right
- 20:33Speaker 1: here on Light FM after nine.
- 20:35Speaker 3: More Covey and Christine and the great music variety you
- 20:37Speaker 3: expect next on Light FM.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Well, Christine, about 10 minutes ago, we did a story
- 20:43Speaker 1: about stop wasting money on these things.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:46Speaker 1: And phones was in there.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Yes.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Try to avoid the upgrade.
- 20:49Speaker 2: You don't need to.
- 20:50Speaker 1: You don't need to.
- 20:50Speaker 2: If your phone's working, just Yeah, hang with it.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Hey, Apple announces September 9th launch event. How about this?
- 20:57Speaker 1: Tie in. Yeah. If you're the kind who geeks out
- 21:00Speaker 1: over new or updated Apple tech, the company will host
- 21:02Speaker 1: a launch event September 9th. The event is titled Surprise
- 21:06Speaker 1: and Shine. The spotlight will likely be on a rumored
- 21:10Speaker 1: foldable iPhone. And Apple is expected to refresh its Pro
- 21:15Speaker 1: and Pro Max iPhone models.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Now, what did we just learn?
- 21:18Speaker 1: We just learned don't cave in and do it. But
- 21:21Speaker 1: if you're kind of a tech geek like me.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I see you getting excited over there.
- 21:25Speaker 1: And I probably won't do it this year. I got
- 21:26Speaker 1: a new phone last year. But the foldable thing, I
- 21:30Speaker 1: kind of want to see. I've seen them before from
- 21:32Speaker 1: other brands. I want to see how Apple does it.
- 21:35Speaker 2: They're bigger, though. Like, do you want a bigger phone?
- 21:38Speaker 2: You know?
- 21:39Speaker 1: No, yeah. I do have the biggest, though, so maybe
- 21:41Speaker 1: I'm a hypocrite by saying that.
- 21:42Speaker 2: Oh, you're used to it.
- 21:43Speaker 1: But, like, I'm not going to carry an iPad around.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not that big. But just as far as,
- 21:47Speaker 2: I mean, like, the prototypes I've seen are, like, looks
- 21:50Speaker 2: like it would be bigger. Right. And, like you said,
- 21:52Speaker 2: the new computers, that's another thing we learned. We don't
- 21:54Speaker 2: need the new computers.
- 21:55Speaker 1: I know. Unless it's really, like, on death's door.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Yeah, which is, like, your wife's.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Yeah, my wife.
- 22:02Speaker 2: She can get a new one.
- 22:02Speaker 1: She's a trooper. She's hanging on to this one that
- 22:04Speaker 1: has the date. I think it says 2008 on it.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:08Speaker 1: As long as I can get on the website, we're good.
- 22:09Speaker 2: All right.
- 22:10Speaker 1: I haven't done this in a while. We're going to
- 22:13Speaker 1: open the phones. Yes. 1-800-222-1067. We're going to have a
- 22:17Speaker 1: trivia battle. And what are we playing for, Christine?
- 22:19Speaker 2: We have got a four pack of tickets to see
- 22:21Speaker 2: Ed Sheeran on his loop tour. You can choose either Friday,
- 22:24Speaker 2: September 4th or Saturday, September 5th at MetLife Stadium. Tickets
- 22:28Speaker 2: available now at Ticketmaster.com or Cubby. You can give us
- 22:32Speaker 2: a call.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Yes, and we will play. Two people are going to
- 22:34Speaker 1: go at it. Only one will win.
- 22:36Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 22:42Speaker 1: You pretty good at trivia?
- 22:43Speaker 2: Light FM's Trivia Battle.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Here we go. Thursday, it's time for a trivia battle.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I'm happy to be back. It's been a long time.
- 22:51Speaker 1: I might be rusty, Christine. Wish me luck.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Okay, good luck, Cubby.
- 22:55Speaker 1: On Team Cubby. Tom from Hazlet is on the phone.
- 22:59Speaker 1: I got the introductions out of the way. All right,
- 23:01Speaker 1: we did it. Tom, good morning. What are you doing
- 23:03Speaker 1: up so early? Good morning. I'm just driving to work.
- 23:05Speaker 1: What do you do? I work in finance. Well, Tom,
- 23:08Speaker 1: best of luck to you. Bring home a victory to
- 23:11Speaker 1: Team Cubby today. I heard the competition, though, is fierce.
- 23:14Speaker 1: It is.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Good morning, Susan. How are you?
- 23:16Speaker 1: Good morning, Christine. I'm doing well, thank you.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Susan is from Staten Island, and Cubby, she played yesterday
- 23:23Speaker 2: and did not win.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Oh, she's mad?
- 23:25Speaker 2: Well, you know... You know, Tom, look out.
- 23:28Speaker 1: She's spitting fire. Yeah. I might be in trouble. Exactly.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Good luck, Tom.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Good luck to you, too. Well, you guys are kind. Tom,
- 23:36Speaker 1: you're going to get three questions. Susan, you'll get three questions.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Best out of three wins our trivia battle. Hey, Tom,
- 23:42Speaker 1: Major League Baseball, Milwaukee, that team, I tell you, they're
- 23:45Speaker 1: doing great. One of the best records in baseball. What
- 23:48Speaker 1: is that team in Milwaukee? Is it A, the Pirates, B,
- 23:51Speaker 1: the Royals, or C, Brewers? Brewers. That would be correct.
- 23:56Speaker 1: And Tom is up 1-0.
- 23:58Speaker 2: All right. Susan, here we go. Which of these actresses
- 24:01Speaker 2: is pregnant right now? A, Anne Hathaway. B, Anna Paquin. C,
- 24:06Speaker 2: Natalie Portman. I think I'll go with C, Natalie. No,
- 24:12Speaker 2: I'm sorry. It's Anne Hathaway.
- 24:14Speaker 1: All right. We're early in the game. Tom, which character
- 24:16Speaker 1: did Chris Pine play in the 2009 Star Trek reboot? A,
- 24:22Speaker 1: Captain Kirk. No. B, Mr. Spock or C, Scotty? I
- 24:28Speaker 1: think he played Kirk. And I think you're up to nothing.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Susan, we need this one. Kyle Schwarber became the first
- 24:37Speaker 2: Major League Baseball player to reach 40 home runs in 2026.
- 24:41Speaker 2: What team does he play for? A, New York Yankees. B,
- 24:46Speaker 2: Philadelphia Phillies. C, Boston Red Sox. I'm not good on baseball,
- 24:53Speaker 2: but I'm going to go with C. C, Boston Red Sox. No,
- 24:58Speaker 2: I'm sorry. He plays for the Philadelphia Phillies. And I
- 25:02Speaker 2: think that's it. We'll talk to you tomorrow, Susan. Susan,
- 25:06Speaker 2: we need you to win at least two to stay
- 25:08Speaker 2: in it, and we can't at this point. So that
- 25:11Speaker 2: makes Tom our winner. Susan, just call us back tomorrow.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, we're going to have you on until
- 25:15Speaker 1: you win.
- 25:16Speaker 2: You've got our number. Okay.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Tom, congrats.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Congratulations, Tom.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Thank you guys so much.
- 25:21Speaker 2: You're welcome. You're going to see Ed Sheeran, his loop tour.
- 25:24Speaker 2: You can choose the date, Friday, September 4th or Saturday,
- 25:27Speaker 2: September 5th, MetLife Stadium. You've got yourself a four pack.
- 25:31Speaker 1: That's great. Thank you guys so much.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 25:33Speaker 1: I picture Susan right now. She's off the phone, kicking
- 25:35Speaker 1: the trash can, like throwing stuff around the kitchen. Oh,
- 25:40Speaker 1: you hear that? That was Susan hitting something. Oh, my gosh.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Susan, it's okay. You can play again.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Yes, everything's fine.
- 25:45Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Good to be back. It's Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen. And
- 25:54Speaker 1: we have a lot to chat about. We're going to
- 25:56Speaker 1: give something away here in just a second. But we'll
- 25:59Speaker 1: kick things off talking about Harry Styles. Night number one
- 26:02Speaker 1: of 30 last night at the Garden.
- 26:04Speaker 2: I know. So cool, right? His residency began last night.
- 26:08Speaker 2: His Together Together tour. And he did pay tribute to
- 26:13Speaker 2: Dolly Parton.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Classy. Yes.
- 26:16Speaker 2: He said, I want to give a proper thank you
- 26:17Speaker 2: to all the musicians who have inspired me over the years. Dolly,
- 26:20Speaker 2: we love you. Thank you so much. And then he
- 26:22Speaker 2: did a snippet of I Will Always Love You.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I love that.
- 26:25Speaker 2: I do, too. And then I saw this on Instagram, Cubby,
- 26:27Speaker 2: and I seriously question everything now. Like, is that real
- 26:30Speaker 2: or is that AI? But it was Harry Styles walking
- 26:33Speaker 2: from Brooklyn to Madison Square Garden, like walking across the
- 26:36Speaker 2: bridge to the garden.
- 26:37Speaker 3: I mean.
- 26:38Speaker 2: For real?
- 26:39Speaker 1: He loves New York City.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:41Speaker 1: And it was a nice day yesterday.
- 26:42Speaker 2: He could.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Possibly.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Maybe it's like his warm up to go up on stage.
- 26:47Speaker 2: They said he was walking to soundcheck.
- 26:49Speaker 1: I mean, you're right. A car service would be easy.
- 26:51Speaker 2: He could do it.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Yeah. Obtainable.
- 26:53Speaker 2: I think he could afford it.
- 26:54Speaker 1: But he loves the city. I don't know. I hope
- 26:56Speaker 1: that's true.
- 26:57Speaker 2: This is his only stop like in the U.S. on
- 27:00Speaker 2: this tour, too. So, yeah, he really does. He loves
- 27:02Speaker 2: New York.
- 27:03Speaker 1: You come to me.
- 27:03Speaker 2: And I would. Get in there. Trust me. And then Broadway.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Broadway.
