- 0:01Happy Thursday morning, everybody.
- 0:06Myself and Kim right there say hi, baby.
- 0:13We have our motorcycle gear on. We got our Gators on our rain
- 0:20gear basically just to keep us warm.
- 0:26It's cold this morning, Chilly. You get on that, you get on that
- 0:29trike and it'd be a little cold. Plus we might run into a little
- 0:33rain as we head into a Missouri, you know, get a little S down,
- 0:38go down through Springfield, IL, Rockford, IL.
- 0:42You never know. Better safe than sorry.
- 0:45That's what Uncle Rusty always says, Herman.
- 0:49Better safe than sorry. So we can always take our layers
- 0:54off. Hard to put them on.
- 0:56All right, so today's a big day. Breaking news in the garage
- 1:03area, and I think this is great news.
- 1:10Fox Sports has purchased Penske Entertainment and let me explain
- 1:20what that means. Basically, Fox Sports has bought
- 1:24like 1/3 of IndyCar, ensuring that it will always be on TV.
- 1:32So what that means now is Rodger Penske sold basically $135
- 1:40million worth of IndyCar. Now, this is something that we
- 1:48really can't put a price tag on. Rodger Penske did it.
- 1:52So in other words, what I'm saying is you and I are going,
- 1:54well, how'd they come up with that?
- 1:56Well, we don't know that Rodger Penske did.
- 2:00So Adam Stern reports. Adam Stern is the reporter, and
- 2:05everybody has caught up on it. Now they're reporting because
- 2:09Fox Sports PR announced it. And so Adam Stern and all the
- 2:14media caught up. It's all over now.
- 2:16Everybody knows about it. So this is this is a big deal.
- 2:20I haven't seen this happen in a long time.
- 2:22You know, when you look at Formula One, Formula One is, is
- 2:27owned by Liberty Media. And if you remember last last
- 2:31week I said maybe a media company, maybe a media company
- 2:37needs to buy NASCAR. And here I say it.
- 2:40And look what happens the very next week.
- 2:43FOX buys 1/3 of IndyCar entertainment, 135 million.
- 2:51Now they're they're saying 125 to 135 million.
- 2:56The bottom line is this, Fox TV owns part of IndyCar now.
- 3:02That's what we all need to know. Fox TV now owns a part of
- 3:09IndyCar. So you know what that means?
- 3:13That means FOX TV has an invested in, they have invested
- 3:18and now they going to, they're going to pull all the
- 3:21mechanisms, all the levers to make IndyCar better, bigger and
- 3:25better. Now that my friend, that's why
- 3:29Rodger Penske is so good. He is a genius and he has
- 3:36everything he touches. Pretty much turns the goal
- 3:38because he's a businessman and and let's face it, what is
- 3:42IndyCar worth without? Here's the key.
- 3:46What is IndyCar worth without the Indianapolis 500?
- 3:52You could argue that just $135 million for the Indy 500 is well
- 4:02worth it. I've always said in a very
- 4:04polite way that when you leave the Indy 500, do you pay any
- 4:10attention to the IndyCar races? Now, we all know that we're all
- 4:15big fans of IndyCar. We're not competing.
- 4:19We all love IndyCar because Indycar's like the little
- 4:22brother. They're down here with 500,000
- 4:26views. Sometimes.
- 4:28IndyCar was a show at Iowa. We all know that Iowa was a bad
- 4:34deal. I'm assuming when Rodger Penske
- 4:36said Oh no, I'm assuming Rodger Penske in his mind said Oh no
- 4:41when he saw Iowa because Iowa there was nobody in the
- 4:45grandstands. They said 6007 thousand in the
- 4:49grandstands at Iowa for the IndyCar race and the TV
- 4:54viewership was down because they felt like it wasn't advertised.
- 4:57That told Rodger that IndyCar is still vulnerable, meaning that
- 5:02it's still not where it needs to be in excitement.
- 5:07And you know, people can forget about IndyCar.
- 5:10That can happen. So by Rodger, Penske selling,
- 5:15part of Penske Entertainment, which Rodger runs IndyCar,
- 5:21that's hard to believe, ain't it?
- 5:22But the guy that races in IndyCar, he owns IndyCar.
- 5:25So this once again, Rodger selling, you know, 100 and 2500
- 5:32and $35 million worth of IndyCar that ensures TV, that ensures
- 5:38one of the biggest networks in America, Fox Sports will now
- 5:41keep IndyCar out and about. It will not fail.
- 5:45It will not fail because Fox Sports is going to make sure
- 5:49it's going to be bigger and better.
- 5:51All right, I hope I explained that to you, Kim.
- 5:53What do you think of that move by Rodger?
- 5:55I'm. Sorry I got up.
- 5:58I didn't hear you, but. She don't give a flying.
- 6:03Sorry. Yeah, now if you want to go down
- 6:05to the casino and pull some slots, she's all in for that.
- 6:11I won last. Night how you did go up.
- 6:14We won't talk about what she won, but she she did win, didn't
- 6:17you? I did a little bit.
- 6:21OK, well, excited about that. All right, let's finish it off
- 6:25like this. So we know that we have been
- 6:32talking about changing the point system for the NASCAR Cup
- 6:39Series. I will say this, I saw something
- 6:46interesting yesterday and it was NBCNBC said we will continue to
- 6:55produce the NASCAR races while NASCAR sorts their vision out.
- 7:03I almost went that's NB CS way of saying, oh, we really don't
- 7:11have nothing to do with the point system, but they do.
- 7:17We all know insiders at NASCAR tell me that it's, you know, all
- 7:21the TV networks, they're the ones that sit down with NASCAR.
- 7:24Even Mark Martin told you. Even Mark Martin told you that
- 7:27ATV is the one that has the vision for this point system.
- 7:31So we're going to see what happens.
- 7:35I'm going to take a guess right here.
- 7:37I'm going to guess that they're going to still keep a playoff
- 7:40format. I don't think we go back to the
- 7:43old format, but I think we're going to, we're going to, we
- 7:47might see a change. We might not.
- 7:49We might not, you know, for next year for 2026, but we will see.
- 7:57We will see. I I'm betting here's what I'm
- 7:59betting. I'm betting they go most of the
- 8:02year and then they start whittling it down.
- 8:07You know, I think we're going to get back more and maybe maybe
- 8:09more towards the chase for the championship.
- 8:12Remember the old chase Chase for the Championship.
- 8:15But, but as far as far as just points, the rest of your hey,
- 8:18listen, if they do, I, I, I don't care.
- 8:23I don't care at all. My big argument with you is you
- 8:26guys just are exhausted and you you exaggerate everything.
- 8:30And I've always told you, I don't give AI don't care what
- 8:33kind of points system they come up with.
- 8:36I don't just never have. But I did tell you, if you
- 8:39remember a week ago, I said, I'll meet you halfway.
- 8:42I like what Dale Junior said. Four races, 4 drivers.
- 8:47That way we get a bigger sample size that way.
- 8:50That way one pit stop does not decide who the championship is.
- 8:55Right now the problem I got with one race, 1 champion, a pit
- 8:59stop, anything, anything and you know anything can determine who
- 9:04the champion is. I don't I've never liked that.
- 9:07Go back through all my videos, I've never I've never liked one
- 9:10race, 1 champion, 4 races, 4 drivers.
- 9:15Now that is almost like what Mark would like 4 races, 4
- 9:21drives. Now I'm not saying Mark will
- 9:22like that, you know, I'm just saying that that is that is a
- 9:26that's four races that you can determine a champion right
- 9:30there. All right everybody, we're going
- 9:32to head on head on down to Saint Louis this morning.
- 9:36See y'all at Tri-City Speedway, Granite City, IL tomorrow on
- 9:40Friday. Saturday is Highland Speedway,
- 9:44Highland Superspeedway. It's a little bitty track.
- 9:48We always joke about it. And then Sunday at Quincy.
- 9:52All right, have a great Thursday.
