- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Up next
- 0:07Speaker 2: Kicking off your day in the best way.
- 0:09Speaker 2: It's Sonia and Joakim on the shock circuit. Good morning.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Thank you so much for joining us on a public holiday.
- 0:15Speaker 2: It's May Day.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Whatever
- 0:17Speaker 1: reason you're awake,
- 0:18Speaker 2: I wonder why. Or maybe people haven't gone to sleep yet.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Please sleep in and from the parties last night, maybe. Anyway,
- 0:24Speaker 2: happy long weekend. Stay tuned to more for you next.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 0:32Speaker 2: OK. In theory, if we could have enjoyed a public
- 0:36Speaker 2: holiday and a long weekend, what would you be doing today?
- 0:40Speaker 2: Aside from sleeping, aside from sleeping, aside from running and sleeping.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Oh damn
- 0:44Speaker 2: it.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Because actually I was gonna say, I know it's a
- 0:48Speaker 1: public holiday, right? So I might have actually slept earlier
- 0:51Speaker 1: the night before.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Maybe wake up at 5:30 and go for a sunrise
- 0:56Speaker 1: jog at the Punggol coast area, get a nice view,
- 0:59Speaker 1: go home and then sleep the entire
- 1:01Speaker 1: day
- 1:01Speaker 2: away. Oh, OK. That's the thing, I can't do that.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Like I can't sleep in the daytime. It's, it's a
- 1:06Speaker 2: challenge for me, so.
- 1:08Speaker 2: I don't know. Sometimes I end up like accidentally staying
- 1:11Speaker 2: out too late the night before accidentally, yeah, then I
- 1:15Speaker 2: ruin my next morning. Yes, it is an accident. Sometimes
- 1:19Speaker 2: not intentional. You just go and then suddenly you and
- 1:23Speaker 2: your friends got the feels to go like dance or something.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Then the rest is history, too late. Well, if you
- 1:29Speaker 2: are still awake right now and you're just going home
- 1:31Speaker 2: or going back from supper, I'm sure there's going to
- 1:33Speaker 2: be people out there doing that.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Sounds
- 1:35Speaker 1: good.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. Welcome to the month of May.
- 1:38Speaker 1: And also happy Labor Day to
- 1:40Speaker 1: you.
- 1:41Speaker 2: You should not be tuning in right now. You should
- 1:43Speaker 2: be asleep.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Or if you are, thank you for having us in
- 1:47Speaker 1: the background.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Actually, unless you're that, as I was, as I was
- 1:50Speaker 2: driving into work this morning, um, there was a bunch
- 1:54Speaker 2: of like cyclists, like road cyclists, right? So at the,
- 1:57Speaker 2: at the traffic lights, there was one group and the
- 2:00Speaker 2: group just didn't stop.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Like there was more and more and more people that
- 2:03Speaker 2: cycled past. I think I counted like almost 50 cyclists.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Yeah, they usually go for very early
- 2:10Speaker 2: early because it's
- 2:10Speaker 1: peak hour starts in Singapore, even on public holidays as well.
- 2:14Speaker 1: So if you're a shift worker, if you're working in
- 2:16Speaker 1: the medical industry and all that, we say thank you
- 2:18Speaker 1: for doing what you do. You got us for company
- 2:20Speaker 1: here on the circuit. When we come back though, Sonia,
- 2:24Speaker 1: something to celebrate about here in Singapore, which is a film.
- 2:28Speaker 1: is taking part in the top international animation festival.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I actually know which one this is.
- 2:36Speaker 1: A very proud moment for us here in Singapore, especially
- 2:39Speaker 1: if you love films and not uh real-life films or
- 2:44Speaker 1: live action remakes or whatsoever, no, animated films and there
- 2:49Speaker 1: is one that is locally produced, by the way, by
- 2:52Speaker 1: director Irvin Han and Spaniard Raul Garcia.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Who has worked on things like Beauty and the Beast
- 3:01Speaker 1: and The Lion King. Yes, so I, I believe the, uh,
- 3:04Speaker 1: both of them collaborated to release an animated film called
- 3:08Speaker 1: The Violinist, and it's been nominated for a very prestigious
- 3:13Speaker 1: international animation festival known as the NSC Film Festival.
- 3:18Speaker 1: And it's the first Singapore-produced animated film to do so. Congratulations.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I mean, um, doing some research about it. It's like
- 3:26Speaker 2: the pinnacle of the animation, right? So, you know, people
- 3:29Speaker 2: go for like the Cannes Festival. This is like the
- 3:32Speaker 2: animated version.
- 3:33Speaker 1: So
- 3:34Speaker 1: this animated film is set in Malaysia and Singapore in
- 3:36Speaker 1: the year 1941.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I dare say at the height of World War II,
- 3:42Speaker 2: and it follows two childhood friends bound for their love
- 3:45Speaker 2: for music. So very cute and I think um something
- 3:49Speaker 2: quite refreshing as well coming out of Singapore. Yeah,
- 3:51Speaker 1: if I'm not wrong, the likes of Tang Hua, Adrian Pang,
- 3:56Speaker 1: Fang and Aiden, the actors and the actresses.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Love it, love it for them. So I'm very excited,
- 4:02Speaker 2: especially for the makers of the film too.
- 4:04Speaker 2: So all the best. Coming up in just a few minutes,
- 4:08Speaker 2: imitation often is um the best form of flattery, as
- 4:12Speaker 2: we always say, right?
- 4:14Speaker 1: Who copied
- 4:14Speaker 1: Singapore's the right now?
- 4:16Speaker 2: I
- 4:17Speaker 2: think there were quite a few attempts to sort of
- 4:19Speaker 2: open inverted commas, copy our designs like MBS I believe
- 4:23Speaker 2: some other country, I can't remember which country has their
- 4:26Speaker 2: own MBS, their own Raffles City, something like that.
- 4:30Speaker 1: And if I'm not wrong, somewhere in the Middle East
- 4:33Speaker 1: or was it China, they tried to do something like
- 4:37Speaker 1: Jewel Changi.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Oh, the vortex, right? Yes, yes, yes. Speaking of which,
- 4:41Speaker 2: did you see that viral post of someone complaining why
- 4:43Speaker 2: the vortex was closed, and all the Singaporeans are like, aiya,
- 4:47Speaker 2: don't come and visit la. I know, I didn't even
- 4:50Speaker 2: see the opening hours. OK, as you know, um, we've
- 4:53Speaker 2: got a very well-loved supermarket here in Singapore. When I
- 4:57Speaker 2: say that, which one are you thinking of?
- 4:59Speaker 1: You say well-loved. I mean, only because we've spoken about
- 5:02Speaker 1: this and we use the same two words for it.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Sheng Xiong,
- 5:06Speaker 2: yes, you're right. All for you, yeah. OK, well, that's
- 5:09Speaker 2: not to say other supermarkets aren't good, but I think
- 5:12Speaker 2: it was just because they've been making the news quite
- 5:14Speaker 2: a bit, right, in the recent months or so. And
- 5:17Speaker 2: since COVID, you know, they won a lot of praise. Um, you,
- 5:20Speaker 2: you recognize the Sheng xiong logo, right? You would be
- 5:24Speaker 2: able to recognize it from a mile away, the green
- 5:26Speaker 2: and blue with the Chinese word.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Which says what actually is it sour or something.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Never mind. Anyway, there's a mini mart over in Geylang
- 5:38Speaker 2: that has drawn some attention, OK, for looking exactly like
- 5:43Speaker 2: the Sheng Siong supermarket logo, and people are just amused.
- 5:47Speaker 2: It's the same, same but different kind of situation over at, uh,
- 5:51Speaker 2: Lorong 22 Geylang. It's called Huishunng Supermarket, and it's a
- 5:56Speaker 2: little mini mart situation, but it looks almost exactly the same.
- 6:01Speaker 2: The owner of the supermarket has responded and said, I
- 6:04Speaker 2: designed a logo after my own name. There's no infringement issue.
- 6:08Speaker 2: It's a completely different concept. And yeah, yeah, that's what
- 6:11Speaker 2: he said. But I don't know who was the one
- 6:13Speaker 2: that went and took the picture of that minimart and
- 6:15Speaker 2: then put it side by side with Sheng Chong and
- 6:16Speaker 2: posted it up online. So, yeah, um, he's, he's defending
- 6:20Speaker 2: his logo right now, to which I said, you know, valid.
- 6:23Speaker 2: It's just his, I think he's inspired by his name,
- 6:26Speaker 2: but the color scheme a bit similar lah.
- 6:30Speaker 2: The details a bit similar also.
- 6:32Speaker 1: OK, so to, um, talk about the Sheng xiong logo, yeah, we,
- 6:38Speaker 1: when we speak in English, we, we call it Shengxiong, right? Yeah,
- 6:41Speaker 1: but actually, if I'm not wrong, I think it's pronounced
- 6:44Speaker 1: in Mandarin Sheng hong,
- 6:47Speaker 2: Shengshong, yeah,
- 6:48Speaker 1: if I'm not wrong,
- 6:48Speaker 2: OK, but the logo is the word, right. It's not zao, yeah,
- 6:53Speaker 2: it's not 00
- 6:55Speaker 1: Sheng is rising, so I think the word is sheng. Oh,
- 6:57Speaker 1: the word is
- 6:58Speaker 2: sheng.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Yes, again, proving that you're the worst Chinese friend I have.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Can you,
- 7:02Speaker 2: can you, you didn't even give me a chance. I mean,
- 7:04Speaker 2: what if
- 7:05Speaker 1: it's abstract?
- 7:06Speaker 2: No, it could be abstract the way that he wrote it.
- 7:09Speaker 1: And by
- 7:09Speaker 1: the way, Tao isn't written like that. Oh, it has
- 7:12Speaker 1: more characters than Tao. Oh, how come this one I know? Hello.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Wait, let me see how, how is Tao? The root
- 7:20Speaker 1: and then the shi below.
- 7:24Speaker 2: We,
- 7:25Speaker 1: we are actually doing this. There's a root in the below,
- 7:29Speaker 2: right? I it comes out as the
- 7:30Speaker 1: country. Never mind.
- 7:32Speaker 1: It's OK. You know how Singapore, we are a clean
- 7:35Speaker 1: and green city, and I think we're an inspiration to
- 7:39Speaker 1: many countries worldwide. Maybe even our friends across the causeway
- 7:42Speaker 1: as well, Malaysia. They probably have seen us and go, OK,
- 7:46Speaker 1: you know what, we want to keep Malaysia clean as well.
- 7:50Speaker 1: So I think it was sometime this year where they said, OK,
- 7:53Speaker 1: if you litter Malaysia, you'll be in trouble whether you're
- 7:55Speaker 1: Malaysian or any other citizen from around the world. Uh,
- 8:00Speaker 1: unfortunately over in Johor Bahru.
- 8:05Speaker 1: The first ever littering, you know, those corrective work order
- 8:08Speaker 1: situations
- 8:09Speaker 2: where you wear the luminous vest, yeah, OK,
- 8:12Speaker 1: it had to be, you know, two Singaporeans involved in
- 8:15Speaker 1: this one for the first corrective work order but Malaysian
- 8:19Speaker 1: version in Johor Bahru.
- 8:21Speaker 1: And their crime, inverted commas, was throwing cigarette butts
- 8:26Speaker 2: and they were caught onto the floor instead of the
- 8:27Speaker 1: trash bin, and this happened around KSL city, a mall
- 8:31Speaker 1: that's very familiar to popular and familiar to Singaporeans here.
- 8:37Speaker 2: So how, what kind of hours do they have to
- 8:39Speaker 2: clock in? It was documented,
- 8:42Speaker 1: but you know lah, whenever something happens to a Singaporean
- 8:46Speaker 1: across the causeway, our friends would love to make an
- 8:49Speaker 1: example of us. So please don't give them a chance
- 8:52Speaker 1: to do them
- 8:52Speaker 2: a
- 8:52Speaker 2: reason.
- 8:54Speaker 2: I mean, you know, with every country that we go to, right,
- 8:59Speaker 2: I'm sure most of us tend to be a bit
- 9:00Speaker 2: more wary of their laws and stuff because as a
- 9:02Speaker 2: foreigner when you go in, you don't want to like
- 9:05Speaker 2: do anything to offend other people in their own country, right?
- 9:08Speaker 1: Yes, so auntie, uncle, brother, sister, if you can do
- 9:11Speaker 1: scroll TikTok, you can simply do a Google search.
- 9:15Speaker 1: On the rules of the country. Actually,
- 9:17Speaker 2: you know what, regardless of the rules, I don't think
- 9:19Speaker 2: we should be tossing things on the ground anyway.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Oh, of course not, no.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Like regardless of how strict the country is, let's just
- 9:24Speaker 2: not do it, you know.
- 9:26Speaker 1: What's the drama?
- 9:26Speaker 2: I got no drama for you. Can you stop it?
- 9:28Speaker 2: Every morning Joim comes in and he's like, Hey, what's
- 9:31Speaker 2: the tea? Any tea for
- 9:32Speaker 2: me?
- 9:32Speaker 1: Yeah, Sonia is my daily dose of.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Sometimes I have a pot of it that's piping hot.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Sometimes it's just a drop, yeah, sometimes it's lukewarm. It's
- 9:42Speaker 1: still tea
- 9:43Speaker 1: nonetheless. So do we have tea for us
- 9:45Speaker 2: tea on air here on
- 9:46Speaker 1: 987 for all of us to tune into.
- 9:48Speaker 2: No tea, but sometimes the tea that we share can't
- 9:51Speaker 2: be spilled on air also, if you know what I mean.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Never mind la podcast.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Airing all your dirty laundry there. Anyway, uh, coming up
- 10:02Speaker 2: in just a few minutes, something going on over in
- 10:05Speaker 2: the Changi Airport area, OK, and it's nothing to do
- 10:08Speaker 2: with Terminal 5. We all know Terminal 5 is ongoing
- 10:11Speaker 2: right now. Can I guess?
- 10:12Speaker 1: They found unexploded World War 2.
- 10:15Speaker 2: No, thankfully not.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Hopefully not, but I'll fill you in in just a
- 10:19Speaker 2: little bit. Hopefully, this keeps Changi Airport at the top
- 10:23Speaker 2: of everyone's minds worldwide. OK. Now, like I mentioned, lots
- 10:27Speaker 2: of things always happening over in Changi Airport and it's
- 10:30Speaker 2: our pride and joy, right? We're very proud of Changi
- 10:32Speaker 2: Airport and um the things they've achieved over the years
- 10:35Speaker 2: as a young nation. Um, Terminal 3 is about to
- 10:39Speaker 2: get a major upgrade ahead of Terminal 5 opening, by
- 10:43Speaker 2: the way. So there's a lot going on.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Um, what's happening is they're introducing more digital technology, more
- 10:49Speaker 2: robotics for self-service check-ins, and toilet cleaning.
- 10:54Speaker 2: This is going to be a test bed for the
- 10:55Speaker 2: upcoming Terminal 5, Jokim.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Wow. And if you're wondering, Terminal 3 officially opened January 9th, 2008.
- 11:04Speaker 1: So it's been a good 18 years.
- 11:06Speaker 2: I think, yeah, they, they're doing an upgrade, although of
- 11:09Speaker 2: course with Changi Airport, as you know, no matter how
- 11:11Speaker 2: old the terminal is, they've maintained it very well. So
- 11:14Speaker 2: you can tell some terminals are older than others, but
- 11:16Speaker 2: they've been small little upgrades. They keep it very clean,
- 11:18Speaker 2: they keep it very polished. Um, so I think.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Between now and Terminal 5 opening, passenger traffic is going
- 11:24Speaker 2: to continue to grow, right, before T5 takes over some
- 11:27Speaker 2: of that load. So, um, I, I think our friends
- 11:30Speaker 2: over at Changi Airport, they just want to make sure
- 11:32Speaker 2: passengers continue to experience the same level of comfort and
- 11:35Speaker 2: service that they're used to, and I think it's pretty
- 11:38Speaker 2: smart that they're going to test out some of these
- 11:39Speaker 2: robotics at T3 first before rolling it out at T5.
- 11:43Speaker 2: And
- 11:43Speaker 1: if anyone's wondering, Terminal 5 slated to open mid-2030.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Yeah, so they are laying the groundwork right now and everything.
- 11:52Speaker 1: So it's kind
- 11:52Speaker 1: of given my mom a bit of motivation. Oh yeah,
- 11:55Speaker 1: because she was saying, oh, should I retire? Should I stop?
- 11:58Speaker 2: How long has she been at Changi Airport?
- 12:00Speaker 1: Very long,
- 12:00Speaker 2: very long, OK, in different
- 12:02Speaker 1: departments. So it was a first-class premium service officer and
- 12:05Speaker 1: then now she's doing it, for example, you're flying to
- 12:08Speaker 1: Korea in the morning, she's on ground making the announcements,
- 12:10Speaker 1: making sure that you get on the plane safely, and
- 12:14Speaker 1: if you're Korean because she speaks the language in Korean.
- 12:16Speaker 2: No wonder I never run into her because she was
- 12:18Speaker 2: in first class, which a long time ago never experienced,
- 12:21Speaker 2: and uh I
- 12:23Speaker 2: don't speak Korean.
- 12:24Speaker 1: So my mom was saying that oh, maybe I want
- 12:25Speaker 1: to retire. Then she read about Terminal 5 and she goes, OK,
- 12:28Speaker 1: you know what, I want to keep going to Terminal 5.
- 12:30Speaker 1: So at least that,
- 12:31Speaker 2: is it
- 12:32Speaker 1: good lah. I mean she's still walking, active and working
- 12:35Speaker 1: hard and all that. No, that's
- 12:36Speaker 2: great. I mean, I honestly with our personality type, I
- 12:40Speaker 2: don't think that we'll be able to retire so early.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Will you,
- 12:45Speaker 1: honestly, yeah, I know if I were to ever retire
- 12:48Speaker 1: or leave radio or MCing early, I cannot rest. Exactly.
- 12:52Speaker 2: I would be
- 12:53Speaker 2: so restless.
- 12:54Speaker 1: It's like Tony Stark in Iron
- 12:56Speaker 2: Man. Or maybe if you strike total tomorrow, for example, right,
- 12:59Speaker 2: like you would still want to do something, right? You
- 13:01Speaker 1: wouldn't know, but there'll be signs, but I'll still be here.
- 13:04Speaker 2: You'll still be here, but you'll be doing it for
- 13:06Speaker 2: fun already at this point.
- 13:07Speaker 1: But my
- 13:08Speaker 1: address will change to Marina Bay Penthouse,
- 13:10Speaker 2: you know, OK, I see, I see. Or you buy
- 13:12Speaker 2: some island somewhere.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Where Island a boat. I
- 13:15Speaker 1: think man and island enough lah. Oh,
- 13:20Speaker 2: is it bad news. OK, sorry, sorry, sorry, you stay
- 13:22Speaker 2: here we don't
- 13:23Speaker 1: need a Gomez Island.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I feel as if I'm doing a live chat with
- 13:27Speaker 1: boss Janice right now on WhatsApp. I'm gonna ask her
- 13:30Speaker 1: a question, OK? I just typed Boss Janice, are we close?
- 13:36Speaker 1: OK, are we? She replied, Yes,
- 13:39Speaker 2: yes, we are. Yeah, we are
- 13:41Speaker 1: close because, OK, people are supposed to call in at
- 13:43Speaker 1: 669-119-87 when they hit the queue to call, right? But
- 13:47Speaker 1: there are some who are WhatsApping us their guesses. Yes, yes.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Apparently, I think Boss Genice has been scanning through the answers.
- 13:55Speaker 1: One of them got the answer right on WhatsApp, but
- 13:57Speaker 1: that's not how we play the game. Yeah,
- 13:58Speaker 2: that's not how we play. You have to call through
- 14:00Speaker 2: unfortunately or fortunately. She won't tell us which one. She won't.
- 14:03Speaker 2: We got like hundreds of messages every day. OK, let's go.
- 14:07Speaker 2: 87 Secret sin.
- 14:13Speaker 2: that
- 14:14Speaker 2: Good morning, 987. This is Amir and I want the
- 14:18Speaker 2: 100 right now.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Of course, yes. OK, Amir, I think you are a
- 14:24Speaker 1: lucky caller because you've heard all six clues for the
- 14:28Speaker 1: very first time. You've been following the game already and
- 14:32Speaker 1: we have $10,000.
- 14:35Speaker 1: How confident are you of winning the money right now
- 14:38Speaker 1: on 987?
- 14:39Speaker 2: I'm almost 100%
- 14:41Speaker 2: confident
- 14:42Speaker 1: right now.
- 14:43Speaker 2: I've been talking to my wife about this. Is she
- 14:46Speaker 2: in the car with you right now by any chance? Uh,
- 14:48Speaker 1: no,
- 14:48Speaker 2: she's
- 14:48Speaker 1: not.
- 14:48Speaker 2: She's sleeping right now. She's sleeping OK I might, I
- 14:51Speaker 2: might give her a good news.
- 14:52Speaker 2: If I win this 100.
- 14:54Speaker 1: If you win $10,000 will you split $50 each or
- 14:57Speaker 1: all the $100 going to your wife? Everything is to her.
- 15:03Speaker 2: I love that. Husband of the year, man. OK. Listen
- 15:07Speaker 2: very carefully now, OK. Here's the sound.
- 15:11Speaker 2: For $10,000 Amir, what is 987's secret sound? OK, so
- 15:17Speaker 1: my guess for
- 15:17Speaker 2: the 987 secret sound is the the the the the
- 15:20Speaker 2: filter being clicked into the water purifier.
- 15:23Speaker 2: You are incorrect. Your chance to play 987's secret sound continues.
- 15:31Speaker 2: What's that sound?
- 15:33Speaker 1: Oh no. Not, not the answer we're looking for, but. Alrighty,
- 15:42Speaker 1: thank you very much for your call. Take care, Amir.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Amir. Thank you so much. Thank you
- 15:47Speaker 1: so
- 15:47Speaker 2: much,
- 15:47Speaker 1: guys. You guys
- 15:48Speaker 2: have been great. Thank you. Thank you. Have a nice weekend.
- 15:53Speaker 1: One guess
- 15:54Speaker 1: win big.
- 15:57Speaker 1: What's that sound?
- 15:59Speaker 2: About to open up phone lines right now and also
- 16:02Speaker 2: our WhatsApp messages. You know,
- 16:03Speaker 1: in the news as of late, I think maybe on
- 16:06Speaker 1: social media, I won't say it's the biggest piece of
- 16:09Speaker 1: news we had this week, but
- 16:11Speaker 2: There was a debate going on. Yeah, Singapore
- 16:13Speaker 1: Airlines and the whole halal food options here and there,
- 16:16Speaker 1: to which I don't think we're gonna touch on that
- 16:18Speaker 1: because it's being debated and discussed. There are so many
- 16:22Speaker 1: experts now and even religious experts weighing in on this.
- 16:25Speaker 1: That's right. So we'll leave it for that for social media,
- 16:28Speaker 1: but I was just thinking, what's the best in-flight meal
- 16:31Speaker 1: you've ever had?
- 16:33Speaker 2: Actually, I, uh, I, I had this amazing, I think
- 16:37Speaker 2: it was a beef noodle, like a beef brisket noodle thing. Yes,
- 16:42Speaker 2: on Singapore Airlines economy. So this was a short flight.
- 16:45Speaker 2: I think I was going to, I can't recall, was
- 16:47Speaker 2: it Thailand or was it Bali, either one of those
- 16:50Speaker 2: for a friend's wedding, and they served the in-flight meal,
- 16:54Speaker 2: to which sometimes I'll just ask like, oh, what, what
- 16:56Speaker 2: would you recommend, you know, and usually my taste, I'll
- 16:59Speaker 2: go for the Asian option for sure.
- 17:01Speaker 2: So I decided to go for it. Um, I will
- 17:03Speaker 2: double-check whether it's a rice or noodle, but if I'm
- 17:05Speaker 2: not wrong, it's beef noodle. It was so good. It
- 17:08Speaker 2: was so good. I took a photo and I actually
- 17:10Speaker 2: posted on IGS and I recommended anyone who's flying SQ
- 17:14Speaker 2: um on economy during that period of time, go for that.
- 17:16Speaker 2: So some of my
- 17:17Speaker 2: Followers actually did. They say, Hey, OK, I try lah
- 17:19Speaker 2: because I'm going for a short trip, and some of
- 17:21Speaker 2: them tagged me in their story saying like, Hey, it
- 17:23Speaker 2: was actually very good. It was actually really good. Yeah.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Having had the honor of experiencing and the privilege in
- 17:30Speaker 1: Singapore Airlines, I don't know why it's
- 17:33Speaker 2: different.
- 17:34Speaker 2: OK, because you pair it with champagne.
- 17:37Speaker 1: No, I don't drink champagne on, on board. Oh, you don't.
- 17:39Speaker 1: I'll just spend the Coke Zero and the red wine.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Oh, OK, OK,
- 17:43Speaker 1: OK, OK, not so much the champagne. I, I, I've
- 17:45Speaker 1: never liked champagne.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Oh, because you've only experienced it in the club. That's
- 17:49Speaker 2: not the right way to
- 17:50Speaker 1: a
- 17:51Speaker 2: little bit weird.
- 17:51Speaker 1: OK, but, um, in terms of economy or even a
- 17:55Speaker 1: budget airline, OK, people might debate this. AirAsia.
- 18:01Speaker 2: You like the green curry? Yes. Oh, I knew you
- 18:03Speaker 2: were gonna say that for some reason.
- 18:04Speaker 1: The green
- 18:05Speaker 1: curry or the nasi lemma. Hey, it's not too bad,
- 18:07Speaker 1: you know. It's not,
- 18:08Speaker 2: it's not OK. I will say that I did like it, but, um,
- 18:12Speaker 2: at one period of time, I was, I was doing
- 18:14Speaker 2: a campaign like filming with them, and we had to
- 18:17Speaker 2: fly their airline like all the time. So like every
- 18:20Speaker 2: weekend I was flying an AirAsia flight, right.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Yes, for SSBD back then to the point where we
- 18:28Speaker 2: ate the nasi lem and the green curry until I
- 18:30Speaker 2: cannot touch it anymore, but it was indeed good. That's
- 18:34Speaker 2: why we kept ordering it.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember my flight from Bali back to Singapore.
- 18:39Speaker 1: It was on AirAsia, and thank God they had the
- 18:41Speaker 1: meals open, so I bought myself the.
- 18:46Speaker 1: It was very good, very
- 18:47Speaker 1: good,
- 18:48Speaker 2: enjoyed it. Yeah. Um, look, so many different meals that
- 18:51Speaker 2: we've had and like Joakim said, if you've had the
- 18:53Speaker 2: pleasure of experiencing a business class flight or even first
- 18:56Speaker 2: class or whatever it is, right, that's a different standard altogether, lah.
- 19:00Speaker 2: They have their own menu over there. It's different, yeah.
- 19:03Speaker 2: But give us a call 669-11987. Doesn't matter what airline,
- 19:08Speaker 2: doesn't matter what class you've flown.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Have you had a really awesome meal on board before
- 19:13Speaker 2: and what was it?
- 19:14Speaker 1: Let us know. 66911987.
- 19:18Speaker 2: And even though we don't have a flight for you,
- 19:20Speaker 2: we do have a wonderful meal for you with $150. Yeah,
- 19:22Speaker 1: like a
- 19:23Speaker 1: short staycation but still in Singapore at Sentosa.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Greenwood Fish Market, a very nice dining experience. Then maybe
- 19:32Speaker 1: you can go book a hotel there and stay over
- 19:33Speaker 1: there for a while.
- 19:34Speaker 2: OK, the topic of um food that you have had
- 19:37Speaker 2: on board.
- 19:39Speaker 1: OK, going to WhatsApp right now, 90050987, saying good morning
- 19:45Speaker 1: to Benjamin. Benjamin says, hey guys, best in-flight meal I've ever.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I had was on Turkish Airlines. Oh
- 19:52Speaker 2: wow, I've never flown Turkish Air.
- 19:54Speaker 1: They
- 19:54Speaker 1: serve this amazing grilled lamb with rice, mezzo on the
- 19:58Speaker 1: side and warm bread. It felt like a proper Turkish
- 20:01Speaker 1: restaurant in the sky,
- 20:02Speaker 2: like a Mediterranean
- 20:03Speaker 2: feast.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Yeah, a little bit. Oh, wouldn't mind some kebabs and
- 20:06Speaker 1: shawarma right now.
- 20:07Speaker 2: My
- 20:07Speaker 2: stomach just growled hungry.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I want to say good morning to.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Zach as well. All Nippon Airways, ANA, the food was amazing.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Had fried chicken on a recent flight. Perth, Australia to Tokyo.
- 20:20Speaker 1: My only experience of first class was taken when I
- 20:23Speaker 1: was around 10 years old. We got upgraded due to
- 20:25Speaker 1: delays and a missed connection. I passed out before we
- 20:29Speaker 1: even left the gate and woke up at the destination.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Oh, actually, honestly, I feel like it's really wasted. Like, on, so,
- 20:36Speaker 2: so here's the thing, on occasion, if Joakim and I
- 20:39Speaker 2: have the privilege of, you know, say, trying something out
- 20:42Speaker 2: like a business class flight or something, right? I think
- 20:45Speaker 2: after my first experience, which was a work-related one, I
- 20:49Speaker 2: thought to myself, if I ever get to fly business
- 20:52Speaker 2: or anything else of its equivalent.
- 20:55Speaker 2: On any airlines at all. I hope that it's at
- 20:58Speaker 2: least a very long flight because I want to experience it.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Like I don't want to just go there and pass out,
- 21:03Speaker 2: you know. You have to experience the whole thing. OK,
- 21:06Speaker 2: but as a 10 year old kid, you won't know
- 21:08Speaker 2: any better. Yeah, you won't know. Can you imagine for
- 21:11Speaker 2: the parents to.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Can you imagine one day they actually serve like McDonald's
- 21:16Speaker 1: or KFC on board a flight.
- 21:18Speaker 1: I, I think it will sell, you know. I think
- 21:20Speaker 1: it will
- 21:21Speaker 1: be very popular.
- 21:22Speaker 2: OK, I disagree. I mean, I, I, I think it
- 21:25Speaker 2: will be very popular, yes, but I feel like we
- 21:27Speaker 2: should support our local restaurants, for sure, yeah. Yeah. So
- 21:30Speaker 2: I think if the airlines attached to like, you know,
- 21:33Speaker 2: Singapore Airlines or whichever airlines, they will want to support
- 21:36Speaker 2: their own home country's food,
- 21:38Speaker 1: right? In that case,
- 21:39Speaker 1: Philippine Airlines, Jolly, come on.
- 21:42Speaker 2: I will, I'm down for that for sure. There you go.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Keep calling us 66911.
- 21:47Speaker 2: 987. What was the best in-flight meal that you've enjoyed?
- 21:50Speaker 2: Let us know and you could walk away with an
- 21:52Speaker 2: experience that takes you to quayside aisle. So far,
- 21:55Speaker 1: one vote for Nippon Airways and one vote for Turkish
- 21:58Speaker 2: Airlines. And I'm sure that if you were on a
- 22:01Speaker 2: business class or first-class flight, you will want to slow
- 22:04Speaker 2: it down and enjoy like full, I don't know, at
- 22:07Speaker 2: least 12 hours of the flight for sure
- 22:09Speaker 1: or maybe even in economy. OK. If you want to
- 22:12Speaker 1: just lay back and relax and if your legs are OK.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Actually, I'm OK because I'm.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Quite small, but, um, sometimes for, for, for my partner germs,
- 22:20Speaker 2: he struggles a little bit because he's he's got
- 22:22Speaker 1: longer legs. I know exactly how germs. So he's like,
- 22:25Speaker 2: Hey, you OK? I'm like, yeah, actually I'm fine in
- 22:27Speaker 2: this seat. Anyway, we're talking about what was the best
- 22:32Speaker 2: in-flight meal that you've experienced.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Got one text coming in from anonymous ground staff. Hey guys,
- 22:38Speaker 1: if you're flying to Koh Samui, please try Bangkok Airways.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Their part Thai and basil chicken tip top.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Their apple and orange juice is also nice, different from
- 22:49Speaker 1: what we have here. And for juices, you should try
- 22:52Speaker 1: Finnair's blueberry juice. It's so good and the drink is
- 22:56Speaker 1: viral on social media, but we can't get it in Singapore. Really?
- 22:59Speaker 2: Yeah. You know what I like is the, the chocolate
- 23:02Speaker 2: muffin on Singapore Airlines.
- 23:04Speaker 2: I know it's, it's very random, but I love it.
- 23:07Speaker 2: I love it so much. I have to have it
- 23:08Speaker 2: every time I go on. Alright,
- 23:09Speaker 1: so we got ANA, Turkish Airlines, Bangkok Airways, and Finnair.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Gonna go back to WhatsApp 0050987. I was waiting for
- 23:18Speaker 1: this to come out. Qatar Airways. I had this brace.
- 23:22Speaker 1: The beef with mashed potatoes and a really rich sauce
- 23:26Speaker 1: plus a proper dessert after. It feels like a restaurant
- 23:29Speaker 1: level plating and taste.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Nice. Was this on economy or business? Curious. Good. Sounds
- 23:35Speaker 2: like it could be. But the fact that this person,
- 23:35Speaker 2: it could be, um.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Don't let the presentation deceive you though. Sometimes I've had
- 23:47Speaker 2: some really great meals on economy as well, so really,
- 23:50Speaker 2: really good. Uh, we're talking about the best meal you've
- 23:52Speaker 2: had on board, um, all inspired by a bit of
- 23:55Speaker 2: a debate going on right now, you know, with the
- 23:56Speaker 2: whole Singapore Airlines and the halal meal situation, but there's
- 24:00Speaker 2: a lot of conversation going on. Go, go keep yourself
- 24:02Speaker 2: updated if you want to.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Efforts have weighed in and it's quite sensitive. So we're
- 24:07Speaker 1: not even gonna touch it on air, just in
- 24:09Speaker 1: case.
- 24:09Speaker 2: You know, it did make us think about the kind
- 24:11Speaker 2: of meals that we've been offered on air as well, right?
- 24:15Speaker 2: I mean, on board as well. Yeah. So we're gonna
- 24:18Speaker 2: head to Four lines in just a bit. Any other
- 24:20Speaker 2: messages you want to read out
- 24:21Speaker 1: first? We do have a text coming in from Miss Tay.
- 24:24Speaker 1: That's her name.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Morning Sonia and Joakim. A few years ago we flew
- 24:28Speaker 1: Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong for a holiday. I chose
- 24:32Speaker 1: the curry chicken rice. It was served hot. The curry
- 24:35Speaker 1: was creamy, and the chicken was so tender. It was
- 24:38Speaker 1: so good that my friend actually asked for a second serving.
- 24:41Speaker 1: They even gave us ice cream cups
- 24:43Speaker 1: too.
- 24:43Speaker 2: I love that. They had a second serving. I mean,
- 24:46Speaker 2: sometimes if it's very popular, they might run out of
- 24:49Speaker 2: that
- 24:49Speaker 1: meals and
- 24:50Speaker 1: they don't want to waste food.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Yeah, true. One more coming in from Yun, and this
- 24:55Speaker 1: one I agree. I'm very happy someone said this. Hi,
- 24:58Speaker 1: Sonia and Jokim. My favorite food on board, Korean Airlines.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Oh
- 25:03Speaker 1: bibimbap.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I think I've tried that before actually. I
- 25:06Speaker 2: only flew Korean Air once and uh it was very legit,
- 25:10Speaker 2: like the way that they mix it up and everything.
- 25:12Speaker 2: It was like,
- 25:12Speaker 1: wow. Gotta say I enjoyed the exterior of Korean Airlines.
- 25:15Speaker 1: The light blue is quite nice to look at.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Soothing, very soothing. OK, Chu is on the line right now.
- 25:19Speaker 2: What about you? OK, this was on business class flight
- 25:23Speaker 2: to Japan, and they've got this meal curated by this, uh,
- 25:28Speaker 2: Michelin three-star restaurant chef. Wow, wait, wait, which airline was
- 25:33Speaker 2: this first? It has to be Singapore Airlines. Oh, OK, OK.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Go ahead. Tell us more about this meal. So it's
- 25:39Speaker 2: like a
- 25:40Speaker 1: Thai meal with
- 25:42Speaker 2: many.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Little intricate items, right? You can see that they're putting
- 25:47Speaker 2: so much effort into each and every one of the items.
- 25:51Speaker 2: It was amazing. It was so good until I had
- 25:55Speaker 2: to put myself on the real restaurant in Kyoto and
- 26:00Speaker 2: it blew me away. And the quality that was served
- 26:03Speaker 2: on board Singapore Airlines, it matches closely the ones that
- 26:07Speaker 2: were served in the restaurant itself.
- 26:08Speaker 2: So for me, 3 stars,
- 26:11Speaker 1: no doubt about
- 26:11Speaker 2: it.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Sure, only because you said 3-star Michelin chef, right? Did
- 26:15Speaker 1: you have to pay extra for this, or is it
- 26:17Speaker 1: part of your flight ticket already?
- 26:19Speaker 2: It should be part of it, right? It should be something.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Sometimes they have like special collaborations and actually I think
- 26:25Speaker 2: what happened with you, like, you know, the fact that
- 26:28Speaker 2: you went and booked a meal in the actual restaurant,
- 26:30Speaker 2: that's probably the goal of the entire experience, right, with
- 26:33Speaker 2: the collaboration, all that.
- 26:34Speaker 2: They, they have to meet a certain standard. If not,
- 26:37Speaker 2: the Japanese chef's name is at stake as well. Exactly, exactly, exactly.
- 26:43Speaker 2: You know what, I would definitely want to take a
- 26:45Speaker 2: flight on the destinations to experience this again. I have
- 26:51Speaker 2: a I have a question for you, um, with the
- 26:53Speaker 2: fact that you have such great taste in food, did
- 26:55Speaker 2: you pair it with any like, did they offer some
- 26:57Speaker 2: sake or did you pair it with white wine or champagne?
- 27:00Speaker 2: or any ritz or anything. You just hit the spot.
- 27:03Speaker 2: They had sake as well.
- 27:04Speaker 1: It
- 27:04Speaker 2: was
- 27:04Speaker 1: really
- 27:04Speaker 1: good. Did you tell the chef, I enjoyed the onboard
- 27:07Speaker 1: meal so much that I'm here to try the actual food?
- 27:10Speaker 2: Unfortunately, I didn't get to meet
- 27:12Speaker 1: the
- 27:12Speaker 2: man
- 27:12Speaker 1: himself,
- 27:13Speaker 2: but I would have done the same thing that you
- 27:16Speaker 2: have just described. OK. Thank you so much, man. Like
- 27:19Speaker 2: I guess we need to have some Japanese food soon.
- 27:21Speaker 2: My stomach just growled again.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I want to have a kaiseki
- 27:23Speaker 1: meal.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to have some sake. It's the weekend, woo.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Thank you for all your messages and your calls. It
- 27:28Speaker 2: was really nice to hear such a wide variety of
- 27:31Speaker 2: different airlines, firstly, because we're talking about some of the
- 27:34Speaker 2: best food you've experienced and you've had on board a flight.
- 27:38Speaker 1: And we got votes coming in for ANA, Turkish Airlines, Finnair,
- 27:42Speaker 1: Bangkok Airways, of course, Singapore Airlines in the mix.
- 27:45Speaker 2: Cathay.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I'm very surprised nobody said Emirates, even though I've not
- 27:50Speaker 1: flown Emirates. I've seen rave reviews about the in-flight meals.
- 27:54Speaker 2: I've
- 27:54Speaker 2: flown Emirates before with my family, but I don't know why.
- 27:57Speaker 2: I can't really recall what I had. It's been too
- 27:59Speaker 2: many years. Yeah,
- 28:00Speaker 1: so anyway, today's winner, let's give it to Chua who
- 28:03Speaker 1: called us earlier.
- 28:05Speaker 2: And thank you for your call earlier and to everyone else,
- 28:09Speaker 2: thank you for your messages and your stories. Always such
- 28:11Speaker 2: a pleasure to receive them in the morning. And
- 28:13Speaker 1: Chua, what's coming your way, a nice dining experience. All
- 28:16Speaker 1: thanks to our friends over at Greenwood Fish Market. It's
- 28:18Speaker 1: worth 150
- 28:20Speaker 1: dollars.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Wow, you're gonna love that one for sure. Fresh seafood.
- 28:23Speaker 2: And
- 28:23Speaker 1: given how the World Cup season is coming, mornings off,
- 28:26Speaker 1: I think it'll be very packed.
- 28:27Speaker 2: Oh yeah, they've got a spot.
- 28:28Speaker 2: area as well. Sorry, just joking, being an idiot this morning.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Just having the Labor Day giggles. By the way, Sonia,
- 28:34Speaker 1: a quick random piece of news for you. Every time
- 28:37Speaker 1: we go to our Media Corp vending machine, yeah, we
- 28:39Speaker 1: will always say, huh, what's new? We'll speculate and nothing's new, right?
- 28:43Speaker 1: I'm happy to announce the vending machine over at Level 7.
- 28:46Speaker 1: They have something new, which is noisy. Oh
- 28:48Speaker 2: yay yay.
- 28:51Speaker 2: It's really cheap thrills, man. You can tell we have
- 28:55Speaker 2: very little food options in Media Corp at this time
- 28:58Speaker 2: of the morning and not just that, it's a public holiday.
- 29:00Speaker 2: So
- 29:00Speaker 1: if you own a vending machine company, maybe invest in
- 29:02Speaker 1: Media Corp for a while.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes. Can you put something else more interesting inside?
- 29:07Speaker 1: OK, the
- 29:07Speaker 1: hot.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I, I feel like we need more hot vending machines. OK, because,
- 29:13Speaker 2: you know, I feel our friends in Japan, they've got
- 29:15Speaker 2: that nailed down. They've got even corn soup served in
- 29:18Speaker 2: their vending machines. What's stopping.
- 29:20Speaker 2: us from having that in
- 29:20Speaker 1: Singapore. Maybe next Monday, our call topic can be, do
- 29:24Speaker 1: you use your office vending machines?
- 29:26Speaker 2: Yeah, or what, what kind of vending machines you want
- 29:28Speaker 2: in your office? Let's go.
- 29:30Speaker 1: I'll note it down.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Yes. Anyway, stick around because right after 9 a.m. the
- 29:33Speaker 2: goodies do not stop seeing how Mother's Day is just
- 29:36Speaker 2: around the corner. We've got you covered. But for now,
- 29:39Speaker 2: Mother's Day coming up around the corner. Um, my mom
- 29:43Speaker 2: texted me yesterday saying, girl, don't spend too much money
- 29:45Speaker 2: on Mother's Day, OK? I'm not sure whether that's a
- 29:47Speaker 2: trick question.
- 29:50Speaker 2: That shit question,
- 29:50Speaker 1: Joakim. I mean.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Oh, does she mean it?
- 29:54Speaker 1: I was just thinking we are almost, oh my goodness,
- 29:59Speaker 1: we are a few less than 2
- 30:01Speaker 2: weeks away from Mother's Day and
- 30:03Speaker 1: also something else,
- 30:06Speaker 2: which is your wedding. Oh hello.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Sorry, sorry, I was talking about Mother's Day lah. I
- 30:14Speaker 2: got confused.
- 30:14Speaker 1: No wonder your mom said don't spend so much money
- 30:15Speaker 1: this year a bit a bit the budget here?
- 30:20Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, I'm actually trying to keep things, um,
- 30:22Speaker 2: as low as possible for the wedding. But anyway, we digress.
- 30:25Speaker 1: I cannot believe you almost forgot. Stop it. Anyway, what
- 30:27Speaker 1: we have for you right now is a 987 Mother's
- 30:30Speaker 1: Day bundle.
- 30:32Speaker 1: It's a one-night weekend stay in the deluxe Room at
- 30:35Speaker 1: Momentous Hotel Alexandra with a weekend poolside barbecue for $2
- 30:39Speaker 1: worth over $540. We also have a dining experience at
- 30:44Speaker 1: Lime Restaurant worth $200 in celebration of Mother's Day. Over
- 30:50Speaker 1: at Park Royal Collection, they are presenting.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Toast to Mom. And of course, what is Mother's Day
- 30:56Speaker 1: without some flowers? A Mother's Day exclusive bouquet plus a
- 31:00Speaker 1: $20 voucher code by Sea to Bloom worth over 110
- 31:05Speaker 1: dollars.
- 31:06Speaker 2: Dude, that's, that's beautiful. Basically it's the whole package and
- 31:09Speaker 2: it's worth almost
- 31:09Speaker 1: $1000. We got, we got flowers.
- 31:13Speaker 1: I
- 31:14Speaker 2: also
- 31:14Speaker 2: want to win for your mom, right? Yeah,
- 31:16Speaker 1: yes?
- 31:17Speaker 2: Yeah, for my mom. What's up with the hesitation?
- 31:20Speaker 1: I'm supposed to come up with my own gift for
- 31:21Speaker 1: my mom as well,
- 31:22Speaker 2: right? Yes, but you don't, don't need to tell her. OK,
- 31:26Speaker 2: please tag us if you do win this, OK. We're
- 31:28Speaker 2: opening up the phone lines in less than 5 minutes.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Here's the question you've got to ponder over, OK.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Um, when you call through, think about this. If your
- 31:36Speaker 2: mom had a superpower, what would it be? Phone lines
- 31:40Speaker 2: will open in less than 5 minutes. We're going to
- 31:42Speaker 2: give you just a few minutes to think about it, OK?
- 31:44Speaker 2: Talking a Mother's Day bundle that is worth close to
- 31:47Speaker 2: $1000 like Joy mentioned earlier, you get a staycation, you
- 31:52Speaker 2: get a premium dining experience, and you've also got a
- 31:54Speaker 2: bouquet of flowers and a
- 31:56Speaker 2: Voucher code as well just for her. So
- 31:58Speaker 1: a big thank you to Momentous Hotel, Alexandra Park Royal Collection, Pickerings,
- 32:03Speaker 1: Lime Restaurant, and our friends over at Sea to Bloom
- 32:07Speaker 1: for coming on board 987 and giving, I think this
- 32:09Speaker 1: will be our 5th lucky mom, a wonderful Mother's Day experience.
- 32:14Speaker 1: I mean,
- 32:14Speaker 2: that's, that's fantastic. You really should pamper your mom. She's
- 32:17Speaker 2: done so much for you.
- 32:18Speaker 1: So here we go.
- 32:19Speaker 1: 669-11987. The phone lines are open. Call us and tell
- 32:23Speaker 1: us if your mom had a superpower, what would it be? Sonia,
- 32:27Speaker 1: for you, what is your mom's superpower?
- 32:30Speaker 2: She brings joy to people. Like she, she makes people laugh. Oh,
- 32:34Speaker 1: you went with the nice answers. OK. Oh,
- 32:36Speaker 2: you want a nice
- 32:37Speaker 2: answer,
- 32:37Speaker 1: is it? My mom is getting the refund. That's her superpower.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Yeah,
- 32:43Speaker 2: yeah,
- 32:43Speaker 1: she knows how to do it and get the refund.
- 32:45Speaker 2: That's true, yeah. If I got any issue, I will
- 32:47Speaker 2: definitely ask your mom. Yeah, so anytime she'll adopt you
- 32:51Speaker 2: as the, you go. Good Morning, it's Gary.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Hello Gary.
- 32:57Speaker 1: How is your Labor Day going for you, buddy? What
- 32:59Speaker 1: are you up to?
- 33:00Speaker 2: Uh, this morning I just woke up and make some breakfast.
- 33:03Speaker 2: And are you currently working or schooling? Um, I'm just
- 33:06Speaker 2: going to start my new job, uh, this coming Monday. Oh,
- 33:09Speaker 1: congrats.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Yeah, well, all the best for that. Hope it goes well.
- 33:14Speaker 2: On that note, I'm sure that you want to pamper
- 33:16Speaker 2: and reward your mom as well. Tell us a bit
- 33:19Speaker 2: about your mother. So I think to me, I've always
- 33:21Speaker 2: seen my mom as my superman, not just because she's
- 33:24Speaker 2: always there to protect me, but also I feel like
- 33:27Speaker 2: she has X-ray vision. She doesn't just like see through
- 33:30Speaker 2: like walls, but I think she actually like sees through
- 33:32Speaker 2: my heart. So she like, she like sees past my
- 33:35Speaker 2: brave face, past my silence, past the words.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Like, you know, I'm fine, and she notices the hurt
- 33:41Speaker 2: that I try to hide sometimes, the dreams that, you know,
- 33:43Speaker 2: I don't dare to say out loud, and the strength
- 33:46Speaker 2: that I do not always know I have. So even
- 33:49Speaker 2: like trying to find a job was really not easy,
- 33:51Speaker 2: but she was always there at every point to like
- 33:53Speaker 2: really support me and just to cheer me on, and
- 33:56Speaker 2: I'm really grateful for that. That really is a superpower,
- 33:58Speaker 2: you know.
- 33:59Speaker 1: What can I say? But for you, the phrase mother
- 34:02Speaker 1: knows best, it really applies. Well done to you.
- 34:06Speaker 2: To enjoy this, maybe with your mom if you're bringing
- 34:09Speaker 2: her along or if you want to gift it to
- 34:10Speaker 2: her to decide who she wants to bring for the staycation,
- 34:13Speaker 2: that's fine as well, but she really sounds like a
- 34:15Speaker 2: fantastic woman and we're sending her all our love, OK? Yes,
- 34:20Speaker 2: thank you so much. Congratulations. Here's what she's walking away
- 34:24Speaker 2: with once more. So Gary,
- 34:25Speaker 1: tell your mom you've won her a very nice vacation
- 34:28Speaker 1: in a deluxe room at Momentous Hotel Alexandra. Lovely dining.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Experience at Park Royal Collection Pickerings Lime Restaurant and a
- 34:37Speaker 1: very nice bouquet of flowers. Actually, you know what, don't
- 34:39Speaker 1: tell her. You surprise her with it. Yeah,
- 34:41Speaker 2: OK.
- 34:42Speaker 2: There we go. Yeah, don't forget to tag us in
- 34:44Speaker 2: your pictures, OK? Have a good
- 34:45Speaker 2: one.
- 34:46Speaker 1: You know, as it stands, Michael Jackson or Michael the movie, it's, uh,
- 34:51Speaker 1: the biggest box office opening for now. Congratulations. I think
- 34:56Speaker 1: critics and fans are very split about reviewing the.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Movie. To be honest, I've seen quite a lot of
- 35:01Speaker 2: positive comments from the fans, because I think they just
- 35:04Speaker 2: treated it as like, wow, it's a nice watch, you know.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Can I give
- 35:07Speaker 1: you a constructive, like final feedback, final opinion from Joakim
- 35:11Speaker 1: Gomez as a gift from yours truly. It's a feel-good movie.
- 35:14Speaker 1: It is. Don't go in there expecting the struggles of
- 35:18Speaker 1: Michael Jackson. No. Go in there and expect to just
- 35:21Speaker 1: feel good watching Jaafar Jackson, almost in a way pay
- 35:24Speaker 1: tribute to Michael.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Jackson by performing and doing whatever he did.
- 35:27Speaker 2: And I feel like no, no matter what the opinions are,
- 35:31Speaker 2: Jaafar has done a fantastic job portraying him, and we
- 35:35Speaker 2: don't want to like take his thunder or steal his thunder,
- 35:38Speaker 2: you know what I mean? I think it's a great
- 35:39Speaker 2: moment that he should still celebrate. He's come so far.
- 35:42Speaker 2: When
- 35:42Speaker 1: we come back, if you're on social media, you might
- 35:45Speaker 1: be very confused as to what does a footballing team
- 35:49Speaker 1: has to do with Michael Jackson.
- 35:52Speaker 2: They trained to his music.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Actually, I mean,
- 35:55Speaker 2: right? I'm
- 35:56Speaker 1: pretty
- 35:56Speaker 2: sure some clubs do motivational or
- 35:58Speaker 2: something,
- 35:59Speaker 1: but, but this could not have happened at a better
- 36:01Speaker 1: time for this particular footballing team.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Why do I feel like I might laugh or like
- 36:06Speaker 2: a joke is incoming?
- 36:07Speaker 1: I
- 36:08Speaker 1: wouldn't want to be the guy involved. OK, that's what
- 36:11Speaker 1: I'm
- 36:11Speaker 1: gonna say.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Dawn Tolliver on 987, Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Sonny and Jo came here with you this morning.
- 36:18Speaker 1: So earlier I mentioned about how there's a football team
- 36:22Speaker 1: and it's kind of being memed on social media right now, but,
- 36:25Speaker 1: but people are a little bit confused as to why
- 36:28Speaker 1: is it being memed. So here we go. There's an
- 36:30Speaker 1: English Premier League team by the name of Burnley.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Burnley. Yeah,
- 36:35Speaker 1: yeah, and they take on leads, I think 3 a.m.
- 36:39Speaker 1: later on tomorrow morning.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Unfortunately for them, they sacked the current manager and now
- 36:45Speaker 1: there's an interim manager coming in to take care of
- 36:48Speaker 1: the team at least until the end of the season.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Unfortunately for the interim manager, it's, it's a case of
- 36:56Speaker 1: what's in the name, right? The manager's name is Michael Jackson.
- 37:02Speaker 2: No.
- 37:03Speaker 1: So footballing meme sites worldwide are photoshopping Michael Jackson.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Oh no, he, he jokes are gonna come out. And
- 37:12Speaker 2: then
- 37:12Speaker 1: people are doing, oh, the next time in training, they're
- 37:14Speaker 1: all leaning in the in the smooth criminal video. They're
- 37:17Speaker 1: all moonwalking. Oh my God. It's hilarious. So I, I
- 37:20Speaker 1: wonder what's
- 37:21Speaker 1: The mental game now for the actual Michael Jackson, who's
- 37:24Speaker 1: going to coach Burnley up to the end of the season.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Hey man, look, this could be a good distraction technique also.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Let everyone laugh at us. Let them
- 37:31Speaker 1: laugh. But talk about timing. The movie is now playing.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Michael Jackson, and
- 37:35Speaker 2: now there you go. Exactly. How does he look like?
- 37:38Speaker 2: I'm so curious.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Well, he does not look anything like the real MJ thankfully, actually.
- 37:45Speaker 2: He's
- 37:45Speaker 1: also the real MJ.
- 37:47Speaker 1: His name is
- 37:47Speaker 2: Michael, I mean the original MJ. He's also the original.
- 37:53Speaker 2: How old is he? How old is he?
- 37:55Speaker 1: How
- 37:55Speaker 2: old, how old is he?
- 37:56Speaker 1: He looks like in his early Michael Jackson Burnley age. OK,
- 38:00Speaker 1: here we go. He is 52
- 38:03Speaker 2: years old. OK, so how old would Michael Jackson singer
- 38:06Speaker 2: if he was still alive today?
- 38:08Speaker 1: Oh wow, 1958 he would be.
- 38:12Speaker 1: 68
- 38:13Speaker 1: years old.
- 38:14Speaker 2: He's the original Michael Jackson. He was born first.
