  Speaker 1: one shot stories about the past and the future that

  Speaker 1: I think would be interesting to talk about here and

  Speaker 1: you know, read through like you know, like we do,

  Speaker 1: except with like a book instead of like a TV thing.

  Speaker 1: So I was thinking of doing probably four of these

  Speaker 1: one shots for the next four episodes after the end

  Speaker 1: of the anime. I guess we'd of course do them

  Speaker 1: in order, so we would do Angelize, then Garden of Light,

  Speaker 1: and then fucking Private Opinion and maybe another one. But

  Speaker 1: very actiony and I don't think I have that much

  Speaker 1: to say about it, but we'll see. Who really knows anyway.

  Speaker 1: Episode twenty is called The Unvanquished, which is also a
• 3:24
  Speaker 1: novel by William Faulkner that has nothing to do at
• 3:28
  Speaker 1: all with Banana Fish. But I kind of like the
• 3:31
  Speaker 1: title for this episode and you'll see why probably or
• 3:35
  Speaker 1: you won't. We don't really know. So anyway, if you remember,
• 3:39
  Speaker 1: at the very end of the last episode, we left
• 3:41
  Speaker 1: with dead eyed Ash getting ready to go to this
• 3:46
  Speaker 1: big party where you was going to announce that he's
• 3:50
  Speaker 1: adopting him, which is just terrible. So we start a
• 3:53
  Speaker 1: little bit ahead of that, but not by much. So
• 3:58
  Speaker 1: we open on like a lot of people standing in
• 4:00
  Speaker 1: a large like banquet room, maybe wearing formal attire, and
• 4:05
  Speaker 1: Blanca and ue Lung are standing together. New A Lung
• 4:09
  Speaker 1: is wearing a white either key pow or she pow.
• 4:13
  Speaker 1: I'm not sure how to pronounce that, with pink roses
• 4:16
  Speaker 1: on it. It's like a traditional Shinese dress. He looks
• 4:20
  Speaker 1: like really really nice, by the way, and he's got
• 4:23
  Speaker 1: these like two braids, almost like pigtail braids, they kind
• 4:27
  Speaker 1: of like long braids, but then he has the kind
• 4:29
  Speaker 1: of like looped up again. He just looks really good.

  Speaker 1: In my opinion, I think he always looks good though,
• 4:37
  Speaker 1: regardless of what gendered attire he's wearing. Anyway, Blanca is
• 4:42
  Speaker 1: wearing a suit, obviously, and he says, great party. New
• 4:46
  Speaker 1: A Lung's like it's quite a distinguished crowd as well.
• 4:49
  Speaker 1: Lots of big shop politicians and moguls. The Corsican Foundation
• 4:53
  Speaker 1: is trying to become America's next Jewish community. What neither
• 4:57
  Speaker 1: nuclear power nor ideology runs the world. It's money, that's

  Speaker 1: what they're trying to prove. I mean, okay, but you
• 5:04
  Speaker 1: could just leave us out. Of that, okay please. Then

  Speaker 1: there's like clapping, like a lot of clapping, and we
• 5:10
  Speaker 1: hear someone say congratulations. Moseur. Blanca and Yue Lung look

  Speaker 1: over and we see the Dino is entering the room
• 5:18
  Speaker 1: to applause, and Gregory Ash and a dude who's wheeling
• 5:23
  Speaker 1: Ash's wheelchair are also with him. Yeah, I guess, Dino
• 5:28
  Speaker 1: says thank you, Blanca and ue Lung like walked towards him,
• 5:32
  Speaker 1: and Uelong says congratulations, Monscheur. Dino's like, why welcome, mister
• 5:37
  Speaker 1: yue Lung. I'm glad to see you came. Blanca is
• 5:40
  Speaker 1: smiling until he looks down at Ash and realizes that
• 5:43
  Speaker 1: he is like zero light in his eyes. He's like
• 5:46
  Speaker 1: kind of looking down on a way and he's like definitely,
• 5:49
  Speaker 1: definitely not okay. Ue Lung says, hey, Ash, how are
• 5:53
  Speaker 1: you feeling? Oh, I don't know he's feeling great. Ash
• 5:57
  Speaker 1: looks up blankly, but he doesn't say anything and point
• 6:00
  Speaker 1: Blanca gasps because something is clearly wrong. Yuei Lung holds
• 6:05
  Speaker 1: out a glass of champagne. I guess that he'd been
• 6:07
  Speaker 1: carrying towards Ash and says, here, have some champagne. And
• 6:11
  Speaker 1: Ash just knocks it out of his hand and the
• 6:13
  Speaker 1: glass shatters on the floor. Yes, fucking Ash is amazing,
• 6:17
  Speaker 1: but he's also maybe having a panic attack. He's hyperventilating
• 6:21
  Speaker 1: and he's sweating, and he still doesn't say anything. Yuei
• 6:25
  Speaker 1: Lung is caught off guard, obviously, but smirks and says,
• 6:29
  Speaker 1: how frightening. He seems nervous. Blanka honestly does not look amused,
• 6:36
  Speaker 1: like maybe finally he's done with this shit, but he
• 6:42
  Speaker 1: doesn't say anything. Dino says, you'll have to excuse his behavior.
• 6:48
  Speaker 1: He can't see, so he's a bit worked up. Although
• 6:51
  Speaker 1: he's weakened, he's still a wild beast, so I had
• 6:55
  Speaker 1: to temporarily blind him just in case. Blanka kind of
• 6:59
  Speaker 1: pauses and then he smiles and he says, shall I
• 7:02
  Speaker 1: push him? Okay, that's the end of the scene, so
• 7:04
  Speaker 1: real quickly, seriously, you're just gonna fucking talk to him
• 7:08
  Speaker 1: like he's not there, Like I know, he is basically
• 7:11
  Speaker 1: kind of sort of desponded except for like knocking the
• 7:14
  Speaker 1: champagne out of Yue Lung's hand, But like he's a person,
• 7:19
  Speaker 1: He's not a wild beast. He's a fucking person and
• 7:22
  Speaker 1: he can hear you and fucking treat him like with
• 7:25
  Speaker 1: any sort of you know, tiny bit of respect. Please please,
• 7:30
  Speaker 1: it's bad enough as it is. We got to Age,
• 7:34
  Speaker 1: who is looking in a mirror and he's like trying
• 7:36
  Speaker 1: to slick back part of his hair and he says,
• 7:40
  Speaker 1: do I look a little different? Bones, who is there, says,
• 7:44
  Speaker 1: you don't look like a preteen if that's what you mean.
• 7:47
  Speaker 1: He's like, damn. We see that they're both in some
• 7:50
  Speaker 1: sort of kind of locker room and they're wearing suits.
• 7:54
  Speaker 1: Bones holds a gun out Agy and says, don't be
• 7:57
  Speaker 1: scared to shoot. Okay, you're gonna die out there. Agy,
• 8:00
  Speaker 1: looking pretty intense, says I know. And then we go
• 8:03
  Speaker 1: to the opening. Yeah, back to the party. Agy is
• 8:08
  Speaker 1: wearing glasses and his suit is like a little waiter's suit,
• 8:11
  Speaker 1: I guess, and he's just walking around and to some
• 8:14
  Speaker 1: lady he goes like, would you like a drink? And
• 8:16
  Speaker 1: the lady's like, thank you. Ag looks over and he
• 8:19
  Speaker 1: sees goalzing and everybody in ash in a wheelchair and
• 8:22
  Speaker 1: he thinks, why is he in a wheelchair? And then
• 8:25
  Speaker 1: he catches sight of Yuey Lung and He's like, oh, no,
• 8:28
  Speaker 1: he's here too, because obviously he'd recognize him. Oo. I mean,
• 8:32
  Speaker 1: he's just wearing glasses. I'm sure anyone would recognize him.
• 8:37
  Speaker 1: At this point. I guess Blanca notices that he's being
• 8:39
  Speaker 1: looked at, because he looks up suddenly and he sees
• 8:42
  Speaker 1: Agy walking off. He kind of sighs. And remember he's
• 8:45
  Speaker 1: standing directly behind Ash because he's been the one pushing
• 8:48
  Speaker 1: him around, and he says, Ash, have you been keeping
• 8:52
  Speaker 1: your claws and fangs nice and sharp? Oh? Fuck? He
• 8:56
  Speaker 1: leans over and into Ash's ear says, signed a contract
• 9:00
  Speaker 1: with mister ue Long. At this the light returns to
• 9:04
  Speaker 1: Ash's eyes, thank god, and he just kind of looks
• 9:07
  Speaker 1: off at Blanc and Shock. We cut to like some
• 9:11
  Speaker 1: sort of dark hallway, maybe like a maintenance hallway or something,
• 9:15
  Speaker 1: where Kin is with like three of his guys, and
• 9:17
  Speaker 1: Kane points to the service elevator and he's like, this way,
• 9:21
  Speaker 1: sing and some of his guys are also there, wearing
• 9:23
  Speaker 1: scarves over their faces, and they have guns obviously, and
• 9:25
  Speaker 1: Singh says, let's go. We cut back to the party
• 9:30
  Speaker 1: and Agy is reaching into his waistband where he has
• 9:34
  Speaker 1: a gun, which is pretty exposed actually, but that's okay.
• 9:38
  Speaker 1: He has like a really determined look on his face
• 9:40
  Speaker 1: and he thinks, Ash, I'll set you free. At this point,
• 9:45
  Speaker 1: Sing and three other gang members burst in the doors
• 9:48
  Speaker 1: and they just start shooting. Shit, we probably don't want
• 9:52
  Speaker 1: to kill these people, but then again they're probably bad people,
• 9:54
  Speaker 1: so whatever. And there's like screaming and people are running
• 9:57
  Speaker 1: around and stuff, and blunk Up pulls you along behind
• 10:00
  Speaker 1: the wall and he's like, get down, you need to
• 10:02
  Speaker 1: follow my orders. Ag pulls a gun from his waistband
• 10:06
  Speaker 1: and he says freeze and he raises the gun at
• 10:08
  Speaker 1: golzin Golezine is surprised, and so is Ash, and Ash
• 10:12
  Speaker 1: thinks that voice and then out loud, he says ag yeay.
• 10:17
  Speaker 1: He knows what Ag sounds like, not that he wouldn't,
• 10:19
  Speaker 1: but it's still really cute. AG's like move and I'll shoot.
• 10:24
  Speaker 1: Bones is now protecting Ag. He is back to back
• 10:28
  Speaker 1: with him holding his gun out in the other directions
• 10:30
  Speaker 1: so no one gets close to him, and Yueilung, looking on, says,
• 10:34
  Speaker 1: damn it, Blanca kill Ag o Kimura. Blanca is like,
• 10:38
  Speaker 1: I can't do that, Yuelung gasps. Blanc is like my
• 10:41
  Speaker 1: job is to protect you. So unless he's about urt you,
• 10:44
  Speaker 1: what he's doing is irrelevant. Yeah, ue Lung looks pissed,
• 10:49
  Speaker 1: and he tries to go off on his own, but
• 10:51
  Speaker 1: Blanca grabs him by those looped breeze and pulls him back,
• 10:55
  Speaker 1: and he's like, oh, no, where are you going, sir?
• 10:58
  Speaker 1: Yue Lung's like, let me go, and Blanca covers his
• 11:01
  Speaker 1: mouth and it's like, it's my job to keep you safe.
• 11:04
  Speaker 1: You must listen to me, or a you're gonna get
• 11:05
  Speaker 1: yourself killed. Fucking Blanca, it's just frocking it. Now we
• 11:10
  Speaker 1: see from Ash's perspective what's going on, which is just
• 11:13
  Speaker 1: a blur basically with some colors. There's like a white
• 11:17
  Speaker 1: thing with like a head with like some black, which
• 11:20
  Speaker 1: is AG obviously, and Ash thinks, AG, how could you
• 11:24
  Speaker 1: be so reckless? He's like kind of panicking too, and
• 11:27
  Speaker 1: he thinks, fuck, if only I could see. And then
• 11:31
  Speaker 1: Dino fucking holds a knife to Ash's throats and he's like,
• 11:35
  Speaker 1: are you that good of a shot? AG gasps, Bones
• 11:39
  Speaker 1: is like shoot him. He's just bluffing. AG doesn't shoot.
• 11:42
  Speaker 1: He looks real fucking scared. At this point, some dude
• 11:45
  Speaker 1: emerges from like behind a table and he's got a
• 11:48
  Speaker 1: gun and he's like gonna shoot Ag, but then Sing
• 11:50
  Speaker 1: takes him out. And this commotion of Sing taking out
• 11:54
  Speaker 1: the guy allows Ash to elbow Dino in the throat,
• 11:57
  Speaker 1: and Sing is like shoot him, ag n He looks
• 12:00
  Speaker 1: like Sing and Age shoots, but he kind of like
• 12:03
  Speaker 1: flinches as he does it because he's not really good
• 12:05
  Speaker 1: at this. And he fucking gets Dino in the right shoulder. Yes,
• 12:09
  Speaker 1: kind of I wish he killed him, but it didn't work,
• 12:12
  Speaker 1: but he got him a little bit, and Sing is like,
• 12:15
  Speaker 1: how do you miss it that range? And then to
• 12:17
  Speaker 1: his crew, he's like shoot the place up. Fuck. So
• 12:20
  Speaker 1: much is going on. So there's a commotion now, really
• 12:24
  Speaker 1: big commotion, because for a minute there it was almost
• 12:26
  Speaker 1: like a hostage situation. But now folks are like running
• 12:28
  Speaker 1: around and stuff. And while all of this is happening,
• 12:31
  Speaker 1: Ag is helping Ash walk out of the room with
• 12:35
  Speaker 1: bones in tow, and Kane from the hall is like, Age,
• 12:38
  Speaker 1: this way, hurry. Some guy comes from like behind a
• 12:42
  Speaker 1: column and like tries to aim at them, but Ash
• 12:45
  Speaker 1: hears him and he grabs AG's gun and he just
• 12:47
  Speaker 1: shoots the guy dead. Yeay. Kane is like, damn Ash,
• 12:52
  Speaker 1: and Ash says I just heard the gun being cocked.
• 12:55
  Speaker 1: Kane says, geez, I'm sure as hell wouldn't want to
• 12:58
  Speaker 1: be your enemy. Sing is shooting and he's like, all right, everyone,
• 13:02
  Speaker 1: let's go, and him and his gang start to run
• 13:04
  Speaker 1: out too. Dino is on the floor holding his shoulder
• 13:08
  Speaker 1: as Gregor RelA tries to help him, and he's like,
• 13:10
  Speaker 1: don't worry about me, go after them, bring Ash back alive.
• 13:14
  Speaker 1: Ue Lung, who is now standing near Dino, says, Mosure,
• 13:17
  Speaker 1: some of the assailants were my subordinates. He like looks
• 13:20
  Speaker 1: down because he's pretty upset and probably very angry and
• 13:24
  Speaker 1: hurt by saying even though Saying warned him, and he says,
• 13:28
  Speaker 1: I cannot apologize enough. Dino, to his credit, is like,
• 13:32
  Speaker 1: it's impossible to control every last one of your men.
• 13:35
  Speaker 1: Don't worry. I don't doubt our friendship, which is pretty sweet,
• 13:39
  Speaker 1: and ue Lung is like, I'm grateful. I guess it's
• 13:42
  Speaker 1: a little bit later now because the room is basically
• 13:45
  Speaker 1: cleared out and ue Lung and Blanca are standing in
• 13:48
  Speaker 1: the kind of wrecked up hall. Blanca says let's leave
• 13:52
  Speaker 1: before the police and media get here. Ue Lung is like,
• 13:55
  Speaker 1: I understand, now, you let me hire you so you
• 13:58
  Speaker 1: could help Ash on the pretense of helping me. Uh,
• 14:02
  Speaker 1: I think so. Actually, Blanca just kind of smiles really politely,
• 14:07
  Speaker 1: and he says, shall we nullify our contract? And Ulan's like, no,
• 14:12
  Speaker 1: You're gonna help me catch Ash and exterminate the backstabbers.
• 14:15
  Speaker 1: You can't say no, Blanca. Blanca, keeping a very straight face,
• 14:19
  Speaker 1: just says, as you wish. We cut to some dudes
• 14:23
  Speaker 1: who are like running outside. It's kind of night, I guess,
• 14:26
  Speaker 1: and they're like near a parking garage and we see
• 14:29
  Speaker 1: a truck driving away and one of the guys is
• 14:32
  Speaker 1: like there they are after them, and some cars like
• 14:35
  Speaker 1: go after the truck, and then they like run past
• 14:39
  Speaker 1: a manhole. Oh, the gang is inside the manhole, yay,
• 14:43
  Speaker 1: saying who is at the top of the ladder in
• 14:45
  Speaker 1: the manhole says good, And then we cut to Black.
• 14:50
  Speaker 1: We have a relatively close shot of Ash and he's
• 14:52
  Speaker 1: laying down asleep and I don't really know where this is.
• 14:56
  Speaker 1: It's kind of dark. He opens his eyes and we
• 15:00
  Speaker 1: see that they're in an abandoned subway car, which is
• 15:02
  Speaker 1: pretty cool, Like the windows are all busted out and
• 15:05
  Speaker 1: it's super heavily graffitied and it's just kind of like
• 15:08
  Speaker 1: dark and dirty, exactly what I'd want to wake up to.
• 15:11
  Speaker 1: And I'm not even kidding. Ag is leaning over Ash,
• 15:15
  Speaker 1: and Cain Sing and Lou were there too, but not
• 15:19
  Speaker 1: leaning over Ash, and Ag says, are you okay? Ashes? Like?
• 15:24
  Speaker 1: Where am I? Sing says in a shutdown subway station.
• 15:28
  Speaker 1: Ash sits up and Age's kind of like trying to
• 15:31
  Speaker 1: help him, and he says subway. He puts his hand
• 15:35
  Speaker 1: on his face and he just looks like he's in pain.
• 15:39
  Speaker 1: AG has his hand like on Ash's back, and he says,
• 15:43
  Speaker 1: did they blind you? Ash is like yeah, but it's
• 15:47
  Speaker 1: only temporary anyways. We can't stay here. It's too dangerous.
• 15:50
  Speaker 1: We need to leave. Sing is like, take it easy.
• 15:53
  Speaker 1: We specifically prepared this spot because it's the safest, so
• 15:57
  Speaker 1: you got to rest up first. Looks really not good, honestly,
• 16:04
  Speaker 1: and he just kind of exhales at this, and AG's like, yeah,
• 16:10
  Speaker 1: you should get changed and have something to eat. He's
• 16:13
  Speaker 1: just like looking Ash with a lot of loving concern,
• 16:17
  Speaker 1: and he says, can you walk, Ashes like yeah. Ag
• 16:23
  Speaker 1: leads Ash out of the subway car and they stop
• 16:26
  Speaker 1: for a second and Ash says, sing, Kane, thank you
• 16:30
  Speaker 1: for saving me. And then I guess they continue to
• 16:33
  Speaker 1: walk out and Sing kind of chuckles and he's like,
• 16:35
  Speaker 1: I never seen him like that before. Kane is like,
• 16:39
  Speaker 1: gives me the creep seeing him so submissive. He walks
• 16:42
  Speaker 1: out of the subway car as well. Singh looks over
• 16:45
  Speaker 1: at Lao, who is standing with his arms crossed a
• 16:48
  Speaker 1: little ways over, and he says, sorry, Lao, I've dragged
• 16:52
  Speaker 1: you into deep to turn back. Lao's like, nah, we're
• 16:56
  Speaker 1: all angry about the way the top's been dealing with everything,
• 16:59
  Speaker 1: But what I don't get is what's up with you?
• 17:03
  Speaker 1: Why are you so supportive of Ashlyns. Sag says he's
• 17:08
  Speaker 1: the only one who can manage all of downtown. Lao's like,
• 17:11
  Speaker 1: are you serious? He killed Shorter to get his hands
• 17:14
  Speaker 1: on Downtown. Why him? What about you? Sing Singh turns
• 17:18
  Speaker 1: and shoves Lao against the wall and now we're kind
• 17:20
  Speaker 1: of watching the shot through the other side of the
• 17:22
  Speaker 1: broken window, and he says, look, Lao, he's the only
• 17:26
  Speaker 1: one that can keep Downtown together. Without him, there will
• 17:29
  Speaker 1: just be another Arthur to take his place, and we'll
• 17:31
  Speaker 1: go back to relentless senseless killings. So I've made up
• 17:34
  Speaker 1: my mind. Okay, if you disagree, you can leave. Lao
• 17:38
  Speaker 1: does not look happy, but he's just like, fine, you're
• 17:42
  Speaker 1: the boss. We cut to a cauldron like pot with
• 17:47
  Speaker 1: white liquid in it, cooking over a fire, and next
• 17:51
  Speaker 1: to it is an opened can of clam chowder. So
• 17:54
  Speaker 1: I guess that's what's in the cauldron. Oh, by the way,
• 17:57
  Speaker 1: it is white again, and since it's that's white, we
• 18:00
  Speaker 1: know that it is New England clam chowder, which is
• 18:02
  Speaker 1: honestly pretty considerate, considering that Ash is from Massachusetts, so
• 18:10
  Speaker 1: this would be like his native clam chowder. So maybe
• 18:12
