- Ranch Wives: there have been some people questioning ⁓ chickens. ⁓ I a chicken. I have three words for you. I chickens. Go nuts! ⁓ But you did no hold on, you gotta reverse that statement. You did meat chickens. I hate chickens. Yes, I did meat chickens because I like the meat birds. Or like I like chickens. To eat chicken. And I don't like grocery store chicken. Therefore I will make a sacrifice and raise chickens. And my son was very committed to He committed. He committed to Those were his chickens. Yeah. He did a lot of the Yeah. Why is there have you always hated chickens? Or you just Did you have chickens growing up? Yes. Okay. Yeah. Is there smell bad? They're disgusting. I hate chickens. Okay. Okay. Fair. So meat birds, you said you're gonna do meat birds again, like next year. Yeah. ⁓ is it just gonna be your son doing it again? Probably. Like you'll buy them and pick them up and then like he does everything else. That's his chore, quote unquote. His his birds. Well and then I'll get extra chickens. Yeah. Trinity gets chickens. Yeah. So then the extra money goes to that doesn't pay for the chickens and the feed, he gets to keep Absolutely. So that's the incentive for him to like really. Like he bought a quad. Yeah. That's like a really nice hobby store, whatever quality ⁓ RC boat for in the pond. I love that for him. He likes to He likes to make money and he was like, We should do chickens this year, Mom. We should do chickens. You're like, I have no And I was like, can't. I don't have the band width this year. We need to move the kennel from where it is. Yeah. Like the pen because it's ⁓ close to the house. Too close to the house. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. I've also heard that meat chickens are stinkier than laying hens Is that when I went over there and I was like, these guys stink. I think it depends on. ⁓ If they're free range and how like penned up they are. Yours were penned up, so 'cause I walked into Brea's chicken coop and was like, yeah, 'cause I haven't I haven't mine are still in their winter coop and I haven't cleaned out deep layer. really? She's rank right now. yeah. 'Cause normally my g my chickens in the summer, so in the winter we deep layer them. So I don't because we don't have electricity out there. Yeah. We don't heat our coop. So I just add shavings as it gets stinky I add more shavings. Yeah. Continue on my way. That's it. All I do. Yeah. Sometimes I solar panel some like Christmas lights out there to give some fun. But that's ⁓ it. And my my coop stays like even in minus forty, it stays about minus five. So like it's it's warm and there it creates a lot of heat. But with that being said, it does get stinky if you're not on top of the organic material, in which case I use shavings. I tried to use straw, but straw was really moist. Yes, very us too. So I quit using straw. Do you have like a vent in your coop? yeah. Okay, I don't. And I need one next year. Yeah. I have three vents in my coop. Okay. I also have So it doesn't get as moist then. Because mine gets pretty But I also switched from straw because I found that the straw was creating a lot of moisture. So then switching to shavings has made a difference. But you also have to be on top of like adding Adding the layers. To it. Otherwise it just gets rank. And right now it's really ranked. And then the eggs get like poopy too. Yeah. Right now that's really rank because they're digging up all the Old. Yeah, so they're like looking for critters in there because it's it's composting essentially is what it's doing. So there's all sorts of bugs that they be eating in there. That's why it was so rank when you came out. But normally, end of May, my chickens go into what we call the egg mobile and it's like a stock trailer insert that you the his grandpa bought like years ago that you used to put on a trailer and just bolt down and then load your cow into it. It's like an old metal frame. Yeah. Built. Anyways, we converted that into a onto a trailer. Maybe it was on a trailer. I can't remember. We we converted it though. And then put it Did you put like fencing on it so they can't get out then? No, no, no. ⁓ well yeah, we boarded it all up. Yeah. So it's like a it was like the metal part was the stock trailer. We boarded it all up, made it like a coop. Yeah. But it's on wheels and then I just drag it behind my cows. Sometimes they're electrical. Do you hook your cows up to it? No, no. Sorry. ⁓ no, sorry. I pull it the side by side behind like when my cows have grazed up. She'll like she'll like no, my cows don't. Okay. The cow is like pulling Yeah, like you talk like this. That's how you keep your milk cow from leaving? No, no, no, no, no, Okay. Okay. So that's amazing I pull it with the side by side behind the my cows in whatever paddock they were in last. They scratch through. Then it's way cheaper on feed because they're on grass. The eggs are cleaner. The eggs are cleaner. Everybody is happier. I need to see this, actually. I'll show you. It's super easy. I need to see it. So you haven't put them in there yet though? No. And then it was too wet. I was gonna do it this week. ⁓ And then it was so wet. And I was like, well that seems rude to throw them out in there when it's pouring rain. Yeah. Because we've had a lot of rain this week. So Keith doesn't know it yet, but that's actually my mission for tonight. Woo! We'll see how we get. We'll see. We'll see. See how far you get. Yes. But yeah, that's that's my method on chickens. Okay, yeah. And how many do you have? Like 50. Whoa. Okay, so this started out as a thing. The first year I hatched chickens when from my in-laws, my mother-in-law, she gave me like a bunch of hatch chickens. I was like, cool. Nine hatched. Yeah. That's it. That's all I got out of 36 eggs. So then 36 eggs and 9 hatches. Not a good germination rate. We had a bad germination rate, folks. It was real bad. So then the next year, I hatched the same amount and I'd also bought from I can't remember where I got the eggs. I think it was from one of his aunts. I bought 36 from her. hatch those. But because I was like 30 and 36? No, so thir I bought 36 eggs from her. I put them in the incubator. Yeah. Then just before they hatch, I bought ⁓ more expensive hatching eggs. Like bougie. Like nice colors. Fun eggs. Yes. Not expecting I was expecting to get nine. Nine. Well ⁓ we a bit more than that. I think we got like Thirty two. wow. Chicken. And then I had to do another ha I had to do another hatch. I already paid for the eggs. Yeah. And we got like twenty something. What I think I had two dozen, I think every single one except for like one hatch. ⁓ my Something like that. So we we had a lot But then there are roo's in with that. Like roosters. If you don't know what you're hatching. Yes, yes, yes. So we ended up with like fifty some odd chicken. Also when you're doing like thirty six eggs, you're like half of these could be roosters. Yeah. That's what you're thinking when you're hatching eggs. Absolutely. So we ended up with like I think out of fifty chickens, roughly, we ended up with like 32 hens. The rest were roosters. So I had great, great success rate. Yeah, that's good. So, anyways, I ended up with about fifty chickens. Yeah. So since then have you still been hatching? Sorry, I've lied just through my teeth. I've just realized that No, because the year that the his mom gave me eggs to hatch that didn't hatch, I bought this is where fifty came into place. I bought chicks. ⁓ I was gonna say somewhere your math is wrong. I bought chicks. So I had like twenty five. I think only like twenty had survived everything. Then I did the hatching eggs. I got a batch. That's what it was. I got a a dozen or so from his aunt. Yeah. And then you got another two dozen. And I bought a a whole bunch. Holy So then we ended up with like thirty-two hens. Yeah. It was still two batches, but we ended up with like thirty-two. Mm-hmm. So what colors of eggs are you getting right now? Right now, I've incorporated more chickens since that. Yeah. But I've got And do you hatch all yours or do you buy chicks or do you buy what do you The last normal? I've just hatched. 'Cause I had a better first off, you get a broody hen, throw them suckers under there. They work. I ha do have a broody hen, so I should Do you mark Do you mark the eggs? I just separate them out and then let them hatch. Just don't pull from that nest? Yeah, I just don't pull. Yeah. 'Cause I went in the box and she's kind of been in that box, but sometimes I'll go in and she's not in the box. So then I'm like does she have all her bottom feathers plucked on her chest? No. That's how you know when they're real broody. That's they'll sit. But typically every day when I go in there, she's almost always on those. I bet you But I'm like, should I just use a Sharpie and just like mark Because if she leaves and then there's new ones, I don't want there to be like a hundred eggs. Yeah. No, no, you don't want that. No. I would just separate her out and put her something over her. Okay. Like I have a little brood. Okay, so wait. You have like a brood Well, no, it didn't start out like that. What happened was we ended up with all these stinking chicks. Yeah. I didn't have enough room in my coop for everybody. Yeah. Because we used an old hunting shack as my coop at Granny's. Like it wasn't. So we built a bunch of chicken tractors and raised those chicks in chicken tractors. Right. Beautiful. I didn't have to cut my grass that year. Yeah. And Granny's grass looked great. Yes. Very green, very fertilized. Yeah. But Because I had that, I have three really big ones and then we built a really small one for when the chicks were just itty bitty. Yeah. Because I didn't think they could. Just a chicken tractor. Okay. So then you put your broody hens in there. So I put my I throw a broody hen in there. I should do that. It's so easy. That's what I should do. But you could pretty much do anything. It doesn't then you just set You just grab her and throw her in. Yeah. They'll be mad for a bit, but then she'll go settle and sit on her eggs. In my in in my experience. And they don't lay when they're broody. No. That's why I have like fifty chickens right now. I'm getting like barely two dozen eggs. Yeah. Because I have a whole bunch of broody hens. Okay. And you got a broody break from my chickens. Typically I f I found with mine, like when they're one year old, that's when they like really go broody. Like none of my older chickens are broody. ⁓ really? Yeah. I have none of my first Flock. Is broody? It's broody. None of them. Some breeds are also just in natural broodier. Right. Like I have a black opington, I think, or Orpington or something like that. They're like super fluffy. Yeah. She's probably like four years old. I doubt she's actually laying. Best mom out there. I will throw a chick under her any day. really? Great mom. ⁓ good. And she's always broody Always broody. Okay. We love a broody hen. And then I have these little ones. I'm not utilizing my broody hens. Yeah, you should. I'm not. I just go under and grab the eggs. Well, they're not lying anyway. So you should either br and I'm this is the pot calling the kettle black because I haven't broody broke anybody this summer. But stick them in like a dog crate, let the air flow under them, they cool off, they go they stop being broody. Really? I've had to do it a few times. You just put their food and water in with them. Yeah. But put that crate up on rocks or whatever. ⁓ so they can't get hot under So they can't get hot. Interesting. This is good information. Fun fact, that's what I've learned. Cause it I had my I had like, I don't know, two years ago, I think I had twelve go broody within wow. You're like, no, I need more eggs. Sounds I literally can't have everybody going and some are really mean and horrible. Yeah, they're mean. Yeah. Whereas like that Black one that I telling you about. She's like so sweet. She like lets you check and like she doesn't peck you. But I have this white I have a white mean one. Yeah, she's like a white silky that we got from one of Keith's buddy who's who like did chickens. She's so stinkin' mean, man. Like she'd attacks you. So I she went missing last year and I didn't she the silkies sneak under the electric fence because they're small. ⁓ they don't they go right through the electric fence. Your your dogs don't eat them when they get out? My big dogs? Yeah. No. They protect them. Really? ⁓ yeah. Those Kangles are ten the smaller the animal, the more likely they will to protect it. Interesting. And cats too then. Yeah, they don't really like my cats, but my cats are overly mean to them. But yeah. But yeah, like my cats don't do anything with them. And neither does Moo Dog. Your dog is like I will eat anything small. That runs away. I think they're not Jaeger. No? ⁓ We have stray cats in the yard now. Really? Whiskey did that. Whiskey was the culprit Whiskey was the yeah. The birds are back. There was a pigeon. In my yard. wow. Really? Yeah. Well that's a wild thing. That's interesting. Yeah, so we know who kept the Yeah, who kept the critters away. ⁓ that's wild. Huh? Huh. Yeah, like our dogs in general don't I've never had a problem. However, my in law's dog also kelppie or herding breed in her. That dog has done killed a buttload of my chickens. Yes. ⁓ She be she herds the road, but she doesn't she doesn't she plucks them until they croak. ⁓ Like she plays with them Yeah. Our dogs I think that's what Whiskey did too. Like with the cats. she'd herd it and chase it and then That's what Diego to do as well. He is But he's like I'm really on it so he hasn't done anything like the cats. He looks like his mother. He also apparently acts like his mother. Yes, but he does. Kip's seems chill compared to Diego. So chill. But he's only half Kelpie. He lets the cats like rub up on him and he just loves it. They'll like snuggle together. Kip is only half Kelpie. That's funny. And he's just like the sweetest old man now. He's just like Doo doo doo, it's fine. He loves the cats. the barn, the same like I don't know. breed of silky or whatever. Yeah. There was another one that like always went broody in our barn. And like s this she wasn't very sweet. But what was sweet was our oldest male Kangle would sleep beside her. So I have a picture of them. I kid you not like laying beside each other. But Mandy, my in-law's dog, Is herds everything. Yeah. Those my big dogs been out to work during calving. She came in, got that chicken, those Kangles, put a licken on that dog. She didn't come down to my yard for a bit. Yeah. But she's smart. That my in law's dog is smart. She don't come she don't come get my chickens when those big dogs are home. ⁓ the moment they go out to work for two years she's come down and stole chickens. She loves herself a good chicken nugget? Yeah, she she loves chicken nuggets. She's a problem. She is a problem. So my chickens were free ranged, but last year I was so sick and tired of them laying in the bush and me not finding eggs. And my dog would find them, the crows would find them. I was like, next year we have to lock these guys up, especially in the summer. Like I can't do it anymore. I love having them free ranged. I love it. They eat my grasshoppers. No, but that one was like a yard chicken. And she'd come sit on the porch. She'd steal food off your plate. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What? ⁓ yeah. Yeah. She was the yard chicken. Bernice. My mom named her Bernice. And she would just all the other chickens would be like out and about and she would just come and she knew like if you had food, she would just come and like beg. Yeah. Really? Yeah. ⁓ yeah. I don't think I've had any like. You had to like guard your plate from the chicken, not the dog. That's funny. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. So as much as I love that, also they would poop on my deck. ⁓ no. And now I'm like, my kids are like barefoot everywhere now. So I'm like, I'd just rather not that everywhere. Yeah. So we've finally built a fence this year and then they're fenced in. And then every once like every three weeks I'll do a day where they can just like hammer down on all the critters that are moving in, like ants and everything. I'm like they they ate down three of my anthills. I don't know if I just I need Bernice to come to my greenhouse then and eat the ant hill out. Yes. Yeah, you just gotta take ⁓ like a day or two. They love ants. Like they've I don't have ants anymore. Huh. I don't know how she eat all will they eat the vegetation though over the ants? Hmm. It's a test we would have to try. Try. You just have to do a day in your greenhouse with the chicken. Yeah. Bring the chicken for coffee and we'll hang out in the greenhouse and she can have the ants. Exactly. Bernice is going for an outing. Bernice is going for coffee. She's going for coffee. So yeah, I locked my chickens up now. Uh-huh. Which is like kind of sad because I loved having them free range, but also it's just too much. Yeah. Mine are far enough away from the house that Don't I Yeah, they don't come to your no I one little But I would love I would just throw my scraps off the deck and then I have this call. I would like click I'd go and then it'll all come running. And then I would throw my scraps off the deck and then they were so mine's hey girls, hey girls, hey girls, hey girls. Yeah. And they come ripping. Yeah. No matter where they are, they're ripping to you. Yeah. You can call them in sometimes. Like if you if they're not where they're supposed to be, you can call them back to where they're going. Which is seems Sometimes chickens are so dumb and sometimes they're so smart. yeah. ⁓ It's a wild ride. But the crow is still eating my eggs. ⁓ don't I had a wedding yesterday so I didn't check for eggs and normally I get like eighteen a day. I found four this morning. How is he getting in through the fence My chickens are scaredy cats and they'll all run to the opposite corner and then the crow just goes in the door. But I thought you have the top? Don't you have a do you did you put a top on the top? not a top. so he's still swooping it. So he's still swooping it. Like the chickens are fenced in, but the top is not fenced in. Put a bird nut on the top. It's you should see how big this fence is. Yeah, but just get like the plasticky bird net that you put over fruit trees. yeah. I think I have a roll at my house. I should look into that. Hmm. Or like snow fence on the top. Yeah. I don't know, you need something. I need something. Because I don't think it's crazy. I don't know about that. Do you guys have foxes? No. Okay, you wanna hear the saddest thing. The first year I ever had chickens before I hatched, Helen gave me like half of her flock. It was like, ⁓ we're not gonna do we don't need this many, like you can take over my chickens. That's that sounds fun. I did. We had them down the barnyard, which is like when we lived at Granny's, you'd have to cross like the bridge, go to the barnyard. That's where our chickens were. I always let them free range, it was no problem. We were at a small group one day, we come home that night, and it was a ⁓ chicken massacre out there. Yeah. The fox didn't even eat them. I was crying. I was so So well. just left them? Just left them. ⁓ It's like weasels. They'll just suck the blood out of them and then Really? Yeah, that's what weasels do. ⁓ They suck the blood and then they leave. Yeah. Yes. Weasels are Ew. It's gross. They're little vampires. Ew. I did not know that weasels are an issue. I just didn't know that's what they did. Yeah. Yeah. Jorim when Jorim was growing up, they had a lot of weasels. Huh. Anyways, I was devastated, I was like so upset. Yeah. So my neighbor has like fox issues and like weasels and you can think of, but They're obviously happy at his coop. ⁓ your crow is keeping them away. Yeah, maybe my crow is just keeping them away. Could be your dogs too. Well her she has like four dogs. ⁓ then. Yeah, but it probably depends on the dog. Yeah. I'm pretty sure Diego would ⁓ eat them. Yeah. Yeah. He would not let that pass. No. Yeah, like we had coyotes come into the yard. I thought you really multiple Yeah, my dog came out home beat up. ⁓ really? ⁓ especially when there there's one running by themselves, like they Yeah, they circle around. Yeah, there was too many. So that happened. There was two? And then I watched this out the window when we were living at Jorims parents like trailer. There were two ⁓ coyotes chasing Kip and he outran them. Yeah, I think there was more than two. There I would have had to. Yeah, there would have had to have been chomp out of his hip ⁓ guy. ⁓ But he's doing good. He ran cows this morning. So he ⁓ my word. So so him and Kip and Diego, how was that? I was just gonna ask that. How does that go? It was good. Jaeger though was like so excited. He was just Like because of the other dogs? No, because of moving cows. Yeah. But he didn't care about the other dogs. no, he was so much worse than Diego. Like Diego on steroids. Jorim was like, I thought my dog was bad. ⁓ And he's like, yeah, he's a little bit of a crackhead. They are crackheads. So is it because he's not been worked recently? So he was. Yeah, he just loves cows. That's what he does all day. Yeah. And obviously sometimes outside your pen, just yeah, yeah. He's got a trail, like a main trail, from the house to the cow fence. And that's where he stays. Yeah. And you can call him and call him. Sometimes you have to like physically walk over there and like boot him. And then he's like, ⁓ You're talking to me? Yeah. ⁓ okay. ⁓ Yeah. So Diego will hop the fence, like I don't know what type of fence this is. It's like the metal those big metal like chain link fences. No, it's like a it's panels. Paneling. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Metal paneling. He will hop that at Jorims parents' place because sometimes he just leaves them there over lunch or whatever. Yeah. He will hop that and go to the cows. And once again, he is his mother's. ⁓ would cr she would jump out like a window. Not even a foot. No, like out of the stock trailer, like the windows were really like narrow. She's crawling out straight out. ⁓ she would jump. She just cleared like ⁓ yeah. Within two seconds, she was out. Golly. She's nuts. Yeah. Bless her soul. Yeah. That's wild. Yeah. Yeah, Keith's parents' dog loves to herd. Can't herd worth like she's not trained. Yeah. She was a house dog, then she ⁓ was a farm dog. Like she's just not. Yeah. had it in she has the instinct to. ⁓ but she can't. No, and she does more damage than good. But we we've had to be on her because y'all we heard the yearlings worked up one time. Yeah. Mandy was out there having a ball. But what was happening is she was getting our Kangles. They were all running together. So we nipped that in the butt. ⁓ yeah. Pretty quick. Yeah. I don't know, I like the idea of a herding dog, but they have to be working. Otherwise you're Yeah, but see, like I think you guys need one because like do you know how much easier moving cows would be? ⁓ moving cows would be so much easier. You have to. Wait, hold on. I do have to say this. Would I do one? Yes, if it had the right training. However, the one thing that has made our life moving cows easier, electric fencing. Because now they hear the side by side come and they think that they're getting. See, this is farmer cows to me. Yeah. Our cows see the dog and they all like Group up. Group up. Yeah. And you can just move out. And basically, like David ran one side, Jorim was at the back, and then I was on the other side. ⁓ my horse was like sweating. And David and Jorim were just like da da da da. ⁓ like I was ⁓ my horse was working for the dog. Yeah. And theirs was like Just hanging out. Yeah, because their dog was doing the dog was doing all the work. Yeah, yeah. So can't with with you guys having two, but Jorims their main command, I presume, when they're working. Like that's who they that those are his dogs when they're working. So how does it work when you have two? Does he yell the same call? Do they individually No, typically they split up. So like the commands are the same. Yeah. Kip by. So what call means what? And how do you decide this call? Are the calls sorry, this has turned into like a dog. Like way and by is like left and right. Is that is way left? or is way right. I don't know which one is which. I get it, mix ⁓ I can't confirm this because I thought it was one way very confidently, and then I definitely had Jaeger confused and David's like, Why is he going the wrong direction? And I was like, he isn't. And he's like, ⁓ Yeah, he is. ⁓ so wait I'm not hundred percent co confident on my way and by Wait. No just way way way. Like way around or by. Yes. ⁓ But just like way around. I think way is right. And come by is right. Nobody quote us. Don't quote me. There is an actu like a standard cow Yeah, there is a conversation for cowboys with their dogs. I like I the first time I've ever heard it, I'm sure it's used, it was like, that'll do. ⁓ yeah, ⁓ yeah, that's I think that's a little funny. Yeah, that'll be off. Or just like off. Yeah. What's easy? Move up. ⁓ like instead of like pushing them hard. They just You easy off so that they don't shovel them too fast. Yeah. Like when you're going through a gate, like just easy. And then they back off. Next time we move cows, you guys should yeah, like or get invited. Okay, so yeah, what are the commands got? Way, buy, ⁓ off. That'll do. Move up that'll do. Bite ⁓ That'll do bite ⁓ Bite ⁓ Bite ⁓ Yeah, bite ⁓ Bite ⁓ That means they're not When there's well there when there's like one veering off, then you say bite ⁓ and then they just like whe go and get it back. Or put ⁓ in. Yeah. Ours do put ⁓ in. And then they'll go around and grab the cows. So like when they hit the bush, you can just be like, put ⁓ bring ⁓ back. Hm. And they just go around. Yeah. Chase ⁓ right back to where you're standing. Yep. So the dogs are just like the other day I went out. We love ⁓ The cows got because the ⁓ black horned cow got out. Mm-hmm. I was standing at the electric fence, I shut it off. I was like, Jaeger, bring ⁓ back. And he just the whole way around pushed him straight back where I was. Like Jorim will literally. Put up electric fence, turn it back on and done. You just like walk through the field and you tell your dog to put him back or do whatever command. And then your dog just does all the work and then you just stand their fence. Put the fence back up and away happens. Do they help you sort them out or you gotta sort them? They can they can help, but it depends what you're doing. Like when we move to a field, we hold them up and then let them go leave in pairs so that we don't have babies coming back at us. ⁓ so they help hold ⁓ Yeah. So do you say hold ⁓ Yeah. And then they just like circle around. ⁓ And keep ⁓ in. And then David'll pull off who needs pairs. Right. And get behind. And send them out. That's the other command too. Get behind. Wha which means you've overdone your No, it just means it just means you're not needed. Stay behind me. Yeah. Which is what I'll use like if we go for a walk and the dogs are with me, then I tell them like if a car is coming, then I say get behind and they just both of them just come right behind me. Yeah. And So did Jorim and David train their own dogs then? Yeah. It does help if you have like if you've like worked with somebody who's done that before. Yeah, and if your dog actually has instincts and then you let them use the instincts, because David's always like, If you if you want a good dog and you want it to be able to get you out of a wreck, it also will put you into a wreck. Yes. Right. ⁓ yeah. Dogs have definitely caused wrecks. ⁓ if it doesn't get you into a wreck, it's never gonna get you out of a wreck. Right, so sometimes it's gotta cause some havoc in order to get you out of some havoc. Or like when their first puppies in learning, you gotta let them like, you know what? They have to figure it out. They they're we're magnetized. You're screaming at ⁓ and Or they lay in the middle of the gate. And you're like, Come on, man, move. Yeah. That's what that's like one of our our youngest male like Kangle. He has no awareness. He's so curious. Yeah. But he wants to like hang out with the cows. There will be times you'll try to like get them somewhere. And he's just doo do do do do like in the way. And you're ⁓ go away. But the one thing with those Kangles I will say, like, your dog sound like you can like discipline him and they take it to like ⁓ Yeah, you tell no once. They're offended. They they don't do that. Yeah, they don't do it because they're so like if Jorim gets mad at the only thing that I had to tell them more than once was whiskey and the garbage. she loved the garbage. yeah. ⁓ She dragged the garbage a bag apart. Yeah. ⁓ yeah, that's a hard habit to break to. No, like those Kangles, like you can discipline them, quote unquote, and be like, you know, like they've ended up there's once they they ended up or no, there's been a couple of times they've ended up with the neighbors follow following a trail, but like, you know, too far. Yeah. You could discipline ⁓ They don't they just roll over and they're like, You love me. No, not even that. Like they'll they submit. They'll submit, they'll load up in the truck. And then they'll do it again. Yeah, like they like you know how some dogs like you can give treats and be like, good job. Like we try and Yeah. Those dogs who care less. Yeah. They're it's not the same. Like they don't need your approval or your praise. Yeah. Whereas kelpies are very or at least ours are very Yeah. Like if you're disappointed in them. They know. They know. They totally and they do whatever to make you happy. Yeah. Yeah. Or they pout. Yeah. Yeah. ⁓ that's funny. But we love them. They're so good and they're if both of ours are out and about, then they will run off. we can't have both out? ⁓ I can't. or the other? One or the other. They don't leave if it's one or the other. If they're both out then they'll leave like Kip never left your yard. No, no, no. He never did. Yeah, it was And then we got Diego and then It might change a little bit the older he gets. Yeah. And the more he goes to work. They definitely need a job. The thing is we've had a couple people take ⁓ and they're not working homes. Mm-hmm. And they are bored. Yeah. And those dogs play fetch like you would not believe. Yeah. Like one of them wore out a ball thrower. But like the ball thrower was but that wasn't fast enough for him. So then he'd also like the grandpa would fetch. And the ball thrower and so between the two of them he could keep he could keep his balls together. But like if it's just one or the other, he's he can predict where the ball's gonna land and then he's there and waiting and searching before the ball gets there. Whereas my dogs don't play fetch. No. They will not. We took my sister's dog because he was in town and the neighbors weren't happy with him. And like, yeah. He that he fetches. Like fierce. ⁓ yeah, like and he's aggressive with his stick. And like trying to push Ready? Are you ready? Are you ready? Let's go. Let's Yep. Moodog has his bad habit. I don't know where she got this. I don't know. She'll put her the ball between your legs. ⁓ So like for example, when we had like the Mennonites here helping us with the shop. Like with the shop build and whatnot. Or like prepping the pad. Was it? I don't know. Anyways, they're here for something and Moodog's just like they're not dog people, like ⁓ this one wasn't. She's just like pops it between his legs. Sorry. So she's bad for that. Those but those Kangles, they don't really I think working dogs don't. Cause yeah, David was like, he's bored. Yeah. Like they need a job. They need something to activate their brain. So when there's no cows, yeah. Like our dogs couldn't care less about a stick. ⁓ yeah. Like you could not teach them to play fetch. They're not bored. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We've never I've tried and they don't care. Yeah, they don't care. Yeah. That's but because they lived in town, they needed something to chase, something to do. Yeah, apparently fetches it. That's funny. Well, we love our dogs and our chickens and our chickens and all our critters. Yeah. All right.
