Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: This is media podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:12Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer new Arthan. Today
- 0:16Speaker 2: we're joined by Jannis, Brody, Randall, Seth, Marge Logan and Nate.
- 0:21Speaker 2: This is a ten round quiz show with questions from
- 0:23Speaker 2: meat Eater's four verticals, which are hunting, fish and conservation
- 0:26Speaker 2: and cooking, and there's a prize. Meat Eater will donate
- 0:29Speaker 2: five hundred dollars to the Conservation organization of the winners,
- 0:32Speaker 2: choosing for the stat of the week. This week we're
- 0:34Speaker 2: looking at win percentage. Brody is our winningest player in
- 0:38Speaker 2: Meat Eater Trivia history and his victorious thirty nine percent
- 0:42Speaker 2: of games that he plays. Damn that's a lot. That's
- 0:45Speaker 2: followed by Clay at thirty six percent, Steve at thirty five,
- 0:49Speaker 2: Randal at thirty four, and Giannis at twenty two. So
- 0:52Speaker 2: Brody's played the most games, he's won the most games
- 0:55Speaker 2: please don't count, and has the highest win percentage.
- 0:59Speaker 3: There's no debate.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Brody's the med Eater Trivia goat.
- 1:02Speaker 1: He is he is.
- 1:04Speaker 2: We have our fourth ever Meat Eater Trivia tournament, though
- 1:08Speaker 2: that sometime the next six months will take place. We
- 1:11Speaker 2: have one victory for Steve, one for Brody, one for Randall.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Maybe that will be the one that settles who the
- 1:17Speaker 2: goat is right now.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Because we all know goat debates.
- 1:21Speaker 2: They all get settled there, that's right, and they happen
- 1:23Speaker 2: in real time after so many months. Here's our Infrequently
- 1:27Speaker 2: Asked Questions segment. If you have a trivia related question
- 1:30Speaker 2: for our crew, send it to Trivia at the medieater
- 1:32Speaker 2: dot com with the subject line I FAQ. Hannah Lewis says,
- 1:36Speaker 2: how many water bottles do Spenser have? It feels like
- 1:39Speaker 2: he has a new vessel each game of trivia. I
- 1:41Speaker 2: admit his commitment to hydration. I admire his commitment to
- 1:45Speaker 2: hydration while hosting. What you're seeing, Hannah is, we have
- 1:48Speaker 2: my wife and I share four of these water bottles,
- 1:51Speaker 2: and they're interchangeable, so it looks like I have many
- 1:54Speaker 2: additions today. We have the white top and the green bottle.
- 1:58Speaker 2: But I can assure you your house it's not just
- 2:00Speaker 2: filled with water bottles.
- 2:02Speaker 3: I feel like that's a tough thing to share. I
- 2:04Speaker 3: feel like water bottles are really personal.
- 2:07Speaker 2: You know what they kind of are. I think this
- 2:08Speaker 2: is the hot one right now? The wala. My wife
- 2:10Speaker 2: keeps up on what the the best current. Well you're as.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Well, because kids lose them and then we buy more
- 2:19Speaker 4: than they find them.
- 2:22Speaker 2: What do you want to know, Yanny? Some of its features.
- 2:26Speaker 2: We got the button that opens the top. You can
- 2:29Speaker 2: like suck out of it so it can be in
- 2:31Speaker 2: this position and get a drink and you can tip
- 2:33Speaker 2: it back and get a drink that way. And then
- 2:35Speaker 2: again they're interchangeable.
- 2:37Speaker 3: So what part of it is interchangeable?
- 2:39Speaker 2: Is this white part with this green part?
- 2:41Speaker 1: See that?
- 2:43Speaker 5: Yeah, that's that's why the analogy to do that.
- 2:47Speaker 1: With an empty sprite bottle and the empty coke.
- 2:50Speaker 3: That's true too. And you can put a straw in
- 2:53Speaker 3: it to drink up.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yeah, sipping.
- 2:59Speaker 6: When you're hunting.
- 2:59Speaker 2: No, no, it's too heavy, yeah nel gin what I'm hunting.
- 3:04Speaker 2: This is what the cool girls drink out of though
- 3:06Speaker 2: right now?
- 3:06Speaker 3: Yeah, so Stanley's out.
- 3:08Speaker 2: I think Stanley, you're not a water nowherre If you're
- 3:11Speaker 2: drinking out of a Stanley, that's that's a cup.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:15Speaker 7: Stanley reverted back to like coal miners and stuff.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Mmmm, yeah, just like cracker barrel.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Stanley's great.
- 3:24Speaker 2: We have some housekeeping. Some folks have understandably been frustrated
- 3:28Speaker 2: that Spotify has chapters on each episode that spoil the
- 3:31Speaker 2: answers of questions. We are working to fix this. As
- 3:35Speaker 2: of now, there's no way for us to fully turn
- 3:37Speaker 2: that off. It's Spotify's AI that is automatically applying to
- 3:41Speaker 2: each episode. The best we can do at this moment
- 3:44Speaker 2: is to manually remove them from each show until there's
- 3:47Speaker 2: a more thorough solution. Our advice is to just avoid
- 3:50Speaker 2: looking at those chapters, unless, of course, you want to
- 3:53Speaker 2: cheat and really impress your buddies. Have you guys seen
- 3:56Speaker 2: that on Spotify? There's now like AI created chatters and
- 4:00Speaker 2: they say, like, uh, for question one, they debate if
- 4:04Speaker 2: a hippo is a packageer or whatever. So it says
- 4:07Speaker 2: the answer right there. And if your eyes are wandering,
- 4:11Speaker 2: you'll be able.
- 4:11Speaker 1: To cheat AI, ruining lives.
- 4:14Speaker 3: They are No, I'm still an Apple, all right.
- 4:18Speaker 2: The Shelby Index for today is a four, so or
- 4:20Speaker 2: winner should get eight correct answers. And with that we're
- 4:24Speaker 2: onto the game of trivia. You play the drop fill.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Look, I need to know what I stand to win? Everything?
- 4:33Speaker 1: Everything has just tend to win.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Everything demon suckers. Question one. The topic is conservation, and
- 4:47Speaker 2: as always, this will be multiple choice. Which of these
- 4:50Speaker 2: national parks is the Furthest East? Is it Biscayne, Petrified Forest,
- 4:58Speaker 2: Big Bend or bad Lands? Not the Furthest East? Of
- 5:04Speaker 2: all sixty three or sixty four national parks the Furthest East?
- 5:07Speaker 2: Of these four? Is it Biscayne, Petrified Forest, Big Bend
- 5:14Speaker 2: or bad Lands? Randall? I heard you would have been
- 5:18Speaker 2: victorious with a perfect game.
- 5:20Speaker 6: Oh yeah, he was talking all about it.
- 5:22Speaker 1: I just think it was like a good set of
- 5:24Speaker 1: questions for me.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Oh thank you.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Well, you could have moved it to Tuesday and I.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Could have No, we can't record on Tuesdays anymore. It's
- 5:34Speaker 2: too close to the deadline where oh no, you will
- 5:36Speaker 2: not get any more days where we are recording twenty
- 5:39Speaker 2: four hours in advance, So, oh God, could not move
- 5:42Speaker 2: it to Tuesday for you? Which of these national parks
- 5:46Speaker 2: is the Furthest East, Biscayne, Petrified Forest, Big Bend or
- 5:53Speaker 2: bad Lands? Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 5:57Speaker 2: We have logan saying bad Lands eight bad Lands, seth
- 6:02Speaker 2: bad Lands. Randall and Giannis and Marge and Brody say Biscayne.
- 6:08Speaker 8: They got it, Drake fans on this side of the room,
- 6:10Speaker 8: The correct answer is Biscayne Petrified Forest is located in Arizona,
- 6:15Speaker 8: Big Bend is in Texas, bad Lands is in South Dakota,
- 6:19Speaker 8: and Biscayne is in Florida.
- 6:21Speaker 2: The park is within sight of Miami and protects everything
- 6:24Speaker 2: from shipwrecks to manatees. It is located about fourteen hundred
- 6:28Speaker 2: miles further east than bad Lands or Big Bend. Thin.
- 6:32Speaker 3: I've done some fishing in that park, Big Bone fishing,
- 6:37Speaker 3: is it? Or is Biscayne Bay? Is that part of it? Yeah?
- 6:39Speaker 6: I mean it's that same zone.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Yeah, question too.
- 6:42Speaker 2: The topic is gear. This next great question is via
- 6:45Speaker 2: Larry Ziegler. Yet he announced in twenty twenty four that
- 6:50Speaker 2: they acquired this backpack brand. YETI announced in twenty twenty
- 6:59Speaker 2: four that they acquired this backpack brand. A lot of
- 7:03Speaker 2: confident players.
- 7:05Speaker 7: So, Spencer, while we're raiting, I don't know if this
- 7:07Speaker 7: has been talked about before, but how does your wife
- 7:09Speaker 7: feel about Taylor Swift's engagement?
- 7:12Speaker 2: Oh Jesus, our household is becoming cynical on the whole thing.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Yeah, same, the same over here, Spencer.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Phil's household was ahead of us, so there wasn't a
- 7:22Speaker 2: lot of fanfare.
- 7:24Speaker 6: Why you were such a swiftie not that long.
- 7:27Speaker 2: I could still be a swiftye and like you know,
- 7:28Speaker 2: enjoyed the music. Don't believe in curriculars.
- 7:31Speaker 6: Don't believe it.
- 7:32Speaker 2: We could discuss off yet. He announced in twenty twenty
- 7:36Speaker 2: four that they acquired that.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Now even more brand.
- 7:40Speaker 1: I just think it's a real huge boon for the
- 7:42Speaker 1: Cincinnati Bearcats, hoping our recruiting class next year is stronger
- 7:47Speaker 1: because we could both.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Lights crazy true love blossomed right before the season.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Are you one of those copirac I think it's crazy.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I think it's manufactured and yeah, not every moment has
- 8:04Speaker 2: to be like a commercial opportunity.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Oh, but that's what they're doing with it.
- 8:09Speaker 2: It's far beyond like, you know, just like their relationship
- 8:14Speaker 2: I would have. Don't need to Like we're talking about this,
- 8:18Speaker 2: I'll give you all the details.
- 8:19Speaker 1: I think your instincts on this are correct. I think
- 8:22Speaker 1: that we're losing listeners.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Maybe over forty of mickeys.
- 8:26Speaker 2: I still think she makes good music. I like that
- 8:29Speaker 2: her fandom has created like this whole other universe where
- 8:33Speaker 2: folks are very passionate about things in a way that
- 8:36Speaker 2: you know people who care about Star Wars.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I thought you wanted to move on everybody.
- 8:41Speaker 3: I wish Taylor would do it.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Let's go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Logan
- 8:46Speaker 2: and Nate and Seth and Randall and Giannis and Marge
- 8:49Speaker 2: and Brody saying Mystery Ranch.
- 8:52Speaker 3: They got it.
- 8:52Speaker 2: The correct answer is Mystery Ranch. Yet he purchased Mystery
- 8:56Speaker 2: Ranch for thirty six million dollars in January twenty twenty four.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Less than ten months later, rumors began to swirl that
- 9:04Speaker 2: YETI planned to sunset the brand in twenty twenty six.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yet he softly denied those claims, saying they're excited about
- 9:10Speaker 2: the future of Mystery Ranches, Hunt and outdoor products. People
- 9:14Speaker 2: in this room did very well because that is a
- 9:16Speaker 2: local brand.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I was gonna say, we could file that under Bozeman Gossip.
- 9:19Speaker 2: No, this was covered in magazine's podcast.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I know, but it also squarely fits within the realm
- 9:25Speaker 1: of gossip.
- 9:26Speaker 3: You know.
- 9:26Speaker 6: They made a scene on the Runway New York fash weeko.
- 9:30Speaker 4: With Chloe. They did a whole like Fanny Peck thing.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Good for that, odd, I thought.
- 9:36Speaker 2: But cool question three. The topic is hunting. Gun blank
- 9:42Speaker 2: dot Com claims to be quote the world's largest online
- 9:46Speaker 2: marketplace for firearms, AMMO and accessories or quick answers in
- 9:53Speaker 2: the room. Gun blank dot com claims to be the
- 9:58Speaker 2: world's largest online marketplace for firearms, AMMO and accessories.
- 10:03Speaker 6: I'm looking forward to Randall's review.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Yeah, how many hours have you spent on this website?
- 10:08Speaker 1: Oh? Countless hundreds. I was just trying to think of
- 10:11Speaker 1: how many guns I bought on it?
- 10:13Speaker 2: How many have you sold there? You think?
- 10:15Speaker 1: Is it more? I don't sell on I don't sell online.
- 10:18Speaker 1: My buddy sells a lot on there, but they take fees.
- 10:22Speaker 1: I'd much rather just list it locally or like on
- 10:26Speaker 1: a forum where I can, and then you just get
- 10:28Speaker 1: to pay for FFL transfer and.
- 10:31Speaker 2: There you gunblank dot com claim.
- 10:32Speaker 6: So you don't really sells anyway, you just buy them.
- 10:35Speaker 2: No market place for firearms, AMMO and accessories.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, as a bigger fan of arms lists,
- 10:43Speaker 1: but they shut that down, So dude, ri ip Yeah,
- 10:46Speaker 1: Montana gun traders a serviceable substance to your thoughts on
- 10:49Speaker 1: tax swap. I don't. I don't tax swaps. That's a
- 10:52Speaker 1: little too for me.
- 10:54Speaker 2: It's everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 10:59Speaker 2: have Low and Nate and Seth and Randall and Giannis
- 11:04Speaker 2: and Brody saying broker margin without an answer. The correct
- 11:07Speaker 2: answer is gunbroker dot com. Gunbroker dot com has sold
- 11:12Speaker 2: over thirty one million items related to firearms. They are
- 11:16Speaker 2: an auction based website with eight million registered buyers and sellers.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Their inventory includes thirty seven twenty two long rifles and
- 11:25Speaker 2: sixty nine twelve gage shotguns.
- 11:28Speaker 3: I've only bought one. You want to know what it was?
- 11:30Speaker 1: Sure?
- 11:32Speaker 3: It was they It was the Model seventy. That's not
- 11:34Speaker 3: pre sixty four, but that G series that was made
- 11:37Speaker 3: like the pre sixty fours you follow me?
- 11:40Speaker 6: A good one they made after they were bad.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, they had one of those that it
- 11:44Speaker 3: had the controlled extraction instead of the push feed you know,
- 11:48Speaker 3: buy from Brody. No, I bought it from gun broke.
- 11:51Speaker 3: It was a it's in a six five fifty five suede,
- 11:56Speaker 3: which is one of Chuck Hawks's If you ever read
- 11:59Speaker 3: his website, one of his tables, one of his favorites.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Was that a competitive auction for that gun.
- 12:07Speaker 3: I don't know if it was competitive. I knew that
- 12:10Speaker 3: I was gonna have to pay a pretty penny for
- 12:12Speaker 3: it because it was prime condition, and uh and I
- 12:16Speaker 3: ended up paying just about what I thought i'd have
- 12:17Speaker 3: to pay for him.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Okay, rand will give me a story from gunbroker dot com.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Mmm, well, I just trying to think I bought my
- 12:31Speaker 1: HK usc from there.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Oh that's your most recent purchase.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Right, that's my most recent gun broker purchases competitive?
- 12:38Speaker 3: Uh No, it wasn't.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I got it for a song. But then the really
- 12:42Speaker 1: interesting thing is I found an auction. I hope this
- 12:45Speaker 1: doesn't get anybody in trouble, but I found an auction
- 12:49Speaker 1: for some magazines that I needed, and then I found
- 12:53Speaker 1: I started clicking around and I realized that this guy
- 12:56Speaker 1: was local, and so I circumvented wowkun broker, well done,
- 13:02Speaker 1: and just met up with him in person and did
- 13:05Speaker 1: the old faced faced cash deal like I like to
- 13:07Speaker 1: at a truck stop. Good.
- 13:12Speaker 3: And he's a great guy too.
- 13:13Speaker 1: We had a really interesting talk. He's a real collector.
- 13:16Speaker 2: That can't happen when it's just an anonymous auction.
- 13:18Speaker 1: That's the thing you lose. The human touch.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Question for the topic is fishing. What state is Lake
- 13:28Speaker 2: Pontcha Train? The spelling on that is p O N
- 13:34Speaker 2: T c h A R T r ai N. What
- 13:40Speaker 2: state is Lake Pontcha Train? Randal very quick to answer
- 13:44Speaker 2: he was the only one. Yanni has now joined him
- 13:47Speaker 2: with an answer, Randall, have you ever been to this place?
- 13:53Speaker 6: Oh?
- 13:53Speaker 1: Yeah, okay?
- 13:54Speaker 2: What state is Lake Pontcha Train? Many times that is inspired?
- 13:58Speaker 7: Seth now to that. That didn't inspire me. I just
- 14:03Speaker 7: I don't know, and I just picked one of fifty.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Yanni, you seem confident. Have you been there?
- 14:09Speaker 3: I don't. I think I've maybe driven by it.
- 14:14Speaker 2: What state is Lake Poncha Train?
- 14:17Speaker 3: Brody?
- 14:17Speaker 2: How do you feel about your answer?
- 14:19Speaker 3: First one popped in?
- 14:22Speaker 4: Not great?
- 14:22Speaker 6: But you know, I have hope.
- 14:26Speaker 3: When you say the answer, I'm gonna say I knew it.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Okay, I believe you.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Marge taking a guess, Okay, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 14:40Speaker 2: We have logan saying Maine, Nate, Minnesota. Just playing the
- 14:44Speaker 2: odds there, Seth Texas, Randall Louisiana, Jannis, Louisiana, Marge West Virginia,
- 14:52Speaker 2: Brody Louisiana. The correct answer is Louisiana at six hundred
- 14:57Speaker 2: and thirty one square miles. Lake Pontcha Train is the
- 15:00Speaker 2: eleventh biggest lake in the United States, but despite its name,
- 15:04Speaker 2: it's technically an estuary instead of a lake. Poncha Train
- 15:07Speaker 2: is best known for it speckled trout and redfish, as
- 15:10Speaker 2: well as the world's longest continuous bridge over water. Man,
- 15:15Speaker 2: they'll give me a give me a Poncha Train story, now,
- 15:17Speaker 2: since you've been there so many times.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Well, I mean you drive over it if you're going
- 15:22Speaker 1: up to Baton Rouge or Lafayette or wherever. But good
- 15:26Speaker 1: friend of mine, Chris maclouso loves a fish.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Was successful.
- 15:33Speaker 1: No, and he also had his camera at the weird angle,
- 15:35Speaker 1: so it's just kind of looking up at his bottom
- 15:38Speaker 1: of his shirt. But a great guy, he loves it.
- 15:42Speaker 1: I would like to make it down there and actually
- 15:43Speaker 1: get on the water someday. But I have driven over
- 15:45Speaker 1: it many times.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Yanni. Do you remember the bridge? Have you been on
- 15:48Speaker 2: the world's.
- 15:50Speaker 3: From from New Orleans to Venice? No? I don't think so.
- 15:55Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 15:57Speaker 3: I don't think I have.
- 15:58Speaker 2: The topic is camping in campers and r v's blackwater
- 16:03Speaker 2: tanks collect from toilets, while this colored tank collects from
- 16:07Speaker 2: sinks and showers.
- 16:09Speaker 9: Ooh, confident room in Campers and r v's blackwater tanks
- 16:16Speaker 9: collect from toilets, while this colored tank collects from sinks
- 16:21Speaker 9: and showers.
- 16:25Speaker 2: May have another one hundred percent. Here, come on, mags,
- 16:34Speaker 2: everybody ready, here's a question one more time in Campers
- 16:37Speaker 2: and RV's blackwater tanks collect from toilets, while this colored
- 16:41Speaker 2: tank collects from sinks and showers.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Big camp, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 16:47Speaker 2: We have Logan and Nate and Seth and Randall and
- 16:51Speaker 2: Jannis and Marge and Brody. The whole room says gray.
- 16:54Speaker 2: The whole room got it right. The correct answer is gray.
- 16:59Speaker 2: The three primary tanks that most campers and RVs have
- 17:02Speaker 2: are a freshwater tank, gray water tank, and blackwater tank.
- 17:06Speaker 2: The freshwater tank provides clean water for drinking and washing,
- 17:10Speaker 2: while gray and black hold the wastewater. It's recommended when
- 17:13Speaker 2: draining these that you drain the black first and gray second,
- 17:17Speaker 2: which ensures all human waste gets washed out of your hose.
- 17:20Speaker 2: All right, Phil, we're halfway through the game of trivia.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Give us a scoreboard update.
- 17:25Speaker 4: This is a pretty high scoring. Wow, no one has
- 17:27Speaker 4: below three points. Logan, Nate, Seth, and Maggiere are all
- 17:30Speaker 4: tied up with three, and we've got three perfect games
- 17:33Speaker 4: because Randall, Jannis, and Brody have five points at halftime.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I don't know if we've seen three.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Perfect Shelby Index.
- 17:40Speaker 6: Four.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Guys are uh and I thought that show to be honest.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Question six, the topic is fishing. This next great question
- 17:51Speaker 2: is via Justin Phillips game and Fish Magazine declared this
- 17:56Speaker 2: man quote bass Fishing's goat after he announced his tournament
- 18:00Speaker 2: retirement in twenty twenty three. MM talked about the trivia
- 18:05Speaker 2: goat of Brody Henderson. Now we're looking for bass Phishing's goat.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Game and Fish called him that after he announced his
- 18:13Speaker 2: tournament retirement in twenty twenty three. Tough subject for Randal,
- 18:22Speaker 2: this could ruin his perfect game, while Jannis and Brody
- 18:26Speaker 2: seem to like their answers. Game and Fish Magazine declared
- 18:32Speaker 2: this man bass Fishing's goat after he announced his tournament
- 18:36Speaker 2: retirement in twenty twenty three. If you don't know goat,
- 18:39Speaker 2: that's greatest of all time? Is everybody ready?
- 18:45Speaker 3: We talked about go earlier in this episode.
- 18:47Speaker 1: We did Randall, Yeah, I don't like my answer Wow.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Logan without an answer,
- 18:55Speaker 2: Nate says Ricky, Bobby Seth says Kevin van Dam Randall
- 19:00Speaker 2: says Mike Ichnelly Yiannis KVD, Marge without an answer, Brody KVD.
- 19:07Speaker 2: The correct answer is Kevin van Dam KVD retired from
- 19:12Speaker 2: tournaments after earning seven million dollars through thirty six years
- 19:17Speaker 2: of competitive fishing. In that time, he won twenty five tournaments,
- 19:20Speaker 2: including four bass Master Classics and seven Angler of the
- 19:24Speaker 2: Year awards. In total, he weighed in over one hundred
- 19:27Speaker 2: and eighteen thousand pounds of bass as a professional fisherman
- 19:32Speaker 2: from Kalamazoo.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Another product Kazoo and Derek Jeter that's right, Yeah, and
- 19:37Speaker 3: the honest Boutelli. Those are the two guys.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Well, who else from there?
- 19:40Speaker 3: Give me some mother names. Yeah, you're putting me on
- 19:43Speaker 3: the spot.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Now, Jonathan van dam as well, so his brother, Yeah,
- 19:48Speaker 2: and I think his sunfish is now then.
- 19:50Speaker 7: He owns DNR right, Yeah, yeah, yeah, his family's family.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Yeah, Kevin van damn. Question seven, the topic is biology.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Noah defines this eight letter word as quote the examination
- 20:05Speaker 2: of the dead body or carcass of an animal, Noah
- 20:11Speaker 2: defines this eight letter word as the examination of the
- 20:15Speaker 2: dead body or carcass of an animal. Seth is KVD
- 20:21Speaker 2: your goat as well? Would you agree with Game and
- 20:24Speaker 2: Fish Magazine?
- 20:26Speaker 3: Uh?
- 20:26Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean he's the stats, certainly, don't lie.
- 20:31Speaker 2: I don't know how you'd argue with it. And he
- 20:36Speaker 2: was kind of around maybe at like one of bass
- 20:39Speaker 2: fishing's peaks when it had ESPN airtime, when it was
- 20:42Speaker 2: like as cool as it could be, and he was
- 20:44Speaker 2: still winning all these tournaments. Noah defines this eight letter
- 20:48Speaker 2: word as the examination of the dead body or carcass.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Of an animal.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Eight letters W. Randall lost his perfect game. Randall, do
- 20:59Speaker 2: you know who came AVD?
- 21:00Speaker 7: I do?
- 21:01Speaker 1: I do? And I should have known that because when
- 21:04Speaker 1: I was down in Springfield, Missouri, I got to go
- 21:06Speaker 1: through the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame. Oh and there's
- 21:09Speaker 1: a big old KBD thing there. But I was just
- 21:13Speaker 1: I couldn't think of any tournament anglers except for Mike Kinelly,
- 21:17Speaker 1: and I kept thinking Jimmy Houston and Bill dans Is.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Everybody ready just didn't get me anywhere. Noah defines this
- 21:24Speaker 2: eight letter word.
- 21:30Speaker 1: That's all I know.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Go ahead, and reveal your answers.
- 21:35Speaker 2: We have logan saying autopsy, Nate and Seth and Randall
- 21:41Speaker 2: and Giannis and Brody saying me cropsy Marge with un answers.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Answer is ne cropsy, and autopsy is to humans as
- 21:50Speaker 2: a knee cropsy is to animals. These are commonly done
- 21:53Speaker 2: by vets, biologists and game wardens. Tony Peterson thinks performingne
- 21:57Speaker 2: cropsies will make you a better hunter. Hear the reasoning
- 22:00Speaker 2: why go read his article on the mediater dot com
- 22:03Speaker 2: called why deer hunters should always perform a knee crops Oh, you.
- 22:07Speaker 6: Should be doing that stuff with your kids after they
- 22:09Speaker 6: kill one.
- 22:09Speaker 3: That's right, Stack, I agree. I like to promote this
- 22:13Speaker 3: idea as well.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Especially if you're interested in termina ballistics.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Yes, sir, or what a deer has been eating, or.
- 22:21Speaker 1: The worm channel that you're projecting.
- 22:22Speaker 3: This well, both are equally important.
- 22:25Speaker 2: That's right. You'll be a more unter if if you
- 22:29Speaker 2: just poke around in there. Question eighth, the topic is cooking,
- 22:34Speaker 2: and this next great question is via Colin t. This
- 22:38Speaker 2: invasive mammal was the target of a twenty twenty five
- 22:42Speaker 2: US Fish and Wildlife Service campaign called Save a swamp
- 22:46Speaker 2: saute a blank? Oh oh, Randall and Seth very quick
- 22:52Speaker 2: to answer. This invasive mammal was the target of a
- 22:55Speaker 2: twenty twenty five US Fish and Wildlife Service campaign called
- 23:00Speaker 2: quote save a swamp saute a Blank? Yanni, how do
- 23:06Speaker 2: you feel about your answer? Perfect game on the line
- 23:09Speaker 2: on question eight.
- 23:10Speaker 3: I think it's a mammal.
- 23:12Speaker 6: Them them little dash mark.
- 23:14Speaker 2: They are irrelevant. It could be a two letter word,
- 23:17Speaker 2: it could be a fifteen letter word.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Save a swamp sautea cow boar.
- 23:27Speaker 2: This invasive mammal was the target of a twenty twenty
- 23:30Speaker 2: five US Fish and Wildlife Service campaign called Save a
- 23:33Speaker 2: swamp saute a Blank. Big and Rich was my favorite
- 23:37Speaker 2: country group when I was a kid because they loved
- 23:40Speaker 2: South Dakota. They loved coming there and performing on their
- 23:43Speaker 2: first album, Horse of a Different Color. Their license plates
- 23:47Speaker 2: on their motorcycles or South Dakota plates, the name is
- 23:51Speaker 2: Big and Rich, Big and Rich, that's right, John John,
- 23:54Speaker 2: Big John Rich and Big Kennny that's right. They split
- 23:59Speaker 2: up for a while. He was kind of a devastating
- 24:01Speaker 2: moment for Big and Rich fans. But now they're back together.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Hmm. I didn't realize that this.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Invasive mammal was the target of a twenty twenty five
- 24:08Speaker 2: US Fish and Wildlife Service campaign called Save Save a
- 24:12Speaker 2: Swamp saute a Blank. Their solo careers did not work out.
- 24:18Speaker 1: They just had to.
- 24:19Speaker 2: They had to reunite.
- 24:21Speaker 6: They couldn't be just big or just rich.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Didn't work. Didn't work, Hall and Oates.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Were you big and rich fan Seth Yeah, Cowboy Troy Yeah,
- 24:34Speaker 2: Cowboy cowboy Joy.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:38Speaker 2: It's everybody ready. Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 24:43Speaker 2: have logan saying the famous mammal iguana, uh Nate saying
- 24:49Speaker 2: the famous mammal snake. We have set saying Neutria, Randall's
- 24:53Speaker 2: Neutri Giannis new Tria, Marge without an answer, Brodie, Newtria,
- 24:58Speaker 2: they got it the correct answer.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Newtrio doesn't make sense.
- 25:05Speaker 1: It's a federal agency. It's not gonna rhyme.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Newtria are originally from South America. They destroy North American
- 25:13Speaker 2: wetlands by eating the roots of native plants, which accelerates
- 25:17Speaker 2: erosion and turns marshes into open water. The US Fish
- 25:20Speaker 2: and Wildlife Service encourages their harvest, saying Nutria have a lean,
- 25:25Speaker 2: mild flesh that tastes like rabbit or the dark meat
- 25:28Speaker 2: of a turkey. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries shares
- 25:32Speaker 2: recipes on their website for Newtria gumbo and Newtrio Jumbalaya.
- 25:37Speaker 2: All right, Fall, we have two questions left. Give us
- 25:39Speaker 2: a scoreboard update.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Let's see here, looks like logan, Nate and Maggie are
- 25:45Speaker 4: out of the running for the win. Got Seth with
- 25:48Speaker 4: six points, Randal is seven and tied up with a
- 25:52Speaker 4: perfect game. Still are Jannis and Brody with eight?
- 25:55Speaker 2: Here's question nine? The topic. It's Frontiersman. Frontiersman Davy Crockett
- 26:02Speaker 2: died on March sixth, eighteen thirty six in this modern city,
- 26:12Speaker 2: Brody and Randall.
- 26:14Speaker 3: And not my strong suit.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Frontiersman Davy Crockett died on March sixth, eighteen thirty six
- 26:22Speaker 2: in this modern city.
- 26:25Speaker 3: I can tell you the state. Does that get me anything?
- 26:29Speaker 1: Not enough?
- 26:32Speaker 2: Frontiersman Davy Crockett died on March sixth, eighteen thirty six,
- 26:37Speaker 2: in this modern city. Nate, do you know this one?
- 26:42Speaker 6: How about a long Davy Crockett for us? Randall, let
- 26:44Speaker 6: her rip dat.
- 26:51Speaker 1: I felt like we had a chorus there.
- 26:52Speaker 4: I was going to start started at the chorus.
- 26:55Speaker 1: I don't really have the whole number going on a
- 26:56Speaker 1: mountain daring there you get perfect, Janni.
- 27:01Speaker 2: How do you feel about your answer?
- 27:03Speaker 3: It is a city in this great state.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Okay, that's a hint.
- 27:10Speaker 2: It's everybody ready. Go ahead and reveal your answers to
- 27:17Speaker 2: New Orleans, Natean san Antonio, Seth Nashville Randall, and Giannis
- 27:24Speaker 2: san Antonio Marche Philadelphia, Brody san Antonio. The correct answer
- 27:30Speaker 2: is San Antonio. Thousands of Mexican soldiers stormed the lightly
- 27:36Speaker 2: defended Alamo and the day Crockett died. Some historians say
- 27:42Speaker 2: he went down fighting with a heroic glass stand, while
- 27:45Speaker 2: others claim he surrendered and was executed. For more on
- 27:48Speaker 2: this controversial subject, go read Pat durkins article on the
- 27:51Speaker 2: Meat Eater dot com called, did Davy Crockett go down Swinging?
- 27:56Speaker 2: Is anyone ben to the Alamo?
- 27:57Speaker 1: Yep? I have.
- 28:00Speaker 2: March. You didn't know Davy Crockett died there?
- 28:03Speaker 4: I guess I didn't read enough plaques.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Tell me about the visit had their brody it was.
- 28:08Speaker 6: You know, it's cool you go into a little like
- 28:11Speaker 6: Cha Chapel Museum. I think they call it, isn't it?
- 28:14Speaker 2: So?
- 28:14Speaker 6: Yeah, there's some cool stuff in there. We weren't there long.
- 28:18Speaker 6: We're just passing through San Antonio on our way down
- 28:22Speaker 6: to Padre Island, so we.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Didn't stay long.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Who else died there?
- 28:25Speaker 6: Booie everyone?
- 28:28Speaker 1: Everyone?
- 28:29Speaker 2: Pretty much?
- 28:31Speaker 6: What's his name?
- 28:31Speaker 1: The Mexican General?
- 28:33Speaker 4: Uh?
- 28:35Speaker 1: Santana.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Yeah, here's a correct answer. Review so far.
- 28:38Speaker 2: One was Biscay National Park, two Mystery Ranch three Gunbroker
- 28:43Speaker 2: dot Com four, Louisiana five Gray six Kevin van Dam
- 28:50Speaker 2: seven Knee Cropsy eight Neutria nine San Antonio, Phil. How's
- 28:55Speaker 2: the scoreboard look going into question ten?
- 28:59Speaker 4: Well, the uh standings remain the same, with Brody and
- 29:03Speaker 4: Yannis still at their perfect game nine points in randall
- 29:06Speaker 4: one point behind at eight.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Question ten, the topic is hunting. This is our listener
- 29:11Speaker 2: question of the week, which was won by Sam Woodward.
- 29:14Speaker 2: We're sending this great question. Sam is going to get
- 29:17Speaker 2: a board game signed by the crew. If you want
- 29:19Speaker 2: a chance to win the listener Question of the Week,
- 29:21Speaker 2: then send your question to Trivia at the Medeater dot com.
- 29:25Speaker 2: According to Pheasants Forever, this is the peak egg laying
- 29:30Speaker 2: month for pheasants. See according to pheasants forever, this is
- 29:39Speaker 2: the peak egg laying month for pheasants. We have Jannis
- 29:43Speaker 2: and Brody with blank whiteboards. They are tied right now
- 29:47Speaker 2: with a perfect game. Randall is one point behind them.
- 29:51Speaker 2: If he could get this right and they falter, we
- 29:54Speaker 2: will have a three way tie.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Well, you know what they say about me, Spencer, What
- 29:58Speaker 1: do they say? One of my strong suits is questions
- 30:01Speaker 1: about birds and who is they Randall? There's a guy
- 30:06Speaker 1: on Instagram that points out every time that I get a.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Bird question wrong, no ornithologist. That's what they say about Randall.
- 30:13Speaker 2: According to Pheasants Forever, this is the peak egg laying
- 30:17Speaker 2: month for pheasants.
- 30:19Speaker 3: Oh May, I want to change, but I'm not going to.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Two perfect games on the line. Is everybody ready, yes,
- 30:31Speaker 2: go ahead and reveal your answers. We have logan saying
- 30:35Speaker 2: June Nate, April seth May, Randall March, Yannis May, March May,
- 30:45Speaker 2: Brody May. The correct answer.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Is May.
- 30:51Speaker 2: We have two perfect games between Brody and Yannis. The
- 30:56Speaker 2: average hen lays a dozen eggs that take twenty three
- 30:59Speaker 2: days to hatch. This is a taxing process that can
- 31:02Speaker 2: cause a pheasant to lose seventy five percent of their
- 31:05Speaker 2: body fat and ten percent of their body weight. They
- 31:08Speaker 2: then hit their poorest physical condition in August, which is
- 31:11Speaker 2: when they're most susceptible to disease and predators. All right,
- 31:15Speaker 2: we're headed overtime play the drop phill.
- 31:19Speaker 3: Tie breaker.
- 31:25Speaker 2: The tie breaker will be a numerical question. We are
- 31:28Speaker 2: down to Brody and Giannis.
- 31:29Speaker 3: I just comment on that drop, like, Yeah, that feels
- 31:32Speaker 3: so intense to me. I feel like my life is
- 31:34Speaker 3: on the line.
- 31:35Speaker 1: That's a good one.
- 31:36Speaker 2: How it should feel.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Like that Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. Was it like? Was he
- 31:41Speaker 3: like Running Man or something like that. I feel like
- 31:43Speaker 3: I'm about to enter into like something like that.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Well, there's a one thousand dollars donation on the line
- 31:49Speaker 2: because YouTube boys put up perfect games today, and it
- 31:51Speaker 2: could go up to eleven hundred dollars if one of
- 31:54Speaker 2: you gets this right on the nose.
- 31:56Speaker 6: I find that drop very relaxing.
- 31:58Speaker 2: So all right, everyone in the room will play along, though,
- 32:03Speaker 2: because if somebody gets this right on the nose, Mediater's
- 32:06Speaker 2: going to add that extra one hundred dollars. We've already
- 32:09Speaker 2: doubled the donation today. Let's see if we can get
- 32:11Speaker 2: some more.
- 32:11Speaker 6: One more question? Have we had a perfect game tiebreaker
- 32:14Speaker 6: one time?
- 32:15Speaker 2: That has happened one time in mediater trivia history. I
- 32:18Speaker 2: think this is like episode one hundred eighty, so it's
- 32:21Speaker 2: now happened twice.
- 32:22Speaker 3: If I lose after overtime, do I still get the
- 32:25Speaker 3: perfect game?
- 32:26Speaker 2: Yeah, you'll be credited with a perfect game. Have you
- 32:28Speaker 2: had a perfect game before?
- 32:30Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 32:31Speaker 3: Okay, maybe a lot.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Of history to be made here, all right. The tie
- 32:36Speaker 2: breaking subject is nature. What percentage of Americans think they
- 32:43Speaker 2: could beat a bald ego a bald eagle in an
- 32:46Speaker 2: unarmed fight?
- 32:48Speaker 3: A bald ego, they'd be like fighting Brody.
- 32:53Speaker 2: One percentage of American You're you're the eagle.
- 32:59Speaker 3: I know you.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Said a bald ego?
- 33:01Speaker 3: I did.
- 33:01Speaker 1: It's good.
- 33:03Speaker 2: What percentage of Americans I think they could beat a
- 33:07Speaker 2: bald eagle in an unarmed fight? This is via a
- 33:11Speaker 2: twenty twenty one pole.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Who did the pot?
- 33:15Speaker 2: I think it was you, Gov. It was like a
- 33:17Speaker 2: pretty official let me see if asked no question?
- 33:21Speaker 1: Oh you go, It's like a It's like it's just
- 33:25Speaker 1: a website, isn't it. I don't know.
- 33:28Speaker 6: Can I make a small request what you can avoid
- 33:30Speaker 6: tie break like this kind of this is.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Like it was you gov. That was a you gov poll.
- 33:36Speaker 2: What percentage of Americans think they could beat a bald
- 33:40Speaker 2: eagle in an unarmed fight?
- 33:42Speaker 6: Like the Boone and Crockett one we had last time?
- 33:44Speaker 6: That was like very cut and dry.
- 33:46Speaker 2: We got to mix in a fun one every now
- 33:48Speaker 2: and then.
- 33:49Speaker 6: This is fun.
- 33:50Speaker 5: So like I feel like males in our country? How
- 33:55Speaker 5: far say I can't? So that's fifty percentage more? Now
- 33:58Speaker 5: what percentage out of emails are.
- 34:01Speaker 1: You trying to help Brody?
- 34:02Speaker 3: I'm just having fun with it.
- 34:04Speaker 1: How many percent would you like us to go to?
- 34:08Speaker 2: I want us to get it right on the nose,
- 34:10Speaker 2: so we're not doing any decimals. Just write a whole number.
- 34:13Speaker 2: There were twelve hundred US adults pulled for this question.
- 34:18Speaker 2: What percentage of Americans think they could beat a bald
- 34:21Speaker 2: eagle in an unarmed fight?
- 34:24Speaker 1: Do you think this is a phone call survey type
- 34:26Speaker 1: of thing? Don't.
- 34:28Speaker 2: No, they might have been standing outside of the Seers
- 34:30Speaker 2: and Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
- 34:33Speaker 3: I can't.
- 34:33Speaker 1: The question would be are people who have landlines more
- 34:36Speaker 1: likely to be able to be confident to fight against
- 34:38Speaker 1: a bald eagle.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Again, twelve hundred Americans were surveyed for this question.
- 34:44Speaker 1: They're probably more traditional, so they likely have a higher
- 34:47Speaker 1: reverence for the capabilities of our nation's.
- 34:51Speaker 3: Fighting skill.
- 34:51Speaker 2: They leave the question a little open ended. So what
- 34:53Speaker 2: does it mean to beat the bald eagle? Like?
- 34:55Speaker 3: Did you just defeat it.
- 34:57Speaker 2: And it can't rastley anymore? Is it dead? You just
- 35:01Speaker 2: killed the thing? I don't know.
- 35:02Speaker 1: I think whenever I being a bird, I think of
- 35:04Speaker 1: it not being able to fly away.
- 35:06Speaker 6: Usually when I break, it's lightless birds.
- 35:10Speaker 2: It's everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 35:15Speaker 2: have Logan saying fifty three percent, Nate sixty nine, Nice,
- 35:20Speaker 2: Seth sixty seven, Randall eighty seven, Marge fifty two, and
- 35:26Speaker 2: our two players left. We have Brody saying sixty two
- 35:30Speaker 2: and Yanni saying seventy eight percent of Americans could be
- 35:33Speaker 2: an old.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Eagle armed fight some we get it right on the nose.
- 35:38Speaker 2: The correct answer, it's thirty percent. Make Brody our winner.
- 35:45Speaker 2: He was thirty two percent.
- 35:47Speaker 6: A landline pole.
- 35:51Speaker 2: I think again, you have to consider they're doing this
- 35:53Speaker 2: survey like outside of a seers in Wisconsin. Uh not,
- 35:57Speaker 2: everyone is like, yeah, I could I could woo?
- 36:00Speaker 1: Have those people seen a bald eagle?
- 36:02Speaker 2: No, thirty percent of Americans think they could beat one
- 36:06Speaker 2: in a fight. In that same twenty twenty one poll,
- 36:10Speaker 2: only eighteen percent of Britain said they could beat could
- 36:14Speaker 2: beat up an eagle, and men were more confident than women,
- 36:17Speaker 2: with thirty nine percent of American men versus twenty two
- 36:20Speaker 2: percent of American women saying they'd win the fight. The
- 36:24Speaker 2: study found that American women and British men have about
- 36:27Speaker 2: the same confidence of winning fights with kangaroos and wolves.
- 36:31Speaker 1: Now, I've never really bought into the whole crisis of
- 36:33Speaker 1: masculinity thing, but that thirty nine percent number has me concern.
- 36:37Speaker 2: It's even worse concern if you're on the other side
- 36:40Speaker 2: of the Atlantic. Those folks really don't believe in their
- 36:43Speaker 2: their animal fighting ability. So Brody, who did not like
- 36:46Speaker 2: the question is the winner? Brody, where is that one
- 36:50Speaker 2: thousand dollars donation going today?
- 36:52Speaker 6: Oh?
- 36:52Speaker 2: It's a thousand, one thousand dollars. You we've done this
- 36:55Speaker 2: in the past. You could split it up into two
- 36:57Speaker 2: five hundred dollars.
- 36:58Speaker 6: Yes, pick five.
- 37:00Speaker 3: Give someone the big, big grand there you make their day.
- 37:04Speaker 6: Splash it Uh, I'm gonna go Mule Deer Foundation.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Mule Deer Foundation. I think Brody is their biggest donor
- 37:12Speaker 2: on behalf of Meat Eater Trivia. What do you like
- 37:14Speaker 2: about Mule Deer Founder.
- 37:15Speaker 6: I like big Mule Deer bucks.
- 37:16Speaker 2: And you like their hats?
- 37:18Speaker 6: Yeah, do not wet. I like that hat with the
- 37:21Speaker 6: the silhouette direct sunrise. Yeah, I need more those.
- 37:25Speaker 2: There you go, thousand dollars via Meat Eater and Brody
- 37:29Speaker 2: going to the Mule Deer Foundation. Well, Doniannis, thanks very close,
- 37:34Speaker 2: very not good enough.
- 37:36Speaker 5: No, it's like finishing one hundred mile race but not
- 37:39Speaker 5: you know, get in first place.
- 37:40Speaker 3: Still feel real good about it.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Made it to the end. Join us next week for
