- 0:00SPEAKER_02: In the final episode of the season, we are rounding up the Dutch League.
- 0:05SPEAKER_02: The Pro League's back up and running.
- 0:07SPEAKER_02: We'll give you our takes.
- 0:08SPEAKER_02: We've got some questions for each other.
- 0:10SPEAKER_02: We've got some memories that we're going to reminisce about.
- 0:13SPEAKER_02: And we're going to do some most likely two and uh lift into the coup.
- 0:16SPEAKER_02: We'll come in next.
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: It's episode eight.
- 0:34SPEAKER_02: Final episode of the series.
- 0:36SPEAKER_02: Uh a little it's feel like it's gone very fast, and uh we've all decided that it's getting quite busy, so we're gonna we're gonna call it a day.
- 0:44SPEAKER_02: We might offer special episodes um in a few weeks' time, but I mean I'm not gonna promise anything because because uh trying to get us all in a room once a week is tough enough.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: You changed his mind 15 times a day about when he wants to meet.
- 0:58SPEAKER_02: Um meeting Brent just just kneel to every his every need.
- 1:04SPEAKER_02: Um how are you guys?
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm good.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: I'm good.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: I'm happy I'm happy that I'm that I'm that is now confirmed that you guys both that you guys both um um are willing to to listen to me and that I'm actually in charge while you feel act like you're in charge.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: So that that's good.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: And uh it's been a it's been a weird couple weeks, but I'm uh I'm I'm all good.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: How are you guys?
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: I'm sick of your shit, that's what I am.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Oh well, hello to you.
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: Brendan, you we haven't we haven't been with you in like three weeks.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: So you know, did you listen to the Ames episode?
- 1:36SPEAKER_02: Or did you think no?
- 1:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, I never listened back.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: How do you done with me when you haven't seen me in a couple of weeks, Brendan?
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: Fuck you.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: I never listened back.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: I do actually want to Yupe, do you listen back?
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm very vain.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: I want to listen to my own voice a lot.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: I did listen back to the to the Ames uh episode because I felt like we finally had three um like three good people.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: I knew that was coming.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Fuck you.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: I knew that was coming.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: You are full of shit.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: We finally had three competent people who like actually know how to do a good shit.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: Right, should we jump into the Dutch should we jump into Dutch playoffs?
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: Let's just let's just talk about it.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: Let's let's put you on the closet.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's already on the closet, Brendan.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: What the fuck?
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: You you've had a week to like get your shit together.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: Come on, come on, come on, talk us through it.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: Come on, get all the tears out now, and then we'll move on.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: If Brendan's turned into the host, I mean I was gonna say I listened back as well.
- 2:29SPEAKER_02: I'm very vain too.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: I don't like the sound of my own voice, but I like to criticize myself and uh and Brendan.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that sounds about right.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, okay, cool.
- 2:45SPEAKER_02: Um, you do would you like me to do a lowdown of the Dutch league, or do you just want to monologue your way through it?
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: No, just just skip the entire Dutch league as a whole.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: No, I'll I'll do a little I'll do a small little monologue.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: So, ladies and gentlemen, what happened?
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Uh so Dutch players were there.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: It was uh number one, Blumenaw versus Rotterdam, number four, and uh number two Orange Road versus number three Campong.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Um, it's a two-game system in which there's no uh away goal advantage, it's just two uh two games uh aggregate score um is the final score.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: Um semifinal one between Blumendael uh and Rotterdam ended up uh 2-1 in the first game for Blumendaal, uh, which was like kind of expected, and everyone thought Blumendaal was going to finish it off at home.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Then the unexpected uh happened and uh Rotterdam in a in a kind of a crazy game, which there's actually a lot to talk about in that game.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Um 1-3-1 with a with a goal in the final minute of uh Chap Houdenmakers.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: Uh the other game was less uh exciting, less tense.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Uh it was uh it was uh actually a quick pretty good game in the first one in which uh Campong won uh 1-0.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: But uh we had as OR, we had quite a lot of chances to actually uh at least draw what it could have gotten away with the win.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: Um if we were just a little bit more careful with our chances.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Second game uh uh between OR and Campong was uh actually not that bad of a game, but uh some stupid mistakes on our side, and we lost 4-2, which was if and you I think you guys both watched, at least Brandon.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: You watched, right?
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: You watched as well, Phil.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: I think 4-2 was like a bit much for the game itself.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: We were first off, we were quite good, and I when we when we when we scored the 1-1, I actually thought we were gonna finish him off, but um yeah, uh Kampung did actually quite well, defended really hard, and uh were very effective in RD.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: So we lost 4-2, and I think if you lose 5-2 in aggregate, you can't really complain.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: But in the game, I don't know if you guys watched or what had know what happened between Blumenau and uh Rotterdam, but I think five minutes into the game, it was 1-0 for Rotterdam because they they came up pretty quickly.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: Blumenau got a corner, they asked the video, and I think even Stevie Wonder could have could could have seen that it was a foot uh from Rotterdam.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: But uh the video referee who's like its only job is to just look at the tape and see and and tell what uh tell what happens.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: She decided, nah, no reason to change your decision, and Blumenau five minutes into the game loses their referral.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: I get that people say, Yeah, uh, it's not the reason they lost, but they could have gotten at least two or three more corners if they would have had their referral.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: It's just a fucking shit show.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: There's you have as a video referee, you have one fucking job is to look if there's a foot or not, if there's a stick check or not, whatever.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: And she massively fucked up.
- 5:44SPEAKER_02: And I can I ask a bigger question just to go off the off tangent.
- 5:48SPEAKER_02: Because Premier League football, they're voting on it this year to see whether they just scrap uh V A AR.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: If you two were voting on scrapping or keeping video referral for us, what what would you guys do?
- 6:02SPEAKER_02: Because is it also ruining the hockey game?
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: No, okay.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: No, I I I get why there why why there's like um controversy around it because there have there have been some stupid uh decisions made.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: I just think you should look more like that's like not fixing the problem.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Because then in two years' time you're saying, yeah, we we do need video back because the referees miss too much.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: You just need someone who's like competent in that fucking video boot.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: It's not it's if like everyone, like we were we were watching with our team, we were watching Bloom and Waterdam, we saw the video was there, and after two clips, everyone was like, Yeah, that's a corner, and everyone started talking to each other again because it wasn't and it took ages and ages, and all of a sudden she says, Yeah, it's no reason to change her referral.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: She could have also said it's not clear on video, uh uh they keep their referral because I can't see it.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: But she decides it's a fuck, it's a stick when everyone sees it's a food, and that's the problem I have sometimes with referees is when they when they see shit that's not there.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: Jesus Christ.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: Brendan, Brendan, we are in a hockey podcast.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: You you can you can, you know, don't get angry with you for talking about hockey.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: I'm not, he's just got so much emotion over it.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, I think I I've I actually really agree with you.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: I think there should be like a training thing for video umpires to be a video umpire, not just an umpire that can go in and suddenly start working at like the video.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: I think there needs to be a specific, like you need to be credited as a video umpire.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, but well we if we don't have that, um I'm a bit biased because like uh but I've listened to like the Premier League talk about it or the pundits talk about it.
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: I'd actually make I'd never thought about this, but I'd maybe scrap it because we spent some of the things.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: You know they're keeping it, yeah?
- 7:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but they talked about scrapping it.
- 7:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:46SPEAKER_02: But I I I'd if it if I was voting, and I know I don't get a vote, but I think I'd probably scrap it.
- 7:52SPEAKER_02: Like again, like for the purity of the game, for the stupid long waits, for the stupid like mistakes, for the fact that hockey maybe doesn't have enough have good enough cameras to actually follow it.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: It maybe makes more sense to just scrap it until it's good enough and they do enough training to make it worthwhile.
- 8:08SPEAKER_02: Maybe you heard it.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, and what I what I do what I do kind of agree with is that you play 20.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: We play like uh because we have uh uh 12 teams in the hoofcast.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: You play 22 games all season without a video, and all of a sudden you get into playoffs and shit becomes important, and you get a video.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: Like challenge it.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: What happened to challenge it?
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but yeah, but I can't I no no I'm no no I'm I'm I'm in complete agreement with you on it.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: Is in like that we went from we went from 70 minute matches to 60 minute matches for the playoffs.
- 8:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you've done that right now.
- 8:40SPEAKER_02: Why yeah?
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: I think that's so yeah, it's they're both equally it's it's both equally stupid.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I I agree with Brent.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Like it's it's it's I get that that there's like more cameras available at playoffs, and I get that you can't, but then don't do it in playoffs and vote because because like if you miss playoffs because a referee gives a corner when it wasn't a corner or whatever, like why should there be an advantage in the playoffs?
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: Like uh, and I think if I had to vote on it, I would I would still want there to be video at playoffs, and if you have the opportunity there, because it can it can win you a game or it can at least give you another opportunity to win a game.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, yeah, there's like I I think it's such a big it it now like I I think Blumenau uh and also credit like uh a lot of credit to Rotterdam because they actually went in Blumendao uh 1-3-1 when there were two one down.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: I think it's a massive, massive uh uh achievement, and they actually did really well.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: Uh I saw Justin Block literally throw his body on the line uh uh to save corners and shit, and it was actually really a fucking impressive what blue what Rotterdam did.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: Uh so big ups to them, but I think the whole game changes um because video has such a big influence on your game, if if you have it or not.
- 9:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think I think to to go into more detail about what's actually happened is also today we're recording on the Sunday evening, and um Campong have just beat Rotterdam in the final um and Denboss uh has beaten SCHC in the women's final, just to uh keep nice and equal.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: Um, I would say across all of the games and across all of the semi-finals and the final, uh, I've tuned in a little bit.
- 10:27SPEAKER_02: I haven't tuned in that much, but like I watched the highlights.
- 10:30SPEAKER_02: The the atmosphere, the passion, the the cameras, the everything has been absolutely unreal.
- 10:36SPEAKER_02: And and something that I don't think I've seen for the last few years.
- 10:39SPEAKER_02: You can maybe correct me if I'm wrong.
- 10:41SPEAKER_02: OR was unreal.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: I saw Rostam yesterday for their final, was incredible.
- 10:47SPEAKER_02: Campong today when they won.
- 10:49SPEAKER_02: Uh they they won in the last minute.
- 10:51SPEAKER_02: Yip Jansen proven again he's an absolute clutch flicker.
- 10:55SPEAKER_02: Um, and he's there, and there's there's thousands of fans, I think over five and a half thousand fans in Campong going absolutely crazy.
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: Um, it's amazing for for our sport, but especially like again, as we always say, the Netherlands just showcasing hockey in its best light.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, last year I think Pinokay also as well did a really good job.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: Um, they also had their their stands or their entire club completely full, completely packed out.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: I think that's what makes playoff hockey in Holland so good.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: Because uh, as I said last week or two weeks ago, it's such a big happening in Holland.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: Um and like clubs are really that's why clubs really are really eager to get to playoffs because it's always uh a big income as well, because there's like heaps of people there to to buy shit and stuff.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but I think I think uh I think to be honest, I think um the the the right club won.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: I think Kampong uh did did very well second half of the season and actually uh um did very well.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: And I think, yeah, again, as you said, Phil uh Yip Jansen.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah, it's the definition of clutch.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: Yes, yeah, I think they they had they did have a lot of corners, they had like nine or eight, nine or ten corners, but at the moment he had to flick it, uh he flicked it in, and it was quite quite uh convincing what uh Kampong did.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: It it still hurts me quite a lot because I felt like we didn't really um that's we say we weren't less.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you say uh what's the correct English word, but I felt like we really had a chance to win against Kampong.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: Like uh 5-2 doesn't seem like it was close, but I felt it was closer than that.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: Uh and now they're actually champions, so that kind of kind of hurts.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: But uh congrats to them.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: I I I have a thing.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: Like I it really annoys me that we don't do in the UK where you have a two-leg semi-final or a two-leg final.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: Like, I think that makes such like a big difference for like playoff games because it gives clubs the opportunity to obviously host.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: Like, as Rope said, like the atmosphere's looked unreal, like better than any pro league fixtures, like anything like that.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: There just seems a lot more passion from like the club side of things in Holland.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't know why other I think Belgium is the only other place where they do it, um, where they've got two-legg games.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: Like, I think that makes such a difference for like for that kind of end of the season where you give teams like even if they fuck it up on one day, like the better team normally comes out on top after two games.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: Like, it's very, very rare that the better like the worst team goes through.
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: So I think like other leagues could probably learn a thing or two off it because I think it's such a better way to do it.
- 13:21SPEAKER_02: Agreed.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: Well, Rotterdam, Rottenham, Blumenau actually, the the worst team got through, to be honest.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: I think Rottenham did incredibly well.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: Uh, I think with between Camp and Ryan Roth, it was a bit of a uh a coin flip uh with 60 campo 40 of Ryan Road, but I think uh Blumenau Rottenham, if you play that that fixture uh three times more, I think Blumenau would win three times.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: Uh but I think yeah, yeah, I I get what you mean.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: I think the better team almost always uh goes through.
- 13:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um, and I guess moving on, it's we've uh I think done a fairly comprehensive job there.
- 13:55SPEAKER_02: The couple of bits of news uh for everyone is that I've I've seen today that the Olympics of uh in hockey they've changed back to um a just a 16-man squad and not being able to sub in the two reserves.
- 14:11SPEAKER_02: Um and so that that rule where it's always been a 16-man for the Olympics, but for Tokyo they relaxed it because of COVID and etc.
- 14:20SPEAKER_02: But they've announced that they're they're sticking with the 16 and that the reserves are reserves uh only in case of injury and someone coming in fully, not not being able to sub in.
- 14:30SPEAKER_02: Um probably a good decision, I think.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean it's pretty it it's it makes the tournament a hell of a lot harder.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: Um, but uh at the end of the day, it's the biggest tournament we've got in the in the whole calendar, so I think it's I think it's fair.
- 14:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and um pro league is back up and running.
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: We've um just experienced today another Ireland win in the men's side over Belgium, which is pretty pretty crazy that they've done the double over Belgium in Belgium.
- 14:59SPEAKER_02: Um if anyone's watching it, it's on VT Sport or whatever it's called, TNT now in England.
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: Um they're doing a pretty good job.
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: I mean, I always find it slightly disappointing that no one goes to watch anyone when when it's in Belgium, no one goes to watch apart from when it's Belgium.
- 15:17SPEAKER_02: But they're obviously very patriotic.
- 15:19SPEAKER_02: Um but yeah, what do you what are your takes?
- 15:21SPEAKER_02: Have you watched some of the games, guys?
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, I've watched I've watched most of the games, both men's and women's.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: Um it's interesting that all teams seem to be trying out different people at the moment.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: Um obviously with the Olympics around the corner and selection coming up, I think quite a lot of teams are looking at different variations.
- 15:38SPEAKER_01: Um I know Shane O'Donahue was on his honeymoon and then came back in for the latest two games.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: So we'd missed the first two.
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: So from like that point of view, there's also players being wrested and things like that.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: So from that point of view, it's quite interesting to obviously see the results and teams not necessarily playing with their strongest teams.
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: Um, but nonetheless, results like that are pretty important, I think, for one momentum, but two, also it gives a little indication of where some teams are at, with Ireland clearly re ready and raring to go, and Belgium seems to just be slowly warming up.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: Um so from that point of view, it'll be quite interesting to see how they come in the next four games.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: Ireland isn't isn't isn't in the Olympics, right?
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they beat Korea, they beat Korea in the third fourth to qualify from Valencia.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, fair.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: Oh, they're they are in.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, that's yeah, they're they're not fair.
- 16:33SPEAKER_01: But it's interesting, it's it's interesting because Ireland, Ireland's first game in the Olympics is Belgium.
- 16:39SPEAKER_01: So I think that's quite interesting going in with two wins off the back.
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: I think it'll be quite interesting from that point of view.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but if I've and that and I I I do agree with you, Brynn.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: I think they they do have an one another number, but that I think it's never bad to win twice in a row against Belgium.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: But I do think Belgium are like they're so fucking experienced.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: I saw Luis van Doreen play this 300th 300th cap or Luis van Doreen and Luik Leipath.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: Play this 300th cap.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: I think if they play with their full squad, they have like uh uh 7,000 caps on the field.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: Uh bit exaggerated, but like it's it's incredible, ridiculous, yeah.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: That's the dangerous thing with Belgium, with which can also uh work in a bad way for them, but they can just turn it on whenever they have to.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: And I feel like they're just everyone's coming back from competition, they're just not not.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: I don't think they'll they'll they'll they'll get out of bed too keen to get to play a game against Ireland in the pro league.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: Nothing there's nothing to Ireland, but it's more uh a knock on Belgium.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: I feel like they're still if they're in an Olympics and they're fit and they want to go, I feel like they can still turn it on.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: That's the dangerous thing about that team, which which works for them, but also can work against them.
- 17:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:49SPEAKER_02: I'm reading into it slightly more new are you.
- 17:51SPEAKER_02: I think um having watched it and they did a couple of zoom ins in the second game in like the third quarter or the start of the fourth quarter, and they look like they look fairly miserable and um not not like they've always had this air of like confidence slash arrogance when like they don't really care about you, but they still, if you if you rewind three, four years, they'd still pump the f the hell out of Ireland and suddenly and even though they're missing yeah, three, three, four players, they still had a very strong squad and they were clearly trying and they were being miserable, and they got outworked and outclassed by a very very pretty good island team.
- 18:32SPEAKER_02: I would be there wouldn't be alarm bells if I was in that camp, but I wouldn't be buzzing, like you've still got incredible players, um, and and you want to start to to build, like Brendan's saying, and uh getting pumped.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a good thing.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: I think it's just I think I think it's just quite interesting because those four teams are all in the same group.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: So I think like it's it's always interesting when I think teams going into big tournaments such as Olympics World Cup, where you've got games against nations that you're realistically playing against.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: Like, do you show everything, do you hold stuff back, or do you just go out and try and just get as much momentum as you can?
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: Like, I think there's so many different ways that coaches and players will both view these games, and I think it's like just really interesting to see from the outside looking it at it.
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: Like, as Rope says, like you can read into it as much as you want, or you can just completely ignore it, and it's just a few games, and people are just trying to get tournament ready.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: Like, I think it's just quite interesting the way it's panning out.
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, yeah, yeah.
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: Well, I know I know it's I know it's on on everybody's mind, and I know it's it's especially as you said, uh, because that there's teams there who are all in each other's pool.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: You don't want to show too much.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: I know Belgium had had had uh shootouts or shuffles as you guys call it against India.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: Uh, like what are you going to show in that?
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: I know like Artou van Doreen, uh Artur van Dora Artur de Slover in my squad uh and Pi Min like we practice shuffles quite quite often at our club, but like Art of Artur de Slova is also telling to me, yeah, am I going to show my best shootout now?
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: Because yeah, if we might face you guys in the quarter or semi or final, and then then Pi Min knows what I'm going to do or what what I what I hate.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: So it it's a weird if we we already had it at training.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: I know, especially the Belgian team who are very calculated in everything they do, and I know their coach Michel van der Heuvel and Shane.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, they they they they do everything with thought.
- 20:23SPEAKER_00: So I I think they they they are holding their cards close to their chest if that makes sense.
- 20:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and it and it's on it's understandable, isn't it?
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: Like the end of the day, that's that's the other thing.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: Like, I know you talked about the playing's the players have got that much experience, but then you look at their staff as well, the amount of experience they've got in that staff grouping is like something that also when it comes to tournament hockey, they're a different team, I think.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: So yeah, it'll be interesting to see.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and the thing with the thing with this with these with these things is always that you can in in hindsight, you can say, uh, yeah, they just didn't give a shit and they got away with an Olympic medal when time really mattered, they stepped up, uh, like like like it happened uh three years ago.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: And when we thought we had the upper hand when we became uh European champion, we thought, oh, we're so good, and then we went into Tokyo and ended up being 52nd in the Olympics, um, and Belgium were third to play the shit tournament in Bel in in Holland and actually end up winning it.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, in hindsight, you will say, Okay, they didn't really didn't have momentum and they played shit, or they just saved themselves for Olympics.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, I don't think you can speak too much about it.
- 21:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right.
- 21:27SPEAKER_02: Let's let's let's move it on.
- 21:29SPEAKER_02: What guys, guys, what would you like?
- 21:30SPEAKER_02: Would you like to start with some questions or some memories?
- 21:33SPEAKER_02: Either you're you're the boss, Philip.
- 21:35SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 21:36SPEAKER_02: We'll we'll go with um we'll do with some questions.
- 21:41SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 21:41SPEAKER_02: First of all, I've written memories.
- 21:46SPEAKER_02: No, we're doing questions.
- 21:49SPEAKER_02: I'll have a I'll I'll have a dick off with you.
- 21:51SPEAKER_02: We're doing questions.
- 21:53SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: I don't want to be involved in a dick off.
- 21:57SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 21:58SPEAKER_02: I wrote some questions down.
- 21:59SPEAKER_02: Um Um, I'll I'll I guess I'll dip in, but I'm mainly asking them because I'm the question master and noob size.
- 22:05SPEAKER_02: Is there anyone you would really like to listen to this podcast?
- 22:09SPEAKER_02: Is there any like one you'd be like, oh, that'd be really cool if they listen to this podcast?
- 22:13SPEAKER_02: Try and be a bit realistic.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: You can't just be like what go on.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: Can't can't just be like, no, oh sorry, realist.
- 22:21SPEAKER_01: No, oh I was I was going a bit more serious.
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: I was going FIH president.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: That's a good one.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: To be honest, I hope he doesn't listen.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: Why I I I hope to be honest, I really hope I would, I would be, I would be happy if like Niklas Weller would listen because I give him a lot of credit, and he maybe he would one day think, oh you're actually a nice guy.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: I'm come to coming to R and make them champions.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: That would be really nice.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: So I hope Nicholas.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: I hope Niklas Weller listens.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: And I hope I hope uh uh like a really good coach who is coaching the hockey India League is listening.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: He he hears that I'm I'm I'm I'm keen and I want at least 50,000 euros to come there, and he thinks, oh you know what, he's a shit hockey player, but at least he's a funny guy.
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: Let's bring him on the UP Wizards.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: So those are the two people I hope.
- 23:16SPEAKER_02: Love it.
- 23:17SPEAKER_02: The the the only problem is, yeah, we're not we're not showcassing our showcasing our hockey on this pod, are we?
- 23:22SPEAKER_02: If anything, we're probably doing ourselves disservice.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: Hence my my answer, Phil.
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: He's might be a shit hockey player, but he's at least a funny guy, and I need some morale on my team, so I'll bring up you more.
- 23:33SPEAKER_02: Okay, who who wouldn't you want to listen to this pod?
- 23:35SPEAKER_02: Because I think I know the answer to this for you.
- 23:38SPEAKER_02: All French and Indian hockey players and people.
- 23:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because if any Indian bosses or if the Ruckela guy loves you and he starts listening to this pod, he's definitely not bidding for you anymore, is he?
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, or or people who are who are involved at the English uh hockey federation.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: Because I always also kind of nudge them a little bit.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: But imagine if we went out to uh different teams, for example, we were at the India League, we'd become the new non-up in here, would we not?
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, kinda, I think so.
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: I think we I think we would at least be um yeah, people would would think, oh, that's those guys who like spoke about us a lot.
- 24:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then it might grow off to be fair, it might grow our following.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: You never know, it might work out quite well.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there's no such thing as bad publicity, is there?
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: Well, maybe for us.
- 24:34SPEAKER_02: Um what next question what hockey player or coach would you like on the podcast?
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: I just I just put any Aussie.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: I think any Aussie would make it quite entertaining because they tell it pretty straight.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: Um so I think they'd be pretty good.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: I'd also like to all the people that we've ever voted for in the categories that they may not have been happy with.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: I'd quite like to get them on.
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: So like the Grand Bush boys, I think they'd be quite entertaining to have on.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, I'd just quite like to see it.
- 25:02SPEAKER_01: I think Calnan would be quite entertaining to have on.
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, basically anyone we've given an award to just to see if they won, they accept it.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: And if not, great, let's talk it out.
- 25:11SPEAKER_01: Amit Roadas.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 25:14SPEAKER_01: That man will run through a wall for anyone.
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: Uh he's in, even in my book.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: Although getting him still on a podcast would be quite difficult, I reckon.
- 25:21SPEAKER_01: He'd be like the next, he'd be like our fourth host, I think.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: That'd be the that'd be the dream.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: If we like if we became like the new nan up in here for like the Indian Hockey League, he would be a great fourth person to have as as he would increase our following like three fourfold, it'd be unreal.
- 25:41SPEAKER_02: We got the form for the Hockey India League this week, and I feel like all three of us, if we're entering it, should note down at the end that we our request is to be picked with the other two just for podcast purposes.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: Mine's really hurt our chances though, like one of three.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: If they don't like one of three, which odds are really big that they don't like either me or Brendan.
- 26:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Phil, I feel Phil, I feel you're helping my chances, but I'm hurting yours.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: Right, but uh, Yup, have you got anyone you'd like on the pod?
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'd like well on the pod, I would like to get um Craig Fulton, yeah, coach of India.
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: I think he's he's one, he's a really good guy.
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: I always uh uh get along with him quite well, and I think I would like to know get get the full what it's like to be coach of India with all the the the chaos, the hectic, and being living in India for 24-7, or at least like a long time.
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: So that would be, and I think you had a good one with Tom Grambush.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: I would really like Tom Grambush on the pot.
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: Or um I don't know his I think his Masson, the French midfielder.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: Um like he seems like kind of a dick.
- 26:55SPEAKER_00: So I hope he's uh he maybe he's a really nice guy.
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: I don't know, but he he comes across like a bit of an arrogant prick, so maybe he maybe he's really nice in in in real life.
- 27:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, also I feel like we should we should make this our our aim for the next season is to just get Tom Grambush on because I think he would be absolutely phenomenal.
- 27:16SPEAKER_02: I think he would be amazing, right?
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: I don't think he I don't think he wants to come on, but he would be amazing.
- 27:22SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 27:23SPEAKER_02: Uh one we haven't done this in ages, but I wanted a kind of quick fire overrated, underrated player from about both of you.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: I I actually don't have one.
- 27:32SPEAKER_01: I genuinely don't have one.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: I sat there for 45 minutes and I genuinely couldn't come up with one that we haven't done before.
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: Okay, so underrated.
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: I'm having uh Nick Park and Justin Block.
- 27:46SPEAKER_02: God, you love Nick Park.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I do like Nick Park.
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: He seems like a really good guy, and he's a really good hockey player.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: So I think I feel those two are uh underrated, uh overrated.
- 27:59SPEAKER_00: Um I think um Victor became a little bit overrated.
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: I feel like he was really, really good uh a couple years ago, but I feel like he's like not declined, but like he's people think of him as like the best midfielder in the world.
- 28:17SPEAKER_00: I don't think he's dead, he's unreal.
- 28:19SPEAKER_00: Would like love him to have him on my team, but I don't think he's as good as he used to be.
- 28:23SPEAKER_02: Um I should you not uh you you uh you took mine.
- 28:27SPEAKER_02: You took mine.
- 28:28SPEAKER_02: Oh, really?
- 28:29SPEAKER_02: Just to add to that, I was gonna say, just because I've been watching recently, I think he has incredible game awareness.
- 28:35SPEAKER_02: But I I just um he understands where he should be, how he should pass, what he should do.
- 28:41SPEAKER_02: I just think sometimes that he's maybe um not as technically gifted as people think he is, so he understands exactly how to play the game, he's very he's he's an incredible player.
- 28:52SPEAKER_02: But I was like watching him a few times and I'm like, yeah, maybe he's maybe he's uh not as good as people make him out to be.
- 28:58SPEAKER_02: I agree you.
- 29:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, I think I kind of had the same thing with him, and um that's that that's why.
- 29:06SPEAKER_00: And I feel maybe I'm gonna poke the bear a little bit.
- 29:11SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna say uh Zach Wallace, overrated.
- 29:15SPEAKER_00: I hope I know I know he listens, so I wanna so I wanna uh uh I might even might even might even poke the bear and I'm gonna regret it in a couple months' time when we play you guys at Olympics.
- 29:28SPEAKER_00: But he he he did he he did not show his best uh when it met at Blumendau.
- 29:34SPEAKER_00: And I've I played many times against him when he was really, really good, and I I had to look at his heels more than I'd wish.
- 29:42SPEAKER_00: Uh but uh I feel like he uh wasn't um and I feel like he would agree with me that he wasn't uh the best in the playoffs.
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: So uh I hope I give him uh that little bit of an affire into pro league, and then he feels very good about himself and he shit at the Olympics again.
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: That's my take.
- 29:59SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 30:00SPEAKER_02: Wow, I love the poking of the bear.
- 30:04SPEAKER_02: Is that the same for is that the same for Jorit?
- 30:08SPEAKER_00: No, Jorot is awesome because Jorit's a national team.
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: My team is amazing.
- 30:14SPEAKER_00: No, fuck me.
- 30:15SPEAKER_00: I don't know, I don't didn't know how who to choose.
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: Like uh Zach Wallace.
- 30:19SPEAKER_00: That's fine.
- 30:19SPEAKER_00: Um everyone thinks he's top three, but he's actually top five in the world.
- 30:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you that's my thing.
- 30:24SPEAKER_02: I appreciate I appreciate you going for it.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: I like I like the fact that um you've you've stuck some names out there.
- 30:32SPEAKER_02: Thank you, Brendan.
- 30:34SPEAKER_02: Come on.
- 30:35SPEAKER_01: I got no interest in that shit.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: That was me completely abstaining from that question.
- 30:42SPEAKER_02: Brendan told me that he thought Payno is overrated.
- 30:46SPEAKER_02: You heard it here first.
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: No, Payna, we give you way too much credit for yeah.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: Okay, you get way too much credit for being in goalie.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: And second, second, I still love you.
- 30:55SPEAKER_00: I don't think you're a shit at all.
- 30:59SPEAKER_02: Okay, we're taking a break.
- 31:01SPEAKER_02: See ya.
- 31:06SPEAKER_02: Okay, and we're back.
- 31:07SPEAKER_02: We're gonna do a couple more questions and then move on to some memories.
- 31:10SPEAKER_02: So, last couple of questions.
- 31:12SPEAKER_02: What's the best and worst part of an international match day?
- 31:17SPEAKER_00: I'll let you go first.
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: You yeah, oh, thank you, Brendan.
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: So I okay, uh, that's really nice of you for me to go for the worst thing about it.
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: Well, um, sometimes the the matches internationally are like really late, so you play at like nine at night, and the day takes ages uh to finally get to the match, uh, which I hate.
- 31:40SPEAKER_00: Uh, and sometimes, and that's like I'm uh you guys have probably the same.
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: Well, we play pro league, so we were like in um India to play eight games, you chances are you're gonna sit one out, and then the moment you hear you're sitting it out, you immediately check out as well.
- 31:57SPEAKER_00: So, like the day takes even longer than it than it usually does.
- 32:01SPEAKER_00: So the moment I get to hear yeah, you'll be not playing tonight, I'm like, okay, day is over.
- 32:06SPEAKER_00: Like, and there's like, especially when you're in India, which I like I love India, but it takes fucking ages for a day to finish.
- 32:16SPEAKER_02: I was thinking more specifically, like, I I hate the the like two hours before a match, because normally there's a meeting in there, normally there's like I've got a lot of energy to burn, but you know you shouldn't burn energy, and there's just the the general like waiting, the general like try and look busy or like in the change room beforehand, like we get there 45 minutes early before we warm up.
- 32:43SPEAKER_02: I'm like, well, now I'm a bit older, so I have to do my like mobility and stuff, but like once I've done that, I'm like try and be focused, and a lot of the time I'm not focused at all.
- 32:53SPEAKER_02: You just like I could watch a fly walking around the room, or it's like a goldfish.
- 32:57SPEAKER_02: But like I I it's really hard in that moment because you just all you want to do is play, all you want to do is get on the pitch, and you have to time seems to go so slow.
- 33:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I agree with both of you.
- 33:11SPEAKER_01: I think my my bit is like similar to you's like when you finish the game and it's 11:30 at night, and there's the SNC staff and they're just throwing ice into a fucking bin or whatever we're using for ice baths, that just gets me so angry.
- 33:26SPEAKER_01: Just so angry.
- 33:27SPEAKER_01: I don't want to ice bath at half 11 at night, 12 o'clock at night.
- 33:30SPEAKER_01: But you might not do this, but we do this.
- 33:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's that's like a rig 2020, but okay.
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then and then the work and then the hardest bit I think is when you get back to the hotel, you then meant it, obviously, eat a meal to like obviously replenish yourself and recover.
- 33:47SPEAKER_01: I just have no interest in eating that late and then trying to sleep afterwards, like it's about two, three o'clock before you're asleep.
- 33:54SPEAKER_01: Like, I just think it's such a long day.
- 33:56SPEAKER_02: I have no issue with any of them things.
- 33:59SPEAKER_02: I kind of like an ice bath, I like eating, and I normally go to sleep like a baby, no matter what's happened.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: You're you're infuriating to share with on that front, Phil.
- 34:08SPEAKER_01: Because I'm just sat there, I'm just I'm just scrolling through YouTube at fucking half one in the morning, and you are passed out of sleep.
- 34:15SPEAKER_01: Normally snoring listening to fucking Ricky Gervais.
- 34:19SPEAKER_02: Sometimes Stephen Fry and Harry Potter.
- 34:21SPEAKER_02: That's that's yeah, sometimes, yeah.
- 34:22SPEAKER_02: So, but also, what's the best part though?
- 34:25SPEAKER_02: Because I think the main one is like go like if it's a tournament, especially if it's a tournament, waking up on a game day when you've been waiting for it for like weeks and weeks, it's a nice feeling.
- 34:36SPEAKER_02: Where like you walk down for breakfast and everyone's like there, and you're like you're looking at each other like it's actually game day, it's actually cool.
- 34:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's pretty good.
- 34:45SPEAKER_01: The first game day vibe is so good because you're like you're almost to the point where you're just like bored of the training, this, that, and the other.
- 34:52SPEAKER_01: Like you've all you just wait and do is count it down the days, and then it finally arrives.
- 34:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, I'm not I'm not never almost at the point of being bored of training.
- 35:00SPEAKER_00: I'm always at the point of being bored of the first day of game day.
- 35:03SPEAKER_00: I'm always like, that's also what I hate.
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: The final training before game day.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: Oh, good luck.
- 35:09SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's it it never goes the way you want it to.
- 35:12SPEAKER_00: No, and you're always trying just to stay to stay to stay uh healthy.
- 35:16SPEAKER_00: You don't want to get hurt, you don't want to get like a ball on your finger, which is like which doesn't end your tournament, but the whole tournament your finger hurts.
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: Like that's what you want to avoid.
- 35:27SPEAKER_00: And it's like, yeah, just be sharp.
- 35:29SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna put the engine on or whatever, whatever, whatever.
- 35:31SPEAKER_00: I just I don't like it.
- 35:32SPEAKER_00: The f the final training because no everyone plays shit.
- 35:35SPEAKER_00: It's always a shit, it's always a shit trading.
- 35:38SPEAKER_00: It's always always plays well.
- 35:41SPEAKER_02: Four people get angry at least because they're expecting like they're gonna turn into turn denoyer, and they just turn out that they're themselves.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: Normally that's and it always makes me question it always makes me question whether we whether we what what we did all summer to be this shit, you know.
- 35:57SPEAKER_00: I'm always like, oh fuck, we're in big trouble for this tournament.
- 36:01SPEAKER_00: I think there's not there's there has not been one tournament where where we had the final training, and I thought, we are ready.
- 36:07SPEAKER_00: Like I'm almost like, oh fuck, if we if this is the level we're gonna bring, we're we're fucked.
- 36:12SPEAKER_02: I'll tell you who the best guy is for that, and we had him on last week is Amesy.
- 36:16SPEAKER_02: Is he's like the the he's like some kind of freak robot person, but like everyone else is fucked off, and he normally like gets everyone in and he's like, That's it's okay, you can be shit.
- 36:29SPEAKER_02: It doesn't matter.
- 36:30SPEAKER_02: I've been here for 25 years, we're always shit now.
- 36:36SPEAKER_02: I'm now 45.
- 36:37SPEAKER_02: I know I've been doing the episode right.
- 36:41SPEAKER_02: Let's move on to some memories because we've we've been very serious.
- 36:44SPEAKER_02: Let's let's get on to some memories.
- 36:46SPEAKER_02: I my first question for both of you was what what's your best memory and your and a good and bad memory of uh each of us, so with the other person.
- 36:56SPEAKER_02: So like I don't mind going.
- 36:58SPEAKER_02: Do you want me to go first or do you guys want to go?
- 37:01SPEAKER_01: You can go first.
- 37:02SPEAKER_00: Oh, you're you're on a roll.
- 37:03SPEAKER_02: Go first.
- 37:05SPEAKER_02: So it's quite easy with um Brendan because I because I've it's been too many memories with him.
- 37:12SPEAKER_02: I think I'm just gonna choose some recent ones is that a good memory is um us.
- 37:21SPEAKER_02: We we worked out that um in 2017 when we roomed together that we could shout Harry Potter quotes at each other, um and we it would instantly uh enthuse and enjoy and like give the other person joy.
- 37:36SPEAKER_02: And so we spent the whole time like shouting eat slugs at each other and had a really, really good time.
- 37:42SPEAKER_02: We also had a putting mat in our room that we made a seven-hole golf course out of.
- 37:46SPEAKER_02: That was unreal.
- 37:47SPEAKER_02: That was that was some good memories.
- 37:49SPEAKER_02: Um we had we had so we even had a Ken on the course, if anyone knows what that is, with Mark Bleghorn, which was fantastic.
- 37:58SPEAKER_02: Um a bad memory is um me booting Brendan to the ground in training about six months ago.
- 38:04SPEAKER_02: That was um that was a bad memory.
- 38:08SPEAKER_02: Have we done this on the pod or not?
- 38:10SPEAKER_02: I think we did discuss it.
- 38:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean we don't want to go over it, but Brendan tried to block me out with the high L.
- 38:18SPEAKER_02: Say again.
- 38:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we did discuss the you booting Brendan.
- 38:22SPEAKER_00: We did discuss it, but it it's I I can imagine it's a bad memory too.
- 38:26SPEAKER_00: Such a gentle soul as Brendan to boot him down.
- 38:29SPEAKER_00: I feel that's yeah, that's bad.
- 38:31SPEAKER_01: I thought we were gonna have an I thought we were gonna have another one on Wednesday.
- 38:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we almost had another one.
- 38:35SPEAKER_02: Brendan went for another block, but this time I went for a friendlier but still angry shove.
- 38:41SPEAKER_02: And um, he was like, What are you doing, raising your arms?
- 38:43SPEAKER_02: And I was like, Would you prefer me to boot you?
- 38:45SPEAKER_02: And he was like, No, and I was like, Well, there you go then.
- 38:48SPEAKER_02: And then we walked off.
- 38:52SPEAKER_00: The thing is though, Brendan, I feel like if you guys were to end up uh in a cage to fight, I feel like you would take Phil.
- 39:00SPEAKER_00: I feel like you're way stronger than Phil.
- 39:02SPEAKER_00: But I feel like he he like he mentally has one up on you, but you would fucking take the piss out of him.
- 39:09SPEAKER_01: I think you bang, I think you bang on.
- 39:12SPEAKER_01: I'm just calm.
- 39:13SPEAKER_01: I'm just calm in this stuff, and then I panic and go really high-pitched at some point, but for the time being, calm.
- 39:19SPEAKER_02: Brendan Brendan's a diffuser, he doesn't want any of the uh he doesn't want any of the bad stuff.
- 39:24SPEAKER_02: No, I don't I don't enjoy the bad stuff.
- 39:26SPEAKER_02: I also had a really fun one this week with James Gall where he tried to get me sent off and I told him where to go.
- 39:33SPEAKER_02: He went all Spanish on me in training.
- 39:36SPEAKER_02: He's like, it's like that's a car dumps.
- 39:38SPEAKER_02: And I was like, go fuck yourself, Jammer.
- 39:45SPEAKER_02: Um, does someone else want to go so I don't keep monologuing and then I'll come back to you?
- 39:50SPEAKER_01: Oh, you should go I'll go.
- 39:51SPEAKER_01: I actually don't have a bad one with you, which is really frustrating.
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: Um, because I don't have any bad memories then.
- 39:58SPEAKER_01: Um what about any time he's got you on the closet in the last two years?
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: No, I don't see that as bad memories.
- 40:04SPEAKER_01: I think that's funny.
- 40:05SPEAKER_01: Um one thing I will say is like one thing I I massively appreciated was obviously like the World Cup didn't necessarily go the way we both wanted it to, and we both had like quite a like we chatted quite a bit about it, um, which I was actually like I really appreciate from an individual point of view, but also the fact that I and I kind of got to know you more from that.
- 40:28SPEAKER_01: Um which obviously in the circumstances wasn't exactly the best for both of us.
- 40:34SPEAKER_01: Um, but what I'd massively appreciate was the fact that it's one of those journeys that we could share because we were in a similar boat, um, which I think is quite unique.
- 40:41SPEAKER_01: I don't think you get that very often.
- 40:43SPEAKER_01: Elite sport, opposite nations.
- 40:45SPEAKER_01: Like I think there's quite a lot of things that wouldn't necessarily allow that to happen.
- 40:49SPEAKER_01: Um but actually I'd massively appreciate that uh from an individual point of view.
- 40:54SPEAKER_01: Um and then for you, Phil, I actually had a real flashback.
- 40:59SPEAKER_01: Our first ever tournament that we played when we were eight and nine, uh our regional tournaments when we were under 14, me and Phil, we were eight and nine.
- 41:08SPEAKER_01: We were at Millfield School.
- 41:10SPEAKER_01: We'd set up, we had a mini rugby ball, and we'd set up posts on one of the walls, and we were having kicking competitions from one room to another room.
- 41:20SPEAKER_01: Um, that's one of my like first memories of tournament hockey with you.
- 41:24SPEAKER_01: Uh we created indoor warm-ups when we decided it was too cold to go outside, so we started just running around changing rooms.
- 41:30SPEAKER_01: That was elite as well.
- 41:31SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, I I mean I reckon we're over 20, maybe 30 tournaments together.
- 41:38unknown: Yeah.
- 41:39SPEAKER_01: Which I think is pretty which I think is pretty wild, both from like regional, like from uh district to international.
- 41:47SPEAKER_01: I think that's a pretty crazy stat.
- 41:49SPEAKER_01: Um so I think we've had a fair few.
- 41:52SPEAKER_01: They've not necessarily gone our way, and some have gone our way, and I think that's quite I think that's pretty cool.
- 41:57SPEAKER_01: Um bad memories.
- 41:59SPEAKER_02: Well come back, Brent.
- 42:00SPEAKER_02: You can come back because we'll go to go to you.
- 42:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I have some bad memories about um like uh I actually really appreciate it, uh Brendan, with like what he just said.
- 42:13SPEAKER_00: I I I think that's I I I completely agree, and to me, it's uh to me it's similar.
- 42:18SPEAKER_00: I feel like we kind of that was like a uh bonding time for us because we were both um in the dumpster.
- 42:26SPEAKER_00: Um, I do have some negative thoughts about Philip.
- 42:29SPEAKER_00: Um I've given uh and I've spoken to to to Phil and uh David last week about this, like that I've given my heart and soul, my everything, all that I had I gave to to him and David, but we're now talking about Philip, and that after a year of me uh taking him, Nicole, Indy, uh under my wing, that he uh said, Well, thanks for that, but I'm off.
- 42:52SPEAKER_00: Fuck you, Yup.
- 42:53SPEAKER_00: You're a you're you're a nonce.
- 42:55SPEAKER_00: And uh that I yeah, that that was kind of that kind of hurt.
- 42:58SPEAKER_00: Uh so that's like a bad memory of with with Phil.
- 43:02SPEAKER_00: Uh also a bad memory with Phil was the first practice game we played um at OR.
- 43:07SPEAKER_00: It was like Abian Umbro Cup.
- 43:09SPEAKER_00: Uh I actually threw a couple aerials to Phil.
- 43:12SPEAKER_00: I passed in the ball.
- 43:13SPEAKER_00: He didn't get a lot of balls because he didn't know where to run.
- 43:15SPEAKER_00: And he missed every aerial ball.
- 43:17SPEAKER_00: And I thought, I thought we would we were getting a really good midfielder or like a mid-attacking midfielder, something we've been lacking.
- 43:23SPEAKER_00: He didn't trap any ball, and I thought, oh, I did so much uh work to get this fucking Englishman.
- 43:30SPEAKER_00: He asked for so much money, and now he's so shit.
- 43:34SPEAKER_00: So that's that's what really that was a bad memory.
- 43:38SPEAKER_00: And the good memory is uh I have a couple good ones that he actually performed really well at OR and he was he was actually quite good.
- 43:45SPEAKER_00: Uh a good memory was as well when I when I told him to shut the fuck up during a game when he was like yelling at the ref and doing the rope.
- 43:52SPEAKER_00: And I said, Phil, shut the fuck up and just play.
- 43:54SPEAKER_00: And it felt like I felt like a really big boy, and Phil actually took it quite vogue, also because he was like, I think.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: was a bit starstruck as not like starstruck but like it was like okay what the fuck just happened like this this this this this very thin uh ginger uh fuck face is just yelled at me and i didn't really know how to respond and also what i really liked was the the the con the confrontations with uh england or with gb when i called brendan um i called brandon a little bitch for diving in his own corner to not to his face but to other people in his team i said oh brandon is such a bitch and then all the guys were like yeah he is right that was really funny and then i called Phil um uh I said come at me bitch or something like that and he actually didn't come at me and he dribbled the ball over the sideline which I thought was really funny so yeah those that those were my best memories sorry for the monologue but that's that's me there was so many good ones didn't even know where to start also well I mean on the aerial thing that did happen and then our coach horse uh Robert van der Horst spent I shit you not the next three months like at any moment there was a break in training throwing aerials to me and then congratulating me sarcastically when I trapped them which was absolutely fantastic he was always yelling good shot Nicole and Phil hit the ball with this foreign oh yeah that was a fun by the way now that we're talking about that you're uh like Jack Stanley he really listens to the podcast doesn't he posting posting Phil he has the best backend in all of international hockey come on jack you know he hasn't he has a good back end but it's not the best in international hockey right nicole's just overheard you and she's unhappy you coming on the pod or not no she's bottled it she's bottled it she's not happy she she does have a harder hit than me i was that that was okay also yes Jack Stanley I got a lot of shit for that because some stupid post on Instagram from GB hockey it's almost like Ames calling Zach Michael Jordan again it's like Phil Rope's got the best backhand in world hockey no debate on the day oh this the shit I got this week when I spooned every reverse over the bar was tough deserved and by the way uh because if Nicole's angry at me I'm not angry at Nicole because Phil took the executive decision to leave I'm not angry at Nicole I still love Nicole but uh that's what that was a bad memory with Phil.
- 46:33SPEAKER_02: Nicole I still love you no I yeah my main good memories were actually of you looking after us the the whole time we were in Holland um but he's incredibly welcoming and looked after he he showed so much love to Indy when Indy really didn't like him at first and he just continued to show her complete love.
- 47:01SPEAKER_02: Even though now she sees Yip Jansen on the TV and she's like oh you that is pretty good I mean I the memories of now of just the creating ones when we're just he's talking absolute bollocks to me in the middle of quite an important international game is is is great fun as well.
- 47:22SPEAKER_02: Right let's let's move it on a little bit do you have a favorite memory of the pod guys or not?
- 47:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah winning the draft I won I won I won the Indian hockey league draft it wasn't even a competition and I won it well my favorite memory was actually uh I feel like we've we've actually created I'm gonna give us a little compliment I feel I feel like we created some pretty good content I feel like we've done quite well with the three of us for for like two and a half fuck ups that we are I feel like we we've done really well but the surprise I had when when David Ames was on the pod last week when I like I and that's that's that's nowhere near a knock on Brandon but the there was surprise I had when I actually saw Ames's face uh pop up when I saw Brandon was actually a really good surprise um and I'm pretty proud of the I feel like we we've done the FIFA cards I feel like we're a big hit when we did each other's FIFA cards I feel like that was really really funny we we genuinely somebody genuinely printed them off and brought them to Lee Valley for us to sign.
- 48:32SPEAKER_00: It's pretty cool.
- 48:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah I felt I yeah I felt like I felt a bit like a superstar there maybe yeah maybe it's because I'm just not a nice person but all of my favourite memories is watching down the camera when one of you gets on the closet and I have such happiness that one of you is on the closet and how do we keep them there for as long as possible like when you nibbled at Brendan earlier this season with like oh well we won the European Cup and then he got confused as to why we had a goat you that was iconic right um let's do a couple uh what is the best game you've ever played in um European final to be off or I'll give you a choice actually you can either say the best have we done the best goal I feel like we've done the best goal you've ever scored Brendan actually with you've definitely done it and I've definitely done it but Brendan what's the best goal you've ever scored I hope we're talking not internationally you can talk about whenever you want uh oh god I scored one for university which was unreal which was end to end like end to end counterattack from fullback and that's as close as I've ever got to a decent goal at a decent level um I actually had flashbacks um so United won the FA Cup but have you seen the celebrations of the FA Cup?
- 50:13SPEAKER_02: Have you seen the celebrations ropes so at the end of the game Lissandro Martinez grabs picks up Ten Hag like full on picks him up and shakes him like a baby and I thought that is a flashback that I never wanted to remember and unfortunately that came back into my memory um so I'm gonna abstain from the the best goal ever scored I tell you what I'll give you the best card I've ever got the best card I've ever got under 16s we were out in um Spain uh and uh Jason Lee was out there he was out there watching so I like there was the seniors man uh coach at the time um and I was like oh it's a great opportunity to impress this that and the other yeah I'm gonna have a great game loose ball in the midfield uh I too footed a German got sent off for 10 minutes and it was one of the most depressing moments in my career because I was like in the in the classic me I was like I fucked it I'm never playing seniors I'm never doing it I'm just two footed a German in the middle of the pitch you have you got your favorite ever card it's quite a good one yeah I uh we had a practice match and I called a referee a practice match like it what wasn't an official one and I called a referee I said to his face oh you're so fucking arrogant and then he said then he gave me a green card so I had to sit where we got a corner against I was like like getting up to like run out of the corner and then I said ah you're such a fucking you're so fucking arrogant and then he gave me a card I think that's my best card I also got a card because we were with 12 on the field but I couldn't really help it and I was actually counting and I actually went into a conversation with him I started discussing I was it was last season I said to him we're with 11 we're with 11 and then he was like yeah now you are but you weren't when I gave you the card I still debated I think those were my two best cards I think mine is I I um I karate threw James Albury a few years ago like not in as not in as like cool a way as that that sounds but he had hold of my stick and he's he's an he's a good antagonist I was playing for Wimbledon and he had hold of my stick and he let go at the perfect time when I like grabbed him as the ball's coming our way and kind of threw him to my left and then he goes up and he's like take makes an absolute meal of it and then uh the umpire's like that's a yellow card get off you can't you can't throw people and then the very next day I had a I had a meeting with all of the coaches that we have every three months to tell them how your progress was and the first thing the coach was like GB was like oh I came to watch yesterday how's that brown belt coming so he didn't it was it was it wasn't a good throw because he said it was a wasn't even a good belt brown belt what's that brings me on to it what's the biggest piece of shit owsery that you've received yeah it's I'll I'll go for mine I was like it was like my first and might be my second ever national league game so like playing Prem.
- 53:11SPEAKER_01: We're playing against uh I think it was haven't at the time there's a guy called Ben Marsden who ex GB player anyway I'm playing up front at this point because I was a forward when I was younger I stood up front about to lead for a ball next thing I know my pants my shorts around my ankles he's just full on pulled my shorts down as I was about to lead for the ball I've just stacked it so it's like my second game of national league everybody's watched on the sideline and I've stacked it with my shorts around my ankles and it was one of the most depressing moments I've had on a pitch no cards no nothing is it better or worse than Mark Knowles I well Mark Knowles was pretty bad.
- 53:45SPEAKER_00: Get him his fucking shit you I think I said mine but I said way like in I think season two or three uh I was taking a ball at my own um corner and I Mirko Preiser he was uh pressing me and he was like yelling uh uh yeah I see it he's gonna throw a high ball everyone he's throwing a highball and I I wanted to throw a highball but then I didn't want to like give in so I thought okay am I now not going to give a high ball but then he also gets what he wants because like he talked me into throwing a high ball but I but then I was thinking okay but if I now throw a high ball he's right so I was really debating myself while taking the ball might have even happened that that that the referee overturned because I took too long because I was so like a shambles but I think that was yeah and of course the Kelman it didn't happen to me but like in the game I played when Kelnan high five Ballock for scoring uh a goal I feel like is also up there at biggest shit house read that ever uh came across me can I answer with two more bad memories with Brendan is that acceptable yeah sure I'm I'm intrigued to know where this is going well two universities what's the best universe uni once oh god I don't know there's two memories of Brendan than I have they just randomly came to me is it uni ones Brendan was Brendan was um difficult at times for no apparent reason and so we had like an important game and he just rocked up one game and was just like very depressingly was just like I'm just gonna hit reverse sticks today don't care just going to hit reverse sticks today so like like true to his word he gets the ball first thing puts the ball out on his left and he's just like with this backswing the whole time just nails it off the baseline I'm like what the fuck are you doing?
- 55:43SPEAKER_01: And he's like completely ignores me next one like out there on the left and just hurls another one at someone missed trap and I was literally so angry and then the other one was when you were so angry that that you were so upset in a game that you refused to inject the ball so you refused to walk from fullback to come and inject the ball and our second injector was terrible and I was the flicker and so I was like where's Brendan and he's like oh he's just back there I was like why isn't he coming up and he's like he just doesn't want to he's not coming up and I was like for the love of god Brendan and it was too late and then he decided that he would he would not come that reminds me that reminds me of the playoffs when we were playing in the playoffs to come up to the Prem I convinced our coach that I should I I got a green card and I convinced my coach our coach that I should go and play up front I was playing at the back at the time I was like I should go play up front our forwards are struggling straight up first tackle yellow card stick tackle gone ten minutes off she just she was just shaking a head at me just shaking her head in full depression right some some excellent memories very very sporadic but I love it you would you like us to do some most likely two or would you like to go in the coop now I'll give you the choice no let's do most likely two i still we can we can now surprise the listeners that we we're going to do one extra special episode somewhere in July right yeah okay yeah so yeah I I spoiled it yeah we're we're probably going to do but don't take our word for it because you know us but we're probably going to do one more episode somewhere in July we'll have like a really big coup then so I think most likely to is good now it's like a good coop alternative yeah okay right most likely to be the favorite is this between us three yeah most likely to be the favorite sibling Phil you seem like you seem like a really a a kiss ass some brown nose yeah I'm I'm with you I'm with you on that yeah yeah I think like you're a real suck up like just a Brendan is too yeah you're probably I think Brendan is too stupid to know when he should when he's supposed to like suck up yeah I was about to say exact and you're just too stupid yeah I'm completely in agreement yeah I think we are both too stupid to know what we should suck up right thank you guys who's most likely to become a millionaire I it's I feel I feel you're the only one that's financially sensitive no no you bought into a business with three of your mates and you're starting to find it out the tough way so the social beam get your coffee now yeah look so I think my biggest chance of becoming a millionaire is winning the lottery um so so I don't I don't think I don't think I'm really up there I feel like I feel like it's Brendan and hear me out through I feel like uh yeah I feel like through Mary you would best to become millionaire I feel like Phil already has two kids takes too much money social being is like a really nice activity but let's be honest that's not gonna make him a millionaire and I feel like I'm too some say stupid some say lazy some say too too smart to become a millionaire I think it's somewhere along those lines yeah I agree Brendan don't sound a prenup okay cool I no I um uh I will do because I think that's only fair uh who's the most likely to become a politician I think this was this is an easy one it's not you yeah it's unless it's what huh it's you Brendan yeah I'll take that yeah it's definitely for sure not me I feel like Phil could also be a politician though yeah I I mean I don't I don't have the love for it but yeah I don't I'm also not taking that as a compliment at all right I'll be honest with you I don't think any of us have the love for it I'm fucking sick of politics UK's just fucking rubbish in it yeah Brexit shambles go on Phil next one no I can't say that one please say it's we're we're all intrigued now well one of these is I'm just I've found I'm I'm being lazy I found a website and I'm choosing my favorite ones it one of them is most likely to do a nature poo but I also know that that's Brendan because he does it all the time what's a nature poo just a poo in nature yeah it's what it says on the tin mate Phil Phil I don't do it all the time to clarify I I I have done it but I don't do it all the time that's not a thing where you go yeah the toilets are here but fancy doing it outside you but I've had to I've had to do it before when we've been in high we've had to go to like a fitness place like 15 20 minutes from our normal place where it's just we're just running up a hill it's just a random hill and I really needed a I really needed a poo so I had to go to a builder a random builder and ask if he had any bog rolls so I could wipe my ass and I went for a poo in the woods you couldn't ask for a toilet yeah well stupidly there was a toilet obviously in the house that he was working on and I decided I'd go in the woods and stuff.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_01: Why not up to have a toilet instead I'll be honest with you I felt rude asking to use the toilet that's not his but in hindsight it's a wonderful question I should have asked yeah but the stupid thing as well is he just came back and told everyone so right next one it was hard not to tell people when they saw me who's most likely to climb Everest oh I'd say me why you're not climbing Everest we know that much that's enough you're not you're not you're not you're only going on hot holidays Phil Phil's not doing it anytime soon why no I'm not going only on hot I love winter sports.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_00: I feel like I could ski both of you out of the fucking mountains but why not me?
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_00: We should have a ski off unrelated to walking Mount Everest let's have a ski off um I'm unreal on skis I don't think it helps going up a mountain but I'm unreal on skis I feel like I would be best I feel like both of you are whiny little bitches and you would like halfway up ah it's I'm it's so cold I'm so tired.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_00: You can't pay the Sherpa to carry you mate I'm not I'm not having that you you are there's I think you're the least likely out of the three of us no I I don't agree I think I'm tough as nails I think I look like a bitch uh but I'm not I feel like Phil doesn't look like a bitch but he is and you look like a bitch and you are a bitch Brendan I think that perfectly sums up us three I if so we agree Phil it's me yeah if I'm voting I'm voting myself what no no Phil no Phil you've got that all wrong all wrong okay I I think Brendan looks most like someone who would climb up a mountain with his man bun and his beard and like oh look at me I'm so alternative I'm gonna climb up Everest like no one thinks of it I feel like that's the case but you don't Brendan you don't you're probably injured halfway up yeah also you Brendan gets to base camp and he has um what was it called altitude sickness and he's crying for three days in bed and then he goes back to you when was the last time you went for a walk just for a walk when was the last time if you say you walk your dog that that that class is you going to ever you know Phil actually I'm just asking you when the last time you went for a walk was just two years ago how little how how unlikely he is to walk Everest when he doesn't even walk two or three years ago you can call my uncle I actually walked up a mountain on like the skis like the long laugh I walked up I think I I I ascended over uh a thousand uh meters so you know what Brendan okay but that's maybe a bit exaggerating but like 600 meters but like I walked up a mountain right three years ago so you last went for a walk in 2021 that proves my point no doesn't prove that you're going up Everest does it no Phil what I'm saying is he's not likely to the question was who is most likely not who is going to do it hey I I walked up Snowden last year with my wife maybe you win then Phil maybe you win we we had a great time I think it's basically the same Snowden and Everest I think um I have two sets of staircases in this house which have to walk up very often so I think that's that kind of proves my case I love that you you went to like who's gonna climb with Everest and fuck you both well let's have a ski off like I'll prove I've never ever been skiing before I wouldn't be in that competition but and then you went to I'm so fucking good at skiing right last one who's most likely to do be the um the uh what's it called they do a they're the person that people paint as a life drawing a naked life drawing oh Phil you're so vain this is actually that's actually horrendous from you I'm just reading one of the questions Phil the fact that you're topless on this it says it all this is ridiculous absolutely ridiculous no we know who it is I don't know why you go Phil did you take that that you are taking your shirt off while asking this question is very vain of you that's ridiculous ridiculous that is actually disgusting behavior.
- 1:05:46SPEAKER_01: Phil first put your shirt and your trousers back on before we go on with the pot come on that's that's very vain of you I really I genuinely can't believe he's taking his top off he started flexing that is actually ridiculous on a podcast.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_01: Also do you want to hear a
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_00: Weird fact, you Phil has very, very little body hair.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I do, I do as well.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_00: I don't have a lot of body hair as well.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_01: Just me, okay.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_02: Well, that one didn't go as I planned.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_02: Um okay, we'll be back with after one more break.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_02: Right, and we're back.
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_02: We're gonna finish up, finish up the season with um the coop.
- 1:06:24SPEAKER_02: We could not miss it out.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_02: So, you over to you.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_00: Oh, well, you're you're kind of putting me on the spot.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_01: Do you not remember you saying that he was like, We're gonna do it on the episode in July?
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_01: Did you miss that?
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_02: Let's keep this bit in then.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_02: This is where the podcast is at its best.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_02: Um, I thought you was gonna do something.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_02: How can we miss out the last episode without a little bit of coop?
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_00: What you were saying is it's not the last episode.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_00: You are so eager, Philip.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_00: You're oh calm down, put it, put your cock back in your pants.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_00: Um is he taking his pants off as well?
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_00: Oh, this guy.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_00: Two turples are walking down.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_00: No, okay.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_00: Okay, so question.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_00: What would your dream tournament look like?
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_02: Wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_02: I missed some huge news.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_02: Sorry, sorry, I'm so sorry, you I don't want to cut in here.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_02: But David Ames is signed for old Georgines.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, everyone with with an English passport signed for all your jeans.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_00: Big whoop-de-doo.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_00: They're buying, they're buying the entire league.
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_00: Uh David Ames, congratulations.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_00: I love you, you're a hero of mine, but everyone's signing for the old Georgines.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_00: You can you can you can you can you can just as well not play this season because everyone knows what's happening because everyone plays for old Georgines.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_02: Okay Brendan Creed is signing for old Georgines.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_01: Nope.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_01: That is not true.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_00: Why don't why don't you guys play like two games versus servant and winner of that game becomes English champions?
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_00: Okay, in the coup, what would your dream tournament look like?
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_00: You can choose a city, a venue, a hotel, and a crowd.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_02: Is that that we've stayed in before or played in before?
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_00: Whatever you want.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_00: You can choose a city to stay in, a venue to play at, a hotel, and a crowd.
- 1:08:35SPEAKER_00: So I would like to play.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_00: Let's do where we have played.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_00: I would like to uh to the city to be uh Perth in Australia.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_00: We stayed at Fremantle, it's fucking good.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_00: Weather is very nice.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_00: I fucking loved it there.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_00: The venue, so the I would play in Ruchela, Unreal Stadium.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_00: Uh uh, I thought that was sick.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I would like the hotel to also be Rukhela.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_00: No, I would like the hotel, I would love the hotel to be.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_00: Um I'm going with um Argentina, and we we stayed in Mado Plata.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_00: It was like a coast town, and we had like a training um period there.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_00: We stayed in like a Sheraton with like an unreal swimming pool, and it was like this churos place right around the corner, which I ate, I think 700 of them.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_00: So I would take that hotel, and I would like the crowd to be the Dutch home crowd.
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_00: Oh that's a that's a pretty good setup.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_02: And we can't use any of the same places.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_02: Let's let's make it rule.
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_00: We can't use no you would be very unoriginal, but you can.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_00: We're used to it.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_01: I'll go then.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_01: Uh Buenos Aires, City.
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_01: I absolutely love the city.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_01: I think Palermo is one of the coolest places around.
- 1:09:55SPEAKER_01: Um Stadium.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_01: Uh because I didn't I haven't played at Raw Keller.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_01: Uh I'd go with um, it's a tough one.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_01: I'd probably go with Amsterdam.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_01: I think that's the best stadium I've played in.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't really like Boob.
- 1:10:17SPEAKER_01: Uh I quite like um Amsterdam's one.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_01: Uh what was the next one?
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_01: Hotel.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_01: I choose Oman.
- 1:10:23SPEAKER_01: The Sheraton we stayed in in Oman was unbelievable.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_01: Serious setup there, it's got everything you need.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_01: Um, huge rooms, food was pretty unbelievable.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_01: Uh, and then I'd go crowd.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, you've got to go home crowd, haven't you?
- 1:10:39SPEAKER_01: It's nothing like a bit home support, but I'd choose I'd choose the crowd that we get at the Commonwealth Games because I thought that crowd was unreal.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_01: Because that's like it's not necessarily just a hockey crowd, it's like a bit more like a football crowd, so it's like a pretty hostile environment.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_01: Um, so I'd say that crowd specifically.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_00: For me, for me, the Hulkela crowd or like the Indian crowd is also uh uh up there.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_00: It's like an honorable mention because they don't give a shit what happens as long as something happens, they're fucking going mental.
- 1:11:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so we do know that the hockey in the league's coming up, so you need to stop with the 180 in the last episode of the season.
- 1:11:14SPEAKER_02: I was like, why don't you just put on your Isle of India t-shirt and just get it done with?
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_00: I I remember when Phil said five minutes ago uh that that's the best thing that can happen in podcasts if you do it spontaneously, and then it's like struggles to come up with any answers, and now it starts to have a dig at me.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_01: I tell you why, right?
- 1:11:35SPEAKER_01: I tell you what, other crowd is sick is the ones we had at Aslan Shah, Malaysia.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_01: They're seriously cool.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_02: Brendan, stop taking my answers.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_01: I've already given mine, Phil.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_01: You go for yours.
- 1:11:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, give an answer, give an answer, Phil.
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_02: Come on, Phil.
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_02: I want to be in the city, is Auckland.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_02: Whenever I've been there, it's seriously cool.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_02: And I'd I'd go there.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_02: The stadium is um the munch and gladback one, but as long as there's uh there's people in it.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_02: Um if it if it's full, it's really sick.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_02: Uh when we play in that semi-final, that was some memory.
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that was cool.
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_02: Uh the hotel, this is a bit r rash, but um the lemon tree in Bubaneswar in India.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_02: Good hotel because it's an unreal hotel.
- 1:12:21SPEAKER_02: And the the the the chef, whoever the hell the chef was, pumped out the most incredible Tandori chicken and nans and all the amazing curries.
- 1:12:32SPEAKER_02: I like I I'm so angry if you're listening.
- 1:12:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, I'm also someone to say that that that the that uh that uh Mayfair Lagoon in India, it's actually I think the best, those are the best because the stuff is fucking unreal and all those in you know, yeah.
- 1:12:46SPEAKER_00: They they do whatever they can to get you the best, yeah.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_00: That's a good outfit.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_02: And then and then my crowd was the Aslan Shah crowd, so like uh that tournament every year where it's like this really cool stadium.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_02: It was like it's a really cool stadium, but they fill it up and they make a lot of noise, and um they're super passionate, and they they have really cool songs about Malaysia, so I like that.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_02: That'd be mad.
- 1:13:10SPEAKER_02: Nice.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_02: Well done.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, I can I can do one more if you guys like, or I could or we can like call it a quits.
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_02: Go a last one, and then the season's done.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_00: The season's done.
- 1:13:28SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, I had would you rather change your shoes every week?
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_00: So different model and brand or your stick every week.
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_00: Oh Jesus, so a different brand of stick and model and whatever, or a different brand of shoes.
- 1:13:46SPEAKER_00: I'd I'd have to choose shoes.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I hate to hate new sticks, I hate them.
- 1:13:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I also like an old stick.
- 1:13:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I like a stick once it's broken in.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_01: I hate new sticks.
- 1:14:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Tom Carson has has actually told me this that Brendan is probably the worst sponsored players for new sticks because he is so incredibly picky.
- 1:14:11SPEAKER_02: He's like, Oh my god, Brendan's.
- 1:14:13SPEAKER_02: I've got to get in touch with Brendan to get a new stick, and he is like the toughest person to please.
- 1:14:19SPEAKER_01: You you say that, but once I've once it once I've got the stick, I'm happy because then I know they're good, and I don't pester them for loads afterwards.
- 1:14:26SPEAKER_01: It's just the initial stages.
- 1:14:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, my that's my bad.
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_02: We are brought to you by Y1.
- 1:14:36SPEAKER_02: This whole season that's been brought to you by Y-1.
- 1:14:39SPEAKER_02: Um, I would also choose shoes just to because I I I change shoes all the time, it doesn't really bother me.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_02: Sticks would bother me.
- 1:14:50SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_02: Not having a fantastic Y-1 stick in my hand would be would be hard to do.
- 1:15:01SPEAKER_01: That's shameless.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's shameless.
- 1:15:06SPEAKER_02: Right, but this has been the whole of season season six, it's been um awesome.
- 1:15:13SPEAKER_02: Thank you very much for anyone who's been tuning in, who's been passing the pod, who's been getting in touch.
- 1:15:18SPEAKER_02: Thank you very much.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_02: Um, Brendan's trying to eat his mic like it's been it's been awesome.
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 1:15:23SPEAKER_02: Please tune in, please write to us, tell us good and bad stuff.
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_02: But um, any final words, guys?
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_01: No, I got I got none.
- 1:15:31SPEAKER_00: Well, you you've guys been really good, that's an interest.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_00: We really appreciate you.
- 1:15:36SPEAKER_01: Thanks, guys.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_00: No, that's it.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_00: Thank you guys a lot.
- 1:16:04SPEAKER_00: Um, we'll maybe see you somewhere in July or hear you.
- 1:16:08SPEAKER_00: What we may we might don't hold, don't hold it up against us because who knows?
- 1:16:13SPEAKER_00: Like maybe Yupe or Brendan changes his mind.
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_00: Phil probably doesn't.
- 1:16:17SPEAKER_00: Phil probably now thinks the episode was shit and look and listen back and say, Hey guys, I actually thought it was a pretty good episode.
- 1:16:23SPEAKER_00: So, you know what?
- 1:16:24SPEAKER_00: Oh, he's already out the closet.
- 1:16:26SPEAKER_00: So we might hear you, we might not, we might come back with a new season.
- 1:16:30SPEAKER_00: We might not send us an email, let us know if you want a new season or not, or if you're done after six seasons of listening.
