0:00
[upbeat music] Hello, everybody.
0:22
It's Full Spectrum Cycling. 7:02 PM here in Milwaukee on a Wednesday evening when we do this show. In the past. In the past. It's show number 107. 7. Do we have anything for 107? Uh, all dogs go to heaven.
0:39
[laughs] There you go. All dogs go to heaven. It is true. I taught, I, tubby- Cats go to hell... derp derp derpity derp. [laughs] I taught an old dog a new trick today. Is that right? It's actually an ape. Oh.
0:55
I taught my ape a new trick. Oh. I had no idea I could fit 80 millimeter rims in there. Just kinda- Mm... squished them right in there. Didn't even have to do anything. And she fit right in, huh?
1:04
I thought they were 65s is the whole thing. Oh. [laughs] I- Huh? I forgot they were 80 millimeter.
1:10
They're, um, r- old school Sarma carbon rims, and for some reason I had it in my mind that they were 65s, which is kinda what the frame was designed around. But- The Schlick ape... but lo and behold. Yeah.
1:22
Well, I- They look nice... before I tested them out and fit 'em up, I had JT build 'em up. So I'm like- Oops... "Oh, well, they don't fit." [laughs] Uh-oh. Better find another frame. [laughs] Right.
1:32
But they fit, so that's good. Nice. Wearing some Hoosker Doos. I do- How's the, uh, how's the ride? They ride great. I love, I love those for urban assault. Oh, yeah. I do love my Hoosker Doos.
1:42
Yeah, it's great for urban assault. I was looking for my old school pair because they did change the tread pattern on 'em sometime in the... I don't even know if they actually make 'em anymore now, to be honest, but
1:52
the original Hoosker Doo was my favorite tire of all time, I think. Oh, there goes a police car. Action. It's going down the street real fast making noise. Um, but yeah, four inch, right on there, beautiful.
2:04
Does look nice. I'm happy. That's the thing that makes me happy today. Yeah. Really nice. That those tires worked out on that bike. [laughs] Very nice. I feel, I feel like, uh, I feel like going for a ride now.
2:17
It poured right before the show here, so- Yeah, it did... didn't get a long test ride, but I went around the neighborhood a little bit. [laughs] I know. I was staring at the radar [laughs] like, "Come on." Mm-hmm.
2:27
"Time it out." Right? "Time it out." Get that squall line through there and- Come on. Come on. And there we go. Thank you. Yeah. Well, it was, it's been beautiful- Beautiful...
2:35
spring weather here in the greater Milwaukee- It's been-... metro-polous sphere The seventh-hottest April on record. No kidding. Wow. It's been a dry one too. Mm-hmm. I don't know if they've made any, uh,
2:50
if they've said how, how dry it is, but it, it's gonna rain the whole next week so it'll probably make up for it. Mm-hmm. [laughs] But yeah, yeah, nice 70-degree days. Good times.
2:59
Good for rolling down to The Swinging Door for lunch and whatnot. Indeed. Astor's had hot dogs again. Yep. Mondays are hot dog day for me. I know. Bite me. [laughs] Uh, and the- Can't make it... bite me, bite a hot dog.
3:10
Yeah. And the special this week was the poblano dog. Poblano Fourth. Oh. With roasted poblanos, onions, jalapenos- Oh my, I would have went nuts... and pepper jacks. My, I would have went nuts.
3:20
Just $3 for your hot dog there at The Swinging Door. Shh. We can't be talking about Swinging Door on this 'cause it's gonna get p- more popular. It's like Oscars, man. [laughs] Don't go to Oscars. It sucks. Yeah.
3:30
But, you know, 2:00, 2:30 in the afternoon it's, it's pretty, pretty in between the, the lunch and the early dinner crowd. That's true.
3:39
For all the, uh, listeners out there, of course they all do know that Oscars does not suck. [laughs] I'm just trying to persuade you to not go there so I can get a table.
3:47
I'm trying to persuade myself not to go there once a week because- [laughs]... I'm starting to wear it out now. [laughs] Ooh. I can't. I, I don't go once a week, so. Yeah. Right? That's exactly the way to do it.
3:57
Don't do anything once a week. Well, food-wise anyway. Yeah, exactly. I like that. I like that motto. Uh, what else is going on? Who's, who's got some, uh, who's got some news? Oh, I got some news. Go ahead.
4:11
JK's not on the booze. [laughs] Hey, hey. Hey. Taking a little break.
4:15
JK, uh, so I wanted to, uh, after you've been doing this for a little bit, get your opinion on the NAs out there since they're kinda hard to come by- Yes... at your local- Well, good ones anyway... yeah, right.
4:25
Well- Marginally good... I think, I think it's by default every place seems to have a- A... and that's the dice roll. Some of them are, well, some of them are, eh, surprising, so. So your pick of the litter is?
4:40
At this point it is the Lagunitas IPNA. Yeah. Just 'cause it doesn't taste like a NA at all. It's actually a pretty narrow beer. Yeah. I mean, it's a very drinkable beer. And, uh, the Heineken
4:53
NA was surprisingly- Heineken-ey. Yeah, yeah. [laughs] And I'm not a big fan of Heineken, so I, I- I, I'm not but in ports, you know- It's drinkable...
5:02
it's, it's, it's definitely a sailor's beer, and I occasionally do enjoy it. It's like, yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't really- I don't want it, but- Yeah. Yeah... if somebody's gonna throw me one- Yeah... okay.
5:10
And the NA tastes similar to that, so I- Right... it makes sense there, so I'll take that. [laughs] And there's just some you don't wanna go down that path. Yeah. Coors.
5:22
[sneezes] I'm, I'm gonna actually- Tony's sneezing over there. Where's my sneeze button? I'm gonna ac- I did bring... I- [sneezes] At least it wasn't a dainty one. Sneeze button. There you go. [laughs] Hoosor.
5:32
[laughs] Or Hooford. [laughs] Well, if this was a real studio, each person would have their own button to- Right, to do my-... punch, punch themselves out-... sound effects...
5:39
so you can cough or, or, or choke or do a hand thing. New podcast. Whatever. New studio. How's the new studio coming? Same as it ever was. There's just- [laughs]... a lack of, uh, tied in electricity.
5:52
Although the, the new shop portion has been almost finalized on the outside walls. Uh- Nice... got s- a lot of work done on last weekend. Nice, nice.
6:02
So that will be finished this weekend, I think, and then, well, we're just waiting for a door and electricity. I turned in my electrical permit at the house. Oh, nice Guess how many outlets I have. Uh, 93. 44. 96.
6:20
[laughs] Shit, son. [laughs] Does, does that include the hot tub and the- Uh, no... and the outdoor electric fireplace? That's, that's virtually no basement outlets. That's...
6:29
I'll do all that after the- Man, where were you when I was doing electrical plans? I was... Aha. This is code, man. Yeah, yeah. It's crazy. I did go nuts in the kitchen, but every other room is basically code.
6:39
It's just stupid now. Mm. But anyway, that's got nothing to do with bicycles, so let's carry on with my little saga. Well, electric bicycles. See, I saw it. Maybe. Yeah. Oh, hell, that was a Wiffle ball just floating.
6:49
I kinda like electric bicycles. They're kinda neat. Um, well, something to make them even more appealing or appalling if you're Chewy, is that, uh, they're no longer defined as a motor vehicle by the BLM, so- Oh...
7:01
any trails on BLM land are now... They're a, they're not a motorized vehicle, so that seems like it could be opening up a whole lot of the West to folks. Yeah. Seems like a good place to do a little E-biking.
7:15
You know- Oh yeah, there was a, uh, I, I don't think we ever talked about it, but I know it was on the- [laughs] Excuse me... show notes or something. There was a, like, a, a bike packing and, like, day tripping,
7:27
uh, kind of choose-your-own-adventure thing, and it was, like, slightly sponsored by Ride with GPS. Oh. Or that was, like, one of the sponsors of it. I don't know. It's in there somewhere. Is it? No. It is.
7:40
That sounds like fun. Last week's show notes? I think so. Probably. Yeah. [laughs] I'll, I'll scroll through. The, yeah, I, I, I'm wondering how long a Google Doc doc can be. I don't know.
7:51
We're gonna find out pretty soon, I bet. Well, I've got, we've got all 107 shows on the same- One page... page. Yeah. Yeah. Which is like- But it's all-... the scroll bar is the little tiniest thing you can see. Yeah.
8:00
Nice So there's a lot of words on there. Mm. There's probably a word counter on this thing somewhere. Probably. I'm sure there is. Oh, that should have- It's all, like, text and link. Yeah. That's the funny part.
8:09
Text and link. Suggest edits. So it's not gonna take up- Clear formatting. Paste. I don't see- Yeah, spacewise it's nothing... like, like next to nothing... the size is tiny. Yeah.
8:16
You could even put that on a floppy disk, I would bet. This just got interesting. [laughs] Well, but it's, but it's Google, so it's gotta be spying on you, so there's a lot of stuff in the background. Of course it is.
8:23
Mm-hmm. There we go. How do you spell word? W-R-O-D. Oh. I'm just curious how many words there are. [laughs] We're gonna count. But, um, I, I'll have to figure that out later. We're at, uh- Look at the show notes...
8:36
there's a lot of them in there. Well, at the show notes- There's wordy words... I wonder if that also counts as part of the words that you're counting. You go in, hit Select All, Copy, open your Word document- Right...
8:47
paste it into your Word document. And then say- You do have-... it'll tell you at the bottom. It'll tell you words count... bingo. Count the words in a Words document. [laughs] Computer.
8:54
Computer, tell me how many [laughs]... I just- Tell me how many words are in this thing... I just did. [laughs] It says, "In a browser," la, la, la, la, la. Blah. Yeah.
9:04
Alternatively, press Ctrl+Shift+C, or on an Apple keyboard, Command+Shift+C. Command+Shift+C. [laughs] I don't know. Didn't do anything. Yeah. [laughs] So anybody, uh- Oh, there we go.
9:19
Characters excluding spaces, 110,683. That's characters, though. That's not words. Words, 20,550. There we go. Nice. Nice. That's a lot of words. But that doesn't seem like that many words.
9:33
We, we've talked more words than that. [laughs] Oh, easy. [laughs] I've talked more words than that. GT, did we talk about your potential electric car project yet? No, [laughs] I don't think we have.
9:47
When does that arrive in your driveway? Uh, n- that's to be determined. I'm not... I don't want it anytime soon. It's... What is it, a '60- 1964 Jaguar Mark 2 3.6L, the long edition... the long.
10:06
Well, it makes a good electric candidate. It, it is a very good electric candidate in its size and the fact that it's British, so it's completely unreliable as a gasoline vehicle.
10:18
[laughs] Um, so- Does it have all the Lucas ignition components? Of course it does. Of course it does. Everything that won't work.
10:25
My dad was a British car guy, so I've had to suffer through all those Jaguars- That's, that's just a horrible-... MGs, Austin Healeys- Yeah, oh... even an Aston Martin. Yep. Yep. That's just no. Nope, nope, nope.
10:37
Nope, there was a- So yeah, my daughter was very excited to, to find out we were getting it, and, and I'm like, "I... That's one of the last cars in the world I would ever want."
10:47
And then I was literally driving to see my mom, and I said to my wife, I'm like, "But if we made it electric, and then we could rent it out for, like, weddings, like, as a chauffeured car,"
11:00
I'm like, "that might have some potential." If the car's free and I have to stick, mm, 18, 20 grand into a fun electric system, and I get a really cool old car out of it, that, that sounds all right. Yeah.
11:12
Well, there's a place right down the street that's doing some electric conversions. Like to see what they're doing, but there's also a bunch of space at the new, um, facility.
11:22
Wouldn't take much to get a big old space to start doing some conversions in. Oh, that's, that's... We need to build a freaking Shark, man. Back to that.
11:34
What's he- We, we need to do the electric Shark, then we can have our own space to build electric cars. We're coming, we're coming on that. Tony had the Shark out for- Oh, he's got-...
11:40
a pretty good ride there this weekend. Oh, my God, you guys. What's in the bag? Get in here- A Shark or something?... get in here and ride this Shark 'cause it is unreal. Where'd you go on the Shark?
11:52
Well, first I went to my chiropractor, and then I said, "I'm gonna go for a bike ride."
11:56
And then I went down to the lakefront, and then I decided to take some pictures by the Urban Ecology Center, and then I took the long way back from the Urban Ecology Center to check out my friend's new puppy at, at Spike Brewing,
12:09
Queso. Queso is the new golden retriever at Spike. He's the new Spike lab dog. Spike dog. He's the greatest doggy in the world Uh, and I let him ride the bike, and he's not- The dog? Not the dog, no [laughs] The dag.
12:22
It's the dag's- Damn. [laughs] The dag's owner- You are the dog whisperer, man... and the dog's owner, and he came back and he was like, he's like, "I rode her on the block."
12:31
He's like, "And this is the most fun bike I've ever ridden in my life." I'm like, "Yeah. Yeah, it really is." For, for a fun day,
12:39
um, and quite frankly, a fun day where you may accidentally go about 32 miles an hour, it's a really fun bike to ride. And yes, I did go 32 miles an hour.
12:49
My eyes were watering and I realized this is way too fast to be going on a bicycle, so I decided to relax. Very good. But oh man, you should come ride this bicycle. Hey, wel- welcome to the radio program, caller.
13:02
Who do we have on the line? You, you know what else is a really fun bike to ride? [laughs] Oh, I bet you do. Do, do tell. She got three wheels? Her name's Heather. Yeah. She's a tricycle.
13:14
That sounds like the big sexy here on the radio program, folks. Ladies and gentlemen, the big sexy. It i- it i- it is. How are y'all doing? We're doing well.
13:21
W- Enjoying some, uh, season- I don't know if this is seasonal weather. It's very nice. It's, it's pretty warm outside. Very nice. Yeah. I, I heard y- y'all, y'all are getting a little warm still.
13:30
I th- I think- Mm-hmm... it's just Mother Nature fucking with you. Always. Oh, yeah. Oh. It's supposed to snow next week still, for sure. Yeah, we could use the snow. Yep, snow next week, for sure. Where you at, BS?
13:40
I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm currently getting my, I'm currently getting my hair cut in beautiful Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Mm. Ka-clacka. Nice. Are, are you getting your hair cut as we s- Yeah, uh-...
13:51
as we speak on the radio program? As we speak on the radio, I'm getting my hair cut. God damn. [laughs] Multitasking. That's a talented haircutter there. And yes, and, uh, well, we're just about done.
14:04
Um, and, uh, my alarm went off sa- and my alarm says, "Call Greg, asshole." [laughs] And I said, "Okay." Yep, you haven't called me- No problem. Um-... you haven't called me asshole yet, though, so [laughs]
14:16
Well, no, no, no, no. Um, but, uh, but I'll tell you what, um, I just, I went through Google Maps and I went and did, I did a little bit more extensive, um, searching than I usually do for my, for, uh, for my routes.
14:31
And, um, there's a piece of coastal North Carolina that is, uh, connected by ferry boats. Okay.
14:39
And it's all, like, it's all, like, outer, Outer Banks, like outer islands, and they're all connected by, they're all connected by ferry boats, and there's bike paths all along the way, and it goes all the way to Virginia Beach.
14:52
Nice. Wow. Yeah, yeah. It's barrier, barrier islands. And, um, they're all connected by very cheap, very cheap or free ferry boats, and, um, it, I, it looks like it's gonna be a blast. Yeah, it sounds that way.
15:04
Do you start out of Myrtle Beach? And I guess there's- Or, or where do you actually pick it up? Yeah.
15:09
Um, oh, I, I, I think I pick it up at Sunset Beach, and then, uh, I think the, the name of the town in North Carolina is Southport. Okay.
15:17
And that's the first boat that takes you out, and then you go along the line, and then you, you get to, like, Cedar Island, and then it gets you to the, the...
15:28
Another boat gets you to Ocracoke or something like that, and then you just keep on going up o- of these, uh, barrier islands, and there's all beaches and, um,
15:37
there's businesses and hotels and shit like that, you know, all the way along, a- a- along up the way. So it looks like it's gonna be a, it, it looks like it's gonna be so much fun. That sounds great.
15:48
I mean, I'm sure, you know... Um, but Heather, Heather is completely disassembled at the moment. Uh-oh.
15:56
Um, I, I, I have to admit to you and your listeners that I, um, I took her apart and strapped her to the top of a Ford Escape,
16:06
um, because the roads in South Carolina and the weather in South Carolina just was not agreeing with me. It was just a pain in the ass.
16:12
And in order to spend a lot of time with my family here in Myrtle Beach that we, w- I had to get a ride. That's all right. And I, I got a ride. You're gonna live. I got a ride. You'll live.
16:21
I got a ride through, through Charleston and into Myrtle Beach, and, uh, I don't feel bad about it, at least not this time, 'cause I'm not on a capital mission or nothing like that. Yeah. So, um, so I...
16:32
But, um, she's still in shambles 'cause I wanted to put a new, the new chain on her, and we, and, um, me and my friend Amber's father decided that we should probably replace the nuts on the, on the frame since she's almost, she's almost two now, and she's been, like, 13,000 miles.
16:48
Right. So, and we, and we, we got, we got the size wrong on one of the nuts, so we gotta wait one more day to put her back together, but,
16:57
but boy, she ran like a dream, and, uh, and, and, uh, I'll tell you what, I ca- I'm, I'm really excited for this next leg of the journey. Cool. Yeah, it sounds fun.
17:07
We, uh, I, I saw a fella riding one around town the other day, a Meridian, and I thought of you. Okay. And I said, "Well, I wonder if that guy would go on a 13,000-mile odyssey." [laughs] Yeah, nope, nope.
17:19
[laughs] And oh, and, and another thing, I think since the last time I talked to you guys, um, did you know that I went 979 miles without a flat tire? That's, yeah.
17:34
Do we have, do we have to knock wood- You're not gonna believe that... or, or did you get, [laughs] did you get one suddenly? Right. Well, I w- I went... No, look, look. I went, I went from Hammond, Louisiana,
17:43
all the way, all the way across the Gulf Coast and across Florida to the East Coast to St. Augustine, all the way up to Kingsland, Georgia.
17:50
I was just outside of Kingsland, Georgia, and I ran over a hunk of metal that I have no idea how I missed it.
17:57
But I hit it, and I forgot that in Hammond I, I shot her full of Fix-a-Flat because, um, I was, I had a slow leak. So I shot her full of Fix-a-Flat, so guess what? Sprayed all over me when I ran over that piece of metal.
18:13
[laughs] Oh, that sucks. [laughs] Well- It, it, it was hilarious, but then I ca- I called my mom. I'm like, "979 miles without a flat tire."
18:24
That's impressive, man And, um, and, and yeah, so then I put, I put new tires on the back, and then we're about to put a new tire in the front. Then get the chains tightened up, and then we're ready to go.
18:35
We're going to Cape Cod, baby. Nice. I love Cape Cod, man. I love Cape Cod. That's one of my favorite places. I- Me too... I used, I used to go there every summer. I- It-... haven't- Wait... in a long time...
18:44
how do we not know about this? [laughs] Me too. Every summer. In the fall. Oh, I would do usually- September...
18:50
right after Wendy gets out of school in June, and, and, uh, go up to North Truro up there towards the top just before Provincetown. Yeah, yeah. There used to be a place called the- All right.
18:59
Well, and I'll tell you what- Went to Falmouth... Falmouth. Oh, yeah, yeah.
19:02
I'll tell you what, my, um, I've, I've got all the, I've got all the capitals east of the Mississippi River, so, um, what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna keep my, I'm gonna keep my tricycle as close to the coast as I can all the way up,
19:15
and, but I'm gonna try to support small business, like, and bike shops and dive bars along the way- [laughs]...
19:22
and, and put them on Facebook, you know, um, and, and, uh, try to, try to drum up some business for the, for the mom and pop joints and the, um- Nice...
19:32
and the, and the, you know, small town bike shops and the, you know, and the, and the bars that took the biggest hit of them all. For sure. So you've been- And, and, um-
19:43
You've been through a bunch of different- Try to promote that... I was saying you've been a- through a bunch of different states so far. Um, and what do you- Yeah... are you seeing different responses to the pandemic?
19:54
Yes. Yes. Um, Florida, Florida was much different than Georgia, and South Carolina's much different than Georgia. Okay. Um, and, um, so I'm, I'm expecting North Carolina to be even more different. Yeah. And, and- Is...
20:08
a- and I, I mean different. I don't, I don't mean, I don't mean bad. I don't mean good. I mean just different. Yeah. Like in Florida, in Florida there was rarity.
20:18
It was a rarity that you see somebody wearing a mask inside a, in- inside a gas station or anything like that. You know? Yep. And in Georgia, everyone was wear- wearing masks.
20:28
In South Carolina, it's kinda like half and half. Hmm. Interesting. And it's, it's, um, it's kinda weird. But, you know, so I always, ever since the v- pandemic first started out, I have a bandana
20:40
tied around my neck, and so I can lift it up o- over my nose if I have to, and I can take it down if I have... I- I- I'm really kind of on the fence about all this right now, so. Yeah.
20:52
Well, I mean, everybody getting their shots, and it being summer and people being outside more, I think it bodes well if, if- Yeah... uh, nobody goes too crazy. Sure.
21:03
Well, see, my, my parents got vaccinated, and my, um, my friend with MS has a, uh, my friend has MS, and he, he's g- he's got an appointment to get vaccinated. My brother has appointment to get vaccinated.
21:13
Me, I'm like, okay, well, if somebody, if somebody offers me up a vaccination, I'll take it, but I'm... you know, I don't think I'm gonna, I don't think I'm gonna wait in line or, or search it, seek it out.
21:24
You know what I'm saying? Yeah. If you're on the move, it's- Let the people who really, really need it get it first. Right. There you go. I mean, anybody over 16 now in Wisconsin can get it- Right... that wants it.
21:35
Uh- People are coming from Illinois... I, I, I think that's nationwide very soon, though. But when you're on the move like you are- Yeah... it's gonna be hard to schedule the second shot.
21:43
So if you can find the Johnson & Johnson somewhere- Well-... just get the one pop- Yeah... and you're done with it. Yeah. Be good to go. Yeah. But I've, I've always been a one and done kinda guy anyway, so.
21:53
[laughs] Perfect. [laughs] Like, just like Trenton, New Jersey. I've been there once. I'll never go back. [laughs] Right on. Uh, I got some interesting news regarding our meeting you over in, um, Michigan at some point.
22:10
Hey guys, am you moving and bopping around on the farm? [laughs] This is probably the worst credit card ever. [laughs] Go ahead.
22:19
She's like- It's probably the first one you've given where there's someone on a podcast, too. [laughs] You're, you're live, you're live coast to coast on a podcast too, Amber. Right. [laughs] What?
22:31
I said you're live coast to coast on a podcast. Okay. Well, I hope it occurs to Chris this is not my fault. [laughs] This is not my fault. [laughs] My bad credit score. Send us a, send us a picture of her handiwork...
22:43
100% my fault. Yeah, we need a picture of this big sexy- My husband and I both dealt with our moving stuff. Yeah. Well, uh, I'll, I'll, I'll s- I'll send them your way. Um, yeah, sorry.
22:52
I, it is, I, I knew that there was a time window, so I had to give you guys a call. [laughs] Right on. Well, um- Thanks... we're gonna let you go and finish your business, and then, uh, catch up with you down the trail.
23:03
Cool. Well, um, and whatever, whatever that news was about us meeting up in Muskegon, uh, let, let me know. But it's g- it's, that's months from now, so. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I will. We'll do it.
23:12
Basically it's a way for us to do it for free, though, which is gonna be really fun. 'Cause that's nor- Oh... that's normally a pretty spendy ticket. Um, I, we'll have to- Yeah...
23:20
yeah, we'll have to figure out how we can make it all work, but it'll be a good thing. Rock and roll. Yeah. Right on, man. Okay. Sweet.
23:27
I mean, like, yeah, uh, like l- literally, um, who do I have to blow and, um- [laughs]... and, and, uh, how, how long do I have to blow them for for, to be sure to cross Lake Michigan? I, seriously, what's the setup?
23:37
Dave- davelunds.com. [laughs] [laughs] All right. We'll talk to you soon, brother. All right, guys. Take it easy now. Yep. Bye. You too. Bye. What was that? Big Sur. Uh,
23:50
well, if we get a free ticket and we're gonna go meet him, I'll pay for- I'll pay for his ticket... yeah, I'll pay for his crossing. I'll definitely help you pay for his ticket.
23:55
You know, it's not a big deal 'cause- Yeah, that's not an issue whatsoever... I'm not saying what day it is yet, but the, but the boat thing is happening with the bikes for a ticket deal. Oh, yeah?
24:04
So it's time to start planning 'cause- Yeah... it's not that far away. Okay. It's within a couple of weeks of now. It's a weekday too, isn't it? It's a Friday, I believe.
24:11
Oh, I'm gonna need to know 'cause I, my boss is going out of town, so I need to know what Friday so I can- Gotta find out what time it starts- Yeah, I'm gonna be there early...
24:17
'cause we might be able to blast over there at 7:00 in the morning or something and- Right... deal are done. Precisely. Basically the- You're gonna ride on the vomit comet. Yeah.
24:25
Well, I've never had a bad crossing on that thing. Never say never. Knock wood. There you go. Oh, hey Oh, Tony went to, Tony went to the beer store, so it's top of the hill, folks. Uh Or what do we got? What's in here?
24:39
Oh, we got New Belgium, uh, Voodoo Ranger variety pack- Variety pack... again. Their beers are tasty. Just like, I just like the variety pack. Makes it easy- I do...
24:48
it makes it easy- Especially when they're all IPA-ish... and it's just change it up just a little bit. Yep. You're not, you're not- Yep... completely jumping off the rails to a different thing. Totes. Totes.
24:56
Otherwise, I'd have to kind of plan my, my three- Yeah, I agree... beer attack or something like that. I agree. I agree. It's too fun. This way you can kinda just grab one. And then have a few. Oh, no.
25:05
I went with the Coors Edge. Yeah. I, none- The edges you want to slit your throat while drinking it. Does it taste like regular Coors Light? No. No, no. It's even worse? It's not good.
25:16
[laughs] Coors Light would be my beer water of choice. You know, well, it's not bad. No. Okay, I guess it's not bad. It's an acquired... I, I don't know. It's...
25:27
No, it's drinkable, but given the choice of something else, take the something else, so. [laughs] Copy that. Something else NA. I just stumbled across a thing coming up here in a week, I think, April 18th,
25:42
Spring Carnival Downhill Bike Race at the Alyeska Resort in Alaska. Ugh. That sounds a- Ugh... a groomed downhill- Yes... fat bike in the snow, bam. That does sound like a lot of fun. There's a link in the show notes.
25:56
Check it out, dudes. That does sound like a lot of fun. Not a lot of fat bike events coming up- No... in the warm weather, like we talked about last week. Yeah. I think that's a good plan.
26:07
There should be a warm weather fat bike race series.
26:09
You know, we need to do a, a recon mission too, because what I've noticed this spring thus far is I haven't seen any high water on the Milwaukee River or anything, and I'm hoping that bodes well for us to have a little bit of shoreline on Lake Michigan.
26:21
I've been prodding and poking at it here and there on trips north of Milwaukee. Just kinda a little bit. I mean- Sturgeon Bay, baby. That's our, that's the closest good long chunk. Sturgeon Bay.
26:30
Man, that's a trek- Two hours... to fat bike. Two hours. Yeah. Go up there, stay up there, come back the next day. Don't worry- I suppose... don't worry about it. I suppose doing that.
26:39
There's a lot of, uh, interesting stuff up Sturgeon Bay way. I gotta finish a house, man. Big boats. Big boats. Big boats. Bird boats. Big ships. Oh, yeah, there was a- No relation...
26:49
and some, uh, sunken ships off one- Oh... of those little islands in Sturgeon Bay. They got sunken ships everywhere up there. Well, yeah, yeah. But there's like a nice little, tiny little out island cropping peninsula.
27:02
I just actually saw a picture of it a couple hours ago. That's why. Oh, interesting. Got stuck in my head. Sam's out in Moab. Sam is out in Moab. Yes, he is. Sending back some great pictures. Oh, is he sending pictures?
27:16
Yeah. Yeah, sent me a few. Send me a, send me a picture or two. I haven't seen any pictures from him. Oh. I invited him to be on the show, but I think he's riding some trail today and would not be done yet by now. Yeah.
27:26
He also- Well, well-... did one of them side-by-side things. He did one of those adventures where you're, like, it's like an off-road dune buggy. Right on. You get some pretty crazy climbing and stuff.
27:36
Look, look like fun. I think I would roll one of those. Probably. Undoubtedly. Yeah. It was from the Lloyd. I would certainly try. Oh. So you see- Wait, not- Oh, yeah, right on. Yeah. Oh. He, he had reposted.
27:48
Lloyd, Lloyd, Lloyd Collins. T-E-N-T. Lloyd. So- Lloyd... it's pretty rad... Lloyd. Yeah. I, what do they do?
27:55
Uh, uh, did they just put them there for reefs or are they- No, three old shipwrecks in the channel of Sturgeon Bay near Bull Head Point. Huh.
28:03
I don't know a lot about Sturgeon Bay, since to me that's kinda like flyover territory on the way up to the Tip of Door County. Right. Sort of like all of the Midwest for the coasters. Mm-mm.
28:13
But, uh, I think I will check that out more, because it, that's basically there's a lot of stuff going on in Sturgeon Bay. And we need to find some beach, damn it. Beach. It's what's for dinner.
28:22
Having a fat bike, not riding on a beach is kind of a bummer. I think, I think this summer there'll be Michigan action. I'm hoping there's a little more. I gotta get my, gotta get my wheels in the sand. Yeah, absolutely.
28:33
♪ Wheels in the sand. ♪ Otherwise, what do I have a fi- a, a, a very expensive- Right... fat bike for? [laughs] Why do I have an internally geared fat bike- Aha... other than to ride on the beach?
28:44
[laughs] I am currently internally gearless. Gearless. Well, if I'm gonna go geared, an internally geared hub, I have to go to a, a 190 Roloff for the- Mm... Chumba, and that just spells ch, ch, ch, ching. Ching.
29:00
So we'll have to, we'll have to see. It'd probably be an expensive venture, but it'd be really fun to take the, uh, electric long tail on the beach. It would, until sand got in its vajayjay. Yeah, I know.
29:12
It'd be ugly then. [laughs] I think, I don't think a bottom bracket mounted motor is a good call on a sandy beach. I think they... I, I... we should research this. I'm not so sure that's not, not necessarily not true.
29:24
If you provide a little bit of grease, I think it's fine. Grease, that attracts sand. Grease. Yeah, that's true too. I don't know.
29:29
I, I think a h- Yeah, but- I, I mean, I would think that a hub motor would be better at that, but we can always torture test it. I don't care. Right. It's not my motor. Oh, no. Per se. [laughs] Well, and, and we...
29:40
Do you know, I... Doesn't Steve B like to rebuild these things? Yes. As a matter of fact, Steven and I started on a couple of bikes today at the new place. Nice.
29:51
So, and then I discovered that one of them is a 29er, and I did not plan ahead and have any 29er wheels built with motors, so. Bro. Gonna have to sorta kinda- Kinda... change some stuff around, I guess. Bro, bro.
30:04
I've been slowly accumulating them, because getting stuff in from Canada right now- Yeah... it's just a pain in the ass if it's over 2,500 bucks of stuff.
30:14
It just, there's so much customs bull crappery and t- tariffs and stuff that makes it almost not worth doing. But, uh, if I order them one-off, they slide in under the radar. Yeah. So whatever.

30:38
So I do have a medium raw, clear coated aluminum Wyatt Maverick fat bike frame that was a demo that might be available to someone. Hmm. That's a pretty bike. Also got a couple of Roloff 135 hubs. Oh. Red in color. Hmm.
30:55
Shift hubs. Which I haven't, which I have not found a use for. Yeah, they're not wheels anymore. Hmm. I only have one bike with a Roloff on right now, and that's about how many Roloffs a person needs, I believe.
31:04
[laughs] Good point. So I'm, I'm happy with the bike that it's on, but I don't think I'm gonna build a whole bunch more. Could build that, uh, that Fargo could go Roloff e- very easily, though. It could. Not red, though.
31:17
That'd be a fancy ass Fargo. Not red. [laughs] It'd have to be black. Oh. Yeah, can't have a red hub on a... No. Too much, too much coolness going on, titanium and red. Eh. Overboard. All right, everybody.
