- 0:09Speaker 1: What's going on? Everyone?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome into another episode of The Checko Daily. It's Andrew
- 0:14Speaker 2: de Checko here, Eagles beat reporter for insidethebirds dot Com.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Not a whole lot going on in Eagles Land, obviously,
- 0:23Speaker 2: with free agency going on right now. It's important to
- 0:26Speaker 2: note that the Eagles and tight end Dallas Goddard have
- 0:31Speaker 2: pushed back the void date on his contract to Monday,
- 0:34Speaker 2: as first reported by The Athletic Zach Berman. I mentioned
- 0:37Speaker 2: that on Friday's podcast, but it's worth reiterating, and we
- 0:42Speaker 2: will look at three free agent wide receivers who will
- 0:46Speaker 2: make sense for the Eagles and kind of break down
- 0:51Speaker 2: their backgrounds and what they could potentially provide if they
- 0:54Speaker 2: were signed. It's a really like group in terms of
- 0:58Speaker 2: the free agent crop this year, and I think right now,
- 1:04Speaker 2: of the players available, the one that I'm most intrigued
- 1:08Speaker 2: with and have been most intrigued with is Juwan Jennings
- 1:11Speaker 2: of the San Francisco forty nine Ers. So he went
- 1:15Speaker 2: to Tennessee University of Tennessee was drafted by the forty
- 1:18Speaker 2: nine ers in the seventh round of the twenty twenty
- 1:21Speaker 2: NFL Draft. Big body wide receiver, physical six foot three
- 1:26Speaker 2: two hundred and twelve pounds doesn't typically see a ton
- 1:30Speaker 2: of volume, except over the past couple of years he has.
- 1:35Speaker 2: But his first three years thirty eight targets, fifty six
- 1:39Speaker 2: thirty three. Then he jumps in twenty twenty four to
- 1:42Speaker 2: one hundred and thirteen targets. In twenty twenty five he
- 1:45Speaker 2: had ninety targets. So let's back things up a little bit.
- 1:49Speaker 2: He's played in the seventy five games, started, thirty two,
- 1:53Speaker 2: two hundred and ten career catches for two thy five
- 1:56Speaker 2: hundred and eighty one yards and twenty two touchdowns. I
- 1:59Speaker 2: think he would be a solid two, definitely a really
- 2:04Speaker 2: strong number three, and I really look at his blocking ability,
- 2:08Speaker 2: his willingness to do the dirty work. Now, he is
- 2:11Speaker 2: someone who's gonna want the football, so there has to
- 2:14Speaker 2: be for this to make sense. There has to be
- 2:18Speaker 2: a plan in which to involve him in the offense
- 2:21Speaker 2: or it could blow up. He could very easily not
- 2:26Speaker 2: be pleased with his role. And I think that it
- 2:29Speaker 2: would be pure fireworks to see Juwan Jennings match up
- 2:33Speaker 2: against Tarik Women or Rik Wohen and see how that goes,
- 2:37Speaker 2: because both guys are not afraid to let the other
- 2:41Speaker 2: one know that they're there and talk trash and chirp
- 2:45Speaker 2: a little bit. So I for training camp purposes, I
- 2:49Speaker 2: would absolutely love the signing. But I think for to
- 2:52Speaker 2: a larger point, Juwan Jennings would fit well with at
- 2:58Speaker 2: least what the Eagles used to do because you look
- 3:01Speaker 2: at Zach Pascal, you look at alamode z A kias
- 3:04Speaker 2: those type of receivers who are selfless, willing to do.
- 3:07Speaker 1: The blocking and all of that.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Now I have to think that Juwan Jennings is going
- 3:10Speaker 2: to command a little bit more money and probably more
- 3:13Speaker 2: than the Eagles would want to spend. But when you
- 3:15Speaker 2: look at their wide receiving corps, you have Aj Brown,
- 3:18Speaker 2: you have DeVante Smith, you have Darius Cooper, Britton Covey,
- 3:23Speaker 2: Johnny Wilson, Quswatkins, Danny Gray. So they need bodies there,
- 3:29Speaker 2: and I think to go into the draft and get one.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Yet you could do that, and they very well may
- 3:34Speaker 2: do that, but you could also stand to add one
- 3:38Speaker 2: and free agency, and that's where I think Juwan Jennings
- 3:41Speaker 2: would make some sense there and he would be my
- 3:44Speaker 2: top option of the three players. I'm going to mention
- 3:48Speaker 2: the other player, Christian Kirk. Remember Christian Kirk began his
- 3:52Speaker 2: career with the Arizona Cardinals cashed in in a major
- 3:57Speaker 2: way with the Jacksonville Jaguars in twenty twenty two.
- 4:01Speaker 1: But let's kind of go through it.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Because Christian Kirk's five eleven, two hundred pounds was drafted
- 4:06Speaker 2: by the Cardinals in the second round in twenty eighteen.
- 4:10Speaker 2: He is twenty nine years old, and it feels like
- 4:13Speaker 2: he's been around forever. But I look at his career
- 4:18Speaker 2: and he's played in one hundred and six games, started
- 4:20Speaker 2: eighty four hundred and thirty two receptions for five thy
- 4:25Speaker 2: four hundred and fifteen yards, and thirty touchdowns. I think
- 4:28Speaker 2: he's kind of on the down side. He played in
- 4:31Speaker 2: just eight games in twenty twenty four and thirteen games
- 4:35Speaker 2: last season for the Houston Texans, and so and twelve
- 4:41Speaker 2: the year before that, so he's banged up an awful lot,
- 4:44Speaker 2: and I think his best football is probably behind him.
- 4:47Speaker 2: But if you're asking him to be a third wide receiver,
- 4:51Speaker 2: looking at some of the options who are out there
- 4:53Speaker 2: on the free agent market, you could it's it's slim pickings,
- 4:56Speaker 2: so you don't necessarily have your druthers. I think he
- 5:00Speaker 2: can give you a little bit more of a dynamic
- 5:03Speaker 2: quality than a Juwan Jennings can. But last season twenty
- 5:08Speaker 2: eight catches, two thirty nine, one touchdown, and the year
- 5:13Speaker 2: before that with the Jacksonville Jaguars, he had twenty seven
- 5:17Speaker 2: catches for three seventy nine and a touchdown.
- 5:20Speaker 1: That's kind of the numbers.
- 5:22Speaker 2: That you can expect anyway from the third receiver in
- 5:25Speaker 2: this offense. And if he's healthy, and that's a major
- 5:29Speaker 2: question mark because he's been banged up so often the
- 5:32Speaker 2: last few seasons, I would give him a look and
- 5:37Speaker 2: he's probably not going to cost a ton And it's
- 5:39Speaker 2: really a stark contrast to what he commanded on the
- 5:43Speaker 2: open market back in the twenty twenty two offseason. But
- 5:47Speaker 2: Christian Kirk's a player who has made some had some
- 5:50Speaker 2: big seasons. He had a seven hundred and nine yard
- 5:54Speaker 2: season in twenty nineteen, he had a nine hundred and
- 5:57Speaker 2: eighty two yard season in twenty twenty one, a eleven
- 6:01Speaker 2: hundred yard season in twenty twenty two, so he made
- 6:05Speaker 2: good on that. That was a career career year for him,
- 6:08Speaker 2: eighty four catches and eight yards, eight touchdowns. But I
- 6:12Speaker 2: think more, you know, I think you have to look
- 6:16Speaker 2: at his the embodiment of his career and that kind
- 6:20Speaker 2: of tells you the player that you would be getting.
- 6:22Speaker 2: He's also a little bit older now, so I think
- 6:25Speaker 2: as a third receiver he would fit well. And yes,
- 6:29Speaker 2: I am expecting the Eagles to draft the receivers as well,
- 6:32Speaker 2: just to add more dynamic qualities to the group.
- 6:36Speaker 1: And you have to start getting younger on that side
- 6:39Speaker 1: of the ball. You can't pay everybody.
- 6:42Speaker 2: There's one more player I wanted to get to and
- 6:45Speaker 2: that is Marquise Hollywood.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Brown five to nine, one hundred.
- 6:50Speaker 2: And eighty pounds was a first round pick of the
- 6:52Speaker 2: Baltimore Ravens in twenty nineteen. And this is a speedster,
- 6:58Speaker 2: someone who I think would really fit well as a
- 7:00Speaker 2: vertical threat for this offense. And last season he played
- 7:06Speaker 2: in sixteen games, start at six forty nine catches, five
- 7:09Speaker 2: hundred and eighty seven yards and five touchdowns for the
- 7:12Speaker 2: Kansas City Chiefs.
- 7:14Speaker 1: The year before that, he was injured. He played in
- 7:16Speaker 1: just two games for the Chiefs. He spent his career
- 7:21Speaker 1: with the Ravens.
- 7:22Speaker 2: That's where he started his career, spent three years there,
- 7:24Speaker 2: two years with the Cardinals, and then the last.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. His best season.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Came in twenty twenty one, where he caught ninety one
- 7:33Speaker 2: balls for one thousand eight yards and six touchdowns.
- 7:37Speaker 1: For his career, he has a career long.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Of eighty three and yards per reception is eleven point six,
- 7:48Speaker 2: which is really low considering his ability, his speed and
- 7:52Speaker 2: his vertical his ability to open things up and put
- 7:56Speaker 2: a unique stress on a defense. I think that's kind
- 7:59Speaker 2: of interesting that his yards per receptions is as low
- 8:03Speaker 2: as it is. But I think he would compliment what
- 8:05Speaker 2: the Eagles also have there in aj Brown and Devonte
- 8:09Speaker 2: Smith and give you a different type of player, but
- 8:13Speaker 2: one that I think would really help in terms of
- 8:15Speaker 2: opening things up, and defenses have to respect that kind
- 8:20Speaker 2: of speed, and when you have a player like that,
- 8:22Speaker 2: you have to atone for. And then you have the draft,
- 8:25Speaker 2: and there's a lot of players who I really like.
- 8:27Speaker 2: If you look at Chris Bell from Louisville, I like
- 8:32Speaker 2: him a lot. He's probably a second round guy, kind
- 8:34Speaker 2: of getting lost in the mix here a little bit,
- 8:36Speaker 2: but six foot two, two hundred and twenty two pounds
- 8:39Speaker 2: has a body type and a skill set that.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Really reminds me of AJ Brown. I like him a bit.
- 8:45Speaker 1: K C. Concepcion from Texas A and M.
- 8:48Speaker 2: I can tell you, as I learned this week from
- 8:50Speaker 2: a source that he had a formal interview with the
- 8:53Speaker 2: Philadelphia Eagles at the NFL Scouting Combine.
- 8:55Speaker 1: So that's a player who I really like.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Gives you one He gives you speed and the ability
- 9:00Speaker 2: to stretch the field, but he can also serve as
- 9:02Speaker 2: a return specialist. And I believe that he would be
- 9:05Speaker 2: somebody you talk about late round one.
- 9:09Speaker 1: You talk about pick fifty four.
- 9:11Speaker 2: I mean though, that's kind of where he's gonna slot into.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,

- 11:18Speaker 3: There's no safe like simply Safe.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Omar Cooper Junior, the wide receiver from Indiana, is a
- 11:25Speaker 2: player who I've talked about on this podcast. I like
- 11:27Speaker 2: him quite a bit. He most of his yards came
- 11:32Speaker 2: after the catch last season, and he attacks the catch point.
- 11:35Speaker 2: He's physical, he has the ability to align in multiple positions,
- 11:42Speaker 2: and I look at what this offense lacks and they
- 11:45Speaker 2: don't really have a manufactured touch player. I think Omar
- 11:48Speaker 2: Cooper can do that. And I think that was reported.
- 11:51Speaker 2: It was reported earlier in the week that or last
- 11:55Speaker 2: week that Omar Cooper Junior had a thirty visit schedule
- 11:58Speaker 2: with the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Not really a surprise there.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I think he's a perfect fit at twenty three. You
- 12:04Speaker 2: could probably trade down a little bit in all honesty
- 12:07Speaker 2: to get them if that was their guy, and then
- 12:10Speaker 2: I mentioned a couple of other players also, Chris Brazil
- 12:12Speaker 2: of Tennessee and a number of other players that I've
- 12:17Speaker 2: mentioned at different points. But if you're looking for a
- 12:20Speaker 2: Day one or a Day two guy, the players that
- 12:23Speaker 2: I mentioned would be the ones who classify as such.
- 12:28Speaker 2: But the Eagles certainly need to add to the wide
- 12:30Speaker 2: receiver room. They're really lean there, and I would expect
- 12:32Speaker 2: them to. I think the best path would be to
- 12:35Speaker 2: add someone in free agency, so you're having a veteran there,
- 12:38Speaker 2: and then identify someone in the draft that you view
- 12:42Speaker 2: as a piece for the future, develop them and have
- 12:46Speaker 2: him grow and learn under aj and Davante in twenty
- 12:50Speaker 2: twenty six, and then start to shape that wide receiving
- 12:54Speaker 2: corps and that tight end room and the running back
- 12:58Speaker 2: and offensive line.
- 12:59Speaker 1: You got to get younger there.
- 13:00Speaker 2: You have to start doing it, and I think it's
- 13:02Speaker 2: gonna be gradual, but I am expecting certain pieces to
- 13:05Speaker 2: be added so that when that pendulum does swing and
- 13:09Speaker 2: the Eagles have to pay a lot of their defensive guys,
- 13:11Speaker 2: there's not a scramble to, you know, sort of patch
- 13:16Speaker 2: things together offensively to atone for the allocation of resources.
- 13:22Speaker 2: If that makes sense, that's gonna do it. For this
- 13:24Speaker 2: edition of the Czech O Daily. I'm Andrew Ducheco and
- 13:28Speaker 2: I'll catch you all on the next one.
