Latest / Early Edition with Ryan Bridge / Andrew Dickens: Is Luxon in trouble?
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Cam Satter say what you like about him. He can
- 0:02Speaker 1: certainly write. His head is ups and downs. He's paid
- 0:04Speaker 1: for some bad behavior, but he has good flow in
- 0:06Speaker 1: his writing. He always had a good contact book. But
- 0:08Speaker 1: whether those contacts still talk to him as anybody's guess.
- 0:11Speaker 1: But anyway, he's now renamed Whale Oil to a website
- 0:15Speaker 1: called good Oil, and yesterday he wrote a think piece
- 0:18Speaker 1: called the coming National Coup. He reckons Christopher Luckson's continued
- 0:23Speaker 1: bad numbers means the National Party is now seriously talking
- 0:26Speaker 1: about replacing him as leader. Even cams and on game
- 0:29Speaker 1: these days, he claims sources inside caucus say that Luxon
- 0:33Speaker 1: has three months to turn around his numbers. He claims
- 0:36Speaker 1: that women don't like Luxon, people who believe in anything
- 0:40Speaker 1: don't like Christopher because nobody knows what he believes. Kam
- 0:43Speaker 1: Satter says his coalition partners know what they believe, and
- 0:46Speaker 1: he says the free marketeers can go with Act, the
- 0:48Speaker 1: Nationalists can go with New Zealand first, so who's going
- 0:50Speaker 1: to go with Christopher? He says the opposition can smell blood,
- 0:54Speaker 1: and then he lumps the media into the opposition camp,
- 0:56Speaker 1: even though of course he is acting like an opposition
- 0:58Speaker 1: right now with this opinion, but slowly Christopher Luxon seems
- 1:02Speaker 1: to be losing the support of the center right according
- 1:04Speaker 1: to cam Slater, not that he had much in the
- 1:06Speaker 1: first place. To be fair, he was never given a
- 1:08Speaker 1: honeymoon period. I think the electric could see that he
- 1:12Speaker 1: had a very performative nature in his politics. But these
- 1:16Speaker 1: are easy editorials to write, and everyone can point out
- 1:20Speaker 1: the flaws and the problems with anything. Only the truly
- 1:24Speaker 1: talented can provide a solution. So if the problem as
- 1:28Speaker 1: Christopher Luxen, what is the answer? Is it Willis? Is
- 1:33Speaker 1: it Bishop? Is it Stamford or is it Simeon? There
- 1:36Speaker 1: the next four on the list. You want to go deeper?
- 1:39Speaker 1: Would Mitchell, Goldsmith or Collins be any better than Christopher Luxon?
- 1:45Speaker 1: Fkam is correct and a coup is coming inside the
- 1:48Speaker 1: next three months? Could that be National shooting itself in
- 1:52Speaker 1: the foot? Well, of course it is. Did they learn
- 1:55Speaker 1: nothing from all the long years in opposition where they
- 1:58Speaker 1: chopped and changed their leader without going forward in any way,
- 2:01Speaker 1: shape or form. For more from early edition with Ryan Bridge,
