- 0:40Speaker 2: You know, I was talking with somebody the other day
- 0:43Speaker 2: and they were talking about how man, they were young
- 0:46Speaker 2: and they were doing things, and they never knew that
- 0:48Speaker 2: the things that they were doing as a youngster would
- 0:52Speaker 2: come and help help form who they were today as
- 0:57Speaker 2: an adult. This guy is fifty years old, and you
- 1:01Speaker 2: know the same thing for you. If you look back
- 1:03Speaker 2: on your life and all of the things that you've done,
- 1:07Speaker 2: it helped shape you into who you are now. This
- 1:11Speaker 2: is provided now that you take the positive approach. Now
- 1:15Speaker 2: when I say look back at your life and see
- 1:17Speaker 2: what you've done, that doesn't mean dwell on the misfortunate
- 1:21Speaker 2: moments because the misfortunate moments were necessary.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I know it.
- 1:25Speaker 2: It's hard to see that when it's happening to you,
- 1:28Speaker 2: But the unfortunate moments are necessary. You know, what really
- 1:32Speaker 2: makes you appreciate summer vacation is winter work. What really
- 1:38Speaker 2: makes you appreciate a walk on the beach is when
- 1:41Speaker 2: it's cold is rained in our side. What really makes
- 1:44Speaker 2: you appreciate when you're up, it's because you've been down.
- 1:49Speaker 2: See if you were up all the time, just the
- 1:53Speaker 2: nature of us as human beings, we would lose our
- 1:55Speaker 2: appreciation for it because it becomes case hurrah, whatever, what
- 2:00Speaker 2: it is, what it is, I'm just what you take
- 2:04Speaker 2: it for granted, it becomes expected. But what happens in
- 2:07Speaker 2: life's is it has so many twisting turns, and then
- 2:11Speaker 2: you learn how to deal with those twisting turns, which
- 2:13Speaker 2: makes you now a more experienced person. And then when
- 2:17Speaker 2: the sunny days come, man, you go wild. It's really
- 2:19Speaker 2: nice outside.
- 2:20Speaker 1: You really want to.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Appreciate how warm weather. Just stay in a bunch of
- 2:23Speaker 2: cold weather all the time.
- 2:25Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I'm just this is really simpler now a loud analogies,
- 2:30Speaker 2: but it helps you along the way.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Now, here's what I came.
- 2:34Speaker 2: To say today to everybody out there, and this has
- 2:37Speaker 2: helped me in my life. I can't tell you what
- 2:40Speaker 2: it's done for me, but a lot of people are
- 2:43Speaker 2: struggling with moving forward with their future, their future plans,
- 2:50Speaker 2: their future goals, their future aspirations, their future hopes, their
- 2:55Speaker 2: future dreams. Just simply that your future wants a lot
- 3:00Speaker 2: of people trying to have a hard time mapping out
- 3:03Speaker 2: their future. Even what I'm gonna do, what I'm gonna be,
- 3:08Speaker 2: what I'm gonna make, how I'm or go about it,
- 3:11Speaker 2: What do I do next? I want to share something
- 3:13Speaker 2: with you that I had to come to terms with.
- 3:16Speaker 2: The quickest way to lose focus on your future is
- 3:20Speaker 2: to keep focusing on your past.
- 3:23Speaker 1: You know, It's like I said at the beginning.
- 3:25Speaker 2: You know when I say it's wonderful to look at
- 3:28Speaker 2: your life and review it, because if you look at it,
- 3:31Speaker 2: it'll tell you it really helped shape inform you today
- 3:36Speaker 2: as the person you are now if you look at
- 3:39Speaker 2: it in a positive sense. But if you dwell in
- 3:42Speaker 2: harp on the negative that's happened to you, then that
- 3:46Speaker 2: keeps you from seeing the good in the incident. Every
- 3:49Speaker 2: bad thing that's happened to you. That was a silver
- 3:52Speaker 2: lining behind it. I know people who were on drugs
- 3:56Speaker 2: who finally, man just got sent to prison for stealing
- 3:59Speaker 2: because it ain't habit. I don't cat that's sold dope. Well,
- 4:03Speaker 2: he went to prison. He told me one time, he
- 4:05Speaker 2: says Steve. He said, man, this is the best thing
- 4:08Speaker 2: ever happened to me to save my life. Now, most
- 4:11Speaker 2: people would think, how in the world is going to
- 4:13Speaker 2: prison helpful for you? The brother said, it saved my life.
- 4:19Speaker 2: First of all, it got me clean. He said, I've
- 4:21Speaker 2: been clean for five years from sitting in here. That's
- 4:25Speaker 2: for starters. I'm clean. I ain't stealing no more. I
- 4:28Speaker 2: ain't putting myself in jeopardy, and I ain't jeopardizing nobody else.
- 4:32Speaker 1: He said.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Now, man, I done went to college. I done got
- 4:35Speaker 2: a college degree while I'm in here. Then he was
- 4:39Speaker 2: released from prison, and the brother's life was completely turned around.
- 4:43Speaker 2: He married, he got a family, he got a great job.
- 4:47Speaker 2: He go to work every day. He's a productive citizen.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I mean.
- 4:51Speaker 2: So he looks back on his incarceration, even his drug abuse,
- 4:57Speaker 2: and it taught him how to appreciate that things in
- 5:00Speaker 2: life that he had taken for granted and was missing
- 5:03Speaker 2: because he said, Mamber, my life was just in a blur.
- 5:05Speaker 2: I didn't even know what was going on, he said.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Now I appreciate every day I wake up. That's what
- 5:11Speaker 2: I mean. Even in your missteps in life, there is
- 5:15Speaker 2: a purpose for the missteps. Every time you fail, there
- 5:19Speaker 2: was a reason for the failure.
- 5:21Speaker 1: See what I had to.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Do was I had to learn that all of my
- 5:25Speaker 2: failures taught me how to get back up. So I
- 5:29Speaker 2: became a very strong and tough person in getting back up.
- 5:33Speaker 2: And then I was down and out so long that
- 5:36Speaker 2: it taught me how to really appreciate that up. And
- 5:39Speaker 2: so I've taken all of that and used it those
- 5:43Speaker 2: experiences that happened to me, and I became a more
- 5:46Speaker 2: experienced person. So next time when people talk about me
- 5:50Speaker 2: who don't know me, it don't shake me, cause everybody
- 5:54Speaker 2: not gonna like you. Man, you might as well go
- 5:56Speaker 2: and get on this train right now. And so what
- 5:59Speaker 2: I'm saying to you out there is the quickest way
- 6:02Speaker 2: to lose focus on your future is to keep focusing
- 6:05Speaker 2: on your past. Let it go. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he left.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Sometimes the breakup is the blessing. I know it's hard
- 6:13Speaker 2: to break up because now you're loaning you by yourself.
- 6:15Speaker 2: But man, but wasn't you in misery when you was
- 6:17Speaker 2: in that? Weren't you in complete misery in that? Now
- 6:23Speaker 2: you kept asking God to fix it. But it takes
- 6:25Speaker 2: two people to fix a relationship. It don't just take one.
- 6:28Speaker 2: It take two to make a thing go right. It
- 6:32Speaker 2: take two to make it out of sight. You really
- 6:35Speaker 2: do have to have two people wanting a relationship to work.
- 6:39Speaker 2: It can't just be one person want a relationship, so
- 6:41Speaker 2: you can pray about the relationship all you want. If
- 6:44Speaker 2: the other person don't want you no more, it ain't
- 6:46Speaker 2: gonna act right. You can't make him do that or
- 6:49Speaker 2: you can't make.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Her do that.
- 6:51Speaker 2: But you steady asking God for a new relationship. But
- 6:56Speaker 2: you are yet to be grateful that you are in
- 6:59Speaker 2: a position to have a relationship.
- 7:02Speaker 1: And you keep harping on the past. You don't think
- 7:04Speaker 1: you hear that.
- 7:05Speaker 2: I'm just a dude with a show, and I hear
- 7:07Speaker 2: it all the time. Let it go go forward.
- 7:11Speaker 1: It's over.
- 7:12Speaker 2: You made it, He bought you through it, you conquered,
- 7:16Speaker 2: you survived it. Why are you dwelling on it and
- 7:20Speaker 2: making it the cross around your neck when clearly he
- 7:24Speaker 2: had removed it for you.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Now, all you got to do is come on.
- 7:28Speaker 2: So if you sit behind them walls, brothers and sisters,
- 7:31Speaker 2: I'm talking directly to you sometimes. Man, you just got
- 7:34Speaker 2: to get it right. All this repeat of fender business,
- 7:38Speaker 2: that's for?
- 7:38Speaker 1: Who is that for?
- 7:39Speaker 2: How ignorant can you be to keep giving your life
- 7:43Speaker 2: back to the penal system? Be free, man, walk the streets,
- 7:47Speaker 2: do the right thing. Ask God to help connect you.
- 7:49Speaker 2: He could do anything you think he can't give you
- 7:52Speaker 2: a job. Are you serious? Man, put some faith on it.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Let's move forward, y'all. Let it go.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Let's move you're listening to Steve Morning Show.
